Welcome to denim wrapped nightmares tipsy exchange Podcast where we explore the supernatural series, episode by episode.
over drinks, we'll discuss the lore of gore and what we adore about the Winchesters and their adventures.
I'm burly, and I'm a new fan of the series.
I'm LA, and I'm here along for the ride. Now, let's get tipsy.
Hello, la.
Hello, Burley.
We are near the end.
I know I can't believe it.
I'm excited.
It's been a journey already.
I had to Google when the character that caught my eye and got us into this whole thing to begin with. I had to Google when he makes a big introduction. Because I didn't see it. Season Four, right.
Yeah, season four and a ways to go.
We've got a ways to go but one down true. One down two to go. And then the floodgates will open and I don't mean my eyes.
No. Oh my god. Yeah,
he's gorgeous. You'll you'll see you'll see.
I don't know those other. I mean, you were real on Jensen and so he looks real. Yeah, you're really cute. Just, she's just pretty bad. He's he is very pregnant. Those eyes lips got a good nose. His lips are amazing. That jaw line chair. All these cleft chins everywhere that had a hair. Mm hmm. Looks built well. Yeah, I get it. Yeah. We're warming up. We're both sitting here at the moment. We had to sit in that for a second. We got to talk about last week's episode.
Yes. So last week felt like a finale like we knew it was leading up to the big shebang or what have you. Right. And now we have the last two episodes, which are really a two part finale. So very excited to get into these but last week's episode, dead man's blood. We met vampires. Vampires were brought into the world of supernatural but you know what? It's about fucking time. Right? We've dealt with a lot of vengeful spirits this season. So
far. I'm not complaining. No, there have been good episodes. Yeah, but it's about it's about time vampires made an appearance. We've heard werewolves mentioned. But I don't think we've met one yet. Right. And we got some vampires. And it opened up with a vampire hunter named Daniel Elkins, who turns out as a friend of John Winchester, and he has a magical gun that can kill anybody. And these vampires steal the gun. So Sam and Dean go to check out the
guys lodge see what happens. And that's when Daddy Winchester shows up and explains to them that vampires are real. That's who killed this guy. And it turns out, he has this wonderful gun that I really need to get a hold of, because that's what I'm going to use to kill this fucking demon that we've been chasing all season long. So Sam and Dean helped their dad. And he's trying to keep them at a distance. And there's tension, and there's arguing. Can't do it anymore, daddy. And that's by
the end of it. He's finally like, you're all right. We're stronger. Together. We're gonna hunt this demon down as a family. Yes. That was that. That's my quick recap of dead man's blood.
All right. There's a pretty good one. Yeah, we're, we never say it's bad.
I would say the last three episodes were more intense more intense. Yeah. You know, like, you know that the stakes are getting higher. And these next two are even more. Oh my gosh, I like I know I slapped you like, like slapping your shoulder more than once in these last two episodes, which we did in depth watching them back to back we couldn't we couldn't wait.
So forgive me at least because I am. I got a little sleepy. Not that it wasn't good by any means. But like, we just weren't planning to watch two in a row that and I haven't eaten in a while we've been drinking.
That's how the show goes. And as a tipsy tipsy episode bear with me because I didn't take any notes. Hardly.
I know well, and I was like, Well,
I'm worried about that. I was too invested in the show.
I'm like, you may have to carry me through this. And maybe vice versa.
Because you took a lot of good notes. I was too invested in the show. I was like what is happening? I need to rewind again. Look at Jensen's lips. Oh my god okay, so recap for us this week's episode Yeah, salvation let's get into salvation. Salvation look looking at the comments. I made a few I can't remember all of them like I said I didn't write shit down. Well,
I will say though I did I set a pretty bad one in I forget the episode with Sarah. The in the family in the painting. Yes. And I forget what he was doing something and I was like sit on his face. Oh my god. Okay.
I bet Mrs. Paddle like he was happy as long as Bang. Bright.
