Berly

Music. Welcome to denim wrapped nightmares, Tipsy exchange Podcast where we explore the supernatural series, episode by episode, over

LA

drinks, we'll discuss the lore the gore and what we adore about the Winchesters and their adventures.

Berly

I'm Burleigh and I'm a new fan of the series.

LA

I'm LA, and I'm here along for the ride. Now let's get

Berly

tipsy. Hello, LA, hello Burly. So did you end up having nightmares after last week's episode?

LA

I didn't, surprisingly, yeah,

Berly

I totally thought you would. I did too. Very worried about those bugs? Yeah,

LA

there's not any other ones like that. We

Berly

got 15 seasons to get through. There's bound to be more, more bugs, more creepy crawlies. At some point, I would think so. On our episode last week, Dean and Sam had to fight a battle of the bugs, so to speak, due to a new housing development being built on sacred Native American land where a tragedy had occurred and it was cursed that nature would take back the land from the white man, from the White Man, they had to fight off a deadly swarm of bugs and help save a

family. And also, during the episode, Sam let go of a little bit of anger,

LA

oh yes,

Berly

he softened a little bit to the idea of going to find his dad, and he wants to tell his dad he's sorry for being so angry and resentful for all these years. So it's grown up becoming a man that little Sammy. But this week's episode that we're going to explore, la tell us about home,

LA

home. We start out at their the boy's childhood home, which I guess we don't know about in the beginning, but right, it's Jenny. She's new in town with her little kids. In this house, we see her daughter, who's what, maybe, like, six ish,

Berly

yeah, she was young.

LA

Yeah. She's in a room, nice room for a little girl, big old closet,

Berly

massive walk in closet. Well,

LA

we don't see the closet just yet, but her mom's tucking her in for the night, and she's scared that there's something in her

Berly

closet, right? But the mom does open the closet at that point to check and make sure there's nothing in there. She goes in and says, that huge. Oh,

LA

I know I was like, damn, yeah, nothing bigger than my closet. It's like a separate room. But yeah, she goes in and says, you know, boogeyman, nobody's in there. Leave. Starts to leave, and the little girl asks her to put the chair there.

And Jenny goes, gets this little chair, like a wooden chair, and sticks it up underneath the double doors of the very nice closet to try and stop the monsters from being able to come out after that she Jenny goes back downstairs, and she's just heard, I think, in the living room or kitchen, yeah, she's somewhere with boxes unpacking, yeah, oh, that's right, because she's looking at a picture of her wedding photo with her husband, and she's all teary

eyed, right? I think that's actually the very first, well, in the whole episode, I'm like, where, what happened to her husband? They

Berly

never tell I know. Did he die?

LA

Did they get a divorce? Did he just, like, take off? I mean, it's a mystery. Yeah, that was

Berly

weird to me. And then the little scratching noises started, yeah? And those were enough to make me like, yeah, squirm a little. I didn't like them, yeah, like, so

LA

she goes to investigate, goes down to the basement. Because if she thinks, she thinks, if the rat, the ratchet, if they're rats, they're gonna be down in the basement, keeps going up my nose, oh no, she heads down. Of course, the light isn't working in the basement, you know, always, because it's a

dark, scary basement. Uh, she's looking around, and she finds a little trunk and opens it, and it's old photos, and there's a picture of the Winchesters when the boys were young, and on the back, it says the Winchesters, and it says each of their names, and she just kind of smiles and then goes back upstairs.

Berly

In the meantime, the little girl is upstairs and has been woken up by the sound of the chairs sliding across the floor and her double doors to her closet swinging open,

LA

we see like a figure, or what looks like, it's starting to be a figure in flames, like just engulfed in flames. Yes, and then the little girl screams,

Berly

of course, yeah.

LA

She was a little slow to scream. Though I remember I made notes, she's a little slow to react. I would be terrified. So then cut it. Cuts to our boys, and they are in a yet another hotel motel room, searching for odd stories or whatever it is they're always looking out for, well, because they're always looking for stuff to that might be dad related. Yeah. First

Berly

it showed that Sam had a nightmare.

