I'm affording an email to Dave to kick off this podcast because with someone asking about clipp adous and I don't know the answer to it, so afforded that let's go into Sorry. There are a bunch of monster in law emails, and I'm going to forward you more of Jenny. Okay, here we go. Drake is not in here, but I'll read this message says regarding Drake's family member who makes homophobic comments. It is especially hurtful when those close to
us you feel should provide the support and understanding. I don't get it. My son is autistic, yet my parents continue to say extremely offensive things. For example, I have a cousin who was worried her son was autistic. My dad said, your kid doesn't have anything wrong with him. He isn't like Charlie, doesn't act like him. Not my son's real name. By the way, I felt like puking and ripping my dad to shreds at the same time when he said this. My dad saw nothing wrong with this statement.
If anyone would be supportive and understanding, you would imagine a child's grandparents would be. For clarification, I didn't form my dad there is nothing wrong with my son either, and being autistic isn't a negative. I know Dave hates this phrase, but it applies educate yourself. My dad will talk at my child rather than to him, or refuse to interact altogether because he is nonverbal. My mom applies every stereotype about autism to my child. This is
despite me educating my parents that no autistic person is alike. Just because my son communicates and interacts differently doesn't mean he doesn't understand. Easier said than done. But f those who can't be supportive and is total bs When they say I didn't mean to be offensive, you have a discussion on why it was offensive, and they continue to be You stand your ground, You stick up for what is true and right in your heart. Don't let others dictate your
happiness. Thanks Joe, and I am so sorry you deal with that because you're right. You would think, I mean so many Let's be honest. I don't know that your parents are crappy parents to you, you know what I mean, But so many people have parents that that's their job. Like they're supposed to be your support system. They're supposed to be there to encourage you. And so many of us have parents and aren't like that, and I think it's even more devastating to see them be like that to your kid
than it is even to you like it is another level of devastation. So I am so sorry you deal with that. Here we go. First off, I want to say start off by saying how much I enjoy your show. I listen every morning, catch up on the podcast, and hours after the show I missed in the afternoons, evenings or weekends. You could say your show is my comfort show because I always have it on. When I was in labor, I had your podcast on the whole time. It helped
me keep calm and comfortable. So thank you. Wow, You're welcome. Thanks. A question I have for you, and something I've always wondered about, is what are the quote unquote shifts or hours like for you all in the Morning show and other DJs. I know you're all here in the mornings Monday through Friday, So what time do you get in before the show? How late do you stay after? Then on weekends i'll hear Drake or Jenny or Rich on the radio. Is this an extra shift on top of the
week Is it prerecorded? It's definitely not quote put in your forty hours type of job, because I feel like you're always working. Thank you for sharing or starting my days off right and keeping me company. I truly appreciate all you do, You're honesty and how much you share with your listeners, even though it can be hard because some people are just mean. Love you guys, P one, Katie. All right, let's start with the first question,
Katie asking about shifts. Yes, Like our designated shift is when you hear us on air, So for us it's five thirty to ten. Then Zach is one to six, and then it was E White. But now they're going to get a new night host because if you didn't hear E White is moving on. He already did. He started yesterday at Salt Lake City doing a morning show that is six to midnight. So those are our shifts, like the kind of set stable ones, weekends rotate. I think Jenny
and Drake rotate weekends. I think Zach does a shift on the weekends, and like you know, he doesn't, okay. I think he used to maybe at something did, but not anymore. Okay. And then Rich, like you said, does do a weekend on the shifts, And I believe Naima. She's actually the City's ninety seven morning show co host, but she does a weekend shift also. Yep. So everyone has kind of different things.
So Zach, for instance, is also our music director and I believe APD assistant program director, which means he has kind of hour like office hours too. Yep. So I don't know what Zach's hours are. Hilson emails at like midnight, you know, Yeah, but I think when he's technically in office, it can be anywhere from like eleven am to like seven pm, or it could be literally twelve forty five right before his show starts and
then like late until later. But he's working like randomly throughout, like from home and stuff and emailing and whatever. I would say, absolutely Zach works more than forty hours a week. For Jenny, Drake, Dave, and I. We all get in at different times very close thought. I get in like twenty minutes before the show starts. Jenny gets in fifteen minutes before the show starts. Honestly, Dave and Drake probably get here two or three
minutes before the show starts. Yeah, five minutes for the show starts, depending on if Cariboo got Dave's cough the order right, yeah, or if they like made brewed the coffee some days Dave a walk in and they hadn't even brewed the coffee yet, or if Drake gets stuck in his parking garage. Yep, those are things. And then realistically Monday through Wednesday we stay later, especially Monday, we're probably here till now. I say weird because
again this differs. Jenny and Drake do so many behind the scenes things, so they're usually here later than Dave, like pretty much always later than me and Dave. So we Dave and I on like a Monday, probably leave between twelve fish around twelve is twelve thirty. Jenny, you're probably out by one Tuesday, the same we were cord Rows as it's longer Wednesday, a little bit longer Thursday. At that point the week is kind of wrapping up. We can get out by like eleven. Yeah, Friday, we're all
out if we can be. If Jenny doesn't have if Jenny or Drake doesn't have their weekend shift, we're out by like ten aye. Yeah, and then I'll let you speak on your weekend shift things. Yeah, So I do the weekend shift every other week, so it's not every week that I'm
in for that, but I do have to do that as well. So I'm on on Sundays and then when I'm not on, Drakes on and that's noon to five, So we both do those shifts, and then I mean we also work Sundays, like as a show from home that we're online. It's very if you put on to paper our hours, I bet just some weeks like yeah, we're at four DA hours. Some weeks we could be at like fifty. Like actually, if we have events during it, it's so all over the place of what we do. We all check in at
night as well. I do, like probably a little bit more work at night than everyone else does because I have to finalize a lot of Like we have physical things we print out every single day, and I'm the one who's in charge of putting all that stuff together. So I'm always finalizing as much as I can the night before so I don't have to do it in the morning. So I'm usually like working. I mean some nights it's fifteen minutes.
