Last episode, Dean and Sam are living very normal and separate lives. Dean is a corporate man who enjoys help drinks and salads and listens to NPR instead of rock stations. Meanwhile, Sam is an IT support, and he has a buddy that's kind of a pain in the ass. They work at a company called sand over bridge and iron. It seems as if the two do not know each other. However, after coworkers start committing suicide at an alarming rate. The two of them find themselves working side by
side to solve the murders. There was a ghost. Yep, yep. And then it turns out up. Angels. Nope. Zachariah was behind it the whole time played by the fabulous Kurt fuller. We got to see a little bit more of him. He just keeps popping in at the end of the episodes. I want to see more. Come on. Show me what the Zacharia guys all about. I'm sure we will. I hope so. Good to hear. That was last episode. Right?
Well, our episode for today. For today. I can't talk. It's called the monster at the end of this book. And it's the 18th episode of season four and it aired on April 2 2009. It starts with a guy in his boxer shorts and his robe just spread eagle almost
rolled out little belly poking out over the boxers asleep with like a paper on his chest. Like look at Rob Benedict being kind of sweaty again. Oh my god just sprawled out on that couch.
So he I for some reason I put that he was he started having flashbacks. I have no idea why? Because clearly he was dreaming. But I was like
flashbacks. This man is traumatized.
But no, he was dreaming. And so it was just little flashes of things. I can't I couldn't even tell you what they were really I don't remember. But
the little excerpt from the wiki thing says he sees a motel room sign a girl, the Impala and Sam and Dean
good that you saw that because I never pay attention. So next, then it switches to a comic bookstore and Sam and Dean walk in start asking the guy at the counter about any sounds like flickering lights. And they're like, you know, any scratching in the walls and they had said they are from the FBI and the guy's like so the FBI is investigating rodents? Yeah. Come on, guys. Like what's what's really going on here? And then he all of a sudden he thinks he's like, Oh, you guys
are LARPing? And of course St. Medina really would we don't know what that is. And he's like, you know, come on, like live action. roleplay. And, and then he mentioned like, he's like, like the guys from Supernatural. And they're still confused. And the guy mentions that there's this book, supernatural, Sam and Dean and, you know, they go on all these missions or whatever. And that wasn't really popular, but it had kind of a cult underground
cult following. Yeah. So he goes, it shows them the book. And sure enough, like, it's pretty much the story of their lives. And Sam immediately he's like, we're gonna need all the copies you've
got the illustration on the front was like, almost a romance book. Yeah, with the six packs and the long flowing hair and everything
is a love story of type. Two is true. And so then they're in the motel. And Dean's reading the book, and he's just like, the wielder telling Sam like it's literally everything we've been through. He's like, Come on, man. I'm like full frontal in here. Yeah. And I'm like, we missed that.
Where was that scene?
Let's see it. Mm hmm.
Rewind. I remember the racist trunk. I don't or truck Oh, yeah. I don't remember a full frontal
right. Me either robbed. Mm hmm. But it's funny. He starts telling D or Sam about that. There's Sam girls, and then there's Dean girls. And then there's Sam Dean. You know,
love Sam slash Dean girls. Yeah. They did not like that.
No, they thought that was gross, which you know, rightfully so. So they see that the author's name is Carver Edlin, and they search and find his publisher. And they they, I think they did some Googling, trying to find where Carver Edlin lived or if they could find out anything about him. And they realize it's probably a pen name to just, you know, he's private doesn't want his real identity out there. So they go to the publisher, and she's
talking to them. And they're basically asking her for the real name of the real guy. And she's like, Who are you guys? I mean, come on. I don't want some smartass article making fun of the bowl, or what she said, My boys, my boys. And she won't give it up to him. But then Sam decide Sam like, pulls the shirt over and shows her the tattoo. And he's like, we're really big fans. It's like, we're the real deal. And then dean reluctantly shows his, and then the lady
drops her pants. turns around to show him wherever her tattoo is. I'm assuming on her butt or, I don't know. The Tramp Stamp. What? Well, you don't have to pull your pants down. So yeah. Once she there, you know kindred people spirits. They've bonded Yeah, now that they bonded tattoo showing. She tells them that the guy's name is Chuck Shirley. And we find out he is the guy from the beginning that was laying on the couch having dreams, non flashbacks. So they
go to his house. Obviously, he doesn't believe them when he's like, we're Sam and Dean. And he's like, okay, guys. Yeah, thanks. Don't know. Thanks. Yeah, shuts the door on him. They ring the bell again. And he's he's just not convinced they take him out to the car, show him that. The guns, the assaults, all that stuff. And he's still a little apprehensive.
