Episode description

Rock Journalist and comedian Tim Powers is joined by the leader of a band considered to be the godfather of Punk, which is quite a feat considering their formation pre-dates Beatlemania.  Larry Tamblyn started the Standells in Southern California and, after a lot of trial and error, broke the charts with the legendary single “Dirty Water.”Two more top 40 hits followed, “Sometimes Good Guys Don’t Wear White,” and “Why Pick on Me.”For over 50 years, this band has kept its grungy, Punky sound going and delighting fans all over the world.  I saw them play in 2009 and they rocked as good as ever.  Now, after 2 CD’s relased in the 21st Century, The Standells are gearing up for a huge world tour.
