On the count of three. All right, one, two, three, ah right, stupid. I don't know if that's a good idea or not, but welcome to the Minnesota Goodbye. I got a couple of takeaways from the Minnesota Goodbye this week. One was people like it longer and people want War of the Roses shorter. So it's interesting how it's like I want a little bit less of that, a little bit more of this. So thanks
for being here the Minnesota Goodbye. Let's get started with some emails. We are a little short on emails, but I found some really cool content of things to do in Minnesota this summer, and we'll get to that in a second. I also have things to do in Minnesota this weekend. Now, yesterday we were reading an email from Courtney when I got the wrap it up signal, so we had to stop now. She was the one who said, Bailey, I follow you on Instagram and I read your updated bio.
It made me a little sad that you called yourself the homely one. I get allowed. I get we're allowed to make fun of ourselves, and everybody is offended by everything these days. But it's worth telling you that your beautiful and I'm so happy you're part of the show. You've always usually obviously been a huge fan of forever. So you changed your bio. I did because I was pure pressure too, so I changed it. But I get that I people don't like when others are self deprecating. I have been broken up
with by two different men for being self deprecating. Seriously. Yeah, they're like, you're too self deprecating. Also, you interrupt me too much. Yeah, sound like my wife. Yeah. I did mention yesterday in a non harassment sort of way that I think you're hot because I just you have a really unique look that is very not your I don't know your conventionally not conventionally, you don't look conventional. But I think you're hot. I think
you have a beautiful face. That's nice. I think, Jenny, in case you feel left out and you're looking for praise from me, not hot, thank you. No, No, you're both. Everybody show is actually hot. I think everybody on the show is pretty attractive. And I think that, you know, we make fun of vont for being ugly. Vought is not. He's actually a pretty good looking guy. But I think that's why we get away with calling him ugly because he knows that he's not ugly.
So the only ugly one on the show is this guy right here. Oh boy. So she goes on to say, with more content, she says, third is the trend in music right now? Whiney bitches. Wow. All of the songs played during the Morning show are Teddy Swim's Whiney Bitch, Noah Khan Whinier Bitch, Benson Boone the Whiniest Bitch. The other songs that get sprinkled on are the sprinkled In or the whiniest Taylor Swift song ever made, or the inaudible song Espresso, in which espresso is the only word
I can make out. So is whining the trend? Aside from country anyway? The morning show can play a few different songs like the afternoon or night show. How is the music decided? I know Rich and Zach, but how do they decide? I don't know how they decide? I really don't. I mean, there's like studies done of like what are the topless and two songs in our area? Because it'll vary. I go back home to
Wisconsin. In the top forty stations in Wisconsin play like some of the similar stuff, but they play different stuff than us, so there is research done on it, usually a big state. This is what I know is that smaller market radio stations they usually play newer music and that's where it kind of gets tried out. And it does well in fond de Lac, or it does well in I don't know, eau Claire. Then it might do well in a bigger city. But on a station like KATWB, we play it
is a ton of research. They do research nationwide locally and they'd be like, Okay, when we play this song for people, they like it. That's why fast Car was played for so long, because somebody would test it and people would say, yeah, I still like it so and people still do like it, but they don't want to hear it anymore. My bus example was the song Hotel California by the Eagles. That song, that's the
thing. Everybody likes that song, but you've heard it so much you don't care if you ever hear it again, right, And that was something that I learned when I was like twenty one years old. It was like, Okay, everybody loves Hotel California, nobody wants to hear it anymore because they've heard it so many times. As far as whiny bitches, I don't know. I think Noah kN song is the one that I know stick season. I'll drink alcohol till my frint that one. I like that song. Are
his songs whiny, Jenny, No, I think they're very storytelling. I guess I'm questioning and she's saying whiny in the way that they sing, or whiney in the lyrics, because that's what I'm not sure about. I would never say that Sabrina Carpenter's Espresso is whiny, but I'm thinking more so of the lyrics of it. No, I think she says those three guys are whiny, and then if not whiny, then something like Sabrina Carpenter where she can't understand any of the words except oh okay, I'll put that in the
whiny too. Yeah. But I guess I feel like so Teddy swim Spens and Boone and Noah Khan, those three songs all kind of sound the same to me. I would say, Benson, Boone and Noah Khan. Yes, I wish the Ben Boone song that one these beautiful things that I got, Yeah, thanks Bailey. Next one is the New Night girl in Minnesota. It seems like she is syndicated. Yeah, she is syndicated. She is not live here in Minnesota. So but I heard her the other night.
