Berly

Welcome to denim wrapped nightmares tipsy exchange Podcast where we explore the supernatural series, episode by episode.

LA

over drinks, we'll discuss the lore of gore and what we adore about the Winchesters and their adventures.

Berly

I'm burly, and I'm a new fan of the series.

LA

I'm LA, and I'm here along for the ride. Now, let's get tipsy.

Berly

Hello, la.

LA

Hello, Burley.

Berly

It's our season two premiere. We're starting to hear from some people in the fandom. Oh, really? Yes. I'm getting a lot of questions about who we ship. What? I know I have to remind people, we're only one season in. We don't ship any we aren't when c'est shippers

LA

like couples. Yeah. Oh, okay.

Berly

That's apparently a big part of the fandom reveal. Or at least it is for the people who have reached out to us. They're asking who we ship.

LA

Like I know, you know why it's like they wouldn't have like any real relationships. Since they're traveling all the time.

Berly

One would think Yeah, but apparently there's quite a few to choose from. We'll have to see if we can spot them as we're going through the show.

LA

I don't like any of them.

Berly

Right? It's like, Listen, if I'm going to build an alternate reality, and like have this delusional universe where these fictional characters are in a relationship, they're all in a relationship with me.

LA

Right? Right.

Berly

They're all dating me. Oh, my ship names would be terrible, though. Been no bomb. That's funny. So I've been getting questions about that. Also, where we're seeming to get the most engagement where we've found our perverted, like minded listeners. It's on tick tock. Oh, really? I don't know how to tick tock. So I was very surprised that we're getting some good engagement there. Twitter is scaring me. I don't I don't even want to go on Twitter

very much. Why? That's where people are mean to each other. Like the SAM girls will be mean to the dean girls and vice versa. And there's drama. And Misha Collins has a stalker that keeps her stuff keeps ending up in my timeline somehow. I don't want to see that. It's scary. Yeah, so Twitter. Almost made me go. Do we want to be doing this? Tic TOCs. Maybe go Oh, yay. Oh,

Unknown

good. All right.

Berly

So that's our social media update. La. Oh my god. Speaking of, okay, I was listening to a podcast where Misha Collins was getting interviewed. I can't remember. I think it was Michael Rosen bomb inside of you. Oh, which he? Michael Rosenbaum can get inside of me.

LA

I don't know who that is. He played Lex Luthor on Smallville.

Berly

He's like, 50 No, he's not bald. Well, he shaved his head for the show. But yeah, he was he was. Hang on.

LA

Okay. I think I know who you're talking about. No, I kind of show you Okay. Oh, yeah. Okay.

Berly

I think it was his it might. It doesn't matter. It does. I was listening to a podcast where Misha Collins was getting interviewed. And he was talking about how for super fans that there's a large female population. And he made a joke that it's like females who aren't satisfied in the bedroom. Hang on now. And I was just thinking, Hmm, like you and I both went into the pandemic single disillusioned with men

during 2020 and 2021. Not seeing a lot from men making us want to get back in the dating pool. Yeah. And now here we are watching supernatural. Oh. Dang. Dang. Dang, I think he's onto something. Maybe, maybe. Now let's talk about where we were last week with the season one. Oh, all of season one. You're recapping the whole thing today.

LA

Put what away? We've come. Wait, what?

Berly

Well, it hasn't been that long. We got through one season. There's 15 total. There are so long. Yeah. 22 episodes. A lot happened. So much happened. Yeah. And I have faith in you being able to summarize it though.

LA

Listen, I don't so I mean, well, we know Sam and Dean were fall and Sam and Dean across the country and demons. Bad things.

Berly

Save and people have done things. Yeah.

LA

They horse Sam's girlfriend died just like his mom thinks it's all his fault. Then he starts coming up with these visions, predictions.

Berly

Visions predictions.

LA

Yeah. Daddy pops up here and there.

Berly

He moved a dresser. No, he didn't say I'm moved a dresser with his mind. He did in nightmare.

LA

Oh, that's right. Yeah. Okay, so now he's tell that tell You can telepathic

Berly

and telekinetic or he's not telepathic. He's delicate. Yeah. Tell him telepathic telekinetic

LA

demon got laid. Sam had a towel. So yeah, favorite. My favorite. We saw Sam and nothing but a towel. It was the best. What else? I mean, oh, mag.

