Dodger Talk is sponsored by LA Care Health Plan, providing affordable healthcare insurance to millions of Angelinos for over twenty five years. And now your voice for Dodger Talking like Fact, David Vasse, I try to tell you. I tried
to warn you complacency was setting in. Welcome to Dodger Talk. David Vasse with you until seven thirty tonight here on a five to seventy LA Sports after the Dodgers are swept in Philadelphia for the first time since two thousand and eight, first time the Dodgers are swept by the Phillies anywhere since the rock bottom years of Frank mccork in twenty eleven, the Dodgers get swept in Philadelphia, losing tonight five to one. They have lost four in a row. They
have lost eight of their last twelve. And I tried to tell you and some of those Dodgers players, nobody wanted to hear it. Though I tried to tell them they were an average team. They needed to start picking it up. And complacency may have set in. And this may be the best thing to happen to the Dodgers, to get their butt whipped in Philadelphia. Maybe they needed a wake up call like this to realize, you know what, you're not as good as you think you are, and you're not playing
as well as you think you are. You can put blinders on and pretend like everything is great. Everything is not great. I'm sorry to break the news to everybody wearing that uniform. Things have not been great for a while now, and since May twenty first, the Dodgers are literally a five hundred average team twenty two and twenty two. Remember on the last homestand I told you, I spoke to a few players in the dugout and let them know
they've only been playing about five hundred ball. And they pushed back on me, and they said, well, we're three games above five hundred. What are you talking about? And I said, three games above five hundred, that's what you're proud of. I said, that's five hundred baseball. Basically, they did not want to hear it. No, no, no, no, dumbass vassa dumb dave, dumb dave. Look, I am invested. I want to see these guys bring a parade to Los Angeles for the
first time since nineteen eighty eight. This city is starving for a Dodger parade. You can't be complacent. The Dodgers are heading to Detroit. Maybe Dave Roberts wants to bring in Kirk Gibson into that clubhouse to light a fire and to let these guys know. You can't feel sorry for yourselves just because of injuries and just because things are a little there's a little bit of adversity now in the season. I would love to see that. Eight six six,
nine eighty seven two five seventy is the phone number. You know what you love to see. You love to see a superstar player who stands up in front of the cameras when things are going great and when things are not going great for the team and for yourself personally. You know who that guy is. Freddie Freeman. Freddie Freeman was zero for ten in this three game sweep, first time wearing a Dodger uniform. He did not have a hit in
a three game series. Did Freddie Freeman hide in the Phillies visiting clubhouse? Absolutely not here, he is on sports net LA. We didn't play very good in that series. Is nothing brilliant, just kind any different way. We didn't. We didn't really do much so as a group we just got to put it behind us and you know, go to Detroit tomorrow and trying in this the first half in a good, good way. Obviously dealing with
quite a few injuries at the moment. Just do you assess the teams or how do you I guess what is your approach to these types of matchups? Yeah, I mean we are injured. We have a lot of guys missing, but no one really cares about that, nor does this group in here. This is what we got. We want to go out there and try and win every ball game. We just didn't play very good the series, so we've got three games less to kind of end on a positive note?
Is it looking forward to the break? To just kind of catch your breath? I mean, we are still the first place team. We are still a very good ball ball team. So but sometimes breaks come out good times. But let's finish it off with a good series win in Detroit and play better baseball and then then it will be a good time for the break.
