In this haunting bonus installment of The Dark Mind Detective, I share a chilling, deeply personal experience. I remember vividly standing at that field, that killing field the robber picked in property. This was in February 2024 when I attended with my family a candlelight vigil with the Indigenous community. The farm is now just a fenced off field. The air is still thick with something heavy and something unnatural in the air.
And what even disturbed me more is this how clean it looks. No signage, no memorial, no plaque, nothing to indicate the horrors, the massacres that went on there. And as I began my own journey of the deep research I did over the year and the emotional reflection unfolded into a disturbing journey through the environmental corruption, the even looking at occult forklore and Vancouver's darkest secrets. This episode reveals a little known horror.
The Robert the Picton family contaminated topsoil business. They sold earth mixed with industrial waste and human remains across Metro Vancouver into gardens, school grounds, parks and even playgrounds. Not only was the soil carcinogenic, but in many traditions it'd be considered cursed Earth, the kind used in black magic, graveyard rituals,
and even ancient spells. In this episode, you'll explore the emotional weight and the spiritual unease felt while standing at the Picton crime site. How soil from Expo 86, a former industrial dump, was laced with lead, cadium, dioxins, benzenes, and human body parts and then sold to the public. The old cult uses graveyard dirt in Hoodoo and black magic from dune oil to goofer dust. Cultural legends of cursed lands, plague pits and haunted battlefields and European folklore.
The Badlands of South Dakota soaked in ancient sorrow. Execution fields. Mass graves believed to carry murder energy. The concept that murder and trauma can contaminate the earth, infect those who walk upon it, or grow food in it. The eerie possibility that this wasn't just industrial negligence, but a ritualistic dispersal of energy from a killing field.
This episode is a bridge between true crime and dark folklore, A story about poison, land and curse legacy, and the silent horror that still clings to the soil beneath our feet. Even if you don't believe in curses, they are powerful people who do, and that alone makes it worth understanding.

The Dark Mind Detective let her
story now begin. It was a crime scene ground choked with blood, bone and the carcinogenic remains of Vancouver's darkest secret. Some of it came from a pig farm, the rest a poison legacy of Expo 86 land once celebrated as a world's fair utopia, later revealed as a toxic dump of industrial waste. Farmers grew food in it, landscapers paved over it, and for years no one questioned what lurked beneath their feet until the bodies began to surface.
This is a true story of how murder literally contaminated a city. Welcome to the soil of death. Before I begin, I would like to introduce myself. My name is Mark. I am an investigative journalist, and for the last six years I have been investigating some of the darkest, most complex crimes of human history. And it's probably safe to say that this is not your typical true crime podcast. It is instead a journey into an even darker, more disturbing world, one that exists in the
shadows. Much of the information contained within my podcast series will be unfamiliar, and some of the theories and ideas discuss may seem rather bizarre. Perhaps the most controversial concept you'll encounter concerns of phenomena commonly referred to as trauma based mind control. Although mind control has long been relegated to that polluted wellspring of information known as conspiracy theory, it has never been a polite topic in
mainstream discourse. In the numerous cases I've researched, from Robert Picton to Jeffrey Epstein, trauma emerges as a reoccurring theme, affecting not just the victims themselves, but creating a collective societal trauma. I experienced this first hand as a child in the 1980s when newspapers, radios, television reported nonstop about child murders in the community, sharing gruesome details of
young boys discovered murdered. This became my introduction to the world of serial killers and sensationalistic media coverage that accompanied them. Though I wasn't directly victimized, these stories terrified me and shook me to my core. Trauma in all forms leaves an indelible impact. In this series, The Dark Mind Detective, I dwell into the disturbing nature and depravity of both historic and current cases.
After spending over a year deeply investigating the Robert Picton case, it became increasingly apparent that this wasn't simply the work of a lone serial killer, but something darker, more systemic and organized. Despite appearing disorganized on the surface. In the series The Dark Mind Detective, I dwell into the
disturbing nature. I've been researching complex, troubling cases like Jeffrey Epstein since 2007 and the strange patterns of missing men across the United States and Canada since 2008. Having studied over 150 serial killer cases, I've come to recognize that these stories are far more complex than mainstream media portrays. There are typically more people involved and more layers to uncover. This podcast examines the various aspects and stages of these cases.
The people who conspire, sometimes on the dark web. The networks targeting victims of all ages, the young, the old, they have been repeatedly exposed. The gathering places where predators commit dark and disturbing crimes. Some cases have a cult like aspects, others religious undertones, while some are just purely deviant. A disturbing pattern emerges where government, intelligent agencies, organized crime cults, and religious institutions sometimes interlock to commit
terrible acts in the shadows. The goal of The Dark Mind Detective is to illustrate that there's much more to these stories than meets the eye. For the victims who can no longer speak for themselves, this podcast offers an opportunity to become a voice for the voiceless. Even though if you don't believe in the concepts like black magic or the old cult, there are plenty of people out there who do, and you'd be probably surprised by who some of them are. In fact, many take these beliefs
extremely seriously. In this podcast, we are going to explore some very dark and shadowy subject matter. You might think some of it sounds ridiculous and superstitious or like something out of a conspiracy theory, and that's fine. I'm not here to convince you to believe anything. What I want to highlight is that they are people, powerful, serious people who treat these ideas as very real, and that alone makes it worth
understanding. I've been thinking a lot about the soil from the Picton Pig farm. It was very contaminated, not just from the blood and bones and the human remains scattered around the property from the murders and slaughtering, but also from the carcinogenic soil trucked in from the Expo 86 site. The Pickton brothers started a topsoil business selling this contaminated dirt across Metro Vancouver, The parks, the school district, the landscapers, the farmers.
