What did you come back from? And the reason I bring this up on the Minnesota Goodbye is I thought it might be kind of an interesting topic to say, what did you come back from? And I'm inspired, not inspired, that is the totally wrong word. I'm reading a quote from Kevin Spacey, and you know, Kevin Spacey is like, you know, did some gross things and horrible and he says, I know there are a lot of people right now who are ready to hire me the moment I am cleared of

these charges. In London, he's up on four counts of sexual assault against three men. So it's not like something like a you know, like speeding or drag racing. It's horrible and I'm not inspired by Kevin Spacey, but it inspired this thought. Yeah, he wants to come back. I don't care if we ever see him again, whatever he's been missed. I feel

bad saying, though, I mean it's yeah, I don't know. I think because we loved him so much, because he was such a great, dry, classic actor in so many great things, House of Cards, what was the one with the commauty American beauty? So I don't care if he comes back or not, but but I want to ask you if you fallon and me and maybe even Jenny has had something they have come back from, and I think that it's kind of an interesting kind of a comeback story.

I came back from getting fired in Phoenix twice in two years. I worked at radio station that changed formats and I got fired. I never thought i'd be fired, and I wasn't fired because I did anything bad. They just the station wasn't working. And I was devastated because I was going to be the one person in radio. They say in radio, you've never really been in radio till you've been fired. I said, not me. I'm never going to get fired. But I came back from it. And I also

came back from a really ugly relationship with Julie. And I think one thing that I've just learned is that if you do the right thing, and you don't try to be a shit or an asshole, or you don't try to damage the other person, You're probably going to come back. Because with Julie, it was such an ugly relationship and she used Chase against me, and I never trust me. I had my weak moments too. I one time made fun of the fact that if she you know, didn't have sex with

all these guys. She'd live in a trailer park. And you remember that, right, Oh yeah, yeah, that was way later though, you did that, like you guys got that was a weird fight because that was like after Chase was like an almost an adult at that tentish years ago, tenish years ago. Yeah, it wasn't even like you were fighting over child support or anything like that anymore. Yeah. And by the way, Chase's birthday is Friday. Don't let me forget. I gotta call him for his

birthday. For a second, I was like, it is Friday. My whole we've thinking to be like David, it's Friday, I gotta call him now. I mean something like, maybe you came back from a house fire. A friend of mine, her house burned down when she was thirty years old. It burned down, everything was in it. It was her and her sister's apartment and it burned down, and she came back. You know,

So, what did you come back from? Off the top of your head, maybe you don't have one faulon what did you come back from? Oh, I've been thinking about the whole time, and you've been talking about it, and I don't know. I mean, I've I've gone through hard times, but I don't. I haven't had like a I guess, well, I've had big things happen in my life. But do I feel like

I've come back? Not necessarily, I don't. I don' feel like there's everybody like I'm a phoenix rising from the ash's moment, you know, like a bad divorce or a bad like a marriage that they cheated on you and abused you and spend all your money or something like that, and you moved into your sister's camp or in her backyard and you came back and now you're

a neurologist. I mean something like that. I have a very good friend who was in an abusive relationship, and interesting enough, she was in an abusive relationship at work and with her partner. She got out of the partner and the relationship at work continued, and that person made her feel like she

would never go on to do more outside of that job. And she made more in like her first year away from that job than she did ever wow, working with that person and owns her own business now, and that I think, I'm like, you're a inspirational What did you come back from. I'd love to hear your story if you want to send you know, don't make it overly long, because I don't want to make it like a fifteen page email. But if you came back from something, I'd love to hear

what you came back from. Send that to Ryan Show at katieb dot com. Jenny, Yeah, what have you come to? Anything that comes to mind? I mean, I would say, like, because I've always feared failure. One of my first like full time jobs that wasn't serving was working for this real estate talk show on WCCO, and I was not It's hard to describe the job, but basically I was every department of a radio station, your sales, your promotions, your event planner, your producer, like

everything, and what they really wanted was me to sell their show. And I didn't know anything about sales at that point. So I got let go after like five months. And it was like a test run position anyway,

they just started it, and so I got let go from that. So I went home and cried, I drank a whole bottle of wine, I passed out, and then I started I was still working part time as a server, just back to full time as a server and then honestly, it was like one of the best things that happened, because that wasn't the kind of radio I wanted to be doing anyway, And I just kept doing it because it was like the job, but it wasn't fun for me. It wasn't like the fun kind of radio I wanted to be in. So now