So you guys pop the heart of their rotation. But what can you kind of point to why like the bats, especially like some most key spots this week, I have been closed of the season baseball maybe next week if we had the same situation, we get the hits. I mean, there's not really much you can say in baseball. You can't really compoint. We just think it the hits. We didn't really get meny hits the series at all, So I wish I could give you this is why this work didn't work
or works, But we just think it hits. The injuries have piled up. You go back to the Yankee Series. Guys are of five hundred teams? Okay? Is that just the injuries? I mean I would like to say yes. I mean we are missing top five player in the game of baseball and Mookie you know, our rotation that's taken a hit. So but the guys I've been thrown for us and been thrown really good. The guys are in there. We got better guys we expect to when no matter who's
in this clubhouse, and we just aren't doing it right now. All right, there's Freddy Freeman on sports Net LA, and yes, mister beat Ryder, the Dodgers are five hundred, not since the Yankee Series, but since their last extended losing streak. The beginning of their five game losing streak in May. Since then May twenty first, the Dodgers are twenty two and twenty two. That was another question some players in denial had for me, Why am I starting at a certain date? Well, I just gave you the
reason. That was the last time you lost five games in a row. And all of a sudden, now the Dodgers have lost four in a row and they have to face one of the best pitchers in the American League tomorrow and Trek Scouble in Detroit. The start of the final three games before the All Star Break. Eight six six nine, eight seven two five seventy is the phone number. Dodgers fall to the Phillies five to one. And by the way, it wasn't just the bats not getting the hits. They were
getting hits. The Dodgers had bases loaded two different times today. Just mistakes hurt them. Uh you know, show heyl Tani. What was he doing swinging at that pitch from Nola in the second inning that was nowhere close to being a strike? Again, He just isn't seeing the baseball well and is worried about getting beat on the fastball. And he hasn't looked. He looks like he's back in a slump quite honestly, eight six, six, nine,
seven, two five seventy is the phone number. And let's not mention again ta Oscar Hernandez is poor base running in the eighth inning, which ran the Dodgers out of another bases loaded opportunity against one of the best lefties in baseball, Matt Strom. All right, Carlos and San Bernardino lead us off on Dodger talk. What do you got my friend? After this disappointing postseason last year, I told him, I was telling all my friends, I'm tired of seeing the Dodgers one up on. Okay, okay, let's just
stop right there, pot him down. Let's just stop right there. I do not want to hear about October or the postseason again. Everybody's talking about October and the postseason since spring training. You can't win in October, in July. The Dodgers are going to see the Phillies in August after the trade deadline. Let's see what that version of the Dodgers looks like. All right, Carlos, Let's see if you could finish your call without talking about October
or the World Series. No, No, what I was trying to get at is that I didn't want to have another one hundred plus win season. I want to do. Would you rather lose seventy? Would you rather lose seventy games? No? No, I just win seventy. You want to see you want to see the Dodgers win seventy. Now that's a ridiculous statement. That's a ridiculous statement. No. What I'm trying to get at is that in the twenty seventeen we had an eleven game season losing streak in the
September. Yeah, and you look at twenty eighteen, we had a fight for that final wild cause bar and those teams are hungry. They went into the postseason hungry, and we made it far. We made it to a World Series, and who knows how things would have played out. Dash was one cheating and I did. If they don't put in Ret Madson to relieve in that game again, the Reds because oh, now you're going back to twenty seventeen, Carlos, you're all over the place, You're all over the
place. Now we're going back and uh bringing up Ryan Madson in twenty eighteen in the playoffs in the World Series, we're talking about Game one sixty three. I mean Okay, I get it, And yes, the narrative for Dave Roberts and Clayton Kershot would be much different if the Astros did not cheat, and also if the Dodgers did not take Richhill out of Game two of the seventeen World Series as soon as they did. So I'm not a big
believer that the trash Cans were the sole reason why the Dodgers lost. If the Dodgers win Game two of the World Series, they go back to Houston up two ozho. But I mean, come on, we're getting way off topic here. It's twenty twenty four. You got to let that go to a certain extent. Let's go out to what like, David, Let's see if you could do something that not many can not talk about the World Series
in July. Dave, thanks for taking my call, man, And by the way, I would never call you dumb Dave, at least not to your faith. Okay, but here's here's the deal, dude. If you ask me if i'd run a root canal or watch this Dodgers team the way they are now, I think I might go root canal. This is such a painful team to watch right now, and I understand we're banged up. I get that, but we are playing like a small market team right now.
