And now your host for Morongo Casino Dodgers on Deck. Tam Case, Hi everybody, and welcome in to of Morongo Casino and Dodgers on Deck. I hope you're well on this Saturday and night. You're Los Angeles Dodgers forty three and twenty eight on this season first place a top the NL West after coming back in beating the Royals last night. In this series opener, the Dodgers look to make it too straight over Kansas City. Yoshinobu Yamamoto on the mound
for the Dodgers tonight, first pitch coming up at six ten. Between then and now, we got a lot to get to here on Morongco Casino Dodgers on Deck, we're gonna hear from the Dodger manager Dave Roberts will dive deeper into this pitchip matchup David Vase in forty five minutes, is gonna go one on one with one of the young superstars of the game. Royal shortstop Bobby went Junior, the second overall pick in the twenty nineteen MLB draft, made
his major league debut in twenty twenty two. He is one of the young stars we'll hear from him coming up at about five forty five. We'll also check you with Kirsten Watson. We got your o Tani rewind. Then in just a few minutes we'll hear from Rick Monday and Tim Neffert out the Gallpin Motors Broadcast booth. Well last night, the Dodgers fell behind early, tied
it up, and then won it late thanks to Freddie Freeman. Gavin Stone got the start seven innings, three runs, only four hits along the way, struck out three, but he got into trouble in the fourth inning. Salvador Perez hit a four hundred and thirty seven foot three run home run to left to give the Kansas City Royals a three to nothing lead. Meanwhile, Cole Reagan's pitched pretty well for the Kansas City Royals until the fifth, when
the Dodgers finally got to him. Miguel Rojas a two run home run down the left field line that made it a three to two Royals lead. Then later in the inning, Chris Taylor home run tied it to one. Pitch hits, a drive to left field and deep. This ball headed back to the wall. It's gone. The first came run of a season for Chris Taylor and it ties the game at three. Two home runs of the inning
for the Dodgers. It's a three to three ball game. It's been a while since Chris Taylor is able to circle the bas as his first home run of the year. That one the left center three hundred and ninety six feet. That is the top tier play the game, sponsored by Arco Quality, top tier gas for less. That tied the game at three. Gavin Stone would end up going seven innings. Daniel Hudson would pitch the eighth. In the bottom of the eighth inning, the Dodgers got a little something going against
the Kansas City bullpen. Mookie Betts got on the base. Freddie Freeman came up and gave the Dodgers the lead. Smith sat at the bell, looks at second. Now Kicks comes to the plate and Freeman Benson in the center field of base hit Rookie around third already he's on his way to the plate. He stores Freddie Freeman with the go ahead run down It in at the
bottom of the eighth. That's four to three Dodgers lead. What hit by Freddy Freeman, who's at two eighty six with runners in scoring positions, so that mistake you give the Dodgers a little bit of gamp, then they will take advantage of it. Freddy Freeman drives in Mookie Betts to an advanced on a wild pitch that scores the go ahead run at the bottom of the eighth with two outs, Dodgers up four to three. Alex Vessio will walk a little bit of a tight rope in the ninth inning, but get out of
it with the same Daniel Hudson gets the win. He's now three and one. Dodgers get the victory four to three over the Royals to improve to forty three and twenty eight on this season. The Dodgers last night also able to pick up a game on the San Diego Padres. Padres, by the way, have already lost again today, so the Dodgers at the moment a seven and a half game lead over the San Diego Padres eight and a half games over the Arizon. The Diabacks the chance to pick up a half game more
tonight. Yoshinobu Yamamoto on the mound game two of this three game sent first pitch is six to ten and with more let's head out to the gaping Motors Broadcast booth, as we say hello to Rick Monday and Tim Never guys, well, thank you Tim very much, as we get you ready for Game two between the Dodgers and the Royals here at Dodgers Stadium. It is an absolutely picture perfect evening here once again, temperatures will be in the low eighties
as we get ready to start this ball game tonight. Meantime, the Dodgers come in with forty three wins twenty eight losses. They are currently seven and a half up on the Padres, the Mets beating the Padres earlier today five to one, so the Dodgers leading the division by seven and a half. The Royals are six in back of the Cleveland Guardians in the American League Central
at forty and thirty one. The Royals, meantime, we've lost five of their last six games, and they are twelve and twenty against teams that are five hundred or better. So perhaps their schedules catching up with them a little bit. And the meantime, the Dodgers looking to string a few wins together.
