I've made it for you before and you've said it's okay. That's good. Yeah. Okay. Anyway, last episode. It was a few days before Halloween. When Sam and Dean went to investigate two mysterious deaths in a small town. The brothers found hex bags and figured out a witch was sacrificing people in order to summon a dangerous demon named not Sam hain, solid sawin cast CL appeared in town and told them that the freeing of this demon was one of the 66 seals that would lead to Lucifer being
sprung from his cage. And your real was there and he was just Mr. Sassy. He wanted to smite the whole fucking town. Just be done with it. But they were like, no, no, no, that's not why we're really here. We're here for Dean to call the shots and us do what Dean says. That's never really explained. But that's the gig. Yep. So they do what Dean says. And then you realize like, oh, yeah, by the way, Sam. Dean remembers hell peace out. And that's the end of the episode.
Well, this episode is called wishful thinking. And it is the eighth episode of season four and aired on November 6 2008. And it starts out we see a lady in the shower, showering,
rinsing her hair repeatedly. Yes. Even though there's no shampoo. I didn't see anything. But she had to really rinse it real good. Well, maybe it was conditioner. That's another Yes. Yeah.
Well, yeah. Probably because she was it was toward the end of her shower. Yeah,
yeah. I'm being too harsh again.
As she's in there, we see like, there's this kid shows up through the glass. That's just like creepy watching her. And she doesn't see it. She gets out. She's in it's like a gym, I
think. Yeah, there were. There are multiple things. Yeah, we
see these like little wet footprints stepping toward her. And she's takes the towel off of her head and throws it awkwardly behind her. And it lands on some, like the shape of a person. Somebody's like, like an invisible person standing there. And she freaks out and screams and the shape says, Hello, Mrs. Armstrong. I was like, is this like her? Is she a teacher? And this is one of her kids
always is like cracking like,
yeah. Anyway, then we should go to the boys at a restaurant sitting down. Dean is on his second shot of what we assume is whiskey as well as drinking his beer.
And there were at least two more shots sitting there. Yeah, it was like at least a row before.
Yeah. Sam is kind of hounding Dean about what he remembers from hell. Like, why would Uriel say that to me if you know you don't actually remember anything. And Dean's tried to be adamant that No, no, I don't remember anything. I don't remember thing.
He's just a dick. I don't know what he's talking about, like, move on. Yeah, let it go. And so
we tried to change some subject. And it's like, what do we got? What are we what's our next job? And Sam says things have been kind of slow. He hasn't really heard of anything going on. But there is one thing he found. That was interesting that in Washington concrete, Washington, women are being claiming to be haunted at a women's health center I think they said was like, I guess one of them said that the ghost threw her down the stairs. As soon as Sam mentions women and
showers. Dean practically chokes on his beer. And is like what is he's like, women showers. We got to save these people. And he's like paying the tab like he's ready to go.
There waiter was a little annoying.
Yeah, you you didn't like that. No,
it was like less than five minutes and he popped over like twice to be like, Can I get you anything else can I get you in? Yeltsin either he was trying to get them the hell out of there because he needed their table or he was just really over enthusiastic about dessert.
Yeah, he was he was a bit much yeah. After this we see the boys pull up to a place that is called Lucky Chin's Dean drops Sam off to go in and Dean is gonna go to of course talk to the lady from the health center that has been haunted. No, no, he goes to the health center. But yeah, Sam is interviewing. That's right. And Sam is posted posing as a writer. He's writing a book and the books name is going to be called supernatural.
He says, as he's talking with this Candice lady who we saw from the beginning, He glances over and there's a couple just making out at the table like a like too much. Come on, get a room, and Candice ends up telling Sam that she was not pushed, she fell down the stairs. But the weirdest thing was that this ghost helped her up after falling, and then knew her name.
She also said, and he kept saying, Please don't tell my Mom, please don't tell my mom.
Once Sam is done with that interview, he meets Dean back at her house and he's sitting on the front porch, and he confirmed that he EMF the whole house, nothing there couldn't find anything. But as they're leaving, they hear a man yelling to a cop about being attacked by Bigfoot.
I wish we could have gotten more of that guy's story because he had a big gash. Yeah, yeah. Test. Yeah. Like we didn't really get to hear exactly what happened to him. Yeah. And I'm curious what happened? Because we end up finding out. It wasn't actually a Bigfoot. Like, yeah, wheelers. And so what did it do to him?
