Berly

Welcome to denim wrapped nightmares tipsy exchange Podcast where we explore the supernatural series episode by episode.

LA

over drinks, we'll discuss the lore of gore and what we adore about the Winchesters and their adventures.

Berly

I'm burly, and I'm a new fan of the series.

LA

I'm LA, and I'm here along for the ride. Now let's get tipsy.

Berly

Hello.

LA

Hello Burley.

Berly

Last episode was Folsom Prison Blues. After hearing about a ghost that had been killing inmates one by one and guards because we saw a guard get killed. Sam and Dean went to help one of their dad's old Marine Corps friends investigate and figure out the culprit behind the killings. They took care of it took care of the case. However, during all of this FBI agent, Victor Henrickson made an appearance again, reminding us that he is hot on the Winchesters tail, and I imagined that we'll see him

again. Oh, yeah,

LA

so he's not just gonna say he's got a sassy pants on again.

Berly

He's got a sassy obsessive pants on Yeah, yeah. Seems a little too invested if you ask

LA

really it. I mean, in a way, I'm like, like we always say I'm like, I get it, but also in another way. I'm like, I don't get it. Like you need to calm down a little bit. Yeah, chill, bro.

Berly

It's okay. Hinrichsen let me think bro in the last two episodes, happens What up bro? And on. On a related note, we've got Hendrickson coming back. We haven't seen him since knightstalker. Since since introduction in knightstalker. And I'm just sitting here going What about all the demon children? Has that even been brought up? Simon?

LA

Like you said these have all been really Deen heavy episodes. Last like

Berly

you said before you said well, you Yeah, agreed. Yeah, no, I want to get back to Sammy and his his visions. Yeah, he moved that dresser with his mind that one time and nightmare. He hasn't moved anything with his brain.

LA

You know what I bet they did some focus groups and realize people were like sweet on day and more. So they're probably doing like more routine heavy. You think? Only because I know in that I know how that works. And that it just I don't know though.

Berly

Well, I'm just what's what's what the visions what's with the dim and children? What's with yellow eyes? What happened to they're just taking a break. This is the 18th note 20th We watched the 20th episode today. There's only two episodes left.

LA

Maybe they get back to it. And these next two?

Berly

I would think so I

LA

gotta wrap some shit up.

Berly

So yeah, that was our last episode. Folsom Prison Blues. It was a good one. It was.

LA

I mean, I hate to say it, but all these like deemed driven ones have been

Berly

really good. But this happened last season to where the first it seems like the first half of the season was good. Don't get me wrong. It was good. But when we were thinking about the episodes that got us excited and ready to see the next those mainly happened in the second half of the season.

Yeah. And I feel like that happened again, this time that the beginning part of the season, you know, they're addressing John Winchesters death and the grieving of that and the team and children thing and that this is something else that Yeah, okay. This is what John was talking about on his deathbed. And, like, the third is like, Okay, we have to hit these bases. And then they give us fun episodes like Hell House and like all these other things that happened to the second half

of the season. And I feel like that happened again this time. Yeah, I see that. Of course, you're one of your favorite episodes was faith. And that was in the first half of the season. Everybody loves faith, because you got to have

LA

liked it. I mean, it's not one of like my favorite favorites, but I did like it

Berly

was one of your favorites on our season finale. Was it? Yeah. Changes you know. I think your favorites were scarecrow faith. And there was another one I don't remember.

LA

Well, we shall see which ones they are for this season.

Berly

I know. We're getting close. Excited. Excited. Yeah. So talk to us about today's episode. All right. Well, this

LA

one isn't named its title. What is and why it up? Yeah. What is and what should never be? Which I was like, oh, that's an interesting title. It's a long one. Yeah. It almost didn't fit on my title. But above all my notes. Annie, who? The boys have a new license plate on baby.

Berly

Yeah, that was the first thing you noticed. Well, it was the first thing they showed right zoomed in on it and it wasn't the blue one with I don't remember exactly what it was. But I know there was like a K and an S I think and this one was red. There was more red. And it was C y or something.

LA

I think this recap is it says it went from a Kansas license plate to an Ohio one. Oh, there

Berly

you go. Yeah. Not CSC ca z to y five. Yeah. to Ohio C and K eight, zero Q three, which makes sense because Henrickson. They're like we gotta

LA

Yeah. Oh, well lit like the last inning of the last episode. They were like, We gotta go deep like we got to. Oh, that's right. Yeah, like they're in hiding because of all the

Berly

shit that went. They can go in as deep as they like. Yeah, real deep.

