It's such a beautiful evening. I watch from the balcony of my cabin as the starts to dip low Casting the forest in a warm When it reaches the treeline, everything will become shadows. I better get moving before it gets too dark. There's a full moon due tonight, which I'm sure is going to look spectacular. I go back inside, fetch my walking shoes and a lantern, just in case. Better safe than sorry. This mountainside cabin is my favorite place to just reset and get my head straight.

I come here for a week or two when I really need to hunker down and get work done or when I just need time and space to think. No other people, no technology, no distractions. The scent of pine and cedar is so relaxing. Ever since I arrived yesterday morning, I've felt more like myself. Not to mention the scenery is really inspiring for my writing. Solitude helps me concentrate, I suppose.

I start along the well enormous trees stretch high into the dark blue sky Instead of bearing north along the mountain's edge like I normally do, I decide to continue on going west. It doesn't look like many people have gone this way. I guess I can see why. It's much darker and the trays are denser. I check my phone for the time. I probably have a good hour until I lose the light completely.

I'll go half a mile or so and turn back. I take note of a moss-covered tree and a post sticking out of the ground as points of reference, just in case I can't find my way back. What's that? Maybe a raccoon or something? Maybe not. That sounds much bigger than a raccoon. Maybe I should double back. I don't fancy my chances with a moose. Or worse, a bear. A sense of dread starts to come over me, and I start to get the strangest feeling that I'm being watched.

Could there be someone else out here? No, no, that's really unlikely. My cabin is the closest structure for miles. Suddenly, I see something quite unexpected. You step out into the clearing, dressed simply in a black t-shirt and skin-tight jeans and walking boots. You look strong and muscular. Like you could probably take any wild animal one might encounter out here. Sorry, didn't mean to startle you. You walk towards...

As you get closer, I take in your dark hair, framing the most spectacular eyes I've ever seen. They're golden. Almost yellow. Oh, that's okay. I'm just not used to seeing anyone else out here. It's a great place to clear your head. You smile at me from under thick, black eyelashes. I'm momentarily dazzled. I hear myself speaking again before I've even thought about what I'm going to say. Are you, uh, finding your way around okay? Oh yeah. I know these words like the back of my hand.

I wish I was as confident as you. I'm renting the cabin a ways back. We're pretty much in the middle of nowhere here, huh? Pretty much. You look up at me with a half smile. You don't seem to be worried about being lost at all. If anything, you look excited. I wonder how long you've been out here. Walking, or whatever it is you were doing.

Well, if you'd like, you're welcome to walk with me. It's getting dark, and I'd hate to leave you on your own. The main road is right beside my cabin. You take a step closer to me. Are you... smelling me? You're probably right. What kind of beasts are out here? Having you close to me makes every hair on my body stand on end. There's something about you. I'm intrigued, but something isn't right. I ignore the small voice in my head raising red flags. You're just another traveler.

We make it back to the cabin just before the sky goes completely dark. The entire walk I've been pushing away thoughts about you as our shoulders brush or your hand presses against mine. I know we've only just met, but I can't shake the feeling of intense chemistry between us. And I think you feel it too. Hey, so I really wouldn't feel comfortable with you walking alone at night out here. I could drive you to your car or... You got anything to drink?

My mouth hangs open slightly as you make your way inside my cabin, leaving me behind. Uh, uh, yeah, uh, whiskey, I think. Do you, um, you want some? Yeah, that'd be great. Damn, I'm starving too. I could go for a huge steak right now. You make your way to the balcony as I fumble to find the half-empty bottle of whiskey I saw in one of the cabinets. You are something else. You're looking into the sky when I walk out onto the balcony and hand you the bottle. It's beautiful, isn't it?

I glance up at the sky and see that it's a full moon tonight. When I finally look away, I find you staring at me from under those long, thick eyelashes. Something is changing. You seem intense, electrified, sexually charged even. And the sexier you become, the more in danger I feel. You advance towards me, your eyes locked on mine. You curl your lip and bear a flash of perfect white teeth. You look hungry.

You place your hands on my chest and yank me forward by my shirt. Our lips meet and suddenly my senses are reeling. Oh god, my whole body is on fire. My heart is racing, and you're like an animal. So hungry and wild, and I have to have you. You pull away from our kiss and bring your nose to the base of my throat. Inhaling deeply, you throw your head back and I watch as your eyes roll back like you're drunk on the scent of me.

And when your eyes open again, they're yellow. Like the eyes of a wolf. My stomach is in knots. What are you? Thanks for listening. this audio desires original story.
