*“Your desire will be for your husband and He will rule over you” Gen. 3:16 This could possibly lead us to make our husbands an idol. It is important to always remember that the Lord is our first husband, our first love. *The Lord uses our husband as a vessel of love, His love for us. *We can not expect what the Lord gives to be fully given from our spouse. *The Lord leaves room so He can be the full portion. *Paul says be submissive to your husband, Paul is not saying being submissive to all men. We are called to submit to our husband and to honor and respect our brothers. *Win your husband with your behavior so he can see Christ! *Give God the room to work, we often put ourselves in God's way! *“Do what is right and don’t give way to fear” true submission is not sulking surrender to authority- it’s active embrace of God’s will- demonstrating trust. *Paul set a standard by telling men to honor their wives. He set the Godly standard that was unheard of in that time. *“Treat them with respect as the weaker partner”-Paul (1 Peter 3:7) Paul is speaking in physical context. Men need to honor and appreciate the feminine nature of a woman and not demand more than what is appropriate and kind. *When we read what Paul was speaking we need to keep in mind the context it is spoken in. *Abraham and Sarah Abraham put his wife in danger to save his own life, and Sarah went along with it. Though we do not understand the whys and the reasoning..we see that Sarah walked in faith and trust in the Lord first. The Lord defended Sarah and protected her even when Abraham did not. Not only did God defend Sarah, He then showed grace to Abraham. *Abigail A woman married to a horrible man, Nabal; saw her husband had caused tremendous turmoil with David. She chose to disobey her husband but to obey the Lord and bring peace upon her household between David and Nabal. She honored both men and settled what could have caused destruction. *It is important to “find the scripture and guidance to do the right thing well, while submitting and honoring my husband well. And at the same time, feel completely valued and celebrated as the woman God created me to be” -Christine
