Dodger Talk is sponsored by La Care Health Plan, providing affordable healthcare insurance to millions of Angelinos for over twenty five years. And now your voice for Dodger Talk bike back David Basse. Welcome the Dodger Talk David Vase live at Dodgers Stadium. After the Dodgers hammer the Rangers tonight, fifteen to two, We're with you until eleven thirty eight, six six ninety seven, two five seventy is the phone number. Well head downstairs in a moment to hear from Freddie

Freeman. After the Dodgers hit five home runs tonight, Will Smith with a three run home run in the first inning and then in the sixth inning. That's when the Dodgers unleashed against Rangers reliever Greg Anderson. Four home runs hit in that sixth inning, including by Freddie Freeman, who hit back to back home runs with show Hey o'tim the National League Player of the Week continued to be red hot. Ta Oscar Hernandez homers for the fourth time in his last

four games, and Jason Hayward also homered in that sixth inning. It was the first time since twenty twenty one the Dodgers hit four home runs in the same inning. Jose Moto will check in at about eleven ten tonight. Also, we have a copy of Andy McCullough's Clayton Kershaw biography, The Last of His Kind, to give away, and we have an update on Bobby Miller as well. So a lot to get to between now and then. But before that seven run sixth inning, Will Smith's three run home run was nice

to see. It's proof that you don't have to hit it four hundred and fifty feet halfway up to up the pavilion to make it count. That was a home run by inches, but it counted for three runs, a three run home run, And it also was nice to see Mooki Bets deliver with the bases loaded and two outs in the fourth inning, because Mooki has been

struggling at the plate lately in his last seventeen games. Coming into tonight, Mooki was only hitting two thirty five, so it was good to see Mooky who only had that one basis clearing double as his hit tonight, but it was a big one and at that point it was three one Dodgers. It turned into six one Dodgers eight, six, six, nine, eight, seven two five seventy Dodgers beat the Rangers tonight fifteen to two. The fifteen run score tonight were a season high by the Dodgers and ever since been swept

in Cincinnati. The Dodgers are now nine to four, coming off a big series at Yankee Stadium where they took two out of three from the best team in the American League. Now these Rangers, I know they have come into town as the world champions, but the Rangers are a very different team in limping. They are without Jacob deGrom, they are without Max Scherzer. They were without Corey Seeger for the fifth straight game because of a left hamstring issue.

They do not have Evan Carter, who's on the IL for an extended period of time, and in the last twenty seven games, including tonight, the Rangers are now nine and eighteen. They are certainly not out of it in the AL West, but they have to get healthy and get things going if they want to be in the mix. Last year, they made the

postseason by one game on the final day as a wildcard team. The Dodgers, on the other hand, maintain a seven and a half game lead over the Padres in the NLS, they improved their record to forty two and twenty six, while the Rangers dropped to thirty one and thirty five, six and

a half games back of the Seattle Mariners. Before we get to Freddy Freeman, no, I just want to set this up that Freddy Freeman to this point has not got hot, but it looks like he is heating up because in nine June games, Freddy Freeman now is hitting three seventy five with three home runs and seven RBIs. Do you realize how scary that is for the rest of the league that Freddie Freeman is, as he likes to say,

treading water. There are so many players out there that would love to tread water hitting two ninety seven with an ops of nine hundred, which is what Freddy Freeman is doing currently. But Freddy Freeman now is starting to heat up, which could be scary for the rest of the league because we have not seen a hot Freddy Freeman for an extended period of time, but all of a sudden, now in his last nine games he's hitting three seventy five.

