Dodger Talk is sponsored by LA Care Health Plan, providing affordable healthcare insurance to millions of Angelinos for over twenty five years, and now your voice for Dodgers Talk. Like back David Vasse. Dodgers get the brooms out on Bean Town, sweeping the Red Sox in a three game series to open up the post All Star Break schedule today. The final score nine to six. Welcome the Dodger Talk David Vase live at Dodgers Stadium with you until eight thirty tonight here
on a five to seventy. LA Sports Jose Moto will check in in about twenty minutes. Also, we'll share part of Adrian Beltray's Hall of Fame induction speech. Obviously, Beltray got his start here with the Dodgers, and he certainly tipped his cap to many of the people that started his major league career and helped him while he was wearing the Dodger uniform. Eight six six nine, eight seven two five seventy is the phone number I said last night.
It was one of the most entertaining games of the season, maybe the most entertaining game of the season, but in totality, these three games against the Red Sox were three of the most entertaining games I have seen in a three game series this year. And obviously it's a lot sweeter with the Dodgers sweeping Boston. Like I said last night, anytime you can beat a Boston sports team and you're from LA, it's even sweeter. And a three game sweep
certainly is fantastic against Boston. And the Dodgers get off to the right foot here in the post All Star Break schedule after going one in six heading into the break. They did not play perfect baseball. It looked ugly sometimes like today. But the good news is they in there and they didn't break. I hate to quote the great philosopher Victor Brigg Jacobs, but it's true.
The Dodgers bent, but they did not break in this series. And Freddie Freeman hit the Grand Slam on Friday night after the Dodger offense was quiet for the first seven and a half innings that night. Yesterday, despite Evan Phillips faltering again, the Dodgers came back thanks to Keike Hernandez and his heroics and
Will Smith and his heroics in the eleventh inning to win that game. And today the Dodgers added on some insurance runs in the bottom of the eighth against Kenley Janssen, and they needed every single one of those three runs after Evan Phillips was ineffective again in the ninth inning, and Daniel Hudson came in and reminded the Dodgers and Boston that they are still the Dodgers again and picked up
his sixth save of the season eight six, two, five seventy. I know we have a full border calls right now, and we'll get to Evan
Phillips and the Dodgers' bullpen in just a moment. But if anybody was standing on the concourse out there in right center field when sho he Otani hit a four hundred and seventy three foot moonshot, I would love to hear from you, because it bounced on that newly renovated concourse, newly added concourse during the renovation of Dodgers Stadium in twenty twenty, and we got to see it in twenty one, and so many fans are enjoying what Janet Maurice Smith did out
there in center field. It bounced on the concourse between the roof of the pavilion and the concourse area. Above the seats in right center field and bounced into the centerfield plaza behind the pavilions. Even six years ago, that would have been in the parking lot, that would not have been what we now consider inside the stadium. That was the longest hit home run in ten years
by anybody at Dodger Stadium. John Carlos Stanton was the guy that holds that distinction hitting it to the right field pavilion rooftops, and Mike Piazza still holds the distinction for what is recorded as the longest home run hit in Dodger Stadium history. And that was also on Sunday Night Baseball. So if anybody was out there in right or yeah, right center field, give me a call. Eight six, six nine, eight seven two five seventy. That was
one of six home runs hit by the Dodgers today. Who would have thought Austin Barnes and show Hey Otani would hit back to back home runs today, But that's what happened. In the bottom of the fifth inning, Barnes with his first home run of the season. And I really thought after Paxton gave up two runs on a two run homer by Jaren Duran in the first for the Dodgers to come back and tie the game in the bottom half of that first st inning really set the tone that, you know what, we're not
just going to give away this game despite winning the first two. And I thought it was very important for the Dodgers to win this game today and to start stringing along a winning streak of five games or more. That's gonna be tough against the Giants. It always is, no matter what their record is. They're under five hundred right now. But it feels like the Dodgers have
been satisfied. And I'm not just talking about the players, but the tone set by the lineups and the starting pitcher and the way the bullpen is used.