She does great. Yeah, I don't honestly, off the top of my head, I don't know her name. What's her name, Jennyayla and she lives out in LA right now? Okay, yeah, super cool. Fifth is about Drake, And we're not going to answer that one because it is not It doesn't paint Drake in a great light. And I'm not here to insult Drake. You know, I got no ax to grind with anybody who's not on the show anymore. Well, there's a couple of people who
I'm glad are not on the show anymore. But we talk about but another day someday when like, like, I don't know, if I could tell the truth about some of the people who have been on the show, I would love to, but a lot of them are still in the industry and I'm just not going to insult them or get sued. So turn like eighty five and then you just stop giving a shit. Well yeah, and I
guess so. Or Also, I've heard that if somebody dies, then you can talk anything because you cannot hurt the character of a dead person because it doesn't. So for example, if like I don't know, if I were to die, sure, and you wanted to go on the radio and say, yeah, he was a tyrant and a jerk, and he always smelled like bo and he stole money out of my purse when I wasn't looking. You could do that because you can hurt my character, but it doesn't hurt
my life because I am dead. Yeah, but what about your family members? I think that's when discretion comes in, you know what I mean. So it's like, well, I don't want to really hurt Alison or Carson, so I'm not going to say what a jerk their dad was. So Carson, your dad sucks, I know. Last line from this email from Courtney, thank you. She says, thank you for making my day extra lickable, darting in and out of that ass. Now, okay, thank you. That's just funny. You are a funny one, Courtney, and
I want you to write more often as a staff writer. Now, let's see if I can find some other ones we did. I think we did a lot of these, So I think what I'm going to get to in a second is things to do in Minnesota this Summer. But I want to make sure I'm not missing anything. Okay, well, let's dive into this one. Okay, when I thought, no, I'm sorry, I'm gonna skip this one because it is basically asking for shine Down tickets and they're very
personable, but there's really no content for the morning show. So let's delete that one and move on to things to do in Minnesota this Summer. This is from the current issue of Minneapolis Saint Paul Best of Summer. Wow, if you're you know, walking through Bayerley's or cub and you see it, it's a yellow cover and it's got a bunch of things. So let's go through a few of these and see what we want to do. Okay. For example, let's do Jones in the Park. Anybody ever heard of Jones
in the Park now? Okay, it is known to many loyal fans as a date night win small restaurant on Snelling nearly doubles in size during the summer when the patio opens. You never heard of that one. Let's try another one, Stanley's Northeast. Anybody, Yeah, of course, Okay, that's
if your best friend is a city dog without a yard. You might want to follow up a day in the park with an evening on Stanley's patio craft beer and scratch made tavern food, and your four legged bestie has their own menu and complimentary mats to lay on and doggy dishes with fresh water all night long. Wow. I mean it's your pretty basic bar in Northeast, is it? Yeah? Okay? See PD Pappies? Anybody heard of PD Pappies? Yes? What is PD Pappies? Anybody you know? Also a bar?
Right? Yeah, seasonal bar built on good life, music and strong drinks. If you go early, you get a good burger in a quiet patio. Later you got to make room for the dancing fools. You need to cool off. That's in stillwater apparently. Oh okay. I was like, why do I know that? But I don't think I've been there. Next one is Twilight Treats and Sweets, So I'll give you a couple of these. Has anybody heard of honey and makis? Yes, Jenny, I'm it is ice cream? Yeah? Have you heard of honey and makis?
