Welcome to denim wrapped nightmares tipsy exchange Podcast where we explore the supernatural series episode by episode.
over drinks, we'll discuss the lore of gore and what we adore about the Winchesters and their adventures.
I'm burly, and I'm a new fan of the series.
I'm LA, and I'm here along for the ride. Now, let's get tipsy.
ello la
Haber. Like,
we're doing bonus episodes between each season with something related to supernatural. After season one, we did a bonus on our first convention experience. It actually kind of bled into season two, but that's because I had to I didn't have a choice. I had to move up our season two premiere date, so that the tall tales episode fell on April Fool's Day, right. It was a necessity. But that was our season one bonus episode was our
convention for season two. We're talking about supernatural the animation, which was also released as supernatural the anime series. It's a Japanese anime based on the supernatural TV series. It was produced by the studio Madhouse and released on DVD and blu ray by Warner Home Video. The entire series was released in 2011. Beginning with the first episode being available digitally on February 9 2011. It ran for one season of 22 episodes. The storyline covers the season one and two of
the live action series. It also includes original content, exploring the Winchesters childhoods and expanding upon secondary characters. It's like a 5050 split between what are essentially adaptations of episodes from season one and two like skin was in there and heart and what is and what should never be and all of that and then original stories, so almost half and half a little more adaptations than original stories. Jared paddled lucky voices Sam, and the English
version. And Jensen Ackles does not voice Dean in the episodes we watched which really threw me off. Yeah, it was weird. It was weird hearing, especially since you could hear Sam. And then it wasn't Dean. Also. Dean's eyes were not green. Right. I didn't appreciate that
brown. Yeah, they
were brown. I didn't know what was going on there. Anyway, we watched a couple of the original stories, which told us a little bit more about the team demon children we both were saying that we wish they had told us more about Lily and Jake that they just kind of showed up. In the two part Season Finale all hell breaks loose. And we didn't really get a backstory on them. So those are the episodes we chose to watch and discuss on today's bonus
episode. So LA. Tell us more about Lily and the episode darkness calling.
Well, at the beginning. It's these it's Lily and this other girl arguing and it's mainly the other girl talking and she's just a roll pitch. Yeah, just saying No wonder you don't have any friends and I'm out of here. Good luck to you. You're such a weirdo. Yeah, all that just mean girl stuff.
It was supposedly her best friend too, right? Yeah. What?
So the other girl starts leave and she's like at the door. And Lily comes and grabs her arm. It looked like she just grabbed her jacket, but I guess she grabbed her hold a part of her arm. And the girl all of a sudden, kind of like leans over and grabs her chest turns toward Lily. And just spews blood all over Lily's face just like puked all over her face.
And I remember you commenting like Wait, she has on gloves. And then later in the episode, it's like, I couldn't tell if she had on gloves or her actual hands were black.
Yeah, I couldn't tell. Well, yeah, cuz like right after that happened or whatever her hands were like, steaming Yeah, the gloves are what we thought were gloves. We thought those adverts off but then it still looks the same later. So it was a little confusing. But yeah, so after the friend spews all over Lilly and die, it was very dramatic. Yeah, the gloves are hands are burning, steaming. And we see John next up rolling around in a hearse for some reason.
I thought it was the Impala No,
it was a hearse. Okay. He's calling up all Bobby. And they did Bobby dirty. They did. He loves nothing like Bobby. John looked nothing like Josh true but John still look pretty good. Well, yeah, you know? Yeah,
he looked like a sexy lighthouse keeper.
Yeah, yeah. Oh, he
did. Yeah, like big trench coat and all that stuff.
I forget what he called. He called Bobby for me. Something about Lily because of
the roommates death. Right? Demonic there were demonic symbols. And she was born at the same year as Salem and oh, yeah, all that stuff.
She lost her mom. Yeah. yatta yatta. Y'all know the tale. So John shows up to lilies, lilies pad, which looks like a castle on the inside.
What does Lily do for a living like Ray, my God,
I mean, she may be lonely, but she's got a fabulous plate, right. Bobby had told him where she was at and about how her dad gray Baker, I think his name is had taken off when she was really young. So he rolls up and he's kind of checking the place out and he notices there's a man also checking the place out. And he runs over and grabs them. What's getting there was holy water on him and didn't do anything. And every time I think about that, I'd be like, Tammy, this is so embarrassing every
time I do this. But it turns out that that is gray. That's Lily's dad, and he was watching her and wanting to come back into her life. too little too late pow, right. And as they're standing there, these, this group of people are there and they have pink eyes. And I thought I was like they look like zombies but their demons. John, and gray somehow get up to the roof of this building where these zombie demons are at. I think Gray has been sweating the I think he sweats the whole episode sweats
and cries the entire time. And while he's busy doing that John is up on this water tower on top of the building blessing the water. We know what's going to happen there.