Berly

We love mag mag.

LA

She's but she got exercise being controlled by the demon that killed her mom. Right?

Berly

That's what it seems like that's her. That's her boss. Right. But she got exercise. So she's gone. She went back the demon. Well yeah, she's gone and the human mag passed away due to her injuries. So there was a racist truck.

LA

That gal there was a little girl that slice people's throats open from a painting. Yeah, yeah. I mean a lot. There was a lot. There were bugs. You hate it. That episode did. Yeah, the law went on. And then it ends with daddy coming back to help them hunt down the demon that killed the mama.

Berly

And presumably Jessica. Oh,

LA

yeah. Oh, and let's not forget that. We did meet somebody who has the same whose mom died the same way when he

Berly

was Oh yeah, so there's other children's there's others like Sam

LA

so yeah, and then ends with the demon still coming after? Well, they get away they're they're beat up beat up beat like deeds not looking good in the back seat. And then they get rammed by an 18 Wheeler. Driven by the demon. Oh, there's the fancy gun. They got the gun bullet left in the cold that they can kill the demon with because it can kill anything. Yep. Bobby came around and helped the end. So, Bobby Oh, in Missouri.

Berly

Oh, I was about to say I found out a fun fact about Bobby. Oh, yeah. That was originally supposed to be Missouri that they went to for more help. But the actress Loretta Devine, she wasn't available. And so they made up Bobby kind of on a whim. Oh, okay. Which he's one of my favorite characters right now. I do like I like Bobby a lot. So predictions for season two. I think we're gonna get

LA

it was a no, no, my recap. Oh.

Berly

No, sorry.

LA

So yeah, they got reamed by the demon. And

Berly

it wasn't the same demon though. Because he had black eyes not yellow. It was just another one of his minions. Oh, the truck. Yeah, the structure. The truck driver had black eyes.

LA

But he like comes in out in and out of people like the other one with the blacksmith. Yeah,

Berly

he did. Yeah. But the guy's eyes were black, not yellow. So I thought it was a different person. Like, yeah,

LA

I don't know. You know more than me. Because mag had black eyes. Not yellow. Okay. And then Sam threatens to shoot him with the Colt. Oh, that's

Berly

this episode. Just kidding.

LA

And that's where it ended the whole season. So we did we don't know if they're alive. If they all made it if one of them's dead. Two of them with their three all three live? I don't know. I don't know. We were

Berly

very excited to get just keep going. Like we were going to take a break between seasons. And then it ended on a cliffhanger. And we said fuck that. No, we got to know. We got to know what happened to them Winchester family. Yeah,

LA

that was I mean, that's kind of a good gist of season one. Yeah, I guess.

Berly

What predictions do you have for season two?

LA

I mean, I don't know about predictions. I still can't fathom how they kept the show going for so long. I mean, I would assume they're gonna get the demon in this season. Coming up, maybe? Hopefully. I mean, surely they're not chasing this damn demon. 22 seasons.

Berly

I don't remember anything about a yellow eyed demon when I actually started paying attention to the show. So I'm thinking maybe that's gonna happen this season. But honestly, I don't remember a lot from when I actually started paying attention to the show.

LA

Okay, well, that's my prediction. They're gonna kill you. I hopeful prediction.

Berly

Do you think they're gonna catch the yellow eyes?

Unknown

Season? What about you?

Berly

I think we're gonna see more Bobby, even though it was a spur the spur of the moment character. I think like, I like the beginning part of the season. It seemed like this was just a Winchester thing. Right. And then in the second part of the season, we met the guy who had the Colt. And then we met Bobby and Missouri and we kind of find out yeah, that there's more hunters out there. So I think we're going to meet more

hunters. Okay. And I think Bobby is probably going to be in it more even because I know he's a big character. Eventually, that he's like a regular. And the show I do. Yeah, I knew his I knew his character was around is his dog around and then later. I don't remember a dog. Okay. We shall see. He's Ciao. I'll see. So we have watched the season two premiere. In My Time of Dying. It picks up right where season one finale left off.