Yeah, she's. Yes. Good for her. Okay, anyway,
okay, this episode sorry salivation no salvage Salvation.
All right, we are in Blue Earth Minnesota, which we didn't look at. That's a real place. I feel like it's not.
I imagine it has to be okay. But names too good to have made up.
Well, Annie, who we are in Blue Earth, Minnesota, and we see a priest at his church. And sassy little Meg starts walking in. I love her and her hair. Her little pixie cuts grown out a little. And she's still sassy as ever. She goes in and tells the priests she has to she needs to talk to him and I can't remember the conversation. But it's basically like she was talking to some guy and it was like this, you know, just talking and it was so great. And she closes her eyes real fast and the black
demonize, come out. Yes. And he's like, I know what you are.
She looked fabulous. I know that it meant she was evil, but I thought she looked cool as hell. She
played it so good. She's
such a good actress episode.
Yeah. So yeah, he's like, I know what you are. And he starts kind of taking off running away from her and goes into this back room. That's just once she busts she busts down the door to the room and it's this room just covered in rooms and all kinds of like what like what are the safety things like assault on the ground
vigils? entryway? Yeah, he opens like chest has all these badass weapons. Arsenal. Yeah, it's like holy shit. Yeah, Hunter. Yeah.
And which I thought in the beginning that the my first thing thinking was, she's a demon. How the hell she walking into this church? But I think he even made a mention of that. She was like, Oh, you think you think that's the kind of demon I am? She's like, Oh, no, honey. Yeah, I'm here. Yeah. And ain't no big deal. She's a badass.
Yeah, um, she came down the stairs like, kicked open the door. I mean, just,
she was like this hallowed ground don't mean shit to me.
She makes being bad look good. She really does so good.
And he's there, he throws this knife at her. And the knife has the little sigils and like safety stuff on it. And she catches it right by her face, tells him he he throws like a girl. She ends up slicing his neck killing him, which tends to be a theme in the soaps.
Yeah, she likes she likes cutting them. Next she that's her. That's her go to move.
Then we're back in Manning, Colorado. And John is sharing his research of the last 20 years that he's kind of found out about the demon that killed her mother and everything. And he explains that the trail He's followed and the telltale signs and Sam. Like he basically says, what he's discovered is that this demon, Hans van, or like, attaches itself to families, and especially ones that have
newborn babies. And then by the time their baby is six months old, like that same day, he comes for the baby, and kills I guess the mom really? And yeah, instance. So then Sam, of course, is like, oh, so I was six months old when this happened to mom, right? And they're like, yeah, and of course, he feels this guilt. Like it had anything to do with what he could have done about it. You know, he wasn't luck, maybe. Which also, by the way, doesn't really explain just his death.
Yeah, where's the baby there? There's
no baby there, but she still died in the same way.
Well, maybe he's still planning to use SAM somehow. Because didn't didn't they say like she was in the way. Oh, did they maybe they didn't want him to get married and live happily ever after? Or maybe they wanted him to go with Dean be
vulnerable. Anyhow, so he starts to go down that rabbit hole, or it was all my fault. But John and Dean are like none and no, but no guy. We're not going down that whole road. He tells them that he also discovered that right before these events happen. There are weather changes, electrical issues in the house are like lights flickering, there's electrical storms that happen and each of these areas where he has found that the same thing has happened to what happened to
them and their family. And he says that he's been tracking it and he has said that all of these things have started to happen in salvation Iowa. So that's where they are headed.
That's what I really also do.
On the road, they there we see them driving and John pulls over in his badass truck by the way, with the Gago gadget trunk, yes. And he tells them that he learned that Pastor Jim Murphy has been killed. And he says it's probably by demons because it seems to be a trend lately. It's what's going on.
Also quick note, I when I heard him say the name I went pastor Jim, where do we know that before? And the episode some thing wicked, where they do the flashback to Dean and Sam and a hotel room before the before John leaves to go hunt the witch. He is like giving him the rundown making sure he knows what to do. And I can't remember exactly what it was. But it was like if something goes wrong call pastor Jim. So this was a close family friend that John trusted with his babies. Yeah.