Classic John Winchester move.
They have the conversation before anything goes down about how Gray came into the room when Lily was six months old and yellow eyes was feeding her blood from his wrists like a vampire. And then her mom ran in and same thing happened to her that happened to what's her mom's name?
Mary Mary.
And I knew that we learned that gray is a real pissy. I know I shouldn't use that word. But I mean, he leaves his ditches his daughter. Like every time that John needs him to do something, he fails, like they go down. And John's explaining to them that we've got to kill these demons and graves like What do you mean, just you and me between all of these? These,
this whole group of people? And John's like, yeah, so John lights up this thing on fire, sets the sprinklers off with the holy water, and it takes care of the group. But the second he turned around to need like gray for something great was taken off. Once again. He's just out of there. He's like peace out. I can't handle anything, then that we see lily in her fabulous place. And there's some woman there who really enjoys saying Lily's name. Every sentence it was too much. She was like
Hello, Lily. I'm going to do this slowly. Don't you want to come with me Lily. It was just too much. She was really annoying. And as I as we were watching, I didn't realize but barely pointed out that she had a great rack. And I was too busy writing my notes. So then I glanced up and they were right there in the screen was a holy cow. As she's standing there having this chat with Alito, like saying her name like 10 times, there's this big old sword that goes through her
back. Right, but Twixtor boobs?
It was an arrow, the dad shotter. Oh, it was yeah, he shot. He shot her with a crossbow.
All right, I gotta give credit where credit's due. Okay, he did one good thing. One good thing.
And then the steam started coming between boobs.
Oh my god. And that's like in my notes. I was like, I can't believe how many times I'm reading boobs between the knife or whatever going through them steam coming out of her boobs, and then she takes it. She pulls it through from her back out of her chest.
And then the blood goes all out from her boobs like a Jackie lights from her chest. Yeah, it were more blood splotches and these animated episodes than we've had in the supernatural series Total. Absolutely.
I mean, all over the place.
Also, the chick with the boobs is yellow eyes,
right? Yeah, I was. Yeah, I forgot about that. He's possessed a woman this time. A hottie Makati? Yeah. And this kind of struggle. John is there with gray of course. And he like John standing on the stairs and all of a sudden they like show his legs and I'm like what is happening? But she is levitating and throwing she pins him up on the ceiling. I think right before she did that. John got a couple of good swipes in and there's like a nice chunk, like missing out of her head.
Well, he did that big dramatic gun shooting thing coming through the window. Oh, that's how we got in there. Well, yeah, some things okay. Well, you were writing a lot. I know. It was very short episodes. They're only like 20 minutes long. Yeah.
And once again, this is the only the second good thing that he starts to charge at yellow eyes lady yellow eyes, and she's like Nenana throws him up on the ceiling as well. So both guys are just hanging out there, you know chillin somehow John gets loose and slices lady yellow eyes his arm off and Lily gets over there. And as as like she's like having another a little struggle with John Lilly uses her crazy hands.
And her crazy Black Hand yeah and kills and Lily is white lily in the cartoon is white. So that's why it's weird that her hands are black the whole episode. Yes.
But she takes out lady allies kills her. Of course, the yellow eyes is like you guys just really messed up this girl's body. She's gonna die once I leave here. Yeah. And sure enough, she did. John takes them to a motel, and tells them to stay there and not leave until he gets back which I was like, well, straighten him just like he did his kid. As he's out doing whatever he's doing on an errand, he calls Bobby and says, you know, this is bigger than we thought we're gonna need the
Colt. And Bobby's like not sure. But he's like, all right, and John tells him to he needs to get to a safe place. And then I guess they're gonna meet up and figure out a plan. And as the gray and Lily are sitting in the, in the living room, and in the motel, we see smoke coming from the vents coming down toward the lily. And once again, gray freaks out sweating all over the place. Instead of it getting to Lily, it possesses gray. And he's trying to fight it off and telling Lily to run.
We don't really know what happened. But we do see John show up. And daddy's on the floor dead. And Lily's upset and said she had to kill him to get the demon to leave his body, you know. And John says, you know, you know, come with him. He wants to help her. And she just is all upset and tells him that he can't help her. And that's that.