LA

Oh, that's right, he wakes up. Yeah, he basically wakes up from the little girls screaming.

Berly

That was from the mom. Shows the mom screaming in the bedroom window and pounding on the glass. It like did a like, cut thing. And then it shows that. And the only reason I remember this is because, yet again, we get an almost shirtless Dean, because he's laying on his stomach on his bed and like the lighting is just so that you can see he doesn't have a shirt on, but we don't really get to see anything. And Sam, who gets woken up out of his dream and sits up really

quickly, has a shirt on. Yeah, so that's why I remember that? Okay,

LA

well, Dean is looking stuff up on the computer. Sam is drawing a tree over and over again, like multiple times. Dean's trying to get him interested in whatever he he found a story wise or whatever. Sam's just stuck on this tree and he remembers. He thinks it's the tree from their old house. He's just convinced they need to go, go back, like he he confesses to Dean that, finally, yeah, that he is having these

kind of premonition dreams. And finally tells him about Jessica, that he saw that whole scenario happening days before it happened to her. And so this is, this is maybe, like, second or third time.

Berly

I mean, yeah, because we found out about the dreams in the Bloody Mary episode, yeah, so that's where he admitted it. Well, he didn't admit it, but Bloody Mary taunted him with it that he knew what was going to happen to her and didn't do anything. I don't think that we've actually gotten to see him have a dream of a character like this before, where it showed his dream, and then by the end of the episode, we see that dream

come true. I don't think we've got I think this is the first time we've gotten that besides Jessica. I think so yeah,

LA

well, because we didn't see him having the dream, right? We were just okay. We were

Berly

just told that he did. Yeah, so technically, you're right that it's the second time he dreamed something and it came true. This is just the first time we're getting to see it. Okay?

LA

So Sam is convinced that the dream is real, since what happened with Jessica was happened. And he tells Dean that they've got to go back they've got to go back home. And Dean is not having it.

Berly

He had seemed scared. Yeah,

LA

I know I was, I was like, it's like, kind of one of the, I mean, he was, I feel like there's another time he's vulnerable, but it's he was a

Berly

little phantom traveler when he was scared to fly, yeah,

LA

but yeah, he was, like, really freaked out at the notion of going home. He was, he finally confessed that he promised himself he would never go back there. So that makes sense. And I mean, I'm sure that was very traumatic experience for a little boy,

Berly

right? Because he seems to remember it. Yeah, that would be really traumatizing idea. And also, he does make kind of a little pop culture reference where he says, you know, you've got the shining, when he's talking to Sam, you just told me, you've got the shining. And I think it's funny that way. Later in the episode, there's an incident where they're trying to get in somewhere, and Dean picks up an ax and is going out of Oh,

yeah. I was like, is that a purposeful parallel to the shining, which was mentioned at the beginning of the episode, or just a coinciding probably,

LA

who knows? Somehow, Sam convinces Dean that they're gonna go and then we're at a gas station, and Dean tells Sam he's got to go to the bathroom. Lion lying to his brother that lion Dean, he heads behind the gas station and makes a call to daddy, and just basically tells him he's with Sam. He's a little worried they're heading home. I mean, that's pretty much it. He does get a little emotional interior eye, though, when he's talking to his dad's answering machine.

Berly

Yeah, I think he's still stressing about going back home. Oh, yeah, that he doesn't want to do that. Yeah. So he's doing the only thing I think to do. Can you please stop this for I don't want to fucking do this. Dad call me back. Then they're

LA

at the house, which we now know is their childhood home, and Jenny answers a door and they it's funny, because Dean starts to lie, like he's like, automatic telling somebody who who they are. Then Sam busts, and he's like, we're the Winchesters, and just tells them, tells us straight up who they are, which is good, because she's like, Oh yeah, I I found some of your stuff last night. That's so weird. What a quainky

dick. But yeah, I thought that was really funny when Sam just kind of bursted out and he was like, Nope, we're not lying this time.