So that's a great sign for the Dodgers and the rest of the league should be put on notice. Let's head downstairs right now to the Dodger Clubhouse to hear from Freddy Freeman on sports and at LA. Yeah, I mean it started in Pittsburgh. We've started putting better bats together off those tough pictures, kind of just carried it through the weekend and kind of I stay off yesterday and we needed after getting home so late again. But a good start to

our home stand. WHA's been swinging. That's pretty good for a kid weeks now, are you personally swaying? Just what was the focus? How are you able to get to Dunning getting him out of the game and then even just the rest of their bullpen. Yeah, I mean our plans and offense is always trying to get that picture out, starting picture out and five as are last to set up busketting to the bullpen and making it harder for throughout

the series. We were able to do that tonight, put together good at bats, bade them use some relief pictures that might be down the rest of the series. So it's a good start to our par seriesarch that's one of the biggest difference to offense in these last five games or hitting the balls and there's nothing I mean, I know, I know it's like kind of cliches, but it's evan flows of the season. We're gonna go through stretches where you just don't get the hits when you need to, and the last few

weeks we've been getting the hits. You know. It's I'm sure you might ask us here in a month again. You know, it's just kind of how it goes throughout the course of the year. But you know, we, like I told here in Pittsburgh, you can see that bats even though this games game didn't turn out like you know, getting to them the way we want to, but just better at bats, quality at bats. And we've been throughout ten to twelve days now, we've been putting together good at

bats and kind of carrying over into hits the last couple of years. And you guys, shoot, so if you think the last couple of days, does it feel like a precursor and stuff? Yeah, sure, hope. So I just wish baseball is more of a guarantee. And I can tell you yes, but every day is a new day, when new pitchers tomorrow, so we've got to get go. It's Gray who's typically for me. It's been a tough picture in my career as face. So it's got great

stuff. So come out and today we we were just trying to get the ball off the bottom of the zone against done, trying to give force them into the zone. So we'll come up with the playing tomorrow. So if you can execute it tomorrow. Have you ever been more than any like that? How would you describe six? Yeah, that's fun. You always hear

it. Hitting is contagious, you know once Mookie worked the walkshow it's a home where you just want to try and keep it going to start the inning again, and you do that, and then we'll gets to hit and then ty Oscar does it again. It's then Jason, it's it's those are the innings are fun, fun for fans to come to those games. Glad they came tonight. All right, there's Freddy Freeman and certainly the Dodgers put on

a show. As Rick Monday likes to say, in that sixth inning, four home run, seven runs scored, rockets red glare as the Dodgers go on to beat the Rangers tonight fifteen to two, eight six six eight seven two five seventy is the phone number. Let's go out to Al who is at Dodgers Stadium tonight. Hi, Al, you're on Dodger Talk, mister

Bessy. What's up man? Just coming back from the game and uh and you know, just just being you know, you know, a witness to to how cool it is to have you know, five seventy you know, and all your guys' shows and stuff like that, and like the you know, just just what you guys are all about. And then you know, sending me to this game last week, you know that, Now that was

like, dude, top class class act. I love that, dude, like and then you know, I couldn't take my kid, but I got an opportunity to take my Northern Californian friend, which you know is a fan of some other team up there. You know that rhymes with you know the rhymes is something that I can't even come up with because it just yeah, no, they're They're a giant that I got you. I'm glad you had a good time. It was our pleasure to hook you up and you got

to see a great game. Thanks for the phone call, and thanks for listening. We love it. Eight six six seven two five seventy is the phone number the Dodgers beat the Rangers tonight fifteen to two. Let's go out to Madison in ocean Side. You're on Dodger Talk with David Vasse. Hi Madison, Hi, David, how you doing? What a great game tonight? I'm calling in to celebrate ta Oscar and his four home runs in four games. And I shouted out spontaneously the other day in my best Harry Belafonte

imitation, Hey hey another day, come Many hit the home run. Hey hey, daylight, come Many hit the home run. Game time come Mandy hit the home run? Hey hey, yes, yes, we got it. We got that one. Yes, yes, we get it, We get it. That was spectacular. Madison. You put a smile on my face. Alrighty, thank you? All right, that's all you wanted to do. Huh. Just celebrate his home run. And next time he hits the home run, I'll be singing it here in Oceanside. Love it,

