You're Los Angeles Dodgers thirty two and seventeen on this season, first place atop the NL West after taking three or four from the Cincinnati Reds. The Dodgers continue their homestand tonight with the start of a three game series against the Arizona Diamondbacks. Yoshinobu Yamamoto on the mound.

First pitch from Dodger Stadium is coming up at seven to ten. Between then and now, you got a lot to get to here on Marongo Casino Dodgers on Deck, including hearing from the Dodger manager. Dave Roberts will dive deeper into this pitching matchup, while your magical moment of the day an injury report. David Veasse goes one on one with Walker Reviewler. Shortly, we'll hear from Kirsten Watson. In just a few minutes, we'll check you in

with Rick Monday and Steven Nelson out at the Galvin Motors Broadcast booth. Well yesterday at the Ravine. It was a little walk off magic for show Hay. In order to beat the Reds, the Dodgers sent out Landing Neck to the mount. He went four and two third innings, allowed one run on three hits while striking out five. The Dodgers game the early lead. At bottom of the fourth inning, Freddie Freeman on base for Andy Pies. One out Freeman at first, no score. Pitch win I drilled down the left

field line. It is hooking and that's gone. That's gone, wrapped around the left field foul poll A line drive out of here. A laser beam the left by Andy Pies for his fifth major league home run, and the Dodgers lead it two to nothing. Two run home run for Andy Pajes. That thing was a laser down the left field line three hundred and fifty seven feet. It got out in a hurry, two run shot, and the Dodgers r ubb two to nothing. In the top half of the fifth inning,

land and Neck would give up a run. It was a two to one Dodgers lead. Ryan Yarborough took over for an inning. In two thirds. He would give up a run to walk in a run in the seventh inning, we were tied at two. It didn't get anybody across in the top or bottom half of the ninth inning, so it was free baseball. At Dodger Stadium yesterday, top half of the tenth inning. Bonda comes on,

shuts it down, prevents the Reds from scoring a run. Dodgers come back in the bottom half of the tenth Any runners on first and second for show, Hey Hey, we're looking to get a good jump on contact. Won two pits. Oh Tony Swag's base hit right field. Here comes Heyward around third, He'll score Emma. Dodgers win it three to two. The second career walk off hit for show, Hey Old Tony Emma show rolls on at Dodgers Stadium. Show Hey Otani with the walk off RBI single to right.

Dodgers winning in ten innings yesterday three to two. Anthony Bonda gets the win in relief. Show Hey o Tani drives in a run. Pajes hits the two run home run. That's all the Dodgers would need is they take three or four from Cincinnati. After dropping the series, they win three in

a row. They're now thirty two and seventeen on this season. They've got control of first place atop the Western Division of the National League, and tonight they continued the home stand with the first of three against the Arizona Diamondbacks. Yoshinobu Yamamoto on the mound, first pitch at seven to ten, and with more we head out to the gallopin Moters broadcast booth as we say hello to

Rick Monday and Steven Nelson. Guys, thanks Tim. All right, most of the Dodgers, coming off a seventh series win their last eight series, going to try and finish up the seven game homestand by getting another one against the visiting Arizona Diamondbacks. Arizona back at Dodgers Stadium for the first time since

last year's Division series. Yeah, and trying to right the ship. I mean, you start to look at what happened last year, Arizona won the first two games here and then the complete of the sweep over in Arizona. But if you start to look at the bigger picture, and this was then

and right now is now. But the Dodgers here in this ballpark against Arizona have've had pretty good ways of it, winning thirty one of the already eight regular season games at Dodgers Stadium. But one thing about it, Arizona knows

full well that they have not been running at all cylinders. Tonight could be the night, and they need to do a very good job in this three game series to cut in to that nine game deficit that they're really trailing this Dodger blanklub right now, who's leading the Western Division by seven and a half in front of the second place San Diego Andres. If you look at Arizona's year so far, they have really struggled against teams above five hundred. They

don't have a series win against a team more of five hundred yet. The starting pitching does have some injuries, but it's been what's buoyed them this recent stretch. I think nine in the last twelve starts three or fewer runs of problem. The offense has been non existent. They got a lot of big name players or young players who are expected to become big names a La Corbyn, Carrol, a La Gabriel Moreno Allah Lordis Cariel, who are all scuffling

