Welcome to denim wrapped nightmares tipsy exchange Podcast where we explore the supernatural series episode by episode.
over drinks, we'll discuss the lore of gore and what we adore about the Winchesters and their adventures.
I'm burly, and I'm a new fan of the series.
I'm LA, and I'm here along for the ride. Now let's get tipsy. Hey, burly. really
aggressive. Yeah. Just even looking at you the way you just came out me. My
god. I'm sorry. I apologize.
That's okay. So we got two sad episodes in a row. I know. I can't help but feel a little down right now. I'm hoping that things pick back up a little bit soon. Well, it's the grieving Aratus it makes sense. Yes, there was a major death last week. We can't just
go back to laughs and giggles
Not yet. Not yet. Just saying maybe one more sad episode and then let's move let's move it along. I agree. I can take one. It's a fictional universe. We can we can rush them through the grieving process. Right? Yeah, it can still be kind of and plus they aren't. They aren't grieving in a healthy way anyways, true. Not to encourage it. But again, fictional characters. Yeah, yeah. Last week on in my time of dying. I know. We aren't Morning
John Winchester. But we do mourn the loss of that pretty face
that Jeffrey Dean. What isn't there a sausage? Jimmy Dean?
Yes, yes, there is a Jeffrey Dean sausage. If that's Jimmy Dean. There's a Jeffrey Dean want to? Okay, I
see what you did there. Yeah.
Get on my level ally. So in the episode, Sam, Dean and John, were left for dead after a demon plowed a semi truck into the Impala. They were rushed to the hospital. But unfortunately, only two of the three survived. Now, the Winchester boys, Sam and Dean are left on their own to hunt down the demon and get revenge for the death of both their parents. And Sam's girlfriend.
And side sidebar and Jessica, well and daddy sacrificed himself because he did
he did daddy did sacrifice himself and the cult to the demons in order to save the life of Dean. His true favorite. Dean Winchester has a sausage to
do. Well, and what did you read about Sam? Sausage?
It was a social media post. And it was two pictures that were obviously meant to emulate an article. I would like to know if this is a real article. But I think it might have been fake. I think it might have been a joke. Okay, you
didn't tell me that.
I thought it was kind of obvious.
Now I fully believed.
So there was an episode the firt I think it was skin. Okay, we're at the end of Yeah, cuz they're leaving Sam's college friend's house. Yeah, Sam was walking back to the car. And I just happened to note to LA that there was a little something going on with his walk. And then I happen to see this social media post very recently after that episode, which basically claimed that Jared Padalecki is well endowed. To the point that he tapes his
sausage to his thigh. Which I'm like, which drag queen told him to do it to his thigh because that is not the method, right? Yeah. Come on. Now, that can't be comfortable. I mean, I can't imagine either method is comfortable. But obviously one is proven to be okay, that people can go out and sing and dance and move around. And it's not on their thigh. Yeah, that's for sure. And I was like, That would explain that walk. Like so that's why I sent it was to reference the walk comment that
I made in the episode. So we need like,
confirmation. You told me confirmation.
So we need to know was that real? Okay, well, I'm just gonna believe it it we're just gonna believe it is. I mean, he is very proportionate otherwise, so
yes, he is. Right. I didn't in our one episode. He caused me to be like, holy like in such a way like I didn't even recognize my voice when I heard I was like, God, la like, chill out. Oh, my God.
Well, that was last week's episode. And moving into this week, the grieving is still very present. It is we started on on there. The funeral, right? The pure
Well, it started with the storyline, like a little.
Oh, yeah, I'll shut up and let you go into the ballet.
All right, so this week's episode was called a Everybody loves a clown, which is absolutely not true. I don't like it. We learned with John Wayne Gacy. No, not everybody loves the clown. You know, can't trust him started out. We're in Medford, Wisconsin. At Cooper carnival, there's a little family and there, you know, there's the rides it like, I guess you could say freak shows that are like to say that but you know, spectacles, whatever,
that they show off there. Yeah. And there's a little girl Nora. And her dad's talking about how he thinks clowns are creepy. And out of nowhere, she said, they're looking at a bunch of clowns. And then she's like, Mommy, look at that clown. And it points to this direction. And her mom doesn't see it. But she sees it. And she's like, What are you doing? Trying to scare your dad? Which I thought was kind of funny. Anyway, so then they they're on their way home,
which was like, what? How long did they stay at this carnival, it was daytime. And now it's nighttime theater. I
told you the show place. Whether it's daytime, nighttime, how long it takes to get from place to place. It's not important. So it's true church, it's fine.
