Episode description

During the Second World War, over 3.5 million British people were evacuated from their homes and relocated as part of Operation Pied Piper, which was set up to save civilians, particularly children. Reg Hale was one of those evacuated as a child. Reg now lives in Dublin and relives his journey and experience of that time. (First Broadcast 1996)