Yeah. And what did he exactly see
that he made that made him think it was big, right. Like, clearly he saw the footprints. So did he just run into something? And that's what the gash was from like, what maybe I want to hear his whole story. What happened?
I don't know. After the boys are done chatting with him, they go walking toward the area that the guy said he was at, and they do come upon these very big footprints. It's like, it's definitely a paw print of some sort, but it's huge. Yeah. They're not like it's not a paw. I mean, it looks like a Pol. Pot. Yeah.
But it looks like a cartoonish paw. Yes. You know, and they were talking as they were walking upon those things about how every Hunter knows that Bigfoot is a hoax. Yeah. And then there's this massive paw print and the girl, Gert liquor and the turret
while they follow the tracks and it leads to this liquor store. They go in, there's some empty broken bottles on the floor. The store is empty. And then the whole section where there are porno magazines, there's like one left, like clear the place out. So they they're kind of stumped. They go and sit out front and they're just like, rack. It's like you can tell they're like racking their brains like what, what is
this. And as they're sitting there, this little girl on a bicycle run by and she's got a big basket on the back and a busty Asian beauties magazine falls out right in front of them. So they kind of follow her and she goes to the liquor store and delivers this box of all the porno mags and some bottles of booze. And then a little note that says I'm sorry. And they follow her back to her house. And she, you know, knock knock on the door. She comes. She's the one that answers the door.
She's by herself. They say that they're I think the FBI or something at first. And she's like, Oh, is he in trouble? And they're like, no. What are you talking about? And she's like, she tells them that it's her teddy bear, and that he's been he's been acting strange lately or angry. I think.
I think she said he was sick because that's right. Their response was that Well, it turns out, we're also teddy bear doctor this right?
So she takes them upstairs. opens her daughter room. And sure enough, there's a gigantic teddy bear sitting there watching the news.
And drinking a bottle of wine. Yeah, yeah,
it's I like it was just so out of place. I feel like that it was so odd. Their faces are hilarious. They're weirded out confused.
The teddy bear was just like, can you believe this? Because it's watching the news. And of course, it's not good news. So the teddy bear is just like depressed about the news. And then he looks at the little girl and goes, Why am I here? And she's like for tea parties. A little bears like for tea parties. Like what the fuck is my life? Like it's just having an existential crisis. And Sam and Dean are just like, Oh, okay.
So they asked her they step out of the room with her. And she says, you know that he's just been saying weird stuff and he smells like the bus all of a sudden now. They asked her how are like what happened? How to You get the teddy bear. And she says that she wished for it at the wishing well, kind of off to the side. They're like, Okay, what did we do we shoot this teddy bear and burn it or like Sam's like both. What do we do? And the little girl they ask
where her parents are. And she tells them that she guesses they're in Bali because her mom wished at the well that they were in Bali. Yeah. So that's why she's home alone. So they decided to tell her that the teddy bear has a lollipop disease. And they asked her she there's anybody where she can say she goes to stay with some lady down the street. They go back to the Chinese restaurant to investigate this wishing well and it's back at Lucky what was
it? Like he Chin's I guess he's either the owner or just a waiter. But they tell him. They're from the health department for they they have rat violations. They're shutting them down. They're the weird couple. Let's make it out all the time. Is there again? Yeah. And as they're standing there, Dean kind of asked Sam what he
would wish for. I think Dean assumed like that they just could just go back to their old lives and Sam's like, No, It's too, too far gone too late for us to go back to our old lives. I'm not that guy anymore. And I was like, I know.
Yeah, you were you were like we know sail.
And then he divulged is that he was he would wish for littlest head on a plate. bloodied? Yeah, I still really hold on to that. Please, boys have some issues.
It's like you have your brother back. Why? Why are you still trying to go after a little bit so hard? And she's not doesn't seem like she's coming after y'all anymore. No, she's trying to start the apocalypse, of course. So I guess maybe that's what he's hung up on? Yeah. Okay. I don't know. I think he's just really vengeful. Yeah. hasn't let it go yet. He's been chasing this for four months. And he doesn't want to let it go. Yeah, that's
true. Well, they look in the well they emptied it right from the water. Yes. And they see that there is like this really rare looking coin down at the bottom. Dean tries to pick it up. It's not moving. Not even budging.
