Transcript

And Jenny jin it's take three on the Minnesota Goodbye, y'all. I pride myself and being pretty good at my job, but today just it hasn't been it for me. I started recording the podcast The Minnesota Goodbye earlier, got two and a half minutes in, realized Drake's mike wasn't on. Drake, can you speak for me for a second, I'm speaking, and I can see I put Drake's mike up. And then we get about eleven minutes into starting it over again, and I realized I didn't have the correct buttons in

for the audio to pick up on his mic. And now here we are again reading three of the emails. We've already read a couple times already, so let's see if we can have any kind of original thought anymore on these emails. Here we go, Jenny the morning, do please don't say my name? Yesterday, Jenny and Drake discuss PTO on the topic of unlimited PTO came up and I thought it's my time to shine. My employer switched to an unlimited PTO plan a few years ago, and let me tell you it's

a scam. You are only allowed to use your unlimited PTO. If your boss a pre so at any point, they can decline your request, not to mention that unlimited PTO doesn't apply to FMLA claims or maternity leave. There are also studies that show that employees who are offered unlimited PTO only take it when they really need it, or take less PTO than if they accrue it.

It's also a way for the company to lessen their liability on their financial books, because accrued PTO is an expense on the books, but with unlimited PTO you don't accrue any and the employee isn't owed any of that if they leave. I thought all of that was interesting. Anyways, if you have any more seffarator sickers, I love one, we will get you a cent

one. So the only thing I'll say about that is, you know, I would say most jobs that don't have like unlimited PTO, they can deny and they will deny your PTO because I mean, we both work a job where we have limited amount of PTO, we get ours denied. I think there's plenty of jobs. I would say most jobs have that ability, whether they're unlimited or not. So I guess that arguments kind of a little bit out the window. But as far as like you know, maternity leaving all

that, yeah, that does that does suck for sure. So yeah, and I would say also that, like I have heard the statement that people who have unlimited don't even end up taking like really much at all versus people who just like have their set amount. But yeah, we definitely if one of us is off on the show, nobody else can be off. So

that's just how it works with us. So that's why it's like, if I play plan a vacation five months ahead of time, I have to like ask Dave like, hey, I want these dates off, like is that going to be okay? And he doesn't plan that far ahead of time. So sometimes it gets a little convoluted because Dave will forget I asked for certain days off whatever. But for the most part, we work around at Drake

did. Unfortunately, though, I have to basically miss all of a wedding last month because Dave had two days off for his magic convention and Drake couldn't be off then, right, So that's a bummer, all right, Moving on, Good morning, my lovely katiewb peeps. Thanks for doing what you do. It does make my experience in life more rich question, why do

people cheat if they want to be that intimate with someone else? Why hurt your magnificant other like that as well as exposing them to a whole plethora of potential STIs Maybe I am just old and hold to more traditional values where my word and commitment means something love all y'all? All right? That comes from BFF and staff writer Mike. So I am going to say this. I'm

going to come out and say it. I will say if you are a toxic cheater and you are purposely lying to your you know, you're the person you're in a relationship with, and you're cheating on them on purpose and you're not talking to them about it, you are a coward. I'm going to just throw that out there. I won't say anymore. I just do not like people that are toxic and cannot stand up and have an actual conversation with

a person that they agreed to have a relationship with. So, I think a wide range of people listen to this podcast anyone anywhere, from people who are maybe like high school eighteen twenty is aged to people who are like sixty and so. I think that everyone has different life experiences and has different takes on cheating because of their life experiences. So it's very Mike, we don't have an answer for you. There's literally non give an answer. I think

there's narcissists to just cheat because they're narcissists. I think that there's people who are unhappy in a relationship, but there's other factors, like they don't have the financial means to be on their own, so then they don't leave their partner because they couldn't financially handle being on their own. But then they're like not happy with that partner, so then maybe they go cheat because of that.

And I'm not saying that any of that is okay. I don't think that that's okay, But there's just so many factors that go into why people cheat that it's not a universal answer. And I believe in monogamy if that's what your relationship is, and I do believe you should be truthful with your partner, and if you are not feeling it with your partner anymore, then figure it out and leave the relationship and let your partner know. You know, this isn't it for me anymore. But I agree that like if you're

just going out and cheating. It's fucked up. Like, I just I don't understand that. I just I don't get Let me just lie to the person that I've been dating for the last five years and just go hook up with somebody else because I'm too scared to tell them I'm not interested in them anymore. Yeah, like get out of here. Yeah yeah, okay, onto the next email. This one comes from hold on because I just accidentally deleted it. It comes from Anna. It says, hey, you fabulous

