Music. Welcome to denim wrapped nightmares, Tipsy exchange Podcast where we explore the supernatural series, episode by episode, over
drinks, we'll discuss the lore the gore and what we adore about the Winchesters and their adventures.
I'm Burleigh and I'm a new fan of the series.
I'm LA, and I'm here along for the ride. Now let's get
tipsy. Hello, LA,
hello, burly.
I'm still recovering. I think,
well, I feel like I'm barely here from last week. Yeah, tired.
No, I met Sam Winchester.
Oh,
what are you talking about?
Just lack of sleep. Oh,
is it because you were up, tossing and turning, thinking about Sam Winchester and
tell yes, yes, yes. Oh, speaking of that, the last episode was, what was it Hell House and Sam and Dean, they find this haunted house and discover this website with this lore about Mordecai, and he killed his daughters there, and now he's the one haunting it, but they basically end up realizing it's a Tulpa, and just all these people that are reading this Story are creating the spirit that's haunting the house. So Sam and D kind of try to change the storyline. Doesn't
work out too well for them. But of course, they they kill them in the end and save the day. So
it was cute. I really liked it. Yeah, I really liked this week's episode too. Yes, we got a got a few good ones in a row here. Yeah, now we're gonna recap this week's episode, which is called something wicked. So we open up in a house where there's a little girl on her knees saying her bedtime prayers, and her dad comes in to tuck her into bed. Already we know something's off because he calls her monkey puss. Yeah, I did not care for that weird
monkey. Puss, good night. Monkey puss, as he's saying, Good night to her. They kind of have a conversation. And we find out that the mom is staying overnight at the hospital
because her sister is sick. We see this tree outside tapping up against the window after the dad turns off the light and closes the bedroom door, and the little girl sits up, and she's kind of scared, and then the branches, you have to look for it, but the branches kind of start to turn into this really long fingered, creepy hand that comes out toward the window. Something comes in and attacks the little
girl in her bed. It's this figure in this shadowy robe thing, and it opens its mouth and it glows and kind of hisses, and the little girl screams. And we see from the outside of the house that the windows are closed. Then we cut to our boys, the Winchesters, Sam and Dean, they're in the Impala, driving down the highway, and they are going to Fitchburg, Wisconsin, not Pittsburgh, correct? I thought they said Pittsburgh at
first. I was like, there's a Pittsburgh in Wisconsin, which you never know there's a Paris in Texas, true. So I thought they said Pittsburgh at first, but it's Fitchburg with an F and apparently daddy Winchester sent these coordinates to Sam and Dean, so he's sending them a case to go work.
Sam's not convinced.
Sam's kind of pissed off. He's like, I've looked everywhere I can. I think he even said, like, LexisNexis or something. Wasn't that a research site that we could use when we were in college? What I don't remember, I'm saying, Yeah, because I was I heard it and I was thinking. I was like, Why have I heard that before? And I think that's what it was, that it was a research site, oh, for academic papers or something. I'm not sure, okay, but basically, Sam's saying, I've fucking looked everywhere.
There's nothing, there's nothing. I don't know why we're going. Dean is just being good soldier. We've been sent these coordinates. We've been asked to go do this. So we're going, they pull over and they get out of the car, and Sam kind of starts looking around, and he asks, What time is it? And Dean says, I think he said it was four. It's late, late in the afternoon. And Sam kind of comments, so schools, schools should be out. Like, what's wrong with this picture?
And looking at a playground, right?
And there's one kid, yeah, Dean comments, it should be, this place should be crawling with kids. What's up? So he goes over and talks to a mom who's sitting at the playground, presumably the kid's mom, and basically is like, what the fuck is going on? Where are all the kids? And the mom says, well, parents are scared. There's been five or six kids that have gotten sick. It's catching on, you know, people are scared, so they're keeping their kids at home. Mm.
She's like, not me. We're out. We're out and about. Well, there's
nobody at the lake around for her kid to get sick. I would have done it too. Okay, she
didn't know that. Go in there.
