And now your voice for Dodger Talking like that, David Vasse, we are live at Dodgers Stadium after the Dodgers win a thriller in eleven innings, beating the Red Sox seven to six. Welcome the Dodger Talk. David Vasse here with you until nine thirty, taking your phone calls at eight sixty six nine eight seven, two five seventy. I'm sure many of you are excited for a couple of different reasons. A. The Dodgers one in eleven innings in

very exciting fashion. And b anytime in LA sports team beats Boston and beats them that way, you gotta love it. Come on, I mean, I've lived here my entire life. I don't own one piece of green, and there is no pink Boston hat in our house. I can guarantee you that so very satisfying to be here at Dodgers Stadium the last two nights to

watch the Dodgers break the hearts of Beantown. Freddie Freeman with the go ahead Grand Slam last night, and then tonight Keith a Hernandez, the former Red Sox but belongs to the Dodgers, comes up big a game tying a home run off former Dodger and all time saves leader for the Dodger franchise Kennley Janssen, and then comes up big to tie the game with a base it in

the tenth inning. And Will Smith, who is not a man of many words, but certainly is a man that comes up big in clutch situations as well, he did again in the bottom of the eleventh inning, and the

Dodgers beat Boston seven to six. Now, this was a seesaw game, and I know the Dodgers won this game in eleven, but they had multiple opportunities to win this game earlier in the top in the bottom of the eighth inning, Miguel ro Oha set the plate with the bases loaded and he's ahead in the count two to Oh, you've got to be able to take that pitch, And that wasn't excuse me, I'm kind of in the middle. Swing tapper in front of the plate, check swing. That turned out to

be an inning ending double play. That was a golden opportunity the Dodgers were not able to cash in on, and taking Justin Robleski out with one out in the fifth inning was something that everybody up in the press box was wondering, and so much so I got a text that Adam Wainwright, who was doing the game with Joe Davis on Fox Today, said on the air when they took Robleski out after four and a third scoreless innings, it felt like

quote Dave Roberts was managing with an algorithm. That are strong words from Adam Wainwright, who is obviously one of the biggest competitors of his general and not a guy that really was part of the analytic movement. I mean, I feel like Adam Wainwright, the way he pitched spoke for itself and kind of like Clayton Kershaw. He dictated when he was coming out of the game.

But that was interesting. And I know we're waiting to hear from Dave Roberts, but he talked about taking Robleski out and we heard it during the Clubhouse show. He just said that he didn't think he could get through the next four hitters, which means and every team has this now, the data, the technology that shows when a pitcher stuff is starting to trend down. That's when the sirens go off in any dugout, not just the Dodgers, the Red Sox, any team that is up to speed with technology, and most

of them are these days. That's what they say, and that's what guys like Adam Wainwright argue that managers and pitching coaches aren't why watching the game with

their eyes there beholden to the data and the pregame script. I personally believe Dave Roberts and the game planning from the research and development department for the Dodgers had the plan of, look, you cannot let Robleski throw more than eighty five pitches in this game tonight, which makes it very difficult for a manager if you're trying to win that game and you have a rookie making is what third major league start, and you're telling me he can only throw eighty five

pitches, Well, there's one of three things where you're going to pay the tax. You're going to pay the tax, and maybe not winning the game, especially after he put up a zero. Not sure if that was in the script. Before the game number two, a lot of people, including myself, was wondering where was Joe Kelly in the fifth inning? Why was it Johann Ramirez again in the fifth inning. But the grouping of hitters, the Dodgers look at but Johann Ramirez. I feel like Johann Ramirez is time

with the Dodgers. It's been a little rocky here the last three outings. But a bigger thing for the Dodgers is Evan Phillips. What is going on with Evan Phillips because he has looked very human, not just going into the break, not just tonight, but I feel like he's looked human since coming off the il. Remember he missed a month with a hamstring issue, and he has not looked like the Evan Phillips we have seen the last couple of

years. So that's concerning as well. But all in all, this was about the Dodgers continuing to not give up on this game, even after Tyler O'Neil kind of gave them two gut punches. Key a Hernandez, Andy Pajez, ta Oscar Hernandez in the bottom of the tenth inning come up big, and in the bottom of the ninth inning, Key a Hernandez with the game tying home run off his former teammate Kenley Janssen. So those are the cliff notes to me, and I will say this, what is Blake? What

is the game? Planning going on with Blake trying and throwing cutters to left handed hitters. Continuing to throw cutters to left handed hitters. I mean he got beat here by a known name from the Royals with a Grand Slam throwing a cutter. He got beat in Colorado by Jay Cave. Never heard of him either before in Colorado Cutters. The way he got Yoshida out after Yoshida came within inches of hitting another home run off of Blake Tryning cutter was by

throwing him the sinker, throwing it down, down, and in. If you're gonna throw a cutter to a left handed hitter, you better get it in on their hands. And I feel like the game plan is out. If you're a left handed hitter, Blake Tryning's throwing you a cutter, You're not getting his money pitched the slider. The Dodgers have got to rethink all of that. Ninety seven two five seventy is the phone number. Let's go out to Brad and Mission Viejo. You're on Dodger Talk with David Vasse.