We forgot something important. So sorry. Before they drained the well. Dean threw a coin in and wished for something like when he was talking to Sam about what would you wish for? Oh, Dean wish for a sandwich. Oh, I forgot about that. Yeah. And he ate the sandwich. After they were at the restaurant. They're back at the hotel. And Sam finds Dean and he's like vomiting. And so they find out through that whole thing that the wishes turn bad eventually.
So Sam makes a little he like draw like,
what does that call? It's like a rubbing. Is it a rubbing? Yeah, something
like that. Or I want to rubbish. Oh, okay. He does a little rubbing with a pencil over the coin so that Sam has or Dean has a piece of paper where he can go investigate and look into it. Dean's like, well, what? What are you doing? And Sam just says something just occurred to me. And he takes off no explanation. Nothing. He shows up at the health center. There's another lady in the bathroom and her towel. He realized that it was some kid that had wished to be invisible.
So she could just go sneak in and watch naked ladies like a pervert.
Sam had to go and shame him real quickly. Oh, yeah. It was like you research this coin. I gotta go shame this kid for being a total p right or not P perv. Then he goes to the hotel and Feinstein vomiting and that's when they get really on the whole thing that this is actually a curse. And Dean let Sam know that he researched the coin and he did find out that it was Tiamat Babylonian serpent deity of primordial chaos.
This coin is like so cursed that it's what wiped out towns before and they realized that they have to find the first wisher whoever threw the coin in and made the first wish. We also flashed back to the teddy bear who is now in the room with the news still on and have a gigantic shotgun, shoots himself. And all that stuffing in the inside of him goes out. But he does not die. And he's not. He's not happy.
We still hear him crying. Yeah.
And then we have the you know, at the motel asleep clearly having a nightmare. Sam kind of wakes him up and asks if he slept well, as Deena is grabbing a bottle next to the bed to drink some sort of alcohol.
Passive aggressive much, Sam? Yeah, I mean, goodness.
Seems like I'm with you like 24/7 I know something's going on the nightmares the drinking like you. I know. Yeah. And he just blows them off. He grabs a newspaper, and they're trying to trying to strategize how to find that first wisher. But then Dean says, Well, it's pretty easy when it's in the paper. And there's a couple's engagement announcement that was pretty much with the timeline of when this probably started,
and it's the same cup We've seen with the overly enthusiastic PDA throughout the entire episode. Yes.
Then next up we're at West is house he's the West and hope are the couple. And he's sitting there watching TV and sweet hope. She has made like a whole chicken. And like it's it's like a gigantic serving plate that you would like serve at Thanksgiving. She's bringing over to West. She's just felt like he might have needed a snack. Yeah, so that's what she made for a snack, right? I can't imagine what she's making for meals for the man. She's just telling, telling him how much
she loves him. She loves him more than anything. And he you could tell he's a little bothered by her. I guess. obsessiveness? Yeah. And he's like, he's telling her he like wants her to do things that make her happy like she used to before? And she's like, Oh, no, no, no, no, no. And she kind of flips out. And she's like, she's like, don't be upset with me. I'll just die. I'll just die.
So it becomes pretty clear. Like something's off here.
Yeah, yes, she is way too into. Yeah. And there's not she's about to go downtown on him. Just because she's like, Oh, don't be upset with me. And she's like, I'll fix that. Or I'll make this better. Be here, the unzip of the pan. But then the doorbell rings. So she goes and gets it. Of course, it's Sam and Dean walking in. And she tells us like how sweet it is that he had the florist for the wedding come over so that they could strategize and plan. So that's a new one for them. Yeah.
The guys approached Wes, and he starts to stand up, but then he can and you thought it was because he didn't realize how tall they were.
Yeah, I thought it was because he suddenly got intimidated as he started to stay on. But I think that your theory made much more sense.
I thought it was because he was still very excited about hopes, fixing fixing it. Yeah. But anyway, you see behind him there in like a frame. There's some old coins. And he mentioned that they it's a collection from his grandfather. Hope comes out with the wedding plans. And they're like, you know, How'd you two meet? And she's like, you know, it's just a strange thing. We both grew up here. And then one day last month, I saw him and he was glowing. Yeah. And then she kisses him way too
fucking much. Like I was like, Okay,
why don't we stop in here? Sam and Dean, clearly we're thinking the same thing like I Yeah, okay. Okay.