Just kidding. So Sam and Dean have a lead now. They decide to go to the hospital and claim to be from the CDC for this outbreak. That's happening even though it's only five to six kids. I don't know if a CDC would show up for that. Yeah, but whatever. Not my rodeo, not my not my thing. And they have new suits. Yes, it's not just the Men in Black. Yeah, it's not just the Men in Black, Black Tie anymore. They are in new suits, new shirt, new tie. Look at they
look really good. And as they're walking into the hospital, Sam's kind of bitching because he has this ID that says bikini inspector on it. Dean gets a crack like, crack it up about it. And kind of spins Sam to the desk to ask the nurse to go to the pediatric ward. And he's like, she probably won't even look at it. She definitely asked to look at it. Of course she did. So Sam flashes it very quickly, and she tells them where the pediatric award is.
And on their way to the pediatric ward, they pass this one room where this this old woman sitting in a wheelchair, and she just looks grumpy, yeah, I don't know, creepy, definitely angry, not approachable. I'll put it that, yeah, yeah. She doesn't look very approachable at all, definitely. And they make it a point to show that there's an upside down crucifix on her wall. And Dean is staring in here, kind of like, What the fuck? And then Sam says, Hey, come on, let's go. So they just
move past that. We'll come back to that later. They go to the pediatric ward and they meet Dr Heidecker, I don't like his hair. I don't like him. I didn't like him right off the bat. He just No, I didn't care for him. And maybe that makes me shallow, but I think it just means I have good intuition. Yeah, there you go. So, Dr Heidecker is explaining that they've all gotten pneumonia, that their he said, like, their white cell
count is down. And basically, he said their bodies aren't doing what they're supposed to do in order to heal and get better. They're just all in comas. They're like, wearing down. Their bodies are wearing down. Yeah. And this nurse comes over and comments on how it's spreading. Is unlike anything she's seen before. Sam and Dean are like, What are you talking about? And she says it affects one sibling and then the other sibling, yeah. She's
like, it's going by family, yeah, family by family,
which is weird. They ask if they can talk to the parents, because they can't talk to the kids. They're not conscious. And they talk to Mr. Monkey puss, because he's sitting there out in the hall. So they go talk to monkey puss, and he's obviously distraught. Yeah, he's he's upset. He looks exhausted. He answers their questions, but he's basically just like, you know, I just, I want to go see
my daughter. Leave me alone. So they watch him walk off, and Sam brings up a point of, I know one thing, that he's not going to be home anytime soon. They know the mom is at the hospital, the dad is at the hospital, the two kids are at the hospital. The house is sitting there empty, and nobody's going to be going home anytime soon. So what are those Winchesters do? Head on over good old B and E, yep. So they're in the house looking around. Sam has a blue light.
He's not checking for semen. I don't know what he's checking for, yeah, or black light. That's what, yeah, isn't it? Black Light? I think so who knows what he's looking for. And say, and Dean is looking for stuff too. I think he had the EMF. Dean had the EMF out. Sam's got the black light out. They
aren't finding nothing. Yeah. And then Sam goes over and checks the window, because everybody's been saying that the kids have had open windows when this thing has happened, which, by the way, you don't catch pneumonia from just having an open window, right? I
mean, like, that old saying, like, if they went to bed with their head wet, they're gonna get sick if, like, the windows open, or something like that. I feel like
you have to already be getting sick for something like that to push you over the edge. Yeah, true. I don't think you're just gonna get sick from having a window open, gonna get cold. They kept talking about this, like the window being open causing pneumonia. I was just like, does it? Though I feel like that's an old wives tale. Yeah. Anyway, Sam goes to the window, and he opens it, and there's this creepy fucking handprint from the long fingered thing on the window sill where it rotted the
wood, yeah. Also, I was as we were watching that part, I was like, how did that dad not notice that when he, like, he went over, he said he he went to the window and closed it, right? He
said, He made sure it was closed before he, like, tucked her in. Okay, all right, all right. But like I said, they showed that the window was closed when she was screaming. So I guess the the monster thing opened the window to leave, and so when the dad came in, that's when the window must have been open, because it was closed when she got attacked. So I don't know how it got in. And it was closed when Dean and Sam were in the room. Yeah, I think it was closed. Now I'm questioning it
