Episode description

Dave ordered something for Jenny she probably really needs, do we have a swear count on the show?, what Farmington has to offer, do Dave or Paul Allen have the more recognizable radio voice?, and more!

Transcript

We did not get to do the Minnesota Goodbye yesterday because we were at Minnesota Children's and we thought it was just kind of a hassle and we kind of want to get out of their space, and it would have taken another fifteen or twenty minutes to do it, and they would have let us do it, but we said, nah, we'll skip a day. So if you missed it yesterday, thank you for checking it out. But we are back today just in case you're curious. We did raise about sixty thousand dollars for

Minnesota Children's yesterday, which we are very very happy with. If you have contributed, thank you so much. Jenny ready, I'm ready. Okay, We're gonna start off with one about bloating and pooping and things like that. So I want to see if I can find it for you because it was specifically, oh, directed towards me. Yeah, yep, don't say my name. I really hope you read this. It could be life changing to Jenny and other listeners. I'm a female around Jenny's age who was all we

suffered from bloating and gassy issues. I have a reputation my family is the best to clear a room, not cool. Anyways, I've tried every pill, supplement, probiotic, tincture, etc. And I've had no great lasting relief until I discovered liquid chlorophylla. Chlorophyll is what makes plants green, isn't it? I think so it is an internal detoxed, cleanser, deodorizing magic superfood that will get you all the healthful greenery you need. I take about

four droppers a day, full dropper four times. Sometimes I mix in water, but sometimes I just raw dog it. It has helped me immensely, Jenny. Even my mother said I need to keep taking it, Okay, I mean I will look into it. I'll be honest. I've been recommended so many different things over the years ever since talking about it on the radio. Yeah, and I haven't tried a lot of them because I tried to stick to like a very nutritious diet. And what works for you doesn't work

for everyone else, you know. But I from what it sounds like that worked miracles for her. So it sounds like I'm ticton. I want to try it. I'm gonna look it up on Amazon for you right now, Jenny, gonna order you some here. Hold on, I'm gonna look it up liquid Clore's it's h l O r O and then pH y oh that's why I spell. I've actually never heard of this, and I'm sorry if you have DM me before and recommended this, but I do get quite a few dms often, and yeah, here it is h feel the power of

nature, Jenny Benevolent Chlorophyll liquid drops. They are twenty seven dollars. There's also one for fifteen dollars. Do you want me to order one for you? Here's me I can get him for myself. Drops Jenny poop drops. I know there was something that Tina that used to work with us. She sent me and it's like a I don't know, like a constipation pillar or something, okay that you take and it just clears you out. She said. Her and her boyfriend both tried it, and I was like, all

right, send it over. I still haven't ordered them yet, but I was like, maybe I need to look into some things for when I'm having issues. I know what you mean. I get people who say, you know, Dave, you got belly issues, try this, try this and that. Nothing really worked consistently, But I'm about to place the order for you, Jenny. So here we go by now and I'm going to swipe to place the order. So you have on the way Benevolent Liquid chlorophyll.

Jenny. That is my Christmas bonus to you. So we got that to look forward to. Wow, thank you. Sure. Okay, next one, we got a bunch here. We're gonna try to catch up a as bny as we can. Just want to say, you guys are my favorites. I've been listening to your show consistently since I moved to Nebraska over ten years ago. I'm from Bloomington but moved from my husband's job. Loved every iteration of the show and was sad to see several members of the show leave

over the years. But you guys have recovered so well each time and the show has always been amazing. Well, thank you. I'm also emailing to confirm that the podcast is inserting commercials at random times throughout each hour and in the middle of sentences and bits, for example, in the middle of the Mystery Box game to win the Jonas Brothers on nine thirteen. Really, it's not too distracting for me since I can just skip over my listen on Apple