Madison. Thanks for the phone call. We'll let Taoscar Hernandez or Talo hear that, hear that rendition. Taoscar Hernandez certainly is red hot, in case you missed it earlier. Today, he was named the National League Player of the Week, and rightfully so. He had more home runs than any player, drove in more runs than any player last week, and did it on

the biggest stage in baseball, Yankee Stadium, Dodgers, Yankees. It doesn't get any bigger than that, and Taoscar Hernandez was one of the biggest reasons why the Dodgers were able to win the first two games of that series. And Oscar Hernandez continue to roll red hot tonight. He was part of that sixth inning where the Dodgers hid four home runs. Let's head downstairs to the

Dodger club house to hear from Tao. Uh. Great. Uh. You know, we've been playing really good baseball and like I said, we having good at bats and that's why we're producing a lot lately. And you know, that's something that we're going to try to keep doing it for the rest of the season the best that we can and just trying to score runs and win ball games. You know, they say hitting is contagious, but when you see your teammates five home runs tonight, just I guess what's the reaction

amongst you guys. I mean, I feel great, Like it's awesome when you see everybody getting hits in a game. Get in some production and scoring runs. That's that's that's fun and we enjoy it. I enjoy it and we having a great time right now. You guys run out of sunflower seats starting at sixth thenning, Thank god, we had a lot. You got a bunch and in the dugout. Uh, you know, it's fun. It's fun when that happened. You've had a lot of really good stretches over

your career, but like this last week. You know, how has this felt just relative to some of your your best kind of moments offensively and are there specific things that you kind of feel that have led to this and that are working well at the plate? Uh? Yeah, Like you said, I have a bunch, but nothing like producing getting a lot of RBIs and getting a lot of homers I have. I had it before, but just

hits and getting on base, but not not producing for the team. But uh, you know, it's it's something that you try to continue to do it, having like those goose stretches throughout the season and just trying to minimize the bout ones. There is the reigning National League Player of the Week, ta Oscar Hernandez. He was part of that barrage in the sixth inning where the Dodgers hit four home runs off a Rangers reliever Greg Anderson or Grant Anderson.

Excuse me, I don't want to make his or have his name wrong after giving up four home runs and seven runs in total in that sixth inning. But ta Oscar Hernandez has been vital for this Dodger offense. We hear so much about how there's such a huge drop off after the first four hitters in this lineup, and no doubt, those guys are upper echelon elite hitters,

and the Dodgers are very fortunate to have all four of them. But it takes more than just four guys to make a lineup and to make an offense sustainable, and especially with Max Munsey on the injured list, Taoscar Hernandez

has moved up to the five spot and has thrived. And if you look at the numbers, Taoscar Hernandez has come up with men on base, forget about runners in scoring position, just men on base more than any other Dodger this season because those first four guys are getting on base, and for the most part, Taoscar Hernandez has delivered, especially recently now nobody's going to bat a thousand in those situations, but he's pivotal to the Dodgers scoring runs because

those guys get on base. And we all know the Dodgers have had struggles with the bottom third of their lineup. But I told you when Jason Hayward comes back, he is going to improve the perception and reality of that seven to eight to nine spot. And tonight Jason Hayward was hitting eighth. He got hit by a pitch. Tonight he homered in that sixth inning. He just makes the lineup better for a number of different reasons that are not always

as obvious as they were in the sixth inning. But going back to Taoscar Hernandez, Taoscar Hernandez leads the Dodgers now with seventeen home runs and four nine RBIs. The reason why he has more runs driven in than anybody else is because he's getting more opportunities than anybody else, and recently he's delivered. And he is a streaky hitter, but it feels like he's trying to be as consistent as he can be, and certainly hitting behind those first four guys is

definitely advantageous to him. And if you remember Jose Moda has talked about this a number of different times in the last week, where t Oscar Hernandez is trying to make the adjustments to the pitcher being more aggressive early in counts. But now he's not just being blindly aggressive. He's waiting for the right pitch for him to hit, and sometimes it is the first pitch, sometimes it's

the second pitch. But certainly he's been a lot more disciplined at swinging at pitches inside the strike zone and it's paying dividends, certainly in the last week or so. Eight six, six, nine, seven, two five seventy is the phone number. Let's go out to Edward in Mission Hills. You're on Dodger Talk with David vasse Hi Edward pad n DV. What a great game. The offense exploded. I honestly thought the home run derby was next month in Texas, but that was tonight. But yeah, you know,

