Transcript

It's a Minnesota goodbye, Jenny and Drake here. Hello, it's on vacation, so you are stuck with us to today. So let's jump right into some emails where it's my email. Which where'd it go? Hold on? Oh, hold on there it is. This is such a month. Okay, we are going to start off with a weird situation. This person got put in with their fall semester class, so it says it's coming to the end of fall semester, and last week one of my teachers in college just

loaded nine new assignments. So this was last week, and usually fall semester ends like mid December and their's finals. So anyways, he only gave us ten days to finish these assignments. He was supposed to load these new assignments over a month ago. I even emailed them twice about it, and he said he will load the new assignments online the following week, but never did, and then after over a month nothing. Then he finally loaded them a

week ago when there's only a week and a half left to school. I work a full time job, have kids to take to swimming class, et cetera. I even email the dean and counselor about it. The dean said to look into it and to forward any evidence, so I did. If I was to fail the class or get a bad grade because of unfinished assignments because of it, what else can I do? Oh? Man, Okay,

I gotta say that professor is an asshole. Yeah he is. Well, I mean, especially since you were already emailing him in and reminding him. And who knows if other students in the class were doing that as well, And who knows how big the class is. I mean, you could be in a class of two hundred, or it could be a class of like twenty five. You know, it varies with college classes. But that is such a jerk move, and I'm so sorry that you're dealing with that

right now, especially with like the holidays around the corner. Nobody's got time for that, especially not someone who's going to school and also raising kids like I didn't have kids when I was in college. And I can guarantee you if someone assigned me that many assignments right before the break, I'd be like, what the heck? You know? So, I mean, man,

I don't think I really have an answer for you. It sounds like you already did what you could, which is email the dean and counselor, and then I would say, if you end up getting docked for assignments because you were unable to finish them, and then your grade isn't as good, then I would put up another fight. I would continue emailing the dean and counselor about it, because that's just really unfair. I mean, I don't know what the classes, I don't know what the assignments are, but I assume

that nine assignments are going to take you some time to complete. And oh my god, I can't even imagine. I never did homework in high school, Jenny, you know that, No, I literally did zero homework in high school. I would just do enough so that I would like someone understand it, and then I just would do good on tests and quizzes, and then now was just scraping by it with that pretty much. That was a spiel. Yeah, yeah, because I just I don't know, I just

didn't want to do anything. I was already working pretty much like a full time job at the time. I was doing like a night show, so I just didn't the sketchyest night show ever. By the way, because you were like underage, you should I'd been working, Like, tell people about that if you've never heard this before. Drake basically was working since he was eight years old on pretty much. Yeah, I mean I started so I

was working for like a DJ company for a while. I was doing weddings and I was DJing parties and I was doing that when I was like thirteen. And then about six months after that I got that job. I started working for a radio station in Green Bay Kiss FM shout out YEP, and they gave me a night show basically when I was fourteen and I was working nights. I would go on on weekends and work as well, and it

was a good time. But yeah, there was like definitely some child labor stuff, probably with me being so young and working the hours that I was working. Yeah, I was having a good time. So I mean, at least you were out doing stuff when you weren't doing your homework. You weren't just like, you know, sitting around doing nothing whatever. Yeah. I think at that point too, I was like, I knew I wasn't going to college. I'd like, it's a decision I made pretty early on.

So I was doing everything I could to kind of prepare myself to give myself that head start. Yeah, so that when I was done with high school, I could just kind of leap into everything. And why did you How did you make that decision to not go to college, because like, my entire life was go to school, get good grades, get into college. Like I didn't know anything different. And that's an extreme millennial point of

view. So all my millennials out there who are in a lot of debt because you felt like you had to go to college, Aphelia, Yeah, yeah, I mean, you know, I just knew I didn't belong in a classroom. Like that's just something I knew right off the bat. When I got into high school, I was like, oh, I don't do good in the classroom. Like I love learning, I love learning new things. I just didn't belong in a setting like that for whatever reason, and

so I did everything I could to prepare myself. That's pretty much how I came up with that decision. And I think that some people are like that. I had a friend who literally I don't think she'd ever listened to this, but she went to UW Milwaukee and then I think she lasted a year there, and then she went to the Fashion Institute in Chicago, also lasted like a semester or a year there. Then she went to radio school in Madison. Also, I don't believe completed that. And if I'm wrong,