So they're on the way home and out of nowhere, just randomly on the side of the fucking road. She sees the same clown and waves at her. And she mentioned that to her mom, and her mom's like, crazy. Talking about and then later that evening, little Nora's tucked into bed and she notices a strange shadow on her ceiling, which you noted like there's no way.
Well, I don't know it was a supernatural being I guess anything's possible. True.
It was a big shadow for a little clown. Yes, it was. And she gets out of bed and sees the clown waving from her. She unlocked the door. It was like, Hey, you want to come in. And the clown takes her by the hand steps inside, shuts the door. And then we learned the next day. A little more about it. But before that, we're back with our boys.
We get the supernatural upgrade, flash fire and all that difference is different this season to step it out. Yeah. And then we have the funeral.
It cuts to it's not a normal funeral. It almost looks like they wrapped him like a mummy. John. And they put them on a pyre, Pierre pyre, and they're burning him and Sam and Dean are standing they're both crying. And they were Sam seems kind of like more of a mess than Dean, which is Dean had like the single tear come down. Yeah. Sam asks Dean if their dad said anything to him before he died. A Dean kind of doesn't say anything at first, but then says no. Which we know is not true.
Yeah, exactly. Which we don't know what he said. Because he leaned over and it was just quiet. But he definitely told him something.
Yeah, he told them to watch over Sammy. And then he leaned in and said something else. Yeah, that we that remains a mystery. Yeah.
So then they're at Bobby scrapyard about a I'm guessing a week later, because certainly not the next day.
I think it actually said One week later, like, at the bottom of the screen, right.
And Dean's working on the Impala, which, I mean, I thought it was going to be impossible. That thing
within a week, he made some serious progress on that car.
So I'm like, Okay, if there's one way like, here's my thing, like, some people like Okay, great. You know how to work on an engine. You know how to change the tires, like the alignment or whatever. You also know how to put on the doors. Straighten out the frame. Yeah. And like, painted. I mean, come on. Anyway. Just Hey,
he's Dean Winchester. Oh,
true. He's amazing. I know, he can do anything.
Have you seen that jaw line? There's nothing man can't do. He's gorgeous. He's beautiful.
So Sam comes up. And he's like, ask him he wants help and beans. Like that's a joke basically, asking if I want help from you. Sam's kind of bothered. Like, I guess a little upset that Dean hasn't really tried to say any interested in going after the demon that killed their dad, and their mom, and Sam's girlfriend.
And it. Just, yeah,
I'm sorry. Just,
I mean, that's been Sam's whole since the pilot is that he wants revenge on this yellow eyed demon, you know, focused on the family. Sorry, that's not what you're focused on. Oh.
Call me out like that. Dean basically is saying that they can't have the demon because they have no idea where he went like he's gone. They have no leverage. He has the Colt. You know, I mean, daddy sacrificed the Colt and himself to the demon. So it's like, what? What do you expect? Like, what can we do? There's nothing to do
that. Even if we could find them. What are we going to do one? Yeah, what's the point right now? Yeah.
And Sam somehow has dad's phone and I love he's like he's just random. He's like, Hey, I cracked The code for his voicemails which, and like I would never know, it's ever my mom because I've literally set up passwords for her. I would never know other people's passwords and how to crack it. And plus, don't they have that thing like F for three times you're locked out? I don't
remember. There was a flip phone. I don't even remember
it. You know what, I take that back? Because this is wow. Yeah.
So it was a flip phone that he whipped out whenever he said he cracked the code. I was honestly sitting here thinking, Did we have codes we had to
interview? That's true. I don't think we did. Oh, my God.
But maybe maybe you could set up a code and I just didn't know about it.
So the he plays a voicemail for Dean and it says, Hey, John, it's Ellen. Look, don't be stubborn. You know, I can help call me. Sam somehow tracks the number to a location and they asked Bobby, if he has any running cars that they can take? And he says, Sure, sure. Do. It doesn't show that but in my mind, he's like, oh, yeah, boy. I got it.
I got just a ride for you.
And it's a total minivan with like the brand. Always exciting. Yes. Oh my god. I love it. And they pull up to this Roadhouse Bar Restaurant kind of thing. They come in and they break. Well, yeah, that's true. They break in which like, as you mentioned, like, Hey, guys, why don't you just come in, in hours, they're open, you have to break in. They walk in and find some guy that is basically passed out on a pool table. Ash, that's astir. Well, they don't know is this in the
front party?