Berly

Well, I mean, he fibbed a little. He said we were in the area. Oh, I mean, you'd grow from another state to be here, but we'll, we'll let it slide. Yeah,

LA

they just ask, you know, for nostalgia's sake, and they come in and take a look around, and she lets him come in, and she shows him little Richie in his little baby jail.

Berly

She calls him a juice junkie. Isn't that what she said?

LA

And then she was like, he's a little bit of it, because he's like, juice, juice, juice. And. She says, yeah, he's a bit of a juice junkie, but I guess, you know, at least he won't get scurvy. And I was like, What is scurvy even around anymore? And I thought it was, I mean, I didn't know his juice that prevents it. I don't know. I just, I was like, that's just seems like a very odd statement.

Berly

Only reason I know that orange juice can help prevent scurvy is because of our flag means death. I always thought it was lemon juice when they ran out, they ran out of oranges, and then we found out why it was so important for them to have oranges is because that one guy on the ship had scurvy.

LA

Weird. They kind of casually mentioned that, you know, some weird stuff used to happen. And she starts going into little details with scratches, and the dishwasher has stopped working for no reason, and blah, blah, blah. And Sam's like, real into this conversation. She's like, Oh, yeah, tell me more. What else. So

Berly

was Dean's team. Was like, ah, yeah, yeah, what else? Give it to me, what else. And she's like, I'm sorry, this is your childhood home. I shouldn't be complaining. But the thing's backed up, the lights flicker on and off and all that stuff. Yeah. Then the little girl is like, ask them if that thing lived in their closet. When they were here. Sam was basically like, no, nothing was in our closet. Because the mom basically nudged them that way, being like, of course not. Of

course, not. Nothing was in there, right? Yeah, they

LA

just have their little chat with her visit. And then they're at their dad's old garage, I guess that he owned, with this guy, just trying to kind of get a feel for what happened that night, what how was he afterwards? And the guy just basically says he was a great guy. Loved his wife, his kids, but after that, he went crazy. Yeah, he wasn't so good. And he just casually mentions that one time he went to go see a palm reader that catches their it was a dean or Sam, I don't know one

of them. They're like, Oh, interesting.

Berly

So what was their name? Do you have a name and exactly now. So

LA

instead of getting to the laptop and looking it up phone the phone booth and the giant phone book to find the psychics,

Berly

so Sam was reading them out loud, and he got to Missouri, and Dean went, Wait a minute, and he got their dad's journal, and on the very first page of the journal, it said I went to Missouri to find the truth. Yes. And Dean was like, I always just thought he meant the state, but maybe this is what he was talking about,

LA

and he was right, because they go to see her. And I love the actress of pleasers,

Berly

Loretta Devine. I wrote it down. I love her. I hope she's a recurring character, yeah, that'd be nice. I really like she's always

LA

good in everything she does, but, and I really like her voice, it's very like,

Berly

yeah, soothing. And she was like, You boys grew up handsome.

LA

She's damn right. I mean, Missouri got eyes. Daddy was good looking, right? But, yeah, she immediately knows who they are, even though she hasn't seen them in years. And I don't know if she ever saw him. I guess she probably never saw him since he went to see her after

Berly

Well, I mean, he still had his kids, but anyway,

LA

who knows? And she's just straight up on Dean's ass right off, like she gives him shit the whole time. And I was like, damn. She's sweet as could be to Sam, but she's not taking shit from Dean. I mean, I loved it when she What did she say? What was the first thing she said, Don't you put your feet on my table. It was like, I didn't. She was like, You were thinking about it. And he's like, Well, damn. Which I was like, I was like, Bitch, Don't be reading my

thoughts. It's invasive. You're right. How

Berly

John finds out that there are all these supernatural things in the world is because Missouri tell them, like she said, that she basically opened his eyes to what all's really out there. Yeah, but she doesn't know exactly what was in their house. She just knows it was pure evils. Is basically, in a nutshell, what she told them, I think, yeah,