Oh hold on, Brad, let me switch my screener over. I was doing off day shows during the All Star break and as I was talking about technology, technology got me. What's up, Brad? You're on Dodger Talk. Thanks for taking my call. Yeah, thanks for bringing up the pitching change in the fifth inning. My other question about the pitching is Banda when he was pitching after he you know, got the out when he was pitching to O'Neill. Do you think that was a good matchup when who was pitching

to O'Neill. Wasn't Banda pitching to O'Neill on the first home run he hit? Yeah, but he has to face three hitters there. So Dave Roberts was thinking about the two lefties in Duran Endeavors and band has been pretty good against righty's two, but bad pitch by Banda and O'Neill did not miss it. Thanks for the phone call, Brad, appreciate it. Let's go out to I Ray Craig out in Long Beach Sports Talk caller legend. I Ray, what's up, Dave? Are you doing? My friend? Hey?

Great to hear you. Good to be heard, man, good to be heard. Hey, listen, a big win today, great game. Boston is one of the teams I really can't stand. And when I went to Fenway and saw the Dodgers play the Red Sox back in a I don't know was it twenty ye o six or something like that. They got beat three out of four. So it's good to see the Dodgers putting it to the Red Sox right now. And I'll tell you what I'm with you, guys taking that starting pitcher out of the game. Man, that other cat came

in and just gave up ropes. I mean three catch out there. It turned around. If it wasn't for out, man, it could have been worse. He made a great catch out there, like Tarzan against the Morton Salt sign in center field. That guy, if he played more regularly, he'd be a gold Glove for sure. Man. That guy is just an ace ace defender. But great game today. Man, it's always good to talk to you, Dave. I'm glad to hear you on on the show. And keep up the good work. Thanks, Craig, appreciate it.

Eight six six nine eight seven two five seventy is the phone number. Dodgers beat Boston tonight seven to six in eleven innings and going back to last night when Freddie Freeman hit the go ahead Grand Slam after Alex kra walked Will Smith in front of him. Freddie was doing his pregame workouts and Alex Cora was out in front of the Red Sox dugout before today's game, and they obviously

know each other. Freddie and Alex have a really good relationship. And Alex shout it over to Freddie, you made my twins I last night, and Freddie responded with you would have made me cry if I would have hit gotten out. So that was a good banter, behind the scenes banter there between Alex Cora and Freddie Freeman. And we will hear from Alex and Dave Roberts later in the show because their former teammate, Adrian Beltray is going to be

inducted into Cooperstown tomorrow morning. So a very special day for Adrian Beltray. This is where he got his start at nineteen years old, when then interim GM Tommy Lesorda called up Adrian Beltray from Double A San Antonio straight to the big leagues to make his major league debut in nineteen ninety eight. Obviously, Beltray his final year with the Dodgers in two thousand and four, maybe his

greatest season, forty seven home runs that year, by Adrian Beltray. So we'll hear from Dave Roberts and Alex Cora about their former teammate going into Cooperstown tomorrow. Eight six six ninety seven, two five seventy is the phone number. Speaking of Cooperstown, Clayton Kershaw one day will be there as well. And here he is, after having major left shoulder surgery in December, is

going to make his season debut before the calendar turns to August. He had said, July, July, July, and I was a little skeptical, all right, Kersh, Yeah, July, Okay, probably August, maybe September. This feels like it's adding to the legend of Clayton Kershaw, where

he is coming back at the time the Dodgers need him the most. And isn't that the theme the narrative of his Dodger career when the Dodgers need him most, whether it's on short rest in the postseason, whether it's him going an extra inning, whether it's him making a start knowing the bullpen needs the rest. They always seem to lean on him when they need him the most. And it feels like this again is one of those occurrences with all the

pitching injuries, especially to their rotation. The Dodgers need Clayton Kershaw and he will be there for them on Thursday afternoon against of all teams, the San Francisco Giants one ten Thursday getaway a game here at Dodgers Stadium. Tickets are available at Dodgers dot com. You can be here to witness Kershaw's twenty twenty four season debut. And Tyler Glassnow is coming back on Wednesday night. So glass Now Kershaw to close out the homestand let's go out to Angelo and Ota

