We are getting a lot of emails on the Minnesota Goodbye, and I appreciate that. So let's dive right in. This one says kids at the dog park. I've been want to bring up something that I've been running into frequently, and I'm curious what other listener's inputs might be. I've started noticing more and more parents bringing very young kids to the dog park and leaving them unattended.
I'm talking about kids age two to eight years old. They let their children run around, chase the dogs, and even had a few smack my dog and get in his face a few times. There have been kids bringing in candy or snacks that, of course, are right at the dog's level because they're short. My dog would never purposefully hurt anybody, but he's an eighty pound bulldog mix and bigger and stronger than these kids. I would never bring my dog to a children's park and let him run around freely off the
leash. Can you imagine the response those parents would have? No. I also feel like the dog park is one place dog owners can bring their dogs and let them run around off leash with no worry that dogs get rough sometimes and play wrestle or chase each other around, and I'm tired of having to make sure these kids are there aren't kids nearby who might get hurt. Am I wrong for not thinking kids should be allowed to come to the dog park? Dana, No, you're not wrong, but it's never gonna happen because
parents have to watch their kids. Yeah, so it is unfortunate because you know, you got a four year old and a six year old, you're gonna take, you know, brutus down to the dog park and let him run around. Well, you're gonna have to take your kids along with. Should you keep your kids occupied sitting at a table? Yeah, but they're probably just so excited to play with all the dogs too because they're there. That's interesting. I actually, I mean we take dogs to dog parks a
lot when we watch them. If they're good, like with other dogs, will take them to the dog park. And I never see kids at it. Ever. It's always just an adult with their dog to let the dog run around for a little bit and then they leave. I kind of see. I don't take Josie to the dog park very off for no reason in particular, but I don't really know. I see a lot of kids there
what I do see, and I have seen this a lot. We actually had a problem with this at the chan Hassen Minawashta Dog Park is people were not cleaning up the dog poop and they were going to close it down because people weren't cleaning up the dog poop until a bunch of volunteers got it all cleaned up and everybody said, yeah, we'll clean it up. But the problem is at a dog park, your dog is running seventy five yards down over the hill and behind the trees, so you don't see your dog poop,
so you don't know to clean it up. And it happened to me a year or so ago. I was out there with Josie and there was a dog pooping by itself and taking a big, old large dump. And I looked and slowly ambling up the hill was a woman with her friends, and they're chatting and talking and she didn't see the dog poop. And I know she didn't see the dog poop, so I wanted to kind of point
out in my minat a passive aggressive sort of way. I wasn't going to go, hey, your dog took a big poop over here, you need to clean that up. But I also wasn't going to let it go. So I walked over to her and I said, hey, your dog, just here's a dog poop bag. Your dog just pooped right over there. And she didn't say a word. She said, well she did. She said I've got one, thanks, and she was annoyed with me that I pointed it out. And I know, damn well, she didn't see it,
and she also would not have cleaned it up. Can I tell you one more quick story. I was out for a run the other day Sunday, and as I'm coming up the road in my neighborhood, there's like a little like a lawn grass area on one side, and a woman's dog was
taking a poop. And the dog is pooping, and as I'm getting closer, the woman's not picking it up. And I get a little closer and I see her start to fiddle with the poop bag really slowly, and I ran past her and I kept turning around to see if she actually picked up the dog poop, and I don't think she did. I think she fiddled with the bag to show me that she was going to uh huh, but I don't think she ever did. And I kept looking around and try.
I tried running backwards Jenny to see whether I could spot her. Yeah, and I don't think she ever picked it up. I think she mined picking it up, Okay, without getting too disgusting. Talking about poop, I do have a question because when we had Mickey, our old dog, we put her down back in November, she did not poop on walks, so it was very like I never had to clean up dog poop with her. And now when we watch these dogs, most of them will poop on a
walk. What do you do when the dog has more runny kind of a situation. I would say you kind of just like grab, like put it all over you grab the bag, you put it all over your hand. You kind of grab up some grass with it, and that's it, okay, because I feel like I don't even know what to do in that situation. Like Mickey never went she was like that was a huge blessing with her. She's never pooped on walks, Like we never brought poop eggs because she
was so weird about pooping. She could only poop in our yard along the fence. Interesting, No, Josie, It's funny because now she's fourteen, and she's got different habits. And we won't talk about poop all day, promise, but yeah, once in a while, it is something that you got to pick up. And you got to get mush and dirt and rock and grass in there too, but you got to pick it up. Yeah, pick up your dog's poop. God, next one, let's see here. No, that is not what I was looking for. Okay, here's
one says Minnesota. Goodbye, Dave, Jenny Drake. You are crushing the morning show. I look forward to hearing you every weekday morning. Thank you. I really appreciate that, Dave. Want to let you know that last year I caught a cold around this time, with a cough that hung for two months. I thought it was never going to go away, but eventually it cleared up. Hoping yours improves quickly. Some days it's good and some days it's not, and it's very frustrating. But we'll see what happens on
that topic. Being sick is the worst, but nothing makes you appreciate your health like when you get sick. True. Another thought, I've seen people sharing their baby's name before the baby is born more often recently. I'm not sure if it's a trend or something people will continue to do with social media? Is this a thing? Do you know anything about this? I haven't
seen anyone share their baby's name until the baby's born. No. Also, I'm remembering there is a fall apple Orchard Steve bit that might need to be pulled up from the depths for its yearly rerun. Thanks for all you do, staff writer Taylor. Do you know what they're talking about, Steve apple Orchard? It wouldn't be well, there's the leaf peeping that we are peeping one that Steve did to watch because it like we are peepings? Why yea, yeah, yeah, yeah, so that was one, but it wasn't.
