Today, we'll take the time to discuss medical cannabis, and the implications for patients on prescription cannabis therapy when they present for an anaesthetic. 

We start with a brief chat about the differences between medical cannabis and recreational cannabis, the mechanism of action of the two main cannabinoids - THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) and CBD (cannabidiol), their pharmacokinetics and finally some suggestions for how to approach the anaesthetic care of these patients.
