Episode 1: We're Going to Fuddruckers

Dylan, who runs graphics for us here on the Dan Patrick Show, is a degenerate gambler, and we thought, well, why not have a podcast where we let the audience in on what goes on here at the Dan Patrick Show. So Bad Lairy, welcome to the program. Thank you for having me.

Dan and Dylan. It's great that you're here. But then you had to be here because you work on the ship. I was already here. Okay, who wants to lead off? And if you have to explain anything to the audience who might not be as well versed on gambling in the games. Now, just who's got anything on tonight's game? Um? I do I have one? So I have a parlay with something from this tonight's game involved in it. And I have a prop bet that I really Okay, Larry,

do you have anything on the Cowboys? I do not have anything on tonight's game, dance, so go at it? Go ah? Alrighty, Well, so the prop that I really like is dak over to nine and a half passing yards. Um, I'm gonna guess he'll be running for his life a lot, and if they pick up where they left off with him last year, he'll be throwing the ball up. I think that's fair. I like that, Okay, safe? All right? Do you want to tell us how many units you have on it? So that one? I mean, I guess

that's probably gonna be a one unity. Um yeah, just dipping your tea tells you like something. Have a little action on the game tonight. Um. And then I have a parlay that is involved. So I was just looking and it looks like the line for that game move to nine. So it's bucks by nine all right? Um, so I'm gonna take the Cowboys plus two points big Week one spread. So I'll take the dog in a parlay with the Cardinals and Titans over fifty two and

a half and Chargers plus one. All right, uh Jack, our intern is writing all this stuff down just so people will be able to follow this. Um, bad lair. What's your first bed of the weekend? Okay, since we're he wants to do one unit, I'm gonna do five units on the Buffalo Bills given six and a half to the Pittsburgh Steelers. Okay, so you're you're going deep on on Buffalo. Okay, that's that's your big one this weekend.

Do you like any any other game? Uh? Similarly? Um, No, other games will be five units, dan, um, but I have one to three, four, five other NFL games and then I'm gonna do three six two team teasers in the NFL. Let's go, Let's do college. Okay, I only bet to college games this week. Um. I don't like that in college the first week out fifty year seniors. You know, COVID protocol. I'm not interested. I'd like to see the week play out a little bit, but I

do have to college games. Being from the Jersey Shore, I'm gonna take out one unit on Rutgers. Okay, they put up a little nice number on Temple last week. I figured they're going to go up to Syracusan and handle them. Do we want with minus two? Okay? Minus two? You got Rutgers correct? And then just uh an odd affiliation with Notre Dame. I will take Notre Dame minus sixteen and a half. Um and is that a a one unit as well? One? I will anything that's not

a one unit thing I will point out to you. Okay, uh, do you have college games? Yes? I do. I am staying away from Notre Dame because they burned me last weekend. Pretty bad. I'm sure that happened to a lot of the people too. Um. But one, I really like it's Buffalo plus fourteen against Nebraska, and Notre Dame doesn't know that they burned you. Then that that now you're not going to bet on them. I know they don't know that you like this won't affect their performance because they're like, oh,

we burned Dylan last time. We don't know. Okay, Um, this is why Vegas always wins. Larry, you know, with with opinions like that sentiment like that, Yeah, well we'll we'll work on that. We'll work on Dylan on that a little later, now I do, Okay, So what else do you have? Um? Alright, So Buffalo plus fourteen and I have Texas A and M minus seventeen against Colorado. I think A and m's a wagon. Um, and I don't really trust Colorado. Okay, any other picks this weekend?

College wise, I've got one underdog UM Iowa and Iowa State play and I like Iowa plus one sixty five on the money line. I think Iowa State was underwhelming they usually are at the beginning of season. And I think, you know, little rivalry game, why not sprinkle on the underdog? Okay? Explain the money line for people who don't gamble. So the money line is just a straight up that so

to win, no point spread involved. So Iowa's underdog UM by a few points, so them to win straight up you're getting you know, it would be a hundred to win one st Okay, So plus money all right? Now to the NFL. Uh Larry stayed away from the Cowboys and the Buccaneers. Dylan went a little bit in on that game. Uh, Larry has Steelers over the Bills. That's his big pick for the weekend. D Buffalo Bills over

the Bills over the Steers. Happened with all my friends to day, and after I give them winners, they put it in wrong. Okay, once again, Larry bad Larry is taking the Bills over the Steelers in a big way. Yes, okay, anything else, yes for me? Yeah, I like the Titans minus three. These are all one unit bestand Titans Titans minus three, Panthers minus five, Jacksonville minus three, and you can check these lines for me. Um they're all one units.