LA

Okay, no, no, no, no. Okay. I just the way I said that. I was like, Oh, all right.

Berly

Brain caught up with my.

LA

Okay. Well,

Berly

so new license plate movie.

LA

So yeah, Dean's driving out. He's he's out driving and he gets a call from Sam and Sam is here. They're paranoid. Like they're on the run. They're deep. Sam is worried because there's a cop outside. And Dean's like, oh, no, no way. I got rid of all the credit cards and they changed her license plate. All that so they should be good. And luckily, the cop car carries on. Jane, Dane. Okay, Dina asks Sam about what they're what he's found in his

research so far. And he starts talking about gins that are all over history, but very focused in the Muslim Koran. He mentions that there's been a string of disappearances and that's what they're investigating. And he's saying that perhaps it could be a gin which sounds kind of like a genie. I guess the grant wishes.

Berly

Don't step on my pervade okay. I'm sorry. That's the Lord.

LA

I didn't know. Okay, let me back it up.

Berly

But anyway, it picks up like in the midst of a case we don't have a typical episode where we see the paranormal thing that happens that brings Sam and Dean to town like all that's already happened. They're already there. They're already looking into

LA

it. Yeah, this episode is a little different. Yeah. And Sam mentioned that Jin's feed off of people. They've been feeding off of people for centuries. And I guess he I think you also mentioned something about that they grant wishes, but I guess they'd grant them while feeding off of the people. So it's kind of like a lose, lose, win lose situation. I don't know.

Berly

They also shout out Barbara Eden from I Dream of Jeannie. Oh, yeah. talks about how she was hotter than the chicken bewitched.

LA

Yep. I can't remember why. But why does Diego end up going to like warehouse?

Berly

He asked Sam for more information on the research because Sam had like, I want to say it was at least six books. Oh, yeah. That he was looking into with gins and Sam said that gins were most likely to be found hiding among ruins, or like abandoned things like with places to hide. And Dean said, You know what, I spotted a place a while back. That sounds like that could be matching up to that description. I'm gonna go check it out.

LA

Right. And I mean, I keep calling it a warehouse. I don't really know what it was. That's what it looks like that. Yeah, it was

Berly

like an old office building warehouse thing. Yeah. But abandoned, clearly abandoned.

LA

Right. And he so we see him go in and he's got a big ol knife. And you notice that it looked like it was dipped in something. Like and I said, dead man's blood. But that's not correct. That's for vampires. We found out later it was lambs blood. Right. Right. Right. Which weird. Yeah, but okay. innocent lamb. Oh, yeah. So we see him walking and it was a cool shot because there's like a opaque window situation that he's walking by and a little

behind him. You see somebody almost looks like a like a bald white head and kind of following closely, but along with where Dean is walking, and all of a sudden this thing attacks Dean and it's this guy. He's bald. He's tattooed like bald head, face, neck, hands everywhere. And Dean goes to stab him but the guy gets the better of him. And he puts his hand over his or first he gets this blue. Like fight flame going in his hand and then puts his hand on Dean's

forehead. And Dean goes out his eyes rolled into his head and

Berly

Yeah, his the gens eyes. Were turning that blue color too. Right. I thought it looks cool. It was it was really cool. Yeah, I did not think it was cool when Dean's eyes were like rolling back. Yeah, we were very worried for him. Yeah.

LA

And, uh, very abruptly it switches to Dean waking up in a bed. And there's a movie playing in the background. I think your notes said it was from or not your notes. The recap thing. Said it the movie He was from hell it came. That was in the back background. And you notice immediately Dean's wearing this like silver fancy necklace. Not the normal one. He

Berly

got his amulet. Yeah, that thick, thick, chunky amulet thing, right?

LA

This one is more delicate. Like it's silver. Yeah, really thin chain, like,

Berly

what is happening fans, and you were writing notes. So he sat up and I saw this really thin chain around his neck. And I was like, okay, that's not right, like what's happening? And then I realized how much of his neck and shoulder I could see and I was like, oh, LA. I don't think he has a shirt on. And you were like, pause it.

LA

Watch it. She was a tease because we only saw it. We didn't I don't even think we saw nipples. Did we? Not clearly Yeah. So it was just shoulders, which that's fine. I'll take it. And he looks over and he is in bed with some lady who is also not clothed, but covered with a sheet. He gets out of bed and goes to it's he's in this house and he's walking around. Oh, when he calls Sam. And he's like, Sam, I just woke up Nexus, this random lady like, I don't know what's going on. And then

he's talking about the jinn. And Sam is like, Have you been drinking? He's like, What are you talking about your?