What are you giggling about? I'm just about Has anyone heard of this? Has anyone heard of this. It's kind of like, is this your card? Is this your car? Your card? Clubs? It is a it's inside of Plymouth Strip Mall, but it gets good reviews. This one is Licks Unlimited. Have you guys heard of Licks Unlimited? Is this your card? Is this your card? I've heard of it because of you, Okay. Licks Unlimited is on Water Street in downtown Excelsior. Yah. Yeah,
And they close during the winter, but it's open during the summer. There's always a line out the door. And you see so many people walking down Water Street in excels here with an ice cream coat in their hand. And I've been there many times. It's delightful. This says end your Lake Minuetaka day with the way families have been for forty years with a scoop or two at this Water Street favorite. The next gen is running the shop now,
introducing eco friendly compostable cups and a few new flavors. For example, there's one called the Bourbon Spiked Exhausted Parent. But it's really cool. It's just an old school there's maybe two tables in there. You get your ice cream, you wait in line, and then you leave. All right, Next one bask in the afterglow. Let's try this one. Saint Anthony Maine,
the best urban sunset in the Twin Cities. Find that it's Saint Anthony Maine as the sun dips behind the skyscrapers on the west side of the river, and have a taco or margarita at Hefe Urban Cochina. Anybody know anything about this? Yeah, Hefe is great. I don't know what the vibe is over there right now, with the Stone Arch being under construction, it's probably
not as hoppen. Yeah, because, as I say, it is gorgeous watching the Stone Arch and the sun coming down with the lance or the skyscrapers the side of the river is like the most beautiful place to stand if you want to get like a good eye full of Minneapolis. Yeah, I believe that. Okay, I haven't been in St. Anthony, Maine in a long time. I'm a love it. I know what they used to make movies here. There's steps. There are famous steps over on St. Anthony,
Maine that climb from the river level up to the street level. And there was a scene from a Christian Slater movie where he climbs those stairs, and so I don't remember what. Maybe Untamed Heart where he gets a transplant of a monkey heart. Oh you guys know this movie? Oh no, not at all. I never mind. Let's try this one. Here's these are things to do in Minnesota this summer. Peer five hundred. It's right on the water in Hudson, on the e side of the Saint Croix.
It offers majestic pine edge, very northern feelings, sunset fus. Get a patio table, a slab of prime rib, a glass of Cabernet sauvignon, and call yourself the winner of the day. It's nice. I wouldn't mind a prime rib in a Cabernet sauvignon. Now, see, you strike me as the kind of person who turns their nose up at meat, but you actually love meat. I do like meat. I mean I'm not gonna like seek it out. But if there's a steak on a menu and someone else
is buying, yeah, I'll take it. Okay, good, Let's do some other one. Saint Paul Brewing. You guys know about Saint Paul Brewing. Have you been, Dave? No? Oh, it's awesome. It is a cool brewery. Awesome. There's it's just like they've got this beautiful little courtyard area that's just got plants, and it's all brick, and it looks cool and old, and there's bikes and swings. Here's a description. Everything about this place feels like a magical discovery. So consider how a sunset
painted sky would boost that. Tucked within the historic Hams Brewery, the patio stretches behind sp B Saint Paul ruin, in the rooms of ruins of brick walls, curated garden art creates sculptural moments that aid and securing secret knooks to meet. It's the drinker's brigadoon for summers. So nice. His parents love going there. Andrew's parents love going there. They live in Saint Paul, so they've been asking us to gother to get us sun Here's one brew house,
brew Labs. That's a great place too. Okay, you guys know so much more than I do. Is it brew House or Bajaus? Oh? Bowhouse? Yes, thank you, Jenny. Bahaus is the best bowhouse, it says. Brewery patio hopping in Northeast is a right of summer. Having a beer on a local craft brewery patio is a great way to make new friends, especially if you all agree to sally forth to the next one. Okay, they have good eats. Blah blah blah. Next one shrom
Vineyards. It is a vineyard and a brewery. I've been there a couple of times. It's in Waconia or just south, kind of hidden in a field in Waconia and WLACONI have like a cute little downtown as well. Or no. My thinking is it's cute. I'm not gonna say I love downtown Waconia, but it's good. There's a couple of little places. It's I think it wants to be like a downtown excelsior, and it just comes up a little bit short. Now if I'm wrong, maybe I haven't been downtown
Waconia for a while. They do have a great brewery and some great little local bars in downtown Waconia. But Shroms is a great little place with you know, it's kind of a place where you go and you take a deck of cards or scrabble game and you sit and you have wine or beer. It's definitely very busy on weekends though, if you're going on like a nice summer weekend, Okay, let's do some other ones and the things that you can do during the summer paddle border, kayak on a local lake or river.
