Transcript

It's Minnesota Goodbye, and guess what, it's a new version that we've never had before because it's Jenny and who little old me, little you lot, Jennifer. Hi, I was just doing dandy. You know, it's it's going to be a gorgeous day today, it's Monday. It's like we should start going by our full names on this show. I know you do call me Jennifer a lot, and you're pretty much the only person who ever has done that since I worked here. I feel like I called somebody texted.

Actually, I say David quite often. Also, you're right. I think I call him David a lot too when he's in trouble, and then I just do it because I like to think that I'm his parent. You guys can call me that's my government because I don't like my full name. That's your government name. No, I was going to say, no, it isn't. I don't want to reveal it. Okay, people though, all right, So Von obviously doesn't he's not normally on the Minnesota Goodbye, so

he doesn't always know what has been happening and what we've been discussing. But the most recent kind of topic was people getting drunk at work events and if anyone has stories about it. So we're going to kick off today's podcast with a story about someone getting too drunk at a work event, except for it's not about them, it's about I believe their boss. It says, my

boss had to work at Christmas party at their house. I don't have a bunch of co workers, maybe fifteen to twenty of us total, and we're all pretty close. We all started the night slowly drinking, nothing too crazy. My boss is an older man and can definitely handle his liquor, but most of us are twenty one to twenty six year old women. One of my co workers, who also happened to be a good friend of mine, started taking shots with my boss. He was feeding her shots left and right.

Before we knew it, she was absolutely hammered, falling over. Everyone else is either sober or slightly buzzed while she's just having a gran old time. We were trying to exchange secret stand and gifts and she was asleep on the couch, then went to the bathroom to throw up a few times and had another coworker driver home. Okay, smart, happy, you guys were safe with that. Definitely a memorable night for all of us. Maybe not

for her, though I don't think she remembered. She was horribly embarrassed the following day and profusely apologized, but it was good entertainment for us, So it was her coworker, not her boss. I misspoke there. Yeah, I mean that sounds like pretty typical, like when you're she said, twenty one to twenty six year old age, you don't always know. You think you can keep up sometimes and you can't always keep up. So yeah, you got yeah, be careful with that one. I feel like like we

had an office holiday party like us. I heard a couple of months ago, and our boss Rich was there. I don't even feel comfortable, Like it's not as nothing to do with Rich, but just like taking shots like that in front of like a boss, it just feels weird to me. You were taking tequila shots. I didn't wait all like, I said no to those fallon and I were like a hard pass, No, I'm not taking in tequila shot right now. But you're also like, like, what

fast thing from drinking or whatever? Well at the time, I was not, but yeah I'm not. I'm not drinking. Uh for the time being. Yes, I just think that's strange, just like, I don't know, it feels weird, and I don't ever want to put myself in an environment because I have a good ass time, But yeah, I don't know.

You gotta be careful at work events for sure. I think one Star Party, Zach Dylan had just like this really nice bottle of bourbon or whiskey or something, and so he was just sipping it straight and he's like, do you want someone? I was like, yeah, why not? Like Tina had drove us there, so I knew I had to drive home if I was like drinking and stuff. And none of us ever get like drunk

at a work event, especially not something like Star Party. But yeah, Zach and I were definitely drinking some like bourbon straight up and just like vibing and having a good time. It was great. I loved it. Animal all right, moved out of the next email and says, hello morning show in Minnesota, goodbye friends. Earlier this week, I heard Dave sharing his experience about being served by someone who was once a big shot, successful higher

up employee and being totally put off by it. So I wanted to share my story in a nutshell, I went to college, got my bachelor's and have established myself in my industry pretty well. I have over eight years in my field, and I'm finally someone's boss and have hierarchy over a lot of my coworkers. Despite the job title changes, raises, and growing success, your girl still wants more than she can have. So I recently got a second job as a server, and not more than two months into the new

gig, my assistant and her whole family came in. I was excited to see her and it was a great time, but I couldn't help but feel awkward about how it might be perceived by her family, like are they paying her enough? Why is her boss here? What kind of ladder is there to climb if you still need to work two jobs, etc. But they don't know my story, and I wonder if it's at all similar to the

guy that you saw. Life is expensive. Say it again, girl, I make great money at the day job, but I bought a house last year at a six point seventy five interest rate you and have been pinching pennies ever since. I want to save for a basement room model and a new patio, and I want it now. While I save a little every month of my paycheck. I know I have the energy and drive to hustle even more. Not to mention, I absolutely can't justify spending any fun money while