Yeah, and for this Dodger ball club, I mean a thrilling win last night, as Freddie Freeman delivered the game winning what proved to be the game winning base hit to score Mookie Benz in the bottom of the eighth inning. But you know, we keep talking about the bottom part of the Dodger lineup has really been a challenging no question about it. But Miguel Rojas, batting seventh last night, hit a two run home run. This was after
the Dodgers were down three to nothing. And then two batters later, Chris Taylor, batting the nine spot, his first home run of the season, and that was on a changeup and he went yard. So this Dodger ball club, they come from behind victory, which is needed because if you look at the Dodgers season tim you know they began thirty three and seventeen. Well since the twenty first of May, they're one game below five hundred, ten
wins, eleven losses. So maybe turned things around last night with a winning imagined that last night. This was the time of year it's called the June swoon. They're game under five hundred right now in the last twenty one as you mentioned, But again, a chance for a series victory here if they can beat Kansas City tonight. They have had very good success against Kansas City at Dodgers Stadium. Seven career meetings here, the Dodgers have won six of
them. Yeah, and for the Royals, they're feeling pretty good about themselves, and they should. I mean, they're forty and thirty one. It's been quite a turnaround if you look at the Kansas City rules, because remember last year they were fifty six wins and one hundred and six losses. So they're kind of, you know, shooting to the moon as far as what
they're doing right now. They're within striking distance, but like you were saying earlier, they need to put together a string of wins to kind of close the gap. Trailing now Cleveland by six. Rookie bats has quietly put together an eight game hitting streak. Freddie Freeman's hit in four straight. Freeman with
the game winning RBI last night. Sho Heltania a couple of hits in the game last night, and last night's at bats looked much better than previous at bats in recent days where he didn't appear to be expanding the strike zone. It all, yeah, better balanced, because the previous dozen games for sho hey Otani had hit below two hundred one. He was nine for forty seven, but last night the balance was much much better that we saw, in
particular the last road trip. So the Dodgers and the Kansas City Royals Game two of this three game interleague series. The way the schedule goes, these two teams will play every year, but in each other's ballparks every other year. So that's the way the new schedule goes. That went into play last year, so we can expect to see Kansas City and the Dodgers playing a lot more often than they have in the past. The Dodgers eleven and eight
all time against the Royals. Counting it down to the first pitch here at Dodgers Stadium on a beautiful night, it's the Dodgers and the Royals coming up, tim all right, as we cut you down to first pitch, Dodger fans, get your game day meal on. It's Shakey's Pizza Parlor, or of your Shakey's Pizza Chicken at Mojo's right now at Shakey's dot Com. Coming up here on Dodgers on DAK we'll hear from the Dodger manager, Dave Roberts
David Vassa. We'll check in throughout the show. He'll go one on one with the Royal superstar Bobby Wit Junior will break down I'm this pitching matchup, but up next the Dodgers superstar Otani and the Otani ree one plus we'll visit with Kirsten Watson as we lead you up to Dodgers and Royals on this Saturday night. First pitch of six ten. Thanks for being with us. I'm Tim Kasis, Los Angeles Dodgers. Audio Knower is Lorongo Casino, Dodgers On
Dodgers on Deck, y'all on the official home of La Dodgers Baseball. Dodgers in Kansas City Royals, Game two of this three game set Yoshanoba Yamamoto on the mound, Seth Lugo, the veteran will go for Kansas City. First pitch coming up at six ten. This is the Otani rewinde and a two two pitch from the left handed Reagans swung. I'm pulled to the right side. That's him the right field past the diving second baseball lofton and that's a
base hit for Otani. Man that ends the string of ten straight set down to start the ballgame for Cole Reagan. Reagan's wines there is two to one. Swung Island hit it a center field. That's a base hit for Otani. He's two for three, a leadoff single for Show hit and the go ahead run. It's on base Showey Otani. Couple of base hits last night, two for four, now hitting three oh nine on this season. Dodgers come back and beat the Royals last night in the series opener four to three.