Rentals make it easy. They do canoes and kayaks on lake minno washed, and I go, is it minwashed it? Yeah? Yeah? And you go and you're like fifteen dollars for a kayak or a canoe and that's a lot of fun that way. You don't have to transport it back and forth on you your car or store it in your garage. Friend and I are renting out a pontoon in a couple of weeks for one of my friend's birthdays. And we did it last year too, and it's really fun.
I can't believe they trust people to just like, hey, you want to rent this pontoon, great, drive it out and then drive it back in. That's what I'm curious about too, because you don't have to have a boat license or anything in particular license. I think, no idea how to drive a boat. Yeah, And I don't know how to drive a boat no, And and I could go rent one if I wanted, totally intuitive. The only thing about driving a boat that's a little tricky is if it's
windy and you're trying to park it. Yeah, because I used to have a boat and a couple of times we went to Fledgers or Maynards, and if it's windy and wavy, it's really hard to get your boat into a little slip. So you throw the rope to the doc boy or the dock girl and they kind of pull it in for you. But yeah, driving a boat is really no harder than driving like a go kart down at Mall of America. Give you another one. Things to do this summer. Spend
a day at Valley Fair riding roller coasters. That's a big one. Skip a work day and go to at least one Twins game. Spend the whole day at the Minnesota Zoo see the animals, eat lunch, wander along the New Tree Tree Top trail, and get ice cream out at Scooped. Hit the rooftop at BRIT's Pub for a beer and some lawn bowling. And by the way, shout out to whoever wrote this. I'm not gonna give not give them credit. Best of Summer in Minneapolis, St. Paul and I
don't have the writer's name, but I'm gonna go ahead and try. Peter Diamond shout out Peter Diamond. I think he might have done some of the research on this one. Another one sneak an evening treat at Badema Cosca Pavilion and enjoy a walk in sunset view. Yeah, that's a brand new pavilion too, like brand Oh yeah the spot that burned down. Yeah, yeah, it's good. There's a woman on my Instagram story right now and she says bede of Cosca totally differently, and I'm like, is she right or
are we right now? I'm you know you're right with days? Yeah, okay, she says, but a cask of something? Yeah, and let me find it for you, just can you hear it? And like, what's her background that we would trust that she's maybe saying it right? She lives here, I don't know, let's find it. Work at Mill City Museum, not that that's anywhere near but day Macaska. But we I worked there when it like switched over, Yeah, could you turn that down?
Sorry to say I can't here Bailey over here. And so we had to be like trained in how to say it, and we were trained by like someone who spoke I don't know a jib. I don't know if it's no, it's not a jibway Lakota. I want to say Lakota. So here it is. I'll play it for you here. She is hold on a lot of people know this already, but yesterday I was attacked at LAKESCA. That's I know that girl. Do you know that? What do you know
about that girl? Well, I went to college with her and we were on an executive board and I heard that story about her, and unfortunately, it's like sad what happened. And she was like robbed mugged in the middle of the day by the lake and there was a restaurant nearby that the worker saw it all happen and helped her out and stuff, and I think someone stopped one of the guys and police came and was able to arrest one of them. But yeah, I do know that person. That's so odd that
you know her. Did you see that on Instagram? I did, because it's been going viral for from like local influencers that I know, and one of the local influencers is her sister, and so I saw it with that once and then I've had some people send it to me and yeah, I do know her. So she's a great person. But yeah, funny that you That is really weird. That's what happens when you work with people who have lived here for a long long time. I did pick it up.