That lineup five through nine is like the Oakland A's, and that's offensive to the Oakland A's. We were exposed this series and we learned a lot. We learned that Vargats is not a major league left fielder. We learned that Outman is not a major league player. Yet the base running was hideous.
The the the only positive thing that I see from this is that is that you can only pray that Friedman watched this series and knows that there has to be moved to make because the inability to put the ball in play with runners in scoring position is absolutely abysmal. And you cannot do that in the major leagues and if you want to win anything. So what I want to ask you, Dave, is and there's so many needs that this team has.
I want to ask you, what is the most important trade that we need to make to turn this thing around it for the second half of the season. It's starting pitching. That's a simple answer. The Dodgers are decimated by injuries and ineffectiveness and waiting on guys that may never come back. They need starting pitching. And it starts with Garrett Crochet and Nathan Valdi. And if they can't get one of those two guys, go to Toronto and get
Chris Bassett or Kevin Gossman. I know I'm starting to hear more about Jack Flaherty. Is he really the answer? He might be part of the solution, but he's not the guy that I want to see the Dodgers get and be done with. I I totally agree all those names that you mentioned would be great pick us, but I'm wondering the oblique is a tough, tough injury to recover from. And let's face it, you know Max Munsey coming
back in mid August, maybe September. I am just not convinced that he can contribute like the Max Monthy we're used to uh in years in the past. I'm wondering if there's a third basement out there, maybe a package deal with the Marlins. I know that Jake Berger's not having a great season,
but the guy has a decent glove, he has some slug. You put him together with a Tanner Scott a package deal, you got yourself a seventh You know what a lineup that could you could trade for Bob Bashett and slide Miguel Rojas to third base, and you have Mookie at second, Bashett at short, and you have Miguel Rojas at third. I love that idea, DV. But will Friedman give up the prospects necessary to bring Bobochet here?
I don't know what the cost is. The Dodgers, i'm sure, are telling the Blue Jays he's having a horrible season, and the blue Jays, i'm sure is telling the Dodgers, well, look at all the other years. So I don't know that you can't give up a bunch of prospects for Bashett, for Crochet, for all these guys. There's just not enough that makes sense. So the Dodgers are going to have to figure that out.
Thanks a lot for the phone call. I know Andrew Freeman always talks about how he has to pivot, and you can't really pin him down right now for July thirtieth, and I feel like this year, more than any other year, at the trade deadline, that is more true than ever before, because there are a number of different directions he can go, but first and
foremost, he knows he's got to solidify this rotation for the postseason. Because we just got a taste of the three best starters for the Phillies without their really best starter and Ranger Suarez, who has a case to start the All Star Game. I feel like Paul Skeenes, who pitched seven no hit innings, he's going to get it. But Suarez, the Phillies have four really good starters and four starters that you could pitch as the number two guy for
the Dodgers right now, glass now out. I expect him to come back. It feels like the Dodgers are being extra cautious with his back and managing his innings. But I'm not certain Yoshi Yamamotos coming back. I'm not certain Walker Buehler is coming back. And if he does, is he going to be the Walker Buehler we saw when he was back or is he going to be better than that Kershaw. You're really gonna expect him to be your savior again. And Bobby Miller's in Oklahoma City. So, like I said,
the Dodgers pitching is the biggest need at the trade deadline. Eight six six nine seven two five seventy is the phone number. We're gonna take a time out here on Dodger Talk when we continue more of your phone calls, and we also have another copy of Perfect Eloquence and Appreciation of Vin Scully to give away. It's a two to one ballgame, Gavin Lucks game of inches there in the fifth

The Dodgers now have lost eight of their last twelve, four straight, scoring only seven runs during that four game losing streak. You're not gonna score a lot of runs when your first three hit hitters Otani, Will Smith, and Freddie Freeman go hitless. Those three Dodger hitters tonight were combined zero
four eleven with six strikeouts. You can't win games when your three best hitters don't come through, and really, Will Smith and Freddie Freeman were non existent in this series. Otani kind of showed up, but he really did not make a huge impact on this series either, and Freddie was zero for ten in Philadelphia. First time in one hundred and thirty one series played for the Dodgers, Freddie was hitless. That's how steady he has been. Eight six