The Otanian rewin brought to by Eto wins Ocha, Japan's number one green tea available at local Diso stores, Amazon and etoin dot com. That's I T O E N dot Com. This is Kirston's Corner with Kirston Watson. Hey, Kirston now joins us from the stadium on this Saturday night before the Dodgers and the Royals. Yoshinobu Yamamoto gets to start tonight. Kirson on extended rest too. Yeah, Yoshioba is coming off of I would say his best
outing of the year so far. He was absolutely fantastic at Yankee Stadium. That obviously is a very good lineup, and how he just controlled not only himself his stuff. He was absolutely fantastic and so coming out of it, his pitch count was hying out up to one hundred and six pitches, so Dave Roberts he originally was supposed to pitch in the Ranger Series, but Dave felt that because of the emotions, the intensity of playing at Yankee Stadium in
that matchup, and just what it required. We saw quite the uptick in velocity for Yoshiobu when it came to his just his pitches and stuff, so they wanted to give him an extra day so that he could feel better. From talking to him, he said that his body felt really good, but he did have just a little bit of feeling tired coming out of it. So he actually had a conversation with the coaches and they just felt like it made more sense to give him an extra day and run him out here in
this Ranger series. So hopefully he can continue just kind of carrying over that momentum. He does believe that the uptick in velocity was due to not only the environment but also some mechanical changes. So yeah, so hopefully he'll be able to keep it going. I don't think we'll see as you know, at like ninety eight and we saw Yankee Stadium, but I do think it'll be a little bit higher, especially if the mechanical changes we've been working on
does lean that way. Speaking of keeping it going, this Dodger's bullpen leads to keep it going as a collective unit, they've been really good. Yeah, they've been really good. They've been best in baseball since April twenty first, So the numbers for them have been just fantastic. And with talking to Blake China a couple of minutes ago, he was saying he really believes that
it's due to quite a few things. One, there's a lot of veteran leadership in the bullpen and these are guys who have been around this Dodge organization for a while, so that definitely helps. But then you have there's so much support not only from each other, but from the coaches. He was saying that between Josh Bard, Connor McGinnis, Mark Pryor, they put them
in this situations to be very successful. And by doing that, whether it's you know who, they're looking to be matching up again, the lanes are going to go out and having multiple high leveraged arms available, is that because of that they can have a lot of success because they're put into positions to
be successful. So I think it's very telling. He even also added, he said, you know, he with different organizations that he's been a part of, he truly believes that when it comes to preparing the pictures, and it's not just those three guys I mentioned. There guys behind the scenes that also have a lot of impact, but he felt that the Dodgers they do
that the best. And so you're just seeing kind of a representation of all of the support they have that they can go out there, they know what they can do, they can be effective, and so we're getting the results. And a guy like Blake Trinon, who had an interesting kind of start to the season, came back healthy, but then for spring training took that comebacker off of his ribs and then was down for a while. They're hoping
it won't be able to play in South Korea. He wasn't able to, and so because of that, you know, that was a little bit challenging for him. So he's just happy to be back and healthy and playing some really good baseball. And he's got a zero ear right at the moment. Yeah, Hey, what else could you ask for? It? You can't ask much more from him. He's been fantastic here so we appreciate it. We'll check in with you after the game. Dodger Fans enhances you're listening and

Still to come here on Marongo Casino Dodgers on Deck will dive deeper into this pitching matchup. David Vassy goes one on one with one of the young star players in the league, Bobby Witt Junior. That's coming up, but we'll get you an injury report and we'll hear from Dodger manager Dave Roberts when we return. It's the
Dodgers and Royals on this Saturday night. I'm saying, katesin is the Los Angeles Dodgers Audio Network. This is Morongo Casino Dodgers Huntings on your home for La Dodgers Baseball Mobrongo Casino Dodgers on Deck continues on this Saturday night as he leads up to first pitch from Dodger Stadium, Dodgers and Royals, Morongo Casino Resort and Spa A Grand Slam for good times. Yoshinobu I'm a moto on the mountain, first pitch at six ten. He's the LA Dodgers injury report.