you made a good point about Freddie. Also, I want to look at Gavin Lux I'm looking at his stats in the last fifteen games. He's almost batting close to three hundred, and not only that, I was listening to your show for the past few months and everyone wants to tread Gavin Lustre or pretty much DFA. But it looks like he's finally putting his work in his bats, so I want to give him some praise. I do have a question. I think part of that is him going to the bigger part of

the field, and tonight was one of those freak base hits. I'm not sure if you heard or saw it, Edward where in the fourth inning with one out he hit a ball that hit first base bag and went fifty feet into the air. I have never seen that, and more importantly, Rick Monday has never seen that. So that's how good things are going for Gavin lux recently. I was at the game, so I saw it. Was Oh sorry, Edward, Oh you were at the game? Oh yeah, that was that was a I was like what But anyways, I do have

a question. So it looks like Bobby Millard might be coming back fairly soon. Are we going to have a sixth then rotation? It's very conceivable because right now, thankfully, all these starters that are in the rotation are healthy. But is it going to be a six man rotation for the rest of the year. I don't see that obviously. Walker Bueller's coming off a second Tommy John surgery. The Dodgers are trying to keep Yamamoto fresh. Tyler Glass

now made a career high twenty starts last year. You know they have a surplus of starters right now. But when Bobby Miller comes back, it's very conceivable that, yes, they have a six man rotation and Bobby is going to make what Dave Roberts said is going to be his final final rehabs start on Thursday, and that would line them up to return to the Dodgers next week when they are at Course Field. So that's the way it lines up right now. Edward, Oh, well, it's a good problem to have.

I think Ni Colletti said, it's never too it's a bad never a bad team that has too many pitches, especially compared to last year. Yeah, yep, no doubt. Thanks a lot for the phone call, Edward, appreciate it. And look, the Dodgers started tonight a stretch of thirteen straight games, and we all know the Dodgers like to create extra days of rest during these period of times because they do want to keep Yamamoto on extra day's rest. They do want to keep the rest of the rotation on extra

day's rest, So it's not a coincidence. They're going to have Bobby Miller start another game on Thursday, a final tune up before he gets placed back in the rotation next week, and creates an extra day of rest for the rest of the rotation. Dodgers beat the Rangers tonight fifteen to two. They hit five home runs tonight, and certainly it was enjoyable to watch, and the Dodgers are riding high after a very sloppy series in Pittsburgh. They come

back and win two out of three at Yankee Stadium. That was an electric atmosphere, and they carry that into tonight's game, the start of a six game homestand beginning with these three games against the Rangers and three more against the upstart Kansas City Royals, and certainly the Dodgers need to keep this momentum. And you know, you look at it. The Dodgers, after getting swept in Cincinnati and losing five in a row all of a sudden, now are

nine to four. Ever since that took place, and it started when they swept the Mets and took that doubleheader. After being swept in Cincinnati, that kind of changed the entire vibes around the team, and the Dodgers have the second best record in the National League forty two and twenty six, seven and a half games ahead of the Padres, while the Rangers are struggling with a

lot of injuries. So far this year, they are thirty one and thirty five, six and a half games behind the Seattle Mariners in the AL West, and now three and a half games back of the second wildcard in the American League. And they're fighting with five or six other teams in the AL to be that second wildcard team. And that's how they got in the postseason last year and ran the table to beat the Diamondbacks for the World Series Championship.

And our guy, Corey Seeger was named the World Series MVP for the second time in his career. Obviously, in twenty twenty with the Dodgers, he won his first World Series Championship and first World Series MVP. I thought it was really classy of the Dodgers tonight to recognize everything Seeger accomplished with them

since twenty fifteen, all the way through the twenty twenty one season. I mean, Corey Seger was one of the most popular players over the course of the last fifteen years as far as the Dodgers go, and he is a Hall of Famer in the making. It stinks the business of baseball got in

the way of him being a Dodger for his entire career. But I love seeing that the Dodgers put up that video montage before first pitch, and I love that Seger actually acknowledged and reciprocated to the fans the appreciation he had for all that and the appreciation he had playing for the Dodgers. He won the National League Rookie of the Year. Like I said, World Series MVP.