And he seems pretty upset. And he's always which I mean, that's obviously the guy we saw in the beginning. Yeah.
With Meg. Meg, dammit, Meg.
And now that he's realized this has happened, he feels even more pressure John does to find the next family on this demons list. And, you know, stop it before it happens.
He made us like said something about how he's always one step behind or something like, right.
And he's like, This ends now. Like, I'm ending it. I don't care what it takes like this can't keep happening. His friends are dying at this point because of it. Because there's so much to kind of tackle in and I think John basically tells them like we we've got to split up because we've got to cover so many things in such a short amount of time. Since all these things are already happening. They know what's going to happen
in the next few days. So Sam leaves and he heads to medical that I think salmon is it Sam and Dean both go to hospitals.
I thought all three of them did do their I've got I think all three of them because
John says they need to find out how like all the babies in this area are gonna turn six months old within a week's time. Yeah. Which I'm like, Yeah, waltzing into a hospital, and they're gonna give you that information.
They're all in like their flannels and their jackets and their jeans. And then they like put a little badge on like
just a little clip badge. I'm like, really? You don't want to clean yourself up a little bit, but not first. Dean had
his badge like badge badge. True. And Sam, we didn't see him flash your badge. But the woman came around and was like, let us know if you need anything like here. All these files you asked for? Yeah, let us let us know if you need anything else. Officer. I would have been like, do you want to shower? Yeah. His hoodie and his jacket. I was like, Why does everyone believe that? Whatever. Yeah, whatever. That's neither here nor there.
It's just funny to me how they like get away with all this because yeah, like a dean was a little bit of life. Oh, one of the comments. I
did make that I do remember Dean was kind of a creep. Whenever the nurse the hot nurse station was like, Can I do anything for you? And he was like, Well, yes. But I'm working. No, he
was like, Oh, could you? Yeah, and then he's like, but I'm working and she and what did you say you were like, oh, but if she wasn't working? Yeah.
Would you have expected her to just drop on her knees and then I said because I would have
oh my god
she looked like she would have as well she she seemed pleasant. i She seemed pleased with what she was looking. Yeah,
just just say like they have these two hot guys on the show. Like well done. Very good job casting guys. But they also have every fucking episode. There's like some gorgeous girl in it too. Yeah, like just super fit pretty beautiful teeth like well put together.
I don't need any ugly and my supernatural what I'm just saying. Like,
it's like these guys never come along. Like just a plain girl. She just, you know, maybe she's a little like a little tomboyish. Like real life guys, only one
season and maybe there's more true. Really, that's that's what you want your real life. I don't want any real life and supernatural LA.
I mean, it's not real life at all. But I just think it's funny that it's like these two hot guys in every episode. Almost every episode. There's like some hot girl that they're like helping or dealing with. You know, that's totally realized.
That's your complaint.
I have many that's just one but it's not really a complaint. I just think it's funny observation. Yeah. Anywho as we said they were all at hospitals as Sam's leaving one of the hospitals that he was at, which we meant we made note like we haven't seen Sam in the last few episodes have any of his episodes. Yeah,
no visions. You know, telekinesis? I honestly had forgotten about that point. And they daddy doesn't know at this point, right? Oh, so you and I were both like, hey, pot. You know you're so mad that daddy's not telling you everything. Not telling you why this is happening. Why that? You haven't told Dad? You're psychic. Yeah. Also,
did they even mention about the when they went home? And what happened when they went home? Oh, yeah, that family like
Hey, Dad, by the way we saw mom's goes. Yeah, I mean, if daddy knows it's because Missouri told him right.