We're at the crash site, the Impala the truck driver is coming out of his 18 Wheeler and walking around the side straight up, rips the driver's side door off the hinges like doesn't open it straight up, pulls the whole door off. And Sam is conscious and has the Colt ready like right at his chest? Ready to go? The clicker what's the clicker the trigger? pulled back and is basically like, I'm gonna fucking shoot you if you don't go away. And the guy is like you

have one bullet. You're not gonna you're not gonna shoot me. And same as basically like, try me. Well, the demon decides not to call his bluff and the black smog comes out and they leave the truck driver. And in the meantime, Sam's trying to ask like, Dad, Dean, are you okay? They are not responsive. John Winchester, Dean Winchester, not okay. And then the truck driver. You kind of hear him in the background being like, Oh, God, what happened? Did I do that? I

feel so bad for him. Yeah, he was obviously horrified.

LA

Probably like, did I fall asleep? He has no clue

Berly

cut to it's now daylight. So I guess the accident happened right before a crack of dawn or something. And there's a helicopter there. They have the neck braces on them everything. Sam is still conscious. He keeps asking if Dean and his dad are okay. But the paramedics are just basically telling him to stay still don't move. Shut the fuck up and trying to get them to the hospital. We go to the hospital. Dean wakes up and already you can tell something's not quite right. I couldn't put

my finger on it at first. You did comment on why is he in a T shirt and pants and not some open back hospital gown?

LA

Yeah, I don't I don't understand. They they hand out V necks and pajama pants now apparently when you're the hospital?

Berly

Yeah. Which that's why great awesome. Ever. Yeah. So Dean is awake, walking around perfectly fine. Nothing's wrong with him. He's got like a tiny little scar on his cheek. cut on his forehead. Yeah, ditched a couple of cuts. But just walking around fine. calling out for Sam calling out for his dad, no answer. There isn't anyone around really? Then he goes downstairs to the nurse's station and walks up to the nurse and is asking her what's

going on. And she is completely ignoring him as if he's not even there. And I think that's when you and I put it together that he was having like an out of body experience or something. Yeah. It's spirit Dean. Back in Dean's room. Sam comes in, sees Dean's body and is obviously

LA

just a quick observation. Sam's right side of his face was pretty beat up.

Berly

Right? He got his ass beat in the cabin.

LA

Okay, that's right. I was thinking of the car crash. You would think it would be the left?

Berly

Yeah, I think he had like a cut or something on the left die. Yeah. Daymond John, when John was possessed by yellow eyes, he kicked both their asses. Yeah, particularly Dean's Dean's is the one is where he was doing some sort of demon MCIT. And they Oh, magic. What happened there? Like glitched out a little bit. That was like, making him bleed internally and stuff come blood come out of his mouth. So Dean got really messed up on the inside. Sam just got his ass beat. Yeah. Okay. Sam is

in Dean's room. And he's obviously distraught. Dean is Dean spirit is also in the room trying to talk to Sam. But Sam can't hear him, obviously. Then a doctor walks in. And this doctor really needs to work on his bedside manner.

LA

I mean, a lot of doctors don't have good bedside manner.

Berly

I mean, he's basically talking to Sam about that. We mean, there are a lot of injuries. We won't know his condition until he wakes up. And then he does this pause and he goes, if he wakes up, yeah, like, whoa, bro. He's gotta

LA

be honest. At the

Berly

moment. Things are not looking too good for Dean. No, they they don't know what his condition is fully. If he's going to survive. They don't even know that he's going to regain consciousness. But then, I think another doctor came in I can't remember and said that John was awake. So Sam goes to see John and he's giving him a fake insurance card and telling him to give it to the hospital for him and his two sons and the name on the card is I don't remember the first name but the

last name was McGillicutty. Sam got a little chuckle out of that. And I'm pretty sure that was a nod to Lucille Ball. It was because on I Love Lucy her maiden name was McGillicutty John asks about Dean and Sam is saying that he doesn't give a shit if the hospital can't do anything, that he'll find some hoodoo doctor to work some magic on Dean, which was kind of fun, because that's exactly what Dean was saying to Sam when Sam was in Dean's room. So it's like, did Sam kind of hear Dean or are

they just that much? Like, they just think that much like that Sam was thinking the same thing? Who knows? But I thought that was really cute. John basically is agreeing that, yeah, we'll try finding something. But it's also trying to lower Sam's expectations about whether or not they will find somebody. And Sam reminds him, Hey, I took Dean to a faith healer before. But John is like, that was a one in a million shot. And you kinda already used that up. So Sam and John are not on the same page.