He hit three twenty eight in that twenty twenty postseason, and for me, one of my favorite Corey Seeger moments was Game two of the twenty seventeen World Series when in the sixth inning he hit that go ahead home run against Justin Verlander and unleashed the most emotion we had ever seen from Seeger in his entire Dodger career. And don't forget he missed the entire NLCS that year because of

a bad back. Charlie Colberson had to play shortstop during the twenty seventeen NLCS, so Seeger found a way to pull up the bootstraps and be ready for his team in the World Series. As we know, things did not work out the way they should have in that World Series, but certainly still that was my favorite Corey Seger moment and it was great seeing him today, spending some time with him in the Rangers clubhouse, and look forward to having him

on the pregame show tomorrow night on Dodgers on Deck eight six six two five seventy is the phone number. Let's go out to Frank who was at Dodgers Stadium tonight. Hi, Frank, you're on Dodger Talk. Hey Dave, thanks for taking my call. You know, great energy tonight in the stadium. I haven't sought energy like that quite some time, and the big part

of that came from how many people were really there for singer. I mean, it was Joe Kelly Jersey night, but you know, the amount of secret jerseys that I saw on people's back shows that he still has the hearts of people out here and it was really great to see that. You know, I was here with the Rangers fan. We left about the eighth inning because it just got too what bearable for them, you know, better luck next time. I also wanted to give a big shout out to the one

three war hitters. You know, Tayoskar is getting those pitches because he's seeing those reads from Mookie, Freddie and everyone else. He is a wonderful player because he's watching what's being accomplished. And you could see it in New York when the one through four would go up and tay Oscar would have his eyes locked in and see him get those accolades. This week is a real big accomplishment. But again, let's thank everyone on that team because they're all studying

the game right now. Pasta, Freddie and Shohe for also taking their time again, and the pitching staff for being able to settle down a bit from earlier in the year. It wasn't great in Pittsburgh, but you know, it's never perfect as long as you learn from your mistakes. And you know what great team right now, Let's just keep it steady and running smoothly, all right, Frank, thanks for the phone call, Call back anytime,

appreciate it. You're right, it's a team effort. We see in the dugout the Dodgers sharing scotten reports on the picture that they're facing and that is the best scouting report you can have. It's by watching the game, watching the picture. And that's why you see Freddie Freeman he has the same spot every game, every inning when he's in that Dodger dugout because he's studying the

picture. So he's prepared when he goes to the plate. Not looking at the iPad of what the pitcher did in the last start or two starts ago. He's looking in real time what is going on with the pitcher, what is working for him, what is not working for him. And you could see the sharing of scouting reports not only in the dugout, but obviously you

know in hitters meetings and all that. But certainly you're seeing that chemistry where guys are not just hoarding whatever they're seeing, they're bringing it back to the dugout. And I remember that started a while ago with Justin Turner, and Max Munsey said this back when he first joined the Dodgers in twenty eighteen, twenty nineteen, he said, Justin Turner is the best scout for the Dodgers. When he comes back to the dugout, he brings back that scouting report.

And you're seeing that from everybody else on the team these days. Let's take another phone call Gregory and El Segundo. You're on Dodger Talk. How you doing Gregory? Hey, David, it's doing really good. Obviously it's hard to be upset about a game like today, but I just want to get your opinion. So I was thinking going into the Yankee series, like, he had a really great game today and I'm a big fan, but like Will Smith at four, the lack of power. I know, he

has ten home runs. It's not like it's the worst thing, but for a cleanup hitter, it's pretty concerning considering who gets one through three in our lineup. What are your thoughts and what are the odds? And I'm sure they're low, but if you were playing Dave Roberts or Friedman moving to Oscar to four, Smiths to five, and Monthy at six when he comes back, because ta Oskar, when he's not right, strikes out quite a bit.