six nine eight seven two five seventy is the phone number. Let's go out to Ken in Newport Beach, Hi, Ken, you're on Dodger Talk. Hey, David. By the way, I bo I agree with almost every thing you've said, starting with the beginning when you first came on. Yester's pitching problems. Yes, there's problems at second base and third base. But the Dodgers are now three and seven and last ten games, that's the worst record in the Nashley Wess. And the thing that I'm having trouble with,
Otani has eighteen strikeouts in the last ten games. Eighteen and ten games. That's what's really killing the team right now because he's leaving runners on and he's swinging at bad pitches, he's pulling his right legout. What the heck is going on with him? Well, sometimes it becomes more about me than team in my opinion with Otani, Look, he was red hot because he was not chasing pitches outside of the strike zone. And Otani, let's make no
mistake about it, he's a great hitter. He's hitting over three hundred, but he's a power hitter. He's a slugger at heart. And that's why I believe when Mookie Bets comes back, there is no question Mookie should go back to the leadoff spot. Intani should go to the two spot or maybe even the three spot, because, as Mike Soosha used to like to say, you want to have your big boys eat, You want them to hit
those three run home runs that these analytic people love to talk about. So, for me, Otani is a great hitter, make no mistake about it. But at heart he in stretches, starts to look like a slugger that's looking for the home run, and expands his strike zone. Yeah, I agree, one hundred percent. I've said that to several people that three and seven is bothering me. But Otani striking out that many times is crazy. All Right, thank you for the phone call, Ken. I will say
this. I mean what Ken said there was a little misleading. As I said during the Clubhouse Show, the silver lining for the Dodgers is the rest of the division is not doing much of anything. The Dodgers have opened up the door for the San Diego Padres and they have not walked through it. The Dodgers have lost four in a row. The Padres, who don't have a game tonight and open up a three game series against the Braves, have also lost four in a row. There's nobody else in the division that has
a winning streak going. Right now, the Dodgers, even with this ugly stretch and really, like I said, being average since the middle of May, they still have a seven game lead in the division. What does that say about the rest of the NL West? And that's why I understand what the frustration's about. It's not about you don't believe the Dodgers are going to win this division. It's more about how do they set themselves up to be
ready for the postseason. But I still maintain you gotta get there first, and you want to have one of the top two seeds so you don't have to play in that first round. And right now, with the Dodgers losing four in a row, despite beating the Brewers two out of three, they're back to only being one game ahead of Milwaukee in the lost column for that all important second seed in the National League postseason. Eight six six nine eight
seven two five seventy is the phone number. Let's go out to Century City. Zach, you're on Dodger Talk. How you doing? Not too bad? Dave, good to talk to you. Thank you. My question is,
yeah, of course, sort of. I guess a bright side that this ugly baseball that the Dodgers have been playing is that a lot of their mistakes are preventable, and especially with this break coming up, what do you think that they're going to do and what should they do to sort of address those very preventable mistakes, you know, questionable base running, things like that, you know, chasing pitches, all very very preventable things. It goes
back to your mentality and your focus, Zach. I think you have to have the focus and you can't see the finish line of the All Star break and the vacation with your kids and going to Texas and having a good time at the All Star Game. You've got to be able to run through that finish line. And for me, it feels like, and I felt this way for the last couple of weeks, the Dodgers have become complacent and they
feel like it's just going to happen for them. And a lot of these players have wanted opportunities, have complained about being platoon players, and now they're getting that everyday chance and they're trying to do too much and they're not delivering. Yeah, I really hope they I hate to bring it up. I know you say don't bring up October, but I really hope they can shake this complacency by then, because it's going to become a big issue if it's