I apologize, but nobody knows who I'm talking about. And I just feel like some people were told they need to go to college, and then they tried it, and then they tried all these different things, and now they didn't get anything out of it and they're in debt, and it's just such

a bummer. Oh yeah. And that's the thing too, is like, you know, a lot of people I feel like they do have you know, it's imprinted in their brain that, oh, you got to go to college after school, and you know, you got to complete all these classes and spend this amount of money there. And it's just like, I mean, depending on what you want to do with your life, you don't necessarily need to go to college. And that's something that I kind of realized early

on. I look at some of my friends who are going to college, and you know, they're they're forty fifty sixty thousand dollars in debt and they still don't know what they want to do. And it's like you should know what you want to do before going into it. I don't know, you went to college. That's just my way of thinking about it, is like you should know what you want to do before going into it so that you're not wasting money figuring it out. Yeah, I don't know. That's if

I'm wrong with that. I could be wrong with that, But to me, that's probably the smartest thing you can do. Yeah, do it. I mean, I'm definitely like, if college is for you, I fully believe in college. College was great for me. I think it was like, if anything, if I didn't get I didn't get a specific degree in radio, but I kind of did like journalism public relations, so I'm kind

of in like somewhat of a field that I studied. But I will say I got like a lot of life experience from college, and it just it does teach you a lot of responsibility. It teaches you a lot of independence. A lot of times. Most people move out and like obviously go live on their own for the first time with college and you have no idea what

you're doing. So I do, like, I am very happy that I went to college, but I know that it's not for everyone, So okay, moving on this one says Hey David, Jenny or Drake, if you joined the potty, they said, as always, love your show and thanks for giving me something to look forward to every day. No need to send a sticker, as I have been gracious enough to receive one already. I wanted to write into event about something regarding people who only reach out when they

need something. I hope I don't offend anyone with this, but maybe it will be an eye opener to those people who work for pyramid schemes. We all know you don't care enough to see what's new in our lives, just to segue into us leaning learning about the new business you're a part of, and how I should host a party. I know this conversation. I'll do well on both sides of it if I'm being honest, Elowell. I have a friend of a friend on Facebook who always has people posting certain kinds of

parties. I'm not going to call it the company name, certain kinds of parties that sell workout clothing and leggings and stuff like that. And I have helped this friend out on countless occasions and have liked some of the items. I've bought through her. This person in particular is very pushy and will advertise NonStop about new restocks on social media and inviting lots of people to parties, which is fine. However, she will openly make guilt trips on Facebook,

acting like a victim. If there's not a lot of people who purchase products, she'll say, come on, make my day, or it would be nice if I can get to my goal blah blah blah, so I can get a new dishwasher. It has bothered me so much as she will only DM me with regards to helping her reach her goal and anything company related. Some Meanwhile, these products are not cheap seventy five or seventy dollars for a

pair of leggings or so. Along with the ungrateful attitude, and if you do buy something, she will thank you, move on to the next customer and continue to take you and post slash reach out with deals and completely miss the point that maybe you have other obligations and expenses instead of dropping loads of money on clothing, that I can get a better deal elsewhere. Anyways,

thanks for reading and letting me get this off my chest. Hope you guys have a wonderful day heart a they go by, so I will just leave it. Maybe they meant anonymous, or maybe it's something to do with her first name, but I will leave it at that because I'm sure you don't want your name on here. And man, I have been lucky enough to not have many friends do kind of the pyramid scheme MLM marketing companies, So

