Episode description

In association with the exhibition All Right on the Night, Anne Makower gave a talk on the Makower family and how they came from Poland to set up a textiles business in London in the mid 19th century. Anne’s grandfather Stanley Makower was a writer/journalist and Anne discussed the correspondence between Stanley and Oscar Wilde who was highly enthusiastic about Stanley’s most celebrated novel, The Mirror of Music. This talk took place as part of a series of events coinciding with the exhibition All Right on the Night celebrating the work of Anne Makower and Christopher Fitz-Simon in theatre, opera, television and radio.