Really? Right now are they ever know? John does say, you know, we'll check every stone or whatever. But he's, I think he's just trying to help Sam. Yeah, kind of accept what's actually happening at the same time. So John is changing the subject fairly quickly to the cult. Where's the cold? Where's the magic gun that can kill the demon that we're hunting that he's all business? Yes. Which of course, annoys Sam. Because Dean is practically dying and you're

worried about the cold? You're worried about hunting the demon, this thing you've been obsessed with? Since I was six months old? You know, fuck you. John is just like, hey, I mean, we're still hunting the demon. We need the gun. I mean, true. I mean, he's right. It's the only thing they know of that will kill the demon that they have. Yeah, he wants to make sure it's safe. But I get Sam's point of view as well. True priorities. Mr. Winchester. He's never managed

those very well, though. So Sam basically tells them it's in the trunk of the Impala. And John has like a you need to go clean that shit out before somebody finds it, which. Good note, John. But Sam's on top of it. He's already called Bobby. So we've already we've already got mentions of Bobby. And Bobby is towing the Impala to his junkyard so they don't have to worry about somebody else going through it. Bobby's on top of it. John, then tells Sam that he needs to go get the coat and

bring it back to him. He also gives him kind of a shopping list to pass on to Bobby and says it's for a protection spell. Before Sam leaves he asks John what the demon meant when he said he had plans for Sam and the children like him. And John says he doesn't know anything. But Dean spirit has been in the room watching this conversation the whole time. So Sam leaves the room and Dean stays behind watching John and realizes John just lied. He knows something he knows more than what he's

letting on. What is John Winchester hiding?

LA

So many things.

Berly

Cut to Sam and Bobby at Bobby's junk yard. They're going through the Impala. Bobby's talking about how it's completely demolished. You know you there's no way we're going to fix this and Sam gets really upset and is telling him you have to keep it. Dean's gonna want to salvage it when he gets better. And at some point you realize Sam's not just talking about the Impala. He is really scared for his brother that tucked in Bobby Qatal. Yeah. Okay. Yeah, he dropped it. He

was like, I'll keep it. I'll keep it. It's fine. tugged at my heartstrings. There. Sam gives him the list. And Bobby kind of asks, John wants all this like, what's this for? And Sam says, well, it's for a protection spell. And Bobby is not great at hiding his emotions or his thoughts, I guess because he makes a face. His face is like, yeah, and then he's just like, okay, and say I'm obviously picks up on something's weird. So he demands Bobby to tell him what's going on. This isn't for

protection. This is for summoning a demon. We cut back to the hospital and we're in Dean's room. John has gone to visit Dean's body. And Dean is walking around you know talking to them. Trying to encourage him help me Don't just sit there staring at me helped me get better. I gotta get back in the game. But John Still just keep sitting there. And then suddenly Dean hears something down the hall. So he goes to check it

out. And while he's out there this like white spirit, crazy looking thing goes flying past him. It looks like something out of Ghostbusters. And John obviously didn't see shit. So Dean goes after it and turns into A woman's room, and there's a nurse lying on the floor gasping for air. So it wasn't even a patient. Yeah, it was a nurse. And she manages to say she can't breathe, and Dean's calling out for help. But obviously, no one hears him

still. So he basically gets to watch this woman die, which was not fun. back to John's room, Sam walks in Dean's trying to talk to him again, trying to tell them that there's a monster in the hospital, we got to hunt it, we got to go find it. But Sam still can't hear him. John starts to talk to Sam. And Sam is pissed because of what Bobby told him. So he's basically like, do you think I wouldn't find out and doing his angry rebel son thing and

LA

it's like, you got to plan your son's die. Nail you worried about your plan. It was a really good impression.

Berly

It was a perfect impression. He and John are yelling at each other because you know, John's getting pissed off too, because we know by the end of the episode that his plan is completely about saving Dean. But in the moment, we don't know that. And obviously, he's not going to tell Sam because Sam Woods tried to stop him. And Dean is begging them to stop arguing. And while all this tension is building in the room, Dean gets pissed off and slaps

off a glass of water. And it actually goes flying across the room and breaks on the floor. So John and Sam both stop talking and surprised because to them, this glass of water just flew across the room by itself. Then Dean kind of starts flickering in and out and kind of falls to his knees like he's obviously in pain or something. So we go back to Dean's room where apparently the heart in his body not spirit Dean, but body Dean is stopped and they're trying to bring him

