Thank you for listening to The Dark Mind Detective. So before I release the last two episodes of the Top 10 Anomalies of the Robert Picton Case, I have a special announcement and I know many of you have been with me since the early days, back when this all started as Vancouver True Crime in 2019. At that time I was a stay at home dad grieving the loss of my wife and raising 2 autistic children.
My wife passed away in 2020. I was trying to find a way to connect with the world, so I started this platform with nothing but my curiosity, research skill, and a deep desire to make a difference. From day one, I wanted this to be a community driven space, sharing breaking news, exposing predators, and helping families through unthinkable tragedies. Over the years, it's been a roller coaster.
I have met incredible people and I told some powerful stories, and I tried hard to keep this platform free of ads and monetization for as long as I could. But now I am stepping into the next chapter. We live in a digital world surrounded by AI, social media, and online echo chambers, and I felt the impact of that division deeply, especially on my own platform.
That was part of the why I rebranded from Vancouver True Crime to Dark Mind Detective to break free from that toxic dynamic and focus on deeper investigative work in human connection. In 2024, I took a step back. I released fewer episodes and dove head first into intense research. I spent thousands of hours investigating the Robert Picton case, a case I followed since 2002, a case that haunted the city I grew up in. I personally know people whose loved ones were murdered on that
farm. I know people who worked for the Picton brothers and some who stole do. Through this investigation, I uncovered far more than I expected. Not just about Picton, but a pattern of missing people across North America. In BC alone, I found over 800 names of women murdered or missing under suspicious circumstances. Nationwide, over 3500 names emerge. Something's wrong. Something's happening into our community. And not just here.
Strange clusters of missing men in cities like Chicago, Austin, TX, Chicago, IL. A weird phenomena of men being found drowned in Ladybird Lake. The same cluster seems to appear in Vancouver, BC. And then the bizarre phenomena of feet washing up along the shores of Washington State and BC. These are not isolated cases, these are signals and fragments of a much deeper issue.
And that's why I'm launching a live speaking tour titled From Tragedy to Truth. It is time for me to leave the keyboard behind and come meet you face to face. These won't be giant shows. These will be intimate town hall style events. Small gatherings of 25 to 100 people. I'll present my findings using the brain maps that I created, visual displays and interactive presentations, case files, interactive discussions. I'll spotlight missing persons from the very communities I
visit. This isn't just about crime stories. It's about healing. It's about rebuilding our sense of community in a world that feels increasingly divided. It's about safety, especially for our youth who are being targeted through apps, games, and social platforms. I want to give people the tools to stay safe online and offline. So to make this possible, I'm asking you for help. This is the first fundraiser I've done in six years and my goal is simple.
Rent a rehearsal space. Purchase some basic equipment, a projector, audio gear, signage. Cover the initial travel costs and hotel costs. Hire a booking agent to help organize the tour stops. And if you'd like to support this mission, the GoFundMe link is in my bio, in my Dark Mind Detective, and on my social media platforms. And if you can't donate, that's OK. Seriously, just sharing this podcast, subscribing, leaving a review, following me on Instagram, Dark Mind Detective
goes a long way. Every, like every share, every follow helps get this message in front of the right people. It helps keep me going and behind the scenes. I'm speaking with publishers, producers, ATV project in the work. These are early stages, but none of it would be possible without your support, your encouragement, and your belief in what I'm doing. If you donate $50 or more, please contact me directly and I'll make sure you receive complimentary tickets when I
come to your town. If you're a business and you want to sponsor this tour, reach out. I'll be proud to feature your support and help get your message out to a wide, loyal audience. I'm always open to your messages. Please, the best way to reach me is through Vancouver True Crime Facebook group or on Instagram. Dark mind detective. Let's build something real. Let's connect. Let's turn tragedy into truth together. Thank you, Mark, the Dark Mind Detective.