right now. So the Dodgers, whose pitching staff has been rolling, and to try and continue that trend fore exactly and if you look at Corbyn Carroll. I mean, here's a guy that took a baseball really by a big whirlwin last year. I mean the National League Rookie of the Year. But he comes in hitting this one ninety one the last eleven games, even lower than that, barely one twenty. Well, he's the guy that once he gets going and Arizona hoping he gets going very very soon, he can really

help set the table. And you look at the Dodgers. One of the things that they're able to do. You look at Mookie betts Bett's hitting a three thirty seven, he sets the table. Show Hey Otani hitting a three fifty three, He helped set the table. Then Freddie Freeman and Will Smith have a lot of it bats with runners in scoring position, along with ti Oscar Hernandez. So if you look at the first five offensively, this Dodger

buck but they're doing a lot of damage. We're beginning now to see six through nine in the lineup beginning to hold their own and both that's a welcome sight. You think about the Dodger offense on the whole, leading the National League in batting average, hits, walks, on base, slugging ops, you name it, and that is despite having a six through nine that on the season and has the lowest batting average in all the National League, the

second lowest ops in the National League. So all that to say that if that bottom half gets going, lookout you will look out for most preview of tonight's pitching matchup and play more as we get closer to first pitch. TC. All right, thanks a lot, Nelly appreciated Dodger just celebrating a big win yesterday, taking three or four from the Cincinnati Eras, and that walk off home run was something special for show hey Otani, his first walkoff in

any game in four years. That was the top tier play of the game sponsor by Arco Quality, top tier gas for Less. Dodgers now thirty two and seventeen on this season. They enter tonight with a seven and a half game lead in the NL West, with a chance to open that up at least over Arizona, who's in town for the first of three. So he count you down to first pitch. Dodger fans, get your game day meal on at Shakey's Pizza Parlor. What are your Shaky's Pizza, chicken and mojos

right now at Shakey's dot com coming up here on Dodgers on Deck. Well here from the manager Dave roberts Well, check in with David vets A. DV goes one on one with a Walker Bueler. We'll dive deeper into this pitching matchup. But I'm next. You're O Twani rewind and we'll visit with Kirson Watson. So we leads up to Dodgers and Diamondbacks on this Monday night.

First pitch at seven ten. Thanks for being with us. I'm Tim Kasi's Los Angeles Dodgers Audio network is Lorongo Casino, Dodgers on Dodgers on Deck, y'all on the official home of La Dodgers Baseball. It's the Dodgers and Diamondbacks. Yoshanobi Yamamoto on the mound for the blue Joe Manniply will go for Arizona as the opener. First pitch coming up at sevent ten. This is the Otani Rewinde two ball, two strike pitch outside target being set by Stevenson

and it goes outside of he rips it to the right side. Stumbling is the first base when they got no chance to get it at first, say An nfield single. Hey, we're looking to get a good jump on contact one two pitch Otani swagspace hit right field. Here comes Heyward around third, He'll score and the Dodgers won at three to two. The second career walk off hit for show hell Otani and the show rolls on at Dodgers Stadium. Show he Otani with the infield single and the biggest hit of the day.

They'll walk off RBI single to write two for four with an RBI now hitting three fifty three on this season. The Otani Rewind brought to you by Eto wins Oyocha, Japan's number one green tea, available to local diso stores, Amazon and eto win dot com. That's it t O e n dot com. This is Kirston's Corner with Kirston Watson. Hey, Kirson now joins us

from the stadium before the series opener with the Arizona Diamondbacks and Kirsen. You can kind of feel like you can see the finish line a little bit with these thirteen games in thirteen days. Listen, I might be counting down to the finish line just maybe because look, this has been it's been a long stretch. Thirteen straight no off days. That's not a usual thing in the schedule, so for a lot of the guys. Dave Roberts was talking about

it today. First and foremost, he's really pleased with how the guys have handled these last ten with now one more series against Diamondbacks left. He said that the biggest thing has been the bullpen and just kind of not only how they've managed themselves being available, but also with arms that have come in and stepped up for kind of once who are injured are just kind of giving other guys a day here and there. So he's been really pleased and also his

fine seeing how this team has put together wins. How this thirteen straight started in San Diego and they lost that series, but to come back and win the next two, just for them to kind of get back and kind of back to their winning ways has been really big for them. So he's been pleased and how everyone's kind of in a good spot. But he did say that most of those bullpen arms are probably begging to get to that off day.

