On the night of June 14, 2015, police in Greene County, Missouri found the body of Clauddine “Dee Dee” Blanchard. She had been stabbed to death in her own home. Her chronically ill daughter, Gypsy Rose Blanchard, was nowhere to be found. Police had gone to the Blanchard house, just outside of Springfield, Missouri, to check in on the single mother and child after neighbors and friends reported concerning Facebook posts on Dee Dee’s profile. But where is Gypsy Rose? And who killed Dee Dee? This case prompts discussions of murder, medical abuse, and how a system meant to protect our health can fail us.