like, look at me. Now I get to be on this fun morning show and this is like where I wanted to be. So I am very I am happy that that ended up not working out. You know, the same thing with me. I worked at a radio station in Phoenix right before I came here, and it was a hip hop station, and the hip hop audience loves their music. They really loved their music, and they didn't want to hear a nerdy white guy doing silly bits like okay, let's see

how many like earthworms we can eat in twenty minutes. And we did stuff like that and it failed and it bombed, and the hip hop audience didn't respond to that. But so I got fired. And but if I hadn't gotten fired, I wouldn't have gotten this job, which has been my life besides my kids and family and my wife what's her name. It's Tricia. Yeah, well that's the one you don't talk about, is often, right

exactly? Okay, this is a good segue to red flags. Remember yesterday we were talking about dating app red flags and somebody was talking about how there they when they met this guy. He said on his tender profile that he was like a certain age and she found out that he even though he was older. She's like, yeah, he's a little out of my age range, but okay, I like him. So now she found out that he lied about his age on there too, So he's lying. He's other words,

like ten years older than he said he was. Yeah, is that a red flag? And I think we all kind of, like, you know, agreed that lying to you is a red flag because if he lies so easily, what else is he gonna lie about? Right? So this email says, I'm listening to the Minnesota Goodbye and you asked if changing one's age on a dating app as a red flag. Caught myself off guard by letting it out a big ham because this happened to jog my memory to last

year when I was driving with my thirteen year old daughter. She randomly told me she found out her dad met his new wife on Tender six weeks after meeting and moving out. I might add he not only made himself five years younger, putting himself at thirty nine verses forty four, but he also had a fake name listed. Oh now, I can only assume this was a tender profile he had actively used while we were married, since the incognito name.

But wouldn't you think to update your fake name to your real name once you start using the app for actual dating? You would think? I think that. She goes on to say, I think the definition of red flag is starting off a relationship with somebody who not only lied about their age but also his name. That just screams I'm willing and capable of lying about anything. But then again, I'm just the crazy X, so what do I know. Also of note years ago, totally different subject, when Carson was

a team that's my son, Carson. He's twenty two now. Dave mentioned that he realized the one place easiest to get teens to talk is in the car, because the pressure to make eye contact isn't there. I tucked away that little gem of Dave wisdom as mine were in elementary school at the time,

but now with two teens, it really does ring true. In the cars where I heard the unsolicited tender story from her thirteen year old among other issues with friends, teammates, school, etc. I was able to help give advice goes without saying, my mornings are incomplete without at last two hours of the morning show, followed by the other two missed hours, and the

Minnesota could buy in the afternoon, so that's cool. She listens in the morning for two hours, then the rest in the afternoon, and the Minnesota gould buye. Keep on, keep an on. Minnesota will be lost without you. All cheers. Twenty five year old Maggie fake age and name ha ha ha. I agree with her. It's like it is a red flag the boat. If you start off, especially with those small things, then you start questioning if they're lying about something as small as age, what else

are they gonna lie about. Someone asked me another day, like how soon Jake told me about Dylan. I'm like, immediately, like the first day we started texting. He we did like the flirty back and forth, and then he was like, I should let you know, like I have a kid. If that's not your thing, I want to be upfront, like immediately, and he had a picture of him on his dating profile. But you never know. You're like, is then their nephew or their actual kids?

Sure? So I mean I don't know. I'm glad, Yeah, I don't. I hate hearing stories like that because you get excited and then you find out they're lying about stuff. I don't know. I picked up a girl for a date back when I was about twenty twenty one years old, and I don't remember how. I didn't know she had a baby until I brought her home and then I and then all of a sudden, the baby was there. And I don't know if the babysitter dropped her off or

what. But here I was thinking, we're going to go to town after this day, and the baby comes in. The baby's crying in the crib, and I'm like, you got a baby? She's like yeah, So but there was one date, big deal. I mean, you know, it was dating. Who cares. I don't remember when I told Susan about Beth, but I I truly don't remember. Yeah, well i've been a minute, so I don't thank you for not remembering. Yeah, I mean I know that I didn't tell her right away. But I admire Jake for