And then gun to my head to get a couple more games, and I'll go San Francisco minus seven and the Rams minus seven and a half. Okay, you don't have to pick more games, because I don't want you to come back and go, yeah, you maybe pick a couple more games. No, no, there, I'll take. I'll take all those games, all one all one units, except for the Buffalo games five units. Okay, I thought you said unless you said it that everything was one unit, correct, Okay,

thank you. Okay, what else? Um, So I'll been playing a similar strategy all one units, and I got one big five unit that I like. Um, So Dolphins plus three against Patriots, that's gonna be a unit. Um Seahawks minus two and a half versus Colts. Um, I might have actually bumped down up to two units. I really like that one. Um the Seahawks. I actually I found this stat that the Seahawks in the Eastern time zone since Russ started our win percentage. So that means absolutely nothing,

but I like it because. Um and then my five unit bet this is sort of an emotional bet for me. But Ravens minus four against the Raiders. I think it's disrespectful line and I think the Ravens kill him. Larry, you've been doing this a long time. In fact, you gave up your job in real estate fifteen years ago. Um Morgan banking Dan, but yeah, affiliated with the real estate business. Okay, So Larry was in mortgage banking and uh, and he doesn't have a job anymore, like a regular job,

full time job. Uh. What advice would you get to Dylan? He seems to let a motion play a role in gambling. Well, one thing, just for our little game here, When does he gonna decide if that's a one unit or two units? Bet a we're gonna wait till Monday on that, or are you gonna We're gonna He's gonna decide that. Now that's been decided right now, that's my five unit bet. You just said one you might go, then you just say you want you might go to units on. No,

that was Seahawks. Wait, you just told us to listen to you, and then you don't listen to Dylan. I'm not, I'm not. I really not too worried about Dylan's pecks. Really, Dylan, we still have our Seattle wins the Super Bowl? Are you minding your little private bet? Right? Yeah? Okay, Wait, explain that last week? Explain this. So these guys talked last week and you picked the Seattle see supersonic Seahawks. Uh, whatever,

the Mariners, somebody to win the Super Bowl right against Buffalo. Yes, okay, it doesn't matter. It doesn't even matter who was against. If Seattle wins a super Bowl, take Dal in the dinner anywhere he wants to go in the country. Okay, okay, the world's greatest hamburgers a whole lot more. Uh, Larry, did you have a Super Bowl pick last week? I I did, just because you forced me into it already. I don't like these future bats. But let me just see who I took. Yeah, I gave you the Chiefs

over the Packers. I didn't give you a winner. I gave you that the super Bowl. Okay, but you don't have to make a pick. It's just I don't want you to tell me going into super Bowl week when you go, yeah, I liked the Chiefs over the Packers in the Super Bow. No, I don't have any action on that, So no, I don't. I don't have a super Bowl pick down yet. Okay, all right, once we get to the super Bowl, you'll have a pick on

the super Bowl. That's the day I do do some prop bets and we'll have a little fun with that. What's everybody has a bad beat? Layer? What's your bad beat? Oh? Well, I can give you two of them, just from last year I had. I can't remember even a team, so

I can't remember the one. But the first one was and I was betting on fan duel and it was a lock I had whoever the winning team was given three or something games over, and there was like four ladder rolls fumbled and the other team recovered in the end zone. To cover the spread and beat me. But Sanduel gave the money back because they beat me. And the other one was the Hailmary They name plays that me beat me Dan Hail Murray when uh, Golden Tate pushed the guy and then caught them all in the

end zone. Wait are you know you're talking about Kyler Murray. Yeah, the name that the Hail Marie. Yeah, but it wasn't Golden Tate, DeAndre, DeAndre Hopkins, DeAndre someone someone seated in the adzone. And then Larry I think the other the game we were talking about before, I think was Brown's right when they got a safety in the end zone to cover or to and like with like three seconds left,

Sanduel gave everyone their money back. That had no um future best but anyone who bet the game and not in game before the game started, bet the game, Vandal gave you your money back. That's how, you know, just a brutal beat there, Like we don't even care, We'll just give you this. We don't even if we were embarrassed. You want to lose to many people over this will get money back deal? You got bad beat? That comes to mind? Um, there was I know obviously, well so

Notre Dame last weekend was brutal. Um. It wasn't like the worst beat ever. It's played out a little bit over time, but was well. Larry told you to stay away from it. Yeah, I can look good for a while that I opened a lot of teasers Notre Dame Buffalo, Notre Dame Buffalo. So there, the teasers are still alive. But I can't. I don't want to bring it up for your show because you and I both know it, and you have it on tape, but we hadn't started yet.

