Episode description

In this episode of the Disc Golf Answer Man, I’m joined by Eric McCabe and Zach Melton as we celebrate a pretty wild milestone, 10 years of Zach with Dynamic Discs. We kick things off joking about getting older, how fast time flies, and how strange it feels to realize a full decade has passed. Zach reflects on his journey, including the decision to leave Prodigy and what it was really like stepping into a new chapter with DD.We get into college disc golf and how it’s grown, talking about the balance between competition, fun, and not taking yourself too seriously. Eric dives into some product talk, including Polar Party stamps and why the Trespass is still one of the most overlooked distance drivers out there. I also share where I’m at personally with trying to add distance and what I’m working on.From there, the conversation shifts to the bigger picture of pro disc golf. Zach talks about patience, growth, and how the sport is still figuring itself out. We also touch on the Disc Golf Pro Tour and Powerball partnership and talk through both the upside and the concerns around gambling sponsorships. We wrap things up with a lightning round where Zach shares some favorite discs and standout moments, and honestly it just feels like a hang with friends who love disc golf and care about where it’s headed.Send in your questions to DiscGolfAnswerMan.com00:00 Celebrating a Decade with Dynamic Discs02:43 The Evolution of College Disc Golf05:27 Product Highlights: New Discs and Stamps07:49 Insights on Throwing Techniques10:03 The Growth of Professional Disc Golf13:58 Zach Melton's Journey with Dynamic Discs17:26 The Current Landscape of Disc Golf Sponsorships18:53 Introducing Anthony Anselmo: The Highest Rated Lefty22:17 Advice for Aspiring Disc Golfers27:48 Introduction to New Discs30:26 Exciting New Releases and Features32:49 Memorable Moments in Disc Golf39:44 Sponsorship Insights for Young Players50:27 The Impact of External Sponsorships on Disc Golf

Hey everybody, welcome to this episode of the Disc Golf Fans Fan. I'm Bobby, Cool Daddy, Slick Breeze and I with me, Eric McCabe and Mr. Zach Melton. We literally just this morning announced his resigning for Dina with Dynamic Discs and celebrating his 10 year anniversary with Dynamic Discs. Yes. A decade. You're old. Trust me, I know, I know. I know how. Does it feel? How does it feel 10 years?

Dude, it feels like it's flown by and also like like Eric said, holy crap, I'm I'm getting up there, dude, I'm getting old. I know last year when I went to Europe and I had to have my passport, I got my passport in 2016. My beard was red like Eric knows, like red Reds. And then like I'm like going through last year, you know? And I'm like, look. And I'm like, dude, they're not even going to think this is me. This is like 9 years apart. I got all this Gray and crap in there.

I know they're going to, they're going to be like, bro, who? Where is this guy? Well, I remember early on, I remember having conversations with Zach on the phone when he was with Prodigy trying to get him to come over. And I'll never forget we used to go out and hike Camp Alexander here in Emporia, just take the dogs out and hike them.

And I remember like he called me when I was out there one day and I remember just sitting on this rock for like 45 minutes just talking about Zach coming over, what disks I think he would like and, and, and all that. So it's, it's been awesome having you around for 10 years. Excited to have you 10 more. Yeah, man, that's us. I remember those conversations trying to decide if I wanted to make the jump or not, which it was scary for me because like all my friends were with

Prodigy, right? close friends, people I've traveled with. So like it, it was kind of a scary decision. And I actually remember I rode with Paige after I think the Piney woods open up to Emporia. And that's the first time I met Bobby. Like officially remember us having a, a sit down in his office, right? We're having a chat and he's like, where do you see yourself in 10 years? And I'm pretty sure I said on a podcast talking to you, but nice. So I think I, we could go back.

I don't know, I guess there's no video footage, but I'm pretty sure I called it so. The question needs to be asked Zach, where do you see yourself in 10 years? Probably sitting here talking to you guys again, hopefully and perfect maybe, you know, Yeah, I think college disc golf has been Eric, this is a cool thing I think we both have in common and can talk about like I got into that last year. Never would have thought 1 college disc golf would be like a thing, right? Like a real thing.

But like your school scholarships, they back it. They look at it like a sport. The school I'm involved in, you know, ESU Milligan, like they do as well. And so that's really cool to see that happening and kind of I can see myself transitioning from full time player to now like I'm still always going to play disc golf.

But I think the coaching and getting more and more involved in that and that becoming a bigger part of my life like that for sure I think is where I'm headed over the next 10. So let's talk about that for a little bit. What it what is do you are the are the disc golfers, the players are there? Is their mindset a little bit different when they're playing college disc golf or is it just

about like any pro? I think, I think, you know, for my team and his team, we both have kids on the team who are pro caliber players. You know, they have a pro mind. They they were they're serious about it, right. Couple of our guys are serious about it and I love that they

want to get better. They wanted to be be the best they can be, But the majority of them I think are are it's more of a fun type of atmosphere, you know, and I think that's a nice change of pace compared to tour life and pro tour players, because on the tour it's your job. You know, like I, I still enjoy it because I like disc golf, but I understand like the, the stress that comes with it, performance anxiety, all that stuff.