not addressed. So let's talk about it. Let's talk about the Dodgers after the trade deadline, and we can assess what they were able to do to plug some of these holes. Hey, Zach, would you like a copy of Perfect Eloquence an Appreciation for Vincecully? That would be amazing. Thanks so much to Hey, My pleasure, Christmas came early. Eight six six ninet eighty seven two five seventy is the phone number. Let's go out to Eric in Hollywood. You're on Dodger Talk with David vasse Hi, Eric Dodger Dish. Sure, wow, man, we got owned by the best team in the National League. Dv Our. Pitching is hurting in this series. I saw what good pitching, that good hitty. We'll get you man, when everybody's on pun stuff like that. I mean, they're gonna take it to you, man. But but that's where we need to
get to it. And I get it. I get it. This one hurts, but it's early. We can fix this. Dv tag Freedman. Let them know we need a bitching. A starter is needed. Mueller and Kursh will come. I know they were gonna come around, but we need a bridge to these guys. So we're gonna need to pick up a pitcher. We needed to pitch up a starter. And you're right. I mean, I just heard earlier what you said. We need guys to step up. Hey, outman, got called back up. Do something, Bargain,
You're back do something, geek it ceet do something. You know what I mean. It's a tough, tough thing. Baseball is a hard game and I'm not gonna get down like I did last time. Bro. You picked me up with the Yankee series like you pick me up big time, bro, And I love you for that, and I won't get down again. But man, dbe, give me something, Babah, give me something. Let me know we're gonna bring this. I mean, I'm a little down now. Well I'm a little down right now, but I'm up all right,
all right, Eric, thank you for the phone call. All I could tell you is going into this series against the Phillies, if you were listening, I felt like the Dodgers were vulnerable to lose the series and probably lose two out of three. Did I believe it was going to be a sweep. No, but it turned out to be that way. But I felt like going into this series, the Dodgers were not going into it with a full complement of their players. And that's why I kind of warned you
that this series. Yes, everybody's going to be hyped for it, Yes everybody's going to be excited, but it's really not a reflection of what it may look like even the next time these two teams play each other at Dodgers Stadium in August, when the Dodgers hopefully get healthier, I'm sure Tyler glass Now will be back by then. Mookie Betts by the time the Philly come to Dodgers Stadium, maybe getting close to returning Max Munsey obviously more than likely
won't be. And then you add in the players the Dodgers hopefully acquire at the trade deadline. So the August matchup, forget about October, is going to look a lot different than what it's looking like in this three game, ugly sweep in Philadelphia. And the Phillies are a really good team. Don't forget the fact they went to a Game seven in the World Series two years ago and then last year basically gave away the NLCS to the Diamondbacks in Game
six. And they are still hungry. They are still upset about the way their season ended last year, and they have not come into the season taking anything for granted. And they added to their staff. They brought back Aaron Nola, who the Dodgers had interest in. They have four really good starting pitchers and that that's the reason why they have baseball's best record at sixty one and thirty two and the top seed right now in the National League playoff picture.
Let's go out to Javier in La. You're on Dodger Talk, Hi, Javier, Hey, Dave how are you. I'm doing good. It's all good. I just want to ask you two things. Do you think after the break, will Bigio and Lux still be on the project? And then do you think Autman is good? He's just not good with us, like I guess, kind of situation like what we did with Michael Bush. I just feel like James Outman maybe trying to do too much. And look,
he had issues in center field last year. We saw it in Game one of the NLDS last year he dropped the ball and that kind of started the title wave. I'm not going to get down on James Outman. That seemed to be a very tough center field for Andy Pajez as well last night. So for whatever reason, centerfield was giving them trouble. And in Philadelphia, by the way, they've been calling for a better center fielder than Johan you Rojas who rob Keik Hernandez of extra bases in the seventh inning. So
I'm not going to come down on James Outman right now. He looks better as a hitter the defense. He's not a Gold Glover. I'll just put it that way. Javier cool. All right, thanks for the phone call, and for those that are asking for Kevin Kiermeyer in centerfield for the Dodgers. Yeah, he would be great defensively. But do the Dodgers need another hitter that's hitting in the low two hundreds. I would say no, I don't feel like they need that. Maybe the Phillies can afford to add to
Kevin Kiermeyer, but the Dodgers cannot afford to do that. They are looking to add an outfielder that can extend their lineup Arandia rose Arena, a Luis Robert that can hit seventh, have pressure off them and be a playoff performer because arose Arena certainly has done that in his career. Let's go out to you kaipa. Eric, You're on Dodger Talk with David Vasse after the Dodgers lose to the Phillies five to one. Hey, what's up, Dave.