It feels like the Dodgers have been satisfied with winning two out of three, and the Dodgers need to start not just winning series, but after the way that first half ended, where they were basically five hundred going into the All Star break in their last fifty or so games, it's important for them to start stringing along winning streaks and not let that switch dim too low. They've got to keep that dimmer up, like Tim Grover preached to them in
spring training, So for them to sweep this series. To have James Paxton on the mound and be able to hang in there after a rough first inning, that was huge. And hopefully now the Dodgers can string together a winning streak and match the longest of the season, which was a seven game winning streak in May. And I like the way Dave Roberts managed in this game
with urgency. Even though it feels like he's balancing the big picture with trying to win today, he found a way to do it, and obviously having this type of lineup helps him do that. When they hit six home runs, first time the Dodgers hit six home runs in a game since twenty twenty two in Kansas City, eight six six nine eight seven two five seventy is the phone number Dodgers hold on for a nine to six win over the Red
Sox. All right, let's get to the phone calls. I know you want to ask about Evan Phillips, so heyesus and Walnut have at it. Lead us off. Go ahead, first time call the A longtime listener. A pleasure to speak with you. Thank you appreciate a Phillips. Dave, I want to ask you about Evan Phillips, seems like there's a loss, that he's down and he's been hit a little more. And can you or
any of the coaches Shedney light on that. Well, I'm not a coach, but I play one on the radio, So here's my perspective on it. He's relying too much on his slider slash sweeper and he doesn't have a feel for that pitch. He really hasn't had a feel for it in a couple of weeks, and I feel like Jesus, Evan Phillips has to go back to establishing his fastball and commanding his fastball and work off of that. He's relying too much on the sweeper. His fastball velocity was not down today.
He threw ninety six when he threw that fastball, but he did not have command of it. And right now, Evan phillips confidence is a little bit low. You could see it in his body language. He doesn't have the same swagger that we saw when he's going on all cylinders last year. So for me, he's got to get back to the fastball and play off of that. Okay, listen, could you give us a Charlie Steiner update?
I really mission, Yeah, we missed Charlie too. He celebrated a birthday while the Dodgers were on the road, and right now he is day to day, as they say in the baseball world, and steadily recovering. Maybe not as fast as he would like or we would like, but he definitely has been getting a lot of well wishes and we have Charlie in our thoughts and we're hoping that he continues to get better day by day. Eight six, six, nine, eight seven, two five seventy is the phone
number. All right, Frank, let's keep this going. What do you got on Evan Phillips? Oh, thanks for taking my call. Well, I think the Evan Phillips is going through what Bobby Miller went through and he got sent down on where they got multiple weapons in their arsenal, and they're not going through that. They're going to other pitches. I think if Bobby Miller would it like kept more with fastball, like just go down the middle and not be afraid of hitter, just like Evid Phillips could do it.
I think he'll execute the pitches more and he helped the team more. Teams are waiting for his pitches and that's why you're getting hit well. Okay, thank you for the phone call. I disagree with you. I feel like Evin Phillips just can't throw a fastball down the middle. That's part of this too. His fastball is not showing a lot of late life from my eyes.
I'll try to dive into it a little bit more with Connor mcguinnis and Mark Pryor, but that's what I'm seeing here that his fastball seems a little more straight than usual, and he doesn't have command of it and his sweeper he's not able to land it for strikes. He's yanking it and it's not even close to being a strike or getting hitters to even think it's a strike to swing at it. So to me, that's the issue. I'm not
giving up on Evan Phillips. The Dodgers are not giving up on Evan Phillips, and I guess this is the silver lining in the Dodgers, not just saying Evan is the closer. They've got a guy like Daniel Hudson that can close. They got a guy like Blake Trinon that can close games until Evan Phillips gets back on track. And even better news, the Dodgers may be getting Bruce tarr gretorol back. He made his first appearance for Oklahoma City in
his road back from shoulder injury in spring training. Shoulder inflammation. I'm not sure exactly the extent of the shoulder injury, but he had inflammation. He
did not really pitch in spring training. He hasn't pitched in a major league game all year, and right now is step one to Bruce dargraderol coming back this season, and if the Dodgers get him back and he's anywhere close to who he was last year, that's a huge boost to the Dodgers and gives Dave Roberts more options whenever one of his late inning relievers is a little off. Eight six, six, nine, seven, two five seventy is the phone number. Let's go out to Frankie, who says he was close to