back. So Sam comes over and watches from the doorway and is obviously upset seeing his brother get what is it like the emergency kit? What is it? The what's the what's the what did they call it? Well, the defibrillator, the crash cart, crash cart rolling in and everybody's trying to get him back up and going Sam's trying not to break down into tears, watching all of this. And while Dean is watching, he sees that white, ghostly thing come over

hovering over his body. He runs forward and like grabs it and throws it away from him and it's like Get the fuck away from me. And lo and behold, His heart starts beating again. Dean tries to chase after whatever the monster is, but it's gone by the time he gets out in the hall for Reaper, right? Well, we don't know that yet. He goes back on he's trying to comfort Sam even though Sam can't hear him. And he's also telling Sam about the monster and you know if I can grab it, I can kill it and all

of that kind of stuff. And Sam turns and he almost looks at Dean. But then we hear somebody yelling from outside. And it's a woman's voice yelling a lot of the same things. Dean was yelling earlier. You know, can you not hear me? Why aren't you? Do you see me?

LA

Yeah, she's also in pajama pants and a tight white shirt button fitted with buttons with buttons. So they've got different uniforms for men and women at this special hospital.

Berly

Yeah, this hospital provides you with clothing that you could actually wear around your house and be comfortable bullshit. So Dean goes out to see who's Yellin around and he finds this adorable little brunette. And her name is Tessa so in she introduces herself and basically asks like, Are we dead? And Dean shares with her that, you know, I think we're having out of body experience or I can't remember all the lingo he used for it. But basically that's what he's saying, I don't

think we're dead. We're having an out of body experience. And they're saying all this while they're looking at her body laying in a bed and her mother is like crying over her body. Back in John's room, Sam is talking to John saying that he felt as if Dean was there just out of like the corner of his eye and asks if that would be possible. And John replies anything's possible. So Sam says there's only one way to figure

it out for sure. And he takes off to go get a Wii G board so he can talk to his brother.

LA

I feel like listen, I would never even mess with like the the one you can buy at a store or whatever but I just think it's comical that he went to like a toy store and got the one I forget the company that puts them out or whatever. I just think it's really funny answer Hey, it's like that's just not gonna work. Like I would be more scared of like a proper wooden like old school one. I mean it we're we're also talking about a TV show about supernatural things that don't exist.

Berly

It worked. Okay, it worked.

LA

But Mattel No, I don't know. doesn't matter just to me. How dare you?

Berly

It wasn't even an official budget Weegee board. It was like, that's what I'm saying a seance board or something. Exactly.

LA

That's what I'm saying. I think it's so silly. Like you would think them of all Pete. Well, I guess they're on the road, I would think that they'd have a little Ouija board and then truck somewhere, you know?

Berly

Well, anyway, before Sam leaves the room, I just don't think it's that important.

LA

I just think it's ridiculous that it's a toy. And it worked. It's a TV show. But anyway,

Berly

before he leaves John's room, John does promise Sam that he's not going to hunt the demon until they know that Dean is okay. So he gets that reassurance. Now Dean and Tessa are hanging out there walking around. He's pretty impressed with her. And the fact that she's taking it a lot better than he felt like he did. She tells him that she was freaked out at first, but she knows whatever's going to happen will happen because it's fate. He's kind of telling her that's bullshit, you always have a

choice. And you can either give in and just follow the path that's laid out before you or you can keep fighting while they're interrupted by a bunch of doctors running around. So they follow them and see that they are trying to save a woman, the white spirit, what have you the UI looking thing is hovering over the body touches on her face. And even though Dean tries to pull it away, it disappears and the woman dies. Next we have Sam and Dean's room with the Wii G board.

LA

It's a dinking dinky looking witchy board. Okay.