Mesa. How you doing Angelo? Where's Ota Mesa? Have no idea? That's that's right next to the Order of Clan California and Mexico. It sounds like it because your cell service stinks. But go ahead, okay, I'm trying to put it on speaker. It might be better. Is that better? No, go back to the old way. Sounds like you're in an area fifty two, fifty four and fifty six. Okay, yeah, thanks for taking McCall. I'm with you with that DV. I don't wear anything

green either, That's right. I told my kids, even on Saint Patrick's Day. I don't care if you get pinched a million times. No Green, I'm with you, bro. Yeah, that just felt so good to hear that on the radio, Bigio. Getting that button down. Yeah, and being able to execute the small ball is very very essential and anytime in baseball, but you have a slugging lineup, but being able to put down the butt and execute little things is very important. Hey, Angelo, isn't

that what's been missing? Even in today's game? It felt like the Dodger role players need to be more role players. They're not Freddie Freeman, they're not show hailed Tani, they're not Mookie Betts, they're not Will Smith. Be role players. Know who you are and play that role. I feel like that's been missing lately from the Dodgers. Know who you are. I'm in agreement with you on that one. And uh to uh think about thinking ahead on the trade deadline. Why not try to get greedy with our major

league farm system, the Tampa Bay Rays and forage. Hey, the Arose Arena is on the trade market. He is going to be traded, Angelo, The Braves have interest, the Dodgers have interest. He definitely would be a much needed presence, not only with what he could do on the field. But his swag and his edge and his cockiness. The Dodgers are too nice of a team right now. That's how I felt at the end of

last year. They are too nice. They need some of Randio rose Arena or Tommy fam or player X to bring a little bit more nastiness to this team. Yes, yeah, because we're gonna take that to be anybody that we meet up in the playoffs. No matter what team we meet up against, they're gonna come after him. So to be able to have guys that have that strong confidence and swag is very important, all right, Angelo, thanks a lot for the phone call. Be safe out there on the state

border. Eight sixty six nine eighty seven two five seventy is the phone number. And a guy that has that and when he's going right and when his head is clear is Keith A Hernandez today celebrating ten years of service time in Major League Baseball. That's a huge accomplishment and milestone for any player. And you heard it after the game. He was in the right frame of mind to deliver the way keyk Hernandez delivers usually in October, but October came early

today against his former team. Here is Keik moments after the final out when he scored the winning run. Key K, what a game for you? Late, Always ready, always clutch. Yeah, obviously not starting the game. You gotta be ready for, uh, whenever your name gets called upun and my case is whenever left he comes in to face a couple of lefties. Uh, it was really really hard to see that first of bat. But then you know, the shadows went away, and there's no secret with

what Kenley's gonna try and do to you. And uh, you know he gave he gave me a good first pace of hit. I swung through it, and then uh made a good base respect too, and then I sha, you know, stay on top of the ball and uh, you know, put the ball in play, and uh I happened to catch the ball out front. And then after that, uh, the third of bat, it was you know a lot of a lot of self talk, just to stay stay in the at bat, stay confident, you know, uh,

telling myself there's no better, nobody better in that situation. And uh, you know, I'm just happy that I came through. I haven't been able to come through for the team that much, especially here at Dodger Stadium and Uh, definitely a great one. It feels like you had a lot of clarity. Your mind was pretty clear today. Yeah, you know, it's a pretty special day obviously. It's it's hard to feel like it's a special

game when you're playing regular season games. And uh, you know, my my I got my whole family in town, my wife and and my my parents and my sisters. Uh they we had a great morning. Uh you know, kind of appreciating what this this whole journey's been about. And I'm just really thankful that that I'm back here and that uh you know, it's

it's it's crazy how the world works. But uh, you know, to be able to celebrate ten years of service time at Dodger Stadium playing against the Red Sox, to the other team that I played the most time, uh my career, it's a it's a pretty special one. And to be able to come through with the team twice like that, it's a start to point towards Hey, we know that. Keyk Hernandez really well, thanks for stopping

and congratulations, Thank you, Dave. Keyk Hernandez a big game for the Dodgers, tying the game twice and then scoring the winning run on a Will Smith base it in the bottom of the eleventh inning to give the Dodgers the seven to six victory in eleven innings eight six, six, nine, eight, seven, two five seventy is the phone number. We're with you until nine thirty tonight. Jose Moda is going to check in at the top of the hour. Kershaw coming back on Thursday? Did that surprise you? Did

that exceed your expectations? And are you with me? When the Dodgers seem to need Kershaw the most? He seems to be here even when he's coming off shoulder surgery which he had in December. Remarkable that he's been able to really do this when not without having any setback to this point in time. And he pitched in Oklahoma City what was it the day before yesterday and only four innings, so I mean here he is ready to go on Thursday.

