Berly

Welcome to denim wrapped nightmares tipsy exchange Podcast where we explore the supernatural series episode by episode.

LA

over drinks, we'll discuss the lore of gore and what we adore about the Winchesters and their adventures.

Berly

I'm burly, and I'm a new fan of the series.

LA

I'm LA, and I'm here along for the ride. Now let's get tipsy. Lm la Hello Burley. On our last episode. It was called. It's been a couple of Chris angel is a douchebag. And there was a mysterious death that drew Sam and Dean to a town full of old school magicians. Their investigation led them to Charlie J. And Vernon three guys were friends magicians had been what came up together. But they've now been replaced by flashy or younger do sheer

magicians. And one of them made a deal to acquire real magical powers. But the price was extremely high and Sam and Dean had to figure out a way to reverse the spell before more people were murdered.

Berly

We forgot to say what we were drinking. Oh, I'm actually drinking water because I've already had three Misha Collins

LA

did you I was just thinking I was like, I shouldn't have bought another drink. I didn't realize you'd switch to water.

Berly

Yeah.

LA

Well, I'm having a mimosa. I myself. Great.

Berly

I've had three Misha Collins. Okay, let's six shots of vodka. True. Fair enough. This episode has flashbacks. Okay. I'm nervous enough. We'll be good. I don't do well with these. You'll do good. Okay, so today's episode is after school special. It's the 13th episode of season four edited originally aired on January 28 2000. Wow. 2009. What just happened? Oh, I felt like my tongue got bigger for some reason. Whoo. Okay, so the episode opens up. We're in a

lunch room at a high school. And right away, we hear slut shaming immediately. There's a table of the popular kids cheerleaders football players, what have you making fun of one of their own? Because she apparently hooked up with somebody over the weekend and did the reverse cowgirl and everything. Which overrated position in my opinion.

LA

True. I was like, okay, she got some good for her. Yeah, I don't think she that classifies her as a slug.

Berly

Yeah, same. So after she slept shamed, she goes and sits at another table where a classmate tries to console her. And this popular girl who just got bullied herself, decides to retaliate by calling this little sweetie. A fat ugly pig. Not and I didn't like it. At all. Hurt people hurt people. Yes. But still, like you literally just got bullied five seconds ago. Right? Literally and this person is just trying to console you. We jump ahead to the next day.

The popular girl who had gotten bullied is in the bathroom just staring at herself in the mirror crying, trying upset messing with her hair. The girl who had tried to console her, appears behind her suddenly. It's like you think I'm ugly. smashes her face in the mirror smashes her face on the sink, drags her to the toilet and drowns her in the toilet water. She stands up and says I'm not ugly. As this black goo starts oozing out of her eye. And we immediately called

it that it was awesome. Was it just me? Okay, it was Ecto plasm. It looks like the goop from no exit. Which we haven't seen since no exit I don't think.

LA

Yeah, I don't think so.

Berly

Yeah. And then we get supernatural flipping pop, pop pop. Yeah, we cut to I guess it was like juvie. Or maybe it was a mental institution because what she was saying, yeah. And we see the girl who was trying to console the other girl at the beginning and she's looking out the window. She just looks like a renaissance. She had a beautiful profile. She looks like an old Renaissance painting or something. And Sam is interviewing her about the whole

incident. And she's explaining that she was aware of what was happening. But she wasn't in control of her own body.

LA

Yeah, she never wanted to kill the girl. She never had that urge.

Berly

She said that even while it was all happening she was trying to stop it but just literally was not in control. And Sam had on white scrubs, which we haven't seen him in white scrubs, all white scrubs since houses of the holy it was a welcome appearance. Yeah And then I was ranting about what happened to them wearing costumes like we had the security were with the security company costumes with the little

name badges and everything. And then Sam was dressed up like a sheriff once and we haven't seen them dressed up like priests and a little bit. Well, I guess we saw Dean dressed as a priest not too long ago. But luckily, we got some costumes later on in this episode. We'll talk about that when we get to them. But I was very happy to see the return of Sam, and the all white scrubs. Me too. It was nice. Even though they decided to put a T shirt on underneath it.

LA

They love to layer those boys. You complain about

Berly

the layers quite a bit.

LA

Every time they're at least they always have two shirts on.

Berly

That's Canada. What do you want? Canada?

LA

They're not always supposed to be in Canada.

