Episode description

Berly and LA recap the season two Supernatural episode, Houses of the Holy. Over drinks, they'll discuss lore, gore, and what they adore about the Winchesters and their adventures. Now, let's get tipsy!  CW/TW for violent and lewd commentary; listeners beware! 🔞

Summary: In the "Houses of the Holy" episode, Sam and Dean investigate a series of murders in Providence, Rhode Island, where individuals claim to have been guided by angels to commit killings. They encounter a woman named Gloria, who believes she was instructed by an angel to murder, and another man, Despondent Danny, who also follows such a command. The brothers discover that the killings are actually the work of a vengeful spirit, Father Gregory, seeking revenge. The episode ends with a poignant conversation between Sam and Dean about faith and the possibility of redemption. The discussion also touches on the motel room set design and real-life cases of individuals claiming to act on divine commands.

Berly

Welcome to denim wrapped nightmares tipsy exchange Podcast where we explore the supernatural series episode by episode.

LA

over drinks, we'll discuss the lore of gore and what we adore about the Winchesters and their adventures.

Berly

I'm burly, and I'm a new fan of the series.

LA

I'm LA, and I'm here along for the ride. Now, let's get tipsy.

Berly

Hello, LA,

LA

hey, Burley. We just watched HOUSE OF THE HOLY houses houses of the holy. Before we get to that I'll recap our last episode, which was the night shifters that we liked so much, where Sam and Dean investigated a string of robberies in Milwaukee, and it ended up that it was another shapeshifter. We met our beloved character, Ronald, who was a conspiracy theorists and semi figured out the shapeshifter stuff he thought it was, what was that a

man wrote man's Mandroid? Yeah, we also found this FBI agent that's after them that somehow knows all about Sam and Dean and their data and their lives. And he thinks that they are the bad guys and he wants to get them. But Sam and Dean, pull a trick one on him, pulled trickling, pull a fast one on him, and knock out a couple of the SWAT teams that come in to sweep the place at the very end. It's

pretty cool. And I think I told you, I looked up some trivia that that was one of Jarrods favorite scenes music wise with the renegade was a renegade song coming in, as we see the two our two boys. Yeah, walking into the parking garage and full swag here. But then just slide again to the Impala. And then like when they take off it, the music really crashes in so it was pretty cool. And then of course it ends with Dean saying we're

screwed. Because now they're, you know, Santa, or Dean is now supposedly dead, but alive again and robbed a bank.

Berly

Well, Linda Blair cop told them at the end of that up the usual suspects I think that hey, I'll clear you guys of all this shit, but I can't do anything to help you guys with the fact that people know you're alive now. That they still think that you murdered the shapeshifter people and all that other crap that happened way back in season one. I think Linda Blair cop told Henrickson

LA

Oh, I didn't think about that. And about the Winchesters Oh, you're probably right.

Berly

Why else would they even be on his radar?

LA

But she's like down for them. So like, why would she present them as bad guys?

Berly

Maybe she didn't. Maybe Henriksen just took it that way. Yeah, true. Okay. He seems like he could make some sexy mistakes.

LA

Yeah, I'd say so. But yeah, that was the gist of night shifters. night shifts, night shifters.

Berly

Wow. For houses of the holy. I'm drunk.

LA

Well, and I read that that's Led Zeppelin album name of OLEDs. Up. Yes.

Berly

You told me that. Bear with me. As we get through this episode. Recap. We opened up in Providence, Rhode Island, and the camera is moving through an apartment. There's clothing everywhere. There's Angel statues everywhere. There's a fab little pump on the floor. That wasn't even a pump that was like a hooker heel. Oh, yeah. Which hooker is the word is used quite a bit in this episode. So that's fine. And we come across a person who we don't know her

name at the time. So in my notes, I named her bad times, Betty. Bad times. Betty is not having a good time.

LA

Well, and I wrote down that she's messy bitch. She's all over the floor. shit everywhere. thing full of cigarette butts next door.

