In this episode of the podcast Will speaks to Nandini Das, a Fellow of Exeter College, Oxford and a Professor of Early Modern Literature and Culture at Oxford, to discuss her recently published book Courting India: England, Mughal India and the Origins of Empire. They discuss how the book came to be written, how England was seen at the Mughal Court, the differences in religious tolerance between the Mughal Court and that of James I, how the first English ambassador Thomas Roe came to bond with the Mughal Emperor Jahangir over alcohol and the lasting legacy of Roe's time in India.