Berly

I know. But that's where they actually are. You want these boys cold? You want their nipples. You want those nips broken through that single layer of clothing. So we see Sam walking out to the car putting on another layer. Putting on his jacket gets in the Impala tells Dean about the interview. And they're thinking it's a demonic possession. Even though she didn't say she smelled sulfur and she didn't say she saw any

black smoke. In fact, whenever Sam was asking her the questions, she was like, Are you fucking crazy? Which was funny because they were like in a mental institution. Sam insists that they need to go check out the high school and Dean mentions the school the mascot, what have you and it's just like, Yeah, we went to school there for like a month.

LA

Yeah, it's like Truman high school, school, the bombers.

Berly

They went, they went there for like a month in 1997. Dean doesn't seem excited about going back and he's giving Sam shit like acting like Sam is super gung ho about going back. He didn't seem like he was all that excited either. So projecting much what's going on here. Dean's asking, what's our cover? Gonna be? Homeland Security, FBI. Like, how are we going to get into the school? Let's see. I was like, Oh, don't you worry about that. I've got it. Oh, got it covered. I got it

situated. So I guess maybe I'm wrong. Sam must have been a little excited about it and that he had already applied for these jobs and got them to be at the school. We see some flashbacks of young Sam and Dean attending Truman high. Would you say home home with the bombers? And the height difference is just insane. Yeah,

LA

Sam must had a real big growth spurt at some point during high school. Yeah.

Berly

A 14 year old Sammy is like five feet tall. And then dean is practically fully grown already. So I'm guessing Dean was supposed to be a senior and Sam was supposed to be a freshman and based off of their age difference. And Dean is kind of like the Fonz, man, just like the characterization of him like a like a cool guy, leather jacket. And the actor. It was wonderful casting, wonderful casting. I really wish they had put some green contacts on him though. He had beautiful brown

eyes. They were beautiful brown eyes. But those weren't Dean's eyes. And it was distracting to me. Sam, you don't have to worry about it. Jerry Powell Lucky's eyes change in every other fucking scene to a different eye color. So Sam can be fine, but Dean's eyes are green. And this guy's eyes were very brown. Only only criticism thus thus far. We'll see if I come up with anything. But otherwise, I thought the actor nailed it. It

was a little character ish. But you were also in high school who wasn't putting on an act or a performance in freakin High School. Yeah, we see they're showing up. And something said about how it's like the third school. They've attended that academic year and it's only November. So they bounce around schools quite a bit.

LA

Like it shows them go into their classrooms and the freakin teachers. Do you want to tell the class anything about yourself? Which I frickin hate. I always hate to do that.

Berly

Why did they do that? Why would like you're the most self conscious Yeah, age of your life. And your teeth. Why would they do that to you?

LA

Oh, I felt for them. I but I like they were both like, No, I don't really

Berly

know. I also liked when they were pulling up to the school. The license plate was different. Oh, yeah. Completely different from what we've seen so far. In fact, we spotted that first and we were like what is happening before we even realize oh, it's a flashback. Whoever was driving the car was not a John Winchester though.

LA

I didn't catch that. But I You mentioned it. Well, I don't think we were meant to really pay

Berly

attention to it. So we'll just blame that on me. Purposely looking at the car to see who's driving. I don't know how many weirdos did that I did. It did not a John Winchester make but that's okay. He did good driving and stopping and then driving away. And that's all he really needed to do. I think in their classes. Dane is you know being the bad boy getting the intrigue of the ladies in the class and Sam is making fun ends with Barry and Barry is getting

bullied by Dirk. Sam immediately is stepping up for Barry trying to be like leave him alone. It looks like a what you want to take his place and Sam's just like yeah, yeah, I do. Just mean mugging the bully. Love it establishing. He's a little badass. He might be short, but he's not going to take your shit ain't afraid of you. Hmm. Mr.

Wyatt is Sam's teacher. We don't really find anything out about Dean's teacher other than the fact that he use derogatory nicknames for her sugar sweet stuff we don't hear Yeah, we don't learn her name. She didn't have an impact on Dean. But the story is clearly from Sam's perspective. So that's not the important part. But Mr. Wyatt is Sam's teacher. And he does end up having quite an impact on Sam eventually. So he is important.

And he assigns the class on this first day that they are to write an essay about a memorable family experience. So Sam is, you know, creating some core memories. And Dean is making out with chicks in the janitor's closet during this little High School flashback. We got back to the present. We see Sam walking down the hallway. He's pushing a janitor's cart. And he is in a coveralls outfit. Who were at bust. Sam, or the trickster?

LA

Well, I mean, it's gonna be Sam for me. Shut

Berly

up. No.

LA

I mean, you got you got your guy. He saw you're

Berly

able to better in the coveralls though. For you? Yeah. You're a liar. Oh, I didn't even like the color on Sam.