Berly

Looks like she's slept in makeup. Three nights in a row. Yeah, bad times. Betty is having a bad time. She's watching television, smoking cigarettes. An inch of ash hanging off her cigarette. And this Jim Jim Beaver want to be as on TV? Preaching Baker. Baker. You know who I was thinking of the actor who plays Bobby. Oh, yeah. That's chimpy for Jim Baker, this Jim Baker want to be as on TV preaching. she rolls her eyes turns off the TV. It's like fuck this. But then the TV says no

bitch, you're gonna listen. And Jim Baker comes on and is rather insistent about you got to be good. And bla bla bla, and then all of a sudden there's this white light at the end a bad time. But he's Hall and she's staring into it. She's got some beautiful eyes and once we actually get some light in there, and then it cuts away. We don't see what happened to bedtime, Betty. She just as mouthing. Oh my God into the

LA

light. Bedtime Betty My name is Mimi.

Berly

GLORIA

LA

Oh my god, I I swear on the subtitles it said Mimi, and that's why put me where did you get me? Where we have to go back and look at that? Because I swear it said Mimi. Oh my god, I wouldn't have made that up. Where would I have even come up with that? I'm telling you those subtitles said me. And how dare you subtitles get it wrong. I rely on you. All right. GLORIA You're right. Because Sam calls Gloria All right. Russ rip beanie. All right, drempt you up.

Berly

So we cut to a psych ward. And we see Sam and white scrubs, looking scrubbed really anxious. And he's walking in to talk to a bad time Betty who's no longer having a bad time. She's cleaned up. She looks happy content.

Unknown

She had a blowout. Yeah.

Berly

Her face was washed. And Sam just seemed so large in this scene. Yeah. It was wonderful.

LA

It's like a Strong Oak Tree.

Berly

Yes, that true. That chair. And the radiator just added to the proportions of the dimensions of understanding just how big this man is. Sam, the attending was nice to look at. Oh, yeah. Those white scrubs did him? Well, they were they were working for him. And she said, You're not my usual guy. And he said, Oh, I'm just filling in. Sam Winchester could fill me in at a time. All right. He sits down to talk about time Paddy, and lets her know that he liked

to know what she saw. And she tells him that what she saw was an angel. The angel spoke the word to her. And apparently the word was murder. Because

LA

I wrote down angels give the okay to kill. Yeah, apparently.

Berly

Apparently that was the word was murder. Bad time Betty said that the angel just kind of told her to wait for a sign and she'd know what to do. And the second she saw her victim she knew he was a bad guy. And she had to take him out. Which creepy? Yeah. Then we cut to the motel room. hotel room Holiday Inn and Dean is chillin relaxin all cool. With some magic fingers on the bed.

LA

No, it was what did it say? It said I wrote it down. Hold on. He had the quarter machine for the tingling relaxation. You wrote down the whole thing tingly relaxation and D dough. Dammit. The tingling relaxation and ease magic fingers, which is what I saw was basically the bed vibrating. Yeah, for him and he was

Berly

into it. Sam even commented when he came in the room. You're enjoying it a little too much. And it's making me uncomfortable while they were having a conversation

LA

which then he proceeded to ask Sam if he had any more quarters, even though he knows knew what made him Hey,

Berly

it felt good. Yeah. All right. It felt good. Sam is in the motel room and not out staking this crime, whatever you want to call it with Sam, because he's having to lay low since he is apparently the only one on the news for having had a part in the bank robbery in night shifter. Which I thought was interesting that Sam wasn't included in that because Hinrichsen apparently knows all about Sam and Dean so you want to Steen why he's he really

wants Dean. Yeah, they all do when this was whole show you told me the name of the show was everybody wants to fuck Dean in my opinion. We'll get more into that as we move along. Dean refers to Gloria aka bathtime Betty, as crazy hooker. real nice, real nice.

LA

You could roll or a sex worker.

Berly

Would you knows if that's even what she was doing. But it turns out the bad time Betty. She was actually the second person in this town to kill someone claiming that an angel told them to do so. So it wasn't just bad time Betty that brought the Winchesters to town to Providence, Rhode Island. As they're chatting back and forth about the possibility of angels.

Dean is adamant that there is no such thing as angels because he's never seen one right and Sam obviously is wanting to be more open to this prospect which ends up being a theme throughout the episode and is really sad by the time we get to the end. Sam has already checked out Gloria's apartment says there's no sign of sulfur no EMF, nothing at her place. So they decide to go check out her victims place instead. When they get to the

place. There's still decorations up Christmas decorations and Dean makes some sort of comment about like, oh, well don't leave your Christmas decorations up after New Years and maybe you'll be safe. Which made me think of what was that movie was civil Shepard, where she was like a mom and she was murdering people for doing the real material. Why?