Yeah, And speaking of those, some of those arms that are looking to get back ended up bullpen because the Dodgers are doing it with guys they didn't think they'd be counting on at this point in this season, but looks like the Calvary could be joining here at least soon with Joe Kelly, Evan Phillips, even a Bobby Miller update. Yeah, so we'll start with Joe Kelly. So he played catch on a flat ground for the first time today,

So that's a really good sign for him continuing just to progress. He of course is going to have to go off the bullpen, so there are still steps in his progression, but the fact that he played catch today for the first time is a good sign. Then you have Evan Phillips, he has thrown bullpens. He was playing catch today as well, and Dave Roberts said that it's very realistic that he could be back in the next week to ten days. So I think that's just a really good sign as the closer

of this team that he is continuing to feel really well. They're not pushing him or anything. They're letting him take his time make sure that a hamstring fully heals, but he's continuing to show signs that he's feeling good and working his way back. Then, and there's Bobby Miller, as you mentioned, so focusing out on the rotation. He is going to throw in a game tomorrow here in LA at Dodger Stadium and going to do three innings, basing

some of the hitters on the team. And then Dave said that after that he will go on his rehab assignment. So he's progressing and he doesn't have as much of a build up as someone like Walker Wheeler had, but he is going to have probably a couple outings to get him in a good spot to make his way back. So yeah, arms are they're coming, They're getting stronger. The arrow is pointing up for some of these guys coming off the IL, and that is certainly great news, Karsten. We appreciate it.

I mean she and done for the year. Spoke earlier today. He talked about his surgery to have his elbow repaired. Also had an oblique injury during spring training, but he is out for twenty twenty four. The head back out to Dodger Stadium and check out with the Dodgers skipper Dave. Do you think any questions for Dave?

Dave? Can you just describe Dave? Can you talk about the pressure in the dugouts with Dave Roberts. I think there was I don't recall which start it was earlier on it was third or fourth start or something like that. I think he just got tired of being mediocre, and I think all athletes expect a lot of themselves, and for us to give him the opportunity to ease his way into the big leagues, that wasn't good enough for him,

and you just saw way more. I just think he got tired of it and decided that he was better than he was pitching and then you saw considered the better strike throwing. And also I think that went hand in hand with his mechanics that they worked on as well. Insulted where he gets sort of tired of that sort of each each, that's each, that's each player.

You know, some players just have that innate of taking a little bit of latitude and running with it, and some guys don't want it, don't need it, and expect greatness from themselves from the outset, never throwing them on other dgs and so forth. Is this from will you have for him the whole season or just to be in the season, not planning for the whole season. I have been mindful on his usage early on in the season as

he can continue to build a foundation. But tonight, Yeah, if tonight goes well, uh, and it makes sense, I could see him, you know, pushing pas hundred pitches tonight. All right, there's Dave Roberts talking about Yoshinoba Yamamoto on the start tonight. As we count you down to first pitch, Dodger fans, that was Dave Roberts down the dugout, brought to you by service Titan. Dave Roberts, he said, Titan in his own right. He's got a plan before his team hits the field. You

This is Marongo Casino, Dodgers on Deck on your home for the blue all season Law Dodgers and Diamondbacks on this Monday night.

Yoshanobo Yamamoto, Joe manniply of the pitching matchup. Man apply at opener, left hander for the Snakes. First pitch coming up at seven ten. Joining Tim Kits on Dodgers on Deck. I accept everybody for who they are. Is Dodger insider David Bassei. All right, d ve got a lot talk about the Big three on this Dodgers offense. Will Smith is including when there's the Big four. But he had been a little bit of a funk and

he's gotten out of it. Yeah, he actually brought that to my attention when he was oh for his last seventeen on the last road trip and coming into this homestand it actually reached oh for twenty one. But since then he has come out of it six for nineteen with a couple of doubles. But just looking at his season, he's had a great year three forty with runners in scoring position. He's the guy you wanted to play in those situations. But if there's one kind of flaw to his season so far is the lack

of power. We're talking about a guy back in twenty twenty one that hit twenty five home runs and ever since then the power has gone down, from twenty five to twenty four to nineteen last year and this year Will Smith only has four home runs and tonight will be the Dodgers' fiftieth game of the season. He is on pace for, you know, in the forty doubles range, but the home runs are starting to dwindle in the last few years. So we'll try to find the answer to that. Tavid has driven by Ford.