So we got a little backstory on lily. Yeah, I gotta say. None of that seems to match up with the blonde girl that we meet and all hell breaks loose. No, I don't think so. No, no, it doesn't. It doesn't quite add up. Same thing with our next one. Next, we've got Jake and the name of this episode was loser. It starts out in Afghanistan. And just like with Lily, there's somebody just being a real big dick to Jake. Yeah, this guy Tyrone?
I mean, just for No, no reason. No reason at all. And not like it just been
real big dick. Yeah. And like takes this picture that Jake is looking at. That's his little brother. And I think it was his mom and sister I'm not sure. And like tears it in half. Jake did not like that. Also, at one point jank loose over and further down on the bench and they're like in a tank or something driving. And further down on the bench. One of the soldiers is like staring at him and his eyes go yellow. And then it like turns into this guy in a suit with the yellow eyes. And
he's like, Oh, it's him. It's the yellow eyed demon. So this isn't the first time Jake has seen yellow eyes. But anyway, Tyrion really pisses off Jake so he punches the side of the tank and it flips over. Somehow Tyrone falls out of the tank. I don't know how that happened and the tank is on top of him. Like Jake just really fucked things up because he lost his temper. We cut back to the states and
there's Sam and Dean. And Sam has had a premonition of a family in town that yellow eyes is going to come to their home. And it just so happens that while they're going to store picking up some groceries, the little boy from Sam's premonition is trying to hotwire the Impala somehow catches his jacket or pants on fire and ends up catching the Impala on fire. Whenever Sam and Dean come walking out of the store, he's like putting out his jacket and the impalas burning and Dean's
face. It does like the Dragon Ball Z zoom thing on his face. And he's like, no. It goes running to take care of the Impala. Then it cuts to Sam walking back, still carrying all their groceries in one arm and just dragging the kid behind him with the other arm because, you know, he's Sam Winchester giant. Yeah, he's giant. He's a gentle giant. But he'll kick your ass. So he drags the kid back. And he's like, Yeah, this is the kid from my vision for sure. So they go to the house, and they meet
the grandma and the sister. And at first dean is like, I don't know this. I don't want to leave here. Like, this doesn't make sense. But then the sister like, puts her tits out and he's like, oh, please help us and so Dean goes, okay. Okay, we'll help we'll stick around and help. Back in Afghanistan. We're seeing more of Jake you know, he lifts the tank off of Tyrone and carries him helps save his life.
After as Tyrone is like down there dying he's like why would you say somebody that hates you? It's like maybe the house not the time to remind him of that
right? Oh, and I forgot first Tyrone does die or something. Somebody's down. They're dead. I thought it was Tyrone. Jake is getting upset and the dude's head turns around full 360 And it's yellow eyes being like, yeah, release your powers Jake, you need to release your powers and Jake's just like loose and he ends up picking up the tank and throwing it. I was just like, What the fuck? Those were some crazy superpowers. Superman. Yeah, we were like if Jake had that kind of super
strength. Why didn't he just literally rip everybody in half whenever he decided he wanted to be the last one standing bro didn't need a knife. But anyway, he throws the tank and saves Tyrone's life. Back in the states Dean and Sam are hanging out with this family. They're washing the Impala Dean and the kid are playing around having fun. And we find out that before Jake left, he had a heart to heart with his little brother.
His name is Danny, where he was telling Danny that whenever he came back home, Danny would be a man. For some reason Danny went okay. That means I need to learn how to steal shit.
Because he was he told him he needed to take to look after their grandmother and his sister.