LA

Love? Oh my gosh, my brother and I, when we were younger, we used to joke that that was our mother like or

Berly

like she was killing people for wearing white after Labor Day and totally, I was totally thinking oh my god, is this a serial bomb that they're hilarious as they're checking out the outside of the house to the victim, Sam says something about how Gloria had said that he was guilty to his deepest foundations. And they happened to see that there was a little was what do we call them the storm shelter doors that lead down to a basement? Yeah. So they go open that and they go

inside? They're looking around, and Sam sees these scratches on the wall. And as he looks closer, there's a fingernail scratches in the wall like a lady fingernail. Yeah, like a press on or whatever. They ended up digging into the basement floor and totally John Wayne Gacy style they find a body down there. Hence the victim not a

good guy. Right? Cut to someone I'm gonna call it despondent Danny he's sitting in his efficiency apartment on his bed there's bottles everywhere he's drinking piece of shit apart it's filthy Danny is not doing well okay we got bad time buddy and now we got despondent Danny and we see the white light again.

LA

Well, but so I don't know if we talked about this but I remember in the beginning before meanie slash bad Betty slash Gloria slash hooker slash Joker. Yeah, slash crazy. Totally crazy. Hackers. Yeah, Tucker. There was like an earthquake. Like her whole apartment started shaking before she saw

Berly

like the magic fingers bed. Oh, there's definitely shame.

LA

But I remember I remember being like getting a doorway bitch like, standing there. Like clearly shields him in an earthquake. I haven't either. But I know what to do.

Berly

We have been in an earthquake. Remember when we were having a bunch of earthquakes? Yeah, that's true. Tissue. Remember? When we read that because I remember texting you whenever I woke up one morning and felt like my bed was shaking. And I was like, did we have an earthquake in Dallas?

LA

Will and I had been at work and like a big building but I we still kind of felt. Yeah, it was crazy. I mean, nothing like this. I feel like I'm being really nothing like this episode. But But yeah, her her place was a shaken. And so then what's but

Berly

depressed Danny's Danny's remember the alcohol bottle shattering right and all of that.

LA

Yes. And he was not bothered by edit either. He just was he didn't

Berly

I don't think he even got out of bed a little bit. Going around being like, Oh,

LA

he was like, Am I drunk? It was.

Berly

So after despondent daddy, ooh, Danny sees the white light in his apartment, wherever he was. He ends up following it to a house in a suburban area and goes up to the door. He knocks someone answers. Danny is just like, Oh, hey, step steps out. And the guy's like, Oh, ouch. Yeah. And so that guy's dead. We cut back to Dean in the motel room listening to a police scanner. And he just wants some more quarters, man. Like, that's all he wants. He wants some more quarters for the magic fingers.

Sam comes in with food. But Dean. He's got his priorities. I'm sorry if my drink is making noise in the background listeners deal with it. We're past the point of me carrying this right now. In addition to food, Sam has some tea. The guy was really a bad dude. He worked at the local library. And I think it was three girls who also had worked at the library had gone missing over the period of time. So the one body they found in his basement. Probably

wasn't alone. Yeah, probably had a couple of friends down there with them. I was kind

LA

of thinking that when when we saw him dig them up, but was it just one? Hmm.

Berly

Before the scene started, Dean had heard on the police scanner that they were talking about. Danny, his name in the show is Zach. And so they decide. Let's go check it out. And they just went ahead and did the same MO they went straight to the victim's house, looked on the computer and up what has the victim been doing? AOL chatting with a 13 year old girl and had the intention of meeting up with her that very night despondent Danny, and that time Betty, have taken out to people who were not

good people, right? At this point, Sam is pretty fucking convinced it really is an angel. He really wants to believe it's an angel. Oh, yes, yeah. Desperately, almost. But not Dean doesn't believe he is super skeptical, does not think it's an angel at all. While they're in the pedo victims house, they figure out that he goes to a certain church, and that that is the same church that the other victims went to as well. So guess what their next stop is? They talk to Father Reynolds at

the church about angels. They're talking about Michael the Ark Angel. They talk about how Michael the Ark angels sword is flaming. Just thinking what is happening? Are they really laying little easter eggs this early? What is happening? La has no idea why I'm laughing and cackling about all of this stuff. True. And honestly, I don't really fully understand it. But I know there's a connection here. I know there's a connection here coming in the future. It's coming.