Podcasts. But I also know you guys want to know what's happening so it can be fixed. Keep on keeping on, Jenna from Lincoln, Nebraska. Okay, thank you, Jenna. I don't know why, but thanks for letting us know, because we want to make sure the experience is as good as possible. Moving on to the next one, Dave, Jenny Drake, you can say my name. I've listened to Katy WB and your show as long as I can remember. I'm thirty eight and I remember listening to you

on the bus on the way to school. Wow. And she's thirty eight, so that was a good twenty years ago. Plus. I remember when you announced Susan was pregnant with Carson, and I cry each time I looked through the pictures of you and Allison in the airplane through the years. Dave, thank you for your advice, whether it was your own or simply passed on to you. I think Susan said, why put it down when you

can put it away? And I honestly hear it in your voice whenever I said something down that I should just put away, So pretty often I did that. Last night, I had a book out. I was looking at a book while I had a little snack, and then I put the book down on the kitchen counter, and I thought, no, don't just put it down, put it away. Yeah, I've heard some like something along

the same lines of that before. And the most the most guilty I am is when I'm trying on clothes and I can't figure out an outfit and then they just like start to pile up in a pile on like I get ready in my guest bedroom. And so I always try to say that, like, just put it away right away, like why it doesn't have to sit here? It takes you an extra five seconds to hang it back up. I've got a big stack, Jenny of shit basically over here to my left

it is games. It is mostly games. There are there's a water bottle, there's a coffee cup, there's coffee creamer, there is a super ball, there's a spoon. There's just shit over here that I don't. I need to straighten it up because it's rude for me to leave it that way for Fallon Zach and von von vant Leak. So I need to do that. Probably do that today. When I was thirteen, I want a couple of tickets to meet and greet with Savage Garden. They wouldn't let me in

because I was only thirteen. My dad said, hey, they won this, they need to come in. But they let him in, but he had to stand in the back. Also, only one member of Savage Garden was even there. Just a fun little memory I wanted to share. I have a question on the radio. How often can you swear? Do some swear words have limits? Doja says bitch twice in the VMA clip you played, but it seems like you generally avoid saying it. I know, fuck, shit, the C word, which I don't even like to say,

asshole are for sure out. So have fun as you say all those words. But is there a list of a loud words frequency for radio? Does the time of day affect what you can or say or talk about on the radio. Thanks so much for all you do. I love both live radio and the podcast and listen to you throughout most days. Dart Lick dart lick from Sarah. Sarah loved your email. There are words we can we are allowed to say, bitch, god, damn it, ass, piss,

but we try to use them sparingly. Yeah, we do, because it's just, you know, it's just kind of vulgar. You know, it's like, yeah, dojakak can say bitch, but we try to you know, say like, we don't say, oh, yeah, she was kind of a bitch. We say she was kind of a b word instead. Maybe Yeah, if I grew up listening to a radio show and my mom was in the car and they were swearing, it would have gotten turned off real quick. And that's kind of Yeah, that's one of the things we

are concerned about. We don't want like moms to go or dads to go, well, they swear too much. I don't want little Jimmy to hear this. Yeah, So we try to avoid it, but at the same time it slips through once in a while. There are some laws obviously that is regulated by the FCC, and I think later in the evening you can be a little bit more salacious and you can talk about things that are a

little bit more not vulgar. And that's the fine line that radio people always try to like question, is this crossing the line or is this crossing the line? Oh, this is safe, but that's not. So we just kind of tried to stay away from it altogether. Kay hitting the leite on that one. Next one, Dave not sure if you watch America's Got Talent, But we spotted your boy Carson within the first five seconds of season eighteen, I think episode six or seven. Carson had a job last summer or

in the spring. Maybe I remember working on America's Got Talent, and he was a show basically a gopher, and he did get to hold the door open for the you know, like Howie and Simon and Sophia and Heidi and the host I think Terry as they walked through the door. But I never spotted him on there. He loved his time on there. He's in China right now. He went to a panda preserve last night and he saw these pandas and he was amazed, and it was like super cool because you know

that's where pandas are from, from China. So she goes on to say, let's see, we love your show. Listen to every single show podcast on the iHeart after the past decade, we hope to visit Minnesota one day. Oh you're not from here, and meet you guys and keep up the great work. You continue to produce a quality show despite the many changes to your staff the past few years. Shanty and Matt, where are you from and how did you find our show? Yeah, because they've never been to