So the college atmosphere is definitely a little bit more fun, which is a nice change of pace. Would you say that that their practice sessions are like more intense because it's a part of their college career? No, no, I don't think intense. It's more fun. Yeah, that's more fun. It's a lot more fun. Yeah, they want to be there, they want to practice, they want to soak up everything we tell them. They want us to be mean to them, Right, Eric, in that tough love,

at least our guys, they will. I mean, I'm yeah, yeah, he's got him running around the lake sometimes. But yeah, they, I don't know, they, they really want to, like they show up, they want to play, they want to, you know, we had him out practicing putting yesterday first, like practice of the season, you know, back in school. And I mean, I think everybody showed up. But they want to be there and they, and it's like a social thing too. They all like you, they all get

along for the most part. And, you know, I think they enjoy being around each other and have a good time with it. That's also very cool. We'll get into a little bit more. We have a bunch of questions that we posted on the Disc Golf Answer Man Facebook group and on some of our social media. We'll get into some of those questions here a little bit. But first let's talk about a little bit of product that we got, Eric. Let's talk about a little bit about those polar stamps you

got. Oh, Polar, Polar Party, I believe is what we've got. We have this guy right here on how well you guys going to be able to see that or not, But it's kind of cool little stamp we had created this year. We had an artist come out and do this for us. We have Lucid Ice Orbit Escapes and Trespasses available with this stamp on it. I think it's pretty cool. I love the LE stuff. A lot of people just like some

really cool stamps, I think. And and these are definitely hitting home with that right there. So and obviously we had to put it on a couple of our staple molds like the Escape and the Trespass are two of our four first molds that we released in November of 2012. So still going strong with these two molds. If you haven't tried out, in my opinion the Trespass is one of the most underrated discs in disc golf period. I will say that till the end of time.

Such a good disc. Well, I'll go over one that I have here. I have, of course, I love the treason. The treason is my one of my distance drivers and we just got them in the Lucid plastic. So we got some nice light blue, dark blue. It has a nice little turn for me, which I really love. So for my arm speed. And in fact, I'm working on a video right now where I'm setting a baseline for my distance. And I'm going to think about Zach. What? I know you haven't seen my throw.

Erica's seen my throw and he's analyzing it. But I want you to think of some basic tips that you're going to give me to help me increase my distance. So, but what I'm doing is I'm using the treason as my disc to set my baseline for January. And then by the middle of the year, I want to see am I gaining better distance by working on my form? And so the treason is that disk I'm using. So I like that white. I don't know why that white looks so clean, but it is.

And then we have the orange nice bright colors was what I'm loving that we're coming out with these nice lucid. Bright colors Good. The white stamps. That did look good. White stamp on that. Yeah, that, yeah. Yes, that's nice. You know, somebody's going to be wiping that and putting their own stuff on there. For sure. So tell me, Zach, what do I need to do? What? What's some basics that you teach your college kids? I mean, I know I ain't no

college kid, but what's a basic? You tell people that like this is what you need to do to get better distance. If I remember correctly, watching you throw Bobby, I'm pretty sure you keep both hands on the desk. Does he does he still keep? Yeah, I think you got to take that left hand off first. But you you got to get the left hand off the desk. It's better. It's definitely better. It's not as defined as it once was. So when he's bringing the disc back, he's definitely bringing it back.

Yeah, Yep, yeah. I think taking that hand off will help because like, honestly, when you throw 2, it's nice to have that arm to kind of help with like the falter and stuff and get that hand off of it, but also allow you to turn a little bit more. But that was, I was a A2 hand. I would have two hands on the disc. And that was one of the first tips I was like told was get that hand off. But I haven't seen you throw in a while, so I'd like to see some video.

We'll come to Kansas, and you will. OK, that's really nice right now. I'll have to send I'll have to send you the video so you can give me some some some pointers as well. I'd love to. I'll probably all right. Let's jump on over to the questions. Let's jump over to the questions. Let's see someone sent in. They want to know from Zach Zeb wants to know what is your favorite disc you've ever thrown and where is it now? Man, what a loser. He knows the answer. This is set up actually.

Actually Eric knows this disc. You remember that old my die Emac Truth? Like one of the first like 3 discs. I got off off DD through it for like 8 years. It got really flippy. I actually gave it to Zeb, one of my buddies. He, he's from here in the Tri-cities here in East Tennessee and he just moved to Nashville and I'll let him take it with him. And, and he, he knows the rule

though. If he ever isn't going to throw it, it comes back to me and I get to keep it because it's like, you know, it's a special, special disc, but it is on loan now. He, he's got it in Nashville. But if he ever sells it, I'll, I'll literally murder him. I'm going to say here, I'll kill him. Do not. Nice, nice. All right. Next question comes from Neil.

Neil wants to know, as 10 years has passed and you have seen things come and go, what has been the most surprising change in professional disc golf in terms of improvements or downgrade? What do you think? What do you think needs to be added to improve it more? I think patience is needed, right? I think the disc golf pro tour is what, 11-12 years old,

something like that. Like it's, it's still an infant, you know, it's still a baby and it's hopefully, you know, with the right people in place, it's going to continue to grow and get better and improve. But in my mind, I still think they're doing good. I think people generally are too. We're in a, I don't know, the society today. It's like they want now, now, now he's like, why don't we have this huge awesome sustained tour that has outside sponsors? It's a joke.

It's like, bro, this thing wasn't around 12 years ago, you know, like this brand, it's new. I think they're doing OK, you know, and I, I cause I've seen it improve right from the beginning. I was there in the beginning when they were like 3 events and you had pro players driving a trailer around setting up course assets, right? There was like 2 employees and like they were both volunteers, right? They, I mean there was no money originally. Like it's kind of awesome to see

where we've gone. And I mean what they're doing well or what I see. I mean there's a now a tour that sustains players. I think you know, like you're seeing guys like when Eric traveled, you had probably the same I don't know I'll probably get the numbers wrong, but probably like the same 30 ish people who traveled and then a lot of it was regional players who filled in your own field.

