Episode description

Since 2023, the U.S. Open tennis championships has substituted "America the Beautiful" for "The Star-Spangled Banner" and also featured "Lift Every Voice and Sing" for its men's and women's finals. Supposedly, "America the Beautiful" is more inclusive and less militaristic than the national anthem.  MLB continues to play the national anthem, though "America the Beautiful" has been added in some parks during the 7th Inning Stretch. While the national anthem is not sacred, it has represented a patriotic expression that is good for American society, encouraging unity over diversity and the current polarization. Whether each race or ethnic group should also demand its favorite song be sung alongside or in place of the national anthem is another question.
