¶ Politics and University Funding Cuts
One of the ways that in politics , programs are actually killed is that you don't say we don't want this program anymore . What you do is you just cut the funding .
And so when you have universities that are saying , listen , we are going to engage in diversity recruitment efforts , we don't care what the federal government says , then the federal government can come back and go , you go ahead and do that , but we're going to cut the funding .
If you don't have funding to be able to bring these students in , then what are you recruiting ? Your recruitment efforts are moot unless the universities themselves can actually come up with their own ways of funding these students , let's take a real quick levity break
¶ Running Goals and Fitness Journey

So I want to really quick update everybody on my running updates . Hey yo , alfred , cue this video yo . So I was in Houston so I'm getting coached , so you know everybody who's listening . I'm trying to start running again , basically . So my goal is I want to run a 5K in under 20 minutes Eventually .
I want to get to that point Right , and it's going to take a lot of work . So I have a college friend who is my . I basically hired her as my coach , so shout out to Jen Reed .
So she's been sending me workouts where now I'm combining my workouts with my weightlifting workouts because I want to be able to bench 250 pounds and I want to be able to get that goal of how many pounds you had now . I don't know , I don't know and I don't know if I'm gonna keep benching because my shoulders jacked up .
So this is like the right time to like really incorporate running into my working out that MRI . You know the orthopedic surgeons listening right now . I got this pain like if you're watching on youtube . I got this pain right here , like when I do this and I do this , do I have them here ?
they come with the hammers you got . What with the hammers ? What you got ?
and shit . You know my shoulder just , is that the right way ? Shoulder and shoulder , and this joint ain't jointing , you know , and it's just costing me pain , this joint ain't jumping . But so she made me do so .
She was like , listen , I can write workouts for you , but in order for me to start , like because you can't just run like miles and then you're going to be able to break 20 minutes , like , you got to be able to start doing tempo runs which are like you know you're running fast but you're not like sprinting or you're not like race pace , and you got to be
able to do intervals which are like almost at race pace , and then you stop and then you get like 60 seconds and you go back in Like I can't give you the . She was like I can't give you the times if I don't know how fast . You are Right . So remember , like a couple weeks ago , I tried that two mile run .
I couldn't even finish a mile because I went out too fast . So the video that I'm asking Alfred to put up is that's the video I just did , where I did a time trial in Houston before the wedding . I did a two mile time trial and , boy , dr Renee .
You was huffing and puffing , yo . Anybody listening in that gym would have thought the hell's going on in that gym .

¶ No to Marathons, Yes to Competition
Oh , oh , oh , it was . It sounded like everything except running in there and I'm sharing this with y'all because I love you guys and I know someone's like someone's having a good time in that gym . Renee's jealous .

I can't make him work like this . You know , I think that I think that you know , know , for me , I just wanted to share this because it's gonna take a lot of work . This is gonna take me at least six months to get to this point maybe even longer , and um , but I'm you think it'll take six months , yeah , I think . So I'm super excited about it .
I'm super excited , okay , yeah , I just want people to know like that's a big update for me because , um , you know , like I think a big update for me because , um , you know , like I think a lot of times , like me and you , we don't really share , like personally , like what we're going after , like we talk about these student loan bills and we talk about
locums and all that stuff . So sometimes I like to share like all right , like like I'm really going after this , because
¶ Biking Complaints and Banter
at this point , right now , I don't feel like I'm at my best shape aerobically and running wise , but I do feel like , overall , I'm in the best shape I've been since , even before college , you know , and for me , like this is a goal that's really important to me because , you know , being able to bench 250 pounds which I'm probably gonna have to do something
else , whether I'm squatting or what have you and then being able to run still shows that , like I have , like this overall fitness that I really , you know , I really is important to me . So you know this is something I wanted to share . So okay , so after you , but it's something I want to share .
After . So , but after you hit 5K . Like I know , you're on the 5K mindset right now .

But is there ? I'm asking , it's not happening .
You don't even know what I'm asking I know what you're going to ask me I'm going down . What am I asking ? I'm not going up . I'm not going up .
Why not ?

Listen , like I barely like to go run on it on the road , like I'm a track guy , I'm a sprinter , like I'm a long sprinter . I don't like distance , I like to race , and that's the other thing .
Guys , I'm not like one of those guys who there and be like , oh , I just want to run it's a beautiful day today and just smell . I don't want to deal with any of that stuff . You don't want to smell the roses ? Nah , I want to compete , I want to beat people . That's just . That's what drives me . That's why I need a competition .
Right , but can't you beat people in a 10K Hell ? No , I don't want to do that shit , man . I get bored Like what Six .

I thought you said you wanted to start biking . Hell , no .
Nope , I only want to bike with the kids and the seat on a bike , on a mountain bike , is way different than the seat on the Pelotons and you know those . Nah , I can't do it . What it does to the family drills afterwards , none of them ever told me .
Sometimes , like my coach back in the day would be like hey , get on the bike and do x , y and z and it's just like as soon as I get up it's like I'm talking like three or four octaves really .