Here's it of my UCLA healthy official medical partner of the Los Angeles Dodgers. Max Munsey on the IL with the oblique injury, but progressing. Joe Kelly through a bullpen session yesterday on the IEL at the shoulder strain. Bobby Miller is set to come off the IL here later on this next road trip in Colorado. Kyle Hurt working his way back from shoulder inflammation. Clayton Kershaw set to go out next week on a minor league rehab assignment, starting that
process, which is good. Bruce dark graderol is slowly making his way back. Ryan Brazier, Tony Gonslin. Thus to May All on the sixty day I L all right, let's set back out to Dodger Stadium and check out with the Dodger skipper. Questions for Dave, Dave, can you just describe Dave? Can you talk about the pressure in the dugouts with Dave Roberts David Yoshinobu today after his outing in New York, he talked about just the uptick
of velocity. I know, we talked about the emotions at the moment, but he also felt like there were a couple of mechanical changes that might have led to it as well. What have you been seeing from him and do you think there can be some carry over into this outing tonight. You know, I can't really speak to the mechanical adjustments that he made with the pitching guys, I did certainly see the uptick in velocity and the great performance.
I think, you know, we try to give Hi an extra day just to kind of get off that high and be able to reset back here at Dodger Stadium, but he feels good physically and it'll just be interesting to see which I was curious also with Gavin Stone last night, coming off a big series against the Yankees, and how he would respond here. And he passed with flying colors, and I expected the same thing from Yoshinobu. And you guys are going up against Seth Lugo. What have you been seeing from him
this year? And how is he impressed? You know, Seth Lugo is a guy I've always admired from the other side. It just seems like he's very methodical, very cerebral in how he prepares for major league hitters for a game, even when he's in the bullpen. It just seems like he was like a chemist or a scientist, very methodical. All right, there's Dave Robbers down the dugout and talking about Seth Lugo, who the old seat tonight, the thirty four year old, A veteran brought to you by Service Titan.

I'm Tim Kas's Los Angeles Dodgers Audio Network. This is Marongo Casino,
Dodgers on Deck on your home for the Blue All Season Law. It's a Dodgers and Royals, Yoshinobo Yamamoto and Seth Lugo, the bitchy matchup first pitch coming up at six ten. Joining Tim Kates on Dodgers on Deck, I accept everybody for who they are. This is Dodger insider David Basse, all right, DV. Last night, Chris Taylor did something he hasn't done all year, and that's hit a home run. Can we see more of CT three now? Well, you'll see him when the matchup is conducive to
him having success or giving him the best chance to have success. And I know there's been a lot of criticism of Chris Taylor and a lot of questions about why the Dodgers still carry him on the roster. The facts are is Chris Taylor is the twenty fifth guy, twenty sixth guy on this roster. He plays once or twice a week tim and he has come up with a lot of big hits for the Los Angeles Dodgers since twenty seventeen. And last night, you know, in a regular season context, was a big hit.
Two outs. He ties the game with a home run, the first since last September seventh. So I know everybody's itching to get rid of Chris Taylor. But for a guy that doesn't play every day, plays once or twice a week and has the history of coming up with big hits, and the Dodgers have the big lead in the NL West, there's no reason to make any emotional decisions. David is driven by the Ford F Series, America's
best selling truck for forty seven years and counting. Ford gives you the freedom of choice gas, hybrid, electric, head of your Southern California Ford Dealers, and find yours Ford F Series built tough. Bobby Miller looks like he's gonna get a start on this next road trip DV. How's he feeling after
his last rehab appearance. I actually talked to him earlier today, Tim, and I said, you know what, it's funny how everybody's trying to dissect your rehab assignments the last two, especially because, as I told you three weeks ago, Tim, he was ready to go, but the Dodgers were not ready to have him come back. He will pitch next Wednesday at Corsefield, and he just told me the adrenaline adrenaline level was not there for him.
