Welcome to denim wrapped nightmares tipsy exchange Podcast where we explore the supernatural series episode by episode.
over drinks, we'll discuss the lore of gore and what we adore about the Winchesters and their adventures.
I'm burly, and I'm a new fan of the series.
I'm LA, and I'm here along for the ride. Now let's get tipsy. Hello, la. Hello, Burley. Are you going to make it my own?
I cried. Again, had
to tell you a couple times to get it together.
Intense episode?
I have to say it's probably one of my favorite episodes really? So far? Really? Yeah. I mean, we'll get out into all of it. You want me to go out and do the recap and then we'll get into it? Yeah. All right. Well, the last episode was Oh god. Malleus Maleficarum and the guys were in Massachusetts, they discovered a covenant cavern of return.
Do we need to like just tell our listeners like we're we're we're we we drank we I always thought they knew. Well, they know we drink but like this is we drink Alright, are you
okay, back to it.
Molly, a small folk and Seema for Kira.
And that is not how I sounded. Malleus Mel. I
was. I wasn't I was just talking. Oh, okay. What did I sound here? I'm
just kidding.
Okay, okay. Yeah,
Sam and Dean were in Massachusetts, they discovered a covenant coven of witches that had already killed two people. Ruby shows up and warns the brothers that they need to get it out of town. There's this certain demon after them that this demon is actually controlling the witches that they thought they thought they were going after the witches ends up. It's really the demon that's doing all the bad stuff. But of course, they don't really
listen to Ruby. And they go in after the Coven and confront the head which she actually reveals who rubies Ruby actually is. And we learn Ruby used to actually be a person who did witchcraft and sold her soul to this demon. And then she was sent to hell where Ruby says, when you're sent there, you lose all your humanity. You don't remember that you were ever a person. But for some reason Ruby does remember. So she's a special demon.
And the demon revealed that Sam's got that big dick Magnum Energy.
No. She's what was their exam? Good dick. Work Magnum.
You got that? Good Dick magnets, not
what you meant. No. Good police.
She shook her finger like I keep doing
that either. But there was a good one though. That was a good episode. I liked it. Yeah, but this one, this one
was so intense. Yeah. Today's episode is dream, a little dream of me, which is the 10th episode of season three. And it premiered on February 7 2008. We originally start out with Bobby running around in a house. And we knew the house looked familiar, but we couldn't figure out where we were exactly. And this woman just jumps up out of nowhere and is attacking him and like slamming his head up against the ground
like he's really aggressive. And then the scene cuts away suddenly to umaid walking into a hotel room, which should not shouldn't do anything. She's just coming in. It's a very colorful motel room.
Yeah. Very jungle. Yeah. Inspired wallpaper,
like traveling with lots of greens and blues. really festive, little hotel room. And she looks over and she sees Bobby laying in the bed. And she's like, Oh, I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry, sir. And she notices that Bobby isn't moving at all. So she goes over to check on him. And she checks for a pulse. And she's like, okay, and then she's like, sir, wake
up. And he's not moving. And so she's like, starts shaking him and he's like, sir, wake up, and it's cutting back and forth between the maid who had a fabulous jawline. She had some great bones, beautiful skin. beautiful skin. This made was fab, but she is shaking. Bobby tried to wake him up and it's cutting back and forth between her trying to wake him up. And where he is getting attacked by this woman. And we put kind of put two and two together like oh, he's he's having a
nightmare. And then it cuts way to supernatural. Did you just snort a little
I did and I almost dropped my drink over.
Don't do that. Hi.
No under carpet. My God. It's bread.
So we cut to say I'm with his perfectly proportioned face, sitting at a bar. And he's sad. This was the beginning of your tear and he's drinking. I didn't cry yet because I was talking about his perfectly proportionate cheering up
at least,
he teared up. I didn't Oh, I
think you did at this point already.
Not yet. No, I was still talking about you did I was talking about your apologies knows. Maybe I was crying tears of happiness.
I don't think so I think at this point you were I think you had to take your glasses off and wipe away a little bit.
Not yet. Okay. I don't think I got like, I didn't have to take my glasses off to wipe away anything until toward the end. All right. So Sam is in a bar and he's drinking alone. Dean comes in asking him what he's doing drinking whiskey. It's only like two o'clock in the afternoon. What are you doing? And Sam just he's so sad. And I just want to hug him so bad or sweet Sammy, sassy pants. But he's so sad because he's coming to terms with the fact that he's not going to be able
to save dean. And he's also sad because he feels like Dean doesn't want to be saved. Dean doesn't have like really too much to say back to that he orders a drink himself and is joining his brother at the bar when he gets a call. Well, I
just before you get to that point. I kind of love that Sam like, he's obviously so upset. He can't save him. And he's like, what's wrong with you don't care that much about yourself at all? He looks like he's like how do you how can you not care about yourself? And like, he's just like, he's like, he said, What's wrong with and I think that's, that's when Dean was like, okay, double neat.
Thanks. I'm gonna join you. We're gonna have a drink.
It's gonna get a little real right now. Oh,
but Jared paddling has performance in this scene like, seemed like he was on the verge of crying the entire scene. Like it pulled at my heartstrings. Yeah, like I said, I don't think it was tearing up yet. I was but yeah, it made me sad. He made me sad.
We had to rewind. I did.