He's like, You know what Dad's probably like, you know what? I'm not gonna hound them. Like they helped me if he knew. Maybe. But no, I mean, I bet no, but I think we're right. Like it is a little ridiculous. How hard of a time that Sam gives him when he's like, Hey, Sam that yeah, you're leaving things out for him too. So yeah, Sam starts having a vision and it's basically a nursery. You see these flashes of you know, like a little nightlight crib. He
sees the mother in the room. And gorgeous, of course dark hair. And he just happens to like what he goes to like some park or like a trail
he actually gets in his vision a pretty clear shot of the outside of the house. And yeah, he's like, it's almost like he's being drawn there. I felt like yeah, he goes stumbling across the street stumbling across the park. And then all of a sudden he's literally at the house and the moms walking on the sidewalk with the baby.
Okay, I didn't realize is that the house? I thought it was like near the house. He knew she was like walking on some like path.
No, I think that was the house because that's why he stopped and was looking at it because they were looking at the window.
Anyway, so convenient. I can't remember the conversation he has with her. But she basically was like, hey, yes,
you do. Remember, he walked up and he was like, your baby's really beautiful. And she was like, Oh, let me sometimes it's like, Oh, I'm sorry. I remember that. Like
they pan to the baby. And I was like, Oh, she doesn't look like her coloring was off. It was just a little weird. But you were like, Oh, it's cold outside, blah, blah. They're in Vancouver. But yeah, she does mention that. She's like, Oh, she's lovely. But sometimes I just feel like she's looking at me and she knows what I'm saying. She's just such an intuitive baby.
I laughed. I was like, Oh, yeah. Hi. Nice to meet you. Stranger. This is my baby. Isn't she fucking creepy? Basically, that's basically how it went down.
The so the boys all are the boys. I should say the family, our boys family. They all end up back at the hotel. They don't show the conversation necessarily, but it just like starts out that John's pissed that they never told him about Sam's visions, which I mean, come on, guys. There's a lot of contradicting things happening here. But Dean and he's like, he's like, as soon as you found this out. Why didn't you call me You should have called me and needs like the fuck dad. Like
not he didn't say that. But that's what I would have been saying. Right? He's like, I called you so many times. And I want to say he did call him wasn't the time he stopped at the gas station. He was like Sam's like Sam's having a hard time or something like that left him a voicemail.
Well, he kind of went down the list of like, I called you whenever I found Sam. Sam called you when I was in the fucking hospital on my deathbed. Like he went down the list of how many times he's called them. I think what he ended up saying was you answering your phone I have a better chance of winning the lottery.
Yeah. Which that's big for Dean standing up to daddy Big D.
Daddy was like, I don't like this tone. Mm hmm.
But it was like he was like, I just as much as I don't appreciate your tone. He was like I understand. Yeah. As they're having this little altercation Sam's phone rings, and it's she says, little lady says Hey, hello. And he's like, Who is this? She's like, I think you know, and it's our sassy mag. Or sassy demon mag.
We love her.
She's really good. She basically tells Sam that or no, no, she asked Sam to talk to John. And John gets on the phone. She's talking to him and tells him that she has another one of his friends there. Another Hunter, Caleb.
Well, she was basically like, Oh, here's Caleb and Caleb was like, Whoa, hi. I'm here proof of life and then she killed him. It was basically like, Okay, I want the cold if you don't bring it to me, I'm gonna keep finding your friends and I'm gonna keep killing
them. Yeah, cuz like Caleb on the phone was like, Don't do it. Yeah, do anything she asks for and then she just slices his neck again. Just like Pastor whatever. Murphy. So yeah, her endgame is the cult.
The cult? The cult, the cold cult. The gun. She wants the magic gun. John plays
dumb on the phone. And she that's why she killed Caleb because he was like, what? Cool? No, no, he was like, oh, yeah, killing your friends off one by one. Yeah, there'll be more. John agrees to meet her and Lincoln at midnight for the trade off. And the boys say like no handing off the gun. It's like that's gonna be over. We're gonna have nothing. You're like handing over the one thing we need to a demon that we're trying to kill the demon. John decides that okay, you know, I
get it. I get your concern. We're but I'm still gonna go and meet her and give her a gun. They're like, Okay, well, no. And he says he wants to go to an antique store get a gun because they don't know what the hell it looks like. Right? Get an antique fancy old gun handed over to her she'll never know the you know the difference. But as are saying all this John just like basically says again, like he just cannot keep doing this. Like this needs to be their last job. This needs to be done. Get
rid of these demons. Let's kill the one that killed mom. And it's got to be done. He's he's done. He's at the end of his rope.
