All right, here we go with the Minnesota goodbye, and we're gonna start him with unpreread emails. I know, good luck. I'm like, I just sent you five ers. It's one of those days where we don't have We have time enough to do the podcast, but no time to preread the emails. So we're gonna dive in and be surprised just like you are. And here we go. Hello morning crew. Long time listener of over ten years, written in a few times before. My best friends having a baby
boy in August, and she asked me for name suggestions. I know you've discussed baby names in the past, but one, are your favorite names for boys or girls? Falon, If you had a boy, what would you have named him? I've also included a photo of twenty twenty two's top baby names, Dave. I've noticed both of Allison's daughter's names are on there. I thought this might be a quick, fun topic to discuss, so let's do it. Here we go and there are a bunch, but let's go.
I'm gonna go quickly through the top Minnesota. These are Minnesota by the way boys names Oliver, Henry, Theodore, Liam, Jack, James, Owen, Leo, Hudson, Noah, William, Levi, Benjamin, Elijah, Asher Brooks, Lincoln, Miles, Maverick, and Wesley. I like all of them. I'm not crazy about Maverick because to me, it seems like it's a little bit too hard of an attempt to have the unique name. And a kid named Maverick is going to be saddled with the name that
he's going to have to live up too. That's a badass name. Yeah. And if you're a shy and sometimes boys will be introverted, and if you're a you know, a shy boy, Maverick might be you know, you don't know whether he's gonna be shy or not. Yeah. Female names Charlotte, Olivia, Emma, Evelyn, Nora, Harper, Love that one, Eleanor, Sophia, Ava, Violet, Amelia, Isla, Hazel, Ella, Mia, Grace, Lucy, Lily, Isabella, and Scarlet. One week considered was because we will Now'll be honest, we barely wrote any
boy names down because I was really hoping for a girl. Harrison was a top one because I just liked the name Harry. It wouldn't have been named after my friend, but that would have been kind of funny. But I like the ones they said. I heard someone I wouldn't have done Arlow, but I know two Arlow's now and that's such a cute name. And I even liked Otto when I heard it. And I don't know, but most of the ones on that name that you read I would like. I don't
know, they're pretty cute. If I was gonna have a girl, I would name her Avery. I thought you were a new Grace changed my mind. Yeah, yeah, Avery named Avery. And if it's gonna have a boy, named him Beavers. So next one, here we go. I canceled my wedding six months before the wedding day. Now I'm not sure what what bring this up. Let's dive in and find out. I ended my five year relationship and one year engagement and canceled our wedding because I knew I
was marrying the wrong man. Shady things were going on. My life has never been better because I wouldn't have met the one. Nick and I have been together for six months. It's been the best time of our lives. I truly believe there is one special person out there for you. Everything happens for a reason, and what's meant to be will always happen. I will follow up with that, Anna, and I will say, don't let the one slip through your fingers. So sometimes you have. It reminds me of
the guy wasn't named Lance of him a five weeks ago. He was with the girl for eight years and then he didn't propose to get married, and so she said I'm done. He let the one slip through his fingers.
I don't necessarily believe there's one person out there, but I think it is amazing that when you find somebody who is so much like they fit into your soul and you like puzzle pieces, and your souls and your minds and your hearts fit together so well like a puzzle piece, that you really believe there's nobody else out there for you. And I will say, if you are now missing that one that was the opposite of you, your puzzle piece,
there's somebody else. There's somebody else. They will fit a little bit differently, but there's another puzzle piece out there just like you. I genuinely feel like Jake is that for me. But I will say to her, good for you for calling your wedding off, because the easier thing would have been to get married because it was probably a lot of work to cancel everything.