And they're like, Well, I guess that's not Ellen. So then dean, Phil's poke in his back. And there's a lady with a rifle to his back and he is easy. He easily like flips it on her and out of fucking nowhere. She just slugged them out which I loved. He was like, he was like, you don't want to put a rifle in somebody's back because they can easily do this. And he thought he was so good. He grabbed the rifle from her and like, cocked it. And she just like clocked him.
Yeah, it was a great introduction. So good. Yeah.
And that's when he asked, he's like Sam out here.
And she gets the rifle back. She clocked some takes the time back and positive right back on him. And then
Ellen comes out with a gun pointed at Sam's back, Sam's head, hands are up. She realizes like they say Sam and Dean. She's like Winchester. And they're like, yeah, she's an old friend of dads. And her daughter who had the gun to Diem is Joe. So she tells them that this Roadhouse was kind of a place that a lot of hunters went through overtime.
And we actually found out later that her husband Yeah, who's dead and Joe's dad was a hunter also. So it makes sense that it was kind of a hunters hanging out. Yeah,
like they pass through this area and they knew this was the place to go and they congregated there, I guess. Diem who's usually like a creeper you like even called me. He's like, Oh, he's going to crate Boehner.
Well, it showed him distinctly checking out her ass as she was walking out and around the bar. That low jeans. Hey, it was the early 2000s We had those low rise jeans. Yeah, that's what was in fashion. They looked great when you were up and walking around. And the second you sat down your ass crack was out. Yeah. And unable to get other fingers in them. Yeah, you don't have to hike them back up. Oh, and they're coming back. I'm just like, No,
no. Why would you do that? Yeah, no, but they show him distinctly checkout harass. And then after she goes around the corner, then he's like sitting there kind of looking around and then gets up I think is a creeper creeper got a creep. He's
gotta go creep. He actually starts to kind of hit on her. But then he realizes like, Oh, I think he kind of realizes like, No, I'm not sure. I'm just not in that place.
Yeah, he was like, right. Wrong place. Wrong time.
Yeah. And then she, she basically says like, oh, well, you're not like all the others.
So she said, most hunters think they can get into my pants with some pizza a six pack and oh, one side of step one for
Right. Which we all know like, totally Dean's doing. Yeah. And so he kind of lays it out. He plays it off. Well, and but he's just, you know, baseless. Wrong place wrong time. Is dad just
true. And it's obvious that she doesn't want cheap lines. But it's also obvious that she has eyes and can see what's in front of her that Yeah, you can't miss that beauty. Like, please don't be a jackass on a creep. Please. Like, talk to me. I want your attention. But please don't be a jackass and have been there, right? I've been there. Yeah. You don't want to be disappointed once they open their mouth. It happens too often.
It's so upsetting. So after all, this they you know, basically asked Alan like, can you help us and she's like, No, I Can't help you. But ash can. And we learned the ashes guy that's passed out on the pool table. And he's a fucking genius and he wakes up and we see him he has no shirt on he has a cut off flannel. Button up a flannel on the sleeves are gone. No shirt underneath. He's got that typical like cross on him. He's got the shortest hair like it
was like it's it's a mullet. But it's just like super short, front all the way to almost the, like the whole front. It's not like how it used to be where like there's the top was short and the back was long. His whole front is short. And then the back is Ellen tells the boys he's a genius. Or I think it was Joe who cares. But what matters is he's a genius. Sam notices there's a folder behind the bar something that says murder
catches his eye. Ellen gives it to him and he takes a look and it's basically a unsolved police case that occurred not too far from the Roadhouse. They like it Park Sam's interested in we know like he probably wants to go investigate before they do that. They hand over this whole folder from their dad's research and everything to ash, which I'm like, That's pretty big of them to just take Ellen's word that he's a genius and hand all their dad's work over to him.
I mean, it's their only lead what else are they gonna do?
True, but I'm just like, that's just like such a big leap of faith like, because I just think that like especially Dean like holds all that so
tight. You know, while I'm back then it's not like people had photo copiers and stuff and write homes. It's not like Bobby was able to make copies really giving him the original. Yeah, so I see what you mean. Ash looks it over and he's like, there's no way you can track a demon like this.
And they're like, Okay, well, what can you do? And he says, give me exactly 51 hours. Yeah, 51 hours and come back. They take off to go investigate these. This clown situation.
Oh, and that's actually when Dean went and hit on Joe because the first thing he said to her when he sat down was so I apparently have 51 hours to kill. Oh, that's right. And then time to wait. Yeah. And then he decided to not be a creep. I got 51 hours to kill and you're literally existing within my proximity so
Oh, that's terrible. Well, but true. Hey, if he was existing in my proximity for 50 wide take advantage. There on the road to go figure out these clown murders and the the, the thing he took from Elon Sam took from Elon explain explains that there have been several murders over the past month in this one small town and the most recent murder occurring last week, which is what we saw in the beginning with Nora and her
parents. The suspect is supposed to be disguised as clown which they assume is from Cooper carnival because it was the only Carnival in town and like why else would somebody be in a clown costume?