the Otani monster home run. Frankie, were you out there below that pink sign in right center field? Hey, DV, you know that thing was an absolute shot. Thank you for having us on the show. We absolutely appreciate it. Longtime listener, first time caller. Who's we from Selinas, California, long way away, but we way down here speaking French like Jerry Harriston. Who's we It's my wife, Peyton and I. My wife's in the car too. Hey Peyton, you guys came out and saw an incredible
game. So describe where you were where Otani's home run ball landed. So we we were sitting just under right seat. Just it went right over our heads. He absolutely crushed that ball. And you know what, DV, I really want to give a shout out to Honeywell, that screwball is disgusting. We need that all year. We need that screwball and fastball. It's disgusting. Let's thank you. I was hoping for a little bit more of a painted picture of your view of Otani's home run. We know it was
crushed. Where were you were you right on that concourse standing room only area? Where were you? Yeah? So we were. We were in the right field pavilion and oh my god, it was crushed. It was over my right shoulder. And I would tell you I saw it shoulder. Tell you that. Are you saying I could tell you that I saw it? But it went over so quick? Are you saying it whizzed right over your right shoulder? Uh? You know, maybe a couple rose over, but
it was absolute shock. It knded like a gunshot went off. Dave, all right, thanks a lot, Frank, you appreciate it. Let's see if Mark can give us a more descriptive picture of where he was when show Hao Tani's four hundred and seventy three foot home run landed on that standing room only area in right center field, Mark, can you do a little better? Hey, how's he going? We were sitting in section three away. The ball landed pen high, played a lot of golf pen hi twenty thirty
feet or so. Everybody's going out some like, holy, holy junked at the longest home run I've ever seen. My nephew says to me right before he hit it, you could hit a home run, and I'm like okay. Eventually two seconds later, home run. It was crazy. We all lost our mind. Best game I've ever been to. So when it bounced on that standing room area, concourse, how far did it bounce into centerfield
plaza? Took a big hop and kicked all the way back there. People are like losing their mind, like, what, how's the ball getting back here? Did you see somebody grab the ball? Don't? I didn't see who got it? Was I was out of my view at that point, but like this, I mean, I've never heard the stadium out loud of like a playoff game right there. Yeah, it was fifty thousand plus,
so I'm kind of familiar with the setup back there in centerfield plaza. Did it go towards the h the sports Net LA stage where would you say it kind of went towards Did you go to the concession stand that's right in the lost view as Susan went over, I was, I was, I had my view over, like, well, the ball that overlooks the stadium,
and then Susan went over that. I loved that. All right? Great, I mean, like if you guys were at the JFK assassination, no wonder they couldn't find the second shooter eight six six nine eight seven two five seventy. Let's go to Clayton Kershaw, who had the headset on when the Otani home run was hit for ESPN Sunday Night Baseball. Have you seen the ball hit where he just hit? I don't think so. That was amazing.
Yeah, like you guys were saying, some of the rities can hit him out that way, but for a lefty to go up there is I'm I'm speciless. I've never seen that before. I mean, that was as good of a description as those two callers. Maybe my expectations were a little bit too high. Eight six six nine eight seven two five seventy is the phone number the Dodgers hold on to beat the Red Sox today, nine to six. Let's go up to one of my favorite places, Ventura. Marcus,
you're on Dodger Talk with David vasse Hi. Marcus, Hi, David, thank you for taking my call. I just wanted to sort of talk about maybe the pitching. I know, we won these three games, and that's great, but I get it to fill ups a sort of struggling. But I just wonder if maybe it would be better have a clear role for Oh boy, at last, I hear you clear roles. They do have clear roles, Marcus. Uh. The Dodgers have established their culture with their
relievers. You have a clear role. These are the groupings of hitters to be prepared for, no matter if it's the eighth inning, the seventh inning, the sixth inning, and sometimes the ninth inning. But I'm with you, Marcus, the ninth inning is a different animal. Not everybody is made for the ninth inning. Yeah, and to see Ramirez in that Detroit game before the break in the ninth inning, in the three to two game, when the other guys were available, I just don't understand, Well, were