was he opened. It Okay? Well, it was closed when Sam and Dean were there. I'm saying I think it was closed when she screamed, like, I'm pretty sure when I don't remember that, when it showed the shot from outside the house, I'm pretty sure the window was closed. But it doesn't really matter. Yeah, this show plays it fast and loose with whether it's day or night time and how many hours it takes to get from one place to the other. We don't need to
speculate on that too much. Dean comes over and looks at the handprint, and he has seen this handprint before. So this triggers a flashback, and we finally get to see young Dean and Sam. They're in a hotel room, motel room, and John Winchester is there. So we get to see Jeffrey Dean Morgan, and they've made him look younger. They've had them all clean shaven, and his hair is darker and everything. He's basically going over rules with Dean about what to do, what not to do while
he's gone. He didn't say how long he was going to be gone, but it seemed like he was going to be gone at least overnight, yeah, if not longer. With the way he was talking to Dean and Sam, and as he was collecting his things to go on the hunting trip. One of the things that was out on the table was a picture of a handprint, just like what Sam found on the windowsill. They kind of figure it out that their dad, John Winchester, must have been hunting the same thing
at one point. And so they kind of figure out, okay, well, he must have sent us here to finish the job, because he didn't finish it, and Sam kind of comments on why didn't he finish it? What would have happened? But it's just kind of left there that who knows, but for whatever reason, it didn't get done. So we're here to finish the job. We love Jeffrey Dean Morgan, yeah, but John Winchester was a shitty dad, yeah, he wasn't a great
dad. He wasn't a good dad. So we just definitely LA and I have gotten very excited every time Jeffrey Dean Morgan's been on the show. So after this episode, I feel the need to clarify with our audience and with myself, that who we love is Jeffrey Dean Morgan. Yeah, John Winchester was not a good father. Yeah. He was a pretty father. True, true, true, but not a good one. Yeah?
I mean, he loved him, but he was just a little preoccupied with what he was after, yes,
yeah, and he may have done the best he could, yeah. Doesn't mean that it was good, yeah. I mean, his, his, at least one of his sons, had no childhood whatsoever, yeah, which is very sad. Cut back to present time. We're with Sam and Dean, and they have pulled up to a motel, and Dean explains that what they are looking for is a type of witch called uh shriga Striga. Striga Striga Striga, called a Striga Dean, goes into the motel and is talking to this little boy who's manning the
front desk. And little boy asks, okay, you want a room? Do you want a king or two queens? And Dean says, Two queens. And the little boy goes, Yeah, I bet. Well, he
looked out and saw Sam, and then looked back at him. He was like, I bet
you guys. So I love this kid already. He's fucking hilarious. His name's Michael, and he is just a smart mouth little shit. And those are the best those are the best kids. They're also why I don't want to have kids, but that's neither here nor there. They're the best to hang out with for just a short period of time and then send them home to whoever owns them. Owns them. Sorry. I meant, you know what I mean? I know I
do. I gotcha. So Michael's mom comes over while he's helping Dean and makes a joke about, go help. Go feed your brother or something before you do any more damage. And so she finishes checking out Dean, and we see that they're still doing the credit card scam. Dean pulls out some credit card that doesn't have their name on it. Obviously, Dean kind of looks past the mom, and you can see their little living area that's
in the motel. And he sees Michael making dinner for his little brother, yeah, which triggers another flashback to Dean making brother for Sam when they were left all alone at a motel. Yeah, Dean sacrifices his own desire to eat the Lucky Charms. He's a good dad to give them to Sam. He was a good dad, especially for like a 10 year old kid. Yeah, and Sam tried to be nice. And do you want the prize? Yeah? And I, like, wanted to be like, No, Sam, he fucking wanted the Lucky Charms. Yeah,
he was hungry. Also. I was like, I was like, Dean, why don't you eat the spaghetti? Owes if you're hungry. Like, he just dumped him out. He just waste
Okay, so maybe he wasn't as good of a dad, but more a 10 year old. He
was like a dad. He's look he, that was what Dad told him, most important look after Sammy. Yep, Sam's a priority.
