As we sit here on June twenty ninth, we're a month away and the Dodgers at atop the NL West,
are they looking to bolster their roster. There's a name that is floating out there as a possible pitcher that the Dodgers may be looking at at the trade deadline. Also, the Phase two of the All Star voting begins tomorrow on Dodgers dot Com. At MLB dot com, I'll tell you which Dodgers have moved on in exactly how many Dodgers could be going to Atlanta for the Midsummer Classic, and what some around baseball communities are saying about the Dodgers having so many players that could be going to
the All Star Game. But today the Dodgers will have Justin Robleski be the bulkeeting guy for the Dodgers, that he has been fantastic in whatever role he has been asked to do by Dave Roberts and Mark Pryor in this coaching staff, whether it starts games, whether it's a bulkeeting guy, which he's done the last couple of times out in his opportunities against the Rockies.
He did that on Tuesday in coors.
Field, and today he will do that following Luke Trevino, who will get the start to face a couple of left handers, and then Justin Robleski will come in and face the rest of the lineup as the bulkanning pitcher for the Dodgers. The Kansas City Royals are going with a leftander by the name of Chris Bubach.

He is a fascinating story seven year old left hander at in Northern California, Coopertino, California, the home of Apple went to Stanford, a high draft pick, a really good prospect, a really good young left handed arm that the Royals drafted, developed, brought up in twenty twenty during the COVID season, really took shape in twenty twenty one. Just not great stuff, losing record er neear five twenty twenty two twenty seven starts. He was three to thirteen with an ERA over five
and a half. It was a bad season for Chris Bubage, the starter today for the Kansas City Royals. Tommy John surgery three games into the twenty twenty three season, missed all of basically twenty twenty three. Came back last year and only came out of the bullpen, didn't start games. They slow played his way back, and it's pretty good here in twenty twenty five, his first full season back from Tommy John surgery.
He has reinvented himself.
The arm surgery has literally made him a better pitcher than he was pre Tommy John surgery.
It's one of those stories.
There a guy struggles arm injury, surgery, comes back, and he's better than he was. He was a good pitcher, a major league pitcher, three and thirteen, an ERA over five and a half Tommy John surgery. He comes back this year. He's six and five, a winning record in a two to eighteen er. It's pretty remarkable to see what he has done. It is just like that movie
Rookie of the Year, Well not just like it. That was a kid that you know, broke his arm, hurt his shoulder and it was in a cast and came back and was thrown a hundred miles an hour.
But you get the point.
Chris Boubach okay Major League picture arm injury, Tommy John surgery and has comeback a different pitcher and one of the best young pitchers still only at the age of twenty seven in the American League. And that too the Dodgers will face today. And that's why the Royals did not want to start the game on time, because they want to make sure he gets an opportunity to pitch the game and not go one inning and had the game stop because of rain delay, and then they lose

base to be the All Star starter. Will Smith battling out to see if he'll start behind the plate in the All Star Game, and Tai Oscar Hernandez Andy Payez, two of the six finalists to see who will be the starting three outfielders for the National League in the Midsummer Classic. Seven Dodgers have made it to Phase two, and that's not even counting show Hey Otani, who's already in. There could be eight starters from the Dodgers in Atlanta for the All Star Game coming up in a few weeks.
And it's interesting. You know, you're on social media and sometimes you know what you're looking at. You know, the algorithm what is it? Algorithm? Algorithm, excuse me, is formulated on what you're looking at. So I'm looking at some All Star Dodger voting and next thing, you know, a real pops ub and it's a podcaster who talks baseball, and I even know who this guy is. Not a
Dodger guy, just a baseball podcaster. Pops up on on Instagram and he's complaining about how many Dodgers there could be in Atlanta for the All Star Game.