Our teams are always built touch just like your four trucks and SUVs built for tough LRDV. Michael Grove, here's a guy who was a starter, kind of a bullpen long reliever. He's really immerged as a weapon now of the bullpen. Yeah, and it was starting to show signs that his days in major league baseball, his future in baseball was not going to be as

a starter. When he came out of the bullpen last year and he faced right handed hitting teams and was trusting his slider, that's really when things clicked for him and also for the Dodgers coaching staff in front office that you know what, this guy might be a weapon coming out of the bullpen. And Michael Grove's era out of the bullpen in thirteen games since April tenth is under one zero sixty one. He has twenty three strikeouts and only four walks.

He's using that slider. He's got a fastball now that sinks, so he's getting more swing and mess more than he's ever had before. And that slider is a great weapon against left handed hitters. So Michael Grove has emerged with

all these injuries to Brazier and Joe Kelly as a high leverage reliever. And the biggest thing is he has finally embraced it because even at the beginning of this season in spring training, he really wanted to continue being a starter, but you can make big money and have a long career doing what he's doing right now, real quick, Dave. Jock Peterson back at Dodger Stadium.

Yeah, Jocktober back at Dodger Stadium. When he tried to enter the stadium today, he was wearing a hat in sunglasses and he had a little trouble getting in, but finally made his way through. Just want to remind Dodger fans though, what he has meant to them in the postseason when they went to the World Series and back to back years in twenty seventeen and twenty eighteen, Jack Peterson and Hall of Famer Gil Hodges both have five World Series home

runs for the Dodgers. That says a lot, no doubt about it. In October. It is a real thing. DV. Appreciate it. We'll check back you with you in just a little bit. Don't forget. He's brought to you by Ford and their memorial date. Selathon built Ford Tough coming up here on Morogo Casino, Dodgers on deck. We'll hear from Walker Bueler. He's built tough. We'll break down this pitching matchup. But I'm next for Dodgers Magical Moment. Don't go anywhere. Dodgers and Diamondbacks first pitching seven

Here's two to one line drive caught by the second baseman Taylor. The Dodgers shutout Arizona and the Dodgers win their ninth Division title in the past ten years. For nothing, they beat Arizona. The Dodgers now fifty five games over five hundred. This is a season that simply has been on

a Dodger domination. Dodgers dominated the division. Unfortunately couldn't get it done in October, but they win their ninth divisional title in ten years back in twenty twenty two. Y'all on the official home of LA Dodgers Baseball. Dodgers and Diamondbacks is the Homestead Continues. Dodgers to three or four from Cincinnati now start a three game series with Arizona Yoshinoba Yamamoto on the mound. Joe manniply will be the opener of the left hander we'll go for Arizona

first pitch at seven to ten. Dodger fans, start your future at a California community college. Financial aid is available to help you tuition books, and sometimes even the rent. It's time to take that next big step. Classes can fill up quickly, So enrolled today and I can go to college dot com and now joined by David Basse, Here's La Dodgers broadcast arre and World

Series champion Dodger Rick Monday. Rick. The Dodgers are running a three game winning streak into this series against the Arizona Diamondbacks, who happened to be the defending National League champions yep. And I think they come in and they would like to have that the banner being towed around at the stadium, but that's not the case. I mean, when it comes down to it, is that the Arizona Diamondbacks, the defending National League champions or nine games behind the

Dodgers, really trying to righte the ship. And you know they've had a lot of guys they just had not been hitting. But one thing about it, we know the competition is going to be there, and there's some numbers you need to disregard. I think anytime you go into a series. And yes, it was Arizona sweeping the National League Division Series last year, and they won the first two games here and then closed it out over in Arizona.