LA

that okay. And then one of my, I shouldn't say my favorite parts, but we go back to the house, and Jenny had to call a plumber for that sink that stopped working, right. And so he's there, and there's that creepy clapping monkey that goes off out of nowhere that next to him in the kitchen, and Sam's baby, jail or not? Sam, oh, my God, I'm thinking my my nephew is because he has one of those. And like my, my stepsister calls

it his baby too. So Richie's has this little monkey in there, and the guy looks at it and it stops. So he

Berly

squeaking and hitting its symbols. Yes, I

LA

don't know why. I don't like it. Just creepy toys are creepy toys. Children can be creepy. Yes, and he does everything right? He does the pipe underneath. He takes he unplugs it. He even checks the light switch make sure nothing's happening. I have a very big fear of putting my hand down to. Uh, disposal. And of course, what happens? It starts eating his hand, and the amount of blood, a chunk of

Berly

stuff like, shoots out of the past his face at first, like a chunk of something. I was like, What the fuck was that? And then it cuts to

LA

below. We see it from below the sink. And it's just like gushing this, just like column of blood. I'm like, he would be dead in seconds if that much blood was coming out of him that fast.

Berly

Now, this was the only gory thing really to happen in the episode. So I guess they decided, let's go for it. For sure it was. I

LA

mean, that was the first thing I noticed. I was like, that is an ungodly amount of blood coming. There's a lot of blood one arm,

Berly

and it cut back to his face, and another chunk of something flew past him.

LA

Oh, my God, that poor man. And any and then Jenny's on the phone with the company the next day or so, and, you know, she's, she doesn't have freaking money for a lawyer for this guy. Wasn't her fault. That happened. I was disconnected. He disconnected himself. Yeah, and the boys are at the door again with I was gonna say Loretta. Is that? What was her name? I know it's Missouri, but what was the actress's name? Loretta was the actress. Okay, that's why I

wanted to say that. Then, okay, Dean starts just asking her if they can come in. She says, it's not a good time. But he starts to press and Missouri just smacks him upside his head, tells him to lay off. Don't be rude and say again. Sam smiles about it. He really, he's really enjoying the torture she's giving to Dean sweet Missouri just tells her, you know, hear me out, there's something about this house. And Jenny's like, what? She's like, I think, you know bitch, right? I know what

I'm talking about. She doesn't say that, of course, but so they go in and she's walking around specifically in the daughter's room, and she tells them that it was Sam's nursery, so that's where everything went down. And she says there's definitely an evil presence there. She said she did say plural, that there's more than one, so it wasn't just one, even though that's all we saw with the little girl,

Berly

right? She said that there was an evil presence there and something else that she couldn't quite peg what it was, but she knew that neither of them were the evil that had killed their mom, right? Once

LA

they're down at the house, they're at Missouri's again, and she's got all these trinkets and spices, sage, yeah, all this stuff laid out on the table, magical ingredients. And she is giving them this concoction to make up and put in these little bags and tie them off. And she says that we're going to put these in the walls of all the rooms, and that should purify the house of any of the evil that's there. That's all they

have to do. Which Dean's like, I'm sure Jenny's gonna love us, putting holes in the walls. Which I was thinking the same thing. I wonder what they actually told her, because I don't really show it, she just opens up her home to these strangers, basically, and they're like, can you please get the f out? Yeah, we need to do some shit in your house. Like, I don't know, but I'm sure she's probably freaked out by the stuff that's happening Missouri. Basically tells her, you know,

don't worry. Go take the kids to a movie. Once you're back home, everything will be fine. And then they get to work in the house, just busting through the walls with a little AX, Sam in the kitchen.

Berly

Dean was in the kitchen. It was dean in the kitchen because Sam was in the bedroom right where once the ghost was like, Oh, what the fuck are these people doing? I'm gonna stop them. Of course, Sam got all tied up by his neck again.