Berly

He's like, Oh, yeah, the Jen got you. Yeah.

LA

And he's like, What do you mean, you? Yeah, you're with Carmen are acting like he's crazy. Just blow them off. He's like, I'll talk to you later. And they hang up. And Dean is very confused. Carmen comes out, tries to get him back to bed. And he's like, Yeah, you go ahead. And he starts looking around at pictures and they're very clearly in a relationship. He and Carmen. They're obviously living together. And like, What

the hell is going on? And he leaves the house after looking at a particular picture, which they don't show. They never show us but he drops it and it breaks. We see him pull up to a house. That's very Oh, no, you're and it is the child.

Berly

It was familiar, but it was also slightly off. Right. I like that. They did that. Yeah, they made it more. What is the bit Leave It to Beaver family cookie, beaver cleaver white picket fence like just, it was just off? Yeah. It's a little two. Wife. Perfect.

LA

Yeah. But it is their home their childhood home from Lawrence, Kansas. And he goes to the door. And who answers the door but Mom, mom is alive and well. And looking fab I was gonna say like, I feel like they did something to make her look like she looked a little older. Yeah, but it just slight enough. Like it was good. Yeah, she still looked. I think

Berly

they I think they painted her wrinkles. A little bit more on her forehead. Those didn't look quite natural. I agree. Yeah. But she still looked amazing. Oh, yeah. Samantha Smith, Queen shout out,

LA

which I meant to mention. Like she was in a robe. And it looked like she was wearing that same night gown. Yeah, from the pilot underneath it. And anyway, so she answers the door and Dean is just taken aback. Mom is alive. He comes in. He's acting kind of crazy. She's like, What are you like, Carmen called me? Like, what are you doing here? And he's looking around at the pictures and we see Sam's graduation pictures with mom and dad and I can't remember what

all the pictures are. But he sees dad and a softball uniform with a bat. And he lives he gets a chuckle out of that thinking that's funny. But then she she mentions that he loved that softball team and he realizes that dad is dead. Not mom in this. Yeah, whatever we are in reality wise. The past tense Yeah,

Berly

he picked up on that.

LA

So he I think he did. I can't remember what he said to get get it out of her how he died. But she says that he he knows that he died of a stroke and asleep.

Berly

He was like the thing that killed him was right. Which obviously we know Dean is thinking vampire demon. Something like that. Right? But she answered stroke. Yeah, he died in asleep. You know that silly goes. Not the

LA

death for Hunter. Dean's super happy to see his mom he keeps hugging her. He won't he says he wants to stay the night. She can't imagine like your grown son. Like has his own house or whatever. He's like no one wants to hear just wants to hear tonight. But she's like okay and agrees and says to get some rest loves him. He wakes up to a family Christmas picture right in front of him.

Berly

The Photoshop on that Christmas picture? Oh, no, it was the graduation. Yeah. For Sam that I was like, Oh, bless them. They could have done a little bit. Some of the pictures were okay. Some of them I was like, probably shouldn't have zoomed in close on. Yeah. They did their best.

LA

Maybe not best. They

Berly

appreciate the effort of actually using the actors. Yeah, like I appreciated that.

LA

Yeah. Well, Dean decides to go and talk to a professor who I guess deals in myth mythology and whatnot because he's talking to him about Jin's Dean so hyped up and talking to him about the gins. Once again. The professor also asks if Dean has been drink King James like why does everybody keep asking me that? So he gets some information from the professor on the Jin's granting wishes supposedly granting wishes. And then he's back at home eating the best sandwich ever. Quote.

Berly

I just I was salami made. Yeah, Mommy made it. But I was saying salads and sandwiches. They aren't hard to make. They are. But for some reason, they just taste better when somebody else does it.

LA

Yeah. Well, yeah, you don't have to put on. Plus, sandwiches are the best sandwiches. And he's, he's just acting off to her mom's perspective. And he looks out in the back and says that the lawn needs to be mowed. She's like, you want to mow my lawn? And he's like, I love the model. She's like, I don't think you've ever done that a day in your life. But okay. And so he got he heads out there mowing the lawn. It's like a total just sit calm thing. He's out there. Mowing in his jeans waving to

the neighbor. And he's just he's loving it. A little later, after or while he's mowing. car pulls up, and it is Sam and Jessica.

Berly

She is she's alive as well.