Minnesota, but they listen curious. Yeah, let us know. Next one, here we go. Don't say I'm a name, but I'm a loyal listener. Had to say a few things about good old Farmington. Driving home, I thought of many I've never done this, so it could be funny or a dud. Good old Farmington home of the only four YEP four roundabouts on the same road within two miles. When I drive to school, I

go through all four of them. We have a McDonald's, but the ice cream machine is always broken and the DQ line is always to the road. We don't have a grocery store, and everybody complains about it on Facebook. But we do have some great farmers. A Way to Go Brand Farms for all the freshness and quick trip has most things we need. I'm not sure why she decided to do a dissertation on Farmington. Did somebody right in about this? I think we brought up Farmington, and I think I might have

mentioned that I didn't realize it was that small. Someone said something about Farmington recently, and I didn't realize it was like that small of a town. I've always heard of Farmington. I thought it was kind of like just a little bit south of Apple Valley, so it was still like Apple Valley vibes. But it sounds like it is a very small town. It is out a little bit. I used to have Eric that used to work on our show was from Farmington, and we would go visit Farmington once in a while,

thirty as years ago. But I'm going to guess it's like every other small town since then, it's grown up exponentially, moving on. Everybody's favorite pizza place or Chinese place isn't open every day, but it is open five or so days a week. Pizza Man has the best pizza and poll tabs around. We host the amazing Dakota County Fair and it's free to get in. Can't get much stuff for free these days. Thought this was fun.

Kay By born here, raised here, teached here, party here, and I'm not going to say her name, but thank you for the fun facts about farming. Keep that in mind that they're fair is free. I mean, I've heard of the Dakota County Fair, but I didn't know it was free. Most of them are not. I go to the Carver County Fair. I totally missed it. And let me tell you, the State Fair is what nineteen bucks to get in eighteen bucks something like that. They went

up. I believe this past year. Next one, Dave, you can say I'm a name. My name is Dylan Johnson, longtime fan. I remember listening to you on the way to school. I'm a part of a friend group who has the Katie able to be group chat reason I'm emailing my friends and Iloell Listen to the Vikings game last week while driving back from a cabin, Listen to Paul Allen's commentary We're all together now watching them play tonight.

So they wrote this Last night at seven fifty seven, we were talking about radio voices, and I propose the question who has the most known voice in the Minneapolis area, Dave Ryan or Paul Allen. It has been an intense debate between friends who are both football and kay fan lovers and fellow Dart

liquors. Anyway, would love to hear your thoughts. PS. My friends and I are part of a bar league volleyball team and we've talked about how awesome it would be if Drake came out for a night in Hudson Wisconsin. Anyway, Love you guys, and thank you for making my life a little bit brighter. Dylan and friends of the KDWB group chat. Dylan, thanks for being a big enough supporter to do a group chat. Yeah, I don't know that I have a voice that rivals Paul Allen's because he's the guy

who's the Minnesota you know, like it's the Minneapolis Miracle. That's He's got a big voice. He's perfect for radio. He's perfect for calling the Vikings game. I would say he reaches a broader audience than I do. When you listen to the Vikings game. I would say with the vikings, yes, but with I feel like people who like sports, like an only sports listen to k Fan, But people who like sports and other things also listen

to this morning show. So I feel like we have a broader demographic than what obviously listens to k Fan. So I would almost argue it's hard because I feel like radio wise, if it was solely radio, it would be you okay, But because he does announce the vikings, it's hard to like compete with like the amount of people that hear his voice because of the Vikings. Anyway, he is really good at what he does, and I can hear his voice in my ears right now, so I don't think we're going

to settle that debate. Thank you, Dylan, though, appreciate that next one. I want to be friends with you guys in real life. You're humor and sarcasm is perfecto, says Emily. And I freaking love the short episodes because my attention span is real small. My random topic for the Minnesota Goodbye this is going to be for you, Jenny, and not for me. Okay, Padding in bras like the circles of removable padding in swimsuits and bras, so the bitch is in. There is no need for them to

be optional. Anybody that has boobs wants them in, and if they don't want them in or need them in, they should just go braw lists. First time emailer, but forever listener, Emily from Stewartville, where You're welcome to town by Pure Pleasure. Pure Pleasure is probably a sex shop on the outskirts of town. I don't know Jenny speak to padding in Oh my gosh,

Emily, I am so on your side on this one. There are moments where I'm in the gym changing into whatever top I'm wearing that day, and I almost want to walk out because I cannot get the brad padding to not be lumpy and all messed up, and I just want to leave. And I spend five minutes trying to adjust the brad padding so I don't look like a weirdo walking around in the gym with like a lumpy boob. So