And you get that sense that John doesn't care if he dies, right? He wants to finish? Yes. And he wants to finish it now. Yes.
He sends Dean off to go get the fake gun. He comes back with a gun that's similar but not as it doesn't have the inscriptions and all that kind of stuff. But again, they don't know what it looks like. So you know, Dean kind of catches on that what John's plan is and he's like, you're not going in there on like a suicide mission. Like don't throw away your life. Like
we need you. And John kind of tells them to do the same he hands over the real cold to them and tells them you know, that they're ones that's gonna have to finish the job because he may not be back to do so. Which I mean it's just come on guys.
Let's just let's be a little positive but anyway so John does meet up with Meg we see him meet up with her when he before he goes he's up on the roof and he the water tank on the top of the roof we see him pull out his rosary and bless all of the water for the whole building. Yeah, I was like oh, well I was I was like what a good idea you've mentioned Constantine Yeah. I
thought he was gonna do the whole Constantine thing with the yeah the spring sprinkler system.
Yeah. But and then we were like who who copied who? Yeah,
Constantine came out in 2005 so did the show yeah, who had the idea first,
but we see him do that and then he goes in and meets mag and then this other guy shows up who we do not know I don't even think we ever caught caught a name.
I know I've no I see there's a name on this recap that we're kind of using to reference they never said no right? I never heard a name.
He shows up talk chatting with Meg and all of a sudden mystery guy shows up and I mean mystery guys pretty good. Like it's pretty hot. Yeah, I didn't mind that. But John hands over the the gun not the gun but the fake hands it to mag She immediately hands it to the sexy sexy guy sexy demon. And he looks at it and just shoots mag. Okay, and she's like your shot me? Yeah,
she was not happy she was
not happy he shot her. But of course she's still just standing there with a bullet in her and they both kind of are well she doesn't realize at the time because she's just pissed he he shot her right but he's like this is a fake because it didn't kill her
and we both thought that sexy demon guy who shot mag was like the big bad
yeah like the one she's been calling and being like yeah let me do this let me do this like the the man in charge right
but spoiler we find out he was now no Ilan just filler just the guy
after they realized against real John books that and runs he runs through this door goes down to hatch leaves the hatch open which human made the comment like what the hell man close the hatch. Yeah know exactly where he went. But John had other plans. He wanted them to follow him. Because unlike what we were thinking with the sprinkler system he was down in I guess like the basement area where all the a lot of pipes Yeah, pipes are and everything. And Megan, what's his name are running
after her after him. And he just pulls he like turns this faucet on to them. And they're like, Oh, what is this? But then the guy steps forward and starts burning. And what does Meg say? She's like, Oh, nice. Nice move. Holy Water.
Yeah, something along those lines. She's a cute, cute. And then John did give a very cute smile before he ran away though. He's sweet know, we know where Sam gets his sassiness from now because John Winchester was very proud of himself.
Really? So you know, he did good. He gets outside eventually in his badass truck all the tires are slashed. Yeah. Flat. I was like get that fixed the flat and you're like it takes it takes too much
time LA.
But I mean, you know, they are pretty quick. But he didn't have time for that. No. He was keeps running. And he's like in this connection of alleyways or whatever. But he ends up getting to a dead end and he can't get out like keeps like Where the hell am I? Whatever. We go back to the boys. They're sitting outside of the what's her name? Rosie's mom's house. Yeah, no, the
I don't I don't remember the mom's name. Yeah. I was his Monica. Monica.