LA

And yeah, and Sam looks a little douchey he's wearing some pastels. When I first Okay, when I first saw him pop up from the car. It looked like his hair was really long. And like in his like, like he had bangs that were like down. And then I just saw the pastels and I cracked up because I was like, Oh my God. He looks like such a douche. But then when he came around the corner or the back of the car, I was like, oh, no, that's not what I was thinking. I don't

know. I don't know. I had a moment there where I was just like, oh God, but then it wasn't that Ben. Dean is super excited to see Jessica even though he like, hardly knew her. He's just excited that she's alive, Sam's happy and they're they have flown in to celebrate mom's birthday. And they're all go to dinner or Carmen's there. And once again, Dean is just super happy. They're all together seeing Sammy happy. Sam gays. Yeah, yes. They just announced that they're engaged. And he's

so excited. And I bet refractive into this. Dean does keep seeing this woman, like everything's hunky dory. He's so happy. Everything's perfect. But randomly, he keeps seeing this woman and like a white top and skirt, just staring at him. And as he tries to get to her, at some point, she disappears.

Berly

The first time he saw her was after talking with the professor, which by the way costuming department that professor was fabulous. Except it didn't like his classes. They didn't look good on his face. You didn't do him any favors there. Yeah, do better.

Unknown

But anyway, he was leaving when he was leaving there. He opened the trunk to the Impala also at that point, and it was just like, magazines and a T shirt. No, go go gadget trunk. Yeah, just some random trash back there. And that's when he saw her the first time. Right. And when he saw her at the restaurant, when he saw her at the university, she just looked like a girl. She stood out. There was something you knew there was something different, especially because she was just staring at Dean.

But she looked like you're at the restaurant. She was like a little worse for wear. Yeah, you know, jewelry rough. Yeah. And like, just a little, just like very ashen. Yeah. Colored. Yeah. And they all see him he searched charge not charging, but he's like walking swiftly to this corner of the room where he sees the girl, but his family is seeing him just

LA

like walking to this link corner. And so they're a little confused. They're like, Okay, do you know what's going on? He's like, Oh, nothing and

Berly

they were all like congratulating Sam for the engagement when this happened and he just started be lining for a certain it was weird. Yeah, I can understand from their perspective how they were going. What the fuck is right?

LA

They all get home mom says she had a lovely birthday. She's going to bed. And Jessica Dean. No, not Jessica Dean. Just Whoa, that could have had a really different episode. Just Good Sam say that they're they're tired. They're going about two Dean's not having he's like whoa like he's excited that his brother he and his brother together in his mind their buds their wives or significant like guests or girlfriends or fiancee girlfriend are there let's let's

go out let's have a drink. And Sam's like yeah, I don't I don't think so. And he's like, come on. You're engaged. Let's let's celebrate. And, and Sam's. Like, can I talk to my brother alone and like you're like, Oh, shit. Yeah. And it turns out it sounds like Dean's a little bit of a scumbag that Sam tells him that they never talk. They only ever see each other talk on holidays. I guess at one point, Dean stole

Sam's ATM card. I get I can't remember what else but it was just like oh like Dean's a real scumbag. He's not like Sam doesn't like him.

Berly

It reminded me of him Romy and Michele's high school reunion after Michelle has that dream, where she's gets swept off with the fancy guy and then yeah, at the end, they're like, I'm the Rhoda and all that and when she comes to and finds romaine, she's like, if we weren't friends, and we weren't friends. Yeah, this is That's totally what Dean was doing was like, oh, no, we weren't we weren't friends. What 100% Romy and Michele. Yeah,

LA

you're totally right. That's funny. And I think Dean asks Sam something about hunting in Sam's like, I've never been hunting a day in my life, which is like, correct, probably crushing to Dean. So that's a bust. Sam ends up leaving Dean where he is and Dean goes home with Carmen. Or no, is He? Is he at home with mom or Carmen's? When he sees the people in the closet?

Berly

I believe he was at home with Carmen. Okay. I'm not certain about that. But I don't think it matters. Okay. He sees the people in the closet. That's important. Okay.

LA

Well, Dean After Sam has left him feeling scummy the class. There are two people to like, I guess like skeletons are not really skilled there. Were like they still had their skin. Yeah, there was she was dead ladies withered. Yeah. And there there have the reason they were raised. And yes, and yeah. And they are tied up with their arms above their head. Yeah, feeling. And I like that we're both doing this motion

is really weird. And he turns around, and the girl is there again, and the white and she looks even worse now. And I think she even has like a thing of blood on her shirt at this point, like spilling like something.