LA

I always like to know, I wish there was a way to know if they purposely did these things, though to a new

Berly

doubt ants. You know, I highly doubt it because we're just in season two. And Eric crypkey was only planning for it to be five seasons.

LA

You worked on it for 10 years, man. Right,

Berly

Eric crypkey left after five seasons, I think I think he left after the fifth. Oh, I didn't know that. Yeah, I don't think he was the showrunner after that. You told me that. We'll have to Google it whenever we get to the fifth or sixth season.

LA

Oh, I did not know that at all. Well, then no. Wonder okay.

Berly

There are a lot of people I've seen on Twitter and whatnot, who claimed that everything's intentional. Everything was planned. I personally don't think that was the case. But it's fun to go back and hear things being talked about and how it potentially ties into future things. And maybe maybe they did perfect. I just don't think that was the case personally. Okay. Writers. If you're if you're a writer on the show, y'all feel free to tell me I'm wrong. Tell me I'm pretty well, you're at

it. Anyway. While they're talking to Father, Reynolds, I didn't come up with a cute nickname for him forgive me. While they're talking with him. They ended up finding out that another priest was actually murdered on the church steps. Not too long before all of these things started happening so immediately it's okay. Vengeful Spirit. Fallen Angel Dean, of course is leaning vengeful spirit. This is a perfect recipe

for vengeful spirit. Sam does not want to let go of the possibility that it's an angel though. While they're debating whether it's a vengeful spirit or an angel Sam ends up confessing that he prays every day. And Dean doesn't really know what to do with that information. Yeah, he seems very surprised. Just kind of brushes past it to be honest. Yeah. They decide to go to the crypt where the priest the murdered priest is buried. As they're walking

in. There's like the for yay where there's the creepy Chair of angels in the corners doing the weird pose. I did not like them. And then there's a giant angel statue as Sam is passing Stam what happened there?

LA

Sebastian stamp.

Berly

As Sam is passing the statue, it starts to shake and vibrate and a little bit of little golf stuff going on to the bright white light is coming. And Sam straight up fucking passes out. he faints too much for him falls like a great oak tree. I catch him a try. Dean comes out and wakes Sam up is asking if he's okay. offers him has flask. And Sam's like I don't want that right now. Dairy and Ellie and I looked at each other we like we would both like no matter what

the situation was. If one of us handed the other something to drink. We'd both just take it no questions.

LA

Yeah, I just seen an earthquake like a statue of an angel. Like basically earthquake in front of me. I'd be like, Yes, I need I need a swig. Thank you very much.

Berly

I wouldn't even ask you what it was. If I sneezed and you handed me something. I feel like I would just take it and drink it. Which maybe I'm too trusting.

LA

I mean, if I'm handing you a flask because I don't like I'm gonna be repeating

Berly

I would trust you. Yes, I would trust you to not refer to me. After Sam comes to and rejects the flask from Dean, he is convinced what he had just seen was an angel.

LA

Oh, yeah. He seems like he's really been touched by any

Berly

don't put, heard arable there was a video I was watching I think it was on tick tock or something where it was a panel event. And they were talking about how Jared paddle Ickes wife. Someone approached her and was asking, oh, you're married to a guy from Supernatural? Are you married to the short one or the one from Seventh Heaven?

LA

Oh, my God, which neither

Berly

thing is right. Yeah. And she apparently answered like neither. Oh, wow. Anyways, Dean is still super skeptical. And he ends up talking a little bit about their childhood and confesses that their mom would always tell him that angels were watching over him again. Another thing that if you know, you know, it's crazy that it's happening so early in season two, Sam tells Dean you've never

told me this before. And Jane just kind of brushes him off and says that if he's going to believe in angels, he wants hard proof. They get up and actually go check out the priests grave and decide that what they need to do is a seance. Let's talk to this guy. Figure out what the fuck is going on. They leave the crypt to go get supplies at I think they were like a Kroger or something.