We come back to present day, and we're in the motel room. They got their two queens, and Sam is researching the strika. Yeah. Have to say it like the voy Striga. And he confirms that Dean was right. They talk about the witch. They say it's usually in the form of an old woman, and that maybe that's where, like witches being the old crone, or whatever came from, is from the Striga things, and that they feed on Spiritus vitae, or like breath of life. And Sam says, but there's no way
to kill it. I don't see any way to kill it, but Dean has it memorized how to kill this thing, that you have to have these special bullets and that it's only vulnerable when it's feeding. And he knows it off the top of his head. And So Sam is kind of like, how did you know that? And Dean is, well, it's in dad's journal, like, I know this. And Dean's acting kind of weird. He hasn't been acting particularly normal since they found the handprint at the
house. They decide, well, there was that old woman at the hospital, and at first, Sam kind of makes a smart ass comment, of like, oh yeah, an old person at a hospital. How weird. But Dean says, well, there was an upside down crucifix in their room, so we should go check it out. So they decide to go check it out. And they sneak into her room, and she's sleeping with her peepers open as she said, Yeah. And she scares the hell out of them when she suddenly is like,
Hey, who's in here? Because they were getting really close in her personal space, to be honest, whether she was sleeping or not, yeah,
I didn't really understand what they were doing.
I guess they were trying to verify. Is she the witch? Who knows? But she basically said, you know, fix that crucifix. I've been asking for that to been be fixed for like, five days now, or something like that. They decided the grumpy old woman is not the witch, and go back to the motel. Meanwhile, we see Michael and Asher sleeping in their rooms, and that same creepy hand starts to creep into the window the next morning, Sam and Dean are
walking out of the motel. Sam is still laughing about Dean almost shooting an old woman for no reason, just because she startled them, but Dean looks over and sees Michael, and can tell he's not happy. So they go over to check on Michael, and he explains that his little brother got sick, and he's feeling like he's at fault because the window was open, and just like Dean Michael feels like it's his responsibility to take care of
his baby brother. So they're trying to talk to Michael and make him feel better when his mom comes out and she's flustered and throwing shit in the car, telling Michael, turn on the no vacancy, so people aren't trying to come and get a room and what have you lock up. You don't need to worry about room service. You don't need to worry about anything. Just stay here. You can't come with me. Dean actually offers to drive her to the hospital, which she
accepts. But before leaving, Dean looks at Sam and is like, we're gonna have to go kill this thing. We're gonna have to figure this out. While Dean is at the hospital, Sam goes to the library to do some more research
on the witch. And he's going through articles and finds out that since the 1890s every 15 to 20 years, this same thing has happened in multiple cities, and he finds pictures of people in a hospital where this outbreak occurred, and one of the doctors happens to be Dr Heidecker, which doesn't sound weird until Sam points out that the picture is from the year 1893 they know who their street, Striga is now, right after Dean hangs up the phone, Dr Heidecker and his audacity come over to have a
conversation and talk about how, oh yeah, we're doing everything we can trying to help them. It's just such a shame, and Dean is totally having to keep his anger in check and not kill him right then and there. When he gets back to the hotel, he says that he didn't have his gun on him, which was fortunate, because he doesn't know that he wouldn't have been able to shoot him and kill him right there. So now they're talking about, how are we going to get this thing? Basically, Dean suggests that
they use Michael as bait. Sam doesn't like it, but they can't think of any other plan as to when they're going to know exactly where this thing is going to be and when it will be potentially be feeding so that they can actually use these special iron consecrated bullets in order to kill the witch. Yeah, which,
I mean, they, they have, they're already know that he's an ex, so it's like, even if they aren't using him for bait, like it's gonna happen. I
remember when Sam was like, That's a terrible plan. You were like, That's a perfect plan.
I mean, he's coming anyway.