Berly

Yeah. Hang on. Like, yeah, like I'm really adding some Yeah, wonderful. So like,

LA

I do that all the time. What sparked him to go,

Berly

it was actually before he saw the people in the closet that they're back at the house. And Carmen is all were perfect. And this is great and perfect little relationship. So she goes to bed. And that's when Dean ends up dicking around on a computer and happens upon a flight that had crashed and goes, Wait a minute, we stopped that crash. And he starts looking up all the people they'd saved and we found out it wasn't just the people Dean and Sam had saved, saw the people their dad

had saved as well. Were not saved like they were all dead. And after that is when he went to the closet and saw the shit. So it was the shit in the closet that scared him into leaving.

LA

Okay, Jean ends up at the cemetery at Dad's grave and kind of has like this monologue to him about all those people that you saved, we saved they're all dead. You know, why are we the ones that have to sacrifice so much. He gets weepy and cries a little. So it was kind of a sad moment. He's just like realizing that they you know, what they do? Well, it can be rewarding to help people and save them but that like what kind of lives do they have? Like he has no significant other like neither

to Sam at this point. Dad didn't either before he died. So it's like they're just, they are sacrificing their opportunity to have any kind of life to be helping these people, which is wonderful, great, but also sad. And he heads well, we don't see him head back to the house. But we see Sam wake up and it's very reminiscent of the pilot. Yeah. Sam wakes up. He hears a noise runs downstairs and instead of them getting in a fight like they did in the dark. I mean, Dean just takes him down. No,

yeah, no problem. I think he even says he's like I'm a little embarrassed or like that took nothing. I'm embarrassed for you or something. And Sam's like what the hell like why would I you know, know how to fight or whatever. And he looks he gets up, looks over and sees that Sam Dean has gotten into mom's silver. There are boxes of her silver. Silver were sitting there. Sam asks what's happening? And Dean? Like,

Berly

he's basically like, oh, yeah, you piece of shit. You're stealing from mom now, right? Yeah.

LA

dean.he like apologizes to me. He's like, I'm sorry. You know that we're not close and, and Sam seems really taken aback by this. Like, what the fuck like he would never apologize like your dick. But he asks him what he's doing with mom's silver. And he's like, you want to know the truth? And Sam's like Yeah, and I really thought Dean was gonna be like, laying it out with gin and everything and then he thinks he's fucking crazy. Yeah, but instead he's like I owe I owe a guy like a

bookie like game, whatever. I owe some money. Again seems like very suspicious of Dean in this like you can tell. So they say whatever piece out, Dean gets in the car he's about to leave and little Sammy pops into the car with him. And Dean's like, what are you doing? And like No, and it was so funny. Like, I think Dean was like testing him and called him. Like their biggest jerk thing. Seems like why are you calling me a bitch? He's like, you're supposed to say

jerk back. It sounds like what the fuck?

Berly

What does that happen? Yeah,

LA

that was funny. Excuse me. I take a drink. So much talking.

Berly

A lot. A lot happened in this episode. Yeah. Well,

LA

Dean heads back to the warehouse from the beginning. And I'm sure Sam was like, Why the fuck are we at this warehouse? I thought you were like, your guy is in this warehouse. It's fucking weird. Well, actually, on the way, there's a bag there. And Sam is like, what is this? Dean tells him You don't want to know. And he opens it anyway. And it's like a little jug of blood. And Dean tells him it's lambs blood. And Sam is like, what the fuck? Like, no, I think he gets his

phone. I just started like dialing like, he's like you're having a psychotic breakdown, like what is happening? And he starts dialing something on his phone, I'm sure like 911 or who knows what. But Dean rolls his window down, throws Sam's phone out the window, which I'd be pissed about. Right. So they get there and they see the two ladies from the closet. Drained dead.

Berly

They looked like they had heard it through the grapevine.