And we all know Muncy and you know many seasons, LEAs the leagues and Walks will strikeouts, not independently, so there's a lot of like bang bang, like you know, strike out, strike out back to back. I think I agree. I agree when Ta Oskar's not going right, and when Munsey's not going right. We saw that for stretches earlier this year, where uh they're striking out when you need to put the ball in play. But the thinking behind having Munsey hitting cleanup is number one, he sees a

lot of pitches. Number two, he is a guy that, uh that kind of breaks up the left right thing. Uh, coming in after will Smith because he got two lefties, then Smith and then usually Munsey and Tioscar Hernandez. But you know, I'm kind of with you, Gregory. When a guy's not going right, Uh, there's nothing wrong with dropping him in the lineup. I'm not saying benching him, but there's nothing wrong with dropping them in the lineup until they get it going again. So I'm not opposed

to that. But there is a greater thinking behind the way they make the

starting lineup. It's not just about one or two guys. It's about how all nine kind of work cohesively to make it more challenging for the opposing manager in the middle of the game to bring in a reliever, especially now with the rule of having to face the minimum of three batters, right, and that and I knew I kind of figured you were going to go there, and that's why I was like, you know, this is this is just an idea, and we're here for ideas, right, all right, thanks

thanks for the input. Thank you, Hey, thank you for your input. Gregory. We're going to take a time out here on Dodger Talk. When we continue, we will check in with Jose Moto. We'll get his thoughts on what he saw tonight from ti Oscar Hernandez and the rest of the Dodgers as they defeat the Ranger in a big way in Game one of this three game series, fifteen to two. The final score on AM five to seventy LA Sports on air at AM five seventy, online at AM five seventy

LA sports dot com, and available by podcast on the iHeartRadio app. This is Dodger Talk with David Bassi, Hataso and a Hugo La Seve Sao Show Old Thunday. Yes, I've got to say, I'm I'm flying titles Tiger Savona. That call was not from nineteen forty six. That was tonight our very own Jose Mota, Colin show Otani, and Freddie Freeman's back to back home runs. As he was on the call tonight with Pepe and Ninguez and Fernando Valenzuela. Four home runs hit in the sixth inning tonight as the Dodgers

defeat the Rangers fifteen to two. Daniels Jewelers is the official sponsor of the Trip around the Diamond. Stop by any Daniel's location and say home run for your free team bracelet and fifty dollars gift card toward any purchase of ninety nine dollars or more. Daniel's Jewelers own the Dream. It's time to go around the Horn with Jose Mota. Wow, very impressive home run call Jose Moda. Well, that started back years ago. But I'll tell you what I

did before I actually went there. I went to the Japanese friends and I say, hey, this acceptable to you. Guys are like absolutely, man, bring it so and homage to them. Saio Nada. That was a big sixth inning. I'm sure it was exciting for you to call four home runs in the same inning. That has not happened since twenty twenty one. And the Dodgers really put a beating down on Grant Anderson tonight. They did.

If you watch it warm up before he went into that inning, You're like, okay, how right head the batter is going to see the ball, and how good or left he's going to sit? But you know he starts with his back pretty much for the hitters, but when the ball comes out of his hand is wide open. The Dodgers did a very good job just making sure he was in the zone because he could be a little wild.

So I applouted the fact that you know, they saw different arms today guys hadn't seen before and did a very nice delb with the at bats and followings that weren't paying attention and passing on information. You saw Show and Gavin Lux, he saw Freddy. You saw Ti Oscar in the very first inning, passing information along even though he hit that ground at second base where he

was kind of jamming. But I think, as you mentioned earlier, it so important Dave to pay attention to those little things and sometimes don't let technology dictate what you do and what you believe in your eyes are your best scouts and paying attention. When a guy comes into a game, he's gonna tell you everything he's gonna throw. Now you pay attention to velocity, how is

it getting there? Spins his glove's gonna tell you the way he wants the ladder to go, and just those are the things make the big difference, and thus why it's some very good players have turned would be great play because the things like that they apply when they go to the batter box. And another part of this is the Dodgers are getting a lot of base runners to second base, and as you know, it's very much fair play if the runner at second base sees something to be able to relay it to the hitter.