We also learn Sam is afraid of clowns.
Yes, yeah. Dean, Dean mentions that zooms always been afraid of clowns, which rightfully so.
I love this tale tries to be like, well, you're afraid of flying. And Dean's like planes crash?
Yeah.
Okay, you cry it Ronald McDonald. There's a difference.
Well, you know what, Sam, maybe right after this episode. Nora was unharmed. Her parents unfortunately, were killed. And according to the cops, I think they said they were basically ripped to shreds. We learned later in the episode, like the kids kind of take the clown to the parents. I'm like, I hope to God that little girl didn't see
that happen. Right. Okay, you're right, because we did see in the little preview before it went supernatural. Yeah, it showed the little girl left the clown in the house, right? But then later we see the kid actually present the clown, bring it into the parents bedroom and be like,
we'll get to it will get
my friend.
The cops have no viable lead. But they do know from the little girl from Nora that it was a clown. She says it was a clown that came into the house, which How much are they believing? Right on and it's like they they think could it be trauma and she's just trying to say, Well, Sam and the little dossier that he got from Ellen says that there were similar murders back in 1981. At the bunker Brothers Circus. They're like, Okay, well, that's weird.
And I think you mentioned I didn't catch this, but didn't you mention it's like three, three murders.
That's what it said. Yeah, it happened every I think 23 years, something like that. Yeah. And that each time it was three Different murderers, three different locales. Three different families is always like a circus carnival, right? But they were trying to figure out what's the connection is it's not the same people, if it's not the same locale, and that's when they were originally thinking, Well, maybe it's a cursed object that somehow traveling.
Yeah, that's what I was about to
say. Yeah.
So the boys decide they want to go back to the carnival Cooper carnival and see about like, propositioning the guy for a job, just like kind of investigate throughout the grounds. And I thought it was funny there. It's the guy's desk, and then there's like a normal chair. And then there's a total clown chair. It's a wooden chair. That basically looks like you're just sitting in a clown's lap, and Dean racist to the normal chair to leave Sam and the clown. Yeah.
It was so bad as Sam was obviously uncomfortable. Oh, absolutely. I also liked that before they got to the office. It showed Sam outside being really uncomfortable. There was somebody not in full clown costume, but just like they just had the wardrobe on. They didn't have the makeup and stuff done yet. And they were walking by and Sam was obviously already getting kind of antsy and
uncomfortable. And then they went into a tent where there was a blind guy throwing knives, but they didn't know he was blind. And then dean totally puts his foot in his mouth by saying, Hey, have you seen Mr. Cooper? And the guy's like, not it's not a blind joke. And then a little person came in, and Dean said something about? I don't even remember what he said. But I use the word listen thing little
Yeah. And like, I was like, What are you saying little and Sam was laughing his ass off because Dean just kept putting his foot in his mouth. And he wasn't even really saying things. These These people were obviously picking on Dean and making him uncomfortable. And so I thought it was funny seeing Dean get bullied. He did not know what to do,
right? Yeah, no, he was very he was. He's very frustrated. Before we see the boys work, actually at the corner home, we do see another young boy, going through the funhouse, which, to me is so annoying, because he was on some sort of video game thing, not even paying attention to the funhouse. And his dad's like, oh, this was scary, like, oh, you should look. And the only time the little boy looks up is in this one window, which all this stuff's happening around him not paying attention
to. And he sees the clown and it waves at him. And he turns around to see his dad. He's like, Dad, I saw the clown and dad's like, there's no clown. There's no clown, but, but he basically says, well, it's clown like clowns are your friend. Not
true. And I thought it was funny that the little boy was ignoring everything. Yeah, there were scary things popping out. I mean, it was it was cheesy. It was a cheesy little funhouse thing. So I understand why the boy wouldn't be interested. But he was sincerely seemed scared after he saw that. Wow. Right. Yeah. So I thought that was interesting. Good for you. Rightfully so.
Yeah. Trust your dad thinks. You know, your dad tells you Oh, it's your friend. You know, it's okay. Clowns are okay.
No, they're not okay. No. Stranger danger. I don't care if they have makeup on.