I see like a couple friends here and there. There was one friend that posted a lot about like gut health stuff and kind of a company that she worked for, and she kind of did it almost to just like not to make a side income or make an income from it to get just to get

the products for herself. So she was not pushy about it. A couple times here and there she's like, hey, if you want to try this, this is what's worked for me, and I'm like cool, thanks, But it was never like, hey you need this, Oh my gosh, did you buy this? Blah blah blah. So I've been like pretty lucky with that. But I don't know about you, Drake. I feel like it's a little more of a female demographic thing with girls friends asking friends to

do things. For sure, Yeah, I don't have any personal experience with it, but there's definitely ways to go about it. You know, don't just shove it in people's faces. Like I understand where you know, like the sales side of it, like you want to you want to get it out there and whatnot, and you want to get free stuff and get money and whatnot. But there is definitely better ways to go about it than just

shoving it in people's faces. And you're not allowed. I understand that you are relying on this income, but you're not allowed to guilt trip other people if they decide not to buy something from you. Exactly. The main parties that I ever went to. I've never been to any of these parties that were like clothing legging parties or anything like that. But I used to do mary Kay parties. I didn't do them, but I had been to a couple of mary Kay parties, which is a beauty line. Yeah, and

so that was kind of fun. I never bought anything. I was too cheap. And then the other one was pure romance. Do you know what that is? Basically just a bunch of sex toys? Is it? So it's like this entire presentation by somebody and whoever's hosting the party always gets like free stuff based off how many other people bought things. And I had been to one when I was in college, and I was so naive back then

that I did not purchase any vibrators, any sex toys of sorts. And I would like, watch how these girls like go in the room and like talk, because you go into like a private room to decide what you want to order, so not everyone in the world knows all the kinks that you're into you now, And I watched how these girls go in and they're like anybody else, and I like was like, ah, I'm good, Like I'm not not like I didn't have the money to spare anyways, I was

in college. But I also was like, I'm good. I don't need one hundred and thirty dollars rabbit, little twitter things whatever. I don't even know. I'm not even gonna get into it. Well, it's like a rabbit that does. It's called the rabbit. Maybe I don't know. But then I also went to one at a bachelorette party. And mind you, I already went to a fucking bachelorette party for this girl, like an actual

bachelorette party. Also went to that, and I was not invited to this wedding, so I went to her like pure romance bachelorette party, part two of the two different parties, and also didn't buy anything from that. I don't think, but I can't remember. So anyways, moving on. Oh right, another email. So I was listening to the podcast while I was scooping the litter box and had to stop with all this talk with listening speeds to see what I listened to. I listened to the full show and podcast

at one point five. I also realized I listened to all of my podcasts on one point five, So I was shocked and listened at one and holy shit, you guys don't talk that fast. Honestly shocked to hear you guys at a slower pace and can't believe this. Whole time, I thought one point five was normal. Gotta go reevaluate my life. For the last six years of speed listening, one point five was the default for me. I guess I don't remember ever changing it. We'll continue to listen at one point

five because that just sounds right to me. Haha. I love you guys. This comes from Sesta. I'm not I'm not a person. A couple of people have wrote in and like they're like, you just sounds so sped up on some of these podcasts, and so we're like, just check your speed. Sometimes you don't realize you accidentally change your speed from one to one point five. I don't listen on faster speeds if I listen to things.

But truthfully, I since we work in morning radio and I and do the Minnesota Goodbye and I also do a podcast with Fallin, I don't listen to podcasts that much. It's like it's like, if you you know, you work in retail, you're in like you work at the Mall of America. You work in retail, You're not going back to the Mall of America and spending a lot of time there right because you're already there working in retail.