It's gonna happen anyway. Yeah, may as well use it to your advantage, right? Well, while they're having their little debate about this whole thing. Dean says something passively about how, like, I'm not going to screw up again, or something like that. And Sam is just kind of looks at him, thinking, What the fuck? What are you talking
about? And so Dean finally explains that he remembers when their dad hunted this monster before he didn't just happen to have all this shit memorized like he remembers this clearly. And it turns out that the Striga attacked Sam one night where Dean was responsible for watching him. Dean had stepped out of the motel room to go play video games after Sam had gone to bed, and when he came back, the Striga was there about to feed on Sam. So Dean feels responsible for the fact that
that streak I got in there. But poor little Dean, even if you were there, it could have happened. It's happened in all these other houses, and their sibling was right there. The two little girls, they shared the same room, yeah,
well, and so did Michael and his little brother, right? Yeah. Even
if you were there, this could have happened, but now we find out why Dean's been acting kind of off the whole episode. It's guilt and all of this. And also their dad got there just in the nick of time in the flashback and shot the witch, but it didn't do the job. Apparently, he got scolded by John Winchester, in addition to already probably feeling like, Shit, yeah, he got scolded basically, like, where the fuck were you? I told you to watch him and John Winchester being
dad of the year again. So we got that flashback
well, and Dean also feels guilty now that, like it's because of him, what he did, that all these kids are sick now. Oh, I
didn't think of that. Yeah, he
didn't get the like, he's the one that blew it, which, I mean, not really dad, yeah. Dad should have had the right bullets,
yeah. Oh, Dean did pick up the gun, and I think he he froze. That's what it was, yeah, busted. And then dad busted in, yeah? So maybe that's what it was. Whenever Dean picked up the gun, the Striga was feeding and Dean could have you didn't have the iron concentrated attacks in that gun. Yeah, Dean, come on. Just one hug, Dean, and just tell him, that's your fault. I know. Take off your pants. Okay, they decide to let Michael in on the plan, and that's kind of their, I guess, compromise that
Sam doesn't like the plan. Dean thinks it's the only plan. Let's actually talk to Michael, and if he's willing to do it, we'll do it. So they go have a conversation with him, let him know what's going on. And at first he's like, fuck, you know, I don't know what y'all are talking about. But then he comes to their motel room after they've talked, and knocks on the door and asks them, if I do this, will my baby brother get better? And they're honest with him, they tell him, we honest.
We don't know. We don't know if he's going to get better or not. So Michael decides if there's a chance it's worth it, and so he agrees to do it. That night, they're all in the bedroom, in Michael's bedroom, and getting him ready for bed and kind of preparing him for everything. And I thought this scene was really cute. And I love that actor who played Michael. I
loved that little kid. And he was asking, you know, or Dean was telling him how the guns were going to be loud and cover his ears, and as soon as, as soon as they came in the door to roll on, off the bed, get under the bed, cover your ears. And kid was a little more concerned about getting shot than being concerned about the witch coming, which I thought was kind of cute. He was really nervous about the fact that they were going to be shooting. I mean, I would be too, especially at
my bed, right? So
they set up kind of a nanny cam thing so they could keep an eye on Michael from another room, so the Striga would think that Michael was home alone. And sure enough, at the witching hour, 3am the shrigas Creepy hands come back into the picture, and it opens the window and it goes in, and Sam's like, let's go. And Dean's like, No, we have to wait. We have to wait until he's feeding
before we can go in. And so Michael sit is awake and sees this thing coming at him, which kudos to him for not running.
Oh, my god, yeah,
I would have fucking got the hell out of there even though I knew the plan. Yeah. So the witch comes over and it puts its hands, its creepy long fingers on Michael, and it opens its mouth, and the white light starts glowing. Then Sam and Dean come busting in, kick the door open, shoot the witch. Michael rolls under the bed, just like he was supposed to. He's down there. But it just all
seemed too simple. Yeah, and even though I straight up fucking said that when we were watching the show, this seemed too easy. It still scared the shit out of me. Whenever that witch jumped up and grabbed Dean, I was like, Oh, I was not ready. I was not prepared. So the witch attacks Dean, kind of throws him in the corner. Sam is kind of shooting him. So the witch goes for Sam. Sam, and tackles Sam down and starts trying feeding on Sam, actively
feeding on Sam. So not only has the little white light shining in its mouth, but you can see the breath of life coming from Sam and into the witch. And I guess that's what they needed to wait for. Yeah, because this time when Dean shoots the witch right in the fucking forehead. It does the job. The witch is done, but Dean still shoots it a few more times just to make sure I like it. They check on Michael. They're like, Are you cool? And he says, yes, and he's obviously a little shaken, but
he's okay. And he kinds and goes and stands next to them, and Dean, like, puts his hand on his shoulder, and the way he looked up at Dean, just like, You're my hero. Yeah, I know they've done a prequel series, LA, and I haven't started it yet, because we don't want to get confused between the two storylines and the shows and whatnot, but I think it would be such a cute sequel or not? Yeah, sequel series. If Michael grew up to be a hunter? Yeah? Maybe his baby brother's a hunter with him too.