So yeah, sure enough. We're back at Evans house. The little boy's house later that evening. And we see Evans dad in bed with his mom and he just kind of has woken up and Evans like Dad, dad. He's like he was my he is my friend. You're right. And Dad's like sleepy eyed. Like what? And you just see Evans little hand and enveloped by this huge, like, wow, on hand. Yeah, white glove clown hand, and he looks up at the clown and screams. So yeah, we all know he was ripped apart by that clown,
just like Nora's parents. So they got the job. And I guess they're basically just like kind of
janitors. Yeah, hon, they were just picking up trash, basically.
And Sam's going around with emf in the actual funhouse, seeing if he can get anything. He's not getting anything. But a skeleton comes down. And he he's like, What if there's an actual skeleton? Is that what it was?
Well, he like called dean. And then dean was kind of teasing him that he sounded flustered. Did you run into a clown? And Dean or Sam said, well, it was a skeleton actually. So Dean misunderstood and thought wasn't an actual skeleton, human bones. Maybe we need to look those bones. And so I think it was like a misunderstanding between the two of them, then they didn't really get a chance to clear up because the blind guy came up to Dean and was like, Who are you? What
are y'all talking about? Yeah. Why are you talking about human bones? What do you want? And so I think that it just kind of was a miscommunication that didn't get cleared out because they got interrupted, right?
And then they see a little girl like telling her mom Hey Mom, look at this other clown. And she's pointing to it and both boys like look in the direction she's pointing and they see nothing. So they know something's not right they follow them home. Creepy but blessing in disguise. And they see the little girl who is adorable even she's so cute. But they she basically is seen like, like she's holding somebody bigger than hers hand walking through the window. And so they
know something's wrong. So the boys break into the house. Dean has his assault assault rifle. rocksalt rocksalt. Yeah, I think Sam grabs the little girl and then dean shoots the clown. Thinking he got him but he falls to the ground and then comes back up. turns around, which I thought this was weird. Like, instead of just like going through the door, which is half like it's filled with glass. He breaks the glass and goes through through the door and disappears
when he becomes visible. Oh, that's
what it is. Yeah,
we don't know that he can go invisible yet. Yeah, we don't learn that until later. But that's why it was so confusing. Because like if you disappeared, why did the window shatter? Yeah. And that's why because he didn't disappear. He just went clear. Yeah. He didn't disappear. He just went clear.
I only mentioned this really quick that miss when they go to Mr. Cooper to get a job, Mr. Cooper's like, why aren't you guys out getting girlfriends going to school? And Sam is like, we don't want to go back to school. We don't want to, you know, we're not into that. And we don't know.
We won't want what? What we don't want normal.
Yeah. Which Dean is like, since when, like, Did you mean that? Like, what are you talking about? Because that's what you've been saying. To me. I'm like, it's different, like his dad died, but Dean's just like, Dean. So kind of like a backtrack. But after this whole situation happens with this family. I also I think I forgot to mention that I mentioned the minivan.
You mentioned the minivan and we haven't brought it up in quite some time. But
well, they decided to ditch it because the little girl's parents like busted out and we're like, what the? What the hell happened? Like get away from our daughter. And they're worried that they saw the minivan and the plates, which I highly doubt they did, but so they ditch it in this, like, under these trees and take the license plates. Sam keeps asking Dean, like, are you okay? Like, what? Something's weird. And Dean's like, if somebody keeps asking me that I'm gonna punch
them out. Which everybody else are way to grieve, like, you've got to respect that. And I think that I think that's very hard for people. Like, if you grieve in one way and somebody else does, you'd like you just can't be like, Why aren't you sad? Why aren't you crying? Like, it doesn't mean he's not sad. Yeah, you know?
Well, and Dean points out that Sam is projecting and I, I can be guilty of that. Because let me fix your problems. Yeah, I don't want to think about mine. I don't want to think about how I'm feeling and what I don't want to but I don't have to think about my pain. Exactly. Which didn't pause them out for it, you know.