Everything's all good. This is Eric the golfer again calling you from your KaiA. How can I forget? But it's all right, Yeah, man, thank you for having me on. Hey Man, So, yeah, I wanted to talk about trade talks and stuff, but you guys already kind of covered that. But yeah, Freeman's got to go do his job. Get some starting pitching. But Hey, Dave, I like the old school baseball. Like I talk to people about Brett Butler, nobody knows who Brett Butler
is. We have outman that can be up Brett Butler. He's got speed, he's athletic. Stop it here, Eric, he doesn't resemble anything that Brett Butler did. Brett Butler development, Dave, No, there are two different types of players, Eric, and no. There is no player that is being developed today that plays the game the way Brett Butler did. And there was a reason why they called him busy. They called him bugsy because okay, that's fine. You love Brett Butler. I love Brett Butler too.
But to compare James Outman to Brett Butler's game, that's apples and oranges. Eric, I think that's that's what baseball on East if we had some of the athletic member toldy Man that guy was awesome. He was getting on base all the time, stealing bases. I'm with you, I don't mind having a Brett Butler type leading off. He used to have thirty bunt base hits infield singles every season and steal forty bases. He was a slap hitter.
He was a great table setter and really excelled with the Dodgers when he came over. He was one of those players that you loved when he was on your team, but you hated him when he was on somebody else's team, especially when he was wearing the Giants uniform. So I'm a Brett Butler fan, Eric, I've had him on the show before, but there is nobody in baseball that resembles Brett Butler, and I'm not sure it's ever going back to that, man, I sure hope, So, Dave, I
love that kind of baseball. I mean, you get those guys that are annoying. They're always on base, moving a round, shuffling around at first base, second base. There's nothing like that anymore. Wouldn't you say Trey Turner would be a better comp than James Outman. Trey Turner was that this entire series. He was on base, he was hitting home runs, he was stealing bases. So to me, Trey Turner was what you're describing.
Trey Turner destroyed the Dodgers in this series. In the three game sweep against the Dodgers, Trey Turner was seven for twelve, two home runs six RBIs he hit a grand Slam in the first game. He hits a home run in the first inning and completely rips up the script the Dodgers had for the opener. So Trey Turner was that guy in this series. Eight six six ninety eight seven two five seventy is the phone number. Dodgers get swept in
Philadelphia for the first time since two thousand and eight. They lose five to one tonight. Let's go out to Gilberto and San Diego, one of my favorite callers. Q pasa Gilberto, all of that it comost pass. Oh, I've been better, Gilberto, but hey, having a good time talking baseball, me too, and about that color, about butter too. But you know then there's nobody like him. And one thing, David, I
know what is going We're going to a roller coaster right now. And I don't mind that really, So they can have some introspection and figure out what's going on. They still have time, but they need to put it together. The one thing that you haven't I think you mentioned it, but very lightly. The bottom of the order is getting on base. There's just the top of the order is not picking them up. Before it was the bottom. The top of the order doing everything and the bottom doing nothing. Well,
I feel like a little bit more. Did you see today's game, Gavin Lux was the only guy that did much of anything. Key k Hernandez was over to Chris Taylor had three walks, which was nice to see. He did some good things tonight. So it feels like some nights more than others, and more times than not recently, the bottom of the order is not setting the table. That's what's been happening. But lately I've seen that they've been kidding. They shown they've done better than what they did the first
two months of the season. That's right, and that's what I'm going for. And uh, the top of the orders having a hard time. I hope they put it together. They still have time. But yeah, very good July. They all have a very good Roberto. You're talking about the top of the order, Otani, Will Smith and Fred Freeman. They've been there all year long. I feel like you don't have much to worry about, and you don't have to go to church on Sunday to worry about those