You probably lost a lot of money, You were probably embarrassed, and but you know what, you put all that aside too for the more important factor, which is you knew that was not your person. I think sometimes you know that's not your person. Another one, and I'll use this one as an example of like, it's how we want people to know how to win Taylor Swift tickets. But some people they really want to win, but they don't want to listen to win. And remember we're a radio station, just
like you know. The people at Target, they their job is to get you in the door. It doesn't do an good for you to sit outside of Target and go, God, I really need new pants and some shampoo. You have to walk into Target. So I'm not picking on you, but they write and say, my friend and I are hoping you can help us. We are die hard Taylor Swift fans and trying to get tickets for months. I'm a mom of two, my friend is working three jobs.
Please let us know win and how we can enter to win. Now, I'm not picking on you, but I will say we have been saying on the radio for probably a month, how to win Taylor Swift tickets, posting on social in case you weren't even listening. So it's one of those things. It's kind of like a life lesson. It's got like, man, I really want to get a better job. While are you doing anything applying? Are you getting up earlier, are you looking online or whatever? No?
I just really can you help me get a better job? So I'm using that as a life example of like we are. Almost every time we turn on the microphone at KWB or tad WB, we talk about how to win. Yeah, but the best thing to do is to take action on your own, not ask other people. Can you take care of this problem for me? Next one, I have been working for a company for the last fifteen years. Oh this kind of regards what we're talking about on the
show today. Yeah, maybe save that for the actual show. I will say that. Let's go to this one. This one says Dave Ryan Show. I heard wanted some I came backstory, so I thought I would share mine. This started with, um, what's the guy from House of Cards? Kevin Spacey. Kevin Spacey says he's going to make a comeback, and we said, oh, well, We're not really excited for his comeback necessarily, but you can come back. It's like, what did you come back
from? In twenty sixteen, I lost my job in June, and then in August I lost my home and everything in a flood that affected ninety percent of everyone in my community. During this time, I saw take charge side of my husband I never saw before. That was pretty cool. He also ended up getting his picture taken of him gutting our home and putting on an exhibit in the local museum. Now I'm blessed with a new job in a beautiful home. Oh. By the way, have any of you all seen
the new season of Black Mirror? Dave? You got me into that show, and I loved it, so thank you. Falon's watched the whole thing. I was asked by my son Carson not to watch it till he gets home. By the way, you look good in red, Oh thank you. That is your color. I've said forever. Red is my power color. You have? What is your power color? I feel like you're a blue? Yeah, blue, for sure. I'm not a red. I have the wrong skin tone for red. Jenny looks really good in blue as
well. People, we'll see people always said that my skin tone doesn't work well for red. I've like had back in the day, someone you know, tell you, here are the colors in your color wheel and it was not red. But I'm like, I always feel the best in red. So thank you. That was very nice of you. Yeah, you look good. I mean, you know, Oh, someone's got a crush Sead. Can you imagine that's something we should talk about sometimes. A crush on a co worker. Well, we've all had a crush on a co worker,
not a direct in the studio co worker. I've never in my life had a crush on a co worker. There was somebody who worked here. I'm not going to embarrass them, but it was a woman who worked here on the show four years and she admitted She's like when I first got here, I had the biggest crush on you. And I'm like, really, you were really good at hiding it because I had no idea. And it's a good thing because I would have probably banged her. That's a joke.