I did. Dana answers the phone. And he's like, Yes, this is Mr. Schneider person. Which I Googled Sanderson. I couldn't find anything. I was thinking like Dee Snider from Twisted Sister, but like, I don't think that's right. Because that's just Schneider. It's not Schneider said. And it's a alias Bobby with us. So I don't know, I don't know who side person is. That might not be anything, but he's like, yes. And he obviously seems alarmed with whatever news
he's getting on the phone. Then we cut to the hospital where the doctor has told them that Bobby is in a coma, basically, and that he doesn't know what caused it, or what they can do to get him to come out of it. Sam and Dean go to the fancy tropical motel room. And they're looking around checking in drawers trying to find out why Bobby was here. I think they were in Pittsburgh, trying to figure out why Bobby was there in the first
place. And Sam finds in the closet that Bobby has pinned up a bunch of shit on the wall as to why he was there. And turns out he was working a case
it reminded me of I forget what episode but where they found in the closets. The somebody had a whole collage of the yellow eyes.
Yeah, it was kind of a mix of that. And when they found that hotel room that their dad had been in, because it had the different articles and the obituaries and it was kind of a mix of that. Right?
I like that. Sam was like, Do you can you make heads or tails of any of this? And like he picks some stuff out and hands it to the dean. He's like, no, no, no, nothing.
He likes that the name of whatever the root thing is, which obviously means fucking nothing to me. You know, like it was, it was fun. Dean takes an obituary. There's an obituary that Sam handsome for some doctor, and he says, I'm gonna go look into this. You stay here and see if you can take hotels to everything else that's on the wall.
Clearly Sam as the researcher, and the family.
Well, he's Sammys sassy pants Sammy, smarty pants
on he went to college. So he knows how to Yeah, he went to source things down for
he could quote his sources. That's important. So Sam stays behind to try and see if he can make heads or tails of whatever Bobby has left in the room. And Dean goes on to look into this. Dr. Dean goes to the doctor's office. And it turns out, he's like a college professor. He has a research assistant, all this stuff. And the research assistant comes in. And she's kind of given a little bit of an attitude because she's saying I gave all this information to the other agent.
And he's like, whatever. Hmm. She's like, the adorable older man with the beard and the little cheeks that you just will always win know that. We're like, oh, we know that's Bobby. Dean kind of threatens her that he needs the information. And she's like, I talked to a lawyer, I can't be held liable. And he's like, Oh, well, but in light of new evidence, like I can't disclose it, but who knows? Like, you gotta give me all the shit give me all the research, all the shit that you
have from the doctor. So he scares her enough that she cooperates and gives him everything but it turns out, the doctor was conducting some research that wasn't sanctioned by the university. Nobody else knew he was doing it. And she didn't even know about it until she was cleaning out his files. So that's why Dean wanted that shit so bad. He wanted to know what is this stuff? That was shady. And the doctor was kind of doing like on the side.
I like their whole exchange because it's very obvious. He's he's totally winging it. And just like some of the stuff that she reveals he's like, oh, yeah, well, then this this. Like, I don't know. I just liked that scene with him how he played it out. It
was good. It showed how crafty he is. Right? Yeah, yeah, I was like, basically on your toes. So he was doing like the sleep studies and Dean goes and visits one of the people from his sleep studies, which was a college student there. He was like a ra. What was that resident assistant, whatever the fuck it is, you went to college. His name is Jeremy. And Dean
goes to interview him. And the first thing Jeremy does when Dean gets there, and he realizes that Dean's not there to bust him for marijuana is he offers Dean a beer, and Dean accepts said beer. And Jeremy says that he was in the sleep study. He had a head injury when he was a child. He hasn't been able to dream and like 15 plus years, he was given this tea that tasted like ass than the study was over. Like whatever he just like, I don't know, like the study ended. I don't know what
to tell you. So Dean just kind of left it at that. But they figured out that the tea was made of the Selenium, whatever, not selenium. That's a nutrient I was deficient in. I don't remember what it was that Dean said the thing that he said that he was like, Oh, that means nothing to me. But like its street name is African dream route. So he's back in Bobby's hospital room looking over him. And they do this shot where like, Sam comes walking up behind them. They turn and look
at each other. was just a cute little shot. It meant nothing, but I liked it. But it's
like, here we are again. Yeah, we already did this with our dad now our surrogate Daddy. Yes, yeah,
yeah, it was just like emotional. It was very short. But it was just emotional and sweet. Were Sam's coming in, and they just kind of looked at each other like, fuck. And so Sam tells Dean that he did research on all the shit on Bobby's wall. And he found about the African dream route, which allows people to enter other people's dreams. And Dean fills him in on what he found out about the sleep studies and what Jeremy had told
him and all this other stuff. So they kind of put two and two together, that someone killed the doctor through his dreams. And now they're doing the same to Bobby like keeping them asleep and attacking them in their dream.
Did they ever say like, how the doctor was killed? Like what he died of?
I didn't say specifically, it was just the research assistant who was like, that's how you want to go right? Like peacefully in your sleep. That's really the only detail that they gave us about the doctor. Yeah, I don't remember us getting any other detail. There was so much other stuff that happened in this episode, though, that completely slipped my mind to even think about. So they're trying to think okay, how can we get a hold of this African dream room? It's
apparently really rare. And they don't know how they're going to get it. And then dean thinks of calling Bella she gets rare items, occult items. What however, she can probably get stuff to us. Then we cut to Salem, in the motel room by himself. We hear a knock at the door and he goes and answer it. And Bella comes in and one of her fancy like he coat trench coat kind of things. We call it right then and there. That coat Yeah, like we were like, Oh, she's got nothing on it.
I said well, I was like I said if that was me, I'd be trench coat off lingerie. But you were like you said the same thing. You were like like she's naked you naked underneath.
I was wrong. She wasn't naked. La was right. She took the trench coat off and she just had on like a little teddy slipped kind of thing was immediately like Yes, Sam let's get it on and grab Sam snack and pulls him down to a kiss. And then we cut to Oh, go ahead
but sweet little Sam. It was like, Are you sure? Even
who you asked to make sure even in the stream? Yeah. But the consent is key.
