Welcome to denim wrapped nightmares tipsy exchange Podcast where we explore the supernatural series, episode by episode.
over drinks, we'll discuss the lore of gore and what we adore about the Winchesters and their adventures.
I'm burly, and I'm a new fan of the series.
I'm calling and I'm here along for the ride. Now let's get
happy Valentine's Day la
vie Valentine's Burly.
We're doing a special Valentine's Day bonus episode for our listeners. We're gonna talk about our experience at the creation entertainment convention for supernatural J and J projects, whatever else it is, that happened here in Dallas in February 2023.
So creation puts it on. Yeah, cuz like there's a way to like organize the convention itself.
Yes. Because creation entertainment. They also do conventions for like The Vampire Diaries and Star Trek and all these other initial thoughts. What do you have to say about our convention experience before we get into the daily schedule and shit?
Well that's, that sums it up,
right? Hang on, hang on, I gotta, I gotta let the audience know. I'm a fucking nerd burly here. I'm a real big nerd. I've been to a few conventions in the past a few different fan conventions, etc. I hadn't been to a supernatural convention until now. But I've been to a few conventions. La has not Yeah, this was like her first convention ever. Well, and
I think like, from what I've seen of other conventions, like Comic Con, or something like that, there's a lot of different things there, which there were different things here. But it was so centralized on Jared and Jensen, and just that fandom, so I felt like I just wasn't prepared for that. I thought it was gonna be, I don't know what I thought it was gonna be honestly. But it was a it was, for me a little bit of a culture shock. Like I, I'm a fan of a lot of things like I love film,
TV, movies, everything. And I'm a huge fan of certain people love them. I mean, I don't know how I genuinely don't know how I would react if I just met them on the street or something like that. So it was just, it was a lot, it was a lot and jam packed into three days, or two and a half days really. And I did enjoy it. And I felt like I learned some things. And there are a lot of people and keep in mind just I'm going to preface this with I've been at home for like three and a half years. And
I don't go in large crowds. So like that, in general was a lot for me. It was overwhelming. And then just to also see the intensity of these fans. I wasn't really prepared for it. And it was just a little I was a little culture shell shocked by the end of it. But then after a couple days I started getting like I started was like okay, and like
just yeah, when we've already been talking about going back to like getting
into it more, but it was just, I'm such an introvert too, that it was just a lot.
It was overwhelming. Yeah, yeah. Because I'm an introvert as well. A lot of people assume I'm an extrovert, because I just seem really outgoing. And I like social interactions. But they do drain me. Yeah. So I was definitely by that last day. I was done. Alright, so let's get into our little schedule that we had worked out for our Kinja convention. Okay, first of all day one, the very first fucking thing we did with anybody from
the project. Of course, it had to be Misha, why did it have to be Misha?
Oh, but real quick before we do that, I just want to call it the sweet girl that was there alone that came over and gave out her COVID test to somebody when we're alive when we were alive. She was so sweet. And I could tell she was there by herself. And she was like, Hey, real quietly like anybody want does anybody need a COVID desk and the ladies in front of us. One of them was going to
purchase purchase one. So she bought it which the two ladies that were in front of us ended up being in the exact two seats
next to us. We ended up running into them the entire rest of the convention. Right? They thought we were funny. Sure. So I liked him. Yeah,
but I just thought that girl was so sweet. And I kind of I feel like we should have probably been like, Hey, friend, like come along with it.
I don't know, because we tried that with other people. And they did not like it. Yeah, but I just want to point out there's such there are good people. Yes. There were a lot of really, there were a lot of sweet people. It just seemed like a lot of people were very shy. Yes. Yeah. And I can seem very aggro to a shy person. I I'm convinced I terrified several people at this convention. So if that's one of you, and you're listening, I am so sorry. She just gets excited.
I just got excited. Yeah, she gets zoomies like dogs I do I do. I feel is that why you
like me? Oh my god probably. Oh my god. Yeah, see? All convention. Oh, forget about oh
my good. Okay so day one, Misha, now listen, I have so much respect for that man. Okay, well he's chosen to stand for charitable work his activism, if his authentic self is like 1/10 of the public persona that he puts out there, he's already a 10 however, Jared looked like Jared Jensen looked like Jensen. Like they looked like what they look like. Misha did not look like Misha in person. I was not prepared for how handsome that man is in person.
See, I was a little behind because where we're at the guys are still pretty young. So when I saw them, I was like, oh, like they look like them. They've aged a little bit. But damn, they still look good. Yeah. But Misha I haven't seen in the show yet, just from things you've shown me so I really didn't know.
It's I saw oh and Wilson once that Katy Trail Ice House and I'd never saw what the big deal was with Owen Wilson until I saw him in person. I was like, Oh, damn, he actually is hot. It doesn't translate completely across film. Like I saw him and I knew it was Owen Wilson. There was just a different layer there. Same thing with Misha and his eyes are so intense. So the first thing we did was the photo op with Misha and I did it myself because again, LA has no
idea who he knows yet. When you've heard people talking about their eyes drink you in their eyes pull you in. I've heard that I've seen it at books. I've seen it in descriptions. I've never looked at someone and thought that about them. Misha eyes, pull you and drink you in. The man is fucking gorgeous. I was not prepared. And after the picture, which I did no favors for myself in the picture. I like pulled my face back. I was so freakin happy in that moment. Whatever
it is what it is. I think I even skipped away from the denture I was so fucking happy. But something happened within like the two hours after that picture to where I went from. Oh my god, I really admire you and what you stand for to oh my god, I'm fucking terrified of you and I can't look at your face. Like intimidated. Maybe, maybe that's what it was. Like I was perfectly fine during the photo
op. It was afterwards when we knew we were about to see him again that I remembered his eyes and I just kind of was like, I can't look directly at his face again. And I just couldn't stand you. Yeah, I got Misha.
That's what I said. Yeah, I totally did.
So the next thing we did other than panels, like we got to watch panels, which means this panel was hilarious. I was gonna say wait, like, Hold on which panels did we see? We saw me shows panel after me shows photo op, right. And it was just him. Well, we got to see Richard and Rob, you're ready to introduce him a little bit. Our episode hasn't published yet, but we have seen tall tales. So we have been introduced to Richard Speight. Junior's
character in the show. So we were excited to hear His voice and see him. But it was Misha, his panel, which was hilarious because there was the guy that was dressed like Castile where he kind of made the jokes about the role playing stuff. Oh
my gosh, yes. Yeah. He like he was like my wife made me wear the Misha took it on and he like called out the wife in the in the audience. And he was like, does do you? Do you have to wear anything? And she's like, No,
it was it was really entertaining. It was a really light hearted quick witted, fun panel.