Berly

It's cardboard and plastic. Yeah. And in the mystical world of supernatural, that's good enough, it still worked. So Dean was able to sit down and communicate with his brother and let him know that there was a monster in the building and that he was trying to hunt it. Sam actually guesses that it's a Reaper and asks if it's after Dean and Dean response. Yes, that's kind of scary because Sam knows there's

no way to stop a Reaper. So he's panicking and trying to think, how are we going to figure out how to stop this jumps up runs to his dad's room to let him know what's going on. But John isn't there his bed is empty. Cut to the boiler room. John is there with all the ingredients from his list that he got from Bobby, he is drawing a symbol in chalk on the floor, doing some shady shit down in the boiler room. Sam goes back to Dean's room to tell him that he has

their dad's journal. Dean is just kind of talking and being like thank you for not giving up on me, Sammy. And Sam goes to the page on reader Reapers. They're both reading it Dean's like leaning over Sam's shoulder and then he sees something we don't know what yet. And he's kind of like son of a bitch. So he goes down the hall to Tessa's room and she's just sitting there. It's completely empty, completely cleaned up as if nothing had ever been in there.

And you can just tell from her face that she knows what's coming. And she says hello Dean. Dean informs her that he's figured out she's the Reaper because apparently they can come to you in any form that they want. If they want to come to you in the form of an innocent, pretty looking girl who needs help and needs to be saved. She can do that. If they want to come to you in the form of a wrinkly print face. They can do that. So she's been doing this

all along in the hospital. She's the monster of the week, so to speak. Sneaky little bitch. She's very kind though and very nice. And basically just trying to get him to accept that he's dying. Yeah, little does she know this is fucking Dean Winchester. He ain't gonna accept shit. We see John in the hospital boiler room again. I mean, there was a lot of just cutting back and forth between different scenes with everybody. Everybody's kind of doing their

own thing. This episode. And John is in the boiler room chat and some shit he is summoning this demon as we found out from Bobby, this is what he's doing. And he's actually summoning old yellow eyes. Who's been trying to kill them? Who killed her mom? Who killed the mom who killed Jessica, who possessed John and tried to kill Dean. I mean, it's not a good guy. He's not a good guy. This yellow eyed demon. He's a demon. And he's possessed a worker from the hospital. It seems like it's

like a janitor or something. The demon says he's surprised John sub summoned him because he didn't take John to be suicidal. And asks if John really thought he could trap him. But John lowers the cult which he happens to have and uncocks the gun and puts it away. I'm not trying to trap you. I want to make a deal. Now we're back in Dean's room.

And Sam is trying to tell him how he couldn't find anything in the book and he doesn't know how to help Dean and that he He will keep trying, as long as Dean is willing to keep fighting, basically begging Dean to hold on because like he you can't go now I need you now like, we just started to bond as brothers again and all of that. In the meantime, Dean is talking to Tessa and asking him asking her to make an exception for him. She tells him that he's not the first soldier. She's plucked

from the field. She's trying to convince him that it was an honorable death. If you don't leave, you're going to become a vengeful ghost. But Dean says there's no such thing as an honorable death and that he's not gonna go with her no matter

what. In the meantime, John is still talking to L yellow eyes, that he'll give the demon the Colt and the last bullet bullet, but the demon has to save Dean, the demon said the dean and the demon asks if John knows the truth about the other children, John just says, yes, he's known for a while. We aren't filled in to this mystery about the other children. But we do find out that John apparently knew so maybe there's something in his journal that the boys will come across later. Who knows?

LA

Well, I wonder so like, I wonder if he knew what when what happened to his mom and everything. If he knew Dean was different, or if once he learned Dean had these visions or whatever, if he was like, Oh, he's one of them.

Berly

Yeah, maybe he did something creepy as a kid went down went oh, oh, I wonder if that ever clears that up? I don't know. I'm sure we're gonna get we have to get more answers about it this season, I would think either this season or next season, they have to give us the answers to that about these other children and what this demon is up to. But in the meantime, John is insisting you know, can you save Dean or not? And the demon says no, but he

knows someone who can. We cut to Tessa's room, and there's this big smog thing coming through the vent. The demon possesses Tessa her eyes go yellow. And she was not happy about this. She was like, No, you can't. You can't do this screaming, not happy. So he uses Tessa as a vessel to put Dean back in his body. Yeah,

LA

I like how she did it too. She like whips around and just like choose your lucky day kid. And then she just like palms, his forehead and he like jolts awake. Right? Well, he doesn't show him wake up, but we see him. Isn't he like struggling? Because he's got the two.