LA

Well, in Missouri, Missouri was down in the basement, and her, her little bag got like, sucked into the wall, and then she got the whole some like, like a dresser, a dresser slams into her. Sam is getting like, strangled by a lamp cord,

Berly

and he, Jared had Lucky's really good at like, tension and like, pretending that something's holding him because that lamp that was behind him on the floor was not moving. Oh yeah. So that was all him, pretending that something was holding him tight, reaching and all that. And it reminded me of skin where, when he was all tied up and be like, oh, and try to get loose from his bonds. Oh, yeah, I could watch Europe had a Lecky try to get loose from something all day. I was

entertained. And then dean had fucking knives flying at him. Yeah, one

LA

like barely missed him. And then I like, he throws her like table over in that's in the kitchen, and they just start flying into the table, which I the whole time I'm thinking, I hope they're going to fix these holes and get her a new table. I mean, I'd be pissed if I came back to all this. No, um, Dean hears Sam struggling upstairs, right? Runs up. Save his saves his little baby, saves little signs he throws the. Little, little thing in the wall, and it releases, and he saves his baby,

bro. Then they're all assessing the damage in the kitchen, the three of them, that's what I

Berly

was about to say, is that she wasn't mad. But then Missouri was just, I remember Sam being like, we'll pay for everything. And Dean made a face. And then Missouri was like, Dean is gonna clean everything up for you. And Dean made another face, and Missouri goes, Don't you cuss at me, yeah,

LA

which I feel like for what we saw, went down in the kitchen, there was a lot more mess all of a

Berly

sudden. Yeah, the fridge was open. There was food on the ground.

LA

But anyway, so they take off. Jenny's like, Thanks. Thanks Thanks a bunch. Thanks for fucking up my house, getting the spirits out

Berly

right. And Missouri was like, yeah, they're all gone. But Sam, obviously, Sam was uneasy. Yeah, he did right. He

LA

was like, Are you sure? He seemed hesitant, yeah. So they decided, I guess, that they had talked with Jenny, that they were gonna just maybe chill out front for a while, make sure house is good and whatnot. And so the boys are in the car, chi, chi, and Dean's like, remind me why we're still freaking here. And Sam is just, I'm just, I don't know, man, like, I dream

it hasn't come true yet. And then we see Jenny in bed reading her parenting magazines, and she has a pile next to her bed, and she puts it down, goes to sleep, and the bed starts a rocking,

Berly

really, like, dramatic, like, like, it's going crazy.

LA

Yeah, it's not like, one of those water beds. No, she runs to her window and is banging on the window, saying, Help Sam Caesar, and sees that that's his dream that he had, and they go running in which she doesn't lock her door, not safe.

Berly

I was about to say that. I was about to say, remember, you pointed out she didn't lock her door. They were able to just run right in, which is the only reason why we think that they must have talked about this beforehand, like she must have known, yeah, that they were going to sit out there and keep an eye on her because she knew to run to the window and yell, and the door was unlocked. So we think it was preconceived, right?

LA

I think they make a plan. Dean goes to get Jenny and Sam goes to get the kids. She can't get out of her room. She's locked in a room with that bed bedrock and everywhere. Dean kicks down the door, which there's weird editing something there. Really weird cut looks like he literally just bust down the whole door. But then it's like, still there you see that it's supposedly swung open, but I didn't see any swinging. They run out. Sam goes to get the kids, gets Richie first, then gets sorry. And

Berly

when he goes into saris room, the fire, the fire, fire there. Yeah,

LA

spirit, whatever. And he's like, Don't look. Don't look. He's so sweet. Dean and Jenny are outside, and they're just kind of like, standing there waiting, like, Where, where are the kids? Where's Sam and Sam? Sam does the same thing as Daddy did. He

Berly

did. He

LA

tells them, take your brother. Or to sorry. He's like, take your brother, go outside, run.

Berly

I

LA

mean, it's literally, it was so sweet. It

Berly

was such a parallel. We both looked at each other. We're like, oh, it's like, in the first episode,

LA

He's just like his daddy. So the kids come out. They tell Dean that something got Sam, because he gets like, sucked into the stairway or the kitchen somewhere,

Berly

yeah and the door slam, yeah, behind the kids, like the kids got out, yeah and the door slammed.

LA

Sam's getting his ass kicked in the kitchen. I mean, they, whatever it is, throws him into the cabinets. And I was worried about his hips, his back. I was like, they could have broken a hip, or a back or something. My God, with the Force, he got slammed into that thing.