He was thirteen and thirteen that year, four fifty nine RORA.
But on that June ninth, excuse me, that June night, nineteen ninety, he threw a no hitter against the Saint Louis Cardinals, again the second no hitter that day, as Dave Stewart had thrown a no hitter against the Toronto Blue Jays earlier, and Mike Soosha tells the story that watching it on TV, he made the comments, you see one, now you're gonna see one in person. It was the first time at that time in modern baseball history that two no hitters were thrown in the same day, so
pretty remarkable. Fernando Mania nineteen eighty one Fernando Valenzuela in nineteen ninety, tail end of his career with the Dodgers, A five hundred pitcher at that time, El Toro on the mound that June twenty ninth, nineteen ninety found it somewhere deep inside of him and pitched a no hitter in the Dodgers win over the Saint Louis Cardinals. And of course we lost Fernando Valenzuela last October, way too young,

Come? I would, I would prefer this is my opinion. I would think it'd be better if he come back as a relief for right now being you know, are books you know, tiring as it is, oh Tony, I think would be like a fresh relief presence and come playoff time. The two way player pitching every five six days, he's pitching once a week. In essence, there is no way his body can hold up being a d hitting three or four times a day as a designated hitter, and then also asking him to pitch three or four days a week as a reliever, whether it's one inning out of the end of a game, the ninth or coming in in a high leverage situation in the seventh or eighth. There's no way you can do that and continue to
juggle the DH spot as well. So the only way it works to have a two way player in modern baseball like we are seeing now in twenty twenty five is to have sho Heo Tani DH and the days he's pitching also DH. But that's once a week. Yeah, just once a week. You are physically not able to do it as a reliever and as a designated hitter and do it on a daily basis, It is just not possible.
That is asking a lot. We know Shoeo Tani is a unicorn horn.
But.

How you doing, I'm doing great, sir, Thanks for taking my call. Sure, I don't know concern. My situation is about Mookie Bess. I'd rather have a player playing in rice field betting three hundred thirty home runs and one hundred RBIs, then have a short stop betting let's say nine home runs and two forty or whatever I think kid is. He's a little hurt, or he's getting burned down at shortstop. I would love to see the Dodgers
putting back in right field. I know he really doesn't want to play right field, but come on, guys, we paid him a lot of money, and come on, what do you think about?
Who would you put it shortstopped in every day for the Dodgers. Is that Miguel Rojas, Is that Tommy Edman is that key k who do you put it?
Short eight exactly.
It's almost a combination because Freddie Freeman has really been biling Mookie out a lot on his thas you know, I'm just saying what a lot of other people are shureing. O. I love Mookie best man. He's a great player, man, But I'm just saying, I hate to see a guy like that. Man. He's so talented.

To just come up with nine home runs and hitting two forty five is something I think the Dodgers are to sit down and have a really serioushity talk with him. That's all.