they available? Were they available? I mean, Alex Vessi would have pitched in five of the last six games in that Sunday afternoon in Detroit. That's not something many teams do. So were they available? It felt like they were out of relievers at that point. Well, I thought Vessio was warming up, and because you're going into the all right leg, yeah, it was lightly warming up. In case of an emergency in the tenth inning, Dave Roberts did not want to bring in Alex Vesia. Okay, Well,
I don't know. I just I mean, that's the whole point of this, right, Marcus. I mean, that's why you call in for the answers. It's not as easy as a video game, where you know, these guys cannot be used as often as all of us would love them to
be. Uh, they cannot be used five out of six days. There is bullpen management for not only a specific game, but we're thinking about the day before, we're thinking about tomorrow, we're thinking about the day after, and that's what goes through a manager's mind, and he knows before the game who's available and who's not. And that's why obviously it was frustrating that they had to go to Johann Ramirez, who, by the way, was used quite a bit as well on that road trip, so maybe he was out
of gas too. Yeah, I guess I just, you know, I feel like this in general, right, like Kik here and anders is a shortstop and then left field and then I just think guys need clear roles. Switching them all around, it's just not the way to handle it. That's
his role, that's been role his entire career. Well, I look at some of the plays, some of the error, some of the things that happen, and I just think it's hard for guys to you know, it's very difficult to play the infield in general, and to just you know, stick a guy in there. It hasn't been the defense for k K or Rojas. It's been the offense for those guys, and key K came to life. So I feel like you're going on different tangents here and just making
blanket statements. Well, I'm just trying to say the idea of clear roles. I think when I look at championship teams, they don't normally have guys that are doing all this right. I feel like they are to find roles. I just explain the relief roles. Like Blake Tryna knows he is going to put out fires for these specific groupings of hitters, Daniel Hudson, everybody
in that bullpen understands their role. It's just not as conventional or the way we grew up with it, where you have the seventh inning, you have the eighth inning, and you have the ninth inning. The Dodgers don't have that type of Kenley Janssen closer type of guy in this bullpen right now, but they do have clear, defined roles. Okay, well, thank you for the phone call. Eight six six nine eight seven two five seventy is the phone number. I don't know how much clearer I can make that.
I mean, this has been going on since Dave Roberts took over as the manager and becoming more clear every year, especially since Kenley has moved on when he went to the Braves and now as with the Red Sox, the Dodgers had Craig Kimbrol the year after Kenley left, that kind of turned into a disaster. And then you know, he was the closer, the ninth inning
guy, and they deployed the other guys the same way I described. Evan Phillips more nights than not has gotten the ninth inning, but right now he's struggling, so they have to go to a combination of different pitchers, whether it's Alex Vesia or Daniel Hudson. Blake Trinon definitely can be a closer, but if Evan Phillips is not performing on all cylinders, you can lose the game in the fifth inning as easily as you can lose the game in the
eighth or ninth inning. So I feel like the Dodgers need to get Evan back on track and using his fastball for him to get back in that dominant role. Eight six, six, nine eighty seven, two five seventy is the phone number. Let's go out to Steven riverside. You're on Dodger Talk. Hi, Steve, Hey, Dave, how you doing. I'm doing great, Yeah, I just wanted to know just call in if you can wish my son a happy birthday. It's his fourteenth birthday today is happy for
a Dodgers win. All right. What's your son's birthday today? His name is Jason, Jason Jason from all of us from Dodgers Stadium. Happy birthday, all right, Dave, thank you. Wow, that was like a radio cameo right there. Eight six six, nine eighty seven two five seventy is the phone number. We're gonna take a time out here on Dodger Talk.
When we come back, we'll check in with Jose Mota. Also, you'll hear part of Adrian and Beltray speech because today he was inducted into Baseball's Hall of Fame, going in as a ranger, but the roots were right here in the Dodger organization. So we'll hear from Adrian as well. A special day out there in Cooperstown for him and his family and the others that were inducted. Jim Leland, Todd Helton, Joe Mauer. Congratulations to all
of them. Dodgers sweep the Boston. Dodgers sweep Boston, get the brooms out in Beantown at the Charles River La beat you nine to six. The final score at Dodger Stadium on a five to seventy LA Sports. Dodger Talk is available on AM five seventy LA sports dot com, hand on the iHeartRadio app. Back to more Dodger Talk with Dodger insider David Basse to one is hammer Day bright center field way. Then Otani joins the home run party.