The last couple of rehabs starts because you know, obviously he's he's ready to go and wants to be pitching in the Major League, So he's been itching for three weeks to get back, and obviously coursefield, no pitcher is
looking forward to pitching there. But in this case, Bobby Miller is why seven days rest for Yamamoto dv Well, the Dodgers are saying that after that emotional start a Yankee Stadium where he threw harder than he has thrown all season long, topping ninety eight miles an hour on the fastball and throwing one hundred and seven pitches, the Dodgers just felt like, for the big picture, long term, let's play it safe and have Yamamoto on seven days rest.
Whether or not there was an underlying issue that we don't know about remains to
be seen. If ever we will hear about it. Because he's pitching tonight, right, They're not just putting him on the il, So the Dodgers must feel comfortable enough that all he needed was a couple of extra days rest and really, tim that's the biggest challenge for the Dodgers the rest of the season, not only how do they keep glass Now and Yamamoto healthy, but how do they keep them at a point where their stuff is still at its
peak in October because they especially need Tyler glass Now to be that guy he's been the first three months of this season. Yeah, you're playing for the long game. Not for the right now, that is for sure for the Dodgers and the rotation. All right, time now for the Dodgers Dirty brought to you by Santa Anita Park. Here's LA Dodgers broadcaster and World Series Champion Dodger Rick Monday. It's the Dodgers and Royals getting set for Game two and Rick coming up a little bit later on the pregame show.
Royal superstar shortstop Bobbywood Junior is going to join us. That's a good find. How long did you wait in the line to get that one? Wow? I guess the reason why I was able to get to him is I cut him off at the pass. But what a play in the seventh inning last night? Right? Yeah? Well, he's just an outstanding player. And also I think he understands the attention that he going to get because of his athletic ability and what he means this Royals team and the fact that he
also, you know, second generation major league good player. And the nice thing is he's good enough to where people want to talk to him instead of you know, they say, oh, hello, that's about it. By the way, speaking of hello, I was talking to you yesterday. I said, Hey, the night before the Dodgers will lose, and I thought you needed a helmet to do the postgame show last night. Is like, nobody called and that was a heck of a ballgame, and you were asking
for phone calls to be made to postgame Dodger Talk. I mean, you're better off doing the show after they lose. Unfortunately. Yeah, it's okay to call in to celebrate the accomplishments of the players. What a difference twenty four hours make, right, Rick, Because the last three games the Dodgers were involved in, it came down to the eighth inning and the three best
hitters. Yeah, and that's the big deal. I'm glad you brought that up because looking at some numbers today, we have been talking for a long time about, well, the top of the order's been pulling the wagon and the bottom part of the order, well, not so much. And up until about two and a half weeks ago, the bottom part of the order
wasn't pulling much of the wagon at all. How Over, here's some numbers that I think are worth mentioning because since May twenty eighth, so the last sixteen games, the numbers seven, eight, and nine hitters combined in this Dodger lineup are now hitting at two nighty over that period of time. So we're beginning to see now a lot more production at the bottom, which just really kind of enhances what happens at the top. Guys at the top we
set up before David, they cannot stay hot the entire season. Mookie Bets cooled off a little bit. Show Hey O Tanis cooled off a little bit. Freddie Freeman came through with the game winning hit last night in the bottom of the eighth dunning, but that was after Bets got the single with two outs. For some reason, there was a throw over the first to try
and pick him up. A huge error. And you cannot give a good team tames, you know, an extra out if you will, or allowed them to get someone at the scoring position, and it wound up being a big, big deal for the Stander Baul club. I'm so happy you brought that to light Rick about the bottom third of the order, because it feels like we've been bombarded with the fact that they have not produced, but all of a sudden now when they performed the way they have, you don't really
hear that too often. No, And again that date goes back the last sixteen games. The seven eight to nine hitters combined are hitting at two to ninety. Also in a period of time, seventeen extra base hits in those sixteen games, including six home runs, and for Chris Taylor finally connected last night, Miguel Rojas also hit a big two run home run, both of those home runs coming in the third inning, which tied the game at three to zero at that particular time. So again, bottom third of the order