I don't know one that was just Steve that was follow chart only the dix Insider ones that Steve's on. Some of those can you pull up really quick at Dixonsider because we can't play it on the radio. But if you pull it up and putting over here on the button bar technical term, I can play one because we haven't been able to play these for three ish years or so because the boss is not a big fan. So yeah, we'll get rid of that. Melon's one. I have a melons one. I
have a back door one. Maybe just the classic, just the classic Dixonsider. Yeah, i'd see where you're going to bottom right hand more, bottom left hand corner, put it right. Okay, it's gonna take a second. Okay, here we go a Dixonsider commercial that we are not allowed to play anymore on Katie WB. It's harvest time here at Dixon Farms. This time of the year when the weather cools off and the days gets shorter.
The folks at Dixon Farms know just what hits the spot. Our Dixon Farms apples make the best Sider for miles around, and everyone from your grandma to your daughter all want some Dixonsider. My best friend Nicole was just telling me she wasn't in the mood for tea or wine, but some Dixonsider sounded just great. I'll bet your friend would like to try the latest from Dixon Farms. Here have some Ooh that packs a kick. Yep, that's brand new
from Dixon Farms. It carries just a little more kick, and we think she's gonna love hard Dixonsider. Hard Dixonsider. Wow, that's gotta feel great on a cold night. Eh. You bet it's even better if you warm it up first. Great idea. We like telling the cole how much she'll love hot hard Dixonsider, and on the go, try tiny Dixonsider slips right in her purse or pocket or just about anywhere on the bus, on the plane, even in a stairwell. She'll love tiny Dixonsider. Well that's nice,
but I like mine big Dixonsider, perfect on any occasion. My aunt says she never wanted Dixon Insider, and we always wondered about her. Then she tried Dixonsider and she couldn't get enough. Now all she can talk about is how she wants Dixonsider. Dixonsider guaranteed to hit the spot every time. A little little behind the scenes on that commercial, Steve could not get his script right because he kept saying Dix inside her, which it's not Dix inside
her, it's Dix Insider. YEP. So he's like, my aunt loves hot hard Dix inside her. Your aunt loves hot hard dix Insider. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, you got it. So we'd roll the music again, Ready go, my aunt loves hot hard Dix inside her. No, so he did that commercial. Probably I don't know a half dozen times and we made fun of him for it. So that was Lena. Okay, I want to double start because I always forget what Corey Folly's voice sounds like. She also, I mean, she very much had Dix Insider
like. It wasn't like Dix Insider. She really, like Nane, sees it to sound exactly what you're supposed to think. It sounds like if you want to hear more Dix Insider commercials on the Minnesota Goodbye, let us know, like I said, we are not able to play them on the radio on the Minnesota Goodbye anymore anymore. Thank you Taylor for the for the email. Appreciate that. Scrolling down a little bit, Demante says, Hello you lovely people. You should try to see if Marissa, the graphic designer can
incorporate the idea from the listener Sydney about the dart lick. Discreetly to the staff writer sticker. She said it would be a tongue licking a dart with the stick being held like a pen. Fucking brilliant, says Demante. Please, oh, please see if Marissa can make this happen. Staff writer, Demante, We're still kind of in the throes of working on this one, and I haven't actually heard from Marissa in a day or two. So Marissa, let me see Okay here wait, she wrote yesterday, let me check
this out. I didn't see him, Dave. I did a whole bunch of versions, so you should have all the options as well as fonts and logos if your printer asked for them. Well, I'm going to open this up and see what we've got. Okay, hold on, I know this is not great content for you. You hold on. It might take a minute to open these up. Okay, I got it. Minnesota Goodbye. There's the katbb logo, the iHeart logo, there's katabodb in the iHeart logo,
the iHeart logo. So yeah, she gives the several different options. But we will work that out because we know we wanted to be perfect before we before we go with it. So Marissa, we love you, Thank you, thank you, thank you so much. Moving on to more Minnesota Goodbye emails. Some of them are for the show. When I sit here and go um um um, I annoy myself because some of for the show and some are not. This is something that kind of can go either way.