LA

That is to get it. That awful

Berly

because they were raising. Yeah, I get it. Okay, you're on with those commercials? Yes, I

LA

do. That's terrible. But I get what you're saying, Oh, my God. After seeing those two ladies, dead, he sees the girl that's kind of been haunting him throughout this situation. And she looks really bad. Like she is not doing well. She is just barely hanging on. All of a sudden, I think Dean kind of starts putting two and two together. That this Jen has drained these two ladies, they're dead. This girl is on death's door. They kind of hide really fast because they hear a

noise. And the gin comes up to her and she's asking where her dad is because apparently that's been her situation. What she's been seeing is something with her dad. So I guess now she's actually seeing the real reality and sees the jinn. And he just does his little blue magic and tells her to sleep. And so she falls asleep and he takes the blood bag, the tip of it and like drink some of the blood from her that he's draining from her. Well. And Sam goes, Oh, yeah, Sam is horrible. Mike, and

the gin, here's me. He starts fight like looking for them. And that's actually I feel like when Dean starts explaining to Sam, like, I think this like, I must be tied up like this, like this must be happening to me right now. I'm somewhere like this well in the warehouse. And you're not real? Yeah. And he's like, any all of a sudden, he's like, you're I don't think you're real. And that's when Sam gets real defensive and starts being like, no, no, you're, you're here. And Dean pulls out

the knife. And he's like, you know, when you're dreaming right before you die, you wake up. And so he's like, ready to kill himself, supposedly kill himself. And Sam is trying to convince him no, and then I'll sudden, mom, Jessica and Carmen show up. And they all come at him. They're like cert, like circling him and convincing him like, you know, like, Mom is alive. And well. I'm happy with Jessica, don't you want to see that? Like, be with us? Carmen kisses him tells him she loves

him so much like this is? And I think even mom is like, you know, he's like, it's not real. And she's like, Yeah, but it's everything you want. You know, why? Why not stay? And he's like, Well, he's like, I'm going to be dead soon. Like, I'm being drained of blood right now. Like, what's, what's the difference? And she's, she tells him that it may. It may, he may be dying, but in here in this alternate reality, it'll, it'll feel like a lifetime to him. So he can have this fake happy

life. If he'll just stay. Like, in a way I feel like do you want him to stay? But like, in the back of his mind, thinking of all those people they've saved? Like, what a waste. I mean, also like, like, yeah, you want to stay in this like happy place, but like in the back of his mind, and it always wouldn't be real, you know, he would know. And it always wouldn't be quite right. Exactly. When I think especially the fact that him and Sam aren't close to

Berly

Well, that's what I meant. That's what I meant by the night. Not quite right, right. It's around me and Michelle, like we weren't friends. Yeah, but we weren't friends and like,

LA

yeah, they could work on it and build that relationship if he was to stay, but I just don't know. Like I said, they're trying to convince him and he says, nope, and stabs himself in the heart. It kind of shows Sam like rushing to him. But then it switches and it's Dean hung up from his hands. And Sam is right there trying to wake them up, which was a good cause it was such a good transition. Yeah, I loved that. Yeah. And it's like, oh, like, it's just once again, this love affair between these

brothers. Like, they always say to each other, oh, before that happens. I don't know if you can cut this in. But I did want to mention, like, Sam, when he was trying to convince Dean. He kind of went and went along with what Dean was saying, at Dad's grave. He's like, why do we have to save everything? Why is it up to us? Like, haven't we done

enough? Which really probably like, Dean was like, Well, shit, like, that's what like I was saying to dad at his grave, but luckily, Dean had some sense and knew he needed to get back to reality.

Berly

Well, I think a lot of these things, you know, the gin basically used Dean's subconscious to manifest this reality, right? Because whenever Dean is talking with the professor, he says something about a wish that you've never even said out loud. That Jen knows he's had these thoughts. Oh, yeah. Using his own thoughts against him.

LA

Well, and I feel like it's such a classic thing like and like when new people get their wishes. Like there's always like an alternate, where like something shitty.

Berly

Well, be careful. Be careful what you exactly. Yeah, you know, there's a saying for it.

LA

Right. So it's like mom's alive. Dad's dead. Dan, you don't have your brother. Really? Yeah. But anywho. So as Sam is trying to cut Dean down from his bindings, the gin shows up and starts going after Sammy. And we know how that hap what happens when that people go. Oh, Sammy.

Berly

That reminds me of another thing where it's like it wasn't right is whenever dean called Sam Sammy. And he said since when you call me Sam, you and I both were like

LA

while the gin is trying to like it's almost the same thing that happened in the beginning. The Gin pushes Sam up against a wall. He's ready to stab him. But the gin knocks his hand knife falls to the ground. Same thing that happened with his tussle with Dean.

Berly

We knew though we were like, Oh, you don't touch Sammy.