Good. Good, man.
We love that Sammy. Yeah. Then it cuts to Dean been like wake up Sarah. Wake up. Rah rah. And Sam like snaps awake. He's got drool all over his hand which I'm just like, what was that but
he was also had like this like ridiculous like smile while he was sleeping. Like so much
roll on. So it turns out he was dreaming. He was doing some research still and had fallen asleep at the desk and the hotel room. And Dean was sitting on one of the motel rooms beds behind him and woke him up. So it was a sec stream that he was having.
Yes or not. Sam Dean said something that you were making some happy noises
it was pretty funny.
And he's
like, Why did you come We're here to help me look at this. And Sam like, looks down is like, oh, yeah, like, Give me a minute is like pretending to stretch and twist his back or what have you. So Sammy had some morning wood or whatever was going on there where he couldn't stand up because there was a tent in his pants and he didn't want to get embarrassed to make matters even worse, there's a knock at the door, and Dean gets up and goes to answer the door.
And it's Bella she's come through, she's got the dream root for them. And she has on a fucking trench coat and Sam's face when he sees what she's wearing. And she starts undoing the coat to take it off. He was just like, holy shit.
It's too good, like, so
good.
That's what I think we'll talk about this later. But the transitions in this show, it's just like, from seeing his dream. And then she walks in and it's like, she's in a trench coat. But this time, it's a different color. Yeah. And she's like, This time though, instead of like, opening it to Sam. She's opening into Dean, but Sam's little faces like, it's like, He's almost like scared about what's about to happen. He's like, Oh my god.
It was so funny. You pointed out he almost looked disappointed when she took it off. And she was fully clothed underneath
long sleeves and everything.
So she gives them the dream room Dean asks are what's with the change of heart? Why did you decide to do this and she mentions that she's doing it for Bobby, because he saved her life in Flagstaff. So Dean takes the dream root from our any goes to the closet where there's a wall safe, you clearly see the Colt is in the wall safe, which doesn't become important until later in the episode, but it's
important that it was there. So make note the quote was in the wall say he throws the dreamer in the wall safe with the Colt and shuts it and spins the little turn key thingy, whatever it's called.
Yeah. And I like how they're like this stuff's hard to come by. But she brought a whole jar of it like a filled
jar. She's British. That's right. I
know. I gotta keep telling Michelle looking like she keep reminding you that.
Yeah, Bella gets that shit. She's British. I don't have I don't need the reminder anymore. You've sealed it into my brain. I've got it now. Like she's British. Man. She thought that shit. You Why are you like are you okay? A little bit like you just spilled all over yourself.
Oh, we got to know how terrible is it that I was told you all were watching it. It's nice to see Lauren Cohen all dolled up to love rather than seeing her on like walking dead where she's like no makeup just like like you said she's gorgeous. She's gorgeous period in the story. I guess Sam and I you know, we're just drooling over Bella.
Right now I'm drooling over Sam. So Bella's trying to make herself comfortable in their hotel room and Dean basically tells her like, get your own room. Get the fuck out.
I when he was doing all that? I bet Sam was like, Oh, no. She wants to stay in my bed. Yeah, okay. Yeah, I don't want this
room. That's fine. What are you doing? So she gets pissed off and it's just like, Fuck you and takes her jacket and leaves.
Takes takes her transcript trench coat?
Yeah, her fancy trench coat. She doesn't leave it for Sammy. slept with. Now they've got the dream route that they need. So they've figured out based off of Bobby's research, and everything, what they need, in order to use the dream route to enter Bobby streams, which apparently was some DNA from the other person like whose dreams you want to enter into. So Elena and I were talking about like, what DNA from each other we'd be willing to ingest. What they do with Bobby is they end up doing
hair. Yeah. Like we decided, like we could do that. Yeah. Or like dead skin cells. Yeah.
Like a little exfoliation on the arm or hand. Yeah. So hair,
exfoliation. And then I decided like, the loose tissue from inside your mouth. I think,
like, I love that you thought about that? Because I would have never thought about that. But it's kind of perfect. Because like I said, it's just tissue.
It's just tissue. And like, if I'm going to dump it into I'm thinking of like, what and tea that I could just like chug or just like would just go like you wouldn't even notice. And that's what I thought of because you swallow that tissue from inside your mouth all the fucking time. Oh, yeah. Like I wouldn't even notice. Right. So yeah, that's what we came up with. I don't know why I felt the need to bring up that conversation during this podcast
recording. But now you know, the conversation happened during the episode. Just so y'all know. That's what happened. So Sam has made two glasses of the African dream route tea, and they've put Bobby's hair in it. And they chug it. The transition. Oh, yeah. From them having drank this tea into the fact that we are now in the dream world. It was so cool. Like we rewound it and watched it I think two
times. So they drink the tea, and they put it down and they're like who that because it's not good, but we know it's not good because the RA Jeremy told them at two is like asked, and so they definitely let us know that it does, in fact, taste like us. And then Sam says, When did it start raining and you can hear the rain noises. And Dean gets up and walks over to the window and pushes back the like emerald green curtains, and there's rain hitting the window and Dean
goes, the rain is moving up. And you can see that the direction of the rain on the window outside, it's moving in the wrong direction, like it's going up, which I don't know how they did that. I'm guessing somebody was outside there, like with a hose or something spraying up, but it definitely looks like rain. So and it looked practical. It didn't look like it was video effects. It looked like it was probably practical. I don't know how they did that.
That was fucking cool. Yeah. And then dean turns around, and the color that we've already talked about in this room where it was a vibrant blues and greens changes immediately to where it's muted. And there's more reds and tans. It was impressive.