LA

He's a tall drink of water. Like, I like it. Okay, if

Berly

you asked me to pick like the white scrubs against something else, maybe but those the coverall book really? You're gonna say Sam over the trickster. Now, I disagree.

LA

I know what I was prepared for this.

Berly

I told you. I was like, oh, coveralls we haven't seen this. So I imagine you weren't prepared for this. Alright, yeah, we are. We are we are divided on this. Okay. You can say Sam was a better janitor. I say trickster.

LA

I know. But then we're going to talk about Dean's outfit. Oh, yeah. The same thing it

Berly

Okay, well, let's let's let's work work our way there. So Sam's walking through the hall in his janitor outfit, and he pops into the gym, where Dean is undercover as the PE teacher and he is encouraging these kids to play. Dodgeball. I did see in. I can't credit who posted it. And honestly, even if I were to say who posted it where it popped up on my feed probably

wasn't the original poster. But there's a snippet from an interview where Jensen Ackles is saying that he got to have influence on some costumes, like get to pick maybe some pieces out or suggest some things. And that the gym teacher outfit was his want to show off those legs.

He was like, You're welcome. So Dean has on a red sweat band around his forehead, a white polo fitted polo tee that says Truman high and a whistle these fitted red shorts that hit like mid thigh, and then knee high tube socks with his sneakers for sneaking and whistle. And when I saw it, I was like, Where have I seen that outfit before? So I immediately pick up my phone. And I scroll through. And I found a picture of I don't know where this picture is from rain. You'll have to tell me I don't

know where it's from. I don't know where I saved it from. I don't know why it's in my phone, but I knew it was in my phone.

LA

We know why it's in your phone.

Berly

I think we do. I knew it was in there. So I immediately pulled up a picture of Richard Speight Jr. in the outfit, but he's all like laid out on his side. He's got like aviator sunglasses on. Just beard. Wide Leg wide leg. Immediately popped it up and pull it up. Shout it to La what

LA

keyword better or better I did.

Berly

I was right.

LA

Oh, okay. Good to know that you were bow legged? Who will bow legged today's last all those knees. I haven't seen those knees before. I feel like they're always in pants. Jensen looked nice. He did. But it looks like a character. It wasn't it wasn't high. Yeah. I mean, when kick him out of bed frightened. outfit, okay. It was silly, but hey, it was fitting in all the right places.

Berly

I mean, he didn't look bad. I'm just saying he didn't wear it better. Okay.

LA

All right, fair enough.

Berly

I feel like we've talked about the janitor costume and the gym teacher costume. More than we talked about the sexy episodes. It's important though, this is an important plot point. We need to iron this out. And it's very important. We're going to disagree. Yeah, it's fine. We can move on, we can move on. Anyway, Dean throws a ball at a kid's stomach and yells at them all. Like, the kid

LA

could just like casually go over that. I was like, oh. And like in close proximity just slams that ball in that kid's stomach. I was like, shocked.

Berly

away, like, choked on her. We were watching child

LA

abuse. And I liked it. Sam just stood there and watched it. No big deal. I just sounded like a donkey did a little.

Berly

So during goes over to talk to Sam, and Sam explains that he's gone throughout the school. He's not finding any signs of sulfur, not in the girls bathroom where the first incident occurred. And it's a no EMF either, right? Yeah. No EMF, nothing. Well, I think they were just looking for demons at this time. So they're just linking there for sulfur right now. Yeah. So I don't think they've gotten to the EMF yet. But they do get to it eventually. And same thing. Not too long after

this. We like cut away to a classroom. I guess like cooking class.

LA

Yeah, hello, Mac, I guess something like first I thought it was the like a lab but then with the blenders and I should have known what was coming with the blenders. Yeah, but yeah, I think it's like a home at class or something.

Berly

Yet again, we've got a bully. He's trying to tell somebody that he needs to copy their homework again. And the student who's being bullied seems totally zoned out. So clearly, it seems like something's already off here. Not really responding. And he just like is like, why? The bully is like, cut spoken need it and blah, blah, blah. I don't know. He says something a bully would say. And then he's like, Oh, if you don't give me your homework, I'm gonna punch your

face in with my fist. And the zoned out kid is like that fist. And this is after he's turned on the blender.

LA

I like he was like, Why? Why do you need me to do your homework? Because you're stupid brain dead, Dick. I was like, Oh, okay.