Berly

And I'm sure it was a stunt person, yeah, but it looked like Jared Padilla, yeah. And I'm just thinking this seven foot monster getting thrown around into the kitchen cabinet. What? What

LA

is able to do that? What

Berly

is happening

LA

in the meantime, Dean, of course, has to go try and save his baby bro, and gets his little AX, like you were saying, starts whacking at the door, which the whole time I'm like, why is he not whacking the doorbell to get the door, or the doorbell the doorknob, to get that to come off, to get in,

Berly

right? And that's when we decided it must be like an intentional nod to the shining, since they brought that up earlier. But maybe it wasn't. Maybe Dean just isn't that smart. La, he

LA

runs in and sees that Sam is just smack against a wall.

Berly

Jared padelecki doing that tension thing again.

LA

He was doing it again. He's like, trying to pull his arm off of the wall. But can't he just land against the wall?

Berly

Maybe I do like Jared padalekli, defenseless and like, immobile. Oh

LA

yeah. What's that about?

Berly

Why do I like it? Someone's struggling. Oh, my God. What's wrong with me? We'll

LA

have to unpack that enough. I

Berly

don't know if we should.

LA

Gene comes in, tries to get him off the wall. They turn around and see the the flaming spirit again. And. And they're flaming.

Berly

They come in like, Hey, girl, hey.

LA

Okay, the flames, the man or the entity engulfed in flames there. Dean's ready to shoot. Sam says, No. Dean says, why? Sam says, because I know who it is. It

Berly

was very dramatic. Thank

LA

you. And it's mama. Turns out it's mommy. She's beautiful.

Berly

I didn't notice, like, obviously, it's the same actress from the first episode. I just didn't notice she's freaking gorgeous. Yeah,

LA

she, like, I said, I think I feel like she could play Robin Wright's sister. Yeah,

Berly

shout out. Samantha Smith, you hot, yeah,

LA

get it. Girl, why do I keep saying that?

Berly

Because we're old, middle age of women, and we say things like, you go. Girl, get it. Get it. Girl, and

LA

so she now she goes up to Dean,

Berly

like, a moment with Dean. He's like, mom. And she just kind of looks at it. She just says, Dean, yeah. And she's like, Dean, but she very specifically went to Sam, and was looking directly at Sam when she said, I'm sorry, yeah. So what's that about? What's

LA

she sorry for?

Berly

What'd you do? Because he looks confused, and she and she doesn't address it. She just says, I'm sorry, and then turns around to go save their asses.

LA

Yeah, which I well, but I was like, confused up until we were like, she started talking to another spirit. Because I was like, Is she the bad spirit in this house? Like she the one taking the in the kid's room and all this shit? I was like, what is happening? But then she turns around, tells whatever it is, like, leave my boys alone. Leave

my boys alone. Get out of this house and just like the flames go up and they disappear, then it flashes to the next day, Missouri's there, and she's definitely sure this time there's no more spirit. Yeah, and Sam kind of asks her what's happening to him, and she doesn't really have an answer

for him. I know I felt so bad for him, but she clearly knows that some he's got some powerful gift, because then she's back at home, sets her purse down and says that he has a powerful energy or something, and she's like but what I can't figure out is why he didn't even know his or he didn't Feel his own father's presence. And lo and behold, who's sitting on her couch?

Berly

It's John Winchester, yeah. And I remember, I remember whatever the credits were first rolling as the episode was playing, we saw guest starring Jeffrey Dean Morgan, and we were both like Daddy Winchester in the house. And I remember we were at the end of the episode, the house was safe, things were going well, and you going, where the fuck is Jeffrey or Morgan?

LA

But when it cut to her house, I was like, Oh, he's coming up. Yeah.

Berly

He finally appeared at the very end,

LA

and he basically asks her, you know, are you sure it was Mary? And she tells him, you know, she could slap him for not talking to his sons. And he tells her, of course, he wants to talk to his boys, but he can't.