We talked about heartbreak on the show, and a guy named Sebastian wrote in didn't say how old he was, but he dated the same girl for three years. They wanted to get married, but they had some issues, some obstacles, as he put it, and she broke up. And now she's blocked him and out of communication. And I said, it sucks. It's heartbreaking, especially you know when you put years of your life into it. Gina writes in with some really good advice, She says, I am
fifty six years old. I've been through many heartbreaks. Although you're going to feel some sort of sadness. I found it easier when I kept busy, watch funny things. Don't listen to sad music or any music that reminds you of them, and find somebody you can invent and convent to and it's okay to cry. I did that when I was by myself. Stay strong. It still hurts. It's a process and it is hard. Gina, thank you for the advice. I appreciate that one. This one is about Drake's
Mexico trip. Hey guys, is it too early to say Happy almost Friday? If it's only Tuesday? She wrote, this yesterday anyway, A couple of random things that a bit on my mind for the Minnesota Goodbye number one. Regarding Drake's Mexico kerfuffle, I've actually I heard you guys discuss being on the struggle bus when it comes to international travel a few times. Did you not know there are travel agents out there who can help but put these things
together free of charge? Spoiler alert, I am one of them, not even trying to promote my services, although I wouldn't hate if you did. It blows my mind when people go to all this trouble on their own, when you can call a local travel professional. Her name is Linea. She's with Island Getaways, personal travel concierge Island Getaways, and I'm gonna give her phone number because she puts it in here. She said it is nine to five to two two eight eight six' one. Or she is on email.
My Island Getaways dot com is the website. Email is Linea l E n e A at my Island Getaways dot com. I'm gonna be honest with you, Linea. I didn't know there was such a thing as travel agents anymore. I kind of knew there were a few, but I thought that since most people booked their stuff online that there weren't travel agents anymore. So thanks for reminding us there are people who will take care of all that stuff
for you. I was gonna say, I definitely know because Andrew's got a very successful brother and they hired a travel agent that put together this phenomenal itinerary for them for Thailand and Cambodia. And then his grandpa also is very wealthy, and they use a travel agent for everything that they do. Really okay, you know now that I think about it. For our Japan trip a few years ago, coming up on five years ago, four and a half years ago, we used a travel agent and they did everything, but we
paid a lot for it. Yeah, that was our trip of a lifetime. We'll probably never go on a trip that expensive ever. Again. I know. I'm on their website right now and it literally says our services are free and bag in letters right here, So shout out to them. My Island getaways dot Com is what I'm on right now. There you go. So there's your publicity LINEA thanks for sending it. She goes on with bullet point number two, Dave, you brought up your stomach pain today, And
I've been meaning to ask you for a while. You say you've tried everything, so I'm gonna guess you've already tried this. But have you met with a functional medicine doctor and or tried an elimination diet. No, I have not. I've met with standard, very qualified, brilliant doctors that can find nothing wrong. I've had the camera go in this way. I've had the camera go in that way. I've had everything from acupuncture to pain management.
Last night at the awards dinner, I was in such pain at the awards dinner. It's hard for me to sit still. When I'm in such pain. I need to get up and walk. And a lot of the time I get up and walk at home because I'm in such pain that I walk around in circles. And I'm not going to take any drugs for it. I'm not going to get a deck addicted to oxy codone or whatever. But no, I've tried everything. I have not accept an elimination diet. When
I drink coffee, it's worse. When I drink pepsi, it's worse. When I have tobacco, it's worse. Should I not have those things? Yeah, probably. I mean, that's one of the main reasons I don't drink coffee as much because I just don't think it was helping my stomach issues. So I really only drink it if I really need it. And then I do treat myself on Fridays to coffee and she says, Okay, that's all. Keep doing what you do. Love you, guys, kindness regards.
I will tell you I haven't seen somebody sign off kindness regards in a long time. Thank you very much, and guess what that's about all the time we have for this this edition episode version of the Minnesota Goodbye. Thank you for all of your emails. They are the heart of the show.