Kids played soccer on it, people grew vegetables on it and raised livestock on it. In a practical, physical sense, this was already evil soil, spreading sickness, respiratory problems, and possibly even cancer. The former Expo 86 site in Vancouver, Canada, experienced soil contamination from decades of industrial use. Industrial sites like those at Expo 86 often contained hazardous chemicals that pose serious risk to human health and
the environment. Heavy metals lead, hadium linked to kidney damage, cardiovascular disease, and even cancers. Lung and prostate hexavalent chronium unknown. Human carcinogen primarily causing respiratory cancers. Nickel. Copper potential Carcinogenic at high levels and nickel is associated with lung and nasal cancers. Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons by products of fossil fuel combustions linked to skin,
lung, and bladder cancers. Dioxins persistent industrial pollutants that cause cancer, reproductive harm and immune suppression. Benzene vinyl chloride, a volatile organic compound tied to leukemia and liver cancer.
Direct exposure, skin contact contaminated dust can cause acute on nasal, respiratory issue and chronic conditions cancer, neurological damage ingestion, accidental soil consumption by children or the use of contaminated groundwater increases the risk of organ damage in cancer. The most vulnerable group are children face higher risk due to frequent hand to mouth behavior. How many people got sick?
How many people became I'll and died of cancer and respiratory conditions and other diseases after coming into contact with this poisonous soil, which they trucked in from a highly contaminated location and then sold for a profit?
The Picton family, who profited from the sale of toxic soil and sold it throughout the city, is an example of how this pattern reflects larger environmental injustices, where communities suffer the most from industrial pollution while the corporate and government actors avoid accountability.
But then I start to think about something else I learned from the occult circles, how graveyard soil is prized in black magic, and witches and practitioners of dark arts use it to create things like doom oil, a substance meant to curse or harm others. Now imagine, as a thought exercise, this soil, the soil from a literal killing field. The Crown prosecutors even called it that, being annoyingly
spread across a city. From an old cult perspective, it's not just dirty soil, it's cursed earth. Let's dig deeper. How historically, soil from graveyards, battlefields, or places of death has been used in black magic practices? How in certain belief systems, contaminated or cursed earth was consciously spread to sow chaos, illness, or misfortune. From a occult and a dark psychology point of view, this fits.
The picked and farm wasn't just a crime scene, it was a graveyard, and that soil carried the energy of death far beyond its borders. There are things in our world, the natural world, that we take for granted. Rain. If you live somewhere where I do, rain is common. You don't even think twice about it. Seasons 2, Summer, spring, fall, winter. They just happen, and we move through them without a second thought.
But there's something even more fundamental to life, something so basic, so essential, that most of us barely ever notice it. Soil. Dirt. Think about it. How many lives have been lost over a piece of soil? How many wars have been fought over it? Soil is at the heart of human survival. It feeds us. It sustains us. It gives us a place to build our homes and raise our animals and grow our food. Soil is life. It is the lifeblood of the planet.
But like everything else, it exists on a spectrum. If you put soil under a microscope, you'll see an entire world hidden inside it. A living, invisible ecosystem that keeps everything above ground alive. Now imagine if that soil became corrupted. Graveyard soil in occult conditions. In witchcraft or Hulu. Graveyard dirt is often used in spells, particularly for curses, protections, or spirit communication. Doom oil or similar formulas like goofer dust is used to hex or harm someone.
It's often contains graveyard dirt, sulfur, snakeskin, and other symbolic ingredients. The belief system is the soil absorbs energy, especially from the dead. So soil so dirt from a violent, tragic place would be particularly powerful. Cursed or tainted soil and folklore and many cultures. Land where blood has been spilled is believed to be cursed. Battlefields, plague pits, execution sites and Slavic
European folklore. Land that has seen murder or improper burial is often haunted or spiritually toxic. Medieval times cursed field were linked to blight, livestock, sickness and even human illness. The concept of murder energy contaminating a place is common in dark psychology. Crime scenes often effects people psychologically even years later. If people unknowingly consume the soil through food or inhalation, they might experience physical illness, reinforcing the belief in its
evil nature. The concept of landscaping soil from a crime scene and spreading across Vancouver is eerily similar how cursed relics or objects spread misfortune. In real cases where land was poison due to war crime, people reported strange illnesses or psychological distraction. You just heard how death seeped into the soil in Part 2. In our second part we will go deeper. What if the victims but that foul pig farm weren't just buried, but they were processed, rendered and unknowingly
consumed by the public? And lipstick and pet food and everyday meals will uncover the truth about the rendering plant and how human remains have been turned into products used across the country. Makes you think this wasn't just about slaughter. This was about ritual, about the
energy. And Part 2, we'll also explored ancient cursed lands, from the Badlands of South Dakota to mass graves in Europe. And how old cult traditions have long used death, flesh and soil for spiritual domination, satanic rituals, and graveyard magic. And that pig farm might have been more than just a killing field. Maybe a temple of industrial sacrifice. Please subscribe now on Spotify. Thank you so much, The Dark Mind Detective. Thank you for listening to The Dark Mind Detective.