And Kershaw was saying after his start in Oklahoma City, he doesn't want to put the bullpen in a bad spot only being able to throw seventy five to eighty pitches. Have you seen what the Dodgers are aligning their starters to do. That's a normal start these days for the Dodgers. They took Justin Robleski out after eighty three pitches, not giving up a run through four and a third inning, so Kershaw will fit right in eight six, six, nine, eight, seven, two five seventy. Let's go out to James in

North Hollywood. You're on Dodger Talk. Hi, James, Hey, David, I want to agree with you about what you said about Adam Wright. Adam Winwright's commentary about Robleski. Did he say that he did? He sure did. I was listening to the game and he said, in fact, he's not doing the eye test, he's doing the analytics thing. Now. I get that the Dodgers can't stand to lose another starter, but glass Naw's come back, Kershaw's coming back. I have to believe that Yaomoto will be

back before the end of the season. And pulling him early today Robleski, that is definitely cost the Dodgers. And you know, you got to be mindful of bullpen management. It's nice to have Kelly back, but you know, we need all of them back, and I think that when we go into the postseason. The biggest knock against robertson past has been bullpen management. He's gotten better at that in you know, previous years. But I want to ask you something that you just said about Kyk about what his mind is

clear? What do you mean by that? As the Dodgers insider, what are you speaking to there? Because I'm I'm I'm really serious. He gets me. He gets frustrated very easily when he's not performing. He gets from frustrated when he's not getting more opportunities to play. And the Dodgers gave him a great opportunity to play every day when Munsey went down. They basically gave him the opportunity to start at third base, and he just wasn't able to

produce. And sometimes he gets in his own way, and once he resets, like it seems like he has during the All Star break, that's when we get the key. K Hernandez you saw today, Now I saw something there, David. He said that he's doing like he's working with like a mind coach or something, and he does this thing where in between pitches sometimes he'll stare. He'll hold his bat out in front of him, stare at it and take a deep breath. Now, I used to see our own

Jock Peterson do that and still do that. I'm wondering if they're seeing the same guy. Do we like this guy? Do we think that that kind of coaching is you get that deep into it, James. That's their own personal issues, and if it works, it works. If they want to

divulge that information on their own, I'll definitely share it with you. But I would assume that the time that Jack Peterson reset his career in twenty seventeen September of twenty seventeen and what KEYK is doing now may not be the same guy because there's been a little bit there's a different mental health coach on the Dodgers from twenty seventeen to twenty twenty four. Hey, you keep your head clear too, James. Thanks a lot for the phone call. Thank you,

David, appreciate it. All right. You can let me know who your therapist is, and I'll let you know who Keyk's is. Daniels Jewelers is the official sponsor of the Trip around the Diamond. Stop by any Daniel's location and say a home run for your free team bracelet and fifty dollars gift card toward any purchase of ninety nine dollars or more. Daniels Jewelers owned the Dream. Yeah, we mentioned Joe Kelly, the King of Rancho Kuckamonga,

actually made an appearance in a game since what single demio. He's only pitched in sixteen games this year, fifteen before he went on the IL. So it was good to see Joe get in the game in the sixth inning and put up a zero there. He brings edge, as you know as well. Key k Hernandez brings edge. Clayton Kershaw brings edge, and the Dodgers maybe need to get a little nasty here down the stretch. We're gonna take a time out here on Dodger Talk. When we continue, Jose Moto will

check in. Also, we'll give you an update on Max Munsey as much as he will divulge. And we'll hear from Alex Cora and Dave Roberts about their former teammate Adrian Beltra going into the Hall of Fame. Dodgers come from behind multiple times tonight to beat the Red Sox seven to six in eleven innings

on a five to seventy LA Sports. Dodger Talk is available on AM five seventy LA sports dot Com had on the iHeartRadio app Back to more Talk with Dodger insider David Basse too o pitt swy base had Dodgers win, Dodgers win, Dodgers win in eleven in eggs, Will Smith comes up with his sixth career walk off him and the Dodgers winted an extras seven to six. Will Smith and the Dodgers had the white the red sox on the ropes as Greg Weissert was in a no win situation right there with no margin for er.

Alex Korra brings in the five man infield with one out in the bottom of the eleventh inning and uh walk Shoho tani in front of Will Smith. Smith got a head in the count early two oh, and Weisert needed to throw a strike. He did and will Smith did not miss it to score Keithy Hernandez from third base to give the Dodgers the seven to six win in eleven

innings. We'll get to your phone calls in a moment. We'll hear from Will Smith, but first we want to check in with the man that was on the call with Tim never tonight, the one and only Jose Moda. It's time to go around the horn with Jose Mota. All right, Jose Moto. What a wild game tonight, one of the most entertaining games of the season. What stood out to you the most about tonight's game the grit.