LA

It wasn't even a Kroger it was like a bodega like little like 711 Like just some little

Berly

store. So they go to some little store pick up like a mat that apparently had SpongeBob on it because Sam was just devastated that what are we going to do with this shit? Dean seems like it'll be fine. It'll be fine. Well as they're leaving the store getting in the Impala Sam sees, quote the sign. He sees the light around a person standing on the corner who also has a bag of shit. And he's just like, oh, that's a sign that I'm supposed to go murder this guy

apparently. And Dean says, That's not happening today. He gets in the Impala lock Sam out. Tell Sam. You go do the seance. I'm gonna follow this guy and see what's up.

LA

Yeah, well, you gotta charge up because he was like, Alright, let's go. But then he got the car, lock the doors and then told them all that. Which good brother. He says he's always going to look out for

Berly

him watching out for his throw aways. Sam seriously begs to go after this guy. Also so good for Dean for saying, you know, I'm gonna go after him. I'm gonna check this out. I'm not going to ignore you. But I'm not going to enable you either. You know. Sam does go back to the crypt as he was told to perform the seance. And Father Reynolds walks in

LA

which I was actually surprised I thought Dean or I thought that Sam might put up a little fight or be like spiteful and not go and go ahead with it and do it. But he did he it showed him how to have fun in there let have the candles lit had daddy's journal ready to do that? I mean, he started even doing this dance.

Berly

It was nice to see daddy's journal make an appearance as well, because we haven't heard that mentioned in a while. Yeah. Father Reynolds is shook if he does not know what is going on, but they are able to talk to the dead priest. I didn't write his down. I think it was Father Gregory. That is Yeah. So Father Gregory is the culprit behind everything. And Father, Reynolds and Sam have like a heart to heart with Father Gregory letting him know, you're not an angel. What you're

doing is just vengeance. It's wrong. It's a sin. yatta yatta yatta. In the meantime, Dean originally lost the bad guy who he was tailing, we see that the bad guy has pulled off down an alley. He's got a date in the car. He got her flowers. And the date is very confused because they were apparently supposed to be going to a movie. But they're in an alleyway. But they're parked in an alleyway. dark alleyway. And the date is asking him what's going on? What are

you doing? He creepily leans over and tries to start making out with her. She rejects him and then he pulls out a fucking box cutter.

LA

They slapped her first.

Berly

Does he slandered her yeah, he's been abusive pulls out a box cutter and tells her I'm sorry I've never done this before. I'm sorry. You've you've never assaulted someone before. You've never murdered someone before what was what was the goal here? Either way, not a good guy. No. Fortunately, Dean happened to find them just Just in time, he shatters the driver's side window, beats the guy up a little bit, hits the unlock button helps the victim get out of the car and the

assailant. We don't know his name creepy guy comes to and drives off. Dean checks to make sure that the girl is okay tells her to call 911 and the pursues the assailant and I'm thinking don't call 911 You're a wanted criminal Dean. What the fuck man? Right? You don't need cops on the scene? Right? Well,

LA

he we didn't realize he was gonna be like, peace out. I guess because he took off right away.

Berly

Dane didn't realize it either. Dean runs and gets in the Impala and he follows the guy. They're doing a chase scene. There's some big truck that just decides to try and cut them off. But slowly

LA

too, right? Like I'm just gonna make this turn right in front of you while you're driving fast.

Berly

No blinker nothing, just the guy the assailant misses the big truck drives around it. So there's Dean is still chasing the guy. And then they come up to another intersection where there's a couple of cars, this truck was some materials in the back has to slam on his brake and swerve to avoid hitting somebody else. And a giant pipe comes flying out of the truck through the windshield of the assailants car and like penetrates him. It's a final destination death. I said penetrate.

LA

With through his chest.

Berly

It penetrated him hard and fast. No one knew what happened. But it was totally final destination. If you've seen those movies, it was like a death from that. Yeah. And later when Dean is describing everything that happened. He said if he hadn't seen it, he wouldn't have believed it himself, that it seemed like the will of God, you know, the truck turning in front of them and the guy had narrowly missing it. That could have killed that guy.