Berly

Again, I'm appreciative that if you're going to open the open, the episode was slit right away. Yeah, that there is at least some Venom being tossed at men later in this episode as well. Mutual. I still think they need to cool it a little bit with the slot. The horror that I mean, come on. Come on, guys. We're like what, barely halfway through season four. I mean, come on. It's been a lot. It's a lot. I mean, chill out, turn it down. Back there to like, 2009 when I was

LA

like, we could have done any better back then.

Berly

We probably would have been saying but yeah, other stuff. But anyway, the kid picks up the bully's hand, he's like You mean this fist and shoves it in the blender. And we get our 19th Blood splurge of the supernatural series as blood is spewed from the blender onto the bullies face and a kid onto the kid's face. Just splooge everywhere. Sam comes into the room because he's out in the hall pushing his janitor card around and hears the screaming

and people freaking out. So he comes running in just in time to see ectoplasm leaking from the zoned out kid's ear. And the kid just like falls to the floor. So now they know they're dealing with a ghost, not a demon,

LA

which hasn't been about a while since we had a ghost.

Berly

I think it's been a bit since we've

LA

had a lot of demons. Other things,

Berly

demons and witches and angels. Oh Ma, apparently ghost to possess a human. It's really rare. So that's why this wasn't something that even crossed their mind beforehand. It's way more common to come across a demon total possessing a human than a ghost. Dean goes and raids the principal's office to try and see if he can find out of any violent deaths or violent crimes or anything like that that could have potentially occurred on the school grounds. And he did find out about

suicide. And it was Barry the one friend that Sam made while he was a student here. Dean also was yet again creepy.

LA

Oh my god. Yeah. I think what he came before he was telling him about Barry He, he was like, Oh, I got some information and also three of the cheerleaders are legal Do you want to know which ones and Sam's like no. Yeah. And then he didn't like looks like disappointed like no to him.

Berly

No, it's not being creepy or like a 30 year old man at this point we were both like oh my god again another another comment about legals and jailbait and whatever yet again, this is at least the second time this has happened in season four. And we're like, barely halfway through. Yeah. Which rose Stop it go back to just being funny. Yeah. As they're talking about Barry, Dean is guessing. So, if Barry got bullied, is he possessing students and then like possessing nerds and going after

bullies? And Sam says that yeah, you know, he got he had a hard time in school. We had another flashback to dark confronting Barry and Sam as they're walking through the hall, pushing Barry down to the ground and Sam standing up for Barry and then Dirk punches, Sam, but Sam doesn't hit them back. Sam just takes it and Mr. Wyatt, Sam and Barry's teacher and darks teacher comes walking up just in time to take Dirk away take him to the principal's office or whatever. But you know, Sam, he

was the bigger man. We find out later in the episode that he could have taken Dirk at any time. He knew how to fight. He knew how to defend himself. But he wasn't doing it because he didn't want to be seen as a freak. He was tired of being like the new kid, the freak, the weirdo, that everybody avoided and he thought that that was the way to do it. Back at present time. We see Sam and Dean there at Barry's grave. Salt, lighter fuel fire matches, burning

berries, bones. When they get in the car, Dean and Sam are kind of chatting, Sam saying I just burned the bones of my friend. If we had been in that school for just a little bit longer, maybe I could have helped him. Dean says, Hey, man, like you looked at the same report I did. You saw that he was on antidepressants, anxiety pills. He was miserable. And that wasn't your fault. It was really a sweet little moment here between the two of them.

LA

I did like the windshield. They showed the windshield it was all rainy and cleared it showed each of their faces.

Berly

As the windshield wipers came up. I noticed that as well. It was cool. It was enough rain that there was a layer like blur. Super blurry. Yeah, it was a really nice shot. And then you see their beautiful faces, and the lighting reflecting off the rain. And it was it was really nice. We see in another flashback that Mr. Wyatt asked Sam to stay after class so he can talk to him about the essay assignment we mentioned earlier. And he says, you know, this wasn't supposed to be fiction,

right? Like you wrote about your family spending a summer hunting a werewolf. What's that about Sammy? And Sam just says, you know, it's fine. Whatever, fail me, I'll be gone within like a week or two anyway, doesn't matter. And the teacher says, No, I'm not going to fail you it was really well done, the characterization you gave your dad and your brother and all of that I'm giving you an A. And he actually asked Sam, you know, would you want to be a writer? Is that something you think

you'd pursue? You're really talented. Sam, let him know that. No, I haven't thought about that. I have to go into the family business. That's what I have to do. And the teacher encourages him to think about what he would maybe want to do that he doesn't have to let other people make those decisions for him. Then he can do whatever he wants to do. And you can tell that this little conversation emits so much too little Sammy was a good teacher.