I'm dedicated to my other goals. Since starting that second job, I've built up my savings and been able to splurge on myself, my boyfriend, and my two kiddies. And I'm so happy about it. While it isn't the most glamorous, it's the smartest thing I've done in a while, and I'm thriving with the second gig. Anyway, I just thought I would share and tell y'all. Listen and tell y'all I listened to all of your shows and

you're the best. My boyfriend always gives me shit, and says Dave Ryan again, haha, that's all all all right, then that comes from Cassie. So different perspective, because if you missed this on the show, Dave basically just said that he had gone out to dinner and at the restaurant he went to, it was a server of someone who used to The server was someone who used to work at KATIEWB and at first Dave was kind of like surprise to see him there, but then he was like, oh cool,

you're a server. Like that's a fun gig. And as I was once a server for many years of my life, serving is a great gig. You can make good money doing it. It's it's fun to like socialize and interact with people. And the best part about it is you go in for your shift and you leave and you are done for the day. You don't bring your work home with you. You don't have to listen, you don't have to text, you don't have to email, you don't have to do

any of that stuff. So it's one of those jobs that you just got to like be there for your shift and then you're done with it, you know. I mean, I get like the whole I guess the raw rob behind it because imagine, like we so we went to Crave around the corner of Saint Louis Park and we just saw Ryan Seacrest as a server. Like I feel like the there should be no shame in it, but I understand the perceived like the perception of like damn, like fall from grace on this

guy. But yeah, you gotta do what you gotta do to make some money. Yeah, but this girl, I mean just straight up said like she's got a good job, she just wants more money. So she's like, cool, I'm gonna get that second job to get my basement remodeled and all that stuff. And I mean, I do dogs sitting on the side, and I do that so that I can afford to go on trips. That's like one of my main things is how I can afford to go on the trips that I go on is because I hustle and do the dog stuff

on the side. You think I'd get in trouble with I started in only fans for extra money. No, it would be a great bit for the show. You should absolutely do that, and you'd probably get a lot of money because listeners would start subscribing. So I think you should look into it. Clear it with a girlfriend. Andrew did tell me recently that if I started only fans he would be okay with it, but he wanted to be

featured every once in a while. And I go, what kind of feature are we talking about here, because like, because then that means you got to share the ag Yeah, I was like, I don't know about that exactly. Would you do like how intimate of not at all? Not at all? I would straight listen and we joke about me having disgusting feet because I have like runners feet and had a black toe after a half marathon once

upon a time, you know, all that good stuff. So I don't have like the most beautiful feet, and I kind of have like fat toes, like they're short and chunky. So I don't know how well my feet. Only fans would do. Probably not well, but that's probably the only thing I'd be willing to do, because I if I was like twenty one, still, maybe I'd consider showing a little bit more. But I'm at a point in my life where nobody needs to see anything else on my body

besides my boyfriend. No, no way, Jose, All right, more emails here. This one says, don't say my name, vant so don't say their name. Okay. I have a story that might be good for group therapy, but the short version is my heart has been broken once in twenty twenty. I lived in Arizona at the time. After the heartbreak, I realized I had nothing holding me back. I accepted an amazing job opportunity that moved me across country. Across the country. I decided to put myself

first and move on. However, four years later, I still have feelings for him. He has recently came back into my life with short text here and there, and he has feelings for me too. So it sounds like you are looking for advice as to if you should pursue this hold on? Does this really say vant specifically? I said that to you. It's crazy? No, no, no, no, So we're not saying this person's

name. So interesting. So she says that her heart was broken. It was back in twenty twenty, literally uprooted her life and started a new one. But now this person has come back into her life, and so she's trying to figure out what to do. Man, if the two of you are reaching out, I mean that was four years ago now, and if you're both still interested and it was like this heartbreak and it was, I would say if as long as it wasn't an unhealthy relationship to start with,

then you should consider it. Because four years later, if you guys are still thinking about each other, that means that, like, I don't know, I think that there's still something there. Yeah, but how did he break you or how did they break your heart? I don't have that information right now. That's the key. Yeah, I agree. I'm a leo, so I'm big on. Like I'm big on. I don't want to stay holding on to grudges, but like I don't forget things, so I

think hard. And I'm also just a petty dude, So like I'll think about, like all the things that you did to me or whatever that said thing is. I uprooted my whole life for you, which is what make me nervous about my girlfriend. No, she didn't uproot her life. She uprooted it after they broke up. She said, screw it, starting over. I'm gonna move. Yeah, leave that baggage in the past home. I don't know, she says, four years later, I still have feelings

for him. She still has those feelings. Years is a long time. Four years years a long getting bachelor. Here's okay, this is how I will put it, because I've talked on the show before that. Andrew and I dated when we were like mid twenties, broke up for a HNM ful of years, started dating again when I think I was twenty nine or something.