A thirty home run season for shaw Hey O'tani four hundred and seventy three feet. That was an incredible home run bottom of the fifth inning, the back end of back to back home runs with Austin Barnes. Shohey O'tani becomes the first player in the National League to hit thirty home runs. What a shot. The farthest home run hit since John Carlos Stanton's home run that hit the roof in right feet or in left field ten years ago. That one hit
the standing room only concourse area in left center field. An incredible display of power by sho Hey Otani, who now has seven home runs this year that have gone at least four hundred and forty feet. That one four hundred and seventy three feet And if you can leave this Dodger Stadium, which was never known as a hitters ballpark, six of those seven home runs that have gone four hundred and forty feet for Otani have been hit here at Dodger Stadium.
Eight six six ninety seven two five seventy is the phone number. Just want to give you an update on Miguel Rojas, who left this game in early in the second or third inning today. He left with right forearm tightness and hopefully he is not out for too long because he is obviously one of the best, if not the best, defensive shortstop in the National League and has held down shortstop with Mookie Betts being on the il. So hopefully he's not
out too long. If he is, Keik Hernandez will slide over like he did today. Kevin Bigio at third base. All right, let's get to Jose Moda. It's time to go around the horn with Jose Mota. Jose Mota filling in for Rick Monday again today. Jose. Wow, what a home run by show? Hey Otani. I was talking to some of the Boston Riders. Alex Spire from the Globe said that Otani would hit balls like that in batting practice at Fenway, But man, what a majestic home run
today. Ma Jessic to say the leads about Shoe Otani, who after starting off the All Star break in his home run in the All Star Game all for three with three strikeouts. Has found a way. When that left, he came in and that got him fixed. And today was just another impressive display of easy power. That's what we used to call it. Easy power. From Choey center Field four seventy three, four seventy six. It doesn't
matter what they just go. I mentioned John Carlos, Stanton Mike Piazza in the nineties hit a ball off the roof in left field as a right handed hitter. But have you ever seen a left handed hitter with so much power and hit a ball that far at Dodger Stadium, Jose. It was only nineteen seventy three when I was eight years old. I remember Willie Stargo doing that. But boy, this is different though. I mean, Tony pulled up blow. Can you imagine how he pulled that ball? That ball would
have landed. But nonetheless, Doctors Stadium for many years you know very well too, that we started talking about the names of the pass. It was not a hitters ballpark, and by any means, anybody that got that ball into halfway through that bleacher was superb power. But what we see nowadays it is spectacular and showy. We knew what was in there. We know the fact that I mean when he hears home runs the center field is when he's
going well. But boy, today the disploint we're showing of the guys hitting home runs was pretty awesome. Six home runs hit today by the Dodgers, James Paxton, Jose. That was impressive. How he regrouped after that rough first inning. It was twenty six pitches and you know, you always worry about the walks with him because it's been an issue for him. He's pitched with a lot of traffic on the basis. But I was telling Tim during
the broadcast, his fastball command is not there. And I learned this from Buddy Black years ago. Buddy Black will say, Hey, if you're fastball commands not their son, you know what, go to a break and ball to get you away from thinking where your release pol must be on the fastball.