Berly

Yeah, he's like struggling trying to breathe and choking kind of and Sam is in the room with him. So he fortunately starts yelling for help. Next we see that Dean, he's sitting in his bed. Head. The doctor is basically like, you're all healed up. everything's good to go. Nothing more to do here. You must have like a guardian angel or something. Dean asked Sam, what happened? Because he apparently doesn't remember anything. But he does say that he has a pit in his stomach that something's

wrong. Something's up. John Winchester comes to the door and basking, are you okay? That give him the news that Dean's fine. He's going to be perfectly all right. And Sam asks, John, did you go after the demon? And John says no, but Sam doesn't really believe him. Then Sam, or Sam. Okay. But John,

LA

which name is

Berly

John just kind of gives him a face and says, Can we not fight? Yeah, you know, he doesn't want to fight. And Sam actually looks shocked. Because when does John Winchester not want to pick a fight with him? John even says that half the time he doesn't even know what they're fighting about. Sam is kind of like, what's going on is the same thing. John's being too nice. Yeah. What's up? So Sam asks if everything's okay. And John just says he's tired. Give

me a cup of coffee. Yeah, he said Sam to get him a cup of coffee. So Sam leaves.

LA

Can you get me a cup of coffee? That's what he said. He didn't say coffee. He was like, can you go get me a cup of caffeine, caffeine. today. It's funny.

Berly

So Sam leaves the room and John leans over and it's talking to Dean. And then he leans over and says something in Dean's ear. We don't know what he said. We have no idea. I'm guessing it has something to do with the demon children and saleman whatever it is that he knows this demon is planning for? I don't know. I'm guessing he gave Dana heads up. Yeah. After that. John walks down the hall. He walks up to what looks like the nurse's station or

something. And he puts the coat down on the counter and just says okay, we don't see who he's talking to. He just says okay, and then it shows Sam walking down the hall. And he says his father's body lying in his old hospital room. And so he runs he drops the coffee runs in he's screaming for help. The doctors tried to get John back while seeing I'm indeed both look on, but we hear one of them call

time of death 10

41am. And that's the end of the episode. Rip, John Winchester. This episode was really different from any of the ones we've seen so far. It's pretty sad. It was really sad. And when we saw the title, you and I both looked at each other. We're like, oh, no, like we knew we knew we knew that somebody was gonna die. I didn't know he was going to sacrifice himself in order to save Dean. But we kind of suspected how this episode was going to end.

LA

Yeah, I would feel a little annoyed that he had a like final conversation with Dean after Dean realized what was going on. But he didn't want Sam, I'd be a little pissed. Oh, Sam. Now that he knows that, yeah.

Berly

We're both sad. Like, we're just like, that was the episode.

LA

The the lore for this one is it's for out of body experiences, like Dean said, they are a sensation of your consciousness leaving your body. Most often it's reported from people who've been in a near death experience. It's also kind of been considered a dissociative episode. Associated with episode

Berly

I've, yeah, I had a traumatic experience where I disassociated before and kind of felt like I left my body. Really? Yeah, we won't go into detail on that. Okay, I don't want to I don't want to trigger trigger warning and all that kind of stuff. It was it was not a pleasant experience. But I know I know what you're talking about.

LA

Okay. When I when I read was that it's kind of hard to exactly nail down and speak on what it feels like. But most people have said they generally involve a feeling of floating outside of your body, an altered perception of the world such as like looking down from a height, the feeling that you're looking down at yourself from above, which I'm like, that's the same thing. And a sense that what's happening is very real, like, feels more real than I guess your everyday realness.

Berly

That last part, I didn't. I didn't feel that no.

LA

And then also, people who have like a neurological condition are more apt to get it like epilepsy are apt to have them. I mean, it's pretty rare. And most people it's like maybe once in a lifetime, because of like a Trump traumatic experience or so. I also read that, I think it's like a lot of people who have had heart attacks and a hospital and like are being resuscitated. Like they have them then, like it's a weird percentage. That's hatom that had heart attacks like

that. That's crazy. Yeah. blunt force trauma, any of that stuff. I mean, the majority of people have had all that stuff going on. And when it happens,

Berly

like Dean, wasn't that wouldn't that be considered? Well, I guess we don't know what the demon did to him. Yeah, he got out of him. Yeah.

LA

Yeah, probably won't

Berly

worser because the car wreck. Would that be considered blunt force? Oh, yeah, definitely. Yeah. We'll go with that.