I feel you on this. I do not understand it. I don't know why they don't sew them in. I don't they have like these little for anyone who doesn't know. There's like a little insert area on the side of each boob, like underneath your shoulders where you can take the brad padding in and out. And because of like that and just movement, the brab padding gets messed up anytime you take a top off or you wash it or something. And so it's a daily thing for me that I battle. So sew

them in. Sew them in right, don't have like these openings for them to come in and out. But then it's the same with swimsuits for the most part. Two most swimsuits have like brad padding that come out in and out as well is the brad padding to support the boob and I don't. I really don't know. Or is it to hide the nipple from poking out? It depends. It's mostly I think to hide showing like anything else through the bra. Most brad padding, yeah, most brad padding is not to

like support boobs, but it's it's kind of both. The only comment I have on bras is I was very proud of myself in my twenties that I could done do a bra from the back with one hand. It was very proud of that, and I don't know if I can still do that or not. Also, my only other thought on bras is when I was little, my brother taught me the phrase over the shoulder boulder holder. Have you ever heard of the phrase over the shoulder boulder holder? Yeah? Okay,

have you ever heard of a jockstrap? We used to call it under the butt nut hut? Did you ever hear that? I haven't heard that one? For the doctor. So that's really all I've got to say about bras. I don't really know anything about them, so I'm glad you're here.

The next one is from somebody who has got a lot of credibility as the director of real estate programming at a local college, and I don't know whether they want me to actually say there, you know, like exactly where, but they wrote a very long email with a lot of information about why there is such a shortage of housing and because if you're looking for a house, everything is either way too expensive or it is snapped up immediately. So we

were speculating the other day. They go on to say the cost of housing is a serious issue. Buyers today must have been nearly twice what they would have thirty years ago for a house, even after adjusting for inflation. It's true, like a house that was one hundred thousand dollars thirty years ago is now probably close to four hundred thousand dollars. Well, inflation hasn't kept up with that. But they going to say the high cost of housing is not

the result of wealthy investors. That's not it. They say the main reason for high prices because nearly a decade after the two thousand and eight financial crisis, they're not build enough homes. And I'm summarizing a lot of what they say. Construction to new homes has dropped, the population keeps going up, supply does not keep up with demand. The pandemic made things worse because people wanted to move from small apartments to houses because they were spending all their time

at home. They didn't want to be cooped up in a little house. But it was harder and more expensive to build because there was limited labor and materials. So the only real solution of making house and affordable is to ensure there's plenty of supply, but that has its own challenges, And without getting into too many details, they say, are I am curious what you think. Is it okay for cities to allow to encourage greater density to combat housing

affordability or does that infringe on the rights of current property owners? So I don't know. I think they're saying building like at in an apartment above their garage, or building duplexes on a single family lot, so more people will have housing. There's more available, but you're gonna be a lot closer to

your neighbors. I don't know. That is a really good question. I hope none of my students here this podcast is I might lose some of my cred if they know I'm listening to your unsavory Dartlick discussions rather than prepping for class. Congratulations Jenny on the promo thanks to all you do for bringing joy and humor to our daily lives. And that is from you know, I don't think they mind. They're from that's Andrew from the University of Saint Thomas

Allison's Schools. So that's cool. Thanks for telling me about that. It's just a shortage of homes. There's just not enough supply. So when a home goes on the market, thirty five people go to the showing and then five people make an offer on it and you have to bid more than there that they're asking price if you want to get it. Yeah, and also that I mean it's gone down in price drastically in the last couple of year, but the cost of lumber was so expensive for a while, so we've

been building a new house. Was just like out of so many people's price ranges. Like my sister is putting an addition on her house, and what she's doing now, it's probably half the price she would have paid like two years ago for the addition that they're doing. Yeah, well, that's good that lumber prices are going down, but there is absolutely a housing shortage. And we were talking the other day about why so many apartments are springing up

everywhere. Andrew, thanks for your insight. I appreciate it. We're going to try to keep it under twenty minutes so they won't get interrupted by a weird commercial at the end of the Minnesota Goodbye. We're just about there right now. Thank you as always for listening. Sorry we missed yesterday. Send your emails the heart of the Minnesota Goodbye to Ryan Show at KADWB dot com.