And I think he even said like, I've never heard that before. You're the first person to say anything like that to me. Sam is going through this school and present today. He's actually looking to go talk to Mr. Wyatt, because he still teaches at the high school. And as he's bout to walk into the classroom, another student stops him and asks him for directions to a different room. He gives her the directions and she's like, Thanks, Sam. And then she kicks his ass. Whoa. She really does.

Yeah, she like stabbed him in the chest with it was either a pencil or a protractor. I think you're

LA

right. I think it was a protractor. Or either about her. She had a short pencil and

Berly

then something like stabs him right in the chest. So he leans over. He was like, oh, and then she kicked him in the balls. And then she like kicks him in the face. He goes flying over. And she's like, Oh, it's been forever since I've seen you. You've gotten big. We were like we know Sam had a flask full of salt.

LA

Oh, is that what it was? Yeah. Okay. I was like, Why was there salt on the ground?

Berly

Whenever he was opening the flask. I was like, what is happening is he about to fling holy water on her? And then he was like pouring it into his hand and I was like What is happening? And then it was salt. So he fills his poem with salt and then he jumps up and he shoves his hand up against the girl's face, like shoving salt into her mouth. And you see like this black smoggy humanoid figure get pushed out of the back of her and disappear. And she just collapses into his arms and he holds her

LA

What a dream.

Berly

So now they know it's clearly not bury because they salt and burned his bones already, you know, they thought case solved. We're done here. But no, like this ghost is still possessing people. And where's it coming from? Who is it? Who knows? They're looking through the files, Dean gives Sam a 40 in order to ice his balls. And Dean finally realizes that all three of the students ride the same bus to school and back every day.

LA

I like that before he told him that and he handed him the 40 how he got like, real angry that this was this happened to Sam, you commented, he was like, you were like, Oh, my God. Yeah. really upset about his brother getting kicked to the ball.

Berly

Yeah, he did not like that. He did not like that at all. In here, Sam reminds Dean about the lore in which spirits are bound to places that if they're really angry and have a lot of energy and whatnot, they can possess people. In fact, I think he said that some spirits have possessed a person and rode them wherever they wanted to for miles before they got pushed out of the vessel and sent back to wherever they were tethered to. Yeah, so maybe the spirit isn't attached to the school. Maybe

it's attached to the bus. They check out the bus and it's spiking an EMF all over the place. So they're like, Okay, this place definitely isn't clean. What is it? And Dean said, what was it?

LA

It was like, There's got to be like a flap of skin around here. Hang now piece of hair. I was like, Rose. Yeah, well, I think somebody would notice a flap of fucking skin.

Berly

They went through the glove box and they found a driver's license for the bus that had been issued just two weeks before and based off of the name, they figure out that it's actually Dirk McGregor's dad. And that was the bully at the high school, the one who was picking on Sam and Barry. I think do we get another flashback at this time? Yes. Okay, so we get another flashback at this time, where Dirk is yet again picking on Barry. And yet again, Sam

intervenes. But this time, Sam decides to stand up for himself. And there's some little names thrown around. real clever whenever Dirk was like, Oh, really? What do you do lose Chester?

LA

I didn't even catch it. You had to be like, ah, lose just Winchester and then I was like, Oh, wow, that's kind of the kind of cover

Berly

that the only reason I caught it is because there's a panel where Jared Padalecki is answering some question from a fan. I don't even remember what it was. And he was like because we're the Winchester is not the lose Chester's. And I thought he came up with that on his own. Oh, that's funny. And I thought, Oh, well, Jared is so clever. That was so funny. And now it turns out no, that was actually a line from the episode and I just didn't know about it.

LA

That's funny. It was good, though. I feel like I had to give it to not bury to dirt for that one.

Berly

So Sam kicks ducks us. Yeah. And then tells him that he's Dirk. The jerk and all the other kids were like who? Yeah, that's pretty good. And I'm like, really? Y'all are in high school and someone hasn't come up with Dirk the jerk yet. Right? You would think that he would have gotten that nickname? years ago? Oh, yeah. But maybe he was a sweetheart years ago and so people didn't think about

it then who knows? So Dirk, the jerk is getting chanted, as Sam is confidently walking away from the situation knowing he has friends when Yeah, he's defeated the bully. We got back to present day. Sam and Dean have gone to visit Dirks dad, they've told them they went to high school with him. They were his friends. And while they're talking with the dad, they find out that he got bullied as Dirk the jerk for the rest of his

time in high school. And then he got into drugs and as the dad said it and then he had too many drugs. It also turned out that Dirk was taking care of his sick mother by himself. The father said I was working three jobs at the time to cover all of our expenses and he was essentially having to watch his mother waste away. Yeah, she died when he was just 13 so that means she would have died right before we saw him in the flashbacks because if the youngest I would think high

school is 14 Yeah, yeah. That was that was a hurt sad, lonely little boy. Yeah.