The Dodgers offense had not shown this type of fight in a long time, and perhaps we haven't seen a display like this on the offensive side since maybe the Milwaukee series at best. So I was very happy to see guys that got into a game. A little bit later, Kika does a fantastic job against that bullpen, you know, and our starter, you know, Jess Robleski has a lot of guts. Man, he loves that fastball. He threw it very well all over. He was able to keep guys at

bay with his fastball and pitch backwards. But you know, quick, Hernandez, I think we know very well, David is a key piece in this whole operation. Okay, it's an operation where Kik is a big part of it. And hopefully we'll see now with a clearer mind a kick, hernand is going to go out there and produce. But certainly I'll say, grit is what really comes out to mind for me right now today, Key k Hernandez, Let's face it, Jose is a big part of what the Dodgers

envisioned for the season. They traded Manuel Margo almost with two weeks to go before opening Day, just so they could sign Key k Hernandez. And this was the best game he has had all season long. Yes, it is. I'm glad for him too, because you know, I talked to Alex Cory yesterday for a while, who had him over there in Boston. Hayes, he has known kick it for a long time back in Puerto Rico, and he goes. He is so quick sometimes that he just doesn't realize that

he has to just slow everything down. But I'm glad that, you know, things are catching up with him on at least on the mental side, with the he puts his work. There's no doubt about it. He's a tremendous defensive player. But I think for Kik, it too is he knows these moments okay, and he does not make any moment too big. It doesn't matter who's on my own, how hard he throws, low he throws. He just knows that he has come through before. He wants to do

it for a long time, and it's important for all the lead. The one thing that I wish would happen. I think you know, we saw this happen earlier. Well, monthly went down. It's like waiting for Kiker to be the guy to say, you know what, you know, sitting me down. And I hope that it comes down to that time again where he's such a presence, where he's pushing to play, but he's doing it by the way he's performing and nothing else. Because when he plays, there's

a difference maker. And let me put it this way better, when he plays well, it's such a difference maker, no doubt. Jose Mota is joining us after the Dodgers defeat the Red Sox in eleven innings seven to six. All right, Jose Moda, I'll ask you the same question I've been getting, what is going on with Evan Phillips because he does not look like the Evan Phillips we saw last year. Well, first of all, resources are not there because location, to me, has not been the same.

I don't think as a matter of him losing anything on that fastball. Perhaps perhaps on the breaking ball, he is not getting the bite plus you know, a little tilt that he needs, not breaking ball, to throw it over whenever he wants to. And on top of that, when we started getting hit, your confidence goes down, so that it's a combination of the things. But his stuff is a matter of location and command. I mean, as hard as the guys throw nowadays, command is so important because guys

see more and more of the same velocities and the same breaks. And the Dodgers need him, they need it. But right now he's not pitching the highest confidence with the ball leaves, you know, his hand. He's not seeing that that feeling of what you're not gonna do anything with his baseball, So they need they need to get him straight out. I mean, you heard his comments after what happened in Detroit, you know, with Golden Teeth, and it was a matter of saying, I maybe need to go out

there and approach it a different way. Well, that means that perhaps the patterns getting too repetitive and guys are fringing. Because right now, he to me and I've talked to so many guys in the opposition's side, he's not very uncomfortable at that is he is. When he is done, he's to become very uncomfortable again and maybe get guys up the other side of the play and the lefties go out there and use both sides of the player effectively.

Again, Yeah, that makes sense, Hose, And especially when you talk about his confidence. That seems to be so fragile for every player, but you could see the confidence is not the same for Evan Phillipson. Maybe part of the reason why Dave Roberts went to Daniel Hudson last night against the Red Sox, even though there were a lot of lefties coming up. It's part

of it too. Obviously production performance old matters, But I think Dave Roberts psyche managers around the big leagues also understand that there's a heartbeat and you know each one of these players and the times you have to present to them the best scenario where you think they're going to respond well and not bury them if it doesn't go well. You don't want them to bury themselves, which is one thing that you know prevails throughout baseball. When things don't go right,

you gotta go out there and have some options. That's number one. If you have options, it becomes way better. We have death, It all becomes better. But you care so much about the human being, and then you want to see this human being go out there and straining things out, and they need him to be good because obviously, who wouldn't like to add another arm out of the bullpen. I think the Dodgers do need that for

the playoff run. But he becomes a guy that came bathroom and close the game four you as he did a couple of years ago with the six or seventh inn All right, Jose motive before I'll let you go. We got the news after the game from Dave Roberts confirming what a lot of us thought was going to happen. Clayton Kershaw, on five days rest is going to make his season debut Thursday afternoon against the Giants. Are you surprised it's coming

this soon? Yes? I am. I am surprised that it's coming this soon because what we're hearing was about Kersh, not about the month of July, that's fine, but about him going more than four innings, perhaps in his rehabs. You know where the Dodger situation is right now. Kersh addressed it well last night or so the press conference when he talked about that he doesn't want to go out here and be a nuisance to the bullpen, but if he feels strong enough and knowing that he's he had, you know,