Is that I don't know you tell me the number, but there weren't a lot there weren't a lot of y'all just doing that. Yeah, OK, that I felt like that was a little high. Now you've got 8070 to 80 people are at every event, plus some regional feelings. So the growth is cool to see people, you know, taking the plunge and going for it, you know, trying to live out their dream.

I mean that's that's awesome. Like, you know, we're doing what Eric and those guys were doing back in the day, but we actually have like a tour to follow, which is, you know, it's pretty cool. I had a thought, yeah, I like that you said patience. That's what I thought I had. I like that you had said patience because it does seem like people that are new to the sport, they don't understand that it hasn't been around a while. And I think that's always kind of been a topic that me and Eric

have talked about on the show. Is that even disc golf itself, when a lot of people compare it to say, golf or football or something like that, as far as what they have, it's like we're we're just little babies. Disc golf is just a little baby when you compare to a sport like golf or football or something like that. So I know it's, yeah, I agree. I know it's hard to be patient because you you're excited about the sport, you love the sport and you want to see it do better

and grow. But I think sometimes a little patience be a little helpful. And Bobby, you know, what really put that in into perspective to me is the PDGA is celebrating its 50th year this year. Think about that. Like most of our most of our founding fathers, with the exception of Ed, you know, and a couple others, but a lot of those guys are still alive. Guys and gals are still alive. So like, you think about any other sport that's been going on for decades and decades, decades.

So, yeah, it's, it's a, it's a little different. So we are definitely still in our infancy for sure. And I think they're doing OK. I really do. I mean, nothing's perfect. I mean, everybody, you can't make everybody happy. I don't care who you are right, like, or what you're doing. There's always going to be people who are upset. But, you know, I think for the most part, they're doing all right and they're trying to do

good. I mean, not everybody always makes the best decisions, but the I think the the once is there to try to make good choices and and keep growing the tour. Yeah, absolutely. All right. Next will come from Joshua and this is kind of a, he wants you to go back to when you first got signed at DD and he says, what was it like when you first got the acceptance e-mail letter that you got on Team Dynamic

Discs? And how much pride is there to be able to still put that logo now that you've been part of the team for so long? I remember being nervous till I meet all you guys to talk to you guys, like trying to decide if I was going to make that jump. And honestly, after I had my visit with you guys and I was like, fine, I knew for I knew 100% I was like, I'm, I'm, I'm going to DD like without a doubt. And it's because of the people and I, they and, and a lot of you guys are still there.

And that's why I love coming to town. I love hanging out. I love getting to see you guys. And that's, that's what sold me. And so I immediately knew I was going and then I was sweating bullets on having to inform Prodigy that I was leaving. That was an awful phone call. I was, I was treading it. But but I did it. And I, you know, no regrets. I've been very happy. And like, I don't know, I think we've had a good successful run.

I think we can keep going. And yeah, I'm very proud to wear the DS on the back, man, Very, very proud. You know, we've had ups and downs last handful of years. We've had some, I guess some public else, some people would say. But at the end of the day, we're still here. We're still making good content, we still have good people working there and we're, we're doing our best and I think we're building it back and I don't know, I'm excited for the future for sure.

Yeah, yeah, it's been a challenging couple years. I've I watched that obviously from the sidelines for a little while, but it's the the the thing that drove us before is is still there to grow the sport of disc golf and to work for a company that we we, we love so well. You nailed. It before you go on, you nailed it with we have people here because we do.

We have people here. We have a lot of people here that are kind of making decisions these days, have been in the sport for many, many years and been a part of DD for many, many years. So I think that's what's being lost. Right now, yeah. I'm curious, Zach, when you think back to when you made this decision to come to Dynamic Discs and I know you still, you're out there, you're the, you're a man of the people, you talk to players that are out there.

Do you feel like the environment, how different is the environment now? Thank you. Back to when you made the choice to change manufacturers. Now I think it, it kind of feels like the wild, Wild West every all season. You know, it's like everybody's probably trying to talk to everybody and looking for, you know, that better payday, that better deal. And I, I don't blame anybody for trying to find, you know, make a

decision that's good for them. But it, it is, it seems like a lot more turnover and willing to turn over back then, you know, like 5 pros would switch and everybody be like, Oh my God, someone move. You know, it, it just wasn't really happening, you know, or it was just quite like, you just didn't hear about as much, right? Like I'll be scrolling nowadays. And there's, there's a million, you know, not a million, but there's a lot of different

podcasts. There's a lot of people who are just your average Joes, but they're covering the sport. Everybody can cover it and keep up with it. And kind of with the the way social media is and everybody you know, posting so publicly, like you kind of know everything that's going on. So it it, there's a lot more access to, you know, and that seems like there's more going on

with that, I think. You know, it's it there is definitely more access, but even silk and and this is something that kind of kind of makes me frustrated sometimes and I'm I'm going to keep it real like I like to do here on the disc golf answer man is that I see all the things that people talk about on different podcasts and it's like especially when I see certain people like certain players, and I'm not I hope I don't get in

trouble. I'm not going to say any names, but I'll see people post about certain players and that they're leaving or doing this or whatever. And they and they're and they stay with their company that they're with or whatever move they make. And they're like, see, they went with the best ones. They went with their, their, their, whatever. And I'm like, yeah, you don't understand. I got a text from that that player or I got a phone call from that player. You know, they're, they're just,

they're humans too. And they're trying to figure out, you know, the best moods for them. And so some, you know, obviously I'm not going to say anything because I'm not going to, you know, talk about stuff like that. But it's just, it's interesting to see people's reactions to it. And it's like, man, if you only knew the back story. What's what's going on? So yeah, maybe we can start to see, maybe we can start that underground podcast we've been talking about forever, Eric.