Well, if anybody hasn't been one like me, yeah. Like you're sitting in this large auditorium, and it pulled up right before he went out like the list of people on each side, right and left who could take who were chosen to ask questions. How
do you get chosen? That's what I was gonna Salani Yeah, how you get chosen? I don't know. Because
I think his was like, maybe 10 Each on each side, and then others were 15 each. But I thought that was I was like, how did they pick that beforehand? And so he chit chats before and then he he'll he'll go from one side to the other taking the the questions. Yeah. There were some funny ones. Oh, well, we saw the I figured you don't you want to talk about the story he talked about from for Arkansas.
Oh, that was really sweet. Somebody somebody said they were from Arkansas and apologized for it. And Misha told a story about I believe as a trans gentleman, a friend of his with a trans. Yes, getting treatment for something he didn't go into details, because it's not understandable. A really serious illness. Yes, it was serious and required intensive care. Hospice was involved at some point, didn't go into too much detail,
understandably. But it was talking about how they got treatment in the south got treatment in Arkansas and how the treatment was wonderful and
everything. Yeah. And he said that up north that it was not that they were not very kind and willing to help him. But as soon as they came down south, they were so open and just so loving and caring to him, and I think he got some treatments and in Arkansas and then I can't remember where else he went after that. That was hospice.
Thank you said Louisiana, but I don't remember exactly,
but he just said the way that that he was like, there was something to really true about Southern hospitality that they were just so kind and gracious and took, like, didn't judge him and just took care of him properly. And I thought it was so sweet. So he was like, you know, he may or may not, you know, be proud of being from Arkansas, but I think you should, cuz I mean, he's from
I'm assuming up north. So I mean, that's a big compliment to us down here, because that's how it should be everywhere, really. But I thought that was a really sweet story. And he seemed a little emotional when he was telling it, but yeah, and I thought how wonderful of him to help out his friends on, you know, in in their time of need and everything and to go with them through all
of that. Well, if hospice was involved. I don't know that that story had a happy ending, unfortunately, no, I
know. But like for him to I mean, they they clearly went to Arkansas for treatment, but then it ended up that way. So but I just think it's lovely that he was there shared that Yeah, and that he helped his friend in that way.
The panel, it was a wonderful mix. Misha spaniel was a wonderful mix of humor, vulnerability, fun facts. It was really good. Yeah, it was an excellent panel.
And I knew nothing about him, except for little tidbits you had told me here and there. But I just after that story, and a couple other ones he told I was like, He's a lovely man. Like, he really seemed like a nice person from just the little what, 30 Was it an hour?
I don't remember. Yeah, like, I think, maybe an hour 45 minutes to an hour. Yeah.
And he could have just like, answered their questions, which would have been nice, and he probably should have but I kind of liked their stories really more than them answering questions and stuff.
Same. So same, I agree. After Misha zpanel We watched rich Rob and Ruth. She has no idea who Robin Ruth are. She still has no idea who Robin Ruth are, but we wanted to see rich. We wanted to see Richard Speight Jr. So we watched that panel, and that was it was okay. It was fun. I liked Ruth. I liked the banter between the three of them. It was cute.
I liked her accent. Yeah. And I had no idea that she and Rob were together. So I learned that during the panel, but it was it was cute. There. The three of them were really cute. And I thought it was funny because I think they kept mentioning like, Rich was like the third wheel or they didn't say third wheel. But it was something else like
oh, they did rich kept calling himself the third. Okay. Yeah, they definitely did. It was a fun, very lighthearted panel. Well, that one,
though, to let me bring it down on each. But no, I thought that was also really sweet. Because I didn't I think you had mentioned to me that Rob had been sick. He had a stroke. Right. Yeah. He mentioned in the panel, how rich really saved him and helped him through all of that. And so yeah, I mean, they seem like very genuine friends. Yeah. And I thought that was really sweet that he said that during that, that. And you could tell Rich was like, Oh, buddy, no big deal. Don't say no. No
big deal. But I thought that was sweet.
It was cute. Yeah. And they have their kings of con thing that they do, which we're going to do some bonus episodes on that in the future. It'll be fun. We'll get more of rich and Rob. But first LA has to meet Rob and the show before we can do that, right? We're not that far along just yet. The next thing we did were autographs. We had autographs included on our package. We're going back to the autograph room. And we see Richard and we're thinking we're
going straight for Richard. And remember are the two ladies that we met in the COVID line who ended up sitting next to us were right in front of us. And they were both talking about Richard too. And I was like, Yeah, we're coming in here for some dick. And they were like, they were like, yeah, yeah, we are. Yeah, there's
cracks you like cracked up at you? Yeah. So
I was mentally prepared that we were going to Richard first.
Yeah, well, and we'll also let's say, let's remind everybody, like, I'm very awkward person. So I was expecting I was expecting like, like burly at times can be like a cool customer like confident whatever. And I was just like, oh my god, I'm gonna go in there and be like, like, frozen and just like not be able to function and just like shove my whatever at them to sign and just walk off and nothing. And I just figured Burley is gonna like, hey, just like chat, chat him up. And that was the
plan. Yeah, so
that's what we thought was gonna happen.
That was the plan. Okay, mentally prepared. We're going to Richard first. So we go get in line for rich. And then somebody, some handler person comes over and grabs me by the shoulders basically. And I was like, No, you guys need to come and move into this line, go to Misha and like, shoves us to the front of me shows line. And this is when it really hit me that oh my god, I'm terrified to look at this man. What am I going to do?
And we turn the corner and in our phone a photo op, he had on a jacket, we turn the corner he does not have on a jacket, his bear arms are out on display. I can't look at his face. I don't know what the fuck to do. There's like two handlers on either side of him. And the one closest to me, reaches out her hands for whatever I'm gonna have him autograph. So I hand it to her and I think of Hey, obviously she's going to hand it to him. He's going to sign it.