I don't know if that's happening, but it wouldn't surprise me if it is with all the base runners at second for the Dodgers, not only tonight, but going back to the last two games in Pittsburgh and the first two in New York. Obviously it's a little different now because you have the audio in your ear and you don't see anybody flashing. But there's one thing that never's gonna stop. And when you pay attention to a catcher and where he's

gonna locate himself. And I actuallyyb a tendency to sometimes to kind of tell you where their body language was going to be a break and ball where you will not fastball away and things like that. But overall, baseball is going to find job trying to just neutralize things. But let me tell there's always somebody smart on the field and knows exactly what to do. And I'm not saying this a case today or right now, but you know, guys that

pay attention usually find the agent. It doesn't matter what generation whatever they played in. But those are the things that really matter at the very end, when you go out there and get an edge and make it pay for it for you. No doubt, catchers are setting up way earlier than ever before, and Rick Monday has pointed that out many times. When a catcher sets up too early, it tips off the hit her. You can feel where the catcher is at, well, we can go. We're gonna have an

entire show about this. Shadows and things like. I mean, there's a lot of things the hitters can see and sometimes got you up to be very careful not to move to early because of something picking somebody picking something up and just saying I know what's going to come right here. So thank you very much for the information. Pre pitch. Jose Moda is joining us after the Dodgers put a drubbing on the Rangers tonight, fifteen to two the final score.

Tonight, the Dodgers hit five home runs, including Will Smith's three run home run, but ta Oscar Hernandez, who is the reigning National League Player of the Week, kept the hot back going tonight. Jose, he was one of those hitters that hit a home run in that sixth inning, you know, for to Oscar Nandez. And we had this conversation last week about him. You know, Tosker got into a Tennessee being, you know, like swing happy and just not being able to follow up plan su Walder pitching

to him. But now he has got better coverage. He's got now the way in which he's landing early and separating the hands, he's really paying off. I mean, he got jammed the first at bat, and I'm like, you know what, that's pretty good at bat. And you know, being late is not a bad thing. And I think to Oscar, because he's so strong he can go through his own so efficiently, is learning more and more about what the league is trying to do. To remember, every

single week you go by, every single year is different. So he's really learning and rethinking about how the league is going about it against him, especially in this lineup. We're is, you know, constructed in any indifferently than he's ever been before, and he's learning and applying quite nicely too. Jose Mota is joining us after the Dodgers defeat the Rangers tonight fifteen to two.

It's not a coincidence. I know. We're talking a lot about the offense, and rightfully so when you score a season high fifteen runs, of course, yeah, but the Dodgers got another really good start from James Paxton at home. Paxton is undefeated at Dodgers Stadium with an ERA of two forty eight, and Jose this year, when one of their starters goes at least six innings, the Dodgers record is twenty seven and seven. It's a lot to

do with the starting pitching well. Packs the number one. I'm glad that it was passed the last start over in Pittsburgh, which I know he felt bad about it pretty much, almost like embarrassed about not the cleanness of games behind him. But he just didn't make twitches. And Dave Roberts very cautious to know what his comments about, not about stuff, not about him getting

ahead. It was another cliche. It was pretty much he may pitches when he needed to, and there's so many games in which you do not have the stuff that you expect to have or the other team just spoils it for you. But you find that one pitch to get you out of an inning or out of a jam, and prolongs you're stay on the mound. And for Paxton, you know, sometimes it has been uglier than it looks about

Dave. If you look at his numbers with mad scoring position all season long, he's been along the top in baseball because he does pitch a lot of traffic on the basis, but he makes a pitch when he needs to do it. Yeah, and recently it hasn't worked out that way, but tonight he was able to do it pretty well, So that was a good thing for the Dodgers. And getting off to a six to one lead after four innings also helps him just throw strikes. Definitely, that takes a load off.

You have a lead, you go out there and sometimes guys put more pressure on themselves will leave. But he's been round the league long enough to know that he's motive better about the fact that his runs on the board. It's on him with his experience what he needs to do and just build his own The walks up in an issue obviously, But going back to your point, but Dodgers going six or leads, that's just an example as to why it's called quality stars and why when he come up a little bit short.