Yeah, look over the family while I'm gone. You'll be a man when I get back. And so Danny was like, Yeah, I'm gonna start stealing shit. That's what's going to help everybody out. So that's why Danny's been a little shit and stealing everything. Because he thinks that's how he's contributing to taking care of the family for some reason. I never really connected the dots there. But it was on. Who knows? Back in Afghanistan, Jake is saying that he's not going to let himself be
tempted by yellow eyes. He's not going to be manipulated by yellow eyes that he is going to use his power for good. He is going to save people and do great things. And he finally gets to come home and Tyrone has survived and they kind of smiled at each other. So there's kind of a peace offering. That's not
the word. I'm looking for. The truth, I guess a truce so to speak that, you know, Tyrone's not going to be a dick to Jake anymore because Jake saved his life and Jake is happy that he's doing good things and that he didn't let yellow eyes tempt him into fucking Tyrone up that he actually saved his life instead. Back in the States, Sam's vision starts to come true early, Danny has run off to try and go steal
some shit or something. And Dean tries to go after him to make sure that he's going to be safe. So Sam was left at the house with the grandma and the sister and yellow eyes showed up, like slammed Sam up against a wall and tells him I don't even have to do shit. Like I'm not the one who's going to end up tempting Jake into being evil and turning to the dark side. Another person is going to do that. I think they kept using the word more adorable. Yeah, another mortal
will do that. I don't have to do shit is going to happen all on its own. Also, whenever yelloweye is first shows up, Sam gets his Dragonball Z moment where he's like, rah. I'll kill you. And literally everything in the house like, floats up in the air with his telekinesis. Yeah, I forgot about that. Which we never got to see anything like that happened in the series. They didn't have their special effects department yet. Yeah. So yellow eyes just showed up to be like, Fuck you, Sam, and then
leave. It was so weird. And then Sam tried to go over and help the mom and the sister and they were scared of Sam now. So they were all like, Oh, let's see. I'm just like, okay, whatever. Like y'all are fine. This was stupid. We didn't even need to be here. So Sam leaves. In the meantime, Jake has arrived in the States. So I guess the stuff they were showing us in Afghanistan was stuff that had happened way earlier because he has made the flight and he is there. In in the United States
in his hometown. He's stopped by a bakery because he wants to get a special cake that his family really likes before he shows up at home. And it's already kind of late. So he's doing all that stuff. And we see Danny running. And there's this guy like limping on a cane carrying a bag. And you can see him think about stealing it. And then he sees the cane and he's like, Oh, no, I won't. And then for whatever reason, he changes his
mind. And so he runs past the guy grabs his bag and is running and he runs right into Jake. Dean happens to be turning the corner at the same time. He sees Danny and Jake run into each other. And then all of a sudden, Danny gets gunned down. And as Jake is laying there holding his body as he's dying, he looks over and sees that the person who shot him down was Tyrone. From the beginning of the episode, now he looked
horrified. And he was like, Is that is that Danny because he knew the name of Jay Next family members, and Jake was furious. He like, jumps up Dean tries to come and stop him. He shoves Dean out of the way into a fire hydrant so Dean's unconscious and he runs and we don't see what happens exactly, but there's like a loud noise and another blood splooge we assumed he fucked up Tyrone.
Yeah, I thought he killed Yeah.
Sam Feinstein Dean explains what happens. There's a lot of blood were Danny's body was but Danny is gone. And also where Tyrone was. There's just a really big crater in the sidewalk with like a small pool of blood in that. So no idea what happened. We're thinking, you know, Tyrone's dead Jake's run off with Danny's body to do who knows what. But it cuts to a different house and there's a different little kid hanging out in the living room listening to
Kansas. This little kid, you know, their their music since they're an old soul. Yeah, you know, and they hear the door knock and they get up and go answer the door. And it's Tyrone. And he just like falls to his knees crying. So yeah, and like hugs the little kid. And that's the end of the episode. So I guess that Jake just punched the concrete.
I guess I would have liked to have known what happened there.
Yeah. Who knows? Yeah. Those were the two episodes. animes not really my thing. I used to like it when I was in college. And that was like 20 years ago. For me. I watched in you Asha and bleach and Deathnote so I liked it back then. But I also did a lot of drugs back then. There were some things going on in this anime that maybe it was happening more in this anime, but I think it's just how anime style is. But if you like anime, it might be worth watching for you. You know, like I said, it's 22
episodes. Almost half of those episodes are original stories. I think you can get the first episode for free on Amazon Prime. But if anime is not your thing, I would say you're probably not missing much by skipping this. Yeah, you know, true. Like,
it was fun though.
It was fun. But I don't want to go watch the rest of the episode. Yeah, you know, I mean, I would maybe read the description of all the episodes and see if there's another one maybe two that has an interesting story that I want to see. Yeah, you know if it shows the Winchester kids you know, you and I both like the flashbacks where it shows them as kids you know, maybe there's another one or two but yeah, I wouldn't say this is like a must see No, yeah, kind of thing.
There was also like a theme that I noticed in both episodes and another one we kind of semi watched with the ladies. The guys were doing it to where are they?
Yeah, like that's what I was talking about the anime style thing like that. Like guys will be like, guys will be more like
oh, okay, I see that but I guess it's because the girls were so high pitched it was just like, and they were loud or noticeable and like in in part time and times where it was just like not necessary to none of it was yeah, like, I don't know.
So our quote to close that out is going to be LA and I mimicking the noises these anime characters were making throughout all the episodes. So you go first
Oh my god. Pretty good.