He's going to hand it to this handler on the other side of him. That's who I'm going to take it from. So I just was like, I can't let those eyes pull me and again, devil. No, no,
don't say that. I
admire you. I think you're an amazing human being, but oh my god, I can't look at you again. So I'm just gonna just go straight to this other handler.
So don't say God, not devil. Yeah, well, Angel.
There you go. Angel. Yes, Angel, sweet angel, baby. I just handed it to the woman walked right past him and went to the other woman. I don't know what happened after that point. So LA is going to have to take over.
So I'm, again, I'm fully expecting her walk up and be like, Hey, I'm here, like cute little self. And so standing there, and I just kind of observed the people ahead of us and like, yeah, the First Lady, you hand her what you want. Tell her where you want them to sign it. He takes it signs it hands it off to the other lady hands on. Well, instead, like burly hands it over to her walks practically to the end of the other side of the table, like
she's walking away. And I feel like you were doing your little thing you do sometimes where you kind of like, don't know you're dancing, but you're just like, kind of waiting and like, oh, god dammit. I'm not dancing just a little like,
I know exactly what you're talking about. I used I used to be a dancer sometimes. I don't know. I'm doing it. Right. It's just Oh, God.
I mean, nobody noticed me because I know you. So I'm standing there. And I it's just like, like, he looks like he's signing your canvas and looks at me. Like, I was like, what is happening? And he looks over at you. And he's like, she's walking off. And like, looks at me and just kind of chuckles and you're like, oh, shit, and you
come back and grab it. You say nothing to him, and just walk off and leave me I couldn't look at him when I think you just kind of like stun to the whole table and me was like, I I gave him my shirt. And like, right after he had handed that off to you, and he signs it. And we were just kind of like, like, like, looked at you to be like,
I was already gone. I took off. I was like, thank you.
And like, I walked off and I was just like, what just happened? Burly like, what the fuck
like, and I was like, I don't know. Let's go and I ran over to Jared Spool.
It was I just could not believe I was like, of all people that you're just gonna like, why don't you just walk right past him and like your, your shit.
I couldn't look at him. I don't know what else to tell you. His eyes pulled me in before okay. He angelic Misha trance to me once before, I wasn't prepared for it to happen twice. In one day. I wasn't prepared to get me shut again.
And his arms were very nice. I mean, it was a little rocky those earlier
right? We turned the corner was like holy shit. Yeah. Where did those come from? I get it. Thank you. So then we like run over to Jared. And we turn the corner. We get around Jared paddle like you sitting there. And he says, How's it going? And I don't know what how
before he before that. I know you're right. He said that. Yeah. He
said, How's it going? And I was just like, Oh my God. I just told him everything. I was just like, I freaked out in front of Misha I just completely vented to Jared. He doesn't give a shit. But I just told him everything that happened. And now I was so upset.
Well, as she's doing this lady's taking the cameras from her. And I'm like, make sure she gets it this time.
So that I look at LA and I go fuck off. And then Jared looks at LA and goes Yeah, fuck off.
And I'm saying like, I was like, I'm sorry. I just wanted to make sure she got her stuff.
So I like use Jared Padalecki as a therapist at this point to like vent about my Misha embarrassment. And he was so sweet. He was like, Yeah, I get it. I get it.
He said it. He was like, oh, yeah, he's like, he's a weird guy. Yeah, I get it. He was like sometimes I'm, you know, he's talking to me. And I'm like, oh, yeah, man, like, yeah, and then I just walk off. Yeah.
And then we went to Jensen. I don't remember anything happening at Jensen's?
Yeah, I mean, he I think he asked you what was going on? You were like, so much so much. And he was like, yeah, there's a lot.
It was. He doesn't even know. Because I don't think I told him the whole story. I don't I didn't give no no, I didn't give him the scoop. Like I gave Jared the
scale. I thought it was sweet of him that the little handlers that were around him. lady that was a couple in front of us. She gave him she's she had mentioned to us she gives them gummy bears every time she sees a Yeah, she was sweet. This time. She had like this sweet little Whiskey, whiskey glass and a bottle of whiskey. That was something special. And which were supposed to bring them gifts. Yeah, I didn't know. I didn't know I didn't get the
memo. She just handed him this piece of paper and asked him I think to put like a quote or something on it. And the first handling was like, um, do you
have anything shorter? And he was like, no, no, no, I thought that was really nice that because it's their job to like hurry the lines and get things going but I thought that was sweet that he was like No, no and like he did it for it kind of sucks in a way for them to because as much as they probably probably want to interact with their fans sometimes.
There's only so much time yeah. Yeah,
but I thought that was sweet that he did that. But yeah, we got through Jensen pretty quick. Yeah, there was nothing really
well we saw that woman come around the corner when we were in line and I thought I was worried like I wanted to go put my arm around her. I thought she was about to faint. She was something else she was into. She got Jared Jensen Jensen, she was into it. She say she was like, she said she needed some alcohol. She needed some weed. She needed a whole box of cigarette box of cigarettes. Yeah. And then she was asking the line if anybody. Like, I was like, I did, but I wasn't gonna
tell her that I had stuff. Like Oh, am I can't she was a hoot. She was a hoot. She was hilarious. And then we finally got to go back to Rich, who we were planning on going to first in the first place, we finally got to go back to Richard. And he's so fucking cute. I didn't talk to him very much. I just was like, Well, we were still trying to get out of there and whatnot. And I didn't have a special to say, I handed him my thing and just said, you know, sign it wherever you want. Put
it wherever you want. And he signed it. And then whenever you gave him your shirt, oh my God, my heart melted.
It was pretty sweet. Yeah, he just like kind of looked up at me. He had his hat on and he just kind of looked up from his head was like, Can I sign right here like in this sweet little boy? We just voice I was just like, I was kind of taken aback because none of the others asked if they could sign it. And honestly, it were jarred sign. I was like, Why the fuck did he pick there? And like he like I was like, the way he looked at
me after he was done. It was like, Is he looking at me like sorry for my shitty signature sorry, that I told you to fuck off. Also, Rich's placement of where he signed was the best like, Hey, guys, like pickup. It was a black shirt with white on it. So I wanted everybody to sign in white. Yeah, there's like these small little places. But rituals, like can I sign right here where it's clear and plain to sign something?
I just the way he looked up at you because I'm getting off to the side. So I got to see it. It was the
end like, like I said, it took me aback a little bit because none of the others have asked. And I was like, of course like, yes.
