Episode description

Gerald Watkins, Chairman & Executive Director of Friends of Rickwood, joins me to promote Major League Baseball's "Tribute to the Negro Leagues" game — and to talk about the oldest ballpark in the country! The contest between the San Francisco Giants and St. Louis Cardinals, which also honors the greatest living baseball player, Willie Mays, will take place on June 20, 2024 at historic Rickwood Field in Birmingham, AL!

Friends of Rickwood, a non-profit organization formed in 1992, is "dedicated to the perpetual restoration, preservation, and promotion of Rickwood Field." Without Mr. Watkins' and the organization's efforts, this 113-year-old stadium might not be standing today — let alone hosting this historic MLB game!

Visit www.rickwood.com to learn more about the ballpark and how to become a member of Friends of Rickwood!