Okay, Monica. So they're sitting outside of the house just like they did when they were back in Lawrence with with the one lady and her kids. And sure enough, the lights are flickering. The wind starts picking up. And they know it's time they run in the dad. Good dad. I mean, he's like, What the hell is my house like
they emasculate the fog. Right away.
Dean like, shoves him up against the wall with a baseball bat to his neck. And he's like, we're trying to help you. Yeah. And he screams was wife that's something's going down and Dean just knocks him out. Yeah. And he picks him up right away. I'm like, Oh, I guess he took him outside. Yeah, I was like, Get get them out of the house out of my way. And Sam runs upstairs. And the demons already there. The wife is there. Monica is going up the wall to the ceiling
already. And Dean rushes in looks and what we've all seen the whole time. It's just a shadowy figure. This time we see the eyes. Yeah, and they are these creepy yellow eyes, demon eyes. They're almost like it's not even like they're a full Iris. It's like it's almost like cracked a little yeah and yellow it was creepy yeah very cool Dean shoots him and he does well actually Dean shoots but the demon disappears I
am Samsung three Dean's outside Sam shoots
but I think before the bullet could even hit the demon he disappears yeah wasted frickin
bullet because we see them again later. Yeah, we know the bullet didn't get them right.
That sucks that they wasted a bullet there but are heated but getting out of breath. I was chatting.
I did think it was sweet when the dad was like screaming upstairs to the wife and Sam was going upstairs. One of the things Sam was yelling to the wife was don't go in the nursery like he was he was trying to get the stay away. Don't go in the nursery. Her instinct though. Yeah,
she's not gonna know go in the nursery. Somebody broke their own joke on the nursery. Leave the baby.
Okay, Ben Dean actually ran in I do remember this because Dean ran in Sam gets the gets the mom gets Monica and Dean came back in to go pick up the baby and I was like, don't want Dean carry the baby. has proven to us. He does not know how to carry a baby. He's
grown up now. He's a grown up man used to hold the head. Yeah, he just
scooped out the entire crib contents and was out. Yeah.
Dads like, thought it was so funny. When they came out. The dads like fist just raised just a little. He's like ready to fight. He's like, hey. It's like he already knocked you out cold man. Like, I don't think you're gonna do much. But good. I mean, she tried. So thankfully, they save Rosie and hit that family. And they run back to the hotel room expecting to you know, meet up with dad. But he's not there. They keep calling him and keep calling him he's not answering D
know something's wrong. Which I'm like, do you because Dad never really answered his phone in general.
But this time they're working as a team La Rue true.
Sam is angry that Dean stopped him from going into the because it will. So as we were outside with the dad fist raise and lady tells them that they saved and they turn around and they see the demon in a window upstairs. And of course Sam was just wanting to run back in and sacrifice himself and go kill the demon. But Dean's not gonna let me hold them back. Well, the
house is on fire. Yeah. As they're back
of the house. I always say hotel but they're always at motels. I gotta stop that.
It's not that big of a deal.
I know. But still. But Sam's pissed. He's like you should have let me get back in there. Kill that demon so we can end it. And Dean's like no, like, I don't get you and dad's like this situation where it's like self sacrifice. Like, what's that going to do? Like, you're literally going to leave me alone. It's going to be me bearing you guys. Like maybe think about that instead of yourself.
Yeah, Dean. I think he even mentioned that he that some days. He barely holds that together. Yeah,
he was like, I'm barely like, I can barely keep it together, like and then the fact that you both are just like, ready to offer yourselves up. And you don't even think about the fact you're kind of leaving me behind. You know, it was that? Yeah, it was I mean, it was a nice moment where Dean kind of like, once again, shows vulnerability, but like voice this time more so than ever, I think, you know,
getting to know these Winchester boys more and more.
Aren't we all just plucked up from our parents, right?
That's everybody's problem. Everybody needs to heal their inner child and forgive their parents. That's what you got a terrible.