When you walked away, you were like, you can do whatever you want.
Just the way he said it. He was like he just had, he had good energy. Like I like picked up on that. And so like we walked away, I was like, could have signed it where he didn't
want it. Yeah. Oh my god. Yeah. Rich. Richard. Fans were fans. Yeah. So that was our day one was I got me Shuddh. And then we did autographs. And Jared told LA to funk off
told to fuck off. Real nice. Oh, nice to save your fan. Hope he hears this one day. I hope I get an apology.
And so when we got to the hotel, you told me you wanted me to jot this down for this conversation. So I did. We got to the hotel, and I can't remember why I was out in the hall. I can't remember it was getting ice or whatever. But I ended up running into somebody who had on a badge. So I came in and I told you Oh, there was somebody out there. And I just saw them. And I talked to them. And you asked me, Did you say hi to them? Or did they say hi to
you? And I told you no. I said hi to them because they weren't Misha Collins. And you and I just both died laughing.
It was the way you said it was. You were like No, I said hi to them. Because it wasn't Mr. Collins. Like,
obviously, I was able to speak I wasn't stunned into silence. And part
of why I asked that is because a lot of people at the convention that we kind of had tried to speak with it wasn't very much a reciprocal conversation. It was just like a quack quack. We don't
really want to chat. She didn't really want to chat with me either. Yeah. Which we'll talk more about that when we get to the concert and everything. Oh, yes. Oh, God. Yes. So day two, the first thing we had was the director chat with rich, which we both really wanted to do. And we got there late and I was so upset. But we they were stressing, I was stressing big time. Just because I know there are people out there who perceive you being late as
disrespect. Yeah. And I did not want that to be the message that we put out there at all because I completely respect him. I think his work is phenomenal. What would not want that to be the message that was received. So yeah, I was stressing
well, and I didn't realize like, I think I probably would have been stressing more if I'd realized how small of what it was. We were going to I tried to tell you, I guess after being in the auditorium and everything and you were like, Oh, it's a
small group. I didn't I still didn't think it was gonna be like, literally a classroom almost like a small classroom of like, like there was maybe 10 of like, 10 people like I had no idea so when we walked in, I was like, holy shit like, Oh my God, and I was like sweating because we were rushing so bad. Running in there. I had on a fucking flat we couldn't design
a room. We couldn't find the room. It was Ryan so maybe I would have been there on time if we knew where we were going and
it wasn't labeled properly because it was Glen Glen lake but it ended up being like Lynn pearl or that's probably not good. doesn't matter. But yeah, and then we got finally got in sat down. And then the lady's like, can you sit in the middle? Because he like wants everybody kind of closed. And
then he got called out to us like, yeah, I want you to sit in the middle. Yeah, just like oh, she's.
But then in a way, I was kind of glad that he wanted to smash everybody together. And then in a way I was also like already like respect like how good of you to like want everybody right in your viewpoint like that makes sense. You know,
like, if when we go back, if we go back if he's there, I definitely want to
do it again. Well, like I told you, I think that was one of my favorite things. Yeah, because it was so intention
met. And he was so just candid. And you can tell me when he really
enjoyed, yeah, that what he was doing. And so being able to talk to people in that intimate setting one on one almost really didn't even try to ask questions, because we came in late. Well, and I think part of why we didn't want to say anything, too, is because I think if there had been a lull in the asking of conversations we might have, yeah, but they were like, I mean, the people already in the room, like we're
on point, like, ready. And I think one lady had her hand up for a while, just like kind of waiting for the conversation to stop so she could get in. And we didn't want to take away from that since they we came. Who knows. I mean, he may have even chatted him up before. Yeah, all this started. So I mean, I think that was nice. We were respectful of that. Of course, we would would have liked to ask him some stuff. Like Next
time, we're going to make sure we get there early. For sure. Yeah. And we're going to be having hands raised.
Yeah, I kind of appreciated the technical part of his directing that he talked about a lot about from some of the questions that came in, because a lot of the lens things and things he was talking about lens things and things, lens things and things and things I slightly knew about, like in my classes, because they were online. I don't have any experience of that. But yeah, I thought it was he just seemed I literally saw
one episode with him. Right. But I will say I think I've seen him and other things in the door. Yeah, I thought he was so wonderful in that group, how he looked everybody in the eye, even like the person that asked the question, and this is big for me, because I'm kind of bad with eye contact sometimes when I'm talking but I love when people are good with it. Because it's nothing he gets them. It's like I think I just naturally like start to look up or away when
or they're Misha Collins and you're worried they're gonna steal your soul. So you have to look away from there. I
think you would probably want him to steal your soul.
I don't want him to steal my soul. I got some other things he can have that he wants.
Oh, but anyway. Yeah, he was just lovely, and just very genuine, great information. And I felt like some of the younger people that were in there that he addressed some things with I was like, that's great. He was amazing. Yeah, like great advice. Yeah. And he took pictures with everybody at the end. little selfie picture. Oh, yeah. And that's the thing, like people had to pay to get
pictures with him. But he was so nice that he like he was like, Come on, let my handler whoever it was that was cuz she was like five minutes, five minutes. And I think he went over it's five minutes. He did. I mean, he's a chatty Cathy. I liked it. But yeah, he was so sweet. And you like straight up right away apologize. And he was so nice and gracious and sweet. He's like, No, don't worry. And what did you say? Oh, we took the picture. I look pregnant in the picture.
At least you don't look like you're like fucking on PCP like I do in my in my Misha pictures look like how do you don't look
for Oh my God. Oh, anyway, but he was so sweet. And the you burly is like, I can't remember exactly how you like to hear you.
I barely not your soccer, but we're about to follow you over for your other photo up because we didn't know you're taking pictures in here. Right.
And I think he just kind of chuckled, but I don't think he actually heard what you said. And so we kind of like him and his handler walked out and you walked out first.
I have a note here regarding this. Yes, please
announce it because I made you to make a noise because I was like, what, like after the panel like after just sitting there in that intimate setting. And then he did. He kicked that leg out and I was like,
we're we're Yeah, we're walking out behind and the door starts to close on us and he stops and catches the door with his foot. Yeah, and LA and I both just fucking melted like if we weren't if we weren't like Richard Speight, Jr, Dick fans before this, we were after. And it just got me thinking. It just got me thinking I was like, oh my god, we need to raise our standards. He caught the door with his foot. He didn't like us up in his arms. He didn't like give us the best orgasms of his
lives. He literally caught a door with his foot so it didn't close on us. Okay, and you and I both freaking just melted that but that also
just goes to show you like once again. We've been inside for like a half year.