It's not because the possibilities, probabilities, percentages of you winning that game increase when you start to go six plus innings. No secret, no magic. I mean, it's just evident, no doubt. Starting pitching. That's how momentum continues to build, and the Dodgers kept it rolling tonight after their big series in New York. Jose, we'll see you back out here tomorrow night for Game two of this series. I believe in Walker Buehler. Believe it.

Yeah, no doubt, no doubt, Walker Bueller on the mound tomorrow and we will talk to you after the game. We'll see how it works out. Good night, There he goes Jose Mota, part of the Dodgers Spanish radio broadcast with Pepe and Ingas and Fernando Valenzuela. Eight six six nine eighty seven two five seventy is the phone number I forgot to give away Andy mccollough's book. That means we'll give away two tomorrow. It's a great Father's

Day gift. The last of his kind, Clayton Kershaw biography. It's really well done. I read it front to back, solid book by Andy McCullough. I thought it was really fair and certainly gave you some insight and the journey of Kershaw's career. So we'll give away two tomorrow night, and it's a great Father's Day gift. Like I said, eight six six eighty seven, two five seventy is the phone number. Like I mentioned to jose Moda,

Well lost in all this season is the dog starting pitching. Remember last year how many injuries they had to their rotation, and at the end of the season they were counting on a guy named Lance Lynn in a win or go home playoff game. That was the difference between the Dodgers going farther or

going home. Not to mention the offense really did not do them any favors, But by the end of the season, the Dodgers' rotation was depleted, and they made a concerted effort to go out and try to rectify that by signing Yoshi Yamamoto to the richest contract by any major league pitcher and also training for Tyler Glass. Now that has set the rotation up for everybody else to fall into place, whether it's Bobby Miller or Gavin Stone or even James Paxton.

It starts with Glass, Noow and Yama Moto, and they have delivered as advertised. I thought we found out a lot about Yoshi Yama at Yankee Stadium. I mean, that was the biggest stage he's been on in Major League in Major League Baseball so far, playoff like atmosphere, and he rose

to the occasion. So kudos to Yama Moto. I thought we found out the most about Yamamoto and Taoscar Hernandez, the two newest Dodgers are two of the newest Dodgers, and playing in that uniform at Yankee Stadium with these expectations, you found out those guys can handle playoff like atmosphere. But going back to the Dodgers starting pitching that includes Yamamoto, they are twenty seven and seven

this season. The Dodgers are when their starter goes six or more innings, that says it all right there, and the Dodgers' offense has provided James Paxton more nights than not with plenty of run support, and that makes things a lot easier for your number five starters. So the Dodger offense was not going to be held down all season long. There's ebbs and flows to every season.

Yes, they would like the bottom third of their order to start getting on base more consistently, but with Jason Hayward back and Gavin Lux seemingly starting to get his legs underneath him, that's gonna make things a lot better. And you never know, between now and the trade deadline, the Dodgers can add pieces. James Autman is swinging the bat better in Oklahoma City. He

has an ops of over a thousand. There's some buzz around the league that he may be playing his way back to the big leagues to get another opportunity. So all those things are starting to make this Dodger offense and the possibilities of it being even deeper than what it is right now a little bit more

of a reality. And like I said, Jason Hayward coming back is huge for this Dodge lineup because not only does he homer, not only does he drive in runs and play solid outfield, He's he's a guy that makes the right baseball plays and understands the situation. So Jason Hayward is a big part of this offense. To make it longer after the first five or six hitters,

that'll do it for us. On Dodger Talk tonight, the Dodgers tomorrow will have Walker Buehller back on the mound and he is determined to get back in the win column. He'll be going up against another right hander, former Rockies right hander John Gray Morongo Casino. Dodgers on Deck begins at six o'clock with first pitch at seven to ten. Thanks to calling ye back at our Burbank Studios, Thanks to Dwayne McDonald out here at Dodgers Stadium, and thanks

to you for listening. In case you missed any of the show, you can find it on the iHeartRadio app. Coming up next, yeah, Ben Maller.