Oh, and then I thought this was really interesting. We both pointed this out that Dean mentioned like, you know, like, Mom's gone. She's never coming back dad potentially could be gone right now. And they're not coming back. Like it's just us. And Sam is the one that like, pushes him up against a wall this time is like, Don't you say that? Which is a total reflection of like, one of the first few episodes when they're on the bridge. And like,
do you think that was the pilot? Was it Yeah, I think the same thing. He's
like moms are not coming back. And Dean's the one who like pushed him was like, Don't you say that? It was literally like opposite. There was like a mirrored Yeah. So I thought that was interesting. So once they kind of settle that little argument, Dean tries his dad's phone again. But it's not John the answers. It's our mag mag answers. And she promises that they what they were worried about is that they'll never see their father again. And that's how the episode ends.
Yeah, and it says To be continued. And that's when we decided I guess we're doing two episodes tonight.
We'll see if it ends up being a good idea.
Yeah, it might be a terrible idea. Like I'm already struggling to remember stuff and I didn't I like I said earlier I didn't take very good notes. So I'm going well this will mind that off notes on
so hopefully the next episode like you got the lore here. So hopefully next episode, you're good Oh, with your recap,
we help each other we'll say.
So for the lore, we're talking demons and we're talking demons on both episodes. Both of these episodes. It's a two parter. So the Lord is going to be the same. The Big Bad is the same. The supernatural element here Yeah. According to Wikipedia, a demon is a malevolent supernatural entity. Historically believe in demons or stories about demons occurs in religion, occultism, literature, fiction, mythology and folklore, as well as in media such as comics, video games, movie anime and
television series. That's all I chose to take from Wikipedia because it's a lot. Oh, I bet there's a lot of shit on Wikipedia about all this. So to talk more about demons, I mean, diamonds turned to daily JSTOR never heard of it. Don't know what it is. Don't Ask Don't ask any follow up questions. Please. Hold your questions. Hold your questions. According to New Testament scholar Dale, Basil Martin. The ancient Greeks used
the word Damon. That's not my country accent but DDA I m o n, to refer to Gods, especially minor gods or intermediate supernatural beings, as well as the souls of the dead. A daemon might also be supernatural entity that causes disease or the disease itself. Demons could possess humans causing madness, but philosophers generally sold daemons as good. And even regular people viewed them as not necessarily evil incarnate, but as capricious creatures who needed sacrifices to mollify
them. Now when ancient scribes translated the Hebrew Bible into Greek, they used Damon for Hebrew terms, referring to a number of different concepts, including pagan gods, human animal hybrids and diseases. But notably, they did not use Damon to mean Angel, even though supernatural creatures acting as intermediaries between humans and the divine fit neatly with the words meaning to Ancient Greeks. Why? Martin writes that there are a couple of reasons.
First, to Greek speaking Jews, Damon's work gods of other nations, not creatures within their religion. And second, the translators might have wanted to avoid suggesting that angels were anything like minor gods. So there's that so far, you're here with me? With you? Okay. There are a few cases in pre Christian texts in which angels have a connection with something like demons. And the ancient Jewish text of the book of Enoch, watchers are basically basically angels mate with human
women and produce giants. How do they give birth to them? Have that happen? Do they just grow up really quickly? Yeah, they just have a growth spurt. Yeah, makes sense. All right. When those giants are killed, their souls become evil spirits. And in the Dead Sea Scrolls, the spirit of injustice is either identified with or led by the quote, Angel of Darkness. And the New Testament, the gospels of Matthew, Mark and Luke begin to equate demons with evil
spirits. So it's not until the New Testament that demons became this like really malevolent thing. They also unify the figures of Satan, the devil and basil Bob. Basil, Bob basil, Bob yields VAs bills above. Luke refers to Satan, falling from heaven, while Matthew mentions
the devil and his angels. By combining these different references the fall of Satan from Luke with the reference to the devil and his angels, from Matthew, with the basil Bob story, making Satan the ruler of the demons, we come up with the different elements of the later belief that Satan is the prince of fallen angels, who are identical with demons, according to this Martin guy, according to Martin, but it was only in the second half of the second century CE II, that a Syrian
Christian theology and what I say in the tatty and fully believed demons as the arch rebels, Satan and the fellow angels, who followed him in his banishment. That is what I found when I Googled our demons real. It gets,
I mean, you could do a real deep dive into those. Well, both of us it's our
demons are real as the lore that I'm covering today and the Lord you're covering next time. Yeah, I'm covering the boring part. You get the Christoph exorcisms and stuff are cooler. You're crazy. And I know from when I actually paid attention to the show later. That's not really the law in the world of supernatural and the supernatural Lord. Demons are souls that were corrupted by hell, like human souls that got sent to hell and were corrupted
in hell. Okay, I think but then they can still it's been a while. Is this somebody? Yeah, they can still possess people. Okay. So their spirits space? Yeah. Like they're, they're basically like they're ghosts, but they're given powers because they've been corrupted by hell. And they're like, evil little mercenaries, basically. Okay. I think it's been a really long time.