Like we've had a lot of assholes that we've dated. We are incredibly disillusioned with men going into the pandemic God yes. And a lot of men that we were exposed to at least we're showing In their asses during the pandemic, so like, yeah, Richard Speight Jr. Totally did seem like Prince Charming.
Honestly, the kicker was like, the most shiver shippers thing that's happened to me in probably four years. Sadly, I'm not even kidding. Like, yeah, I'm sorry. Like, he kicked that foot out. And I was like, Oh my god. Oh my gosh, what a gentleman.
And then when we went across the photo, and he was like, Oh, well, Hello, lady. A long time. No, see?
Oh, hey, at least do you remember that? And he seemed excited to see us. Oh, he's
so sweet. Cute. He is so key.
So that's a good picture.
Yeah, it was cute. Yeah, no,
my hair is boring. And I
my hair was flat by that by that day. So this was Sunday. This was our this was our like we got was that the end of our Saturday? The end of our Saturday was me making the ass of myself during autographs.
But that was like We skipped over the concert. Oh, we did? Yeah,
we did. Okay, so yeah, so that was Sunday morning was Richard Speight, Jr, right. Oh, all right. So let's rewind. Let's rewind it back. So Saturday night was a concert with Louden Swain, and special guests. Kim Rhodes came and sang hurt by Nine Inch Nails. shaky start. Right. But she nailed it by the
G and the guitars just weren't matching up. Yeah, I couldn't tell who was I don't know
what was happening there in the beginning, but they got it. They did. They picked it up and I got chills. Yeah, she
seemed so she seemed a little nervous. I think you said something about her hand.
I thought I saw her hand shaking. I'm not certain about that. She was like,
oh my god in her mind. But I mean, redeemed like crazy. So so
good. So Kim Rhodes and I chef's kiss. Oh,
I have no idea who she is.
I hope she Yeah, you don't know who she is yet. But her character in the show. You're gonna love her. But yeah, performance. I hope she does more stuff. Because that was it was really good.
I mean, I love that song. I
love so many versions of it. But she was like, I don't think I've heard a woman sing it. I haven't either. So she did a really good job. There's just some vulnerability to her voice. It just built as the song went on. It was it was really good. Yeah. And then Jason mans and Rob Benedict did a duet on Hallelujah. And la got really emotional during that fall.
Well, okay, so I Okay, there will there's I think this documentary that just came out from the guy who wrote that song and sing it originally. But Jeff Buckley's version is like my everything. I every time I hear it, I weep. And so the song in general is just a beautiful song. So when they started, I was like, Holy shit, like, first of all, I hadn't heard it in quite a while and I don't I can't even remember a time when I heard it. Somebody singing it
live. I wasn't expecting much because I'm very picky about that song. But they did a really good job.
The Harmony was,
I mean, really, really good. And so yeah, I was I was impressed and it just I did record a little bit of it just because that's not necessarily a song people thing for a Saturday night concert. Well know what's the word a cover? A cover song that a lot of people sing at a concert because it's not necessarily like a get picky up song. But I thought they did a good job. It was pretty it was good. I was so happy to hear it again. Because I tried.
You were like there's one point when I looked over and you just had your eyes closed? Yeah, cuz you just looked freaking like not ecstatic. What's the word I'm looking for? It
was like Zen Zen. Yeah, be here. Oh, happy because I don't listen to it that much. Because I get weepy every time I hear. I usually stood around Christmas time, but I didn't this year. So yeah, it was just so nice to hear. And like I said, I honestly don't think I ever heard it live. I've heard the Jeff Buckley live version on like a recording, but never in person. So I think that's what was so exciting and nice about it.
The harmony is like I said Robin addict and Jason man, they did so well with us harmony. They were perfection. I was very excited. It was so good. It was so good. And I
was also like very taken aback by what a tree trunk of a man Jason man. He's huge was like holy shit. That's a big guy. Big man. Like not like fat like he is tall. Are we gonna go get off with him? Yeah. You could probably pick both of us up. We need an arm. Yeah, maybe
you can get a photo op with him. I think Oh my God. We should do that next time. Yeah, somehow,
like, I don't know. And I again, I have no idea who he is or whatever. But I was just like, holy shit. He's a big dude. He's big for him. Like he looks good. Yeah, he ate his Wheaties and drink his milk.
He started a Yeah, like it a lot sturdy like an oak
tree. What is it in? Is it bridesmaid's where she's like? I would climb him like a tree. Yeah.
Which speaking of there was also another special guest, Jen Synack.
Oh, oh, so we met a lady in the bathroom. As we do.
I don't remember this. You don't she wasn't really. I got drunk at the concert. We snuck in well stuff. Creation entertainment. I hope you're listening to this. We snuck in some stuff to the concert. So I was I was drunk.
Oh, I mean, come on. There were other people drinking out the Chi
smelled weed at the con. Oh, I
did you know about drinking, though. There were plenty of people drinking. if not before, after or during. So we met a lady in the bathroom and she I think she made a comment. I can't remember how it started. But listen, first of all, let me preface this. We're Texas. Okay. Yeah, in the bathroom. I mean, I'm sure this is everywhere. But like the boys are from Texas. We're overly proud of them being from Texas. We are we feel like we owed them a little bit more than they were a little
dedicated. Yeah.
So we were chatting with her. And we were walking back from the bathroom. And I think she had mentioned Kim Rhodes performance and like how much we liked it and things were going so well and the band was great. And on the way back, she said she said you think Jensen is going to come out and I was like well I hope so. I was like he better because I was like it's sinful if you come to your hometown and not to mention it's not just like he's in his like Dallas Dallas
like up in a jump away from Richardson and we know that's where you grew up right why is that better be getting your ass out here to saying
which I thought it was funny at the end of the variant on Saturday they were like we're in Plano it's Dallas proper. There's a lot of cities nearby because I guess people would probably correct them like no no no, I'm from this I'm from garland. I'm from from from I'm rich Richardson. I'm no one hairs. Yeah, it's like your Dallas proper just say Dallas it's fine. I think there was one one that said like Arlington Dallas was like no, no Arlington and Fort Worth your separate
from. Okay, let's get it right. So him growing up and I think he Plano Richardson. I think he went to school in Plano. But he lived in Richardson. I don't know. Anyway, I was like, we're in Plano. He grew up here. I was like, it's sinful if he doesn't. And I was like, I'm gonna be disappointed like in a fucking matter. I felt personally, like, how dare you did that I will be very disappointed in you. And she was really nice to not make me feel like it was crazy and saying that she just laughed.