And he's still in just like a tank top and box early in his row. Same thing
from the beginning. And like, they go back inside, and they're so much bigger than him. They're like towering over him like intimidating him. And he's like, some kind of like misery thing. And they're like, No, it's not some kind of misery thing. He thinks that they're like his number one fans, and he's a little scared of them. They're talking to him trying to convince him still that everything you write has happened to us, and they think he's psychic. But he decides
that he's a God. He thinks he's a god. And they're like, no guy. I don't think that's what it is.
Well, they finally convinced him that they're telling the truth, because they start saying things that he never wrote in the books. Right? Like their actual last name and stuff. Oh, yeah. Forgot
about that. Yeah. He said he had never even written that down. It was just he knew their last name in his head. Then he mentioned about what he's what he wrote next. And it's he they he says it's a little Vonnegut in the new book. It's weird. Who's Vonnegut? Kurt Vonnegut? He's an author.
Okay, what's he written?
If he hadn't asked me, I could tell you,
writer and humorist Slaughterhouse Five sirens. Oh, he mentioned that Dean mentioned that. Yeah. Hocus Pocus. Vonnegut hocus pocus. No, I
don't know about that one.
I've never read any of these. So move on.
Well, anyway, he starts to read to them what he just wrote, and it's literally what's just going on what's happening them coming to his house confronting him. He tells them a little more about what he just wrote and says that his latest one is that Lilith is coming to visit Sam. And they'll they're gonna have a night of fiery demonic passion.
Sam is just like, No way. Yeah, I call bullshit. Like no,
that's not gonna happen. And Dean is worried because they're he's thinks that they're not prepared to really like fight Lilith.
That made me start questioning. Oh, like, so. Does he not know what happened with Alistair?
Which now, like, at the time when we were like discussing that and thinking he didn't know it's kind of weird now.
I guess knowing that he did know. Yeah, could I both have white eyes? So we were thinking, okay, so if Sam can kill Alistair surely he can kill Lilith, the white eyes. But I guess that that just because they have the same eyes doesn't mean that she's not more powerful, I guess. Because Dean is still pretty convinced that even though he does know we find
out later he does know. Yeah, he's still convinced that they aren't ready to take on Lola like as she's supposed to be like the most powerful one right? I guess. But at the time we were totally like so what did they tell him? Yeah, what is he thinking happened with Alastair to Cassiel lie to him. Oh, scandal but now
which I think we then we realize it's like Dean does know about it, but he doesn't want Sam to have to do that again. I guess because he thinks he's gonna go to the dark side if he keeps doing it.
But yeah, we are we are we're getting ahead of ourselves.
So back to demon sex. Yes. And Chuck Shirley. Oh, I don't I don't even know if I said the they find out his name is structurally I think you did. Okay. All right. But I like his name. So you can say, Shirley Shirley, they take off and leave Chuck and they read through Some of the pages of what's what's going to be happening here coming up, and they decide to just try and do everything opposite. They say they're going left. They're gonna go right.
Dean orders a bacon and cheese bacon cheeseburger in the story. So he ordered a tofu burger instead. They're chit chatting about just the plan and how they're gonna do everything opposite. And the lady brings in their food, then comes back real quick after Dean bites into his burger saying tofu was delicious. And she comes back and it's like, Oops, sorry, gave me the other burger. The real burger. The burger. Bacon Cheeseburger. I don't know. I can't talk.
The other thing that happened in this conversation was Dean threw some shade. Oh, yeah, I had that too. Oh, it was real shady. Sam's all like, I'm not gonna hook up with Lilith. That's ridiculous. I wouldn't do that. And he's just like, really? You wouldn't fuck a demon Sam. Really? Oh, yeah. He's
like, Yeah, cuz that's like, that's something that would never happen ever happen.