once more setback and he feels pretty strong. Then Kursha's kersh Man. And there's some guys where you go, well, if he's going to be pitching and these of those bullets, where do you want him to use him? And right now is a perfect situation for the Dodgers where they're at in terms of the rotation, and to have a guy like that come in and sack and at least give you five. He always wokeme that with open arms for future Hall of Famer. All right, Jose, thanks a lot for stopping

by after calling eleven innings tonight with Tim Neverett. We'll see you out at the ballpark tomorrow for Sunday Night Baseball. I have a great one. Tim never carried me, so I'm quite arrested right now. Okay, Jose, I don't know about that, but I love hearing you guys. Thanks a lot. There, he goes Jose Moda, who is filling in for Rick Munday. All is well with Rick just taking his usual week off after the All Star break, and he'll rejoin the Dodgers in Houston after this homestand closes

out with four games against the Giants. It will be Tyler Glass now on Wednesday night. Clayton Kershaw making his season debut on Thursday afternoon, and before then and now we will have probably River Ryan making his major league debut Monday or Tuesday night against the San Francisco Giants. Eight six six nine eight seven two five seventy is the phone number. We also have some news now from

Fabian Ardaya of the Athletic. He is confirming a report that the Dodgers have signed Nick Anderson, right handed reliever Nick Anderson to a minor league contract. He was designated for assignment by the Kansas City Royals last week. The Dodgers have signed the thirty three year old right handed reliever, and he is going to get big league action after they do their work whatever they do to try to get pictures on the right track in the minor leagues and Camelback ranch.

And you may recognize that name, Nick Anderson. He was the relief pitcher that Kevin Cash brought in after he took Blake Snell out of Game six of

the twenty twenty World Series. Nick Anderson was phenomenal all postseason, but Kevin Cash ran him into the ground and he had nothing left, and the Dodgers said thank you very much when Nick Anderson came into the game and Blake Snell went to the dugout back in twenty twenty, but Nick Anderson reportedly has signed a minor league contract with the Dodgers, so we'll see whether or not they can have some sort of renaissance to his career. Want to get to Will

Smith. He came up with the big hit in the bottom of the eleventh inning to give the Dodgers the win. Here was Will in the press conference room moments ago. Yeah, it was a lot of back and forth. You know, homers, clutch hits, had all of it. It was, uh, you know, funny game to be a part of. Uh, you know, I wish we would have probably close the deal a little bit earlier in the game, but uh, you know, we grinded through it and pulled out to win. How much the value is that they have

these kind of windows yesterday and today tuk it out of the break. Yeah, it was tough, you know, final week going in the break, so uh take the break, reset, get healthy, you know, just reset and come back at two wins against the goodball club. Is is big, big, for us going forward. So yeah, back at its marrow, try to get a third one in a row, one run in the first four and twelve runs after. How much the shadows lay for that? Uh yeah, I mean, anytime you're dealing with shadows, it's tough.

Uh, you know it was. It was kind of weird for me. There was shadows for a couple of my bats. One was pretty tough, the other wasn't. So it just kind of depends on you know, armingle, whatever whatever reason may be. But you know, we're big leaders. We deal with that quite a bit, so we know how to deal with it. And then justin uh, you know it, So what guys do?

No shadows in the bottom of the eleventh inning, when Will Smith walk the Dodgers off with a seven to six win in eleven and the Dodgers maintain a seven game lead in the division over the Arizona Diamondbacks. The Dodgers eight games ahead of third place San Diego, while the Red Sox, losing the first two games out of the All Star Break, all of a sudden, find themselves tied with the Kansas City Royals for the final wildcard spot in the

American League. Eight six six nine seven two five seventy is the phone number. Let's go out to Newport Beach, Conway. Thanks for being patient, Dave Bassey. Good to hear from you, man. It's been about ten years since I called you, and I think even Skippert Kennedy was still on back then. And I congratulated on all you've accomplished since. Buddy, Thank you, appreciate it. Great game, you deserve it, and a great game. I was there, glad, I stayed for the whole thing.