Yeah, let's do it. So anyway, it's it's definitely interesting. All right, so I I told we have one of our team players, Anthony and Selma yesterday when ratings came out. Was it yesterday? I think yeah, yesterday ratings came out, found out he was the highest rated lefty at 10:39. I believe before that was Austin at 10:38. So I'm going to give him the OK, we're going to have him on the show so you guys can talk to him and ask him some questions. So let me give him the go ahead.

I don't know. I said we are ready. We are. He is here. Oh, there. We go. Take your time. What up Anthony Tom bro? First time. Logging into this thing. Yeah. So first of all, Congrats on the achievement. Fantastic job, dude. That's so, so awesome. So good. Thank. You, I appreciate it. I appreciate it a lot. So, so tell us a little bit like, did you know this was a possibility that this was

coming? Yeah, so and like the the long run of things I hadn't really thought about like overall being like the highest rate of FT in the world or all time until like a few months ago. There was a ratings update where I jumped up to 1038 and I was like, well, holy crap, that's

like tied for all time highest. So I think it was then where I kind of was like, oh man, if I and then at that point I had like one round from a college event that I was going to play that was going to go on and I was like, wow, if I just played well there, it could do it. And of course played bad. So, so drop back down to drop back down to rating points.

So I was at 10:36 kind of kind of let it leave the conscience and had a 8th tier at the beginning of this year in Charlotte. And I played pretty well throughout the tournament. And I, I knew there was a chance on on Tuesday that it could have happened, but honestly, anything was going to. So it was super cool. Good, good surprise I guess to see it have jumped up to a 1039. Yeah. So tell us, tell us how you felt when you look went to the the page and you saw that number.

I mean, obviously like super cool. I mean honestly, like I'm pretty proud of myself for it. I've worked hard to become as like competitive as I am, but at the same time, like it's 1 rating point that's so minuscule and like the grand scheme of things. So like, I know I have to keep working at it, keep continuing to try and get better, but I mean, it's, it's a really cool accomplishment that I'm super happy to to have for now at least. Nice, good job.

I'm looking at the someone posted on Reddit and so I don't. They posted a screenshot of some rankings and look like we had before. This was, like you said, Austin Turner at 10:38. And then before that was Devin Owens in 2020. He was rated at 10:36. And then we got Chris Clemens, former dynamic disc player, at 10:34 in 2022. Then we go down a couple more. We got Zach Melton at 10:25 in 2018. So, Zach, what questions do you have for a fellow lefty?

All right, all right. So we do say fellow lefty, but is it, you know, is it confirmed that you do putt right-handed? It. It may be confirmed. OK. There the bit of controversy in the air. Yeah, that. You know what though? You you throw all lefty 4IN, which is like really hard. You just make the game harder on yourself. So I'm going to give you a pass. I think you're still, I think you're good. I appreciate it, yeah. Definitely. Definitely a weird thing, Yeah. What's you got?

OK, would you rather stay the highest rated lefty in the world you know, for the rest of your career or never lose another pickleball match to your dad? That's good question. That's honestly very tough. That's yeah, because you could give your dad. That's a great question. Yeah, because, you know, he loves football. He does I don't know I mean, why not do both, you know, keep I've been getting better you know like I've beat him. I've beat him a few times recently.

No, but honestly if I had to choose one I might just take beating him every time. I. Love that. That's awesome. That's awesome. So what are your plans for 2026 Anthony, as far as touring and playing? So big like plans that I have right now is I'm in college at UNC Chapel Hill. I'm going to keep grinding out the studies here and with that play some college disc golf events. Got a few regionals coming up in the spring and then eventually college disc golf nationals.

I'm super excited for that. College disc golf is an absolute fantastic time. It's such a such a good community. There's a lot of good camaraderie with with your fellow teammates. So looking forward to that. That's awesome. And then in this, in March, I'm going to, there's a pro tour event that's in Charlotte that I am, I'm most likely going to be playing in. And then I'm going to try and hit a few pro tours in the summer. I'm hoping to get the light stone.

We'll see how that all goes. And then beyond that, similar to last year playing as many of the, the local A tiers in like the North Carolina, Tennessee, South Carolina, that that region, as many of those as I can keep it pushing. Hey, you know registration just opened for GBO which is an A tier. I'd love to see you come out to Emporia, KS this year. Love to have you. I haven't. Been to Emporia in so long I would love to get back out there. We'd love to have you. Absolutely cool.

What advice do you have for somebody who's aspiring to become top rated in the in lefty or righty? What, what, what? What advice do you have for him? Practice pudding. I think that's big. But beyond that, I think it's, I think it's about like finding when you're, when you're playing on the course, finding your, the correct level of like focus and figuring out where your balance is of, of caring enough, but not caring too much so that you push

yourself too hard. I think it's really important to focus on every shot and really dial it in and make sure you know exactly what you're doing. A lot of times you see people kind of a little Willy nilly and not super, super honed in on each and every shot. And that's just the kind of the nature of disc golf is you just have to be, you have to be mentally present for the whole round. You know, the the more you can do that, the better you become,

I mean, in the long run. And real quick, tell us what what, what disc are you for handing the most with your left? All of them. No. What discs? So I mean like my I? What are the goats in the bag? Yeah. Yeah, what are the go TOS? Harps. Harps are huge. I have four of them. They're they're great. And then for for like the flippy stuff, since I am pretty much forehand only when I need something to go to the right for putter, I'm throwing keystones or deputies. Those are both great.