It was like she bet you wish you hadn't shared all those details. Now, Sammy.
I think both. Both sides. Like that was the mistake. Anyway. So after the diner, they go pull into a motel and they don't go to the red motel, which is the one that's in the story that Chuck wrote. I forget what the name of the one they pull up to is but or Reno or something? Oh, okay. Dean calls it the hooker Hotel.
Because you pay by the hour. Oh, that's okay.
Well, he decides from what the story said he's leaving Sam in the hotel room, and to not do any research. He's not to do anything. He takes the computer with him just to be safe and tells him he needs to just stay in the room and watch the porn. Because that is not what's written in the story. Dean is not going to go drive around like
he's gonna go park the car. Yeah, I was like, weren't you just parked at the motel?
Yeah, I don't know this little process there.
Okay, but let's just move past it.
Yeah. He does park the car and I forget where he's coming from when he's coming back to the car. But he sees some kid trying to break into the car. And he starts to run over there and gets hit by a van, which is part of the story that they were reading earlier in the van where Dean something about Dean with a pink bandaid on his face. Seeing stars. I forgot to say when Dean is leaving the this is going to be a mess. Dean when he was leaving the motel whatever the name was, What did you say was
to rido to read? I think it was it flashes and everything goes blank except for the red part. So it ends up being the red Hotel. Yeah, from the story. Check shows up at the hotel on his own. All right.
Now Sam calls him into like, I need to talk to you.
Okay. Yeah, I don't know why they couldn't have this conversation over the phone. But Sam asks, Chuck, if he knows about the demon blood, the gross situation that Sam has put himself in and check
was like, I didn't write that because I didn't want you to seem unsympathetic. And same was like, unsympathetic, like, Jesus. And then check was like, I mean, come on, Sam. You're sucking blood. And lying to your brother and lying to your brother about it. Like, you know, you know, this isn't good. Come on, man.
Well, then I think he goes on to say like, he's scared. He is scared of his abilities. And he thinks that Dean's not up for the job. He's not the same anymore. But then even mentioned, like he's willing. He's looked after me my whole life. It's like, oh, he's looked after your whole life. And then look at what you're doing how you're treating him. Yeah, real shit. He's Yeah,
yeah, he's saying like, who else is gonna do it? I have to stop the apocalypse. And Chuck even said, Isn't that supposed to be Dean's job? Yeah. Aren't the angels saying that's Dean's job. And that's when Sam was like, He's not strong enough.
Yeah, lo and behold, of course, he says, you know, just all rests on little Sammy shoulders.
This episode totally solidified for me. My theory that Sammy gets off. I'm thinking he's powerful.
Oh, yeah, of course. Yeah. I mean, most people do. How are those people's heads? You know? True. What is it? It's like more money, more problems, more power, more problems.
Submission can be fun. For some that was almost a poem.

We didn't know it. Ah, oh my goodness. Well, now a lot going on. Next up. We've
got Dean on the ground. unconscious, just where I liked him. Oh, my God.
Oh my god. I don't know I just that that it's the kink. It's all the kink going on. There's just so much kink. Just a little helpless.
unconscious, that's terrible. Anyway, so he's like kind of coming out of it after being hit from the van. And he sees stars because the lady like leaning over him is wearing these very costumey long star earrings. Which What do you do on on like a Wednesday with these earrings on?
Yeah. Did you talk about that prophecy earlier? What the Singstar
think all of that. See,
you don't need to go into detail. But essentially what we're seeing unfold here is a prophecy of chucks that Sam was reading. And both of them were like, this seems like bullshit. There's no way this would happen. And yet, it's totally happening.
Yeah, so and as Dean stands up, the little lady saying that her little girl that standing there is going through a doctor phase, and he walks over to the car, the back window is smashed, smashed, just like in the story that Chuck wrote. And Dean has flowery band aids on once all
over one side of his face. And so it shows Dean driving with a tarp on the back window, which again was written and he goes to Chuck's house and confronts him and he's got kind of like going up against gotten up against the wall like yelling at him like how the fuck do you know all this? How are you doing this? Yeah, cash shows up in his like Dino stop it.