But putting aside postseason, the Dodgers have been victorious now in thirty one of the thirty eight regular season games have been played between these two ball clubs here at Dodgers Stadium. That's thirty one out of thirty eight. Put that aside, that was then, this is now, And for Arizona they were like nothing better obviously than to gain some ground of the Dodgers in the Western

Division the National League. All right, Rick, we're starting to get into the point of the season where pitchers start facing the same teams, especially in the Division. Yamamoto now is going to face the Diamondbacks for the second time in two weeks. So is this going to be the real test for him to teams are seeing him now for a second time. It might be. I think it depends on which side of the coin that you're going to be talking about. He went six shutout innings against Arizona, you know, just

a couple of series ago. That was on the first of May, and the Dodgers won that game by eight to nothing score. But the way that he commanded the strength zone with all of his pitches was really something that the next outing was also very good. Dave Roberts eluding this afternoon that you know, the pitch count may be increased with Yamamoto tonight, if he still has that same command of the strength zone and gets ahead of hitters, it could

possibly go up to one hundred pitches. We'll find out on that end of it. But I agree with you, you do learn more about hitters and pitchers by seeing them and face hid them. We can get all the information that we do. I mean, I'm holding up about a half inch thick, you know, reams of paper that could give me all kinds of war asses and therefores who hits the fastball, who does this? Who does that?

But there are some times that you just do not see the ball out of a certain pitcher's hand that maybe throws the same thing as the next guy you're going to see, maybe the guy you saw last night throwing the ballgame,

and maybe you don't hit them for whatever reason it is. So you know, it's a learning situation, and I've always that it's easier for pitchers to find out about hitters and their weaknesses that maybe it is for a hitter to find out about the pitchers, because from a hitter it's all individual, and I think from the picture you can go more blanket. We'll say, oh, David Bassey handles the low fastball much better than he does the breaking

ball that's away, don't handle the fastball upstairs. I think it's easier for pitchers to look at the breakdown and understand about the hitters more so than it is for hitters to understand about the pitchers. That makes sense, Ricky, before we back out of here. Yesterday, an exciting finish to the game, Otani with his first career walkoff hit as a Dodger. What did you think about that at bat and just what he was able to do? The

bat was obviously terrific because it ended with something that was going on. But I think overall, if you look at the Dodgers and what they've been able to do, David, I mean winning twenty the last twenty six ball games, it's not just the hitting. The pitching for the Dodgers has maybe gone overlooked, and it shouldn't be a look because in winning twenty the last twenty six the Dodgers overall had the lowest era collectively in baseball two point one point

one during that span. The pitching, the starting pitching two point five eight. The bullpend in those last twenty six games one point two eight er. That's really off the charts. Chicks dig the long ball, but pitching wins championships. Yes, thanks, Rick, this segment was the bridge to the rest of your life. Oh, thank you, David. Thank for you to leave. Is it? I think so? We'll send it back to you in the studio. Tim, all right, thanks a lot of guys,

fielding insults from a Dodger player. It's an engagement of endearment. This it is high and tight. The Dodgers and Diamondbacks getting set for first pitch here at Dodgers Stadium, and we're joined right now by Dodger your All Star and World Series champion Walker Buehler, who's got the goatee going and the swag even more drip than usual, so I know you're feeling good. This isn't any

more than usual. These are my to my glove for the year. Come on, I was telling people in spring training there was a moment in time where I knew things were going the right way because you were back to yourself. Yeah, I mean everyone keeps telling me that, like, the more I run my mouth, the better, and so I don't know, I probably manufactured it for a while, but no, I feel good. Was there a moment in time in spring training that you felt like, Okay,

now I'm starting to feel like I'm beyond being a rehab patient. Yeah. I mean I had a couple of good libyps and and that was kind of a step forward at that time. But you know, I think this rehab thing, especially the second one, kind of isn't as linear as maybe I wanted it to be. And obviously my first two starts here didn't go how I would want and so you kind of reasss and and learn like that that's part of it. And now obviously we're kind of a little bit back on

the train. But you know, at the same time, you got to think the same things and go and and work the same way and do all those good things. I've heard players say this in the past with less serious injuries than yours, that the physical part is part of it, but mentally trusting your body to be able to do things is the biggest hurdle. Did