There's I think this whole episode, different transitions. The use of sequel or lean is amazing. Yeah. And the use of color was so cool. From vibrant to muted.
To muted. Yes.
And like I think I even mentioned like the juxtaposition between like one scene to the next, like, how different each one was and how, but how smoothly it was done.
Yeah, who was the DP? We went and listened to supernatural then. And now we heard Rob like strong urge Saturday.
There's a lot of blood here. No,
I think you did better than Rob did on.
Because I was thinking it was a lot of cooler. But he said a lot of Claire. Claire says there's
fire tired because he
was saying it sounds too much like ser surge. You don't want to say or surge like
a power third, right? What's, what's the DP do?
He's the director of the photography. Now I don't know how it works with TV shows. Because I know a lot of times, it's like director of cinematography for movies. And that's how they they're the ones that like, look at in the camera lens, like set up the shot, how it's going to be. So think that maybe that's his role. And then he really works closely with like, the special effects team and whatnot as well. But that's what I'm assuming he does.
Well, it was art, this episode as well. And that's why I think I don't know if it's director DP like, whatever, like, oh,
yeah, cuz I don't know if like, there's a cinematographer on TV shows necessarily. I don't I think that's what the director of photography would be for TV show
The DP. Okay, I could be wrong. But, but the shot, this shot was so cool.
But that's why we looked up who he was. Because I even mentioned, I was like that. It's just like, these shots and the transitions. It's so good. And that's part of why I like the episode so much is just the art of it. Yeah, it's so well done,
which we're not caught up on Supernatural, then. And now we've purposely not listened to their episodes before we record our own episodes, because we don't want to be influenced by them. But I'm curious for this episode, if they bring him in to interview again, because I would like to hear him talk about what they did. Oh, yeah, me too. You know what I mean, I would love for them to talk about this. I wonder who they interviewed for this episode? Because I think they're done with season three.
Anyway, that's neither here nor there. We're like shouting out another podcast already. Dane turns around color completely changes from bright to muted. Reds tans. He and Sam are looking around trying to figure out where the fuck they are. They figured out they're dreaming that they've already fallen asleep. They're already in the dream. So they know
they're in Bobby's dream. And then Sam starts talking about Okay, wait, imagine there's more bookshelves imagines they're more shit in here, clutter. Where are we? Yeah, clutter stuff. Where are we with a figure out there in Bobby's house. They start trying to look around and try to find Bobby. Sam actually goes outside and the second he steps out the door. The color changes again. It's even more vibrant than it was earlier. Like so
bright. I don't know if you've ever watched like the MC G videos that he would direct like back in the day. But that was one of the things I liked about his videos. They were so vibrant and color. And I almost wonder if he had influence on this one because that's when I mean Sam walked out to a like, light blue colored house white picket fence and the most gorgeous color flowers everywhere.
And just so bright. Yeah, even Sam himself was like more tan his shirt. The colors on his shirt. I haven't noticed this entire episode and yet they popped whenever he stepped outside and shut that door. It's just the colors were just super intense where Sam was right and the door slams behind Sam and he can't get back inside. In the meantime, Dean is inside, looking around trying to find Bobby and there. He happens to find Bobby hidden away in a closet. Bobby is obviously
terrified. He's got scratches on his face. He's completely frazzled. Jim beavers performance and this scene broke my heart. Yeah, I just ah, he did so good. Like you were right there with Bobby. Right away. You understood he was so scared, and confused and just confused and didn't know what was happening. And Dean was telling him, You know, Bobby, you're in a dream. You're in a dream. And Bobby was like, No, this is real. This happened. We have to
hide. She's coming. He points at Dana's like, is that a dream and Dane turns around and sees a woman standing in a doorway across from them. And she's got, say at least two gunshots to the chest.
Oh, I think that's a really stat. I
think they're stab stab wounds. You're right, you're right, because she mentions the knife. So they're stab wounds to the chest blood coming down. She's in a white night gown. So that's kind of reminiscent of Mary Winchester, that she's in this white night gown. She is pissed. And we find out. As Bobby is talking with Dean Dean's trying to convince him this is a dream. It's not real. And Bobby talking about what he
thinks is happening. We find out this is his wife, and that she had been possessed by a demon and had been attacking him. And he had I'm gonna cry. Oh my god do and he had to he had to stab her and kill her in self defense, and he was just like, I'm so sorry. I didn't know then. What I know now.
But in her she keeps saying like she's convinced she's like, why did you do that to me? Yeah. And when he said that, like he didn't mean she's like, No, you just wanted me dead like so. It's like, it's very sad thinking. Like, whoever she was in her mind. She her husband just wanted her dead and killed her and stabbed her to death.
But that was the deal, but it was what I thrive right now.
But yeah, so she's just like, Why did which makes it even worse for him? That she's just like, why
would you do that to me? What do you do they hurt my heart is so bad. And you
could tell he's like I didn't I didn't know what I know. Now like,
there's a lot of actors who do well acting with their eyes. But I was I was not prepared for Jim beavers performance and this just what he did with his it was so scared and yet at the same time, so sad Yeah, I mean he just Jim beavers performance in this episode just my heart. He came after it. Just like you did as well.
Oh, my God that's terrible.
Oh, I just Oh, that's when I first like was like tearing up enough that I had to move my glasses a little bit was like Jim beavers performance when he was talking about that, and saying he was so sorry that he didn't know because he didn't know how to exercise a demon. He didn't know. Like all the things that Bobby The Bobby we know of today. Like he just didn't know. And so he he stabbed his wife to death. Apparently
that may have been his first interaction or anything into that world.