Sloppy tax accountant comes in and says now
and he tells Dean that Chuck is not a god. He's a prophet. He's a mouthpiece a conduit, and he was made a profit by somebody pretty high up in the forget what he's the chain. The celestial chain. That's what he says,
Go out that profile. He like turns his head like side I do. It's like Dick Tracy or sin city like he should play a detective Misha Collins should be a detective in something.
I feel like he plays cast like Cass is kind of like a little bit of a daze all the time, but he's just like, he's like there. He's just observed and he just says things. But he's also somewhere.
Yeah, so he shows up and it's like, here's a profit. Stop at D leave that adorable little munchkin alone. You need to show him some respect. Hands off team hands off. Get on your knees. Oh, that's
not what happened. Oops. Cast, Dean that what Chuck has been writing ends up later on being the Winchester gospel, which I thought was very funny.
I liked that. Both Chuck and Dean. We're like, fucking serious.
Yeah. CASS says what is written can't be undone, everything that he's written is gonna happen. So you're gonna have to deal with it. And Dean wants to know how they can get around this whole Sam Lola's love connection. But I mean, there's just no way what is written cannot be undone can't be
on written what is what is written is going to happen. Yeah, I did notice in this episode for the first time, like it became noticeable to me. Hence my noticing it.
Obviously, yes.
How much deeper Dean's voices this season. Yeah. And I'm curious. When did that happen? Because I obviously didn't notice when the switch happened because I don't think it was just this episode. His voice is so much deeper this season. And I seem to recall hearing Jensen Ackles say that he deepened his voice because of Jeffrey Dean Morgan having a deeper voice and wanting to make Dean more like the dad. But I feel like it was only noticeable
this season. So I'm wondering if it's more, Misha Collins Castile coming in. Because I don't know about you, but I have a tendency to mimic. I don't mean to do it. But like if I'm talking to somebody with an accent, I'll start accidentally mimicking their accent. And I need to see that I don't even consciously do it. Like what I used to dance I had a ballet instructor who was
English. And I would accidentally mimic her accent back to her when I was talking to her and her where she would call me cheeky and think that I was making fun of her. Totally wasn't it wasn't a conscious thing. It's just what I hear something I tend to mimic it
back. And I'm wondering if it's not something more like that, that he's having to do these scenes with Misha Collins who's talking in this really deep voice that Jensen Ackles slowly started doing that unconsciously because I didn't notice it so much in season two and season three, but I'm definitely noticing it this season. His voice is way deeper. And Jeffrey Dean hasn't been. Yeah, that's
what I was gonna I was thinking, you know, for a bit.
So I'm questioning everyone's experiences their own and whatnot, but I'm just saying, I don't know. I don't know that it was Jeffrey Dean that inspired the voice going deeper. It seems like it was Misha. Yeah. Just my two cents.
Maybe you're right.
But I really noticed that this episode. Yeah, I was like damn, he's talking real deep. Really getting in there and be like gravelling gravelly? Also, just while we're talking about my observations, can see kind of the gray starting to come into Robinett experience in this episode. Oh, yeah. You mentioned that like there's no white
patch. But you can you can see this Small little scattering of it's certain to come in what this was 2009 So yeah, and these men all got better with age right got it just not fucking we're gonna power through it we're gonna power through let's get to the golden era man I'm ready.
So fair that age so well. Anyway, Jean goes back to the hotel and wants to take off and just he thinks if they just take off and leave maybe it won't happen even though he's been told that's not going to happen. Look at he's looking around for the hex bags but he can't find them and he asks Sam what he did with him and Sam says he burned
them. They get into like an argument saying why Sam wants to go through with this and Dean's mentions how he knows what he did with Aleister because Castile is a little mark and told him and Dean's just concerned he'd he read it reiterates that he thinks that the more Sam goes down this path, the darker he's he's gonna be going to that side. Sam's not budging. Neither is Dean. So Dean leaves and leaves Sam in the room for him to have his
rendezvous with Lillith. Dean goes outside and he starts to pray. Oh, hell, so cash shows up. And they have a conversation about how Dean wants cast to help. Why can't he help them? Cast is like I can't interfere. Just like I already told you that what's been written can't be undone. I can't fucking help you. And Dean, and then the Dean says his little line of how Cass is tested him over and over and thrown him around every which way and he hasn't. Well, he has
questioned it. But you know, he's done what he's supposed to do. He says he hasn't asked Cath for much. But he's asking him now. And he he kind of like, threatens me. He's like, you know, if you don't help me now, when the time comes, I'm not going to do what you need me to do. CASS decides
to be a little sneaky snake.