And whenever that didn't work, something else happened that ended up killing the bad guy, this assailant, abuser, whatever you want to call him. Father Reynolds and Sam and up putting father Gregory to rest father Reynolds gives him his last rites, which he'd never got a chance to do before. And Father Gregory peacefully passes over to the other side, which was nice to see. Sam is sad that it wasn't an angel. And it was so sad. He and Dean have a heart to heart where they're talking

about it. Knocking on heaven's door is playing in the background. It was fucking perfect. loved the ending of this episode. Dean explains to Sam what he had seen earlier and is basically letting Sam know you shouldn't give up the faith. Keep keep believing Sam confesses to feeling like he's inherently evil and he wanted to believe in angels. He wanted to

believe he can be saved. And it's just such a sad heartwarming but sad ending to the episode that just further solidifies the relationship between the Winchester brothers.

LA

Yeah, I know. I thought it was so sweet. The Dean's like, you got me I'm looking after and he's like, Yeah, but you're just one person. And he's like, thought of yet you know, God looking out for him too. And it's like, like, that's gonna be heartbreaking for deep because it's like he thinks he's got it covered. But then at the same time, Sam like he, as much as he loves and appreciates his brother. He's kind of heartbroken that this belief he had, it's just broken.

Berly

I hope that Sam accepts he's not evil. Only one day because he feels like he's just bound to become this killer. Terrible thing. Eventually, when he's like such

LA

a good guy,

Berly

he's such a sweetheart. I know. He's our Sammy sassy pants and we love him. That was the end of houses of the holy was this heart to heart between the Winchesters Dean confessing that he saw something he can't explain that evening and Sam confessing that he's terrified he can't be saved. I know. I'm saying that because LA is frowning at me right now. So let's go into a door. What did we adore about this episode?

LA

i Okay. Well, I noticed that. I mean, obviously, there's always stuff with the guys. But I feel like all the motel rooms they have have a similar vibe to them. And it seems like every time when they walk in the door, the majority of them have like these. Either columns or rows are like pictures that are like vertical slants, I guess you'd say, I think last week on night shifter. It was like, like some sort of beer logo on it this

week. It was like the the lady I forget what that logo was for when it's the girl sitting there like you see it on the mudflaps. Yeah, they team Yes. And it just in different forms, but it's always in kind of a similar format. And I just think it's funny because I'm like, granted, I will say, No, I haven't frequented many motels. I have been to some, but

Berly

never like that high school was

LA

like you walk in, there's two beds, maybe a dresser with a tiny TV and a bathroom. Not like these motels. These boys are in we're having like, oh, yeah, yeah. So I don't know. I just thought I start. I've been paying attention to that lately. And I feel like I pointed out to you this time when I was like, it's kind of cute to see what they choose for each episode of what the motel is going to look like.

Berly

I remember. I think it was something wicked where they did the flashback to John Winchester coming in that there was the bowling pin. Yes. Yeah. What it's always like, a little half wall with some sort of,

LA

it's like, a raid. Yeah.

Berly

Like there's a word for it. I know. There is I'm not an interior design. I don't know. A room separator room. thingy. You know, I can't think of the word or it's like beads or a panel or Yeah, yeah. I wonder if there was a reason for that set design wise. Maybe it made it like that section could pull away really easily. Yeah. So that they could get the camera where they needed it to? Because it it You're right. It's almost every motel room. Has this kind of foyer a

entrance thing? Now that you don't really actually see in most hotel rooms? No. Well, me I adore the foreshadowing in this episode.

LA

Oh, yeah. Well,

Berly

I don't know about that. You don't know about that. And to be perfectly honest, I don't fully know about that, either. Because by the time I started paying attention to the show, a lot of the stuff had already come into play. And I'm not sure I understood what was happening. I shouldn't say I'm not sure I know. I didn't fully understand what was happening. I don't have enough information to connect the dots is what I'm saying here. But I know there are dots to be connected, if that makes

sense. Yeah. And so I adore that about this episode. And the vulnerability of the Winchester brothers at the end of the episode. Yeah, I adored that as well.

LA

It was it was a heart wrenching. No, no. It was it was a touching moment. We did

Berly

both look at each other and like frown during that whole section and like hold our hearts like

LA

oh, like it's so sweet. But sad. And yeah.