When he's a conscious he actually says something Dean when Dean like asked him like, hey, what I saw in there was that real? And Bobby kind of says like, we all got into hunting one way or another. Right? So just like how John Winchester got into hunting because of what happened to his wife. It seems like Bobby had a similar thing where he got into hunting because what happened with his wife? Yeah,
it seems like their MO was like always constantly revenge in a way for their wives. You know? Just even if it had nothing to do with them. They were going to take them out so that it didn't happen to somebody else.
Yeah. Or maybe it's maybe Bobby was seeking not revenge. Maybe he was seeking retribution. True, you know. But while all this is happening poor fucking Sammy or Sammy, sassy pants out in this cartoon, vibrant, colorful world, looking around trying to figure out what's happening. He all of a sudden sees Jeremy the RA. Being fucking sneaky. Who was it was a lot happened in a few seconds.
So y'all forgive me. So at the same time that Jeremy shows up and is attacking Sam and Dean convinces Bobby It's a dream. And that it's his dream, and he's in control. And so Bobby makes his wife go away. She's not there anymore. And then Dean says, Now wake up, and Bobby makes himself wake up. And then Sam and Dean wake up at the same time. It was very confusing, like five seconds. Yeah, we don't know what happened really. But I just explained it to the best of my ability. So yeah, we
deal with it. Yeah. Now we're in the hospital room and like I said, Dean is kind of asking Bobby about is that real and all that other stuff that I said already have And then Bobby explains how Jeremy got his DNA through the beer. And Dean is like, oh, fuck, I gave him my DNA through the beer too. So they know Jeremy is going to come after one of them again. So then they have to do the whole dream stuff again. I feel like a total effect of that. No, no, no, no, you're okay. You're so
y'all are with me. Y'all are with me. A fella is with me. Yeah, I'm gonna trust that y'all are with me. You know, you're good. You're good. Okay, so they figured out it is Jeremy. He's the bad guy. He's using the African dream route. He's using other people to dream through and it's killing them. And now he has both Bobby and Dean's DNA, probably Dean's. And he's gonna come through them for the dream again, so that he can keep
dreaming. Dean is drinking a lot of coffee trying to stay awake, because he doesn't want to go to sleep because he doesn't want Jeremy to come and get him in his dream. So we see Dean and Sam driving in the Impala. They're not able to find Jeremy. So Dean pulls over and decides he actually is going to go to sleep and just be prepared that Jeremy is going to come in there and take him on. Salem pulls out some of Dean's hair. And he's like, Well, if you're gonna go to sleep, then I'm coming with
you. And so he has more tea prepared, but scenes hair and it drinks it. So they both go to sleep. Dean is totally not happy with this. He does not want Sam joining him in his dream. And we thought that the reason he didn't want Sam to join him in his dream is because he was going to find out that Ruby had lied about being able to save Dean. So we were surprised when they go to sleep. And the first thing that happens in Dean's dream is actually Lisa. Oh, from
The Kids Are All Right. Talking to Dean being like, Oh, come sit down. Come have this picnic with me. We have to go pick Ben up from school and a little bit. And it was so cute because you like see the camera focused on Dean and Sam is in the background. And you see Sam walking toward Dean like he's going to give him a hug or something and Dean like turns over his shoulder and like shuts up. Like he's like, where
are you going to be like?
And so we find out that that's what Dean was wanting to hide from Sam was his fantasy of this is like suburban life with Lisa. We're Ben is his kid. And so that was that was a little heart wrenching for sure. Yeah, where they are. It's like this forested area. So Lisa kind of flashes in and out and goes away. Because Dean is in control. It's his dream. So he pushes her away because he doesn't want Sam to see that
kind of stuff. But then dean kind of gets this weird look on his face and the camera pans over him and it pulls out to where the forest has turned into this hall of like closets. Yet again, another fabulous shot and a fabulous transition. It was really cool.
I think it was like a hallway like in a motel. Right? Yeah. He goes into one of the rooms.
Yes, yes. Yeah, like pulls into a hole. Well, we don't know that. At first. It's just a hallway of drawers right? But he does end up going into one of the rooms is their hotel room. Basically. It's dark in there. It's not the bright blues and greens that we saw earlier. But it's that same hotel room. It seems like it's just really dark in there. And Dean sees himself sitting at a desk turning on a light off and on just kind of being weird, you know?
So two Dean's in one room what a dream override.
And at the same time that's happening he like all of a sudden wakes up in the Impala and it's like what the fuck is happening? And somebody's sleeping in the driver's seat and we think that first its Dean and then they zoom in the face and it's like no, it's Jeremy that creepy RA and he like spins over and is attacking Sam and like, ties him up to the ground outside and he has his ankles together for some reason. I'm
just like, Wait a minute. This hasn't been the MO whenever people are tied up, you know, we had Gordon tie it up spread equal John tied up spreadeagled, but they change it up for some reason, whatever. So he's tied to get his arms are spread open, but his ankles are tied together. And Jeremy all of a sudden has his baseball bat and is like, beating the shit out of Sam's knees and ankles and be in like a I took the dream route. So I'm, I'm a god and here I can
do whatever I want. But luckily, our Sammy smarty pants goes, Oh, yeah, motherfucker. I took the dream route to he conjures up. Jeremy's dad, who we had found out earlier in the episode was a super abusive, crazy psycho fuck. So Jeremy is like, Oh my God, and then I don't really understand But I understand what happens here. I've had a lot of Greggers at this point i You're drinking the goods. I am I'm drinking the good stuff this
evening. While all that's happening, Dean is like having the craziest fucking like, I mean, I guess a monologue, even though it's, there's two of him. Yeah, but it's both Dean. So that's why I'm using the word monologue.
Well, that's when I was like, like, this should be shown in like psychology classes. Yes. That's many different levels of this whole episode. For Bobby for Dean for Jeremy. Like what? Like negative self
talk, right? Yeah. Oh, yeah. Like it was the perfect visualization of negative self talk.