LA

And he did. He does make mention like that the kids at the school called would call him poor and dirty and called him dark the jerk. So Sam instantly is like, oh fuck,

Berly

as we see Sam as, you know, being empathetic and sad and not Feeling good? You know Dean is like so what do you do with his body? And the dad says, like I had him cremated and Dean's like all of them.

LA

Like God, I liked them dad was just like answered him, I would have been like, Excuse me.

Berly

I mean, there were a couple of awkward pauses. But yeah, I mean, the dad does just go I mean, I keep a lock a hair in his in my Bible, on the school bus. There we go. And so, I mean, I guess after that they were just like, thank you and got up and walked out because we didn't see how this conversation really wrapped up here.

LA

I imagine it was probably awkward, right? It was pretty awkward.

Berly

I imagine that the dad was also happy for them to go after Dean suddenly started asking about the body and yeah, he wasn't the smoothest not yet seen. We cut to the school bus being driven by somebody who's subbing apparently because they thank him for stepping up for stepping in. It's the middle of nowhere middle of the night. It's like the football team or

something. There's wishlist Jordan Peele is the coach. And then we've got bus driver breaking bad driving, and bus driver Breaking Bad starts having ectoplasm leak out of his nose as he's like, here. Welcome. No problem. They're driving and driving driving wish list. Jordan Peele is like, hey, like, ease up off the gas, man. We are needing to get there that fast. You need to chill out bus driver Breaking Bad. It's just like new and start speeding up

even faster. And then they drive over what is it that they throw out to pop out your time's

LA

up the name when I was writing my notes, and I couldn't make it

Berly

either the thing that they'll throw out on it's like the spiky things and it's meant to Buster tires to slow down cars, whatever that is. I don't know what the name is. That's out in the middle of the road because Sam and Dean found out that the bus was going somewhere for a tournament or whatever. And knew the exact route in the middle of nowhere that this Breaking Bad bus driver was going to take. So the tires get blown out the bus comes to a

complete stop. They get into a tussle with Breaking Bad bus driver and he is kicking Sam's us. Oh wait, no first Breaking Bad bus driver comes out and they tie him up with rope. And they're like, oh, good luck getting out of that, that ropes been soaked in saltwater. And then dean goes on to the bus and tells everyone Oh your bus drivers a drug dealer which I was just like, What the hell

LA

not necessarily. This poor guy.

Berly

You don't know anything. You're just what's the word libel is like whatever is happening. So Dean is searching through the glove compartment trying to get to the Bible flipping through it looking for the hair. It's not there. All of a sudden Breaking Bad bus driver busts out of the ropes so I guess that it wasn't soaked that well in saltwater. There must have been some dry patches or something. Because it didn't

hold him for very long. He's attacking Sam Dean comes out shoots bus driver with rocksalt gets then we see one of the big football guys on the bus. His nose starts leaking. ectoplasm and he's the one who really kicks Sam's ass like he like knocks Sam on the ground, straddling his hips and just punching his face like crazy. Dean goes over rolls the bus driver over and it's like it's not what it looks like. I promise. What did that mean?

What did were you wanting to assure him that hey, I know that I just shot you but I I'm not robbing you. Yeah, I want to make sure you don't think I'm robbing you after I just shot the chest news

LA

taking his clothes off of him.

Berly

I was like what is happening? And he like takes off his shoe and so Breaking Bad bus driver had the lock of hair in his shoe. These are happening very quickly and so deep, catches the hair on fire and it fizzles out and it was a really cool shot that as the football kid is still struggling Sammy he like looks up and the ghosts like comes out of him and like fizzles into flames and embers yeah fizzles into embers in the sky. As the hair is burning up

where Dean caught it on fire. I enjoyed that shot too.

LA

And then he made the same joke as dean.

Berly

So then the athlete kid falls forward on to Sam and I said so we started the episode with reverse Cal girl and we ended the episode with regular Cal girl. And then Sam said What are not Sam Dean's What did he say? I know he said something about cowgirl.

LA

He's given you the full Calgary Yeah.

Berly

And then I got really sad because after the whole legal and all this other stuff. I was like oh no, I have the same sense of humor as a creep.

LA

Maybe we've just been watching it too long now.