like putting that out there, and you know, I think that. You know, I have a friend right now. She's got three grown kids, and she's like, nobody wants to date me. And I said, well, you're you're funny, you're attractive, you're a lot of fun, you're very smart, you're independent, and you have lovely kids. And they're grown, so they're not really that big of a factor, especially if somebody else got kids of their own. So yeah, all right, next one could

be the last one. We're a little short on emails today. Oh this one is a technical issues, so let's talk about this for a little bit. Good morning only. Your show is having problems posting. It is currently six fifteen on Wednesday, and today's show still isn't there. It's become a daily problem, frustration. I love to listen at work. I know it's a first world problem. What's the delio? I've closed the app, I've cleared the cash where we started the app. My phone nothing works. I

suspect it's because you break it into four or five episodes. All the other podcast us on the app only have that one episode and auto download just fine. What's the latest on this, Jenny, You're probably more in tune with this with a night. Yeah, so we have no idea what's going on this week because it's had issues every single day. So I will confirm that,

yes, we are having issues this week. We have been in talks with the company that we work their technical department every day, Drake and I have, and like our digital director here at iHeart, we are supposed to be switching to a different platform shortly because the company that we're using it's just been too many issues. So we're kind of in the process of that.

I apologize. I Drake has been checking every day and reposting it and he has to repost it like ten different times until it usually finally shows up. But I yeah, right now, we're about as far as we can get with like being on this company, but we're hopefully switching over very soon to something else. It is frustrating, and I appreciate you being, you know, a big enough supporter of the show that you want to listen and that

much. I really do, and I really want to take care of you because I believe in taking care of people who It's kind of like I always say, if people are a big enough supporter of the show to write into the show. They deserve the respect of a response or to read their email. And sometimes we blow it, but we really do try. And I always say, if you like, if people take the time, I hate it. One of my worst pet peeves in radio is to say, hey,

we'll take callor number ten and give away Taylor Swift tickets. And I hear the DJ go, he'll hit the line and go caller one, hit the next line, Caller two, hit the next line, caller three, caller four, caller five, And I'm like, don't do that shit to the people that support our show, yeah, because they deserve better than a quick caller one, caller two, caller three. And I tell people who answer the phone, answer the phone, say hey, Kati would be your

caller number one. Try it again, okay, caller number two, Hey, thanks for trying. Keep trying. And then after we get a winner, we're on the phone with a winner on line three and all the other lines are blinking, and I hate that. And I try to tell people that answer the phones on the show, answer, put the winter on hold, put the other phones answer them, and say, hey, we got a winner. Already then put that line on hold and busy it out so

people can't get through. And so I think it's so back to my point, it pisces me off when you have a bad experience listening to something that we are inviting you to participate in. Yeah, we've all don't know we've I know we've had like you, I'm glad to Herry Jenny. I didn't know that we were switching because we have had so many issues on and off, and it's like everyone has so many other things to focus on, from

us to you. You don't want it. Why should you have to delete your app, re download it, exit out of your app, try to clear your history or whatever your cookies like this is. That's so ridiculous. You should never have to do that. It should be an easy listening experience. Well, and that goes back to the other day. I was at that store and I told you, there were six people behind the counter working.

I walked in, I waited for a minute. Not one of them acknowledged me, asked me what my order is, or looked at me, and so I walked out. And I think that's what people will do with the podcast, and I don't like it. Because if people try to listen to the podcast, the average person is going to go, I tried, it's not working. I probably won't try again, or maybe I'll try again next week. And I don't like that. If you come into my restaurant, I'm going to try to give you the best service, so you go,

oh, that was a good experience. I'm going to come back again tomorrow. So we're working on it. We really are aware that there's some issues, and I think one of the reasons it's failing right now is because we're in a transition. So yeah, and the Minnesota Goodbye always posts because that is actually the system we're trying to get switched over to pretty much, which is funny. Why do we use two different systems, but we do. We do so, and that is going to do it for the Minnesota

Goodbye. Tell me what you lived through, Tell me what you came back from. Maybe you came back from a bad like you moved to Montana to start your own saddle shop and I bombed. Saddles are huge in Montana, right, yeah, So maybe you went there and you lost everything and you came back from it. What if somebody listening he's like, oh, my god, how did he know all right? Send an email to Ryan Show at KDWB dot com thank you for listening.