Yeah. And start like, self destruction. Yeah,
we're like one version of do the version of Dean that was being creepy and turning like in the hotel room turning on the light. So he's saying like, you're nothing your daddy's blunt little instrument. Have you ever had an original thought? Like the car you love? Oh, that's your dad's the music you love. Oh, that's your dad's. And it's just like, holy shit.
Uniqlo like the leather jacket? Oh, yeah.
It was so sad. And like, the Dean we know is trying to like combat this and be like, No, everything's fine. That it up. But he ends up getting pushed over the edge and getting so pissed off that he shoots the other version of himself in the chest.
It will he like, slams him into the walls like yelling. And I'm like, No, that's yes. It's not that way.
He said, I don't deserve this. I don't deserve to go to hell. And then that's when he like,
Ah, shoot some. And I think that's the first time like Dean's actually acknowledge, acknowledge that it's not that he's accepted it, he doesn't want it. And it's not that he's just cool and like, accepted it, and he knows it's gonna happen.
Well, we've already acknowledged earlier, I think it was fresh blood, where we acknowledged that this whole season has been campy, because the show is from Dean's perspective, for the most part. And Dean has been putting on an act for sure most of the season. But yeah, then his like shouted up version of himself, like his eyes open and they're black. And he's like, this is what you're going to become. You're going to be a demon, who literally have
no choice. This is what's gonna happen to you, which is exactly what Ruby confirmed that episode before,
right? And while all this is happening is when Sam is like, I took the train route to and I'm gonna have your daddy come and kill you. And like Jeremy just like dies. I still don't understand why that happened. How that happened. It just is what it is. I'm just gonna take it for what it is. Yeah. And so Sam and Dean wake up in the Impala. They've defeated Jeremy in the dream world. They go back to the motel. And Bobby's with them. He's asking Sam, if the ability
to Energien Jeem. Yeah, Jeremy's dream had anything to do with Sam's psychic abilities. And Sam says no, but he's not 100% sure about that, because he was able to completely take over the dream and KILLED JEREMY so maybe it was a little bit of his psychic powers who fucking knows. Dean has been on the phone trying to get a hold of
Bella. He can't find Bella. And he brings up about how the whole reason Bella helped them was because of Flagstaff, which we saw Bella and Bobby having a little bit of a conversation about Flagstaff. And Bobby seemed like he didn't quite know what she was talking about. But she's doing her talking board stuff, trying to help them figure things out. And he did just kind of pass over it. But Bobby finally brings up like yeah, like Flagstaff I gave her a really good deal on an
ambulance. I don't know what you all are talking about why you guys are acting like Flagstaff is such a big deal.
I will say though in her defense, like maybe whatever that amulet was that he gave her did save her life, you know, but she just never let him know that. Maybe, maybe
but Bella still Terra Bella. Oh, of course. So they start thinking like, why else would Bella have come here gone out of her way in order to come here. And they all look at the wall safe and are like fog. They go open the wall safe and sure enough, the Colt is gone. So Bella has stolen the Colt.
She's gonna sell it though. Right? She
does. Oh, for sure. Yeah,
there's no need she wants it for that's her. That's her. Yeah. Which I feel like from now on. If we see Bella, something will be stolen.
That's what she does. Yeah, that's her thing. She's a good thief. She's
She is.
So this episode was written by Katherine Humphries and Sarah gamble. This is the only episode and the entire supernatural series that's pinned by this these two together. It was also directed by deve boy yum. who also did season two's crossroad blues.
Love it.
That's my disjointed drunken mess of a recap. I was like bawling by the end of this episode. It was so intense and so sad. If you haven't watched this episode, or if you haven't seen it in a while, I highly recommend it this. I like when we first started season three, I'll admit, I was like, Oh, this is so campy and such. But yeah, I've there a couple of my favorite episodes of the seasons of the show so far have been in this season.
Well, I think what it was over on to say, Yeah, I told you, you really, this is definitely one of my favorites, mainly for me visually. It was so good. Story, of course, it's great. Then they all did really well, acting wise. But yeah. It would be something to see just for the sentiment, like I said, the cinematography and all that. Yeah, Dan, just like the psychology of it. It's just it's it's a lot. There's a lot going on. There's
a lot going on, and we are not I'm not in a position to elaborate on that much more. There wasn't any gore. No. And I feel like we've already kind of emphasized what we adore. And I feel like we like we probably aren't describing it eloquently, but just yeah, there was so many shots in this episode that just were pure art. Yeah. And the performances from the three main actors, Jim Beaver, Jensen Ackles. And Jared paddle lucky. Just they all three nailed it. Yeah, it was so good. I would
watch this episode again. I would do in a heartbeat. I
don't think I would say that about it. Right. I don't mean that in a bad way.
I have other ones I would watch fresh blood again. Yeah, I would watch tell tall tales. Again. And again. Yeah.
This one I think this one definitely. Yeah, for me, like movie wise or not movie wise, but like film wise. Great. Really amazing.
It was really good. So what about the lore?
Alright, so we've got dream walking. It's called Dream walking or dream linking. And it's the ability to travel among the dreams. And may you may think like sleepwalking, but that's not what it is. Because these dreamers move within their consciousness rather than in real life walking. Dream walking is having the ability to travel
between different dreams. Now, when I first started this, I was like, okay, like, like you're having two different dreams, like you go in and out or whatever, but then that's not it.