I appreciate I think you echo a lot of for what Dodger fans have seen with their own eyes as far as the production of Mookie bets this year not being up to the level we've seen from Mookie in past years and MVP seasons.
Play is shortstop every day is tolling. It really is.
It is a grind to go out there and play shortstop in the major leagues. You're the floor you know, the field leader out there on the infield. You play a taxing position. You've got to be able to go left and go right. You've got to be physically able to have the demands of a whole season and get through it. Then you got to go out and bat as well.
It's tough.
That's why you know guys like cal Ripkin and you know Alex Rodriguez and no More Garcia Para were so good at what they did because they were able to play every day at short and the demands that that position has and also hit three hundred at the plate. And Mooki's been able to do it and stretches this year year, But this is his first full season really
playing shortstop. He experimented with it last year, of course, taking over when Gavin Lux couldn't complete it in spring training and they moved Gavin back over to second base. Mookie said, I want to play short let me do it right before they went to Korea, and then he got hurt right around Father's Day last year, got hit on the wrist, and when he came back went back out to right field. I'd be interested to see what the Dodgers want to do post All Star Break when
the grind of the season really hits. Is this going to be too much for Mookie? I mean This is a Mookie Bets making a transition to a grueling position on the field, not as an eighteen year old or a twenty one year old. Mookie Betts is doing this after the age of thirty. He's thirty two now, so last year he's thirty one. Making the transition to shortstop on an everyday basis in the big leagues.
It is not easy. We applaud it. We love his athleticism.
Certainly, what he's been able to do is remarkable because nobody else has done it ever. He has done it, But at what cost? With his offense two fifty two average, nine home runs, forty one RBI, we've seeing stretches in which he's just not hit for power. You know, it's it's taking a toll. I agree with all of you that have brought that up. Is the move to put him back in right field. Maybe move tay Oscar over to left field, keep Pas in center field. Maybe Tommy
Evan plays short every day. Maybe Tommy doesn't play short every day, plays a little second base. You can put Keith k And gets some starts at shortstop, Miguel Rojas and starts at shortstop. Miguel Rojas plaited a great third base for Maxi Munsey in Colorado when months he got the day off. You can float these guys around on
different days. Nobody says, if you're gonna be the starting shortstop and Mookie Bets goes back to right field, that it's gotta be one guy who makes every start every single day.
No, not a platoon either.
You can just every two of three a guy starts and then the third game of a series you move somebody else in there. Whatever, whatever the final call is, it could be done. But they got to make that decision ultimately, and they got to talk to Mooki about that, and he's got to be on board with it. It was his decision to go to shortstop, his suggestion, and the organization went through with it. I think it's going to take him saying, yeah, I tried it, it's taxing.
How about the second half of the season, I go back out to right field. I wouldn't be opposed to it at all.
At all.
I wouldn't be opposed to it. But we're gonna have to see post All Star Break what kind of effect it really has had on Mookie Bets. The grind to playing shortstop every day. Now, the Dodgers have a ton of arms on the injured list. You know that relievers on the injured list, starters on the injured list. Im it she and made a start back in Triple A Oklahoma City. I truly believe he'll be a factor in some capacity helping out this Dodgers rotation the second half
of the season. Blake Snell is throwing bullpen sessions through yesterday at Dodger Stadium along with Blake Trining. Justin Robleski is a starter who today will take a bulk of the innings. He's built up to go five six innings. Tyler glassnow working his way back from an injury, has made two starts in Triple A Oklahoma City, most recently in Sacramento on Friday. I believe it was five runs on seven hits, walked one struck three over two to a third innings in two rehab outings so far in
Triple A Oklahoma City. Tyler Glass, now it's got a ten to thirty eight er. Not great, but again it's deceiving the numbers when you look in rehab starts, get they're working on things. They're not necessarily going out there and throwing for v load just to strikeout guys. They're working on stuff. They're trying to get built up. They're trying to get ready to come back to the major leagues. They're not trying to dominate at the triple A level.
That doesn't achieve anything. So you kind of have to look at it a little differently. You can't just look at the number and go, my gosh, what has happened to Tyler Glass. Now they're working on things, they're tinkering with things. Okay, But with all that being said, right now you've got a rotation of Yoshi Yamamoto, Clayton Kershaw, Dustin May, and shoey Otani, who's now built up to two winnings. Assuming Glass now and Snell comeback, that really
lengthens out your rotation. But I'm not assuming anything anymore with this Dodger pitching staff. Why because just when you think they got enough starting pitching, they don't. Just when you think they have enough healthy starters, they don't, And somebody goes to the injured list with elbow tightness, shoulder soreness, shoulder impingement, body soreness, obleaque cramps.