Berly

I don't know. I feel like my humor was the same. Before we started the show.

LA

It was trying to save you Uh, oh. Oh,

Berly

we see Sam go back to the high school and he finally talks to Dr. Wyatt and just thanks him and let him know that it meant a lot to have that conversation even though he did end up going in the family business anyways. And I noticed earlier in the episode that Jared pedelec, he had a little bit of a pimple coming up near the bottom right

corner of his mouth. And they just so happened in the makeup department to decide that this area is what was going to be all messed up from him having been punched in the face so many times. He's really

LA

asked him to do that. He's like, Yeah, just go ahead and cover this up.

Berly

I would have done it too. Oh, yeah. So we had this sweet little, you know, Sammy got to say his Thank you. And I think that that was something he really wanted to do. Yeah. We have another flashback where Sam and Dean are having very experienced different experiences in the high school. On their last day of school. Dean got caught making out with a different girl from the one he had been making out with all episode a brunette this time, not the one I wanted to change.

But the blonde catches them in the closet. And she tells the Dean essentially, I'm not mad at you. I feel sorry for you. I feel good for her. Yeah, kinda like she didn't tear up. She didn't. I mean, she just was like, Yeah, I thought that maybe there was another layer to you. But there's not. You're just a sad little lonely boy, and I'm not interested anymore. Yeah. And she was sorry for him. He really didn't like that. And he was like telling everybody, I'm a hero. I see why I'm a hero.

And in the meantime, we cut to Sam, who everybody is looking at like he's a hero. Because he defeated the bully. Yeah, they're congratulating him. Way to go stay home. Yeah, great job. And Dean's walking through the hallway. And people are just looking at him like to feel sorry for me. Yeah. Then Dean gets a call on his cell phone. And it's dad, essentially saying I'm here. Let's go. Yeah. So that's it. They had to leave the school. Sam didn't really get closure. He didn't get to say

goodbye to anybody. And all of that

LA

ended with like, Mr. Wyatt, asking if Sam was happy.

Berly

Oh, yeah. He did ask Sam that if he was happy before he left. And Sam just didn't answer. I don't think he just didn't answer.

LA

He did tell him. I don't know if you said but he's told him that he did go to college for a while and like that he was attributed to him. Yeah.

Berly

If it wasn't for Dr. Or for Mr. Wyatt, he wouldn't have done that. But unfortunately, I think we all know the answer to that question. Yeah. This was written by Andrew dabb and Daniel Laughlin. It was the only episode and supernatural directed by Adam Kane. This episode is dedicated to the memory of Christopher F. Lima, who was a rigging electrician. And Tim lock, or is that look, L O. O CK? Lock? I think it's locked. Who was an online editor?

LA

Too long. Jeez.

Berly

Yeah. And I tried to Google what happened to them and I couldn't find anything. So I'm guessing it was separate issues and just happened to occur around the same time. So Gore, obviously the hand. Yeah, and the blender was the glorious thing. This episode. The ectoplasm seeping out of the eye made me cringe. But I wouldn't say that was gory. Yeah. Anything you would toward this episode?

LA

I did like seeing the younger versions, like in their semi high school days. Because I mean, we know they weren't in school very much. Right. So it was kind of nice to see that. But then I also enjoyed Dean and his PE teacher uniform.

Berly

Okay. Okay. Okay. I enjoyed the return of costumes other than suit. Yeah. Even though I don't think they were a better it was still a pleasant sight to see. Okay. I did enjoy Sam in the all white scrubs. That's always a pleasant sight to see. Yes, I agree. And I liked the further character development getting that little bit of history hearing a little bit about why Sam ventured off

on his own path. You know, it was this the beginning of him starting to think and question rebel against having to go into the family business, kind of seeing the seeds of that being planted, how that happened. How sad he was in school, you know, not having a normal life and all that. I enjoyed that as well. Getting a little bit of background. Yeah, I don't think this would be one of my favorite episodes, but it was fun. And it it did give us a little some much needed background on on the

guys. Yeah. What about the lore?

LA

Well, we're going to talk about the top 100 schools in the US and one abroad.

Berly

Oh, Just one, just one.