So while they're walking after they dish the car, Sam calls Elon and asks her like her opinion on what they've found what they've discovered. And she says her best guess would be a rock shot. Rock, Sasha, a rock, Sasha, which is a race of Hindu creatures that take on human form and feed on human flesh. Rick Shazza wreck Sasha she works Sasha rock Sasha she says, All she knows of them is that they can be invisible, they can enter a home without being
invited. They live in squalor, and they sleep on beds of dead insects. Disgusting. They only need to feed a few times every 20 or 30 years which would make sense according to the show, if the circus back in 81 there were the murders and now I'm guessing this is what like
2006 2007 Something like that. Okay, yeah, that was the first episode with 2005 and she
suggests that they the only way to kill this this thing is with a dagger or knife made of pure brass, which was like brass. You never think of brass. Anything
was real convenient, how they came across
that way. So they realized like Cooper Cooper, who they got the job from, and I remember like when he was doing the interview that he showed a picture of his dad and he looked literally just like his dad. So they're thinking, Well, maybe it's Cooper, if he can make himself invisible. You know, maybe he doesn't age. And he's the only one that worked at both
shows that they know of. Dean decides to visit the blind knife thrower that he offended in the beginning to see if maybe he has a brass knife while he's in there. We see Sam sneaking into Cooper's off is looking for a bed of dead bugs so fucking growth Cooper came in and sauce them sneaking around his bedroom and put them at gunpoint. The so these were kind of happening
Simon, not Simon. We were cutting back and forth Dean is in with a blind man who is able to throw daggers at the same target like and and get it every time. Dean opens a trunk in the corner sees the clown suit realizes that this must be the guy and the blind man vanishes into thin air. Hey, he bursts out of the office meets up with Sam they both kind of come running out. I'm not sure why but they both decide to go into the funhouse.
Somehow they saw the blind guy go that way.
They go in there thinking they can probably trap the rock. Rock shot God damn. Rick Shazza bricks brick with an a rickshaw saya Rick Sasha they think they can trap the rook Sasha in the funhouse. But it it decides like it can be invisible and fuck with them. So it does. I mean, why not? So he starts throwing the knives and Dean again and kind of puts him up against the wall because it hits his shirt right?
You know how I liked them Winchester was up against against a wall
incapacitated and said Sam, which? Good thinking on Sam. Also, why the hell is there Oregon in this funhouse? I thought it was very bizarre, but whatever. But Sam, knowing Oregon, like the Oregon pipes made Nebraska brakes went off, which also, normally I'd be like, I'm gonna How did you break that off? But I've seen him without a shirt on.
It's Sam Winchester. He's,
he's got some gifts. Yeah, some spring. And he tears it off, not tears off. He like works at it and gets it off. He gets I could work
at it and get it
My God hold on, I gotta figure out where it was there. In the
meantime, Dean turns on, I guess it was like the fire extinguisher or something. I thought it was going to be water. But it was more it was steam.
Was that what it was? Yeah, it's some sort of event that he turns on. Yeah,
I thought it was going to be the fire I did to emergency thing. It's going to be water, but it was like steam or smoke or something.
And so because he like keeps mentioning like there's some way we need to be able to see him. So he turns that on. And you do kind of see his shape in the steam, which allows Sam to stick the spike of the Oregon into him.
He could stick his spike of Oregon into me anytime I say, right.
The rug Sasha start screaming after it was stabbed. And it ends up decomposing. And it's a pile of dust just in front of them. And it's close. Wasn't as close like laying there. Yeah, yeah, sure. I don't remember.
Job well done. Winchester boy. Yeah, as always way to work that Oregon.
Many others
Yeah.
So then they're back at the Roadhouse chatting with Ellen and Joe. And ash comes in after his 51 hours of research, and says that this demon is nowhere to be found. But he's managed to collate the existing data on the demon that we've talked about for like, electrical occurrences, weather anomalies, and cattle, mutilations, all that stuff to show that he's back on Earth. And he basically has a setup to where if any occurrence all over the world happens in any of these
instances, he'll be alerted. And they're like, dude, how, you mullet guy, no shirt. I mean, how did you do this? And he's like, he like, almost like a shame. Like shame. What is it? ashamedly? ashamedly, is that a word?
Okay? So
he's almost ashamed and saying it but he says he went to MIT before he was kicked out for fighting which if you look at this guy, he's a skinny little guy. So you wouldn't be like, oh, yeah, I could see that he got kicked out for fighting. No. And Joe tells Dean she liked to see him again. Even though he mentioned wrong wrong time, wrong place. And you can tell like he He probably wanted that but I I don't know. I feel like it's odd. He's this way after his dad died. but it makes
sense. He's still in a grieving process. So I'm curious to see how he is with the ladies going forward because he would totally be that guy with a six pack. Is that the Zeplin record and all that, that she said before?
Well, yeah, it's interesting to see that Dean is trying to handle his emotions responsibly, right. Like, actually, I agree what what seemed like was going to be his original impulse to Hey, I got 31 hours to kill, right? Let me you know,
but he like instantly, like realized like, or it seemed like anyway, he instantly realized like, No, that's no, I don't want I don't want that right now. Yeah. I like that kind of character. Mm hmm.
The unexpected. Yeah, development there.
It ends where we're back at Bobby's, which, I mean, Bobby wasn't really in this episode. Which I'm disappointed by cuz I really liked him. So I hope to see more which you've told me. I
know. We will. I don't know when but I know.