And then midrange, the funky, I throw the tersus, love the tersus, great disc, really glidey. And then love, a felon, love arrive, have to have those. Nice, nice, very cool. All right. You guys got any more questions for Anthony? I don't think so excited to see you out in Charlotte in or Rock Hill technically in April. Looking forward to having, yeah, seeing you guys, both of you guys out there actually, so. Yeah, how's that UNC team looking boss?

How y'all looking? We're looking pretty good. We're looking pretty good. We're, we're, I mean, Milligan doesn't stand a chance. Emporia State though, however they might. Yeah. OK, OK, let's go. That's all jokes all. Jokes. Get them out. Get them out of here. All right. Well, Anthony, thank you so much for joining us. And again, congratulations on the achievement. And it only goes up from here, dude. I know you're going to do a lot more while you're out there, so

appreciate you. Thanks, Bobby. Thanks, Eric. Thanks, Zach. Thanks for having me. Yep. See. Anthony, take it easy. Take it easy. That's awesome. I love that kid. Yeah. He played OK. So let's get back to well. Huh. He, he was playing it cool in the interview, Man, He, he was, he was kind of professional. I liked it. Yeah, we might have to have it more often. Yeah. OK, so let's talk about a couple more discs we have. We're kind of bouncing around, but that's OK.

That's how we do it here on disc golf. Fancy man. So I'm going to talk about the other. We got the stock stamp fusion motive now we had already the fusion motive kind of out in the wild because we gave away the fusion motive to our competitors at junior worlds. So a lot of people got their hands on it already, and I know a lot of people are already loving it. And then when we released it, it was very popular, very, very popular disc, super popular.

So we're excited about the Fusion Motive that comes out in the stock stamp now. So if you'd like that more, that clean look of the stock stamp, we got the Fusion Motive. Of course, we got purple. We got the blue, the orange, the pink and the course that clean white that everybody likes and then the yellow eye again yeah the which color Lakers colors there Lakers yes I I have two motives in my bag. I have a competitor Fusion motive. They let me play in the junior world's last time.

No, I'll. Play nice nice those those that don't know the motive is it is like a beginner friendly disk it they're all lightweight. I think the hot the the most. What 159 I think is the heaviest. These are men 47. Yeah, yeah, really good disk. It's very very user friendly. I love it. I love it for a nice turnover shop for me. I love it. Yeah. So those are out. And then, Eric, you have some fluid. I do have fluid fluid. Some fluid disks. Fluid Heist coming out here

relatively soon. Those of you that aren't familiar with what fluid is, it is our gummy plastic and it is very gummy. Have not had the opportunity to throw these yet, but I do plan to get out tomorrow. It looks like it's going to be sunny and fiddy so I do plan to get out and throw some of these fluid heists. We got the fluid justice as well, which is very exciting. Nice over stable approach. This can never go wrong with an

over stable approach. This and then in my opinion, a disc that I think everybody should bag fluid or lava or Lucid X or whatever is the vandal. Vandal is so underrated. I absolutely love the Vandal I I like the the X versions for kind of straight flights and then the just regular old lucid ones for nice long rollers. But all of these bad boys will be available here soon. I can actually look that up for you if you want, unless you have that information in front of you, Bobby.

I actually did have it up the spreadsheet. Let's see Fluid Vandals and all the others. Looks like ready in the store on February 5th. February. 5th February 5th, so a couple weeks before that in the stores and then online at dd.com or dynamicsjust.com. I like the fluid vandal. Never. It's never been in fluid, right? No, the the vandal, no, none of these except the justice is the only one that it it's been out in fluid plastic, but the heist. I'm excited, I'm excited.

Brand new disc this. This last year, it's a it's a good 112 speed, nice Palmer disc. It's a good disc. Are you bagging it, Zach? Yeah, it's probably my favorite driver I've put in the bag in years for like releasing on either and then having it stand up and then bomb, you know what I'm saying? Yeah, yeah, I do. Kaboom. Let's jump back to the questions. Let's see for I posted on our Facebook story on Dynamic Discs and asked people to give us questions.

So, oh, Speaking of GBO, just like Eric said, the GBO registration is now open. We already have people signing up. And I will give you a bit of a inside secret, maybe not a secret, but there are other events happening in the Emporia area. So if you're kind of thinking on the fence on the line, you know, trying to figure out am I going to stay in Emporia or not? Book your rooms now because these other events are going to cause the hotels to fill up and the Airbnb's to fill up.

So make sure you get those planned out. But you can go to glassboneopen.com to get more information about that. So to that our own Jackie Moe asks you, what is your most memorable GBO moment? #Gbo moment. Wow, what a that is a tough question. It is. You can't. You can't say that one on our channel. Wait, what? Yeah, can I go? He knows. What I'm talking about? Yeah, I'll go with. Numbers please go here a second. Yes, thank you.

But for the the other, you know, the expirated pod for later, we can, we can bust that stuff, Yeah. No. Right, right underground. Our underground pod. Yeah, Underground, Underground. I think it was Worlds in 2016. I'm almost paused because we're there for GBO and for Worlds, but I'm pretty sure this was for Worlds. For whatever reason. We started like a water fight at the beginning of the week and it was like Big Germ and Wiggins and like Kobe.

And then it's like me, Paige, Calvin Madison and it by the end of the week, it ended up everyone just trying to throw water on Germ like the whole time. And like, he would end up being by himself and watching him like lose his mind at 1.0. Yeah. He had Calvin cornered and Calvin panicked and like, opened up his Gatorade bottle and just flung it on his face and like seeing it hit Germ in the face and like rundown and he's like Gatorade, you know, and like lose his mind.