Right? He says, I mean, look, all I can tell you is that I can or fear. Because when a prophet or Wait, he said, How does he put it? I think he's like, just basically saying that if there is a demon in the same room around a prophet that there's a prophet tethered to the ark angel that will show up and rain down upon the demon.
Yeah, he says A prophet is tethered to an ark Angel, which is the most fearsome wrath of heaven. Yeah. Like they're the mightiest warriors. They're scary as all fuck. And this is attached to chalk. And if there's anything that could be a threat, like a sincere threat to the Prophet, then the Ark angel will show up and fuck shit. Oh, yeah. He's like, you know, just I just want you to know like, that's why I can't help you. Wink when he like gives them like the side. I look slick.
Yeah, just so you know, baby, just so you know.
So Dean, of course goes and gets Chuck. And of course Chuck doesn't want to go. He's like, No, not going. Fuck you. And so Dean threatens him with a gun. Of course.
I love how there was like this dramatic music build up like that, Chuck. And you're totally expecting chuck to be like, Yeah, I'm gonna do it. Like cuts to Robin and it'd be like, no freakin way. Like, no, yeah, it was so funny.
But then it flashes back to the hotel. And sure enough little it shows up in the hotel room with Sam. Right off the bat. She asks where the knife is, and he's like, oh, yeah, that knife. It's on the nightstand. That knife that you want. And so she starts to walk over but then stops and pulls the rug up and he had a double strap underneath there. She touches the little side of it and it burns up. Yeah, so that ain't gonna affect her. She's not falling for all that and it
doesn't matter anyway. They like have some banter or whatever back and forth and she ends up telling him that she will stop doing like breaking the seals you know doing all that stuff she's doing if Sam agrees to her terms, because she wants things to go back to the good old days before the angels were their fucking are shut up.
She also said that she had somehow learned that she doesn't survive this fight. Right? Right.
And so she thinks or she wants in order for things to go back the way her to survive things. She wants Sam and Dean's heads on a stick. Just a little price to pay. Yeah. And she's like, Oh, and by the way, a contract with me takes more than just a little kiss there, Sam. Which I think that's what I'm going to tell people from now on to that makes no sense.
Just say what are these contracts?
to worry about? I thought it was really weird. She's like, don't worry Sam. like Sam was worried about this in the first place, which maybe he should be, but she's like the dental hygienist in here wants it. Yeah. So I was like, okay, whatever. I guess that's can be comforting to him in some way.
I mean, consent is good. Yeah. Because it's not libellous body. It's somebody else's body she's possessing through.
Okay, so yeah, she's just like, but
I wouldn't necessarily believe the demon possessing the body against their consent. Yeah.
Okay, demon. Let's, let's do this. Yeah, with this body. You still
I believe you.
And so he she starts running her hand up his big long leg. And he would she flashes her eyes white, which I'm like, isn't that what you think's gonna get him going? Flash those wide eyes? Because I'd be like, Oh, could you please stop? And so he like leans over on the bed and he's so he's so big. Like, it's like she's so tiny. And then there's this big man just coming. Yeah, laying on top of
her. But he does not plan on doing or apparently because he reaches for the knife on the nightstand and tries to go for she stops him.
He was trying to get a different kind of penetration going. That's right.
But he they are interrupted by Dean. Pretty much shoving Chuck into the room.
When Chuck gets shoved in he's like, I am the Prophet. Nelson his entrance is so fucking cute. Oh,
so and then so of course, like a whole the whole room start shaking or like an earthquake. Well, this like,
you gotta be fucking kidding me. Right? Archangel, it's gonna be even more dramatic. I mean, has to be hospitals entrance and all that. Yeah, it's got to be 10 times that. Oh, yeah, super drama.