I had a couple of questions for you. But first Obleski the kid was throwing heat and there's a kid in our section J one to fifty five walker around trying to find a seat. He had a jersey on for Obleski and he had paper tickets. I'm like, this guy's got to be family. And I finally went up and asked and turned out it was his best friend that flew out for the game. So that was kind of cool. They were in our That shows how high up he is. He's back in our

you know, far away from home plate section. That's as good as tickets as he could get for his buddy. But question for you. The umpire went out and talked to Oblessi and then he talked to I forget who it was in the ninth or tenth Also, do you know what they were talking about there? I am warning about something. Well, I'm trying to remember what exactly took place as far as the ninth or tenth inning, what they were talking about. I know early in the game last Diaz was not happy

with Dave Roberts sparking about the strike zone on ti Oscar Hernandez. There was a pitch that was as far outside from me to you Conway and ta Oscar's first at bat. That's the only UH run in I can remember with Laz Diaz and any one of the managers or pitchers. Well, in the third he went out to the mound, just the umpire and spoke to Obuski for a little while. But anyways, you know, obviously him pulling Obleski for Ramirez. Back to last Sunday, I wish Roberts let him have that clean

eight and going to the All Star Break with some confidence. Instead eleven have two nights in a row with a walk off. But I'm wondering. I guess that was probably matchups that he was doing, and UH which was obviously a mistake and before you add to that, but thank you much. All right, Conway, thanks for the phone call. Loyal listener to Petros and Money obviously eight six six seven two five seventy is the phone number. Wanted

to give you an update on Max Mounsey. I know he was on a podcast that he appears on every so often or every week, I'm not sure, but it felt like after he made his appearance and said that his body hasn't cooperated the way he would like it to, there was a complete panic

on the streets of Los Angeles, or at least on social media. And just talking to Max the last couple of days, his spirits are high, and he told me he has not had any setbacks and he is not going to divulge too many details because he doesn't want to put himself in a corner and if things don't work out at a certain time frame that he has and the Dodgers have, he doesn't want to have what happened over kind of a false start yesterday or the day before. So he said things are moving forward,

things are not moving backwards. But he did not want to give me many more details than that, and I could just tell you, Max wears his emotions on his sleeves. So if things were not going well, Max Munsey wouldn't be smiling and feeling good. And certainly that's a relief because the Dodgers are trying to plug a few different holes here. As we get closer to the July thirtieth trade deadline, it feels like the Dodgers are looking for

an everyday outfielder. That's been reported by Ken Rosenthal, And there's no secret the Dodgers are looking for a front end starter, whether it be Garrett Crochet, Tarrek Scoubale, Chris Bassett. I've heard his name as well. Jack Flaherty's name is out there. He's having a great year in Detroit. So those are the names, and I put it out there. And look,

it's easy for me to spend Mark Walter and Todd Bowley's money. But if you wanted Trek scuulball tomorrow, all you have to do is tell the Tigers we will take Hobby biaz and the eighty three million dollars remaining on his contract. Sound familiar, Yeah, the Dodgers did that back in twenty twelve when Mark Walter bought the team and they wanted Adrian Gonzalez and pulled off that big trade with Adrian Gonzalez, Carl Crawford, Josh Beckett, and Nick Punto coming

back. Well, the Dodgers didn't care about Carl Crawford, didn't really care about Josh Beckett. I'm not gonna say they didn't care about Nick Punto, but they wanted Adrian Gonzalez and to get him they had to take back the bad contract of Carl Crawford. Same situation here. If you want trek Schouble and you don't want to give up the farm, you take back Hobvey Bias's eighty three million dollars. And look, Hovey Bias is a world champion.

He won the World Series with the Cubs in sixteen. I'm not saying he's that same player, and I know he has his warts, but you know, if you want trek Scouble, you can make things really enticing for the Tigers by saying, we'll take that money and you give us trek Scuble for the next two years and the stretch run eight six six ninety seven two five seventy is the phone number. Why don't you marinate on that and get back to me. Tomorrow. In the meantime, Bobby Miller made his first start

for Oklahoma City tonight since being sent down. He went five scoreless innings, had four strikeouts and four walks. And Bobby certainly needs needed to regain his confidence and work things out, and it feels like he's on the road to doing that. I firmly believe Bobby Miller will be back in the big leagues this season and certainly definitely contribute here in the Big leagues at some point in time before October tomorrow. Adrian Beltray, he had his bumps in the road

before he became this Hall of Fame. He was not the clean defender that we all know him to be now. I remember when he first got called up in ninety eight. He'd make amazing defensive plays, but his throws would make Eric Carros go gray. And certainly he learned how to harness all of that energy and become the Hall of Famer that he is going to officially become

tomorrow. Adrian Beltray is going into the Hall of Fame with the most hits of any third baseman, over thirty one hundred hits in his Hall of Fame career. And it all started here with the Dodgers, Tommy Lasorda calling him up in nineteen ninety eight as the interim GM, not from TRIPAA but from Double A. San Antonio and Dave Roberts and Alex Cora were teammates with Beltray. Alex Cora actually made his major league debut the same season that Beltray made

it with the Dodgers and nineteen ninety eight. They were teammates from ninety eight to two thousand and four. And here is Alex Cora on Adrian Beltrade, the Dodger. I didn't see it in the beginning, but you know, after his last season here, he went to Seattle, right, wasn't great. Then he came to Boston and something clicked there, right, I think the spotlight, you know, was shining on him, and then he put

a great season. Obviously, it didn't work out business wise, and I know there's a lot of people in the organization in the city that regret that. But then in Texas he became the leader that he is, right and just the way he goes about his business if you look at his career, and this is something I keep talking to people about. Rafie Devers. Right when Beltray was here, in ninety eight ninety nine. Whatever, the thing that he had was upside offensively and he was posting. He posts right.