And I think that's really helped. WI helped him today and with Austin Barnes also calling the shots and give him some nice targets with a breaking ball, not just in one spot down in none almighties, but also going away well, that got the fastball back where needed to be, and we saw some ninety six is today in the fifth inding, which was pretty impressive too. But you know, he loves the man with Dodgers Stadium. He loves the background everything that comes with that. And along with all that, as
you mentioned earnest too, he gets a lot of run support. Good for him to pick up. All right, Jose, Not everything was perfect today for the Dodgers. You've heard the callers call in. We all saw it. Evan Phillips struggles continued in the ninth inning with a six run lead, Daniel Hudson to the rescue. Do you agree that Evan's got to get back to establishing the fastball and use the sweeper off that Sometimes over use of the sweeper is a product of just not trusting that you're fast is going to be
hitting good spots. So what happens is then you lose track of where the fastill needs to be to command it right. Command is not just strikes, It's about what type of strikes you want to throw. And when you're throwing the sweeper a lot has a totally different type of pronation with with your wrists, with your fingers, but when Evan's right. In fact, there's a pitch that he missed today just on the outer half, barely missed it against
O'Neill, who came back and structed with a bick and ball. But when he's going well that ninety seven that he starts outside, it's going to run back and get people looking on the strikeout right in batters. It's not there right now, as they call it, Yankee at some time to make it better. And I think overall, you know, the mental state of mind is what I worry about. The most of the confidence starts lacking. But the stuff is there. But I think the combination of the stuff, to
me, David Wendy's changed. Jose Mota is joining us after the Dodgers sweep the Red Sox in this three game series today. The final score in nine to six, even though it was a guy wearing a Boston uniform. He's from Coron. He played at Long Beach State for college baseball. Jared duran Man to see him front and center in these three games six for twelve, two home run, seven RBIs. He is an impressive player, Jose. He does it all. He does it all with flair. He's got some
style. I mean a guy that has understood how to take care of his body properly. There's not one off dase, which I applaud nowadays from players, especially for a guy that plays with that intensity, and you think about how he covers a play, how he's able to stay in line with is and also the fact that he can drive it baseball. Mean between the triples there are ten of them, and then the doubles and home runs. They better lock him up soon because this has got some bigger things ahead of him
and stay. He plays like a winner. You know, he doesn't take plays off. In other words, you know the big football term. He had a ground ball second base yesterday and he hustled all the way through, which is something that teammates applaud. So happy and proud of Somebody liked that because Mike Soshi told me about him a few years back when he had him, and he goes keep around this kid because being a local product, being a dirt bag, he brings a lot to the table when now we're seeing
at him, especially after altar performance. Yeah, Mike Siosha managed him for the USA Olympic team a few years back, for sure, and no Mar Garciapara said the same thing as j Jose. He has taken notice of how hard Jaron Duran runs to first base, no matter what the score is, no matter where the ball is hit. And he said that's a big reason
why Boston fans love him, because that's something Nomar did as well. That's true because you know what fans over there know ring well that guys like this forget about the numbers, are putting every single effort to make sure that when you come to support them, he's going to give you out there the best effort possible and put on a good show. But he's athletic and understand the game out of which is another sing Dave. He's athletic, but also he's
a very big Ballplayer's the game at this level. What he's running at this level is taking it to the next level, which is superstoudom. Yeah, no doubt. Jaron Duran drafted four spots ahead of James Autman in the twenty eighteenth MLB draft in the seventh round. How about that, Jose, Well, talk to you tomorrow, Snell Zilla and River Ryan Giants Dodgers. You'll be on the call with Steven Nelson. Should be a fun one. Thank
you all right, there he goes. Jose Mota, part of the Dodgers Spanish radio broadcast, has filled in for Rick Monday, who is fine, just taking a few extra days off after the All Star break. Rick will rejoin the Dodgers in Houston after these four games against San Francisco. Daniels Jewelers is the official sponsor of the Trip around the Diamond. You're on Dodger Talk with David vasse Hi. Andy, Hi, Dave, I just honestly wanted to switch it up a little and talk about Agrian Beltray. Yeah. I just want to say that, Yeah, I love Agrient Balta. I mean I wish he would
have just just served his entire career as a Dodger. We didn't have the right ownership to keep him and sign them, and and maybe if we did, we he'd have been a champion with the Dodgers. I loved going to the games and just sitting above, you know, right down third baseline and just cheering him on. He he had a lot of good teammates too along the way, but I just hated to see him go when he left. And you know, I think he went to Seattle and then from Seattle to
the Rangers. I don't know, but I wish he could have just served his entire career as a Dodger. He was just one of the great ones, no doubt. And Paul de Podesta, the GM at the time, got played by Scott Boris or history might be a little bit different, but