Oh, because he definitely just the way he was looking at Dean. It totally made me think, like, Oh, He idolizes him now.
Oh, yeah.
So the next morning, Sam and Dean are packing up the Impala, and Michael's mother shows up and is talking about how Asher, this is the younger brother. I haven't said his name, the whole episode has just made a recovery, that it's a miracle. The doctors have no idea what happened, but he's better. And asks if Michael wants to go to the hospital to visit the brother. And Michael's, of course, excited to do it. And as she's talking more
about hospital stuff. She says something about Dr Travis said the other kids are expected to make a full recovery too. And of course, Sam and Dean are kind of looking at each other, and they're like, oh, what? What happened to Dr Heidecker, playing it cool, like they don't know. And she just says, I don't know he wasn't there today. He must be sick or something, but we all know he did. He dead. I wonder what they did with the body.
It looked like it like disintegrated. Oh, did it? I didn't know a little bit. Maybe they just swept them up, put them in a trash bag.
As they're leaving, Sam says that he feels sad that Michael's innocence is kind of gone. Now he's going to know that monsters are real, that there are things to be afraid of in the dark, and that he wishes they hadn't done that. And then he says, You know, sometimes I wish I still had that innocence. And Dean looks at him as like sometimes I wish you still did too, which just kind of lets us know that to Dean, it's still more important to him, for Sam to be okay than it is for
himself, good dad. He's still being that good dad. They get in the Impala and Jared paddle, Lucky's legs are bent so much that his knee is like over the door, his long legs, and they drive off. And that was the end of something wicked. I really enjoyed this episode. Yeah, it was good. I liked this one a lot. No gore. I had a couple of jump scares from me the old woman, a little bit. But definitely when the witch came back to life, that scared, that definitely jumped scared me big
time. Getting some backstory, yeah, understanding a little bit more where Dean's coming from, the protective verging on possessiveness that he has with Sam, kind of understanding where that comes from. Yeah, and you were happy to not have any more weird tension, yeah.
Well, what there was, like, one scene where, I think Sam saying something like sweet to him, and he's like, Oh God, please no. And I was like, Oh, that you can't handle. But that awkward, romantic, sexual tension scene that what you were okay with because you started that conversation so weird.
So on to the war. Tell us. I mean, they explained it pretty, pretty well. But tell us a little bit more about this Striga. Yeah,
I got a little more background on it that it says. So this was like from an article about the Witcher. Actually, they had a Striga in their season, one of their seasons, but this one says that the Striga is a blood sucking humanoid witch who drinks drinks from children while they sleep. It comes from the Romanians. It's Striga. It's probably pronounced different, but and the Polish strizga, the Polish version, makes her a full on
demon. The Albanian and Romanian descriptions, they go a little closer to like a witch monster, but she's, they say she's kind of similar to a vampire, and she only, but she doesn't turn into a bat. She turns into an insect. No, which one? It doesn't say, no, but I'd be curious. No, I don't like bugs. Uh, she's a shape shifter. And they, Oh, all, everything I saw, they refer to her as a she. So I thought that was interesting, that they chose. To make it a male on their episode,
equality, Yeah, cheers. They're
often they keep their human forms during the day and transform into their vampiric type form at night, which we saw that, right? Yeah, the
long fingers, very creepy. And
it does say that they tend to move through whole families taking their life essence until they're all dead, and those children who were fed on off of become comatose and vulnerable to other diseases. And there, there is a cure that can only come from the Striga, and it is that she has to spit in the open mouth of the sick child, and that's how she can cure him. I'm
happy they didn't do that. Me
too disgusting. I'm
happy they went another route with that. Yeah,