you experience that as well? Yeah. I mean, I think it's hard to know what a ball is going to do or where it's going to go when you don't know how your arm's going to feel in the way they're right. I think that's the biggest thing, and kind of getting out of that

rehab mindset. You know, everybody says the rehab mindset. I think largely like when you're really good, like when I've been good in this game, it's like there's no physical concern and so, you know, you're concerned solely about yourself physically for two years, and so it's a little bit of a transition, and you know, now I can kind of get back to competing and trying to, you know, do what I want with the ball instead of worrying about what the ball is going to do to my elbow. Walker.

I was one of the few that was watching your podcast here in LA on a regular basis because you were really candid with everything that you were going through. Did you feel like that was kind of like a journal in some ways in a in a twenty twenty four space, because you were you were really spilling your emotions and how you were feeling and where things were going. Well, yeah, I think, you know, it was important to me. You know, I think whether this went good about or ugly, like,

to be able to talk through it's kind of cool. I think also we can blame the people of Buffalo Trace for sending me stuff. I don't think I normally would say everything I say on there, But that's kind of the fun of it, right and getting to actually talk through you know, where you're at, and you know, I think we'll do another one of those here soon and kind of talk through the the good, good parts of

this thing. You said on that podcast Just Baseball that May was kind of the month that you were circling and you guys were working backwards, so I guess it was on schedule in some ways. Yeah, I mean we actually probably well, my first May sixth, I think we probably beat it by you know, eight days or so, so we were pretty pretty close. We had always said May and then kind of see through the season how we're holding up and if I need a breather or blow or whatever, and you

know, I think that's probably still an option at some point. Obviously I feel really good right now, but yeah, it's always good to kind of tick off, you know, beat a goal. I guess in some way. But you know, my goal was to get back last year. I didn't do that, so I'm glad this one worked out a little bit better. Is it fair to repeat that last start? The start before your next start is a bridge to the rest of your season. You're building off each

one. Yeah, I mean, I think every every start is you know, every season that I've played, it's trying to build on something, or build on the last one, or get back to one before or whatever. I think, you know, the mindset of the mentality for me is a little bit different than it used to be, and I think it has to be. And you know I kind of came together in my last start, and you know, we need to keep putting it together. The one thing

that I love about your mentality that hasn't changed. You don't just want to be out there. You want to be the best. And it feels like the more you get that itch, the more you want more. Yeah. I mean, you know, at the end of the day, I think I got really lucky to be in this organization. You know, drafted here and come up here, and you know we've always been good in the regular

season. Like there's you know, you put together a nice start in the regular season, that's kind of that's awesome, and that's what everybody wants. But you know, we're building towards being really good in October. And I think that's a perspective that I kind of was brought up with here. And you know, something I don't think is going to change. I've never asked you this before, but do you pitch with a chip on your shoulder?

People always seem to short change whether it was in college you were better than where they slotted you, you were better than where you were drafted because of the elbows surgery. Do you pitch with that chip on your shoulder? Yeah?

I think so. I mean I think you're kind of always teetering with you know, if you're having any sort of success, I think you're teetering behind or between like that chip and then you know, being too confident, and you know, when you get hurt, I think that's probably the most humbling thing that can happen to an athlete. You know, if you if you perform badly, like you get to do it again the next week or

the next day or whatever. But getting hurt it's really you know, for me, it's been what twenty two months of kind of trying to figure out how to be good at this game again and you know, provide for your family and all of that, and so yeah, I mean, I think there's some sort of chip. I think for that to actually do anything, you have to like physically be right and mentally be ready to compete. And