He played same thing with Raffi. Defensively, Belly became one of the best defenders ever at third base, but early on it wasn't great. I think he made like twenty nine errors. He averaged like twenty five hours his first three seasons, just like Raffi, right, like erratic, making bad decisions, and he decided to find structure in his defensive work. I do believe that we help him out. You know, his stories of myself and Robin

probably one of the best defensive infielders in the history of the Dodgers. And there was this sense of pride, you know, like not in a bad way, because sometimes we confuse pride with being selfish. With Belly, it was pride about posting every day, playing hard every day, winning every day, and being a Dodger the right way. And I mean, the guy's amazing. I was joking with Mike Fiori today this morning. He looks better than what he looked when he got called up in nineteen ninety eight. He

looks younger and stronger. I don't know how that happens, and I'm very proud of him. We learn a lot from him. I know he learned a lot about from the people around him, from Mary Carraz to Sean Gren who I think was the one that gave him the keys to unlock the offensive potential because they started playing games in VP right the opposite field Homers. Yeah, and there was a lot of money involved too, he and Luduca and Greeney, but I think it helped him to become the hitter that he became,

and I'm very proud of him. Man. That's Alex Cora, former teammates with Adrian Beltray. Both men came up through the Dodger organization. Alex was a little bit older, a college player, was in Triple A when he got called up by the Dodgers in nineteen ninety eight. Adrian Beltray came straight from Double A as a teenager. And obviously those Dodger teams from ninety eight to two thousand and four especially have a tight bond. And Dave Roberts

became teammates with Adrian Beltray and Alex Cora in two thousand and two. And here's what the Dodger manager had to say about his former teammate going into the Hall of Fame. Man, there's first off, yeah, I'm just so excited for Adrian and his family. Quite the accomplishment, no brainer, first ballot Hall of Famer. My first year was with him in two thousand and two, and he was a guy that just loved to play the game baseball, loved to compete, came in fresh, positive every day. Probably the

best defender at third base that I've ever seen. I remember in two thousand and four he was basically playing on one leg and ended up hitting a bunch of homers and playing gold Glove defense and obviously had a tremendous career. You

know, one of my favorite people and favorite teammates of all time. And I wish I could be there at the induction, but I'll be watching, and it's it's really cool now for me to now start to see people get into the Hall of Fame that I played with, and so that's pretty special to me. All Right. That was really special to talk to Dave Roberts and Alex Cora about their former teammate Adrian Beltray going into the Hall of Fame tomorrow with what Todd Helton and Joe Mauer and Jim Leland. That is the

class of twenty twenty four. And it was great to see Dave Roberts and Alex Cora visiting before today's game as well, two former teammates, and man, that was a rough day in two thousand and four, I was in San Diego with the Dodgers on that trade deadline when that team was shell shocked when Paul D. Podesta traded Paula Duca and Dave Roberts and Gira Momota to

Dave to the Red Sox. Those guys to the Marlins, and that broke up a very close knit team and they would go on to win the first playoff game for the Dodgers since Game five of the eighty eight World Series. But I remember that day in San Diego. There were a lot of tears because those guys were close and they still found a way to go all the way to the postseason, beat the Cardinals in one game, with Jose Lima

winning that game and then unfortunately falling eventually to Saint Louis that year. Tomorrow, James Paxton will be on the mound against the Red Sox, the team he pitched for last year. James Paxton at Dodger Stadium this season is three to zero with an ERA of two sixty seven in seven starts, so he's a much better pitcher here at Dodgers Stadium. He's going up against Cutter Crawford,

who is six and seven with an ERA at three zero four. Morongo Casino Dodgers on Deck begins at three o'clock, first pitch at four eight on Sunday Night Baseball. Thanks to calling you back at our Burbank studios, Thanks to Dwayne McDonald out here at Dodger Stadium, and thanks to you for listening. Loved having Dodger Stadium electric tonight. Forty eight thousand, one hundred and

twenty nine stuck around for extra inning heroics. Keike Hernandez, Will Smith all delivered along with Andy paz Teoscar Hernandez to help beat the Dodgers or help beat the Red Sox seven to six in eleven innings. We will talk to you tomorrow. Have a great rest of your Saturday. See it