it says that it was formed when an unborn child lives and its mother dies during birth, lovely God, the infant grows to continues to grow and gradually becomes an angry killing machine. And this one kind of is more on the Polish side and the Scandinavian, it says the Polish poronics and the Scandinavian mylings. So these are all different kind of takes on it. But these unfortunate children haunt the lives and homes of those who have been the closest
to them. They hate those who were a part of their lives and the lives that they should they felt they should have had. So they're bitter. Mother, damn, yeah. Oh, on Wikipedia, they said that she's often pictured as a woman with a hateful stare, sometimes wearing a cape, but she has a horribly disfigured face, which I was like, Well, I feel like that lady could have been the grumpy lady on the verge of looking like that. Yeah, it
was definitely a misdirect, for sure. Yeah,
oh yeah. Because I was like, Oh, they got her. There she is. She fit the fit the bill. Right
off the bat with like, the first 510 minutes of the episode, there she is. Another
ones describes her as an older, middle aged woman with gray, pale green or pale blue eyes. They really tried to trick us here this episode. Good thing. We
didn't do this research ahead of time, right? And
they have usually have a crooked nose. Their stare would make people uncomfortable, and people would avoid looking at them directly in their eye, because they had the evil eye. Now they
definitely made the old woman, the grumpy old woman, look exactly like what a Striga, yeah, is described to look like. So yeah, I like that. They misdirected it, though, and ended up having it be this kind of hoity, toity, white man who needed an updated hairstyle,
maybe a tan. Yeah. Hey,
I'm fair too. Oh, God, hello. So am I? I
always say my legs could glow in
the dark. Mine do. Oh,
so this one, it says that to ward off the witch, people could take a pinch of salt in their fingers and touch their closed eyes, mouth, heart and the opposite part of their heart and the pit of their stomach and then throw the salt in direct flames. And there's a saying, I'm gonna ruin this, but it's sta i dalson, sit i placen, or just wish whisper it three to six times without the salt. No, as you're like throwing it in the flames, I guess
salt and fire seem to be really important, right? Wonder what that's about. I
don't know. There were other there are other ways that you could kind of defend yourself. I don't know why I'm laughing. A cross made of pig bone could be placed at the entrance of a church on Easter Sunday, rendering that the Street guy was unable to come inside or leave if they caught it in there, I guess, Oh, nice. But if they did catch them, they could be killed at the threshold, as they like, vainly try to attempt to leave. I guess that's kind of
the vulnerable part of it. I guess in this one after that, draining the blood from a victim, the street Striga. Well, okay, so then another way she kills them is she drains their blood, and she would generally go off into the woods and regurgitate it.
That's how that's what a Striga would do, yeah. Oh,
if a silver coin were to be soaked in that blood and wrapped in cloth, it would become an amulet offering permanent protection from the Striga.
So you'd have to follow the Striga in the forge, watch her vomit up all the blood and then go put a coin in it,
I guess that. Or yeah, yeah, because she drains the victim of the blood, yeah, I don't know. Man. In Catholic legends, it said that the Striga can be destroyed using holy water with a cross in it. Islamic myth, it says that she can be sent away or killed by rectifying verses from the Quran and spitting water on the street itself, lots of um, spitting and regurgitation. And makes
me wonder, how you consecrate those iron bullets. Were they ConSec. Created with spit and blood. And yeah, because they didn't say how the iron bullets got consecrated. Oh, but
yeah, that was it. It's been in a bunch of stuff TV wise, obviously in Witcher and this. But yeah, that's what I found about the lovely strigas.
Nice. Yeah, good stuff.
Interesting. Spit in my mouth. Please save me.
Just spit right here. So to close out the episode, we have a quote After Sam figures out Dr Heidecker is the witch and they're he's on the phone telling Dean about it. He says, should have thought of this before a doctor is the perfect disguise. You're trusted. You can control the whole thing.
That son of a bitch is what Dean says.
Cheers. Thank you for listening to denim wrapped nightmares.
