Ned, this is Daily Tips That May or May Not Help You. And sometimes our tips teach you about how to be more efficient in the morning. Sometimes our tips teach you, I don't know, um, how to eat something really nutritious and delicious. And today our tip is about gaming. So Ned, what is one way that you can combat frustration when you are gaming and gaming and gaming and you can't get past a certain level, or you are just frustrated by, uh, constantly being thwarted by the enemy on your screen.
Can you tell that I don't know anything about games? That was crazy. That's a great question, Arielle, and I love how hard you tried there. Today's tip is about roguelike gaming. For those of you who don't know what Roguelike gaming is, it is a game where, um, every time you lose or die in the game, you reset back to the beginning, and then you play the game again, and you try to be better at it next time. I am playing a game right now called Blue Prince.
If you haven't played Blue Prince, it is awesome. Highly recommend it. Uh, if you have Xbox Game Pass, it's free right now. Go get it. It's a blast. And I've been playing it with my wife. And we started getting stuck consistently because of the way the puzzle played out. We would just get trapped by the game. Nothing we did right or wrong, it was just luck. And it happened a bunch of times in a row and we started getting frustrated with the game.
And every time we restarted, we were coming into the puzzle frustrated. And then I read this article on Game Spot by Moises Taveras who said: "treating Blue Prince like a daily crossword has cracked it wide open." And this is my tip of the day for Blue Prince, but also for Balatro, which I've talked about on this podcast or any roguelike game.
Outer Wilds, another great example where instead of trying to play it for a set amount of time and you get frustrated because you're doing the same thing over and over and over again and not making progress, play it one to two times and then put it down, come back the next day. Like you would a daily crossword. And doing that has allowed every time I play the game to be fun and fresh, and I'm coming at it with new ideas. And I am not frustrated by having lost a bunch of times in the past.
So the tip of the day, treat roguelike games like a daily crossword courtesy of Moises Taveras, and you will have a much better time with your gaming. I have nothing to add to that, but I hope that you have fun. I am gonna make you play Blue Prince and I think you're gonna get obsessed. I bet I'll like it. I like Fruit Merge. they are very different. Uh, that's it. We'll see you on Monday. I like Fruit Merge is the funniest thing you could say.