And so they they kind of like push him a little more. And he he confesses that his grandfather found the coin in North Africa during World War Two. He specifically told him that nobody should ever use it.
But he did. He was like that my grandpa died. And I just figured what the hell yeah. Let's give those coordinates away.
Sam tells him You know, this something, something's gonna happen like these, these wishes are turning that something bad is gonna happen. And he's like, like us, like kind of threatening. So it was funny. They've got less than the back of the Impala. He's complaining. You know, he's just like, Oh, come on. Like, why can't we have what we want and all this and they're both trying to convince them like this. This is life. That's how life is you can't have everything you want.
Everybody's miserable bastards. Because they can't get what they want. That's how it's supposed to be. As they're driving, they hit something. And they I mean, they don't see whatever it is they hit but they clearly hit something. But then we find out it's that little pervert boy that they swiped him I think as he was walking across the street,
I don't know the car like went bounced like it went over a speed hump. I think they might a roll rover.
They're headed to Lucky chins. But they think that's when they see the kid. Right? The kids running. Yes. So Wes
is in the backseat. And it's like okay, so you guys have told me that the town is like in chaos because of all these wishes. What the fuck are you talking about? I don't see anything. And then they see a little kid knock over an SUV because his bullies are inside. Yeah, we saw him wish at the well earlier saw the police chasing him earlier and he's getting his revenge dammit. Oh, yeah. And that's when Wes is finally like, oh shit. Yeah, that's not normal.
Not at all. So Dan gets out to deal with the kid and tells Sam and west to head to the restaurant date and tries to reason with the kid. And the kid isn't having it punches Dean so hard. He like flies through the air and lands in some trash cans. Then it flashes to Sam and Wes there outside of the restaurant. I can't remember whether we're talking about but it doesn't matter because Sam got hit by lightning.
Yeah. And I think Wes was still trying to make his case to keep his wish. Oh, yeah. And Sam was still arguing with him on that. And then yeah, so you've got hit with lightning like from this tiny little cloud this little solo cloud up in the sky by itself, right. It was the loneliest little storm cloud ever.
He was literally knocked out of his shoes. And then we go in southwest goes inside and we find hope at the well. And she obviously wished for Sam to be killed or hit by. Just get him out of the way, I guess, because she just loves sweats loves him more than anything more than anything. She's creepy. Then it flashes back to Dean. And he tries to punch the kid himself. But he pretty much like damages his hand in the process because the kid is like, super, super. He's unbreakable superstrings.
Yeah. But it was really cute. He was like, Listen, kid, let's I can fix this for you. Oh, no, no, no, we're not there yet. Are we?
First, Wes finally realizes that this is fucked. And he says, Okay, I'm going to undo it. And he reaches in and pulls out the coin that was causing all the problems.
And then we see Sam come to we see the kid the kid. Yeah. And then Dean with the kid and the kid realizes, you know, he's lost his strength. And Diems like, okay, here, let me let me help you out here. Even though you don't have your strength or anything anymore, and he goes over as the kids are rolling out of the SUV. He's like, acting like he's like backed up against Carter. He's like, no, no, no. Oh, don't please, please, please. And like acting like
kids still has a strength. Yeah, so that the bullies will leave him alone. He's like, I just like don't mess with this kid. And then he leaves which was sweet. And then we see hope in West again. And she looks very confused. And looks at West and asks if she knows him. And then
she just leaves. Yeah, she doesn't wait for him to answer anything. She just walks off. Like she doesn't care
if she knows what Myrna leaves like what passes by Sam looks at him confused. Wes walks out. Give Sam the coin. And so everything's back back in order town's back to normal. We see the guys are sitting on a bench. I'm like along this little boardwalk thing. And Audrey is walking with clearly her parents are behind her. They're very tan from their volleyball vacation. And she has her little teddy bear in her hand. And the back
of it. You could see the stuffing had come out and there's like a red piece of tape like, together. Yeah. Oh my god. Dean, tell Sam. He's like, listen, like I'm not gonna lie to you. I don't want to do that. But I do remember and I'm never going to talk about I don't want to talk about it. But Sam kind of presses him. Dean's adamant. He says no that like there aren't even words for what he saw there. And he's like, there's no forgetting. There's no making it better. Because
it's in my head. It's just in there. That's what, there's nothing I could do. I'm not gonna talk about it. Yeah. And he tells them that, you know, even if he wasn't tell him he wouldn't understand. Like, yeah, so what's the point?