Dean's once again working on his Impala, which again, like, I don't know how, like, that's so much work. Like the car was
gone. Yeah, that's where he's burying himself. Isn't that Oh, or Not? Not? No woman. Yeah. Which his daddy gave him that car. So I
thought about that. Oh, god. Okay. Sam comes up. And I actually this was my favorite part of the episode where Sam basically just owns up to it. And he's like, Hey, like, I'm not okay. Like, you were right. Like, I fought with dad my whole life. And now I'm trying to make up for it, but it's too little too late. He probably died thinking I hated him. And, you know, he's just like saying, kind of, in a way apologizing to me, but just basically tell him he's not okay. Which is okay.
Yeah. And it's okay, for D not to be okay. But Diem. Can't take that. Sam is very honest. I thought it was really beautiful what he said, and Sam just kind of takes off. He does mention that he's just feels guilty as hell that everything that happened with him and his dad and how things turned out and then his debt. I mean, we don't Sam doesn't know at this point. That sacrifice sacrificed himself to save Dean. Right? I think there's a lot of feelings
on Dean side for that. For that he has to hide that from Sam, that dad put that on him. Like, there's so much underlying stuff. And when Sam locks off, Dean ends up busting out a window on one of the other cars. And then he goes to which I felt like this was telling because we've talked about the trunk so much just us. Yeah. But I don't I don't know that that's that big of a thing. But to me, I was like, oh, that's I felt like that was telling he beat this shit out of that trunk with the
crowbar. And which to me made sense, because that's literally everything he learned from his dad in that trunk. And so that's so telling, and so heartbreaking. That he just cannot figure out those
emotions. Well, and it just makes me all the more curious for what did John Winchester say to him?
Yeah. Well, you have to know like, you have to I mean, I'm sure he was like, Hey, your brother is somewhat different and you have to pressure protect him even more from what you already do for whatever he is. Also, hey, sorry, I kept that for me for all this time. Also, hey, I sacrificed myself to let you live to do all of this for me, like, come on. That's a lot. And also, hey, I'm your dad. And I'm basically letting somebody called me.
Yeah, you haven't. You haven't thought for yourself your whole life. You've just either been Sam's dad or my little soldier. Your whole life and here yeah, here's all this go deal with it. What would you knows? I don't know. Who knows. I want to know what he said. I want to I know I want to know what he said. Yes, me too. I hope we're told sooner rather than later. That's gonna drive me crazy. Yeah. Okay, so yeah,
onto the lore. Rock Shoshana has are a race of usually benevolent demigods, prominently featured in Hindu mythology. Now, they're also in Buddhism and some other stuff, but because the episodes specifically mentioned Hinduism, that's the realm in which I am staying for this war. Now, according to the broad mandap Parana hope I'm pronouncing that correctly. The Rock shadows were made by the Creator when he assumed a body of tamas, which was like darkness and not good.
The being springing forth and promising to protect the waters of creation. They are classified amongst the young 10 TAs. Oh, god dammit Hang on. Yeah, Ted Haanas. Mythical, which are mythical beings that consume raw flesh, which was mentioned in
the show. They're also often depicted as shapeshifting, fierce looking enormous, monstrous creatures with two things protruding from the top of the mouth and having sharp claw like fingernails, which, when he revealed himself to be the monster of the week, so to speak, his face did kind of warp a little. I don't recall seeing things or anything, but he definitely did warp into something way more sinister looking, and then an old man.
They were shown as being mean growling beasts, and as insatiable man eaters that could smell the scent of human flesh. Some of the more ferocious ones were shown with flaming red eyes and hair, drinking blood with their cupped hands or from human skulls. They're very similar to the representations of vampires in later Western mythology. Generally, they could fly vanish and had Maya which was magical powers of illusion. And that enabled them to have those two who really oh my gosh, you're so
talented. I
just have illusions.
I just have delusions.
That's what I did. Just cut all that.
But the magical powers of illusion enabled them to change size at will and assume the form of any creature, so I thought it was odd that he had a clown costume. Couldn't you just write yourself like gloworm? Oh, in Hindi. And Hindu epics, rock shows fought alongside the armies of both good and evil, so they weren't necessarily always
bad. They were powerful warriors, expert magicians and illusionists and a shape changers they could assume different physical forms as illusionist, they were capable of creating appearances which were real to those who believed in them, or who failed to dispel them. Some of the rock shows made their gleeful appearance when the slaughter on a battlefield was at its worst. Aside from unnamed rank and file
soldiers. The epics tell the stories of certain rock shows who rose to prominence sometimes as heroes, but more often as villains. And I pulled all of this from Wikipedia. They do have some samples of these epic tales, but they were filled with words that I'm not going to be able to pronounce. So I won't be discussing those today.