people. Question for you. Like Jenny, I'm a traveler. I like to get the fuck out all of the time, get me to the mountains as much as possible. Problem is, my budget doesn't allow for as many trips as I'd like. We do get away three to four times a year, but girl, it's not enough. So my question is how do I fall in love with Minnesota in the Midwest, even though it's flat and boring and full of corn. I'm not a city girl, but could hike all

day? You're bestie, Anna, Such a good question. I think that you just have to try to make day trips around the Twin cities to enjoy things, and like, no, you're not going to get mountains like the Rocky Mountains or you know, the beautiful Cascades or something like that are in Minnesota. But there's still very very beautiful spots to go, and yes,

like if you want to do a trip up to the north Shore. I know some people who have drove to the north Shore because it's about a three hour drive from the cities up to about loots in area, pending traffic and stuff, and they've done it in one day because like it was fall time they wanted to go up and get pictures all that stuff. But realistically, I think it is more of like you should stay overnight one day, so

then that does end up costing money. But I think there's a lot of day trips you could do or Saturday to Sunday trips which will cost you some money, that you could do that could make you fall in love with Minnesota more. I mean, we did Crosby, Minnesota over a Labor Day weekend where Andrew and I rented an airbnb for the weekend and it was right on a lake and we kind of just explored the area and it was so nice

to see like a different part of Minnesota. I mean, the lakes around there, it's right, it's close to Malax and then the mountain biking. There's all the mining lakes in Cayuna, So there's definitely options. It's just that if you live in the Twin Cities area, Anna, I'm sure that like it is going to be a drive for most of the options, at least at least like an hour or two drive. So I don't have an

answer for you outside of that, I don't know. What do you think, Drake, How is she supposed to fall in love with Minnesota in the Midwest? I mean, you pretty much said it all. I think going out and just checking new things out. I mean, there's so many places that I haven't even been able to like really go see because I just don't have the vacation like you mentioned, and it's it's just really hard. But there's plenty of websites that I've used that just tell you where to go.

Yeah, and if you find people that have lived here their whole lives, they're obviously going to have some of those some of those really nice spots. So yeah, just a suggestion. Outside of Minnesota, there is the Apostle Islands, There's Door County. There. Door County is beautiful. This is

going to be like quite a hike to go to. But Madeline Island is an island in Michigan where literally cars are not allowed to be on it, so you can drive to like one a then you have to take a ferry or a boat or something over it to the island and it's just like this

very old school kind of vibe. I really want to do like maybe a longer weekend there in the summer or something this weekend, so that would be maybe just like a short little trip for me, and it shouldn't be like too expensive because we would be able to drive up to the point where then you get on the ferry to get to Madeleine Island because I don't know how to describe it. You'd drive like up through northern Wisconsin and through like the

up of Michigan to then get it. Like that's the fastest way from the Twin Cities. But maybe check out some of those things because there's just other options. And you've done Door County, right, Oh yeah, yeah, the county is beautiful. Probably what like a three and a half four hour drive from the city is from here about five yeah, five hours. I

don't I don't know a ton about North and South Dakota. What kind of options might be like somewhat closed, Like, I know the Black Hills aren't too far away, but I think that that's like a trip in itself. That's not like a weekend trip. I don't think. I think you need like a little more time. And same with Madeline Island. That is an other place that you would need more than just a weekend two if you're driving, which most people would. Okay, let's see, hey Jenny and Drake.

I was listening to the Monday episode of the podcast and was wondering if Jenny went for a walk at Badama Coska. I was there with my partner, and now I'm freaking out that I might have passed her and Andrew without even knowing it. Lol. I was not. We Andrew ended up having some things come up. He's a real estate agent, so he had showings later in the afternoon when I basically was free to do all that stuff.

So we did not end up going on a walk. I went on just like a little short one by myself in my neighborhood, so you did not pass me. I also agree with Drake all employees should be paid a livapool wage. Isn't that the standard of most countries in the developed world. It's especially galling because the lowest wage jobs are usually the hardest and or most dangerous or unhealthy and worked largely by people of color, so it traps those employees

in a vicious cycle. In Hamper's advancement, home buying, higher education, et cetera. What is the solution America? Yeah, you know that is going to take more than the Minnesota Goodbye to talk about, for sure. It is. It is definitely a very I mean, it's a complicated. It is complicated, and I think a lot of people have very different opinions about it. Like I know that I talk a lot about working multiple jobs.

I don't wish that anyone would have to work multiple jobs to live Like my twenties were a constant Like I lived with like a pantry in my car because I was going from one thing to the next constantly that I just had random food in my car all the time to be able to eat because I wasn't having enough time for meals. Do I wish that that's how my life was in my twenties, I don't, But did it teach me a lot about work ethic, yes, and so, but I don't wish that on

anyone else either. I wish that people could work a job and like have a livapool wage. So for sure, it's a hard topic. Yeah, I think it also depends on what your lifestyle is, like, how you want to live your life. Like For me, I'm single, twenty three years old at living in like a pretty nice apartment. Like I'm I would say, like it's definitely the fanciest apartment I've lived in since moving here.