And then we get to the block party, which is always like should be everyone's GBO moment every year, right? The block party is always awesome. But this, this is the this is what led to my moment. This is number 2 Germ who's mad at everyone, right? Eric knows he he holds a grudge with the best of them. He's walking around with a big popcorn bucket, but it's full of water. There's no popcorn in it.

And we can tell he's acting like he's putting his hand in there to eat popcorn, but he's eating nothing. So he's got like, you know, I'm talking about the big yellow buckets with like, you know, the So he's walking around with that and he's trying, he's going to try to throw it on one of us for sure. Everybody knows that he's an idiot. It's not slick. And Kobe, Kobe, guys, shout out Kobe. Actually, he's coaching. He's coaching Anthony at UNC Chapel Hill. He's helping their disc golf

team now. But Kobe goes up to him and and germs like 6-6. Kobe's like 5-8 with like platform she's on probably. Sorry Kobe, you're short, bud. And somehow he kicks. He gets his foot up high enough to kick the bucket. What you like is that germs chest and it just explodes water all over. Germ is at the block party everywhere and he like his eyes get so big and he starts freaking out and we all laugh and then he just starts screaming and chasing us through

the block parties. We're like weaving and and I thought he was going to kill me. Like I, I've, I've never ran so hard in my life, but I mean, that moment was pretty awesome because you know, he's just dripping with water all the way down to like his face. It was awesome. But that was a fun week. That was a very fun week. Yeah, I love it. I love that his he. We can't talk about Zach's favorite GBO moment, but his second favorite GBO moment didn't even happen in GBO, so.

That's. How much fun we have here in Emporia. So yeah, I'm just saying put it on. Emporia Moment. Dude what happens in what happens in Emporia bud? That's right, stays in Emporia. Yep, that's awesome. Cool. Yeah. So get registered Glassman open dot com get registered sooner rather than later so that the the accommodations don't fill up. All right next question comes from Zach play the Rogersville Ice Bowl. Sounds like Board of Demands and that question.

Yeah, that wasn't really a question. I know, how about this one? This is a good 10. Who said that? Gerald Max. Gerald Charles. Gerald. Something like that Gerald. I'm trying to figure out if it's a name or a username or what. We'll call him Gerald. That poor guy just got a new nickname for life, just like. Malachi Geraldo. That's awesome. I got to go. Now. I got to go. Now I'm going. I got to sell them. OK, sorry, sorry Geraldo, whatever this person wants to know.

How many discs does an MA 4 player really need? Like 8 really. What do you think, Eric? But over under, what do you? Think just just just an E Mac truth. That's all they need. That would be. I think honestly, MA four, I think 3 discs and you're going to have a great time. That's all that. That's what MA 4 should be about. It's just going out and having a good time. So you just really need a driver like a fairway driver, a mid and a putter and you're golden. That's it. Three.

That's my answer. You said 8, Zach. Tell us what? Which eight would you say? So I think most people will, you know, rock with a couple putters, hopefully the same putter you got it, you know, case you lose 1 whatever. I would say what Eric said you need and then in a perfect world, a super beat up, flippy version of that or a less stable and that way you you, you know, because, but yeah, you don't need anything more than that.

It's single digits really. Because like at that level you are still like needing to get better. Like, you know, you're still working on your game. You're not, you know, you're not like, well, this is where I want to be like everybody wants to be better than that. So you're working. But like you also most of the time probably don't know all the frisbees in your bag and like really know how to throw them and throw them a different way.

So like most people are rocking 20 or more, but how many of those do you really know, right? So it's like it's got to be single digit. Like Eric said, you're, you're going out to have fun. We want to get better, but it should be enjoyable. You don't need 12 different options on a shot to like be overwhelmed and not know what to throw. The best thing you do is throw very few discs and master those, and then you kind of expand from there. Yeah, which three of those, Eric? What's 3 molds?

A Mac to. MA 4. So yes, yeah. And a EMAC judge. I. Mean you forgot the. Yeah, right. Well, it makes 4. Yeah, I mean. There you go. Winner, Winner. What do we got? No. I think the well. The the emac trespass is going to be a little bit more stable probably for an MA4 player. And it's it's more of a distance driver. I would say fairway driver. I would almost go either Maverick. Get a Melton Maverick in your hand, an Emac Truth in your

hand. And then the putter is all about do you want to bead or do you not want to bead or do you kind of want to bead? And if you do want to bead, you go Judge. If you don't want to bead, you go Warden. And if you kind of maybe want one, you go Emac Judge. There you go. Yeah, there you go. Perfect. That works. All right, let's jump. This is an old question from back before the holidays when we were regularly doing disc golf pants, man. But we're back. We are back.

We're back. This one's from Timothy. And this kind of applies right now actually with this being like kind of the season where we hear about players move and things like that. But Timothy wants to know he has he has a daughter that has 23 career wins with A&B tiers. She is currently number one in the world in her division. This was back in October last year. She's always asking about sponsorship, but it seems like disc manufacturers are mostly interested in Instagram

following. Because of her age as well as personal more convictions, my wife and I will not be creating an Instagram account for her. Smart. Wait, he sent it in twice, but then he added more. Is there anything else we can focus on to make her career more appealing to manufacturers? Or is social media following the be all end all of sponsorships? I. Don't know if it's the be all end all. But for kids? At that age. It. It, it could be right at that

age, right. I would say just keep doing what you're doing out there. I mean, it, it is all about promoting the brands that you want to follow that you want to be represented by. Obviously social media is the easiest guide, I think for a lot of manufacturers to to see your, we'll save value, right, and see if it's worth how many discs are you going to sell at the end of the day?