Berly

He can't. He just can't, not until he learns the truth exactly which I thought Missouri knew the truth. Yeah, she's kind of in and out on her ability, right? Little inconsistent there Missouri,

LA

so that is home, yay.

Berly

I liked this episode. Yeah, I

did too. I liked it a lot. I liked going back home.

I liked seeing that Sam was kind of the one taking charge, yes, oh yeah. You know, Dean was more reluctant and scared, and, you know, hesitant, and Sam really taking charge. I love Missouri. Oh my god, yeah, she's the best part. I love her. I hope she's back more obviously, getting to see daddy when Chester was nice. So a lot. This was a good one. I really liked this one. Yeah. Now as far as lore goes, Do you remember my condo over off University? Yes, and the poltergeist I had? Thank

LA

god, yes, I still swear y'all were messing with us sometimes I swear

Berly

we weren't. And honestly, I think that I was just a super shitty roommate, and that the stress intention of me being a shitty roommate is what made the poltergeist happen,

LA

poor Libby, as it was in her room. I

Berly

know that's my point. Is. I think I stressed Libby out so bad that, because after she moved out, nothing happened. Yeah, it all stopped after she moved out, but we would see this black shadow figure walking across the wall. And I remember one night, my roommate and I took turns driving around trying to recreate the shadow of the person walking and multiple people saw this shadow walking

across. Was the room, the room at the end of the hallway, people would go to the kitchen, and if you were in the kitchen by yourself and leaned over in the fridge, you'd feel somebody tap your shoulder, and there wouldn't be anybody there. And I remember more than once I came out of my bedroom into the living room. We had a change jar in the living room, and there'd be change, like loose change, thrown all over the living room that me and my roommate, neither one of us did it. We would swear

we didn't do it. There was just a lot of stuff that happened at a very short period of time and again after she moved out, it was gone. So I think I had a poltergeist. Maybe, maybe, who knows? Maybe she was just fucking with you, maybe. But there was one time she wasn't there. Oh, she was out of town. She was back home visiting her family, and I remember I was sitting on my bedroom and I had the door open, and this was the only time I got so scared of whatever was in the condo that I

left. But I was sitting on my bed studying, and I had my bedroom door open, and I saw somebody walk past my door, and I didn't think anything of it at first, until I, like, called out to my roommate, and then there wasn't a response. And then I remembered she wasn't there, and I was home, home alone, but it was, it was in my peripheral vision, so I'm sure that's not a very reliable witness testimony whatever I'm doing right now, but it was a solid figure that I

saw walk past my door. Oh, yikes, and it freaked me out so bad that I had to leave. I called a friend and was like, let's go get drinks. I don't want to be here anymore. So are we talking about poltergeists? So we're talking about poltergeists and ghost lore. A poltergeist is German for rumbling ghost or noisy spirit. Okay, I didn't know that me, either it's a type of ghost or spirit that is responsible for physical disturbances such as loud noises and objects being

moved or destroyed. Most claims or fictional descriptions of poltergeists show them as being capable of pinching, biting, hitting and tripping people, but our poltergeist never did any of that, except for my roommate did fall in the shower one time, and she swears that she was pushed. Oh, wow, that she felt something nudge her that she wasn't she wasn't doing anything where she would have lost her balance on her own. That was the only thing that happened where somebody got

hurt. Poltergeists are also depicted as capable of the movement or levitation of objects such as furniture and cutlery knives or saw them knives getting thrown, as well as spontaneous fires and different electrical issues such as flickering lights. Oh, my goodness, does any of this sound familiar? La, oh my gosh. They have traditionally been described as troublesome spirits who haunt a particular person instead of a specific location. Some variation of poltergeist folklore is found in many

different cultures. Early claims of spirits that supposedly harass or torment their victims date back to the first century. Wow, it's pretty far back, but references to poltergeists became more common in the early 17th century. Now, according to the conversation.com Here are the eight most important things you need to know about poltergeist. Oh, okay. Number one,