LA

So there isn't a state in the US that doesn't have stories about ghost sightings and creepy sounds and local schools. Some sound as uncomfortable as fingernails on a chalkboard squeak of a marker that has dried up. From east to west north south. We this article has found some of the creepiest and weirdest tales in the nation, including one that led them to a school event all the way over in

Melbourne, Australia. And it was so notorious world over that about 50 years ago, National Geographic reported it and so they decided to share it in this article as well. So for the West, we have Anchorage, Alaska at night mute High School, and it says even the name of the school gives us the heebie jeebies. The story here is that a grave was discovered

underneath room 106. And ever since then, a little girl is said to haunt the school's bathrooms and she is known to flush toilets and flicker the lights on and off at Myrtle. I know this, it says Does this sound familiar? JK Rowling Moaning Myrtle from Harry Potter and it said, Well, this ghost is a little different because she's not confined to the bathroom. She's also heard wandering throughout the school humming

little tunes. And when no one is in the gym, she'll take the opportunity to shoot some balls, basketballs, some hoops.

Berly

It's good to stay active.

LA

Yeah, she's gonna Yeah, it's gonna keep busy. So in the south in El Paso, Texas at El Paso High School. They have a reputation for all kinds of Port paranormal activity. Sometimes people find hallways filled with missed unexplained goo drips from the ceilings. And there was even the discovery of hidden classrooms beneath the building. Maybe one of those classrooms is where one unidentified girl studied, because she wasn't seen until she showed up in the graduating class of 1985.

yearbook photo. Everyone in the photo claims that the girl is white. Because you know, ghosts always wear white was not actually present when the picture was shot. Some say that when it was when they were at the photo shoot that shoot they at the photo shoot. They had sweaty palms, and to this day, no one can identify her. She does not appear in the photo negative either. And the picture was taken a couple years before Photoshop was even developed.

Berly

Do you say this was a high school? Yes, they had sweaty everything true. I don't think the sweaty palms would have been.

LA

I thought it was kind of odd that they mentioned that I probably should have just cut it out. So the class photo is still resides in a trophy case at the school. And in the meantime, there are many more unknown entities who are big fans of El Paso High School. Some alumni in fact, please say they've seen hundreds of ghosts hold pep rallies in the middle of the night there. Oh, and they say they've also heard basketball games in the auditorium. But when they open the doors, no one

is in there. Interesting. So they're they're already in in their good times, good school, school spirit. And the Midwest there is Florissant or Florissant, Missouri and Parker Rhodes Elementary. The moral of the story is to never leave anyone behind because if you do, that's where they might stay. And that's a lesson learned at the school which was built on an

old cemetery ground. Why? Why? As a matter of fact, in the 1950s, Missouri ordered Leif brown cemetery to dig up all the bodies in the cemetery and move them to another area prior to the construction of the neighborhood and the school there. But it's rumored that they left one body behind and you guessed it. It's the ghost of the dead body that haunts Parker road school. Of course. Yeah. And this ghost only likes the kids there. The teachers and other faculty haven't seen it.

But the students have seen the ghost in the bathrooms and have identified her as a woman in a black dress with long wavy blond hair and no eyes. Oh. And then we have the North East Marblehead, as known as hell mouth Massachusetts, which will lead us to the Middle School in West Hall High School in Melbourne, Australia. The first school is in a town that was originally called HAL mouth in colonial days, which stands for a property we're representing

the entrance of a hill. And they don't say they said they're guessing that the town's officials changed the name when they realized hell mouth wasn't doing anything good for their tourism numbers. Good change.

Berly

They should have kept it. Buffy the Vampire Slayer the series, they would have seen tourism blow up right everybody would have been like hell Well, yeah, let's go

LA

to bed. The original name might have had something to do with the belief that the town is built over a portal for psychic energy drawing things into the town. Um, such as a UFO hovering over the school in 1966. The town paper reported the sighting but they the people who wrote this, forget her name. Linda T. Kennedy could not find the article. So she went looking for it and it led her to the story about the largest mass witnessing of UFO history in Australia that ever happened.

Around 11 o'clock AM on Wednesday, the sixth April 1966, a class of students and a teacher from West Hall High School in Melbourne, or outside when they saw a gray saucer shaped craft hovering over them. Fortunately, the craft took off to descend in a nearby field rather than whisking the children teacher away like we see in the movies, but they did

live to tell about the day. And you'll post I know you'll post this article there's a link to the National Geographic website where they kids recount well not the kids, the people the kids and the teachers that were there talking about it. Interesting haunted schools. My house and aliens ride out random

Berly

What were you gonna say? Your what?

LA

We don't need in on that. Nevermind. Okay.

Berly

Well then to close it out. We've got a quote from Dean when he was wearing your favorite outfit LA. Oh, is that sounded sorry about that. He said, today you will have the honor of playing one of the greatest games ever. evented a game of skill. Agility, cutting a game with one simple rule. Dodge he did

LA

an old kid.

Berly

Thank you for listening to denim wrapped nightmares.
