Episode description

David Berlinski, resident of Paris and star of the new Expelled documentary, holds a Ph.D. in the philosophy of mathematics from Princeton. A self-identified “secular Jew,” he earned kudos for his award-winning book A Tour of the Calculus, followed by several other books on the history of mathematics. In the past decade, has emerged as one of the most controversial and enigmatic figures who has plunged into the debate over Darwinism and Design. He is interviewed here about his new book "The Devil’s Delusion," which responds to the flood of polemical books from the “new atheists” such as Richard Dawkins and Sam Harris. With barbed wit, Berlinski explains why and how these “evangelists for atheism”--and their zealous tracts--fall flat on their intellectual faces.