He's like, I'm not gonna lie to you anymore. But I'm not going to talk about it either. Right? That's kind of he's just kind of like in the story. Yeah. And that's how it ends. Yeah. And Sam did say he melted down the coin. So Oh, yeah, I forgot about that. But it's solidified is all tied up. You know, coin is not going to come back. But I wouldn't say the story is fully tied up because now we know. I mean, at least he's not lying anymore. I will. I will say that's good.
Well, I mean, I guess I guess it's good that Sam could be a little understanding if he's like struggling at times, I guess, you know, know that he knows.
Yeah. Well, this was the first and only episode penned by both Ben Edlund and Lou bolo. I think I'm saying that right. And it was directed by Robert singer. There wasn't any gore. I mean, maybe if they want to count the teddy bear stuffing I guess that could be just it was deserved, but you did not like it. You did not like anything with that teddy bear. No. So was there anything you adored about this episode? Well, Audrey was
really cute with her. She was Yeah, I think Audrey Audrey and the little boy I think were the cutest things.
I agree. And if you let yourself think about stuff too long, it gets to where this episodes disturbing. Not entertaining. Yeah, like the whole thing with hope against her will. I the whole thing with the creepy pervert, teenager Nia watching this like it's funny if you just don't think about it. You know, the second you really start to think about what's happening. It's just goofy. Yeah. Okay. Yeah. So yeah, I would say Audrey, the little girl actress did really well.
She was she was really cute. That was really cute. So yeah, I enjoyed this episode, but I don't want to think about it too much. Does that make sense? For sure.

It's enjoyable. Yeah. So for war, I did look into Tia Matt, and it is a Mesopotamian religion. Tiamat is the primordial goddess of the sea and mated with Abzu the God of groundwater in order to produce younger guys adds, she is the symbol of chaos, chaos of primordial creation. So everything they said in the episode is true. I'm not going to go too much further into it. I was running into a bunch of articles from like d&d, like Dungeons and Dragons and robots
and stuff. And all of the articles that weren't from d&d were really long and complicated. So we're just gonna stick with like, basically what they said in the episode is what you need to know like, goddess of chaos serpent Mesopotamia. So what I decided to look into instead was actually wishing wells. No, multiple ancient cultures expand on different
beliefs present their views. In regards to the wishing wells from predated history, it is challenging to identify one singular event that gave rise to the origin of wishing wells. In ancient European cultures, people viewed underground springs as unique and valued the sacred water as the pious gift to humankind from the heavenly to hail the deities for their generous gift. People often dropped small appreciative tokens in to groundwater springs. As time passed, the use
of coins came into play. So it's like, they would finally find clean water and they were like, oh my god, this is wonderful and then throw shit into it. Amongst the German tribes of Europe, a belief existed around the wishing wells, people believed that spirits had created the clean pure water, and hence the water source was the abode of
the deities. In their saddest moments, people wished in the hope that the spirits might pity them and fulfill their longings to further abuse the spirits people drop small tokens like coins and the well so same thing you know, in Germany, they like clean water. Oh my god, we're so thankful it was structured in it. Another source highlighting the existence of wishing wells comes from the early Celtic, Celtic traditions. Often the patrons toss coins into a well
in harrow Burg. I'm probably mispronouncing that, and the Northumberland County of England to appease the Celtic goddess Coven Tina, the well remained attributed in her name. She is the Rome Romano British Goddess of Springs and wells and is associated with childbirth,
healing and abundance. The locals also built a small temple for the goddess around the spring water source during archaeological excavation that an earth Coven, Tina's Well, archaeologists also uncovered numerous coins, glass pieces, pottery, buttons, threads, and other items dating back to as early as the first century. Beyond the folklore connections, some modern scientists believe that leaving coins adds to
water's unique properties. Fresh water was not always fit for drinking during early times, as it remained often overloaded with bacteria that had the probability of causing infections. And the addition of silver and copper coins in the wells reversed the effect by killing the germs and ensured the waters safety. I highly doubt people were thinking they were doing that, ya know, maybe it was just an added benefit.
These ancient traditions continue to exist today, although their real meaning might have lost its essence. Perhaps wish creation is a form of prayer or votive offerings that requests divine intervention to gain favor.