And we actually did end up running into her the next day. She was behind us in a line for one of the pictures. And you had you had taken this when I was high. Yeah. So I wasn't well, I wasn't in the position, really to carry on a conversation and clearly you weren't. But she was like clearly trying to make conversation with us. Because like that special guest did come out and she was chatting us up.
And I was just like you I mostly didn't want to talk to her so much because of you because I was like, I was trying to like just like shield you from like, any kind of weirdness. And I was just like, I don't think she should be talking to anybody right now. But I also didn't know what to say to this lady besides like, oh, yeah, it was great. We had great time. Like remember
any of this man? Yeah.
So But back to the special guests because his let me tell you. Yeah, I wasn't disappointed.
It was so good. It was so good.
It was um, oh, God was
sob SON OF A BITCH by
Nathaniel Ratliff and the night sweats are right, right, left, right, lift. Nathaniel Ratliff in the night sweats. Son of a bitch. Yeah, it was the song. And he killed it.
He did. Yeah, it's one of his goes to so I've actually seen videos of him performing that song before really that particular performance. I mean, there was a point in the middle where he knocked over a microphone stand. I mean, he went all out well, and at the
end, he was like, sorry, I broke your shift. But we also learned that right before Jensen came out when Jason mans was getting off the stage from their hallelujah performance. Do you remember this? No. Rob totally goes about this. Telling us personally
in our personal one on one conversation with Robin,
okay, no, I'm not saying that. We're kidding. We're kidding. We're kidding. No onstage with one of the panels well in Roberts telling rich that the concert the night before that Richard and him did the Hallelujah and and Richard when he was about to get off or no, I'm sorry. Jason. Jason, when he was about to get off stage like went up to reg and was like, Hey, man, Jensen said he had something to do he like he's not going to make it. Like right before like, Rob was
supposed to announce him. And Rob was like, Are you pretty freaked me out? He's like, Nah, man. I'm just kidding. Like, walked off the stage. And I was like, that is so perfect. Like, I love that they fuck with each
other so much. Like I assume anyway, just from that and a couple other things they said and what we've seen on bloopers, but I was just like, poor Rob and that moment probably like magic just like, like melted like was like Are you fuck, like what am I about to do like, and then he's just like, Ah now man. I'm just playing with Yeah, like, so I thought that was really funny.
The other wonderful thing about the concert was that we met Sean till who we follow on Twitter and she She is just always posting these positive messages on Twitter. She's a positive light because Twitter can be scary. I'll tell I've said it on here before. There's some things I've seen on Twitter. This scares me. We don't get a lot of engagement on Twitter. It seems like almost every time I try to go on there, I see something scary. But Sean till she's always just posting
positive things. And I thought I recognized her from her picture and the first day and I didn't say anything, but then I was drunk by the concert. So I didn't care. And I ended up saying, hey, like, are you that girl who's always posting like, wonderful things on Twitter? She just smiled. It was like, probably.
Well, and I thought it was cute. Because I think it was I would think it was Saturday, or Yeah, it was Saturday. And you you mentioned that you had seen her and you were like, wanting to go up to anything, but I wasn't but certain it was her right. And I was like, well, just like you were like, I don't want to like her to think I'm weird. I was like, honestly, you just go up dry. But she would fucking love that shit. Like, it's like somebody having a fan,
you know? So then after you'd had a couple drinks, a little a little tips, little sips. And he would told me about her because I'm not great with our social media. I will. I will admit it. I'm gonna try to be better. So yeah, you told me about her and she was adorable. So sweet. So cute. So pretty. And like just another one exuded good energy. Just wonderful. And yeah, she was so sweet. And I think you you said something about you said so how's positive she was and like to follow her somewhere
else or something? Or am I wrong? You only she's only on Twitter. She's not on Instagram or any of the other ones.
We might follow her on Instagram as well. But I just haven't Instagrams like pictures. It's not she posts like positive messages that she types out herself.
Yeah, you sent me a couple and like, just gorgeous, like beautiful, gorgeous human. What a beautiful little soul. Yeah, I mean, but yeah, so she was sweet as can be. We saw on Sunday a couple times. And every time we saw her smile. Hi. And I think you apologize. You were like, Sorry for being drunk. But she loved it. You could tell she loved it. So I'm happy you. You said that to her because that and like she said You made my night?
Yes, she did. She No. Speaking of apologies. Well, and
can you shout her out? Like do you know her handle or any? Yeah, I'll tag her. Okay.
But speaking of apologies after the concert, I feel like I was like a kid who had been homeschooled and then was sent to the playground and told go make friends. And I just was that's what I feel like I was I just I was not socializing really? Well. There was a very kind person with pink hair who I know we talked to and I'm certain that I scared that person. And I remember there was a person who would who told us that she was in C 15. Because she turned around was like, I
don't know who y'all are. But y'all are hilarious.
As we were like, simply just chatting about each other about I don't know what was funny, but I guess we're talking about fucking
she was like, hilarious. And we talked to her and she seemed really nice. And we were trying to get her to come hang out with us, too. We were trying to get pink hair and C 15 Come hang out with us. Let's go get drinks. Let's go do something. Let's hang out. Let's have fun.
Well, let me say like all weekend, you kept talking about how the hotel we stayed out, didn't have a bar hotel we stayed at didn't have a bar.
And I posted it on social media. I was like, hey, this hotel doesn't have a bar. What's What's up, no one said anything. So apparently, I was the only person at this convention who cared about that.
Well, and also there was another hotel that I guess was listed for people to go to and but we found out they also right have a bar so but I think your assumption was like there was some hotel where everybody was like, kind of hanging out in this fandom like chit chatting being friends, whatever that was, and it just wasn't the case. Yeah, I will say like, one of the things that struck me was the age range of all the fans
there. I mean, it was from bra I saw people who had to have their parents there like came with their parents all the way up into like, we're probably retired probably like 70s Yeah, or so wide range. So I don't care though. I'll
drink with some 70 year old my
god, are you kidding? That's like my my people,
right?