certainly we all remember Adrian in that great two thousand and four season. Appreciate you calling an A and D, which brings us to the part of Adrian Beltray's speech where he did reflect on his time and his start in Major League Baseball when he was called up as a nineteen year old in nineteen ninety eight by then interim GM Tommy Lesorda. I was always be grateful to adult years to give an opportunity this fifteen year old kid from the Menicot Republic to sent
me to my professional contract. Now my dream will become a personal basic player. It was now a reality for at my age, I still I had more to learn and great people to teach me. On June nineteen ninety eight, when I was in Double A, I received one of the most important
calls of my life. I want to thank these leggings so much forget me the opportunity in having the guts to call this nineteen year kid for the winnic and Republic to the big League where nobody was expecting me, especially to me, I was always be grateful to the lay told me that sort of them, I made it to the big league. So I started learning from guys Laco, Sevis Guyino, Marcus Grison, Ramon Martinez, Bobbie and then it says I studies there Roberts Alix Coda, one of my favorite teammates ever at
Flago Sean Green. I spent seven seasons in LA. Some of the year was difficult, but shaped me and made me tough and stronger mentally. So thank you to all the miners and coaches in LA, especially Jim Tracy, Manny Mota, Jimmy led, John Shelby and one of my favorite hitting coaches Tim Wallack. Thank you to the trainer Stanley Johnson for being so cooled. He knows what I'm talking about. Thank you to the playhouse guys Alex Tors
img Pool and to the LA fans. I really appreciate you. You were a hot time when I sucked, but when I was doing good, you really let me know. I will never forget the MVP chance in Totan and four. Love you LA Fans. Thank you for support. All right. There was part of Adrian Beltray's induction speech, the part where he reflected on his time with the Dodgers and loved that he gave two clubhouse managers a shout
out his good buddy Alex Torres and the great Mitch Pole as well. That's the type of guy Adrian Beltray is and my understanding because he texted me was Sean Green was out there in Cooperstown. Adrian Beltray invited caesarus tourist Sean Green and a few other former Dodger teammates out there. And the managers in this series were teammates with Adrian Beltray and wish they could have been in Cooperstown.
Alex Cora and Dave Roberts but certainly they celebrated him from Los Angeles. It was fitting that Boston was here so Alex and Dave could be back at Dodgers Stadium to celebrate Adrian going into the Hall of Fame. All right. Tomorrow, the Dodgers turned their attention to the San Francisco Giants for a four game series. The Dodgers enter tomorrow's game eight games ahead of the Arizona Diamondbacks and eight games ahead of the San Diego Padres. The Dodgers are well ahead of
San Francisco in the NL West, eleven games ahead of San Francisco. In the NL West. San Francisco is in fourth place. Only the Rockies are holding them up from last place. San Francisco is forty eight and fifty two and right now turning their attention to the wild card race even though they are three games Can you believe this? The Giants are three games back of the final wildcard spot despite being three games under five hundred or four games under five
hundred, forty eight and fifty two. That's just incredible. And what is complicating the trade deadline where you have teams like the Cubs forty eight and fifty three in last place in the NL Central three and a half games back of the final wildcard spot. But these teams are going to have to take into account is this really going to last? And do you really have a great shot of a getting into the postseason under five hundred or at five hundred,
and do you really have a shot at advancing? I find it hard to believe. And when you're four games out, three games out, and you have to leap frog two or three teams that are above five hundred, I mean, I feel like reality has to set in at some point. But right now, the Dodgers are going to try to put the Giants out of their misery and really make them rethink their plans. As we get closer to the July thirtieth trade deadline, the Dodgers are expected to call up River Ryan
to make his major league debut tomorrow night. River Ryan, in five starts with Oklahoma City, has a two seventy six ERA nineteen strikeout six walks. He will be the Dodgers' fourth starter this year to make his major league debut. Yoshi Yamamoto in South Korea, Landon Knack, and Justin Robleski all part of that list of four more Dodger starters making their major League debuts this season. Blake Snell, the two times two time Cy Young Award winner, will
be on the mound for the Dodgers or for the Giants. I wish it was for the Dodgers. He'll be on the mound for the Giants zero to three with an ERA of six thirty one. But this will be his second start since coming off the il with a groin issue, and in his last start before the All Star Break, Snell Zilla pitched a perfect game into the seventh innings, so he's back. Blake Snell against the Dodgers once again. Morongo Casino, Dodgers on deck at six o'clock. First pitch between the Dodgers
and Giants at seven to ten. That'll do it for us on Dodger Talk tonight. Thanks to calling ye back at our Burbank Studios, Thanks to Dwayne McDonald out here at Dodgers Stadium, and thanks to you for listening. In case you missed any of the show, you can find it on the iHeartRadio app once again. The final score from Dodgers Stadium. The Dodgers sweep the Red Sox with a nine to six victory. Have a great rest of your Sunday. We'll talk to you tomorrow. See you send it away
