Episode description

Hi Friends, welcome to another episode of the diversify in path podcast.  This podcast explores how  investing in diversity  can lead to  a high return of investment in pathology and laboratory medicine by learning from the knowledge and experiences of  diverse voices within in our field.  My next guest is Dr. Alcino Gama

Dr. Alcino Gama is a current PGY-1 at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago. He is a former nephrologist in Brazil and decided to redirect his career towards pathology, carrying a special interest for renal pathology. He is an enthusiast of medical education and mentorship, as he believes that showing ourselves as a rewarding specialty is the key to increase interest for the field among medical students. As a gay latino with such an unusual career background, he found an incredibly welcoming and supportive pathology community, both virtually on twitter and in-person at his current training program.