LA

Oh, I know. Yeah, that's all I'm saying. We know what happened. We knew what was gonna happen. So somehow this whole time Dean has been tied up with his hands, but but the second somebody does something to Sammy. He's like breaking out. He gets out of those bindings. And the gin has Sam up against the stairs like about he's got his blue smoke ready to take him out. But Dean comes and stabs him with the lamb dipped knife. At twists. Yeah. So he's a goner. They I think they're back

at the motel. Well,

Berly

they do save the white white dress for Oh, yes.

LA

Yeah, see, I'm gonna or Dean goes Diems very worried about her. Yeah, he goes over and he thinks she's dead. But like you noticed I was taking notes and you said oh, she had a tear right now face so she's still alive. And he like he

Berly

thinks I actually didn't realize she was still alive. I actually thought that was so sad that look, there's a tear running down her face. Like I thought they just barely missed it. And she I thought she was gone. But then dean like put his hand on her pole. So she's alive. And I was like, Oh, okay.

LA

And they cut her down. And Dean's got which Dean looks like once again, like he's not looking his best because he's been drained of blood. And he grabs her and holds her and he's like, I got you got you. Which I was like maybe let's see um, get her because yeah, I don't think you need to be carton her around carrier. Somebody

Berly

get him a cookie.

LA

So they save her. They're back at the motel chatting about

Berly

this motel had a partition wall as well. Yeah. With some lantern things on it, which I'm happy. I finally remembered the word. I feel like we've had so many episodes where I'm like, what's it called? The half wall separator partition wall.

LA

Yes. It's not a full wall. It's like a

Berly

half. Yeah, I did. Yeah. Yay.

LA

Dean is basically telling Sam, how things were on this reality. And he tells Sam that he was a was a was in it. And Dean admits that he really really wanted to say he wanted to stay so bad, even though he knew it wouldn't be real. And then he again he touches on what he said at the dad's grave and what Sam said right before he stabbed himself, you know how much this job has cost them and how much they've sacrificed to

do these things. And, you know, I guess it's, it's a big deal and a big decision for them to just keep carrying on with this and constantly serving others and not themselves. all's you know? And it really just kind of abruptly ends with that.

Berly

Yeah, like Sam. Sam is basically telling him. It's not fair, but it's worth it. Right. And then it shows Dean kind of look at them and yeah, it just kind of cuts just kind of ends there. There wasn't a gore in this episode really?

LA

No, not at all.

Berly

But what did you adore about this episode?

LA

I? I really did. It was nice to see mom. Yeah, it was really nice to hear and then I don't want to keep saying Jean stuff. I thought it was cute. That's, I mean, I guess in a way, it was nice to see Sam. Like as much as it was nice to see him with Jessica engage happy like completing Law School. The word I didn't like that he and Dean weren't close.

Berly

Well, that brings me to what I adored about this episode was, I don't know if character development is the right word to use. Maybe character reinforcement that in Dean's perfect world, so to speak. I mean, that's kind of what this was. Dean's a piece of shit. And Sammy is successful and thriving, right? We already know this to be true from like something wicked. You know, Sam's happiness is more important than Dean's Dean does not see himself as worthy. Right. So it was like this

reinforcement thing. I think the only reason the you said at the end he was saying I really wanted to stay. I think what kept him from staying were the things that were off. Yeah. You know that his brother wasn't his best friend, his best buddy. That this Carmen person who the fuck is this? And I told I said it to you while we were watching. I wonder how much different it could have been. Theoretically writers. Hello. If it wasn't Carmen, but it was Cassie. From route 67. That

deserves Yes, yeah. Yeah, that would have been I mean, even harder for him to leave. Exactly. Exactly. And I kept wondering for continuity sake, why didn't they use Cassie? Why didn't they use Cassie? And then when they got to him going through and looking at all the news stories of all the people they saved. I said, Oh, well, I mean, I guess theoretically, Cassie is not alive at this point. The racist truck got her. You know, if deemed it wasn't

there to save her. I can't help but wonder storywise you know, what could that have done? If he woke up and Cassie was at his side? And Cassie was telling him it's okay. Come to bed? How much more different would that have been? If it wasn't the stranger that he's seen in some alcohol ad? instead? Yeah. You know, but again, like I said, in Dean's perfect world, Dean's happiness doesn't matter. And that's sad. I know that

LA

that's what you adored.

Berly

The character reinforcement. I mean,

LA

no, I know. I'm just kidding. So what's with the low or?