Now I know I'm not, it's not always about that because we have plenty of juniors on our team as well, you know, across all of the brands. So yeah, I think it's just more about keep doing what you're doing, keep playing these events and keep winning these events, it sounds like, and just represent the brands you want to represent and just keep running events, clinics, all those type things. Is is 100% what at least we look look at as far as a player would go. Yeah, how old is she?

Did he say? No, it didn't say he. Didn't, but it sounds like young right if. If the. Parents are saying no Instagram for you so. Right. I think one possibility they could think about right is like, and and they wouldn't be the first person. There are several juniors who their parents run their social media account for them. That way they get to post them throwing and putting and having fun, but the kids aren't dealing with the negative sides of social media.

And so that you know, if if that is something you want to get her sponsor, I mean, that definitely would help. But like Eric said, keep playing. She has fun and likes it and is playing well. Get her out there. Let her play, promote who you want to promote, reach out to those people. You know, I mean, I think most companies aren't just going to say like, oh, get out of here. You don't have social media like this is we're talking about kids here.

Like this is they're going to encourage them to keep doing what they're doing. Promote the company you like or companies reach out to all of them, you know, but at the end of the day, I mean, they could start a little account and run it for her, you know, and post a little fun videos of her playing disc call and saying this is my favorite disc.

I love, you know, Westside this I this is Swan is my favorite putter of all time, you know, and that's cool, you know, without having to like, which we don't know the age. So I mean, she could be 6, you know, I don't know, but I do understand why, you know, because I've taught I go to junior worlds every year. I know you're there too.

Like, I mean, I like going and watching the juniors and and supporting and you know, a lot of the parents tell me like, dude, there's no way I'd let my daughter run run the the account because got creepy guys message in these 14 year old stuff like that, which is just awful. But you know, parents run them and post the clips for him and you know, goes well. Yeah, Yeah. I would say that like this is the first year that I've ever been involved with like figuring

things out as far as the team. Me and Eric worked on, you know, figuring out who we wanted on the team and stuff like that. And I don't think there was a time where when it was a junior level that I looked to see if that had Instagram. That wasn't the criteria when it at a certain age because I didn't expect a younger person. Now someone that's older and stuff like that. Yes, that was part of like looking at it to see what they got going on.

And then of course, I would go to their PDJ page. How many events did they play? How well did they place? What did they got going on? And yeah, so it's kind of a tricky 1 though, because it does seem like social media is an important part. But like Eric said, it's not the be all end all. It's just part of the equation. It's part of it's part of what we have something to offer you to help you with your disc golf goals. What do you have to offer us to help us with our goals?

And how do we mutually help each other out? How do we have a partnership to help each other out? And social media is part of that equation. All right, let's go back to Instagram. And we had one of our players that sent in quite a bit of questions. She wants to know a lot about You are Autumn Wong. Uh oh, yeah. She said it will be fun. Best roller disc? Vandal. Vandal Nice, Best lefty disc. Best lefty disc Maverick? Come on. How's life? Life's life's turning turning up

right now. I had the flu for like 9 days, probably the sickest I've ever been in my life. Usually I'm never sick for longer than a couple days, so I don't know, it's pretty crazy. Day 6 I finally went to the doctor because like I just had gotten worse. So the fact that I'm able to get on here and talk with you guys without like coughing my head off or like having to like throw up into the trash can, it's pretty awesome. So life is good. Thank you.

Appreciate that. Same. OK, she got we got she got a couple more. So let's let's go through this lightning round. How many JJ Baskets baskets we hitting in 2026? As many as we can. OK, OK, fair answer. Or here, what are the biggest changes you've seen in the last five years? More younger players getting out and playing more like, like at a higher level, right? Yeah. Like guys that Eric and I saw play junior worlds like 10 years ago, eight years ago, nine years

ago. They're playing MPO or teenagers and they're like really good, you know? So that's that's the biggest change. You're seeing a lot younger crowd competing at a higher level. Nice. And then last one, if you had to convert a player to Dynamic Discs, what 3 discs are you giving them? Any love going to get to pick a player? Can I pick the player I'm going to go? Kevin Durant, KD. Yeah, Texas. How far could he throw a hyzer, Baby Boom.

Yep. Former Texas Longhorn, 6 foot 11. Yeah, with those arms. I watched him like 700 foot hyzers, yeah. Yeah, I watched him lose to my Jayhawks. So anyway, so you were. What discs did you say? OK, but if it's not Kevin and it's just a player, let's see. I'd love to see him throw an escape. I don't know what level this player is, but 9 speed is under stable, but it has glide for days. Very slept on mold. I like, I'm loving like I agree with Eric, Trespass is very underrated.

I love the heist as a new disc because it's kind of like a little bit less stable. Trespass. So one of those two for a driver because again, tons of glide. You don't have to like muscle it to make it go far. This isn't like some beefy disc. You got to be able to bomb and throw. And then I might give him a Judge OG. We're going to go with the Judge. Great thrower, great putter. It combos. It does both. Yeah, yeah. Good group. Very nice. Good stuff, good stuff.

All right, well, that's all the time we have guys for the questions. I appreciate that. Did we miss a a disc that we had coming up that I missed one, Eric? The only one that we didn't talk about were these guys. Yes, we have some lucid orbit color moonshine Emac truths coming out with the walleye. Pretty sick. Stamp on that. Less white. Yeah, pretty sick. He there was. What is that? What is that event Mattie O's dad invented? What? What's that tour called, Zach?