But what? So the archangel doesn't actually appear? No, but the whole place shit is shaken up. And then Lilith just drops to the floor. I don't know what happened to her.
She bailed out. Oh, did she? Yeah, Tina. The Black smoke came out. Man. I was writing my notes. I missed that. Yeah, black she black smoked small because she would she bailed out. And then the body just fell. And everybody just sat there staring at the body. And that's when I looked at you and I went select is the dental hygienist. Okay, like I assumed she was alive as she was consenting to getting deep down like, Oh, yeah. But she never moved. And so I was like, was
little wiring as she did. What app and they just cut away? No way. No answers for us. No, the dental hygienist did not wake up and be like, wait a minute, I thought we were about to fuck like can you take off? Yeah, can you take it out of here? The demons gone? He and I had some plans. We'd like to get back to that back on track because per Lilith, I'm into I was ready for it. Yeah. That didn't happen. She just laid there unconscious or dead? We don't know.
Sometimes I wonder like, are we the only ones who care about these things? Like Did anybody else walk away from this episode being like, wait a minute, probably not. Was that intelligence alive? We're not
a dental hygienist. What
happened to her? No.
But we don't know. No. And then we're in the car with Dean and Sam. And they're talking about Lilith and the deal she was trying to make with Sam. I forget. But why they say that they think Lilith is running from something. It's Sam.
Sam ban. He just seemed very cocky and smug to me this episode. And that can like I'm I'm vibing with you now. Like I'm getting I'm on this. We're almost done with the season. And I'm finally vibing with you now on the whole Sammy thing. He's starting to irritate me. I think I already told you. You're like, my theory of him getting off on feeling like he's powerful feeling like he's the one. I'm feeling more solidified with that. Yeah. The he likes it. He likes the idea that he's the
only one. He's the chosen one. He's special. Because that continued in this car where she's running just the way he was saying it. It was very smug. Very. I have the upper hand and I'm the more powerful one, you know. Oh, yeah. kind of vibe.
And he's always been the little brother even though he's huge. And like, like you mentioned how Dean's always been the one to look after him. So now he's like, Oh, but I'm stronger now. I can take care of it. Dean can't
so like the question is, is that Sam? Or is that the demon blood talking?
That's true. Because demon blood.
Yeah, I hope it is too. Because we know he was drinking the demon blood while Dan was in hell. Yeah. We know that. So how much of this is Sammy and how much of this is demon blood influenced Sammy. He's addicted. I mean, he even said that when he was talking to chuck, he said I've tried to stop. Yeah, but I can't so I mean, he pretty much admitted that he's addicted drunk on that power.
Like you said, Oh, and mentions that he's gonna make sure Lilith doesn't survive the apocalypse.
Because he has the power to do that. And it's all on his shoulders, apparently. Yeah. Calm down sound.
Sit down. Simmer down. Take a beat. Well, then we see chuck, chuck dreaming again. And does it say what his what it is? He's dreaming is little flashback dreams.
It showed his contorted little face letting us know that they weren't good things. Yeah, but it didn't show us what was happening. Yeah.
After he wakes up. Zachariah shows up well, so he's there for you. He tells Zachary that he what he just saw. He feels like he needs to go and warn Sam and Dean. That's when zakra Like cast he's like, Oh, no, no, no, no. People should know too much about their destiny. Don't you go tell them anything? Checks like, well, what What the hell do you want me to do then he's like, you know, do what you always do. Right? Yeah. And it ends.
And that's what I was saying. Like we keep getting these little teases with Kurt fuller at the end like, yeah, give me some more like I'm pretty I Kurt Fuller's a talented actor. Let me see some more of this like the Zacharia character. How long are you going to tease us with it? I'm sure we'll see. Hopefully see some I want to see some more. Yeah. It was written by Julie siege and at Nancy wiener. It was directed by Mike roll. Also, we figured this out while we
were watching it. Chuck Shirley's pin name is Carver Edlund, which is a combination of supernatural writers Jeremy Carver and our favorite Ben Edlund. You there wasn't a gore. Know that. I can think of it all in this episode.