stood large last night. I'm sure you could appreciate the feeling Chris Taylor shared after the game. He was very candid by saying, I'm so happy to hit that home run. I thought I would never experience that again. Yeah, well he was going to at all hard work he's been putting in, including this afternoon. Again, really happy for Chris Taylor. You know one thing about it, he does not make alibis. He says, Hey,
look, it is what it is. He works hard each and every day, and I hope that that's a big stepping stone for Chris Taylor who hit that home run. Here's the other thing too, is it Taylor now with two strikes the last thirty six at match, Now with two strikes, he's not had a base hit. So that's something I'm certain it's kind of wearing on his mind as well. And is he going to change the swing a little bit to try and put it into play more often? And hopefully that
that's going to be the case. We'll see how the Dodgers do today against Seth Lugo. It is Barnes Day at Dodgers Stadium. Yeah. I hope you get some phone calls in the postgame show tonight, David, even after a win. Okay, thanks, Rick, appreciate it. We'll check in with you and Tim Neverett a little bit later. Bobby, thanks a lot for the time, and welcome to Los Angeles. Yes, thank you, thank you, and happy belated birthday. I guess that was not the greatest birthday. You guys did not get the win, but it was the first time you played at Dodgers Stadium. Did you have a chance to take that all in? Yeah,
it was pretty It was pretty special. Just the weather out here, the fans, I think there was almost fifty thousand here last night, and just the atmosphere was great. Stadium is great and just kind of there's a history here and so even with my dad playing playing here and I think he hit his one and only home run here, so which is pretty special to be able to kind of play here. And yeah, do that. Do you know who that home run was off of? Pretty sure as ishmael Valdez.
Oh yeah, mister blister. He had a lot of blisters back in the day. Yeah, that's awesome. Were you here when your dad hit that homer? No? No, his last year was in two thousand and one, and I was born in two thousand, so I can't remember what year he hit the homer, but it was before. They might have been nineteen ninety five or something. So yeah, oh man, you're making this
all feel old. Yesterday was Bobby's twenty fourth birthday. And I guess when you come to a stadium like this or Fenway Park or Yankee Stadium, there's a lot of history on this field. Some players are not able to really appreciate it. What's the balance there? Yeah, that's that's It's something huge. You got to enjoy every moment and just take it all in because once your career's done, once baseball's over with, the game is going to keep going and so really it's just to take it, take it all in.
That's even what kind of talked to Dave Roberts a little bit just now. You just said, just take it all in and enjoy it, go out, venture out, and just be where your feet are. And so that's pretty much a big thing for me is just to enjoy everything that I do, because you never know when your last day is going to be playing baseball, and once it's done, it's gonna keep going. So enjoy every moment and just have a lot of fun. Bobby, we know where your feet
were last night in the seventh inning. That was one of the most incredible catches A that I've ever seen, and b one of the most incredible baseball IQ plays I've ever seen. How did you have the presence of mind to not try to make that play by yourself, but to find your second basement. Yeah, it's just one of those reactionary plays you just kind of just happens, and then next thing you know, we get a double play. And so yeah, I just knew that try to make a play on the
ball first, or try to help help our pitchers out. And then once that happened, I knew that if I try to make a play towards first, someone's gonna be there. And I loften was there and you made a great throw and make it quick transfer and everything got to double play and so it was great. So it's another case of you trusting your teammates that they would be in the right spot no doubt. Yeah, one hundred percent. And that's kind of what we're doing here. We do our work where you
try to get prepared each and every day. But then we got to pull for each other. That's how we got to do it and just to the next guy, and that's our mentality and that's it's been working a lot and just got to keep getting better every day. It feels like you're a rover. I know this is not softball, but it feels like the Royals have three outfielders on the left side. You get to a lot of fly balls, pop ups and shallow left field. Yeah, it's just kind of just
try to some of the stuff we do in the offseason. Just put your body in crazy, crazy movements and just try to get good jumps on that. And then I had a little bit of a football background. I was a wide receiver just going after the football and try to catch touchdowns, and so that's baby had something to do with it. Just I just want to try to make plays in the ball. Yeah, we saw that. It looked like you were a wide receiver in the seventh inning last night. Yeah.