three guys. Oh, I know that I know that they're gonna go. Maybe you light a candle for the trade deadline for our pitcher. Can you do that on Sunday? I don't do that on Sundays. I can do it today though. All right, let's do it. Light a candle tonight. Thanks, Gilberto appreciated. Eight six six nine eight seven two five seventy is the phone number. Dodgers fall to the Phillies five to one. All right, we got a full board of calls here, but we're going to
the bottom of the hour. The Dodgers certainly have been playing very average. I wouldn't say horrible. They've given us a lot of excitement the first half of the season, but leaving us wanting more. And I'm not sure if that's us being spoiled. It may be partly because of that, but also the other part of it is, uh, they have a lot of good
players and they just really haven't been able to put it together. I'm not sure what's quite missing even when they have their full lineup, but they have a lot of talent and hopefully the chemistry can come together the second half of the season. And tomorrow the Dodgers are going to face I know the Tigers are five games under five hundred. They're playing better baseball recently, and the Dodgers are going to face one of the best pitchers in baseball and Trek Skouble,
so it doesn't get any easier. So we'll see where it goes from here. But I fully expect the Dodgers to win two out of three in Detroit. Going into the All Star Break, I felt like this series was the series the Dodgers were going to be vulnerable in. But come on, you're telling me the Dodgers don't have enough to beat the Tigers. They have enough. Now here's my concern going out of the break. The pitching situation
is not changing. Tyler Glass now is not going to be off the IL for that Red Sox series, and very questionable he'll be off the IL during that four game Giant series. Bobby Miller, according to Dave Roberts, needs to make at least one start for Oklahoma City. He's not going to be back for the first seven games of the second half because in Minor League Baseball now they mirror the All Star Break. There's no games. That's why Clayton
Kershaw had to rush to Oklahoma City. He's pitching on Saturday because Oklahoma City has no games during the All Star break, so you're going to be without Yamamoto, Tyler Glass now, and Bobby Miller to start the second half.
So I'm not concerned about how the Dodgers piece this together in Detroit. My concern is how do they piece this together to come out of the All Star Break and get off to a good start and continue to separate themselves from not only the Padres, but they're in a dog fight right now with the Brewers to avoid having to play the best of three Wildcards series. That's my concern.
I think everybody is a little shortsighted to think going into the All Star Break and coming out of it is going to cure all the Dodgers pitching maneuvering with all these injuries and ineffectiveness. It's not how do the Dodgers get The question is how do the Dodgers get to July thirtieth. That's the real question that'll do it for us. On Dodger Talk tonight, I mean, we could go on and on and on about you being very upset with the Dodgers.
The good news is there's a game tomorrow. Even better news, there's Dodger Talk after the game tomorrow and we'll take your phone calls tomorrow night as well. Thanks to Colin Ye at our Burbank Studios. Thanks to Dwayne McDonald out at Philadelphia on his way to Detroit. We got an intern in here too, right, Colin, who's your intern? Mike? Mike the intern supposedly play college baseball Division four in Boston somewhere. Maybe Richell knows him.
Tomorrow, James Paxton, the Big Maple, as Tim Kates likes to call him, will be on the mound. Paxton is seven and two with an ERA of four to twenty four. Who would have thought James Paxton would be the lone man standing as we go into the All Star break? Nobody thought that, and here he is, Like I mentioned, school ball going for the Tigers, ten and three with an ERA of two thirty seven. Morongo Casino Dodgers on Deck begins at two thirty with first pitch at three forty coming
up next here on a five seventy. LA Sports will be Fox Sports Radio and we will talk to you tomorrow. Have a great rest of your tap that Thursday. Once again, the final score in Philadelfia, the Phillies defeat the Dodgers five to one, see them,