I did like when Cass was like, I just can't help you, Dean. But I can tell you this information that might help you.
That scene was really cool. I can't help you. Yeah, I liked how the two of them played it. Yeah. And I liked that when Dean went outside. Well, that was that same scene. Yeah. All that that whole scene, I guess. Yeah. That that whole scene Jensen Ackles. And Misha Collins. I liked the dynamic they had going there. It was really cute. And like the little side eye thing. Yeah, I mean, like I said, That was basically like a wink wink. Oh, without actually doing it. It was so

According to adventist.org. Most dictionaries agree a profit is a person who receives a divine message and speaks to other human beings on behalf of a deity. The Bible's definition based on how prophets are described throughout Scripture. And what they are tasked to do isn't much different than what the dictionary say. It's like being God's spoke person what spokesperson for a given time and place, being chosen as a prophet is considered an honor. And it demands courage,
diligence, and selflessness. Not easy things for imperfect humans to consistently maintain. Fortunately, one of the perks for prophets was God was with them every step of the way. So they didn't have to rely on their own human strength or confidence. Even though the foretelling of future events is not the primary function of a prophet. There's a reason it's common for people to think it's the defining characteristic of
Prophets. Several of the most famous prophets of the Bible revealed important aspects of the future to their intended audiences. Not necessarily circa like trashy novels. That wasn't usually the way but you know, true, like to each of their own whatever. God often spoke to His prophets directly, but when he had complex concepts to convey, God often gave his prophets visions. So that's like what we
were seeing with Chuck. I didn't feel bad for him when he was describing when he gets visions though.
Yeah, yeah, to go over his process where he dreams. And then he gets a headache,
though. He gets the headache first. And then he drinks until he passes out. I had an opposite way. And then once he's passed out, he dreams the visions. It's like Jesus. Yeah, that's rough. That's real rough. Not good for you. Yay. It's not good for you. Ever. Goodness, sometimes to really pack a punch with message God delivered through his prophets. There were miracles involved.
Oh, these usually happened with more extreme situations when it was dangerous for the prophets to proclaim these prophecies.
Okay, dangerous.
I don't know, man. I'm not a I don't know. The strangest prophet is probably not God dammit, blam. olam be a L A M,
blah, blah Balaam. Um, yeah, you're probably right. Yeah,
calm bow for short. He was not an Israelite. In fact, he worked with those who wished Israel harm. Yet he received messages from God and recognized his authority. Though, when bowels started going through his own way, instead of God's way. God had to set him back on the right path by talking through his donkey. Oh, that's not a metaphor. Oh, well, I figured his talking ass nah. So so far, we've talked about profits in a positive light. But the Bible also tells us to be wary of
false prophets. So yes, but not all false prophets are this easy to recognize? False prophets have been used by the devil to spread lies, mixing truth with error in order to seem more convincing. This is how you're going to find out if somebody is really a profit or not. Okay, to sum it up. These are the ways you can test a profit to see if they are really speaking for God. Number one, their prophecies should honor God, not themselves, or any other human
being. Number two, prophecies should always be in line with what has already been written as scripture. Number three, prophecies should never add anything to Scripture, but only refer back to it for the purpose of remount. Reminding or expounding upon it. I call into question that one because Can't you just like memorize the Scripture and then just like say like that, or expound upon something and make some stuff up. But since it relates back to the Scripture, people are gonna
be like, Oh, check. Okay, if they do make prescriptions This is number four. If they do make predictions, they must come to pass as spoken. I don't know what that means. I
feel like all these are a little like,
they aren't really good tests, right? Okay, number five prophecies often point out the sins of the people and tell them how to change. Again, I feel like I could make that up. Yeah, by memorize the Scripture. I feel like I could make I could make any of these up so far. Next, what they prophesy must never contradict that Jesus is the Son of God and the Savior of the earth. And then last, a person's fruits are what they
repeatedly do. When working for God. Profits should generally demonstrate a Christ like character. I totally feel like I could be a fake Prophet and pass all of these tests. Yeah,
I'm thinking I need to come up with some better tests, right?