LA

Sounds good. So then they were like, well, what actually happens physically, and there's a debate over whether the sensations and perceptions associated with the OBE out of body experience, shorten, happen physically, or as sort of like a hallucinatory experience. Some studies and case reports evaluate consciousness, cognitive awareness, and recall and people who have survived cardiac arrest, like I

mentioned. And one study included that two participants that had had who had experienced cardiac arrest, they had both visual and auditory experiences, and they detailed the description took place with it within about three minutes of his one of their resuscitations.

Berly

Wait, so does it happen after the resuscitation? Or before or during? It's during, okay? Like, while they're bringing you back? That's typically when it happens. Okay, that makes sense.

LA

There's the very veridical vertical, sure, Mara tickle veridical perception. And this is a controversial concept, because it's talking about the idea that, like, you can leave your body during an OBE and it allows you to witness something like you're watching a movie, but it's you or something like that, you know, like what Dean did on the show? Exactly. Yeah,

yeah. Says anecdotal reports of this phenomenon, with few people even providing like specific and accurate details about the events and like it's happened during surgical procedures or while they've been clinically dead. On the table. They um, yeah. When they were investigating the validity.

Okay. I can't talk today, when they were investigating the validity of the veridical perception and people who had survived cardiac arrest They found that neither of these two individuals were able to report like that they were aware they were being resuscitated, but they were able to identify specific items that were only viewed like viewable from like being above in the room. That's crazy. Yeah. And like we said, are like I said, they it's like stress or trauma is usually

brought on. A lot of women have had had it happen during child labor, traumatic childbirth. They've had that happen. Sometimes it's linked to post traumatic stress disorder. They say epilepsy, migraines, cardiac arrest, brain injuries, depression, anxiety and GI and Barre Syndrome. So you say it, I don't know what that is. So I will Guillain Barre Syndrome. Yeah, yeah, that one anyway. Okay. Dissociative disorders, particularly depersonalization.

derealization disorder can involve frequent feelings or episodes where you seem to be observing yourself from outside your body. Sleep paralysis is also a possible cause of them. Then there's the drugs. Oh. Some substances that some substances like cannabis, ketamine, or hallucinogenic drugs, like LSD can cause a similar sensation that what people who have OBE is

experience. There's also like with astronauts, the G force, where it kind of knocks them out for like, I think it said like, it's so they're going so fast that it causes the blood to pool in their lower body. And that can affect the loss of consciousness and then induce an OB. Because they basically like pass out for a few seconds. Yeah, and then come back once things have leveled out. They're not in GeForce anymore.

Berly

I love watching videos of people who go on scary rides, and pass out during the ride. Oh, God, I've never seen that. Oh, my gosh, I have so many videos to show you. Oh, no,

LA

I hate that. It's a G force can also cause spatial disown dysentery. You'll get it haven't even started God. Extreme G force can also cause spatial disorientation, periphery. Oh my god.

Berly

It's a lot of hard words.

LA

Extreme G force can also cause spatial disorientation, peripheral vision loss and disconnection between cognition and the ability to act. That's just they passed out. I mean, come on. And then they can also be induced intentionally or accidentally by brain stimulation, sleep deprivation, sensory deprivation and hypnosis or meditative trance. So big words? Not really, I'm just dumb. Oh, you're not? Ah, okay. Don't talk about my friend like

that. We really don't know whether your consciousness can actually leave your body, your physical body. And it hasn't been proven. But for centuries, people have reported these experiences and sensations. And like we said, more common with people with dissociative disorders, epilepsy, most especially cardiac arrest or brain injury. That's just what happens pretty often. But we have no real like, scientific proof of what actually they are and how it happens. And what happens?

Berly

Well, because they aren't predictable. It seems like yeah, you know, you can't predict that someone's about to have a heart attack. Let's go put electrodes all over their body and see what happens if they happen to have a out. What is it? OB

LA

OB e OB and a body experience? I

Berly

think though, there's some how are you supposed to study that? You know, honor that?

LA

I think the Queen gives somebody that's an OBE to Oh, I think I could be wrong. But anyway, but yeah, I

Berly

mean, it makes sense. There's not a lot of information on it. Yeah. How could you possibly study it? It's just like reports from people. Yeah. But to close it out. My favorite quote from the episode at least, was from Dane, when he was in John's room and John and Sam were fighting and he hit the glass. He said, Dude, I full on Swayze that mother. Oh, yeah. Cheers. Cheers. Thank you for listening to denim wrapped nightmares.