Yeah, just those are the fun ones for sure. Bobby Witt Junior is our guest driving in. I was listening to Buster Only's podcast and he had JJ McCullough on, and he was describing just the conversations you had with the team on wanting to stay long term in Kansas City, and it wasn't about you, it was about the team. How are they going to build a winner. It feels like you guys are taking that step this year.
Yeah, definitely. That was something that was huge that JJ and the whole front office did and the moves they made, the veterans we brought in with the core group that we have here is a lot of fun and we got a great team here and that is why the reason I call this place my home now. And so it's just one of those things where it's just got to keep getting better every day and just keep vibing with the team and enjoy it. We know your name, we know your dad, Cavin Bigio's now
with the Dodgers. There seems to be more players in Major League Baseball right now than ever before that had dads that played before them. Can you put your finger on why that is? I don't know. I just fell in love with the game at such a young age. And I don't know if it's just because of how much passion my dad has for the game, just
because of he growing up. That's every day we had baseball on, We're talking about baseball, whatever it was, and so it's just it's one of those things where I just loved it ever since I was growing up, and I wanted to follow his footsteps in a way, and so that's definitely like a dream of mine. But then also just didn't I was playing at every other sport too, but baseball was just where my heart was at shortstop spend your life, I assume for a very long time. Do you have an
appreciation for what Mookie Betts is trying to do? Yeah, definitely. It's incredible just to see his work ethic that he does to put in the work. Even I got a chance, I had the opportunity to play with him and with the WBC whenever. Yeah, and so just the work he was putting in because he knew he wasn't gonna be playing short for that team but he was just still put in the work because he knew that there was a chance he'd be playing short last year, and then just the work that he
puts in just to become a shortstop. And I know, I think he said on a podcast something that's one of the most toughest things they ever done, but he's I think doing a great drum. Did you feel like you grew a lot as a baseball player being part of that team USA Team? Yeah, definitely, just being around those guys, seeing their routine, seeing
their work ethic. There are a reason why those guys are All Stars every year in the way that they handle themselves, They take care of their body, and just it was great to pick their brains and just be a part of that team. Yoshinovo Yamamoto at six and two with an ERA of an even three, going against Seth Lugo. Lugo nine and two with a two three six ERA. One of the best pitchers in baseball right now. Last year with the San Diego Padres, prior to that with the New York Mets, signed with the Royals as a free agent in mid December.
Lugo has been a tough customer and he is looking to become just the second pitcher in Major League Baseball this year, along with Ranger Suarez of the Phillies, to get to the ten win mark. Tim just looking at the numbers of the this should be a long night for hitters and for Yamamoto. You start to look at the two stars that he's made already in the month of June. While he's one to oh, era is below one and the batting
average against is below two. However, once this the first inning has been somewhat problematic for him this year, over a three hundred batting average that ERA over five and a half in the first frame. Yamamoto is scheduled to pitch Thursday night here at Dodgers Stadium. However, the Dodgers decided to push him back a couple of days give him even more rest, and tonight he is pitching on seven days rest. Yeah, and so how long he'll go,
we'll be able to find out. And for Lugo, he's one of those guys once he gets runners on base, in particular runners in scoring position, just a one eighty batting average. Signed as a free agent in December, and boy, the Royals really enjoying having his presence seth Lugo on the hill for Kansas City. Joshinobo Yamamoto looking for his seventh win of the season, making his fourteenth start for the Dodgers Royals. Coming up from Dodgers Stadium.