I am like, no joke. Like, every time I get together with my dad's side, and like they're their friends or whatever I like, instead of people my age, I end up talking to people like in their 60s or older and I'm like, let's talk let's chat. Like I identify with them more than like younger, say
pink pink hair. I think that we overwhelmed pink hair, but see 15 She seemed like she wanted to hang out maybe. But I definitely feel like by the time our Uber got there that she was ready to be rid of us. Right. And it was kind of late, but we were a little much like I had I was like reel it in. We probably needed to just go home and drink some water and go to bed. It was like Yeah, especially the next
day was busy. Yes. Yeah. So speaking of the next day, so we started off the next day with Richard Speight, Jr, as we've already talked about with the director chat and all that. After that we had our Jared and Jensen photo op coming up. I I decided before that, that I needed to eat a special gummy. So I child download a special gummy. You had some two? Yeah, at a quarter. Yeah. And I was very happy. We'll say, by the time we got to our Jared and
Jensen photo op. And while we were allied LA was asking me like, okay, who's gonna go where? What are we going to do? And I was like, Okay, you go to Jared and I'm gonna go to Jensen for this picture. And then whatever it was our turn. I guess I just decided Jared was my comfort person for some reason. Yeah, you like Beeline? Did I beelined it straight to Jared. I told I did completely opposite of we were gonna do
Yeah. And I think that's what threw me. So like, then they were like, looking at me. And I was just like, where do you want me like, I was looking at you. But I had no
direction. I was stoned. And I just went straight to Jared. And I just like went rap my own route. I was happy as could fucking be. I was content. And por la what happened? Didn't you say Jensen like ended up man handling you into position?
I say man Hill, but he like gently like, like, he was like, he just took control and was like, hey, like grabbed me like by the shoulders and like, put me next to him. And I was just like, oh, what? And so we took the picture. And I was just like, okay, and then as I was walking, I was like, thanks to nobody in particular, like no eye contact. I was just like, thank you. And Jared like squeezed my shoulder and I like slowly turned. I was like, oh my god,
what a sweetheart. So I think we should go ahead and say like, for most of the series, LA has been a pretty deign, loyal girl like she's Lena. Jensen. She likes that Jensen. She likes that day. But after the convention, she's like, I don't know. Jared turned me. He told me to fuck off and I listen.
Okay. Now that sounds really messed up. But I just thought it was very cute that he joined in our conversation and he wasn't in like a mean way. He was just joining our conversation, like knowing we were friends. And like, oh, yeah, fuck off. And then like I said, when he was handing me my shirt, it was almost like he gave me this look like I'm sorry. But then the shoulder squeeze and then we have we had another picture with him or was that before this one?
No, it was another one after because this is the one where I was like, Okay, I'm high. I'm good. Yeah, I'm gonna be fine. Because it's Jared Jensen and Misha, I'll be fine. And then as we got closer and closer, I was like, Oh, God, no, I still can't look at him. I just went and wedged myself between Jared and Misha, want us to look at Misha that you were stuck again. Well, that one you were
like, you go first. It was like, I don't fucking know what she wants. Like, because this was more your thing than mine. So I was like, I don't know. All I knew is he wanted to be by Misha. So I just went to in between Jared and Jensen. And once again, Jensen, like, I felt like like just put me in position and like I was there and I was just like, Oh my God. And then like I immediately it was like, was this fucked up?
Like, did I should I have let her do but you told me to go first and like I did not
know what to do. And even in the picture I'm like squeezed closer to Jared because again, he's apparently apparently we'd got me plus your paddle lucky makes Burleigh happy. Yeah, so I was like squeezed closer to Jared like moving away. Like you can tell I'm like leaning away from Misha, right. And it's just like, I was wrong. What's wrong with me?
But again, oh my god, hey, but again, when we were done and I said thank you to nobody in particular, no eye contact. I was just saying it when I
just ran away. But ran from Misha as quickly as I could.
Jared gave me another shoulder squeeze. So I was like, I was like, I'm gonna be like that whatever people say like it's the shoulder squeeze for me. It's the telling me to fuck off and the shoulder squeeze. He sold me did
it. He sold you. Yeah.
But I just thought that was cute. It's like, I'm very aware. He probably does that to everybody. Like, I'm not special. Like, like, I get it. But I just thought that was so sweet that he like he didn't have to do that. And like, I'm sure they realize, like people are like, have no idea what to do or nervous. And like, yeah, it wasn't that I was nervous. I just like didn't fucking know what to do. But I was expecting you to give me direction when I went up there. But you lost all
direction. I know times. Yeah. Both times. Yeah. So it was just Jensen and gave me the direction and put me where I needed to be. Yeah. And then Jared gave me my shoulder squeeze. And I was like, Alright,
I'm good. I was stoned at that point. What did you expect me to do? In fact, I peaked when we went back into rich and Rob's panel where it was just the two of them. And I realized, oh, this might have gotten away from me. When Jason mans, I think introduced them and they came out. And they had been out there talking for a little bit. Yeah. And then all of a sudden, for whatever reason, they were like, oh, yeah, we got to introduce the next guest and they like ran backstage and then re introduced
themselves. Yeah. And I realized I realized I was cackling and that people were turning around and looking at me and I was like, Oh God,
the anybody was looking at you, or were
some people Ahead of us that returning round I'm looking at me, because I just thought it was fucking hilarious. And then the other thing I took a note about that I was laughing my ass about laughing my ass off at was that the whole Heywood Gibble me? Oh, yeah, alias for the hotel that wasn't even really real. I was laughing my ass off with that as well. They were so funny. And then the way Richard talked about his wife. Oh my god.
Oh, yeah. Oh, and well, because they call her the machete. Yeah, but then they like Claire. They kept saying that through a couple of their panels. But then he clarified that she's a fucking amazing person. Well in that like she's apparently she like they were kind of putting it on that she like hated Rob and whatnot. But then they they were like, no, she loves Rob. Yeah. And like she's an Rob was like she's a total sweet are like she just plays along on their podcast. Yeah.