So okay, so you have bad b for me, although being up eighteen going to the fourth quarter and not covering does hurt people. But you have Notre Dame from last week, and you've teased with Buffalo this week with the Steelers. Correct with with the Bills. Yeah, you have Buffalo that was given six and a half. So I brought it down on a half and the Bills were given six and a half. Butt down on a half. And that's still alive. But I don't want that to count.

That doesn't No, no, no, it doesn't. No, it doesn't. But you still brought it up, Larry. We do have that tape buried though, so if we need tone No, no no, I'm sure Larry said it, but we're not counting that. That's all. That's okay, I agree. Point I. I have the ultimate bad beat. And this was when I was gambling, and uh it was the Packers Bears and I all I needed was Green Bay to kick a field goal and I would cover. Having the Bears and Chester Markle

kicked a field goal, it was blocked. He got the ball and the kicker ran it in for a touchdown and I lost. Like I don't know if that Like how many times in the history of the NFL has a kicker had a kick blocked and then run it in for a touchdown and covered the Yeah, yeah, that's a bad beat. It might be the one, maybe twice there maybe one other time that that happened. Maybe I

don't know, but I mean that's a bad beat. That's that that when you know, when I got out of the gambling business, you know, I started thinking about the bat everybody talks about, you know when they win. It's those bad beats that that drive you out. Well, there was I remember last season it was I think Seahawks Eagles and like Thursday night football or something, and the line was six I think, and literally just ultimate garbage time.

T D went just chucks in the end zone is score with like twenty seconds less, and it's like, well that's over. Yeah, all game. It feels like every Sunday Night game it goes down to the last two minutes. It might have been Sunday Night. You know, there's always and then something always someone gets screwed one way or the Yeah, yeah, alright, so anything else bad layer. I have my teasers still that I'll give you. I agree

with you, guys on Sunday night come triel down. A lot of times those Thursday night games do that same thing. It's kindly the only one game on it's a little more scrutiny on it, all right, So give me your teasers. Okay, he's damn for your audience. These are two team teasers. You get to adjust both games by six points. Um. So I have Buffalo Panthers, Buffalo SAMs the same games, I bet now I put all of those in teasers.

Buffalo Panthers, Buffalo San Francisco, Buffalo Rams, Panthers, San Francisco Panthers Rams, San Francisco Rams. They are all two team teasers. They're all one unit. How many games do you normally bet over a weekend? Um, this is about normal, and you know, five or six teams, and then it will get a little more when we get into the college football season and I start that in little college. Yeah, I do it less now, but I used to go down to parlay rabbit hole or you just have like

one of them sitting there like I don't. But isn't the logic don't parlay? Yeah, it's there's a reason you get good on. And even teasers too can be like I mean, there are a lot of times there are ten and twelve point games in the NFL. I think the Sursday night game is the biggest biggest spread. It's not, it's only nine. I think is this week one of my things? Right? Usually, so this is an anomaly here.

Usually only about three team teasers in the NFL. But there's no reason to this week, no reason about a third team teaser because Dan, you get three ten points on each of those spreads, and that will be a bet I will be making most of the NFL year, just this week is not one of them. All Right, Well, we'll talk next week and uh, we'll tabulate how both you guys do and uh bad lair. I know you've got a busy schedule doing nothing since you don't have

a full time job, so we'll let you. Okay, Well, Dan, when you get to be my age, you're going to a lot of funerals and I just love to a fingeral mass. And now I have the repass that I have to get to. Um. Thankfully, it's well it's not thankfully, but it's right across the street from my house. It's my friend's mom who's age, so it's not a real sad one. And I'm not that old yet, Dan, so it's still mothers or friends of mine who are dying.