That makes sense from what we've seen. Yeah, yeah. So
I think that's what it isn't supernatural. But that's that's what demons are in human more in our actual war. Okay. This is a good episode. I enjoyed this episode.
I guess you I like both of these last, yes.
The last few. I liked him a lot. This season ended with a bang. I really enjoyed the end of the season. I wish I had taken more notes. But I was just too, to invest in. Well, I felt
like a lot of the family stuff was like, present. And I will say like we talked about so much like stuff being like wrapped up too fast. But it really went on through the whole season. And he kind of came to a head in these last two episodes. But it felt consistent. It wasn't rushed. And like a lot more was revealed in these last two episodes with them anyway, and I thought it was well done.
I agree. I agree. When we saw 22 episodes, like every season just about we were both like hot down. Yeah. But I agree. I agree this season one, it's 22 episodes, and it feels like it's flown by right.
Yeah, character development and all that their storyline and everything is pretty pretty much done been done. Well, I think.
Yeah. I think there's only been one or two episodes that at the end of the episode, I thought, how did that move the story along at all? Yeah, you know, and out of 22 episodes, that's pretty good. Or like if there was anything like oh, wait a minute, that doesn't make sense to what we've learned here and there. Yeah, there have been plot holes, but none of them have bothered me at all. Yeah, nothing like huge. Yeah, well, the close out this episode. We
love Meg. And Ellie and I were both pretty devastated to find out that actress Nikki A Cox who plays mag and Season One, unfortunately passed away due to leukemia. She passed away on Wednesday, November 16. This episode will be publishing much later, but we still wanted to address this because we thought she was fabulous. So
we origins made her so good in her part. Like I wish we were going to see more of her.
I do too. I actually was I remember us having a conversation a while back where we were both saying why have we not seen this actress and more thing, right? Yeah, she was I really enjoyed her performance. Me too. So for closing it out. I'm going to read her obituary, and then I have a notable quote from her. She is most predominantly known for supernatural but Nikki A Cox was an actress who first appeared on television in guest roles on the
series Boy Meets World. She was also on a show USA high and she appeared on Third Rock from the Sun. In 2003, she starred in the horror film, jeepers creepers too, and in 2006 is when she began her recurring role on the first season of supernatural as Meg masters. She appeared in the film The X Files I want to believe, and had a guest, who had a guest appearance on the TV series dark blue. Her last acting credit was the 2014 TV film dead on campus. A Cox was a singer who released an EP titled
Red Velvet Room in 2015. For a notable quote, this is something she posted on her Instagram page and march regarding singing a Whitesnake song from her hospital bed. So, Nikki was a badass till the end. She said, Stop. Do not attempt to sing 80s music after taking high doses of chemo will cause memory loss. So she was a badass and she was funny. I love it rest in peace, Nikki a pox.
You're an angel now. Cheers. Cheers.