You should have seen the look on Falin's face, like, would you really? I was gonna call this. I canceled my wedding. I don't know if I want to call it, I would a banger. I don't know if it's too much, it's too much? Yeah, too much? Anyway,
She says thanks for all you and the crew do. From Alice, and she does send a picture of her husband doing the demo on their flooded house and he's basically looking through some broken dry wall between a couple of studs and it's is It is a museum quality black and white picture that tells a story. Alice, thanks for sharing your story. Next one, Hey, everybody, I love your show. Been listening for twenty years. I hate that the first thing I write it is a criticism, But part of yesterday's
show made me, oh god, what do we do? Okay, Dave and Fallon, we're talking about the submersible and rich people and why they do these things. Fallon said something along the lines of I think it's because they think they're invincible, and without acknowledging her statement as being true, Dave essentially said a long winded same explanation for their behavior. They think they can buy
themselves out of any problem. It just struck a chord in me because has sounded a bit like man's planing, and he would get more credit for it, even though it had the same meaning behind it. Maybe on the show sometimes there are seemingly not enough time to listen to each other, but I thought it was worth bringing up to be aware of. I'm going to disagree with you, Samantha. I hate when a man gives their opinion and somebody
says it's man's planing. And I think that's very trendy to do and sometimes it's funny, but it pisses me off because on my show, I'm going to talk, I'm gonna give my opinion, and if you think it's man's planing, I think that's not fair. I think there's a big difference between they think they're Invinci Bowl, and that's why I brought it up because I
didn't totally agree. You say that you think that they're invincible. I say they're used to bind their way out of problems, work problems, legal problems, um, any kind of problem. And I don't think that's the same. So I don't think that's fair, and I didn't. I don't even know what to say, I'll be honest. I remember, I remember we were talking about the submersible and we said, why do rich people want to
climb Mount Everest, and I said, I brought up Mount Everest. I said, they go up Mount Everest because they're used to bind their way out of problems and they will get short roped up Mount Everest. M Okay, yeah, So I'm sorry, Samantha. I didn't mean to upset you. Um, And I don't think it's fair to just whenever a man says something to say that he's man's plaining, because I don't think you're going to find anybody more fair to women's opinion on the radio than on this show. And
I really believe that's true. And you are the first person to say that in a very very long time. So hopefully it doesn't come across that I'm
man's playing. So I think it does. I think that sometimes sure there, I mean I get messages not about man's playing, about things where I'll be like where they think I'm being rude or something, and I'm you know, I'm like, I get frustrated because I'm like, well, sometimes we specifically talk about me saying something to kind of make it funny back and forth banter, and sometimes I am just making a joke, and so I get like upset when I'm like, if you listen to the show for any amount
of time, you would know that Dave and I care for each other, so I'm not like trying to be specifically mean or rude. So I get frustrated with stuff like that sometimes too. Yeah, I think sometimes we hear what. It's kind of like when you buy a yellow car, then you see a lot of yellow cars, So maybe there's something too. Maybe you've been had worked around somebody who's been man's playing a lot. I don't know.
It's just kind of that kind of hits me in the gut a little bit because I try to be very fair about them, Okay, And I think that is going to be it for the Minnesota Goodbye. Let me go back and see if there was a couple from yesterday that we did not get to. This is kind of a funny one. They found a Dave Ryan in the Morning Show mug at the Goodwill in Hopkins and how old is it? It goes back to a time when we were on five to nine am. It says Dave Ryan in the morning weekdays five to nine am. They
said, when were you guys on until nine am? It's been on until ten am as long as I could remember, I would say this goes back to at least the early two thousands. Yeah, wow, that's old. But that's like an old logo, very old. Yeah, this is probably goes back at least twenty years. I wonder how much they were selling it for at the Goodwill. Let's see. No, and I think that may be Okay, No, that's more for the show some of the things that I've got here. Like I said, we did not get to pre read.
Yeah, so I do. No, we're kind of running out of time. Anything you want to add. Did you ever crush Tell me about a crush you had on somebody at work? Well, I've had a few. I mean I've dated, I've married you know what I mean? That's true. Yeah, I mean you had a crush on meat sauce, so then you married him. I dated a guy at my when I worked in Reno, but I didn't date anyone that I worked with in Indiana. So yeah, I've didd crushes on him. I've dated a few people from work.
I think there's a difference between you had a crush on and then you dated that, because I think we've all had a crush on somebody's like oh, Wow, they're really hot or they're really funny, or they're really smart or whatever. I had a big crush on my boss in Indiana, my first job. Oh god, oh dream. I'm still friends with them on Facebook. I mean, nothing ever happened. Yeah, absolutely, But it was just like he was just so charismatic. He was cute, but he
wasn't like, like over the top hot. He was just so charismatic and funny. Loved him. Yeah, what about you. Do you currently have a crush on somebody that you work with. If you do, then let us know your story. Send it into Ryan Show at KDWB dot com or anything you want to talk about on the Minnesota Goodbye.