But the reason I was able to afford it was because, a I work here, which I make a pretty pretty good wage here, but I also do twitch, which pays me a good chunk of money as well. And you know, that way, I'm able to, you know, have a pretty decent car, able to live in a pretty decent apartment, and I can go out and have fun like, oh, gamble or whatnot, and I still have like all that extra money. So I hate that in order to have fun in your life and to afford, you know, some decent

things, that you need to be working more than one job. Like that

sucks, but that that really is just the reality of it. I don't think there's really an answer for it right now, And I don't know if it's like if it's because my algorithm is really stuck on millennial things on TikTok, But we're in such an unfortunate economy with interest rates and just cost of living and obviously inflation right now that I just see millennials constantly, Like I saw one girl just straight up crying because she's like, I don't know what

to do anymore. I work. I think she said she worked like two or three jobs and she still can barely afford and like that is really really sad to hear that, Like you're working jobs and your multiple jobs and you're still now Granted, obviously there's a lot of questions like what is her idea of being able to afford of like living and she getting her nails done and like doing all these extra things, which I'm people might come at me by saying, like you should be able to get your nails done, right,

But I think that there are some luxuries that you can cut out of your life when it comes down to it, because that's just like how economy works. Inflation happens, and sometimes you have to cut things out. Sure, but you should also have certain luxuries, like I treat myself to coffee on the weekends and if I didn't have that, it would make me really, really sad. And I bet you any money my mom would say, well, start cutting out your coffee on the weekends. I'd be like, fuck

you, I'm just kidding. I would never say that to my mom. I did mom. My mom would never listen to those I would never did to my mom. I love her so much. I love her so much. But yeah, it's it's a question. Okay, there's so more to this. Email says also, I will absolutely die on the hill of saying that, yes, cashwe milk is milk. If we can make it from

oats or almonds or soy, then you have to include cashewe milk. I have been using such drinking almond milk for years because I can't handle regular milk. This was a conversation a couple like a week or so ago about if, like if those are if it's milk, because when you define milk, how do you define milk? So and then they can She continues to say. I wanted to end my rambling email by saying I love the Morning Show and Drake and Jenny are my peeps. I grew up in southwest Wisconsin and

identify with so many of their experiences. Yes, I am also a Packers fan for life, your favorite HR employee listener, and Dart Liquor in parentheses. Not Annie from Roseville so much? Okay, and then let's see hi jennin Dre love the Survivor review. So that was on yesterday's episode. I want weekly opinions from Jenny Andrew. Question knew Jolensky was a fraud from the start. Oh, I think they were just saying I knew. They said I knew Jelensky was a fraud from the start. That comes from Sonya.

Yes he was. He was all right, we're gonna move on because I know a lot of people don't listen to or don't watch Survivor Good Morning Show. I my name is Travis. I've only been listening for about two years, but I love your show, so I want to say thank you. I tend to skip back and forth between the podcasts when i'm driving. Well, the last few days I've been listening to the Minnesota Goodbye, and I've noticed a few people have asked to be set up and you guys politely say

we have tried doing that and it doesn't turn out well. But I was thinking, you guys throw other parties like jingle Ball in Ladies' night out, Well maybe you could throw a singles night out or a singles ball. Lol. I understand if you don't want to. It's a lot of work, but as a single person, it was worth a try again. Thank you

for all you do. Ah, all right, God Travis. That is something that we have done in the past, and unfortunately, well they we haven't done like a setup party, but we've done I think we did a booty cruise once with it was a co ed one and it got like really bad, Like I think there was fighting with guys and so like boo bash is co ed. But that's like a Halloween party. So it's a I don't know, I don't know how to describe it. Dave. I would

need Dave here for this one. Yeah, singles night just sounds like someone's gonna catch an STI or something. Well, honestly, I would hope something great comes out of it, and if that ends up being the unfortunate situation, maybe like a treatable one, like you know, like whatever things happen sometimes, but Travis, we'll pass the long door promotions director. We'll see what we can do for you. Or maybe Travis, you're just gonna have to come to the next co ed party like Boo Bash that we host,

and that is gonna be it for the Minnesota Goodbye. Hey, thanks for hanging out with Drake and I all week long. Dave's going to be back on Monday, so it'll be Dave and I back on the podcast again. So feel free to send your emails in Ryan Show at KADIWB dot com. Whenever you're listening to this. I don't know what day of the weekend might be, but I hope you have a wonderful weekend if you're listening on Friday,

and if you're listening on Tuesday, well have a good Tuesday. But as always, thanks for listening and send us your emails.