And I want to hear you I want to hear you say
I'm already having this a rock Shasha and I don't think I'm doing it.
I'm just getting
rickshaw rickshaw
Rick's she says so like,
I put it on slow because whenever Oh, have long been a race of villains in the dungeons and dragons role playing game. Really they appear as animal headed humanoids generally with Tiger or monkey heads. Hmm. And their human hands inverted. palms of his hands are where the back of humans are not where the back of our hands are.
Oh, I don't like that.
I don't like that. I
don't like that at all. Yeah, no, that freaks me out.
They are masters of necromancy, enchantment and illusion, which they mostly use to disguise themselves and are very hard to kill, especially due to their partial immunity to magical effects. They Robin lessly prey upon humans as food and dress themselves and find clothing. Because you got to look good if you're gonna go around like a bunch of
super fine clothing.
This version of the rickshaw saga was heavily inspired by an episode of cold shack the Night Stalker.
Oh, my God, which you
may or may not know from our pilot episode was part of what inspired Eric crypkey Eric supernatural. Okay, so that's Rick Shaw says, but there's something else I went ahead and researched. Yes. Do you remember back in 2016? When, uh, no, I think you're gonna remember this because it was all over the news for a few months, and then it just stopped. Okay. Were a bunch of people were dressing up as clowns.
Yeah, remember that? And they were like terrorized. Did they hurt some people? Yeah.
Like people were getting assaulted. They were like showing up with knives. There were some people that chased somebody who was dressed up like a clown with a knife and I think they ended up hurting the guy that was dressed up like a clown. Like it was on the news almost every night for a few months and then just stopped that there were just clowns every nobody
died though, right? I don't remember what it was like they were terrorizing people.
Yes. Okay. So Benjamin Radford, a folklorist, and author of 26 teens, bad clowns, did an interview with People magazine and broke down the spate of that year There's clown sightings everywhere from Georgia to Maryland to Oregon. I think we had one in Texas. Yeah, they were everywhere y'all. If you don't if you don't know about this, Google it,
y'all look at a book off.
So what happened in 2016 was a blend of two kinds of clown sightings. According to Radford, there are stalker clowns, or prankish and menacing figures who may turn up in parking lots or parks, and who turned out to actually have been someone dressed up as a clown, either as a kind of stunt or for publicity. And then there are phantom clowns, who are often reported or seen by children trying to lower or abduct them,
often near wooded areas. A stalker clown is someone who actually dresses as a clown to scare or prank someone. Such incidents have been made national and in some cases, international news. Radford said the first breakthrough stalker clown was actually in 2013 in Northampton, England, and what later turned out to be a combination of performance art
and a publicity stunt. Radford said phantom clown sightings are distinct from stalker clowns, and that there is never evidence the clowns were real with stalker clowns. The threat itself may be fake, but the person is real. What's more, he said, the majority of these phantom sightings are made by children and are about clowns trying to lure them away. In cases not with candy or toys, but with money. Hey,
money talk.
So I thought this was relevant is that it's these kids seeing phantom clowns try to lure them away that people are saying, oh, there's no evidence in the show. It's showing adults like look and be like, oh, there's no clown there. So I thought it was still relevant even though it's not the rock shots. Russia, Russia, Russia.
Rex, Rex, Russia.
As pieces of folklore, Radford said the Phantom clown sightings are fascinating. What happened to their
knighting I like that's an odd time. I think that's a new word past the night.
But as pieces of fact, they are bogus. The fact is, I'm being read for now. The fact is to date there are no confirmed reports of any clowns actually abducting harming killing or molesting kids read for said there just aren't there are zero. Okay. Which that's where I'm like, John Wayne Gacy.
I that's what I was gonna say.
What are you talking about? Mr. Expert?
I mean,
so, Radford said the Phantom clown sightings tend to be more common during periods of social uncertainty. And the 80s when they began, they coexisted alongside the Satanic Panic. And in 2016, America is once again in the middle of social anxiety. True story. But why did all these people feel the need to dress up like clowns? Yeah. Anyway, I thought that was interesting. Something to add to the lower there because I actually remember when that was
happening. I do too. Now that you reminded me Yeah, it's one of those things that just I didn't remember until we were watching the episode and then I started thinking about it. We'll close it out. I have a quote from Dean that I thought would be relevant after talking about the lore. I can't believe we keep talking about clowns. Cheers,
Agreed. Agreed.