And you're like, I'm good. So that's kind of how I feel with podcasts, Like I definitely have some that I listened to every once in a while, but I am not a huge podcast person. I don't know where the sped up versions of audio came from and how it became so popular, because right there is like I think about all the TikTok sounds you hear a lot of them are just sped up versions of songs, and then they become

trends on the sped up versions. And I don't understand where it had to have originated on TikTok, because I feel like nobody would have ever just been listening to podcasts sped up had that not become a popular thing. Yeah, you know, I totally agree. Okay, Sorry, I was pre reading this next email, and I'm going to say this one for Dave because I don't know the answer to this asking about a former employee that was on the

show. Here we go, let's see. I'm gonna be honest, I don't know that I have much left for emails, so we're kind of low on emails today actually, so I guess if you have anything else you want to add, Drake, we're already kind of coming up. We usually do about fifteen minutes on this podcast, and we are coming right up to that. So anything from your weekend anything, I mean, no, just honestly, the gambling that I did this weekend, it was the first time in

like a one something in like a while. Usually when I go to the casino, I usually just lose, which I'm okay with and I'll admit to losing. But this weekend I actually walked that with money and it felt so fucking good. Yeah good, I'm happy for you. I'm happy you want some money? Now go buy us Christmas presents? Right, I'm just kidding. Have you Have you done any Christmas happing? Not a thing? We are If you're listening to this the day this is released, it is a

week before Christmas, and listen. I have definitely been that person before, but I was just two weeks ago. I just really got on top of it, and so I have everything done. The only thing I'm nervous about is actually one of your presents is supposed to arrive this week, and I'm hoping it says it'll arrive by Thursday, and if it doesn't, then you're not getting your present till the New Year, because well, part of a present, but I ordered it and I was kind of shocked at how long

it said it was going to take. But whatever, that's like the only one. Otherwise everything for me is wrapped in under the tree. I even found something extra in our basement last night that I've never used before. And I don't think she ever listens to this, so I'll just say it. It's a present for my mom and it's something she got me last year that I didn't need, and so it's still in the wrapping. And she told me like a month after she knew I didn't really need it because I already

have enough of what it was. And I'm not going to say what it is because she does listen. I want her to be surprised. But she was like, well, you can just give it back to me and I'll just like venmo you for the money. And I was like, no, Mom, I'll just give it back to you. Anyways, Well, anyways, I haven't given it back to her yet, so no, I wrapped it up as a present so she can have one extra thing to open, and it is her and now I'm giving it back to her, and I

obviously don't want her to vemote me for it. It's like a present. But I found it and I also pulled I don't think anyone else would be listening to this. That will be at our family Christmas, but we always do the Christmas exchange where you I think usually you grab a card out of a deck and whoever either, I think we usually start at like ace is low and then two three, four and you go up from there. So everyone puts a present in a pile and you pick a present, and you

can steal from people, you can trade whatever. But I feel like I never do very well. I usually have like a low card, and when you have the lower cards, you don't know what you're picking from whatever, or if you get something really good, then everyone steals it and then you have to go back in the pile. So I got this really really cool puzzle that I think is really cool because it's like all these like different mushrooms, and so I got this cool puzzle because it's kind of got to be

like a generic gift, you know. And then I also am regifting some tea I have. Oh and it is something that's sat in my cabinet for like a little bit that I'm like, hmm, because I like to go in the in between of like a good present but then also a kind of white elephant situation. So we'll see what happens. Andrew also will be a part of it, and he has yet to get a present for it, and I keep having to remind him he hasn't done any of his Christmas shops.

There I think I have like three or four things for him, kind of small things because we decided not to really do much for each other because we just went on a very nice vacation, so we were like, don't let's not spend it done of money on each other. But I, of course I can't resist. We originally said no Christmas presents, and I just can't do that. I like, have to you have something. It's something, and so I got them a couple of things that weren't super expensive.

But all right, Well, Dave will be back tomorrow with the Minnesota Goodbye. I will be off, so I don't know if you're going to be doing it or Bailey is gonna be fieling in for me. If she'll be on it. Does she do the podcast when I'm out or Honestly, I don't remember, because I've done it when you were gone for Tahiti. We did it a couple of times, so I don't remember. Yeah, I don't know. Okay, we'll suppose you. Maybe it'll be Dave, Drake

and Bailey. Maybe it'll be Dave and Drake. Maybe it'll be Dave and Bailey. You'll find out tomorrow on the Minnesota goodbye, and send your emails into Ryan Show at katiwb dot com.
