All right . On the eighth day of Christmas , my coach gave to me fitness . I keep saying Christmas is a fitness in Lacey Cosmet . Every time , on the eighth day of fitness , my coach gave to me CrossFit Challenge . All right , ladies and gentlemen , do-hard Things Nation . Welcome to day 8 of 12 .

Today's challenge is about mixing it up with a cross-training activity . It's going to be a difficult one . Today , you get to choose an activity of your choosing that compliments your running and activity . It could be something cycling , swimming , yoga anything that you enjoy and give your running muscles a break and engage a different muscle group .

Here's the challenge 20-minute session of your choosing . You get to pick what that cross-training activity is . While you're doing it , I want you to reflect on how this is going to work for you . You're running or your training , your typical training needs , all right , and then just share your experience with us .

You're just going to take a photo while you're doing it and use the hashtag 12 days of fitness DHT . Tag us in your post . That's it . It's pretty simple . Today , after yesterday , I got some hate mail , but it was so good for so many people to do something outside of your comfort zone Cross-training . So why do we do it Well .

It breaks up the gives you variety in your routines . It reduces the risk of injury . By mixing up your workouts , you reduce the strain on your running specific muscles and joints . It enhances your overall fitness . That way you can build a more balanced body . You don't want to be the person skipping leg day , the chicken legs .

You've got to focus on all areas of your life . That's an analogy there for you , not really an analogy . If you go to the gym , you'll see it . You want to balance out your fitness For those runners out there . It helps you improve areas that running by itself may not address . That's it .

It enables you to practice various forms of exercise to enhance your overall fitness . It reduces your risk of injury . Alternate your workouts so you stay focused on it . Avoid overusing specific muscle groups .

For my runners it's an opportunity to get the heart rate up , but not overuse those running muscles in allowing that part of your body rest and recovery that it needs . Like I said , it just ensures that nothing is neglected . Today . It's simple . It could be high intensity hit training . It could be something low impact like walking or cycling .

Get to the pool . I would encourage you to do something different that you don't typically do . Today is completely up to you . Just 20 minute minimum . If you want to make this harder , then add this onto your normal routine or do a hit exercise as opposed to just scale it to yourself . Or if you want to go longer than 20 minutes , that's up to you .

That's how you scale this one today . That's it . If you need help , if you don't know where to start you don't have a routine . I have an option for those that are looking to work out at home . This is for busy individuals .

I've got in-home fitness solution for you that includes a variety of workouts , support , nutrition plans , easy to follow in-home workouts and accountability . Just DM me and I'll get you squared away on that . See if it's right for you . This is for busy professionals that just don't have a lot of time if they want to get the workout done at home . That's it .

I just want you to think about from a mindset perspective . You know there are days you just don't feel like it . I mean , I have days probably two days a week where I just wake up and I just don't feel like doing the workout , those moments where your motivation seems to have packed its bags and left .

Well , you just simply got to get up and do it anyway . You got to look at those moments as opportunities . They're not obstacles . They're opportunities to build a stronger , more resilient version of yourself by getting up and pushing through . This is how you cultivate grit and discipline . It's those moments that you don't feel like doing it and you do it anyway .

That's how you grow . That's how you grow . That's what teaches you discipline . That's what teaches you about taking strength and putting your inner bitch voice in its place . Right , because you have this little voice inside of you that says oh , you should do this comfortable thing . Maybe you should just take the morning off and take it easy .

Right , it's not , it doesn't . It's not always serving you , it's not always useful to you . So this is the opportunity where you get to put that little voice in its place and do the thing anyway , and just know that it's normal for people that are relatively that are always , that are active , to not want to do things . But you get up and do them anyway .

Remember why you started . Commit to your own self growth and discipline . That's where discipline comes in . Discipline is doing it when you don't want to do it . If you live your life shooting from the hip and just doing things when you feel like it , you're never going to get anything accomplished .

You're going to ultimately have a miserable life by giving in to your comfort zone and that inner bitch voice , this is telling you to take the easy path . All right , so do it anyway . Realize it's part for the course and have a strategy for when those moments come about , like when I have those moments where I just don't feel like doing it .

Accountability I'll call a friend . I will use some supplements , like a pre-workout often helps . Sometimes they're just lacing up and getting started and sometimes you just may not have a good workout . But if you just go through the motions anyway and just do what you can , it's infinitely better than doing nothing . And that's it . And so that's your .

So just just realize that it's par for the course to have days where you just don't feel like it , but you do it anyway . That's it . So all right . So we have 12 . You guys are crushing it . We're getting closer and closer to Christmas . Get your holiday shopping done , get your gifts wrapped and , yeah , enjoy the holidays . Appreciate you guys .

We'll see you guys tomorrow for day nine . Be ready . Anyway , have a great day .