But yeah, the way supersweet just the way he talked about his wife. I was like, Oh my God. Yeah. Well, lucky woman. He's apparently a very lucky man. But also Rob did mention that Rich has multiple ex wives. So I'm just gonna say if there's a waitlist. Sign me up. You did say that. Yeah. based off of how he was talking. I don't think that's going to be an issue. It sounds like he's pretty smart and pretty well off there. But I'm just saying if there is a waitlist, how do I get on it?
Right here, right. Also, I wouldn't mind being called a machete. Okay, that's a pretty cool nickname.
It was really cute. There panel. I almost was disappointed because we got called to go do our photo op during their panel. And I was almost disappointed. We were having to leave to go yeah, like I was honestly like cutting off scheduled this a little differently. Like, why are we having to leave Robin Rich's panel? Well, they were
also super behind that day. Like I think they mentioned it was gonna be 30 minutes behind everything. And so it got a little disorganized. But
I would have liked to also Robin Rich's whole panel though, because they were so funny.
I feel like we also could have stayed in there a little longer and like caught the tail end of the pictures probably just to say we should have done what we did. So
we saw our thing flash that it's like, oh, Jared Jensen and Misha, if you're this number through this number, you need to go get in line and we followed the rules just like we did for everything else. I don't know how much we're going to be doing that next time.
I also wanted to point out that another thing that you'll love about rich that he
is this is this episode is Richard Speight, Jr, our Valentine,
maybe you just because I mean, for me, it was the highlight of it just because we got it
you would have thought it would have been me show for me, Jensen for you. Right. But it's like, no, we're all changing, Jr. and Jared pedelec as
well. I just liked it because we got to have that like little intimate, intimate q&a with him. And he closed the door with us. He was like, oh, it's no big deal. He was chivalrous that he was excited to see us in the thing. But I also loved because I think you and I think we might have addressed this in one of the episodes but the lady the girl that played mag, the lady that played mag. Oh, he
did. Yeah. I don't think anybody mentioned it but he just out of the blue and one of the panels, like mentioned how lovely she was and I thought it was so great. He said that the that first season that she was in, he really he was like that season like with her because of her is why supernatural went on to be so successful because she was so fucking good in that first season. And I was like, I totally fucking agree. Like he's completely right. She was so
good. And I thought it was really nice that he had said that they tried to get her on the podcast, their podcast
that I was about to say that's what it came from. Somebody asked if you could have anybody on the podcast who there has been, and he said that that was somebody they were trying to get on to make it happen, but because she was battling her illness and all of those things, they weren't able to make it happen. Yeah,
what he said they didn't even know that they had called and tried to get her on and they somebody heard her people were like, Ah, she's a little under the weather. Like, you know, let's try later on. And then unfortunately, she passed I've you know, I just thought that was so nice of him to say that about her and everything and and what a what a thing to say that like the show wouldn't have been what it was without her and he's kind of right because she was like a badass and that she's one of
the reasons you and I got hooked. Yeah, sure. 100% One of the reasons you and I got hooked Yeah,
she was so good. I thought that was there. Yet again. Another thing for me to brag about rich, so sweet.
Is Richard Speight, Jr, our Valentine and thinking like saying like he might be okay, so for our first Valentine's Day special, a denim wrapped nightmares. Happy Valentine's Day Richard Speight, Jr. Yes. Your doll
Yeah, you are kind gracious, smart. Shilpa was chivalrous, adorable, adorable. I'm just repeating things are saying. He's so fucking cute, but just also Super Down to Earth. Like you could tell. Just a nice guy. I
was not expecting us to leave of the convention just being like, oh my god, Richard Speight.
Hello me either like, Oh my God. Yeah, he's he's wonderful. And yeah, he's I say he's,
he's our Valentine. Yeah. So that was our first con. Yeah. And we'll see how it goes. When we go to another one. At some point in the distant future. We're not planning to go again anytime soon. We need to recover. Yeah, yeah. It was an experience. Yeah, Sibelius. But one, we do hope to repeat. So Happy Valentine's Day listeners. We hope you enjoy this bonus episode.
Yes, Valentine's Day to everyone. Yes, single, married, not married. And Richard
Speight, Jr. We apologize in advance for our tall tales episode. It is a doozy. We had wrapped up and closed it out. And then remembered, we had one more thing to talk about. The last thing we did at the event was the Jared and Jensen panel. And if you're wondering why things sound a little different, because LA is on the phone, we wanted to hurry up and get this recorded before our memories completely blanked out. Which during Jared and Jensen this panel, I was starting to get
sleepy. But it was still really entertaining. Yeah, it was cute. The story about how Jensen accidentally stabbed Jared in the thigh. I think it was yeah, like right above his knee. I think. Yeah, that was a really interesting story. So when we get to those episodes, I hope I remember it and see if we can catch when it happened. Because I think Jensen said that was the tape they used that that's
what's in the show. Yeah. Remember, one of the questions that people asked was like, What do you think is the best character you've portrayed? And what's the worst one and they were saying they don't like soldier boy. And I was like, Are you fucking kid like his performance in the boys? Jensen Ackles. I love it. I'm gonna slap you like Connery. And he nailed it. So I don't know what that person was talking about.
Yeah, I mean, I think that's there's somebody like super Dean focused when he like somebody asked him, I can't remember what the question was, but he was going on about, like, just do the work. And he was talking about being on days of our lives. And that I think the lady, the lady that played Marlena, she was like, you know, just make hit your mark, know your lines and stay out of my life. And that's exactly what I did for three years. Like he
said, I just did the work. And he was like, you know, don't come on a set thinking you have any anything is like, entitled to you just do the work. Then then they talked about like setting the tone on sets. And that they set the tone for supernatural for so long. And it was like it's such a good fun set. And then they were talking about with their new shows that like he said, Jared already set like a really good precedent on Walker and all that. So that was pretty interesting. I just liked
that. He was like, humble. He's, they both
seem to be pretty grounded and humble. Yeah. Yeah. And then speaking of Walker, I started it since you started watching it. I was like, I guess I should watch that one too, because I've already watched Big Sky. I haven't started the Winchesters because I don't want spoilers for supernatural. And I don't even know that I know everything that's going on there. But I was like, Hey, we're planning to watch Gotham knights. We're gonna watch kings of Khan and just like shit. So
much stuff. Yeah, we did. We figured we did need to address you know, the main event.
It was really cute. I wish I could remember more of like what was said? Yeah. Parents were
there though. Oh, yeah. That was cute.