Berly

Okay, the Lord? There was a ton of shit about Jenkins. Online. Oh, really? It was a lot. I decided to go with a single article from inside Arabia, called gin and Muslim culture, truth or superstition. According to the article in the broader Muslim world, people strongly believe in the existence of supernatural beings called Jen because the Koran explicitly confirms their existence and considers them an independent nation. There is a

whole chapter in the Quran. Hang on, I put a link Koran Oh yeah, cool Ron Quran Quran. So there's an entire chapter in the Quran named the chapter of Jen, DJ Inn where detailed information about these beings as rebuild like human beings, some of the jinn may be righteous and benevolent, but others are sinners and evil doers. We learn from the Koran that Jen may marry, procreate,

live and die. However, Muslims all over the world believe that God created Chen and humans for the purpose of inhabiting the earth and worshipping Him, and the professor in the episode talks about some of this stuff. The word Jin is in fact reiterated on many occasions in the Koran in association with humans attesting to the Islamic belief that Jinn belong to another nation that exists parallel to humans in another

dimension. Muslims believe that these transparent and invisible beings have tremendous powers and are not predetermined by the laws of physics such as matter, weight, time and place. Unlike Humans they straddle the invisible and the manifest worlds and move across dimensional boundaries. They can also travel anywhere in the blink of an eye and metamorphose into the shape of other beings, such as cats, dogs, birds, serpents, or even other humans.

Despite their powers, Jen can be called upon to serve human beings because according to Islamic belief, humans are superior to Jen, Jen were created from smokeless fire while humans recreated from water and earth. The belief in gin, demons and ghosts is modern folk culture in the Muslim world. And Muslims believe that jinn are capable of possessing humans and inflicting suppo inflicting suffering upon them.

The Prophet Muhammad has commanded His followers to perform many rituals and recite many prayers to protect themselves from the evil of jinn, who permanently look around to harm people. Places like toilets, baths, garbage dumps, forests, abandoned houses, cemeteries, caves, mountains, and wherever there is uncleanliness are the Jen's favorite abodes and believed to be dangerous to human beings.

There has been much anthropological anthropol Anthropology, you got an anthropological and ethnographic participant observation research done in the Arab world, on the belief in jinn and the rituals accompanying this belief among different cultural and ethnic

communities. Robert labelings legends of the Fire Spirits, gin and genies from Arabia to Zanzibar explores the world of gents across the Islamic world and how geographic and regional specificities HOLY SHIT I got that out yeah, have shaped them within local cultures. The book provides an extraordinary account of how religion and folktales have shaped Muslims perceptions of the realm of Gen. American ethnographer Vincent, crop azana Oh, okay, the ethnographic account, the hum.

Hamid Shah, a study in the Moroccan Anthro psychiatry by Vincent crappin. zannino abounds with tills of gin saints and their Baraka which Baraka isn't that a mortal kombat character.

LA

I think you're right. I think you're right yeah.

Berly

So um, okay, so these supernatural powers includes, like telepathic communication, instantaneous travel across dimensional travel and other paranormal phenomena. Building on FEMA Knology, psychoanalysis and symbolism. crappin zato delves into the rare rituals and psychology and beliefs of the Hamad shot a group to explore the concepts of reality truth, superstition and psychology. In a thrilling ethnographic study.

The belief in gin though it may seem hallucinatory or delusive, to modern day skeptics, is nurtured by religion and core religious texts such as the Quran and the Hadith. Rejecting the existence of jinn and Islam is forbidden according to Muslim scholars and jurists, because it is considered apostasy. Okay, the abandonment or renunciation of a religious or political belief. I learned a new word

today. Those who deny the existence of gin are also those who deny the existence of gin also deny the Quranic verses that confirm their existence. Whether the belief in gin is true or superstition, the recognized existence of inexplicable paranormal phenomenon throughout the world attests to the fact that there are indeed many things that are still beyond human understanding, despite the tremendous scientific leaps in the last two centuries. So not so much about wish granting you

here. But they do have a bunch of supernatural powers, which includes things like telepath A, so I guess if they could see what you're thinking and can force hallucinatory things? Yeah, just like what we saw in the episode. It's not so much that they grant your wish, as it is that they make you hallucinate that your wish came true, right? That interest doing interesting.

LA

Okay, well closing it out. We got a quote from Dean he. Carmen says she's got the late shift. She's got night she's got to work nights. And you can tell he's kind of thinking like, Oh, she's like a stripper dancer or something. But he's like, Oh, I'm dating a, and he comes around the corner and she's pulling out scrubs. He's like a nurse. Oh, that's so respectable. Sure. Which is funny because like an episode, he's like, What are you doing? And she's like, I just have lost

Berly

Thank you for listening to denim wrapped nightmares.
