Fifteen years ago and while on a dive trip off the coast of Papua New Guinea, John David Miller purchased a piece of property in the Appalachian Mountains of Virginia he had never seen and knew nothing about. After closing and by chance, he discovered his mother’s maiden name written on the bottom corner of the plat.