That's like lucid dreaming, right? Where you can like, well troll your dreams. So they
talk about this. So I'll get to that. They say these dreams can be from others or even another plane of existence. Oh, yeah. When you dream lock, you're essentially walking into another dream and experiencing it like on the show conscious of what is going on around you. And you're able to remember the dream even after you wake up, which were like, okay, yeah, that's all dreams. Not all dreams, but like, only a dream like that, you know, whatever. So lucid dreaming is like dream
walking. But in both instances, the dreamer is aware of what is going on around them. Unlike dream walking, though. Lucid Dreaming does not always involve traveling. So that's kind of the difference. And they say another word you might hear to describe this is I know I'm pronouncing this wrong. On your Nadex one year Nadex, one year or not? It's literally one iron Nadex is
what it looks like. Oh, narrow, no ticks, okay, this term is for the available, the availability to travel within dreams on an errata
go through one aeronautics
on a neurotic on our auto ion AR one and neurotic. But it's like not neurotics. It's like nautical. Honorata. erotics on erotics is named after on a on a row with Sure. Which, worse were the children of NYX and the personification of dreams. They were depicted as children with wings coming out of their heads, which I would like to see. And degrees. I think that'd be cool. Like how big are these wings coming out of their head? Are they like what's his name? In the Marvel Universe with the
wings on his ankles? Made your name Lord Yeah, they're an ancient Greece they'd appear in dreams, making them dream walkers. For they say example in the Iliad, Zeus sends an since an owner up on neurosis to Agamemnon acronym Oh, my God. I can then mum Jesus Christ to inflict nightmarish dreams. Now dream walking doesn't just involve traveling to dreams of people in living in your A world and the dreams aren't really tied to any particular reality.
But there is a possibility that you're experiencing a dream from another timeline. So if you believe in different realities and timelines, this means that you can be experiencing a dream of someone that's in another reality
is not what they didn't. Dr. Strange in the multiverse madness. Yeah. So I feel like it's like she said, like, if you have a dream, like it's one of your other versions of yourself, yes.
Yeah. Like all of this reminded me like the I think they even read reference inception. And this. As I was reading this, I was like, I feel like there's been so many movies, I've seen that kind of, yeah, involve this. Now the dream could be from someone else and a different reality, or even an alternate version of you, especially like you were saying, from the movie. Yeah, different versions of you could be like your normal dreams, however, small differences will be
noticeable. Maybe you have a significant other or a different family member, you could even be in a completely different life than what you are in your current reality in these dreams. And you can also use dream walking to communicate with someone you know. And they were like, for example, if you have a best friend that you want to see, but they're living across country or in another state, you guys can try dream walking. And doing this well, I guess one of you could do on your own, which
is weird, or both of you. But doing this allows you to be together on an astral plane. And dreaming with someone else gives you the ability to observe or help whenever necessary in this dream. Now how to dream walk you ask, let me tell you,
who
literally says tutorial. So I'm excited thought this for years, like keep a dream journal. Because there have been so many times, like, I'll wake up, or I'll have multiple dreams at night. And I'm like, I should really should have written that down. But I think in my mind, I'm like, Oh, if I wake up and turn the light on and start writing, like I won't be able to get back to sleep, whatever. Yeah. But they say to help lucid dreams, it is important to remember all the dreams you
have. Because even if they feel ordinary or mundane, if you write it down, it's going to help you remember and track small details that might come up even in your dreams or when your dream walking and others dreams. And that maybe if you sit down and put it all together, it might mean something. Now stay calm, guys. If you're really excited about lucid dreaming, you may not be able to calm down. Don't think too hard about it. Act natural, guys, just be
cool. And without focusing too hard and stressing yourself out, you might get to that state. Make it a habit of asking if you're dreaming. While it might It may sound a little silly, but it's going to be helpful. But ask yourself if you're dreaming throughout the day, it's going to be a habit that you'll build. And these habits can carry over into your dreams where the answer will be yes. Who's gonna tell me? Yes? How will I know? I
don't know. This is maybe this is where I should not be a dream Walker, because I'm too concerned with confusing things.
Hello, hmm.
They say speak your lucid dream. So So basically, from what I'm gathering is like you have to go into that lucid dream state to get to the dream walking. That makes sense. And they say speak your lucid dream into existence. So before you fall asleep, tell yourself I will know that I am dreaming. And using phrases like this is called mild or no, no mom. No, not. The nomic introduction to lucid dreaming, probably so that first word wrong, I don't know.
But you reinforce the statement in your brain creating a positive affirmation that can come true. And if you use these stellar steps to help you lucid dream, you'll be ready to begin the dream walking. The number one thing you should remember is that dream walking doesn't have 100% success rate shocking. There will be times where you try to dream lock but it just seems like you can't and that's fine. Just don't give up they say if you are dream lock. So
this is also weird. If your dream walking with a partner that you know, make sure to be completely honest and open with each other. That will help everything go more smoothly. Dreams can be vulnerable as we saw on the show, and you don't want any negative feelings to come out of it
and discuss with each other. What form of DNA you're willing to ingest. Yeah, important. It is important.
I feel like these articles are there. They crack me up sometimes. So guys, unfortunately there's no step by step guide to dream walking. Shocking, again. But they everyone experiences it a little different. There's no formula or whatever. It's just This is the only advice people can give to get you on that journey. But it's really they, they say it's as simple as connecting to someone's energy. So if you're trying to dream off with a partner try to envision their energy as like a tangible object
object that you can touch. And they say, grab that energy and keep it close until you fall asleep. And so if you do that their energy can become one with you, letting you dream walk together. And learning dream block follows a process similar to learning how to do lucid dreaming, lucid dreaming becomes dream walking when you step outside of your world. And when you get the hang of the lucid dreaming, then you can break barriers and experience the
dreams of others. You can dream walk without even trying, they say it is possible to have a talent for Dream walking. And if you have the knack for connecting to a spiritual world, or lucid dreaming, you're probably going to have an easier time to be unnatural Dreamwalker and and this is I love it's like sometimes it can get confusing. Lucid dreamers are really vulnerable to confusing their
life with dreams. And if you walk every night, or several times a day, you may confuse your dreams with reality.