He was twenty eight, and we like had that time apart. But for me, like I was always comparing every single guy I was dating to him, and I was always like, this person's not as good as he was, like and not sexually, I mean like as a human, like this person wasn't well yeah, okay, we'll put that in there as well, but I mean in general, just like no one ever really lived up to the standard that I had had from dating Andrew the first time. So for me, it was like, yeah, he was always on my mind

still and like whatever, we reconnected and got back together. So I am on the side of if there's something still there, good, but also I'm on the side of as long as you had a decent relationship the first time. Because Andrew and I went through things and stuff and we broke up, but like neither of us hated each other. We didn't, you know, like we didn't break up because of like something awful happening dingo. And that's the point. That's what I'm saying. You guys broke up for whatever,

it was like an amical breakup. Yeah, well, I mean he broke up with me, so it was like heartbreak for me more so. But we just like were dealing with shit in our lives that like ended our relationship at the time. Like we weren't mature enough to handle things at that time, and we broke up five or like handful of years you guys were broken up, you hadn't spoke or saw each other at all. No, I still think it's a little bit different. Like you said, like you were

comparing this, you were comparing these people. I don't feel like you uprooted your entire life. I just I feel like it's much different. Yeah. Well, if this person who emailed then wants to give us any more information, feel free too, because I am curious about like how you guys broke up in the first place. But I'm on the side of I say go for it. If you guys still have feelings for each other and it was a healthy relationship the first time. But mon's on the side of the past,

move on, get on with it all right. This one says I'll save this one for Dave because it says, Hi, Dave on it, let's see what's Yeah. This one says, Hey, Dave and Jenny, first time staff writer but longtime Minnesota goodbye and KATIEWBP one listener, y'all are the best and truly enjoy listening to you both On KATIEBB the Minnesota Goodbye makes

me feel at home When I am not in Minnesota. I travel a lot to spend time with family and friends, and I finally got the chance to catch up on Saturday, on the last week of the Minnesota Goodbye podcasting my flights. It got me thinking, do y'all have a favorite snack to bring when traveling? Or do you pick up a snack while at the airport? With the Minnesota State Fair coming up in a few months, how far in advance do y'all plan? Okay, hold on, let's go back to this

one first and then we'll get into the next lot of question. What is your favorite snack when you travel or what do you pick up at the airport? Pond? I just started traveling more recently, like since I moved here. Pringles Okay, original pringles because I'm basic, yep, what about you. When I'm on a road trip, I do really random things like the frosted animal crackers that are like the ones Those are my shit, I love them, yep, those are my faves. That's like a weird one.

And then also combos are like the only time I ever do like road trips or e commos are on road trips, and then same with at the airport. I kind of go for combos or like Guardetto's at the airport. But I also try to refrain from ever buying snacks at the airport because they're like double the price, so I don't usually right right, it's like two ounces to the six ounces you you should be getting. You know, of water? I know it's so you got to bring your own water bottles to the

airport, that's for sure. I always bring my own water bottle. Yeah, but then you fill them out at the water fountain. I haven't. Yeah, you gotta do that, Okay. Next question, with the Minnesota State Fair coming up in a few months, how far in advance do y'all plan what y'all are going to make the shirt, sweatshirts, et cetera, and what they're going to say. Have you guys talked about making a Minnesota Goodbye shirt? Curious to get some of the behind the scenes if you can

share this well fun fact. Emily is her name. We don't plan that far in advance. We do it a few weeks ahead of time. Maybe we shoot for getting designs together about a month ahead of time, but they get sent over to the printer and the designer only a couple weeks ahead of time you see them for the first time. When you do. Yeah, pretty much, there is not a whole I guess there's just not a lot of time before we actually are live at the fair selling them, and when

we actually get them in. So if for some reason somebody as an idea for a stay Fair T shirt, you're more than welcome to email us. We can definitely consider doing a Minnesota Goodbye shirt this year, That's for sure, because I know a lot of people listen to the Minnesota Goodbye, and they'll catch the show every once in a while when they can, but they like our diehards listen to the Minnesota Goodbye every single day. So we'll put that idea out there for you, Emily. Then she says, hope you

guys have the the best day. If this email is deserving to have a staff right a sticker, I love one, Emily. We will get you a staff right a sticker. Let me take a picture of your address quick before I forgot we should do a contest when people design their own shirts and then we like pick which one we're gonna sell it the Fair. I like that. I do like that idea, Okay. Instead here they'll be like, can you email us in like three months when the state fair is here

so you can we can remember this idea. Okay, Well, that's going to be it for the Minnesota goodbye today. We will take more emails. There are a couple in here that I think I'm just gonna save because that says like it's specifically addressed to Dave's so I just want to make sure that he's here to answer those, so we'll save those for when he gets back, but feel free to email us. It's going to be vaunted myself for

the next two days. Dave will be back on Thursday, so if there's anything in particular you want to talk to us about, feel free to send an email to Ryan's show at KDWB dot com.