I think this last start was kind of all of that coming together. Before I let you go, you must have been feeling little buffalo trace ish when you gave Austin Barnes credit for why you moved on the mound. I thought that was really revealing. He's been telling me this for a couple of years and I don't I don't like doing it, but Burnsy has his moments and

it really made a difference, right, I think. So, I mean, you know, it's kind of an abstract thing, but the orientation of our body and the way my eyes see the plate and stuff like that can

kind of dictate some things happen physically. And you know, Barnes has always talked about how he wants certain things to come out in certain you know, lanes and things like that, and I had to be really perfect for it to come out like that, where I used to be and so hopefully you know, this kind of change works for the long term, but even just for the one I have to give him a little little hot tip. Walker, it's great having you back. I'm a little nostalgic. You mean a

lot to me. The guys that have been here since you were a rookie mean a lot to me, no matter what uniform they're wearing. So it feels like the world is a little bit more normal with you pitching again. I appreciate it. Man. We'll talk to you guys here later on there he is the man, but tane Walker Buehler, we'll send it back to you in the studio. Tim, all right, thanks lot. on the mound for the Arizona Diamonbacks. He is a reliever, bullpen expert so to speak, not a starter, but tonight he is the opener for Arizona as they go with the left hander. Veteran thirty three years old, a twenty seventh round pick of the Tigers back in twenty thirteen out of Virginia

Tech, made his debut in twenty sixteen with Detroit. Pitched for the Yankees and then joined the d Backs in twenty twenty with an All Star in twenty twenty two with the Snakes, making his twenty second appearance this year, again his first as a starter an opener this season. Last pitched on Saturday, did not record it out and give up a couple of runs. It was a rough outing for Joe manniply. This is his twenty fourth appearance against the

Dodgers. He's zero to two with a four to ninety five ERA sixteen and a third innings niner and runs given up and sixteen strikeouts. Yoschanovo Yamamoto on the mound for the Dodgers, twenty five year old right hander, first season with the Blue making his tenth start this season, his last time out in San Francisco, five and two third innings, four runs, five hits, six strikeouts in a no decision. Believe it or not, this is already

his second time now facing the ERA on the Diamonbacks. David Vassa alluded to it earlier. Now we're starting to see teams see him for a second time. He went six scoreless innings and he struck out five in his previous start against them. That was three weeks ago in Arizona in which he got the win. Yoshinobu Yamamoto. Every time he gets to start. you Tim okay Mo. Before we get into Yoshinobu Yamamoto against the opener Joe Mantaply for Arizona, let's talk about the weekend that was in Show hey Otani Sho hey Otani Day officially now in Los Angeles County, May seventeenth, turned into Show hey O Tani Weekend. He didn't have many hits in the series, but he made him count his thirteenth home run on Show Heo Tani Day, and then of course capping off the weekend with his first walk off as

a Dodger. You really, I think, really, it doesn't surprise me, but impresses me and will take for granted the exceptional ability that he has. What I really embrace is how his teammates and the city have embraced him. Here's a star value, and yet it is not detracted from what this

team as a whole is able to do. And I'm not certain that that works in every ball club where you get someone that comes in so dynamic, they get so much attention front row and center, and yet he blends in very well with his ball club, And I think that's a big, big credit to show hey Otani who understands the team concept. And you don't get a whole lot of superstars that maybe embrace that. Well, you talk about superstar all at a word that isn't necessarily often tied to superstar, and that's

humility. I mean, shohe Otani. Maybe too much humility, you would think, but that is the way he's wired and that is what endears him to his teammates, his coaches, and fan bases as a whole. So it was great to see over the weekend. And now the Dodgers try and continue this strong stretch of play during which they've won twenty of twenty six games MO with Yoshinobu Yamamoto starting against it. Yeah, a couple of things are

going to be looking at very closely. First standing in particular because it's the three twenty four average whatever it is, he has, at least to this point, has had a little difficulty settling in. Once he does, it's been lights out. And he's a guy if you go to home played as a hitter, if you're looking for one pitch, you're in trouble because he

commands five of them. Very well. Dodgers starters MiB best two point one point one team era going back to April twenty First, I mean, if we talk about the starting pitching, the bullpen's been even better than that, Tim Kates. So hopefully both those things continue throughout this series. For the Dodgers against Arizona. We'll talk to you when first pitch comes around. Yeah.

I need the bullpen to keep it going, get the starting pitching going as well, and some timely offense, and the Dodgers can win their fourth in a row. Tonight's against Arizona, the start of a three game series. Yoshanoba Yabamodo on the mound for the Dodgers. First betcho we come back. I'm Tim Kates has been Wrongo Casino Dodgers on deck. I'm the Los Angeles Dodgers Audio Network