I thought that was just because I was a Pisces.
Because you're a lucid dreamer. Now this, if you walk into another plane of existence, there's always a possibility of learning something that really affects you. While dream walking, be cautious of new information, the host that is giving you that information, maybe from another time and space. And so the information they give you could not really make sense at first, which is probably why they tell you to make that journal. So time travelers, you know, maybe that's where that's coming from.
Also, when you're dreaming, walking with someone you know, that can be dangerous, too. If you plan on linking your dreams with another person, be sure they they have your consent. Otherwise, the experience may not go well. If you enter the dream of someone who does not want you there. It says there isn't much information about constantly dying while during walking. It's I mean, it's not going to physically impact you. But wow, it could mentally impact you and make you be on
the edge and afraid to sleep. So that could really lead to a lot of things. I mean, this dream locking who knew was going to be so dangerous. When I first started, I was like alright, this sounds good. Like let's do it. But now I'm like, maybe not. It's completely possible to dream walk without wanting to and but it can be tiring. If you're dreaming walk in for a
long time. If you're running a marathon in that dream it it can become your new norm and instead of going to bed and having your own dreams you could be automatically starting a dream and waking by default and another's now to stop that dream walking guys. You got to try to ground yourself in reality. Oh, that's not fun. Yeah, we're like this may sound confusing to it's like everything in this sounds confusing but whatever. Explore meditation chakra is in yoga.
Working with the solar plexus and root chakras can help ground you in reality and lead to less dream walking. The solar plexus chakra says honor your lifeforce while the Root Chakra is on the
earth beneath you. The root chakra practically and metaphorically grounds you to Earth in reality, you may experience difficulties creating your own dream world but grounding yourself will help you know whether your dream which sounds crazy to know whether you're dreaming dream walking or lucid dreaming that says don't be afraid to reach out to other dream walkers and lucid dreamers are there forums are there groups
there were for the tulpa thing so really remember because the bronies and they like yeah together the My Little Pony Tilopa oh my god so if there was groups for that I'm sure there's groups for this will test are happy to help I don't want nobody have in my dreams
and it says somebody will always be willing to help you. And they do have some final thoughts take advantage Yeah. A they say dream mocking can help you get a better understanding of those around you. When linking linking a dream with someone you're basically peering into their mind and experiencing what they experiencing that what they experience. It can be frustrating to not get the hang of it but remember to keep trying Most people will not dream walk on their first try it
takes time. But soon you will be able to dream walk for small amounts of time and these amount little bits of time will eventually turn into a full night of dream walking. So it's like they make it sound all great in the beginning like oh yeah, let's dream walk like let's let's link up tonight burly like let's have some dreams and chill and and work out. Work out. Let's hang out in our dreams like after after I run home. Let's hang out in our dreams. Sounds like a lot of
work. But then I also I think when we refer He's talking about I told you I was gonna be like, Alright Jensen, I'll see you when you're later. But now it's like just seems like such an evasive
situation. And as he's like just a lot of work, like when I'm going to sleep I'm trying to restore, you know, yeah, I don't need to go jump into somebody else's head and be like, hey, what? What are you doing? And like, what's the point?
I've always liked thinking about majoring dreams and things that happen and like you always wonder like, oh, what does that mean? Or and whatnot. But now I'm constantly going to be like concert is somebody invading my dreams? Was their dream Walker?
Yeah. Like who was who the fuck is that? Like LA? What were you doing in my shit last night? Yeah,
like I'm gonna call you tomorrow be like, What the fuck Burly. I saw you lurking there peeking
around the corner. You had baseball bat like Jeremy, were you going to try and come tie me up like how?
Okay, how weird is it going to be this week? If either one of us have a dream? What is in that dream? We're gonna like what the fuck?
Why are you stupid lucid dream and you already lucid dream. I'm watching you. Because I already lucid dreams. I'm just like, Oh, I do too. Well, so dream walking is apparently just like the next natural step for us. Right? So
you've said that there are there are so many times though that I'll be in a certain dream. And it's like I wake up. And then I'm like, oh, no, no, no. So that I want to know what's going on there. So I'll go back to sleep and go right back into the dream. And like finish it.
I'll change the channel. I'll I don't like what's happening and I'll change the channel. Like let's go. Let's go over here. No, let's go to this thing and said like, I've changed the channel.
I gotta figure I gotta. I gotta finish it. I gotta see what's going on. I'd maybe I should try that next time. I'm Eli right. Fuck that shit situation. Yeah, like give me a new one.
That's what I do. I'm like, This is not interesting. This is not keeping. Let's just change it. Let's change the channel. Okay, throw something else in here.
I do think though like what they were saying like if you're like in tune to people's energies more and so susceptible to probably like dream walking, especially if we both can lucid dream. We can probably do that. But yeah, if it's like a real thing. Yeah. And now I'm like, Oh God, am I unconscious? Tonight? Is that gonna happen?
Am I gonna? Because it said you could accidentally do right Am I gonna accidentally DreamWalk Am I gonna accidentally be like, Oh, I'm sorry. Jerry Powell lucky. Exactly. Like sorry, Jensen. I'm sorry, Jen. Sorry, Misha. Oops.
I'm sorry. I didn't mean to.
All right, well, quote, close it out. Whatever Dean was trying to think about how they could get the dream root. Hey, first said Bella. Sam said Bella, crap. Ha. You're actually suggesting we ask her for a favor.
And Dean says, I feel dirty just thinking about it. But yeah.
Cheers. Thank you for listening to denim wrapped nightmares.