Berly

And Sammy in the white scrubs. Yes, you you really liked the beginning of the episode. I adored that as well. We rewind happen a few times. He just looks so big. No, Gore, no, no. So on to the lore. So

LA

the lore I was gonna there, we did have a bunch of Bible verses about what these kind of people refer to as like taking it upon themselves to do God's will and, and kill these people or whatever. But I don't think I'm gonna get into that. But there are, I mean, there are Bible verses that we found that talk about taking upon yourself this kind of murder and things like that and just like getting vengeance. Yeah, yeah. But also the fact that like, it's God's job to you. You don't take it

upon yourself. God will take care of it and all that kind of jazz.

Berly

Gotcha.

LA

I'm on a darker note. I wish I could say a lighter note. We did. Well, Burleigh found an article from the from Florida, fitting about a man who committed some murders. And he proclaimed that he was a prophet, not a serial killer. This was in Winter Haven. It's called a Winterhaven double murder suspect claims he is he

claims he did it for God. Polk County, Florida, which I feel like watch a lot of crime shows and a lot of stuff goes down in Polk County, specifically Florida, Polk County, Florida. Yeah, I feel like I've heard Polk County a lot and these crime shows I watch

Annie, who 35 year old Stanley moss Berg was booked into jail in 2019 October of 2019 for killing at least three people from what he said that God needed him to do because God needs them for the war.

Like the the Apoc Phillips

will know we'll get to it. He just says, he says, I'm not a, I'm a prophet. I'm not a serial killer. I'm doing what God tells me to do. Y'all will see God and there's going to be an Angels and Demons fight from God, there's a war, everybody will see it. This is what he said. Now, he had an exchange with the press, he had a bloody bandage on his forehead. And he was smiling. And as they were speaking to him, he seemed confused, at times stared down at journalists, they could not

get like a motive out of him. So they went to the neighbors of the victims. And they said that they're still in shock and trying to understand how this evil could have been ended up in their community. And so I was a little confused, because in this article, it says that he killed three people. But when they talked to these neighbors, they're only talking about two

people. Stanley killed his neighbors and his friends that were named Peggy and Ken next door, and there was actually one person to survive the spree, the killing spree. It was a guy and he was frantic, he came over to their house, and they didn't believe him. At first, they were like, You just seem to crazed. And it just seems so far fetched. They didn't want to believe it. But Tom Cole was the one who identified it was identified as a survivor. And he's been in that neighborhood

for nearly two decades. And it was around 6pm on a Monday that he came banging on Bob Strauss his door for help. Strauss said it's really scary to know it could have happened to anyone here. You know, that evening, I was getting a glass of water. And I saw the light on over the office and found out later that all this was going on at that exact time. But you look you see like curtains drawn and you don't think about anything? Turns out Stanley had tied up Peggy and Ken and stabbed them

to death. And

what that just made me think of that movie The strangers. Oh my God, when I was reading this article, that's what I thought of too. Oh, and it just and it gave me nightmares. And it made me so uncomfortable.

LA

Yeah. And they the sheriff Grady Judd is who was commenting on this. And he said, Because I guess the man can fought back that Stanley made him suffer even more before killing him. I mean, he doesn't say how but I don't know. I don't need to know. Yeah, less than 24 hours after their search, they found Stanley. And the neighbors want to focus on the the attention to be on coal. He since he was the lone survivor. He's he was a man

in his mid to late 60s. And he had already survived cancer, and now also like a double murder that he could have been involved with as well. And again, no motive was ever addressed. Or that he there was even a link to this Stanley person to these people. Bob, the neighbor said that Tom seemed to be in decent spirits for what he went through. You know, I don't know how you're supposed to act when you go through something like that. But he has no money. He

has no car. He has no support only his neighbors who are very supportive. And they set up a GoFundMe page for him to help and that the last they said was that the neighbors were now feeding coals, animals and trying to help him clean up the crime scene. I mean, I guess there are people out there who believe they're doing God's work by murdering people, like they did in this episode.

Berly

Yeah, I mean, there are people who kill in the name of God. We call them terrorists. Yeah. Well, to close it out. We have a quote from when Sam is first talking with Dean about the possibility of whether or not they are currently hunting an angel. Sam says Dean, there's 10 times as much lore about angels as there is about anything else we've ever hunted. And Dean says, You know what, there's a ton of lore on unicorns too. In fact,

I hear that they write on silver moonbeams and that they shoot rainbows out of their ass.

Berly

As Sam says, Wait, there's no such thing as unicorns?

LA

Oh, sure. Oh, those two?