Just when you think, man, they got seven eight starters. How are they gonna juggle all this?
Wow?
This is real first person problems there, first world problems for the Dodgers. They don't have that problem because of injuries. So just when you get excited all these arms coming back, maybe somebody else gets hurt. Maybe somebody comes back and they're not ready and they go back on the angel list.
It's just happened so much this year. I don't mean to be the half glass half empty kind of guy with the Dodger rotation, but I'm being realistic in that if they get all these guys back in the rotation, that's great, but I'm not assuming that that is gonna happen. Now I understand Sandy al Conto is coming off Tommy John surgery. He was a stud before
his arm injury. A Cy Young Award winner to Sandy al Contra is starting to get back to that level. Not there quite yet, but his start to get back there. Yesterday he had a major hiccup against the Diamondbacks, did not factor in the decision. He allowed seven runs on ten hits, didn't walk anybody over six innings, but he gave up his season nine ten hits for the season. His ERA is now near seven over eighty innings and sixteen starts. He had a really good June up until yesterday,
four starts to seventy four. Erra was trending towards back the old Sandy al Contra before the Tommy John surgery. But yesterday a little bit of a hiccup, maybe a blip on the radar, hopefully for Sandy al Contra, who the Miami and Harlans are going to look to deal and get as much as possible for at the trade deadline. The Dodgers reportedly are one of the teams interested in
Sandy al Contra. According to Bob Nightingale of the USA Today, to have his arm healthy and the Dodgers rotation would be fantastic.
I think it would be a shot in the arm.
No pun intended for this Dodgers team to get a Sandy al Contra, who again in four starts in June up until yesterday two seventy four e two and one record.
He wouldn't come cheap. He wouldn't come cheap at all.
Dodgers would have to give up some prospects, maybe a couple of young players in return for Sandy al Contrada, but man to hat him too a rotation, not knowing necessarily the future of a Glass Now is Sasaki or Blake Snell? And I say that not because I'm Doomsday or not because oh no, they're not coming back.
We just don't know.
Just when you think Blake Snell's gonna come back, okay, he's still throwing bullpens and it's almost the All Star break, Tyler Glass, Now two Rocky starts in triple A?
Is he built up?
Is he ready to go?
How's he feeling?
If you could have body sore on this and shut it down again, Rokie Sasaki? It has been quiet outside of day Robert saying, yeah, you know, we don't know if he's coming back, and then a few days later saying, oh, he's throwing on the side. We just don't know that unknown to me, has the Dodgers now looking for another starter to go with what they have right now because they don't know the status of three quality starting pitchers that are injured right now. So we'll see what happens
at the trade deadline. It's sneaking up on us. We're a month away from that. It's June twenty ninth. We're just over a month away. July thirty first is the Major League Baseball trade deadline. There are teams that have quickly become sellers, like the Arizona Diamondbacks. They're out of it. Teams like the Angels, who are sellers a week ago. Maybe they're buyers at some sort of level because they want to make a run in the wild card, because they're only a game and a half back in the AL,
they'll be interested. Over the next three weeks, We're gonna see which teams fall off and which teams make a run and decide to push their chips into the middle of the table and say we're gonna try to make a playoff run.
We're gonna add to our That could.
Up the ante as far as trade value for some players, position players and pitchers in Major League Baseball.
So we'll see how that affects the Dodgers. But just start thinking about that.

You're six games up in the best division in baseball, you have the best record in baseball, given you know what the Tigers are doing on in a given day, and you have half your pitching staff gone. I don't think anybody's complaining about the team, Jeremy, Jeremy, nobody's complaining about the team. I think they're complaining about the production of mooking bets and looking at what is causing that. Maybe here in twenty twenty five, and you can plaint to playing shortstop every day. I mean, if you're looking for an answer, you're look into what has
happened to Mooki's production. Offensively, you can make a valid case that the grind and toughness of playing shortstop at the big leagues every day could be weighing on Mookie bets Offensively. That's a fair argument to make, and I think that's fair of Dodger fans to maybe look at after the All Star break, is a move back to right field something that Mookie Bets needs to make. Nobody's complaining about it. It's how do we get better? How do we make Mooki better? How do we get more
production out of Mookie? How do we make Mooki Mooki again here in the second half of twenty twenty five. That's the simple question right now. If they stayed put with what they have, You're right, they're leading the division. There's six games up, they could have eight starters in the All Star Game. It's pretty fantastic right now. Being
the Dodge fan, nobody's really complained about it. They're just trying to make Mooky better and get Mooki back to that elite level at an MVP status where he was at a year ago.