Southern Southern Nationals. Is that right? Southern. Yeah. Southern Nationals. Something like that. Yeah. This stamp was definitely inspired by that because there was a bass jumping out of the water. I had to tweet. We tweaked it a little bit and made it a walleye, which is my favorite fish to fish for. But these are the new retooled emac truths as well. They feel great. They're nice and flat, nice stability to them. And we have blue, pink and orange, and they're triple

stamps. They look good. They fly good. They glow pretty good, too. So there you go. Those would be later on coming out later on so, but we'll talk about them again. OK And then another thing I want to touch base on is Veterans for Vets. I just signed up for one that's happening in Tulsa. Of course, Veterans for vet is a our event that we help assist people to tournament directors can't even talk. We assist them, we're giving them some. Do what?

Oh yeah, no, no, no, I'm sorry. It's a program to where you could run an event in your an event in your area and use to raise money for your local veterans organization. And so Amy out of basket case disc golf is doing 1. And so I thought I want to play that one. I want to do some video and talk more about veterans for vet. So, but you can find out more information if you go to dynamicdisc.com. Go all the way to the bottom, look for veterans for vet and see if there's one or no.

You can sign up to run one. If you're looking for one, go to disc golf scene and search Veterans for vet. I saw about 15 of them that are for the next couple months. So they're getting out there, which is amazing. Real quick before we let you go, Zach, let's talk about a topic that's a big topic. See if you got a hot take. What are your thoughts? So here's the way I take it, or I think about it is we we constantly talk about needing money outside of disc golf, right?

We had Barbasaw on board. There's rumors of, I don't think Columbia has officially sponsored anything, but there's like different rumors and different talks of Columbia. We had I think LL Bean, LL Bean, Adidas was connected to Macbeth for a little bit. Was it officially? It was Adidas outdoor. Adidas outdoor. It's the same or not but it's it was Adidas outdoor. So we always say, man, we just need some outside money to kind

of help. And here comes along the disc golf Port Tour and they make a partnership with Powerball. A like a gambling or not, it's a very, in my eyes, very powerful organization. In other words, they've been around for what, 30 some odd years? They're an established organization. So I think it's great. I think it's great that we have somebody that's going to help put some money into the disc golf pro tour so they can continue to improve.

But what do you guys think? Do you think this is a good move or a bad move? I'll let Zach go 'cause he's he's more in tune on the pro tour. So what do you guys, Zach? Yeah, I don't, I don't see, I mean, I don't, I don't see how there there could be a negative side to it really. I mean, everyone's all, like you said, we need outside sponsors. So the fact that they got one in it and to, you know, compared to all the other ones we've had, I think this is pretty huge, tons of money there.

You know, I don't know, like the level of sponsorship and all that stuff. I don't know the details, but I mean, I think it's it's big time. I don't see how it could be negative. I mean, I guess I could see the side to like people who don't agree with like gambling or you know, like, I guess that's you could classify the Powerball under something like that. But I I don't know, I think it's awesome. I think it's good for us. Can't be bad.

Yeah, feels like we could almost anything that gets connected to it, you could have some sort of negatives. Now, I know it's easier because like you said with the gambling and and I know that there's some sort of, you know, there's a level of maybe people might be addicted to, to, you know, the lottery and stuff like that. But you know, overall it's a it's an organization that puts money back into the community. I know that they give to a lot of veterans organizations.

They give a lot to school funding. Now I I know that someone, I'm sure that's listening, will debate the amount that's put in there, you know, how much really goes to it. But the fact is that they do that and they're willing to put money back into the sport. Do you have any other difference of opinion or thoughts on it, Eric? I think it's great. I think it's, I don't see a downside to it at all.

It's not like the Pro Tour is forcing you to go out and buy a Powerball ticket or to gamble on anything, right? It's just if you want to to show support, do it. But I mean, let's be honest, the chances of you winning the Powerball are slim to none. So no, I think it's I think it's nothing but positive. You know, with the what did they had the Powerball Cup is the event that they're going to have. I think is that what they're calling the the finale this year?

Something like that, yeah. Yeah, Yeah, No, I, I, I only see positives for it with the additional money coming into the pros and and events. It'll be interesting to see if it's going to be spread out across the tour and majors or if it's just going to be for that finale slash any event that that is just tied to the disc golf pro tour. Like for instance, we sponsor Idlewild every year.

Will there be some additional funding for that or is that still coming out of the the, the host, the tournament, whatever the title sponsor, is it still their responsibility to raise the additional funds or the club, whatever the case may be, but or is some of that money going to get sprinkled along the entire tour? Or is it just going to be one event, 2 events? Those are the things I'm more interested in. That's interesting.

Yeah, they I see the on here on there, the Disco pro Tour website, the Powerball world standings, the Powerball playoffs and then of course the Powerball Cup. So a little bit of Co branding there for the titles, but that that's a great. That's a great question, Eric. And maybe we can maybe as more information gets put out, we'll find out more about it and kind of can talk talk on it.

So good stuff. All right, Zach, I know you got things to do, probably going to go play some pickleball or something, but we appreciate you being on the show and hopefully I know we have the talks, but hopefully we can make this a regular a regular gig, get you on the show, talk and answering questions and of course giving us your your perspective of being out there playing on tour. So. Yeah, enjoy it boys. I. Appreciate that you're on the team. 10 years, baby. 10 more years. Here we go.

I appreciate you. We ain't. We ain't done yet. We ain't done yet. We ain't done yet, So all right. Anything else? Any parting words, Eric? Nope. That is it for me. All right, all right, guys, make sure you go to discgolfanswerman.com, watch the latest episode, Also send in your questions and we'll see you on the next one.