LA

take notes people

Berly

parapsychologists can't agree on what they are. We need to know that, yeah. This is number one of the eight things. Some parapsychologists view poltergeists as a type of ghost or supernatural entity which are responsible for psychological and physical disturbance. However, others believe that such activity originates from unknown energy associated with a living person or a location. Skeptics, on the other hand, prefer mundane explanations, such as attention seeking pranks

and trickery. You listen to you being the skeptic over there, thinking that we were fucking with you every time we were talking about our poltergeist number two, poltergeists tend to prefer women to men. Of course, a person focused poltergeist tends to but not always, involve a female adolescent who is suffering from emotional turmoil

when the act. Begins. So this is why I totally think that maybe just because I was a super shitty roommate, that that's why the poltergeist, it was really bad roommate, guys that said, however, not all so called focal agents are teenagers. William G roll a pioneer in poltergeist research, found the age of people reporting experiences of poltergeist activity ranged from eight to 78, years of age. It's a big range, the big ass range number three, some of the best poltergeists are thought to be

fake. What a thought. In 1967 at a lawyer's office in Rosenheim, Germany, strange things started to happen in the presence of the 19 year old Secretary Anne Marie, paintings and overhead light fittings started swinging while fluorescent tubes unscrewed themselves and massive spikes in electrical activity

occurred. The speaking clock was also called multiple times per minute, and furniture was moved the police, utility company officials, physicists and parapsychologist Hans binder investigated without explanation, but many believe it was a fake, all due to hidden nylon threads, especially given that the incidents stopped when Anne Marie left the firm In early 1968

LA

number four, poltergeist

Berly

like to mess with your stuff. Oh. Poltergeist activity typically starts with minor, isolated incidents. This could include unexplained sounds or familiar objects, such as your keys being moved from their usual place. But while poltergeist activity is typically short lived manifestations typically lasting around five months. Some cases have persisted for several years. I would say that's about how long our poltergeist stuff lasted. Was like six

LA

months. Oh, really, yeah. Seemed like it was longer than that. I

Berly

think we just talked about it a lot, maybe, uh, number five experts are still undecided about the infield poltergeist. One of the most famous poltergeist cases to happen in the UK involved the Hodgson hogson hod hodgeson, H O, D, G, S O N, yeah. Sure. It involved this family and their newly occupied council house in Enfield, North London, between 1977 and 1979 it was the scene of demonic voices, objects moving without explanation, levitation and strange noises of

the non demonic type. I assume events focused on the two teenage daughters, Margaret and Janet, several reliable witnesses observed phenomena. These witnesses included a police constable, oppressed photographer, and investigators from the Society for physical while investigators did discover some evidence of pranks and fakery. It was believed that many of the poltergeists into incidents were genuine. Oh. Number six, some people believe that emotional stress can cause

activity. There you go. Oopsie. This theory known as spontaneous, recurring psychokinesis, suggests that built up stress unconsciously projects outwards in the form of mental energy, which affects the physical environment and produces the phenomena attributed to poltergeists. There's little evidence to support this notion. Number seven, others believe they are spirits of the dead. I don't think I need to give that an explanation. And number eight, skeptics put a lot of it down to

misinterpretation. Take the case of the women haunted by a ticking clock. It was actually discovered that the noise was created by a tiny insect. Oh, and this kind of makes me think of the ghost hunters. Did I ever tell you about whenever my mom and I went and did a ghost hunt with the ghost hunters? Yes, was on a ship, right? Yes, we had so much fun. It sounded like you

had fun. And I can't remember their names now, Jason and I can't remember the other one who I had a crush on, but I do remember one of them was talking about how they travel and how that he misses a home cooked meal, and my mom being like, well, next time you come to Dallas, you can come and stay with us. And I'll cook you a fresh lasagna. And I was just like, Mom, why are you inviting the stranger to come stay with you? I love it. It was it was fun. We had a lot of fun, all

right. So to close it out, we have a quote from Missouri. Oh, our favorite, Yeah, boy, you put your foot on my coffee table. I'm gonna whack you with a spoon. Cheers. Thank you for listening to denim wrapped nightmares. Follow