It is Bede Macska. That's how you say it. So why would she manipulate it to sound different? Is she? I'm kind of surprised because she's a very intelligent person and I'm very successful, so and I think sometimes not an insult to her, but I think sometimes intelligent people want to show you they're a little more intelligent than you by doing something that they want to say you're wrong, I'm right. Or she could just not live in the Minneapolis
area and have no idea how to say it true. I feel like she's not. Then ask somebody. I think she was just telling a story and was like, okay, I think this is how you say it. I don't know. She got mugged, Dave, leave her alone. I guess I would say the name right, I don't know. Okay. Another one. You do play mini golf at the Walker. You did that last summer,
didn't you, Ja, Yeah, it's so fun. Yeah, I just expect to have to probably wait if you're going to do that, expect to wait right, yeah, okay, okay, let's turn the page and see if there are some other ones. I think that's all of them. There's there's a bunch more, but I obviously can't go through all of these. Their last one they said the final must do we all agree about go
to the Great Minnesota get together. Whether you make a day of it or twelve days, the State Fair is the best way to close out the summer with a bang. And again thanks to they didn't give me permission, but you know, I'm going to give shout out, maybe sell some magazines Minneapolis Saint Paul Best of Summer, and that is the you know what. It might be an older episode or issue because it says May twenty twenty four and
today is June seventh. So you can also go on the Meet Minneapolis website, which is just Minneapolis dot org and you can search their calendar literally by either today, tomorrow, the weekend, or like the whole month or next week, and it just shows you a bunch of stuff and you can like organized by category. If you're interested in theater, community, dance, festivals, fitness, What is your one of your favorite things to do in the
summer. I mean, the State Fair is an obvious one. I love the State Fair, but it also always reminds me that summer is coming to an end. And after it ends, the kids go back to school the next day, so something to do. I I like going to Minnewashta and taking along a bag of charcoals, some burgers and some condiments and a couple of drinks and lawn chairs and doing a little picanic there on the shores by
Lake Minawashta. I don't like to plug it too much because it's already gotten more crowded because we've talked about it on KATIEWB and a lot of people that didn't know how great Lake Minwashta Regional Park is now they go. So now it's not crowded, but it's busier than it was. And I've even wanting I want to go there now because I've never been, so now I'm gonna start rolling in and being like this is my leg baby. It's like Central Park. People don't realize how huge and vast it is. Yeah, and
it's a beautiful lake with a swimming beach. And I don't think they sell concessions. They do it. Lake and Regional Park, which is really nice, and that's you know, that's fine, give me one of your favorite things in the summer to do, Jenny. Truly, I'm very sad about
it because I can't do it anymore. But Andrew and I would go to Valley High Drive in every single summer, and that hasn't been open for two summers now, and I doubble check their website again today hoping that like maybe something happened that they reopen for the summer, and they haven't, So that makes me sad. But mostly just the fact that, like the sun stays out late, and I'm just more inspired to do things at like seven pm, like go on a bike ride instead of just like, oh, it's
time to be inside, it's dark, it's cold, whatever. It's really just like that extra inspiration to get out and do something. Like you were out on a walk last night. We walk, Yeah, I was still out. It was lovely. It was so nice out, Yeah, beautiful. What time was your walk last night? Well, I mean I went on a walk in the afternoon, and then I went on another one because it was so lovely, and so I left at maybe six forty five and I didn't get back until eight fifteen. Wow, you're up for a long
time. Yeah. I went out for a later walk last night too. Is like, I'm not going to sit around the house. I just I want to go outside. So I took Josie out for a couple of miles. Give me something you want to do in the summer in Minnesota. Well, I mean, obviously walking around all the parks and all the lakes and whatnot is what wonderful. But I do really like going to breweries and sitting outside, and so I will take advantage of any friend I have that is
willing to hang out at a patio at a brewery with me. Okay, yeah, and nice summerstime, Minnesota. What about you? There's an idea? Maybe you want to send us a couple of ideas for things that you love to do this summer, because come Monday, we are going to need some more letters and emails and content for the Minnesota Goodbye. That's why we call you a staff writer, because we need you to write. And you've written before, and we read it, we had a good time with it.
Please write again. If you've written before and we never quite got to it, then try again. If you've written before and or you've never written. We'd love to hear from you, send your thoughts, anything you want to talk about, because really that is the heart of the Minnesota Goodbye.
And if you want to ask something a little bit more dicey or whatever, something more personal, this is the place to do it because we get to talk about things on the Minnesota Goodbye we don't normally talk about on the show. Ryan Show at kdb dot com,