Some nights I can work for like an hour and a half at home, Like it really just depends randomly, So I mean, yeah, and I don't really know how many as a week we each actually work. I don't think any of us want to calculate it on Yeah, I think it would make us sad. Maybe yeah, Okay, next one. I don't know all the details on this, so I don't have a ton of info to help this girl out. But she said, I've never done anything like
this before, period. But I'm going to be in a competition for Inked Originals magazine, and I really need help to get my name and voting link out there. Any chance y'all would help me out. I listen to KATIWB every day. I want tickets to concerts, et cetera. If I win this competition, I could pay off all my debt, and my dream of having my tattoos and a magazine would come true. Love this radio family so much so. She didn't send any other information, So I feel like no
one's going to go goog. I feel bad. But her name's Tiffany. She's or sh ea, scr Tiffany. I feel bad because I don't feel like anyone's going to go Google on their own time. Probably, but maybe you all have a You're sitting at your desk right now, on your board yea Originals magazine competition and if you can vote for Tiffany, She's than do it and Tiffany good luck. If you could pay off all your dad, that's life changing. And then also thanks for listening to us. Next one,
guys, I need to know if I'm crazy or not. Here. We live in a two story home. Some of the rooms are three stories up thanks to our walkout basement on part of the house. Our windows are huge, they go almost to the floor. Upstairs is our three bedrooms, where me, my husband, and our three young kids sleep. They're five, three, three, so you must have twins. I want to get bars that go over the windows and the kid's rooms so that we can keep
their windows open at night. I'm scared they're going to sleep walk and fall out of the windows, and in some spots three stories down. My husband says that since forever, parents have left their kids windows open, and it's fine, especially in this house because it's one hundred and fifty years old, so kids have slept upstairs for a long time. Basically, I'm still going to order them. I don't care if he thinks I'm nuts. I just
want to know. My husband want to know if my husband is right or wrong, thank you, And she did add this, the windows have a pool switch that you can take off in case of fire. We have ladders upstairs thanks to the previous owner who was paranoid about fires. I would first ask, she says, the windows have pool switch that you can take off in case of fire. Is that something your kids can take off? Yeah? I would ask that first, just because I don't know that all of
it three would know how to do that. Yeah. I don't think you're nuts, though, I think i'd be super paranoid about it. I mean, we have the bookshelf in our bedroom. I kept telling Jake, can you please anchor that to the wall, because every day you see a horrible story where a kid pulls a dresser or a bookshelf on top of them. And he did finally anchor it to the wall because I was like, dude, like, come on, yep, because it's a very heavy wood.
So yeah, if I was three stories up, I don't think you're crazy. I agree your husband's right. Obviously kids have slept there for years, and clearly, if you don't see a news article, none of them have fallen out of the window. But how it doesn't hurt, And how long are you gonna do it? I mean, if they're five, three and three, you're gonna stop in a two or three years anyway, probably, Yeah, I don't. I don't have experience as much with stuff like this.
I mean, obviously it's just like safety purposes. But I don't think she's crazy, Like, yeah, I learned things all the time. Like someone messaged me yesterday because I just whistled someone. They messaged me saying because I said, I gate check my car seat, and they said, you need to be really careful about that because they can f up your car seat
when they're throwing it in and you don't know it. And then this is there are news articles where then you get an accident and it doesn't work properly. I'm like, great new new thing unlocked in my mind. So and they were like they should actually be sitting in a car seat on the plane, which realistically, I'm not going to say. I'm not going to set the car seat on the plane. And I ever see that some people have done, and I've seen I've seen booster seats for sure, but I don't
think I'm gonna do that. So I don't know what the plan, what my plan is now I'm in my head. If you do a rental car, you can usually rent a car seat also, maybe we'll do that. I don't know, but there was something else. I mean, there are so many things that are crazy things that have happened with kids that they obviously let people know. Okay, So I think that that's all I have for the Minnesota goodbye today as far as emails go, but please email us Ryan
Show at KDWB dot com, and we really appreciate them. I hope you know that. Like I mean, that's Dave says it all the time. That's kind of what we do on this podcast. So we really appreciate you taking time out of your day to send that to us. Hope you have a great day.
