The Abbey Theatre first opened its doors to the public in Dublin on the 27th of December 1904. In its early years, the theater was closely associated with the authors of the Irish literary revival, many of whom were involved in its founding. This documentary takes a detailed look at the development of an Irish institution. (First Broadcast 1979)
